The year was 1926. Anthony J. Crowley and his wife were in need of a tutor for their young son Adam. Dozens applied for the job, but only one stuck out above the rest - a kind bookshop owner from Soho. Summary
It’s true they’ve managed two conversations, during which information has certainly been exchanged, but Aziraphale has found them bizarre, uncomfortable affairs. Outside their conversations Aziraphale is rather under the impression Crowley is waiting for him to make a mistake. He often catches the man staring intensely at him across the room, as if expecting him to trip over his own shoelaces or spill his drink down his own jacket.
He doesn't like Crowley and Crowley doesn't like him. Right? Azirpahale can't possibly have got that one wrong.
