Gwen had always known she was smart. Her intelligence was all her parents ever talked about. It was also why her parents had insisted on sending Gwen to the best schools possible, no matter the cost, and no matter the distance.
Her father grabbed Gwen by the shoulder. “Gwen, this is Rio and Jeff Morales, you two remember Gwen, right?”
“Oh, um, yes, hello, Gwen.” Jeff gave her a small smile.
“This is our son, Miles.” Rio added. “We're enrolling him here because he was always the top of his class, and we want him to have the best education possible.” she said briefly, clearly trying to end the conversation.
“Well, I guess we’ll see how he shapes up now that he’s in competition with my Gwen!” her father chuckled awkwardly.
“Well, we’d better get going. Miles has got a lot of unpacking to do.” Rio said quickly.
“Yes. Lots of unpacking.” Miles said. Gwen smiled at the sound of his voice, because somehow his voice souded like honey and lavender and sugar all combined.

And maybe, Gwen should have actually eaten something before going to sleep. It wouldn’t have helped fixing her emotional struggles, but at least maybe, it could have saved her from her longest and most difficult battle.
But who could imagine that such a minor decision could affect someone’s life so tremendously?
Not even grown-up Gwen could believe it, and no matter how much she tried to make any sense out of it, she could not find the answer to that.

There's something in him, nagging away at him and holding him back but he doesn't know what it is and so, can't fix it. He has people on his side now though. People that can help him through this. Well, mostly one specific person. And she's going to try her damn hardest to free him from whatever's locking him away from his happiness.

Summary
Even after he defeated Spot and saved his dad, Miles wasn't able to clean up the situation nicely. There was still a single loose end that needed to be tied up and he just couldn't bring himself to do it. Because he could heal physically pretty quickly but emotionally? That was a whole other story. He knew what he wanted but were his wounds still too raw to attempt it? Or maybe the wounds had scarred over so badly that he couldn't work around them.
First ever fic, I just couldn't get the movie out of my head and had to write something about it since the sequel isn't gonna be out for a while. Constructive criticism is appreciated :)
