Chip needed a resurrection, a true resurrection, and quickly if he wanted to live with any memory of himself. And luckily for his crew, they were able to find someone willing to do it. But resurrections have never been very easy on the body.

Arthur began to say something, but was interrupted by Mary before he could get a sound out. “You don’t know what blood bonding is.”
Arthur has a major realization and takes it about as well as he really could.

Arthur just stared at the wall, at the shadows stretching across it, palms still tingling with the knowledge of feeling them like his own extremities. He wasn’t going to be able to tell her. He wasn’t going to be able to tell any of them that he was going mad, because they’d either glaze over it entirely or fixate on it until they ended up worse off than him.
The shadows were just shadows. The intrusive thoughts were just thoughts. None of it meant anything.

Arthur’s life takes a nosedive in the space of just a week after he falls terribly ill and his not-girlfriend leaves him on the same night.
