“What is that doing here?” He tried pulling away from Shadow as he spoke, but Shadow’s grip on Sonic’s arm was unwavering.
“Your distraction,” said Shadow, pulling Sonic over with him.
Suddenly, the dots connected. “Hold on, you want me to…” Sonic waved a useless paw at the seat behind Shadow. “You want me to get on with you?!”
Shadow’s eyes narrowed again, but he didn’t sit upright. The casual air about his rival drove Sonic nuts. “Unless you’d rather waste away in your hovel you call a home,” said Shadow, an edge of tension in his voice.
One sprained ankle, one motorcycle, and one very confusing joyride under the night sky.

“Who the hell are you?” said Shadow, not quite cutting to the point so much as bluntly crashing straight through to it. “Introduce yourself.”
Rouge looked at him and sighed. “Don’t mind him,” she said to the stranger. “I think he’s decided to get revenge on me for forcing him out of the house by playing some sort of prank.”
Shadow spluttered indignantly. “I’m the one playing some sort of prank? Rouge, I'm not stupid. This is an entirely different hedgehog.”
“Hey, it’s alright,” said the stranger, an odd indulgent smile playing at their lips. They regarded the situation very calmly, like Shadow’s growing anger was merely a passing amusement. “You did spring the invite on him pretty suddenly, yeah? I’d be pissy, too.”
“I am not – ugh, just drop the joke already, it isn’t funny! Who are you? Did Sonic put you up to this?”
The stranger chuckled. “Dude, I am Sonic.”
They most certainly were not.

Summary
An akuma messes with the timeline by switching one distinct and important individual - Marinette Dupain-Cheng.
With two black cats in one world and the other world having two ladybugs, Hawkmoth has ruined his and the other Hawkmoth's chances of ever getting the miraculous set unless they can bring the other back to the correct timeline.
Unfortunately, the story won't focus on Hawkmoth banging his head on the wall, but on Marinette who navigates her new environment.
