A bit of a mixed bag, this one.
I don't remember how far I got in this before I stopped keeping up with the updates, but I remember that after they get to the lighthouse, things started to drag. It really didn't help that I fall in the camp of, not necessarily 'Homura did nothing wrong', but rather, to reference a tumblr post by Prokopetz, the 'substitutionary atonement is an abomination and anything anyone did to undo it is automatically completely morally justified' camp, which makes it... kind of unpleasant to read a story that, while it seems to pity Homura, also seems to expect me to agree that her actions were overall unjust, which just isn't how I feel about it.
(I'm sure it also doesn't help that I'm only really familiar with half of the cast - SM and PMMM, and partially with CCS, while MGLN and Precure are effectively blanks to me. Not that that's the author's problem, or anything within their power to fix, but that definitely affected my enjoyment of a story that spends interminable amounts of time on just character interactions.)
It also also didn't help that - at least as far as I remember reading - we never really learned how the villain organization is structured. It works very well for the first section to have them as this overwhelming wave of evil, but when the heroes are trying to fight back against them, it leaves the overall stakes feeling vague and unclear to not know how the evil organization is actually organized. I could be misremembering, though, or remembering a misreading.
Last of my negatives, Fantine is an odious, hypocritical worm and I hope that before the story ends the lighthouse is destroyed with her in it.
On the other hand, even the parts of the story I dislike are extremely well-written on a technical level, the large cast is managed impressively well even if I'm personally unfamiliar with half of it, and everything up until they arrive at the lighthouse is some absolutely iconic darkfic.
And, it's absolutely amazing that it's still ongoing after all this time. Regardless of my feelings on individual plot points, or even on the story as a whole, I wish BHS the best, and I'm rooting for them to successfully finish it one day.
