"I’m sorry.” Sokorra said, an edge of laughter in her voice. She came around Beta so that her face came back into Beta’s eyeline. “I just didn't expect any family of Aloy's to be so..." Beta saw Sokorra visibly pause over her word choice. "...passive."
Considering that Elisabet and Beta were both computer scientists, which didn't usually include a lot of intense physical activity or violence, Beta would argue that Aloy was actually the odd one out in their weird little family tree.
“Any idiot can hit something with a stick until it stops moving.” Beta said curtly. “After all, if you can do it it can’t be that hard.”

Summary
“You are mistaken, my lady, if you think I will submit myself to the flames again.” It was in her anger that her courtly words slipped, the artifice of nobility slipping from her mouth like a broken bridle. “The tantrums of a pampered prince are not reason enough to die in his place. I will go to the castle, speak to the King, and end this ridiculous charade!”
The hope that had risen in the Fire Keepers chest was put out all at once. Another Unkindled unwilling to fulfill their duty. The taste of it was bitter to the tongue. “Then I wish thee well.” The Fire Keeper stood, brushing ash from her robes. Her voice was curt. Sharp, where before it had been lyrical and soft.
“Milady-”
“Do not take my words as an ill omen upon thy journey. If the King still resides in the high seat, and if he has the power to command the Lords, I grant thee my blessing.”
Empty words, for a fool's errand. The Ashen One and the Firekeeper from the beginning to the end.

Summary
Somehow, Palpatine has died.
This does not make the galaxy any safer for our favourite heroes and villains. Darth Vader still hunts for his son with a single-minded obsession. The Imperial Armed Forces, now split and collapsing under the weight of a civil war, seek to ruthlessly gain control over their selected territories.
And Death Squadron, lead under Admiral Piett’s impeccable command, is forced to the edge of the galaxy under the strain. With no reinforcements, no resources, and no long term hope of survival, they are forced to beg the Rebellion for aid.
Not that the Rebellion of all organisations can be the ally Death Squadron desperately needs… can they?

Summary
Galinda Upland is an up-and-coming architect with one of Oz' premier firms, Morrible & Diggs. She's most definitely straight. (But, still, she has sex with women and tells herself it doesn't count.)
Elphaba Thropp is the dour, antisocial chief legal counsel at the same firm. She's bi. She has needs. People aren't exactly lining up to date her, and Galinda is convenient, even if Elphaba knows better than to get involved with the most closeted woman she's ever met. (Besides, she's absolutely not looking for anything but sex.)
And thus, the arrangement.
Reader, you'll be shocked to find it goes off the rails.
