Summary
Castiel Novak has a dull, predictable life. He's single, lonely, and lives with his cat. He's also had the same job at Sandover International for eight long years.
Dean Winchester doesn't seem to be going anywhere. His job sucks, and his previous bad experiences have put him firmly back in the closet. He's spent so long looking after his brother, he doesn't remember how to have anything for himself.
Everything changes for them both when Castiel's brother talks him into partnering on a new business venture - Casa2, an LGBT-friendly venue in their small, conservative town.
Working in the bar at night, Castiel begins receiving phone calls from a cautious-but-charming mystery man 'Armando'. His new acquaintance is trying to get up the courage to come out to more people than just his brother, and Castiel finds himself invested in helping. An odd phone-friendship blooms, as they both turn out to be just what the other needs.
Trying not to either risk his job or let down his brother, Castiel finds himself torn. Would Armando ever want more than friendship from him? Or should he beg the sexy new maintenance man at his office to come and fix all his problems...

Dean wasn’t the type of person who did this kind of thing. He just wasn’t. GISH?? Ugh. The whole thing was just further proof that Dean would do anything his brother wanted him to do. Why else would he be in a Stormtrooper costume, calling up his ex-girlfriend for a private yoga class? Had he been stuck in a rut that long? Given that he’d been pining for the same freakin’ guy, his professor and coworker no less, for three long years… maybe.
Cas was definitely the type of person who did this kind of thing, not that many people knew that. He was one of the most well-respected professors at KSU. His students and coworkers didn’t need to know that he was captain of a GISH team, or that he knitted kinky accessories and made art with his online friends. His TA certainly didn’t need to know either. Just professionalism, of course. Nothing at all to do with the failed attempt at a relationship, three years of pining, and frequent inappropriate daydreams.

Spoilers for The Hanged Man by ellispark.
Dean is hanged after his plans for mutiny and escape from the cult he was raised in are found out, but survives as he is discovered just in time by a park ranger with blue eyes and PTSD. He later learns that the cult's leader, his father Samuel Campbell, and his mother Deanna are actually his grandparents, and Samuel abducted him from a supermarket as a child to get back at his daughter Mary for leaving him. The seeds of revolution that Dean managed to sow before his attempted execution help Deanna and the half of the camp not loyal to Samuel escape. Reunited with both his biological families as well as finding a new one in Cas and Bobby at the Park, Dean has everything he needs to make a new beginning. Except escaping his past may not be as simple as refusing to look back at it, and though Dean might not live in an apocalypse shelter in the middle of the forest anymore, something tells him he isn't yet out of the woods.
An analysis of complicity, and of the grey space between victimhood and monstrosity where the bystander will go to die. Basically my love letter to what is undoubtedly one of the finest thrillers I have read this year, please do check that out.

Dean understands Castiel's need in a way he'd never thought possible from someone outside of the community, and he doesn't judge him for his disbelief in the societal bounds of monogamy. As the two of them work to get to the bottom of Castiel's problem, Castiel ultimately questions whether or not the adult entertainment industry is where he really wants to be...
and not for nothing, but Dr. Winchester might be his perfect Submissive.

Dean Winchester doesn’t answer to anybody about anything. Not about his ever changing hair color or tattoos, not his music, and definitely not about all the fucks he definitely doesn’t give. Of course, then he meets pretentious, skinny jean wearing, ugly sweater buying Castiel Edlund who’s hardest lot in life is probably alphabetizing inventory at his uncle’s record store, and suddenly Dean has to answer for everything.
Castiel, on the other hand, had long since accepted his fate as an anti-social, directionless, and misunderstood soul, with his cat, Meg, and a bottle of whiskey being the only company he needed. But then fate threw him Dean, the abrasive, infuriating punk who wears guyliner, and walks around like the chip on his shoulder is something to be proud of, and Castiel’s carefully constructed life was turned ass over teakettle.
After a heated exchange upon first meeting, a mutual loathing afterwards, and the glaring opposites in their lives, neither of them sees the point of mixing oil and water. Which would be all good and well, except neither of them seems to be able to stay away from the other.
