Summary
Goodwin King couldn't sleep. Insomnia wasn't common for him- usually the tea Cook prepared for him knocked him out like a light- but whenever he had to deal with it, it felt like the most annoying thing ever after. He wanted to SLEEP, not be alone with his thoughts.
His least favorite thoughts were about his ex-wife. He never wanted to get back together with her- that would be terrible for everyone involved- but he still missed her sometimes. And if he thought about it too much, he felt awful about her being in mirror prison. Part of him felt guilty, like he should have done something. But he also knew that logically, there was nothing he could have done. They had been divorced for years by the time she had decided to curse Wonderland. Most people thought nothing of the Evil Queen facing such a punishment. But to Goodwin, she wasn't just the Evil Queen. She was the woman he once loved.
Travel back in time to decades ago, back to when destiny was absolute, before there was a Raven Queen, or an Apple White. Back to when Goodwin could just be in love with his ex-wife, before everything fell apart. Go with Goodwin, and go back to high school.
