Words Hurt & Even Murder But They Can Help Too

Summary:

Izuku was the lucky one. Though people treated him horribly, he had his mom there to give him a safe place. All Might looked at his actions and said he could be a hero. A dream he always wanted a chance at with a quirk to boot.

Rumi wasn't so lucky. Her parents died when she was young, people bullied her relentlessly, and her adopted parents lied and shamed her dreams. No one took the time to see HER just a quirkless nothing. So, she did just what they wanted, what they been telling her to do. However, she made sure they didn't come out unscathed.

Now she at Yuuei being 'helped.'

Words can murder people, bring out the worst in them, or a mix of both. They can also heal, if you truly believe in them.

Chapter 1: Saving Someone Who Doesn’t Want It

Chapter Text

Rumi Tanaka
Age 16
Quirkless
High risk patient
Suicidal tendencies

The school wants to try,
Wants to give her a chance.
They are a school for Heroes!
Protecting and saving those in need.

They didn’t understand the hospital’s reluctance.
The best medical station,
The best doctor and nurse,
A perfect situation.

Sighs and grumbles,
Tired faces and scornful looks.
The Hospital gave in.
She’s escorted in a wheelchair,
Cuffed like a rabid villain.

Rumi. Was. Hell.
HELL.
Experienced heroes cringe at her glare;
Words so sharp
Metaphorical blood split everyday.

No psychological degree,
Nor the interest, yet
Minds were fucked;
No matter the age
No matter the experience.

3 months, 1 week, 4 days:
16 suicide attempts,
3 students needing therapists, and
2 teachers self-banned from her bed.

All Might,
Number 1 Hero,
The Symbol of Peace,
Could only bring her grief and frustration.

Different powers,
Quiet or loud
Flashy or stealthy,
Only bring out her anger,
Clever stabs and quicker attempts.

She did not take sweet words,
Not take heroic compliments,
Not take encouragements nor pleas.
“She doesn’t want saving....”

Izuku Midoriya,
Kind, Strong, and Determined,
The cinnamon bun of the school,
Wants to work with her.

All Might said no.
He knows the boy’s pain from bullying,
Knows it dropped his self-esteem.
Their first meeting, he was so fragile....
No.

A week later,
Izuku walks to her bed,
Beaten and bruised notebooks in hand,
'Hero Analysis' haphazardly written.

“This is the first notebook I’ve ever made.
I heard you’re quite clever,
Wanna hear this?”

Chapter 2: Normal

Summary:

Rumi was too tired for this shit. Now, she just wants to go and be done with everything. This poor excuse of saving her, a publicity stunt, didn't help one bit. The green cotton puff was confusing her.

Why does he bother? Doesn't he see that she's too damaged, too scarred, to be bother with?

Doesn't he see... that now, especially now,... she's not worth saving...?

Notes:

TRIGGER WARNING; MENTIONS OF SUICIDE

Chapter Text

There was so many heroes,
14 years worth,
So, one every 3 days;
So much analysis.

Izuku mumbles and mutters.
Rumi is silent.
Suicide attempts: 16

4 months pass,
40 heroes reviewed and fixed.
One voice still heard.
Suicide attempts: 15

2 months move by,
Not much changed:
His hope unwavered
Her voice still yet not her eyes.
Suicide attempts: 12

2 more months,
She pops.
Not understanding.

“Why do you keep talking to me?!
Don’t you know what I did
To your classmates, to your teachers?!
I’m practically a villain! Give up.”

Surprised yet not fearful
Nothing changes his features nor heart.
A quiet smile with a strong answer.

“You're not a villain, not even close.
You’ve only hurt some people, and
They were disrespecting
your boundaries and feelings.”

“Such amazing first gaze analysis
And a clever tongue with it,
Many people visit you,
Weaknesses and fears in plain view,
Yet few face your wrath.
It’s not completely right,
But your not heartless.”

“A villain doesn’t care,
You're not a villain.”
Silence.
Eyes back to the vast nothingness.
The single voice carries on.

3 months pass.
Still the same one voice,
Sad eyes watch his mouth flicker.
Suicide attempts: 9

A year has gone by.
2 voices illuminate the usually dim room.
Quick mumbles and complex theories
Never felt so good to hear.
Suicide attempts: 5

6 months later....
Finally.
They both sit cross legged on the bed
Muttering back and forth
A hospital room appearing like a teenage one.
Friends.

3 months are gone now.
Rumi is in college;
Sailing thru the high school exam with excellence.
She’s studying for intelligence agencies.
Izuku meets her everyday after school.

“Midoriya, my boy,
How did you do it?
All you did was speak with her;
How did you revive her will to live?”

Smile widens
Showing teeth.
Green eyes were bright,
A hint of weariness
Yet the hue never dimming.

“I treated her like any other person
What people are usually treated like.
How friends group together
Or a first meeting.”

“I talked to her like a normal person.”

Notes:

So, before you throw stones at me, please know that I'm not saying that every suicide victim are people who try to hurt others before killing themselves. I believe there are people who react or think certain ways that either keep the negatives on themselves or push it on others before they died. Sometimes it is both, in between, or neither, just tiredness.

Rumi is the latter on both. She's just tired of life being an asshole to her yet wants to make sure others who've wronged her don't just live without any repercussions. It's not RIGHT in any way nor acceptable, but she full of scorn and much too emotional hurt to listen to just anyone.

That's my take on this. So please tell me if that's wrong, flawed, and/or ignorant. I will take this off if so.
