Summary
After the harrowing events of Mystic Falls, the Mikaelsons set their sights on the tangled web of New Orleans. The city had once been their seat of power until they were forced to abandon it to fire and blood. The supernatural factions they’d established have long since fallen apart:
Vampires rule with an iron fist. Witches cannot perform magic without fear of death. Werewolves have been cursed to the shadowy swamps of the bayou where they are further away from humanity than they’ve ever been before.

nature demanded a balance. anyone who was aware of the supernatural world knew this rule. even those who lived unaware, called it ‘karma.’
if you did bad, nature gives you bad. if you did good, nature gives you good.
yet, what has become of klaus mikaelson? the only reason he does bad, is because nature gives him bad. but since nature gives him bad, he gets bad. it’s a vicious cycle the man has had to live with for the thousand years he’s been walking the planet.
it was unfair, to him, truly. because it was not he that delivered the bad, first. it was nature. it was nature that took the love of his life away.
or did it?
when he arrives in mystic falls, a town he once grew up in, the only thing on his mind was the petrova doppleganger that would solve all his problems. so he was more than surprised to find the former (not really) love of his life in that very same town. the town they fell in love in.
a thousand question swirled around his mind, all of them concerning the girl he once gave his heart to.
