his eyes trained on Simon’s face.
The freckled skin, the wrinkles around his eyes and eyebrows, the expressiveness of his features. The scars and the small indents that when John really thought about it could look like the shape of that skull mask, but he wasn’t really sure. It was there, when Simon needed a short break on a bench, laughing at a comment John made, that it hit John. A warm feeling spreading in his chest like dye in water. He didn’t feel lonely.
Because Simon had filled that void with his jokes, his stories and warm timbre voice. Living in John’s mind even when he was at home watching TV or making dinner for one. It was a slow realisation, warm and sappy slithering through his veins and arteries. Smiling wider despite the conversation not really catering for it.

“Son, you’re glowing.” Price stated after he watched Soap defuse and rip out the guts, sitting back on his haunches with a grin.
Blinking, Soap looked down at himself and cursed internally, all his tattoos were glowing bright for the world to see. Ghost’s words wrapped around his wrists, the thistles, every mark he had highlighted that was a near death wound. Words, so many of them, Price, Gaz, Alej, Rudy… things that he drew that reflected his life.

All it took was a wrong turn down a dark alleyway, and faster than he could fathom, he’d been robbed of his humanity and sense of normalcy.
Now he’s a self-recriminating vampire, using the military as a means of survival and sanctuary. He’s a recluse above all else, preferring isolation due to his true nature, which he works hard to keep hidden. He’s constantly looking over his shoulder, keeping everyone at arm’s length, and doing what he must to satiate his thirst.
He’s fine with trudging through life alone—everything’s more simple for him that way. And so far, everything’s as it should be, until he gets loaned to 141. Enter Soap and his less-than-friendly-looking shadow, Ghost.
König instantly takes a liking to the amiable Scotsman. His partner, Ghost, seems rather dubious of him, and he finds himself stuck between a rock and a hard place.
He’s terrified of being found out, of accidentally slipping up. But he can’t tear himself away from Soap, not after his company has warmed his cold, barely beating heart. And with Soap comes Ghost’s skeptical, attentive eye, which he can’t seem to shake.
Yeah. A rock and a hard place, indeed.

Ghost was odd from the second they met. The mask was weird, for starters, but so was his greeting, or lack thereof. See, when over half the population went their whole lives without ever finding their soulmate, people liked to try to increase the odds of finding theirs.
