The hand in his hair gripped and tugged, the kiss breaking with a gasp, as Essek panted, their chests bumping, his voice thick as he spoke. “Caleb, you will suffocate me.” Caleb grinned and Essek laughed breathlessly in response. “You’re a menace.”
“I aim to please.” Caleb replied, grinning with mirth.
If Essek wanted to breathe, there were other options.

A sigh, steeped in contentment left his mouth. “I have missed you in my arms these last few weeks. I’d almost forgotten what you smell like.”
“Up until a few hours ago I’d have stunk of dust and week-old sweat.” Essek mutters with a soft chuckle, one that Caleb returns deep in his chest as he continues to take him in. “I was able to make stops here a few times,” Essek says after a few moments of stillness, then admitted in a whisper, “I slept in your clothes to feel you with me.”
Caleb’s body shudders and Essek feels a swell in his chest, a thread of excitement, that bud of arousal returning.

LIAM: (Caleb) Oh wait, I have a quick question because when Essek was, his disguise was dropped before the Bright Queen, Caleb immediately was thinking, does he need to wrap up his presence in Rexxentrum and vanish so that Essek-- I don't know how hard they are going to go for Essek, so in the week that comes, I think Caleb starts making bug out plans in case they get all of the Dynasty swarming on them, but if that doesn't happen--
MATT: Make an insight check for Caleb.
LIAM: Oh, that's not going to be good at all.
Caleb needs to keep his wizard safe. Essek helps him chill out.

“You would be cold initially, but I know how easily the idea of outraging your handlers could seduce you.” Caleb holds the nape of Essek’s neck and bites into his pulse. “You would be lonely, and hungry.” Caleb places another lush kiss right at his windpipe and adds, “How would you like me to be?”
Essek sighs as his eyes droop. What would have caught his eye during his courting years, separating a suitor after the Thelyss’ firstborn from the rest? Defiant? Direct? He thinks through Caleb’s distracting biting and settles on:
“Mean.”

Caleb lets the hand reaching for components fall heavy on a knuckle, knocking solidly on wood and holding it there. The sound echoes through the silence, into Essek’s bones.
“Clearly you are aware, arcanist, that a major point of holding these seminars is to receive feedback from our peers. While I am... grateful for your input, I’d ask that further questions be-”
“The ‘point’ of a lecture is to teach what you know, not throw half-baked theory at the audience to see what sticks! I’m honestly sick and tired of unschooled, untrained wizards waltzing in here to- to pontificate to their betters under the guise of arcane discovery!”
Caleb’s hand is still on the table, expression carefully neutral. “...Are you finished?”
Essek learns something new about himself while attending his partner's presentation.
