Summary
After the end, The Archivist and Martin Blackwood do end up somewhere else. That somewhere else turns out to be a mirror of their own universe, except early enough to save everyone, barely. They arrive right when Jane Prentiss is laying waste to the Archives.
So, this isn't finished, but I don't know when I'll have time to continue it, if ever, but I still like what I did finish enough to not leave it languishing unseen. The six chapters I did get done will be posted one per day. For what it's worth, I hope you enjoy what's here.

Summary
She keeps all of the messages that come through her Tangle. Reporter’s habit. She doesn’t tend to hold onto things, and she isn’t exactly the nostalgic type, but words, even the ones she can’t use, are a particular vice of hers, and she feels no need to break the habit anytime soon. She likes to go through some of them and listen from time to time, just to hear the voices of their senders. They keep her company when she can’t sleep on long flights, or they remind her that she doesn’t need to be lonely, because people out there are thinking of her.
Others, though. Others only see the light of day when she’s a different kind of lonely.

The great thing about being on a team where everybody has been shaped primarily by a combination of egotism and some flavour of childhood trauma is the guessing game you get to play when something about a situation is clearly affecting your teammate(s), and you have to figure out how to handle it without anybody acknowledging that there's anything going on. Everybody loses if any of you have to talk about the feelings that you definitely do not have.

The launch shuttle shakes like Maxwell’s hands after one too many energy drinks, like a badly wired bomb before detonation, like Kelpler’s voice when he’s about to yell at them for doing something stupid. Jacobi prays to the God he doesn’t believe in that they don’t explode into a million tiny particles.
And they don’t. But really, it might have been a mercy if they did. Jacobi doesn’t like space, but he follows orders.

Summary

It's almost as though this wasn't pure coincidence.
