“Mama?” He tries, voice quiet. She hasn’t said a word to him aside from the now-ominous ‘pack your bags’ earlier that night, and he doesn’t want to make more noise than she’s willing to. “Where are we going?”
She stops, for a moment, and he sees the faintest tremor run through her body. It’s barely there, imperceptible, but its probably more terrifying than the thirty-foot-long jet right in front of him. Mama never shakes. Never.
“I’ll talk to you in the plane,” She says, finally. There’s something that’s so obviously wrong about her voice that Damian almost actually pulls his arm out of her grip, because his Mama never sounds like that. Like- Like--
