    Summary

The first itches of arousal are always accompanied by panic signals, which make him more jumpy than usual. It’s a slow-going process to unlearn abstinence, it seems.

But Hua Cheng is attentive to his everything and supportive in the utmost, willing to patiently craft a new state of existence with him.

    It’s lovely.

    Usually.

Xie Lian wants it now, and he doesn't want Hua Cheng to take no for an answer.

    Summary

Hua Cheng froze as his thoughts vanished abruptly. He was suddenly stunned stupid as he watched the memory play out below him, as he watched Xie Lian cup his cheeks and rise up on his toes to kiss him first. Though kiss wasn’t the right word, the prince tilted his head and slanted his lips to shove his tongue down his throat with passion.

He kissed him savagely as though to eat him alive, his hands running heavily up and down Hua Cheng’s chest, fisting into his red robes to yank him up deeper into that messy kiss they shared. There was something feral between them as they tangled together on top of that stone altar, something primal and wild and chaotic.

San Lang was so stunned, so shocked, he simply could not wrap his mind around it. Xie Lian seemed almost possessed as he gasped and moaned, steadily refusing to let that Hua Cheng up for air. There was so much heat between them, so much fiery passion it was a wonder the temple didn’t burn down to ashes.

San Lang stared at the pair in the temple below him as his shock started to fade and instead a rush of mad jealousy reared up in his heart. Xie Lian had never kissed him like that before.

    Summary

The steady clatter of drops on the roof of Puqi Shrine is soothing, in a way. It makes the rest of the world disappear, and it makes it easy to get lost in his thoughts. Thoughts which, more often than not, drift back to Hua Cheng. Hua Cheng smiling at him, Hua Cheng letting him talk about the prayers he received from the villagers, Hua Cheng eating his cooking with a pleased shimmer in his eyes, murmuring “not bad, gege,” with his mouth full. “Maybe a little less spice next time, but overall really not bad.”

Xie Lian smiles at the memory, turning from his back onto his side to curl his knees into his chest like a little shrimp. And if he wiggles his toes a little because he’s happy, well, there’s no one else around to see it.

    Summary

Hua Cheng managed to grab E-Ming from his side at the last second and crush it to the ground while simultaneously finding the tip of Fangxin pressing on his throat. Hua Cheng did not move from his position and was for a second surprised by how fast was Xie Lian.

    "Who are you?"

    "Hua Cheng, Your Highness."

    "Who are you, I asked."

"The Lord of the Ghost City, Your Highness. You are currently in my abode."

The tip of the sword barely sank, but Hua Cheng continued to do nothing. The situation was definitely worse than expected.

    Summary

Shackles are heavy, cursed or not. They sit on you weighing you down, making it difficult to use whatever arm or leg you’re unfortunate enough to have it placed on. And if it’s somewhere else? Well the emperor must hate you then.

Maybe that’s why he didn’t scream. Maybe that’s why he didn’t cry out and beg to be freed from that coffin.

Maybe that’s why he’s still quiet.

No matter how strong you are, how used to it you may be, all that weight on your neck would surely make it difficult to breathe.

    —-
When Xie Lian is dug up approximately 200 years into his purgatory-like time being buried he relishes that first breath of fresh air… and nearly chokes on the weight around his neck.

He has so many questions… but is speaking worth the lump that rises in his throat every time… afraid of the feeling he knows all too well?

**this is the first part in a series. It can be read as a standalone fic with a bittersweet ending though.

I lied. I’m leaving the previous sentence up so ppl aren’t confused but I’ve decided to continue in THIS fic instead of posting each part individually.

*some timeline edits being made for clarity.
