"I cannot trap you in a loveless marriage!" Penelope finally says, wrenching her hands away from his. She tries not to scream this in frustration. She tries not to cry.
"And what of you?" Colin questions, head tilted, eyes narrowed.
"What about me?" She questions back. She calms down a little, tired but not giving up.
"Do you love me?" He replies. Colin looks into her eyes, hoping, praying that she says yes.
"What?" Penelope is shocked. She did not expect that. Then again she did not expect Colin to follow her carriage.
In which Penelope says no to Colin's proposal after the Carriage Scene. In which she tells him about Lady Whistledown before "entrapping" him
