    Chapter 102

    I really like this! The slice of life ness and Vik! The exploration and worldbuilding is wonderful. And I also adore the numbers go up haha. But it’s not like in your face like some litrpgs are? The focus is on the act of improving the skills and stuff not on making sure the reader knows the numbers are going up. I also really like the System here. It’s cheeky and in Vik’s corner, subtle and not as a full fledged character which can get annoying like those mascot characters. Also, their personality is more there to add some sassyness into the scene only so there is a lot of room for the reader to ponder about it. Leave some things to the imagination. I am most excited to read more about Vik and interacting with canon character finally! After like 90 chapters lolol.

    Vic SI who comes from a Flame Active town called Sleepy in Romanian. Ann the Storm girl who activated when she got deathly sick and Vik cured her, Krili the Sunny Mist a month older who ran to the circus for his beloved elephants, twins Abram and calmer Albert Lightnings who were adopted by a leather and seamstress couple, Matton and Auntie of the Rainbow orphanage and Lucia or something, an old biker granny with piercings and a high level. The entity Dr who is also a gamer and mysteriously high level. A Sky jewelsmith Alice. Chester the Cloudy Mist. Nor is a golem protector dog.

    Vik’s familiars are Bast the cat, Crowbar the crow and Stripes the teenaged tiger. Vik knows a gazilian languages, many many hobbies and a uncontrollable tendency to let his Flames claim things and people he likes. He knows kage Bunshin and spams them to explore places and Quick Travel via his Map. He has an internal music player.

And now he’s years back in time, with a laundry list of very vague instructions about what not to do if he wants to prevent that, given to him by a ninja version of himself that kissed him on the mouth.

    Koby's Awful No-Good Very Confusing Day

    Chapter 20

    This was such a pleasant surprise! When I read that the mc was Koby, I was hesitant to read it even though it's time travel, nakama focused, long ish and has a lot of kudos to vouch for it. Because I thought it was going to be basically full of Koby being anxious and worried about everything going wrong the entire time, making the tone and experience of the story feel negative. But while he is anxious and worried, the tone of this story is heartwarming and hopeful and very One Piece!

    The writing style is a major reason for this! It's snappy and somehow goes straight to the heart of the mater. It's quite impressive. At 100 000 words it's already past Drum Island which is so efficient. But I didn't feel that we had lost anything or that it was rushed. Very nice.

    And I am loving Koby here. All the One Piece typical feels are there too. It's a wonderful canon like feeling piece of fanfiction for the fandom that isn't a shippy fic and has very good quality writing.

    The differences from canon isn't significant which is what I usually want in fanfiction while still keeping the essence of it...but watching through Koby's eyes, his reactions and actions are definitely a breathe of fresh air to the other time travel type fics. It's delightful to get to know him and his growth! And also to happily root for him to have fun and enjoy himself. I quite like him hehe.

    Also, the tags that might imply that this fic would be a drag (sexuality crisis) was more fun than something big that would overshadow the story. It really only appears in first chapter and with this efficient type of writing, we breeze past through it and focused on the more enjoyable parts of the story pretty quickly. The sexuality crisis served as a basis to get to know this Koby which made it interesting!

    Luffy gathered Law into his arms, held him close to his chest. He looked up at the battle around him, at the thing that killed his Law, and he screamed.

    The world would forget about this place, the island that would be called the Great Kingdom. They would forget about the people, the accomplishments, and they would forget that the Sun God Nika destroyed everything in his path in his grief.

    Or: Luffy is the Sun God and fell in love with the human Law. Even death will not do them part.

    The Jikan Jikan no Mi was a fruit capable not of pushing someone through time, but of pushing time through a person. A person's future self is brought to the present and, afterwards, time snaps back to bring their younger self forward. When Luffy collapses at Marineford, its holder comes forward and offers to use her powers rather than let him have a second hormone injection from Iva. The power is not without its risks, but Luffy does not hesitate to accept. If he had a chance to be stronger—or to bring a stronger him in his place, even temporarily—then he would take it.
