“TWO FIFTY!” someone shouted from the crowd.
The rest of the room fell silent, auctioneer included. It seemed like he was never going to stop talking.
“Two fifty?” the salesperson clarified.
“Two fifty,” the voice shouted back.
The auctioneer cleared their throat before continuing. “Two fifty! Two fifty, going once… two fifty, going twice… two fifty, going thrice… SOLD!”
And just like that, Tommy’s fate was sealed.
“To the gentleman in the green and white hat.”
OR: the government created hybrids, but Tommy isn't happy to just be an experiment, so he tries to rebel (which goes poorly) and the government goes "imma sell you now." Phil picks up a stray bird cuz his kids wanted a new pet.
