Chapter Text
You’ve always longed to see the colour of the sky and the colours of flowers and trees. A greyscale world, as beautiful as it can be, is dull when there are just various shades of grey. You’ve heard people talk about how beautiful the world truly is with colour and how they could never go back to seeing the world in black and white once they’ve found their soulmates. The world was already beautiful in its own way. You let out a silent sigh as you turned up the volume of your music. You often kept it just low enough to still hear if there were any announcements but the couple sitting across from you on the train were louder than the intercom. Thankfully your stop came up pretty quickly and you escaped the PDA of the couple across from you. Why people felt the need to be so lovey-dovey in public you just couldn’t understand. Holding hands, fine. Pecks on the lips or cheeks, just fine. Full-on making out in public? Disgusting. You rolled your eyes and you walked up the stairs from the subway station. The chill breeze hit your face much quicker than you were expecting and you pulled your heavy jacket tighter around you, fixing your thick scarf in place, covering up to your eyes with its warmth. It had gotten colder since you’d gotten on the subway and it was definitely going to snow in the very near future and you couldn’t wait to get home.
It started slowly, small flakes of snow gently trickling down from the clouds above, it was that type of romantic snowfall where people in movies would walk hand in hand, bumping into their significant other. You always thought the snow was beautiful... at a distance. You’d never been one to want to be in it or really play in it. The dampness seeped into your clothing and a violent shiver wracked your entire body, making your teeth rattle as you hurried down the sidewalk to your apartment. Your shivering didn’t stop even when you reached the sanctuary of your apartment. The heat was on, you sent a silent thanks to whatever gods would listen and hurried over to the heater.
“Welcome home, Y/N!” You heard your roommate’s voice call from the kitchen. “The snow’s going to get heavy tonight. They said it could be a whiteout.” You frowned.
“Why am I c-c-cursed to live in this state?” You replied, another shiver shaking through you.
The footsteps of your roommate grew closer and you felt hands reach around to unwrap your scarf from around your neck. “Come on, you’ll feel warmer when you get these damp things off you.” You’re once again silently thanking whoever sent you this angel of a person that took such good care of you.
“What would I do without you, Jimin?” You questioned, allowing the blonde man to pull your heavy jacket off your shoulders.
“Freeze to death? Starve? Get fired and kicked out of school because you slept in late?” He listed, chuckling when you glared at him. “What? I’m only telling you the truth.” Once the damp items were removed from your person you started to feel much warmer, the heat from the heater reaching you much faster than just drying off the outer layer you were wearing. “Go take a hot shower, your fleece pyjama pants are on your bed, freshly cleaned.”
Jimin was too good for you. “You’re amazing as always.” You spoke, heading to your room. It was obvious that Jimin had been home all day, your room was spotless, your bed made, even the plushies on your bed were neatly organized. “I love that man.” You said to yourself as you picked through the laundry that was neatly folded at the bottom of your bed. Jimin was always nice enough to wash and fold it but said that he never wanted to go through your drawers. When you had questioned his reasoning he mentioned that one of his previous roommates had sex toys tucked away in theirs and he vowed to never deal with that again.
It wasn’t until Jimin was knocking on the bathroom door that you had realized that you’d taken much longer than you intended in the shower. He called that dinner had arrived and that you should hurry before it got cold. Just outside the bathroom door sat your fuzzy fox house shoes and you slipped your feet in quickly before heading to your living room.
“And what did mister Jin, cook extraordinaire, bring us for dinner tonight?” You asked, smiling at the tall man that was now in your apartment.
“Y/N you shouldn’t come out with your hair wet like that, you’ll get sick.” The dark-haired man frowned, pulling the towel from your neck to cover your head, rubbing the dampness from your hair.
You could hear Jimin laughing from just across the table and you wanted to throw something at him if only you could see. “Jin,” you complained, reaching up to stop his hands and peek out from the towel. “It’s fine. It’s not like I’m leaving the apartment.” You smiled up at him and he gave you a final rub on the head before pulling his hand away.
“You’re right, you’re an adult. You’re allowed to get sick if you want to.” He teased, turning to the table. “Anyway, I brought hotpot for you both today.” He noted, scooping some of the delicious smelling soup from the pot he’d brought over.
Jin lived just across the hall from you and Jimin. He’s lived in the apartment complex longer than you both and when he found out that neither of you knew how to cook he started bringing over dinner for you at least three times a week with enough food to leave you with leftovers. It wasn’t until he invited you over for dinner once that you found out that he could see colours. He’d found his soulmate. Namjoon, his husband, is one of the sweetest people you knew. Both he and Jin checked on you and Jimin often, making sure you had groceries and were taking care of yourselves. You see them a bit as parental figures and since you were thousands of miles from your actual parents, it was nice. Sometimes you joked at them, calling them “dad” when you wanted to tease them.
“I’ll see you both later, I have to make sure Joon didn’t touch the cake while I was gone,” Jin spoke, ruffling Jimin’s hair before heading out. Jimin started laughing when Jin left and you joined in quickly at the thought of Jin getting home and Namjoon caught red-handed with cake.
After dinner you and Jimin curled up on the couch, you snuggled up to him for warmth beneath the heavy throw blanket you shared. The wind picked up outside and you could hear the snow pelting against the windows outside. The thought of the cold sent a shiver straight through you, causing Jimin to laugh.
“You really can’t handle the cold, can you Y/N?” He teased, slipping his fingers just beneath the hem of your shirt at your waist.
You yelped and swatted at him. “Your hands are cold!”
Jimin shook his head and wrapped his arms around you, holding you close against him. “I’m sorry I’m not as warm as you’d like. It’s like you’re sapping all the warmth right out of me.” He replied, attempting to warm you up more. You snuggled further against him, getting comfortable. To outsiders it would look like you both were a couple but your relationship with Jimin was nothing more than platonic. You were soulmates in a different sense. Best friends. Fated to be friends forever and nothing was going to pull you apart. At least that’s what you always hoped anyway. Neither of you had found your true soulmates and both of you were still as colourblind as the days you were born. You two have been friends since primary school.
* * *
You didn’t notice that you’d fallen asleep against Jimin until his phone alarm was going off the next morning. It wasn’t rare for you both to fall asleep cuddled up together on the couch. It was a common occurrence. Now that his alarm was going off though, Jimin let out a groan as a complaint and slipped away from you, taking his warmth with him.
“I wonder if classes will be cancelled today.” He murmured, plucking his phone off of the kitchen table to silence the annoyance. “It’s still snowing...” He stated, glancing over at the window. You peeked over the back of the couch to watch Jimin mess with his phone, clearing notifications most likely. “No classes today. Roads are too slick and the snow’s not stopping anytime soon. It’s a blizzard.”
The word blizzard made you groan and you wrapped yourself in your blanket even further. “At least there are no classes. I’ll have to text Kookie and ask if the store’s open today.”
“I don’t see why it would be open, I’d be surprised if Kookie’s even awake yet. You know how late he stays up.” Jimin said as he started making breakfast. As usual, breakfast was just microwaved, this morning it seemed like oatmeal was on the menu.
Your breakfast was eaten in the living room and the two of you watched TV for a while. Schools were shut down for the rest of the week and you couldn’t help but frown. You wanted to work on your dance routine with Jimin and Taehyung. Maybe you could push the couch and coffee table out of the way and you could practice with them in the apartment. Jimin shook you a bit, his arm having been around your shoulder as you both sat on the couch.
“You’re thinking awfully hard about something,” Jimin stated, looking over at you.
You nodded slightly, looking up at him. Jimin was incredibly attractive. Anyone could see it. If only he wasn’t basically your brother. “I was thinking that maybe Tae could come over here to practice the routine.”
Jimin thought about it for a moment before nodding. “We might be able to get him over. It’d give me a break from your warmth sapping, that’s for sure.” He said, grinning. He pulled out his phone, opening his texts to find your shared friend’s messages.
“Tae’s warmer than you anyway.” You stated, watching as Jimin asked if he’d like to come over for practice. It reminded you that you still needed to text Jungkook about work. You sent a quick ‘is the store open today?’ before relaxing back into Jimin.
“Taetae’s in. He said he’ll help us move stuff in the living room around too.” Jimin said, moving you over so he could get up. “I suppose we should get ready then.” You gave a slight pout but you were in no position to argue since it was your idea in the first place.
You were sliding the coffee table underneath the kitchen table when there was a knock at the door. “Coming!” You called, hurrying over to let your friend in.
“Y/N!” Taehyung smiled his big boxy smile and entrapped you in his arms, pulling you into a tight hug. Despite his jacket being damp from the ongoing storm outside you could feel the warmth that he was putting off. He moved you both from the door, basically waddling away. You barely heard another set of footsteps follow him inside. You were too preoccupied in slipping your arms in the shaggy-haired man's jacket, hugging yourself around him. Once again, if only Taehyung had been your soulmate. Yet much like Jimin, your relationship was just as platonic. Tae whined when your fingers accidentally skimmed his bare skin. “Y/N, your hands are so cold.” He complained, holding you closer. “Jimin’s supposed to keep you warm when I’m not around.”
You could hear Jimin snort from near the couch. “I do my best. It’s just that Y/N takes all my warmth and then I’m the one cold.”
“My poor baby bear.” Taehyung cooed, rocking the both of you slightly. “I’m here now and soon you’ll be moving too much to worry about being cold. Now, let’s get the couch out of the way so we can start.” He began to pull away slowly before jumping slightly. “Also! I found a fourth for us! Now we can practice properly!” He stated, gesturing to another person that had come with him. “This is Hoseok. He’s a year ahead of us but he said he’d love to help us with the routine.”
“Tae you’re amazing!” Jimin cheered, heading over to greet the new member of your team. “I’m Jimin! This is Y/N! It’s nice to have you with us.”
Your eyes left Taehyung as he started dressing down and felt to the stranger in your apartment. It was strange. Your eyes were on Hoseok but also not. Your eyes had anchored themselves to his scarf and his eyes stared at you.
“Y/N?” Jimin said your name, tilting his head slightly. “Are you okay? It’s not nice to stare, you know.” He crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow at you but you didn’t really notice.
Taehyung did notice, however, and prodded you in the side. “Y/N.” He whined, slipping his arms around your waist and pulling you against him, his warmth enveloping you immediately, causing you to close your eyes and lean against him.
Jimin noticed Hoseok flinch at the sight. “Y/N’s like a snake.” He spoke. “They get cold easily and Tae’s the warmest of us.” He shrugged a bit. “We’re a very close trio.” He added, smirking at the other man who seemed to be trying to hide a frown, not that you noticed. Taehyung was distracting you with his heavenly body heat. “Okay!” Jimin’s voice broke you from your trance. “Let’s get this couch moved so we can work. If we can get a lot done then we’ll get more practice in before we go back next week.”
* * *
Dancing was a bit more difficult for you than it usually was. Normally you could keep up with Jimin but today you were making a spectacle of yourself. So much so that both of your friends kept asking if you were okay. “Just the weather.” You had replied, though you were pretty sure the reason behind your difficulties was Hoseok. You’d never had too much trouble before and it was around lunchtime when you guys decided that it was time for a break.
“Okay, Y/N and I are going to make some lunch. You guys can relax for now.” Jimin instructed. Your eyes lingered on Hoseok longer than they should’ve and Jimin noticed. “Y/N, is there something you want to tell me?” He whispered, standing so close that you were hip to hip. You bit the inside of your bottom lip lightly, trying to figure out what to say to your best friend.
He bumped your hip lightly, looking at you expectantly as you both started to make lunch for everyone. “Jimin,” you started, glancing towards the living room. Your apartment was suddenly more open than you realized. You slipped your arm around Jimin’s, pulling him closer so you could very quietly whisper in his ear. “The scarf he was wearing was really bright .” Jimin knitted his brows as he looked down at you, mouthing a ‘huh’. “His scarf . It was...” you weren’t sure what to call it. You’d never seen anything but different shades from white to black. “ Colourful? ” Jimin’s eyes shot open as he stared at you.
“ Colourful? You mean like you’re starting to see different colours? ” He whispered back quickly. Your heart pounded in your chest and you were sure Jimin could feel you shaking. “ Do you really think it’s Hoseok?”
You gave a very slight nod, so slight you weren’t even sure your head moved at all. “ Jiminie, what do I do? ” You questioned, looking to your best friend for advice.
“ I am not the one you should be asking that question. Go ask Jin and Namjoon? They’ll know what to do. ”
You nodded quickly, once again not even sure that you actually did it. “Y/N, Minnie, is lunch done yet? I’m starving.” Your heart thrummed in your chest, Tae’s voice startling you as it grew closer. “Is everything okay in here? Are you two whispering about something?” He asked, moving his face closer to be able to hear whatever you were whispering about.
“Y/N’s just going to run across the hall real fast for something,” Jimin replied, pulling away from you with a small smile. You returned his smile and hurried to grab a jacket.
“I’ll be back!” You said quickly, grabbing Tae’s jacket and rushing out the door. Taehyung was watching you suspiciously before turning his gaze to Jimin who just smiled awkwardly. You stood outside of Jin and Namjoon’s door for a moment, the cold already seeping into you. You rapped on the door a few times, hoping that they would be home. They should be. It was crazy outside! That thought alone made you wonder why Tae and Hoseok even came over if it was storming so badly outside. It was less than a minute, maybe about thirty seconds, that the door began to open, it had felt like hours.
“Y/N?” Namjoon asked when he saw you standing in the hall. “You look distressed, is there something wrong?” Did you really look that distressed? Was it so obvious that you were worried about something or was it just his fatherly intuition kicking in?
You weren’t sure what to say but he opened the door further to usher your now shivering body inside of their apartment where it was warm and cosy. How come their apartment was apparently warmer than yours? You took a breath, not noticing Jin peeking out from the kitchen curiously when he heard you come in.
“Namjoon I think I just met my soulmate.”
Your statement alone made the man falter as you stared up at him. “Your soulmate?” He questioned, attempting to make sure you said what he thought you said.
“Yes. My soulmate. I don’t know what to do. It’s a little overwhelming and I’m a little disoriented.”
Jin stepped in at this point, his hands pressing lightly on the middle of your back to lead you to the couch to sit you down. “If you’ve truly met your soulmate then it’s only normal that you’re disoriented. Your beginning to see the world in a new light, so to say and your brain isn’t sure how to process it. Joon get the book.” Namjoon was quick to get a book from the bookshelf, it almost looked like a children’s book. When Jin had it in hand he sat next to you and showed you the cover. “What can you see? Do you see anything that’s not black and white?”
You scanned over the cover of the book, trying to see if there was anything you could spot and you did. There was a single blaring colour that caught your attention. “That one.” You said, your finger touching the book gently as if you could touch the colour itself. Jin nodded and opened the book, flipping to a page and stopping. When he opened the book to you your eyes grew wide and you couldn’t help but touch the page, your fingers tracing over the image of the sun that was there.
“It’s yellow, Y/N. Your first colour is yellow.” Jin stated with a happy smile. You couldn’t stop looking at the page that showed different images in the same colour.
“When will I see other colours?” You asked, tearing your eyes away from the book to look at Jin.
“The longer you spend with your soulmate the more colours you’ll see.” He explained. “Meeting your soulmate may be a little scary at first but everything will be just fine. I promise.”
“I was surprised to meet Jin for the first time. He’s not exactly what I was expecting for myself, but I’m happy with how things turned out.” Namjoon said, smiling as he leaned over the back of the couch.
“Joon wasn’t the ideal person I had envisioned for myself either. I imagined someone less... destructive.” You couldn’t help but laugh at the sheepish grin the other man gave his husband. “Now, go spend some more time with your soulmate. I’m sure they’re wondering why you ran off.”
“Oh, about that. Tae and my... soulmate think I came over to get something we needed to make lunch. Jimin and I were just going to make sandwiches for us all.” You bit the inside of your bottom lip again and Jin reached up to pull your lip from your teeth.
“Don’t do that, it’s a bad habit.” He scolded. “Take that book with you. You and your soulmate can look at it together. Maybe you’ll find out what their first colour was as well.” He stood up and headed to the kitchen and Namjoon walked you to the door with a proud smile on his face.
“Do you like him?” The man asked, making sure Tae’s jacket was snug around you before you went out. You nodded slightly, a bit embarrassed at the thought.
“He’s nice so far. Apparently Tae knows him so he can’t be bad, right?”
It was about that time that Jin returned with a tupperware container. “I put some fresh lettuce and tomatoes in here for you. That way you don’t look suspicious. Enjoy.”
You nodded and smiled as you left the warmth of their apartment, returning to your own, book and tupperware in hand. You didn’t even hesitate to go inside, making a b-line straight to the kitchen. “I’ve got sandwich stuff!” You exclaimed, holding up the container.
“Welcome back, that took a bit longer than we were expecting,” Tae said as he moved out of your way so you can set the container on the counter. “What’s that book?” He questioned curiously, trying to see what it was.
“It’s not for you, that’s what it is.” You teased, sticking your tongue out at him playfully. “Actually...” You paused, glancing to the living room and spotting Hoseok sitting on the floor against the couch looking at his phone. “You and Jimin can take care of making lunch, okay? I’m going to go sit down with Hoseok.” The man looked up as he heard his name and you gave him a smile. “Don’t hurt yourselves.” You warned, walking the short distance to where the couch was pushed out of the way. “Hoseok.” You spoke his name confidentially.
“Y/N,” he replied, looking up from where he sat. He was staring again but there was a bright smile growing on his face. You pulled off Tae’s jacket and tossed it on the couch before sitting down on the floor next to him. He was warm. Warmer than Jimin and nearly as warm as Taehyung but this warmth was different. It was more comforting. You couldn’t help but lean into the warmth, your shoulder pressing against his.
You held the book out to him, showing him the cover. “Which one can you see?” Hoseok’s eyes lit up and stared at you before looking at the book to look it over. His fingers brushed over the greyscale rainbow that was there. The one just below yellow. Carefully you opened the book, flipping through the pages. You realized that they must be in the order of the rainbow. You knew colour names but not what they looked like. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. The book had a page for other colours as well. You made your way past red and orange, stopping momentarily at yellow. “This one is mine.” You mentioned before flipping to the next page. Hoseok’s hand stopped you from flipping.
“This one. It’s this colour.” He stated, his hand staying on yours as he looked at the book. “It’s the same colour as your shirt.”
“Green then.” You replied, “I didn’t know my shirt was green.” You laughed, tugging at your own clothes curiously. “I wonder how many weird colours I wear together.”
This got Hoseok laughing. “Yours is yellow? Was that my scarf?” He questioned. You nodded and smiled. “It’s the same shade as the page.” He added, for a moment both of you were silent, you were unsure what to say or what to do next. The hand he had on yours moved and cupped your cheek lightly. “You really are my soulmate, aren’t you?” You smiled so much your face hurt.
“Okay lovebirds, lunch is ready,” Jimin called, setting the food on the kitchen table. “Get over here and eat.” You and Hoseok got up from your spots on the floor and headed over, sitting next to one another at the table. You felt so light. So refreshed and oddly enough, so warm. Hoseok was like the sun. Warm and bright. Not just his clothing but his personality, his smile, his entire being. You were already in love.

Chapter Text
The four of you sat in various positions, sprawled across the living room floor, panting as you caught your breath. “I think we’re going to ace this performance.” Jimin proclaimed, downing half a bottle of water in one go before passing it to Taehyung who swiftly drank the rest of it.
“No doubt about that!” You stated, raising your hands up in the air. You were laying on your back. Hoseok sat not too far from you, his elbow resting on his bent knee. “We’re going to ace this performance and we’re going to win that New Years spot! Cold and snow be damned!” your arms fell back to the floor, sprawled out from your body as you smiled.
Taehyung nodded and smiled. “Having Hoseok join us was the best thing to happen to our group. Though I think Y/N has more reason to be happy about it.” The four of you laughed and you turned your head to look at your soulmate. He was looking back at you, his smile so wide and bright. Just his smile made you feel so warm like you were laying in the sunlight on a clear day.
“It was chance that I happened to be in the practice room when Taehyung came in the other day. I was more than happy to help out.” Hoseok said, reaching over to brush your messy hair from your face.
“You two are so adorable.” Jimin spoke, his camera making the telltale ‘snap’ sound as he took a picture. “I’m sending this to Jin. He’s going to love it.”
You sat up quickly, frowning at your best friend. “I swear, Jimin. If you send any more embarrassing pictures to Jin I will strangle you in your sleep.” The blonde laughed and slid to hide behind Taehyung. You were starting to get up to playfully attempt to strangle him when you felt arms slip around you, pulling you against a warm body.
“I don’t think so, no soulmate of mine is going to be tried for murder,” Hoseok said as he sat you between his legs. He placed his chin on your shoulder, his smile never wavering.
You fake pouted, “Not even a little murder?” You asked as if you were asking permission.
He shook his head. “Nope. Besides, I want these pictures too.” A blush formed on your cheeks at his words and you heard another ‘snap’ from behind Tae. “No murder, love. Just accept that we’re adorable.” You all laughed again but it was cut short when Jimin’s phone made a horrible alert sound, and then Tae’s did. Then yours and Hoseok’s.
“Weather alert,” Jimin stated with a frown on his face. “We’d better stock the fireplace. The news is saying that the storms getting worse. Apparently we’re having to shelter in place.” Taehyung wasted no time getting up and heading over to the fireplace. While you and Jimin didn’t typically use it, mainly because neither of you wanted to deal with it, but also because the heater was more than fine, you did use it when it got too cold.
“I’ll get this started. Y/N, check to see if you guys have any flashlights and batteries” Taehyung, as sweet as he was, also had his serious side and he fell into it so easily. You all jumped when there was a knock at the door, and before anyone could get up to answer or say ‘come in’ Namjoon opened the door with an armful of candles.
“Jin said to bring these over to you guys. He was worried that you didn’t have any. I tried to tell him that Jimin most likely has plenty but he wasn’t going to listen. He’s working on making some more hotpot as we speak.” Namjoon explained. Jimin quickly got up to help your neighbour with the candles, setting them on on the counter. “Y/N make sure you wear warm clothes. All of you need to wear warm clothes. Taehyung, if you need any let me know, and...” his attention turned to you and Hoseok, still snuggled together since you didn’t really have time to move apart just yet. “This might be a bad time but I’m Namjoon, Y/N’s pseudo-father.” Hoseok pulled away from you and got up, holding out a hand to Namjoon, who gladly took it into his, shaking it slightly.
“I’m Hoseok. I promise that Y/N is in good hands.” He replied with a smile. You got up and hurried to the storage closet in the meantime. You may have wanted to watch Joon do his fatherly spew but you had work to do. You pulled out a box of emergency supplies, carrying it to the kitchen table.
You focused on your task, pulling out extra candles from the last time you’d lost power and Jin brought them over. You had a few flashlights, a small pile of batteries, and even a lantern light. They all seemed to work just fine.
“I’ll tell Jin that you’re good to go. He’s going to come over to drop off the food in a bit. He’ll check on you then. Stay warm, okay?” You all nodded at Namjoon as he left, closing the door behind him.
You could hear Jimin and Tae laughing and looked up at them curiously. “I can’t believe Joonie gave Hoseok the ‘dad’ talk like that,” Jimin stated, leaning against the kitchen table. “I get it, I guess, but Y/N’s an adult and Hoseok’s their soulmate!”
A smile grew on your face and you looked over at Hoseok, who went over to help Taehyung get the fireplace lit. “He’s just protective, you know that, Jimin.” You replied, swatting at him. “Soulmates or not... I’ve heard of some messed up stories about soulmates abusing one another.” You frowned a bit. “Not that Hoseok would ever be like that. The point is that he’s just trying to make sure I’ll be okay and I’m happy about that. He’s seen me go through boyfriends before.” Jimin’s eyebrows raised and he nodded in agreement. It didn’t seem like Hoseok was paying too much attention for the moment, which was good, you thought, because of the awkward conversation.
Jin came over not too much longer later, carrying a large stew pot of hotpot that he sat on your stove. “This should be enough for the four of you. It’s got plenty of things in it so it shouldn’t take much to get full, even for Taehyung.” He explained. “If you need anything don’t hesitate to let me know.” You and Jimin nodded obediently. “Keep each other warm.” He said as he headed back to his apartment.
“We all know how he and Joon are going to keep warm,” Taehyung stated and you looked at him like a deer in the headlights. “What?! It’s true!”
* * *
You all decided that since Taehyung and Hoseok weren’t going anywhere thanks to the storm outside that you’d have an impromptu movie night. You fixed the couch back in its place but you left the coffee table where it was so you would have room to lay out makeshift beds. There were blankets upon blankets scattered around the couch, pillows piled up in messy bunches ready to be used at any time. You and Jimin thought about pulling your mattresses out to the living room but you decided against that after a minute because you didn’t want to have to put them back later. All of you were covered in blankets, curled up both on the floor and on the couch watching the movie when the lights started flickering.
“Ah, here we go.” Jimin groaned, pulling his blanket around himself. “Flashlights at the ready.”
You chuckled a bit, but in all honesty, you hoped that the power didn’t go out. Even with all the preparation, you knew that things could get a bit messy. If the power went out there was no telling how long it would be before it was back on. You knew that you didn’t have firewood for a few days. You had enough for maybe a day at the most if you were keeping the fire going and with your sensitivity to the cold, you couldn’t afford to let the fire go out. The worse thing you would have to do is go to Jin and Namjoon’s.
Hoseok tightened his arms around you beneath the blanket, “I’m not going to let you get cold.” He murmured, snuggling up to you as much as he could.
“I can’t wait until I’m as gross as you two with my soulmate,” Taehyung stated, looking up at you from his seat on the floor. You stuck your tongue out at him in retaliation. The lights flickered again before everything turned off. It was off for a few seconds before coming back on.
“Wouldn’t it be lucky if that was it?” You stated, hopeful for a moment before the were a loud bang from down the street and everything went dark. You sighed. “I had to open my mouth.”
“There goes the transformer...” Jimin spoke, his voice annoyed. “What do you think? A day? Two days?” Your eyes fell to the small stack of firewood.
“Unless we get some firewood or move in with our dad’s across the hall tomorrow we’re going to freeze.” You replied, burying yourself in your blanket. You felt a small pressure against the back of your head from Hoseok before he nuzzled his nose into your hair. Your heart thumped a couple of times before calming down again.
“Let’s build a fort,” Tae said suddenly. “We can have an open section that lets the heat from the fireplace into the rest of the fort. It’ll be warm. Plus, building forts is fun.”
Jimin made a sound of disagreement before you spoke up, “Taetae’s right. Besides, it’s not like we’re doing anything else. Come on, Jimini.”
Jimin frowned and sighed, letting out a small “fine” in reply. You reluctantly pulled away from Hoseok and instantly noticed the lack of heat in your apartment.
“I’m already cold.” You complained but shook it off as you started to move things around with Taehyung. Jimin started helping after a moment, as well as Hoseok.
It took you all a few hours to finish your fort, it was fun, honestly. You directed Tae to put temporary hooks on the ceiling to hang some of the blankets from, the couch was used as a sort of ‘wall’ to separate the fort into two ‘rooms’, Jimin’s idea to give you and Hoseok privacy. The couch cushions were used as retaining walls to block out the cold from the window and door. The kitchen and coffee tables were brought into the mix as well as the kitchen chairs. Overall, it was an amazing fort. You had the largest opening a good four or so feet from the fireplace, for safety, of course, and the ‘entrance’ to your fort was near the hallway to the bathroom. There was a ‘secret’ entrance near the kitchen to get food and drink when needed, despite not really needing it as you could just walk around the fort by the fireplace. It was magnificent, though. Tae and Jimin settled down behind the couch, opting to take the space a little further from the fireplace since they didn’t get cold as easy as you while you and Hoseok were closer to the fireplace.
You were all settling down to sleep when Jimin pulled out a small battery-powered radio, struggled to get signal with the antenna for a few minutes, and set it to a local station that played music as well as gave updates on the weather and power situation. You got a text from Jin not too long after that, asking if you all were alright. You gave a thorough response, letting him and Joon know that you were all fine and should be okay until the next day. Between the warmth of the fireplace, the sound of the radio, and Hoseok’s body heat, you were cosy. You don’t think you’ve ever been this comfortable, even being on the floor.
You knew Tae was asleep, he could fall asleep so easily, and after a while, you heard Jimin get comfortable and fall asleep as well. You should be joining them, as tired and comfy as you were there was something on your mind, rather, someone. “Hoseok?” You murmured quietly, loud enough for the man to hear you, but hopefully quiet enough to not wake your friends.
“Hm?” He hummed, his thumb gently caressing your stomach beneath your shirt. He’d gotten himself comfortable a bit ago, his hand just under your warm clothing. It was chilly at first but you’d warmed up considerably. “You can call me Hobi if you like.” He murmured into your hair.
You smiled, “Hobi.” You repeated the name and turned your head to look over at him. He lifted himself up on his elbow to get a better view of you. “I’m really happy you agreed to help us.”
“Me too, I don’t know what I would be doing right now if I hadn’t.” He replied. You could tell he was leaning closer and you could feel your heart quicken. You turned your head to look at the fire, embarrassed by your own childish romantic thoughts. Hoseok moved his hand from your stomach, reaching up to caress your cheek and turn your face back to his. “Is now the time to be shy, Y/N?” He chuckled, his smile as bright as ever even though you knew he was tired.
“I know, I know. It’s just... different?” You replied with a smile. “I’m not usually so awkward about these things.” You admitted. It wasn’t a lie. You’d never been shy or hesitant about a relationship before.
Hobi nodded and leaned in, capturing your lips with his own gently. He hadn’t given you time to shy away a second time. He’d been swift in his actions but soft at the same time. He smiled down at you when he pulled away, just enough to speak, though his lips still brushed against yours when they moved. “It’s different for me too, but I know that this is forever.” You smiled against his lips and it was your turn to close the gap, kissing Hoseok lovingly.
* * *
None of you saw the sunrise if there had even been one the next morning. You’d purposely put a thick blanket up near the window to keep the cold out the night before. You woke up to Taehyung restocking the fireplace and you smiled over at him.
“Morning Y/N.” He whispered, beckoning you over slightly. As much as you didn’t want to move the fireplace was welcoming and you had to pee. “Jin came over this morning to check on us. He said the storm’s passed and they’re working on clearing the streets to get to work on the power. They’re bringing out the big ploughs.” You slipped from Hoseok’s arms, though from the looks of it he could probably sleep through a lot of things. You headed to us the bathroom before coming back to join Tae close to the fireplace.
“Think we have enough firewood?” You asked though you noticed more wood stacked than was there last night. “Oh, did Jin bring some over?” Tae nodded and smiled.
“He scolded me about it. Asked why we didn’t ask for more. Complimented our fort though. He even took pictures.” He said, your eyes widened.
“Jin took pictures?” Tae nodded, a smirk on his face. “Of the whole thing?” He nodded again. “Inside and out?” Taehyung was holding back a laugh. “Oh my god, he saw me and Hobi didn’t he?”
“You two looked so cute! All curled up together. Of course, he got pictures!” You swatted your friend playfully.
“I’ve been betrayed by the people I love.” You lamented dramatically, “What am I going to do? My reputation is ruined .”
“He sent the pictures to Hoseok,” Tae noted, smirking again. Your head twisted to look at your soulmate who you’d previously left sleeping not a few feet from you. He was looking down at his phone, smiling at what you assumed was the pictures that Jin had sent him.
“I like them.” He stated, holding out his phone to you. “They’re really cute, Y/N.” The picture he showed you was surrounded by apps, as though they were organized to frame the picture. It was his wallpaper.
“Oh my god, I’m going to die of embarrassment.” You stated, falling backwards and laying on your back. You covered your face with your hands and groaned. You heard Hoseok move and then felt hands cover yours, pulling them from your face so he could lean down and place a sweet kiss on your lips. “You’re not helping Hobi.” You complained, your cheeks red after the kiss.
“Honestly I’m going to die from a sugar overdose. You two are too sweet.” Jimin’s voice sounded from around the couch, he looked rough. His hair was messed up and in different directions and you couldn’t help but laugh at him. You were used to his morning mess but it was even funnier in the current circumstance.
Somehow you all managed to make it out of the fort to get breakfast, which was just reheated hotpot that Jin had brought over. You were happy that you had a gas stove that still worked without power. Jimin appeared shortly after he left the fort looking like his fabulous self once again. Once you were all fed you sat in the fort, the small radio up as far as it could go, singing along to whatever songs that came on that you knew. It was hours before the power even attempted to come on, the lights teasing you for a moment as they came on only to go back off.
“Do you want to go on a date with me sometime?” Hoseok asked you all of a sudden when you were done taking down the fort. It didn’t take nearly as much time to take it down as it did to build it and you were suddenly glad that Jin had taken pictures of it.
“Good luck getting Y/N out in the cold,” Jimin stated, relaxing on the newly put back together couch.
“Actually I was thinking we could do something that doesn’t require us to be outside very long.” He added, smiling. “Dinner maybe? A movie? Or something not so cliche and common?”
You smiled and nodded. “Whatever is fine, as long as it’s indoors and not out in the cold.” You watched Hobi for a moment, contemplating your answer. “That’s a yes, Hobi.”
“I know, I was just trying to come up with something to do.” You shook your head and hugged your soulmate, slipping your hands beneath his shirt as you slipped your arms around him. He shivered and looked down at you. “How are you still cold?”
“Snake.” Tae and Jimin stated at the same time.
* * *
You didn’t want to say goodbye to Hoseok. It was too soon, you felt, and truthfully he didn’t want to say goodbye to you either. He said that he had to go check in on his own roommates, make sure that they had made it out okay. With power restored your apartment quickly returned to normal and you realized that the old normal wasn’t normal at all. What were you and Hoseok going to do? Were you going to move in with him? You didn’t want to leave Jimin by himself. He wouldn’t survive.
“Hey Hobi?” You tugged on his jacket as he was getting ready to head out. Taehyung had already left a bit ago and Jimin ran off to his room to take a nap in his bed. It was just you and Hoseok alone in the living room.
He looked down at you, slipped his arms around you and pulled you into a hug. “I don’t want to go, Y/N.” He admitted against your hair. “I don’t want to leave you alone. It feels wrong.” He peppered your hair with small kisses before pulling away when you said his name again.
You looked up at him, your eyes beautiful to your soulmate. “Do you want to move in? I know you have your roommates but...” Your hesitation allowed Hobi to press a kiss against your lips and he smiled.
“I’d love to.” He replied, “but I still have to go to pack, don’t I? And tell my roommates that I’m going to move out. They’re going to be happy for me.” You stared up at him, surprised at how easily he agreed to the question. “Yes?”
You pulled him down by his jacket, kissing him deeply. You stood there near the door, kissing your soulmate before pulling away after a moment. “Hurry back, okay? I miss you already.”
Hoseok kissed you once more before heading out. You found yourself mindlessly cleaning up the apartment while Hoseok was gone. The dishes were done, blankets freshly washed, the carpet vacuumed, you even took a long, well-deserved shower. Jimin was watching TV when you finished your shower, surprisingly you’d put on actual clothes instead of pyjamas.
“No Hoseok?” He questioned, he looked surprisingly well put together for someone who’d just finished a few hour nap.
“He went to go check on his roommates.” You replied, plopping on the couch next to him. More surprising than your actual clothes, you were somehow warmer than usual. “He also went to pack to move in.”
Jimin went from a relaxed position to sitting up straight, staring at you. “You didn’t even ask me!” He stated, mouth agape.
“It was that or I move in with him .” You shrugged a bit. “I didn’t want to move away from you.” You gave him a faint smile, “Unless you wanted to be rid of me.”
“Of course not! You’re my best friend. Why would I want you to move out? I’m just not looking forward to walking in on you guys doing something gross.”
“Are you meaning gross as in overly sweet and adorable things or are you calling the act of sex gross?”
“I... you... I didn’t think about sex! Oh god . I hope I never walk in on you two actually going at it.”
You couldn’t help but fall into a laughing fit. Jimin didn’t ignore your cleaning spree, he was surprised by it and commented how proud he was of you actually cleaning. He even made a note to comment on how you’d cleaned your room, and even moved some of your plushes off your bed to make room for Hobi. “How hurt your stuffies will be. You’ve abandoned them.” He teased, making an overdramatic show at the expense of your stuffed animals. It was near the end of the day that Hoseok called you and said he wouldn’t be able to make it back that night. While disappointed you understood and did your best to distract yourself. You practised your part of the dance routine over and over in your room. You went until your body screamed for you to stop and you fell to your bed and passed out. The next morning you woke up with a bunch of noise from the living room. There were several voices that you didn’t recognize and you went out to investigate. There were boxes stacked around the living room and a smile instantly grew on your face.
“Aye, Hoseok, your sleeping beauty woke up.” One of the strangers stated when he spotted you.
Hoseok popped out from the kitchen and grinned. “Morning, did we wake you up?” You gave a slight nod but shrugged it off as you made your way over. “Sorry about that, we’re almost done. Just a few more boxes that Namjoon’s bringing up.”
“Joon?” You questioned curiously.
“He saw us struggling with some stuff earlier and forcibly volunteered to help.” You made a face giving away that you understood, he’d done the same to you and Jimin when you first moved in. “I missed you.” He added, kissing you all of a sudden.
“Missed you too, Hobi.” You replied when you were freed.
Having Hoseok living with you was different. He got home earlier than you did and he often helped Jimin make dinner. It was nice to not rely on Jin to cook for you all the time. You were always excited to come home, no matter how crappy your day had been. You were always greeted with that warm smile that you loved so much. It took you a few days after him moving in for you to say the phrase “I love you” because neither of you thought about it. When you said it, it was as he was heading out to one of his classes and it was your day off.
He smiled at you, replied with an “I love you too,” and headed off as it was completely normal. The three of you fell into this strange new normal that felt so right. You couldn’t be happier.

Chapter Text
“Y/N!” Taehyung’s voice startled you as you were just reaching up to push a precariously placed plush further on the shelf it was sitting on. Thanks to Tae’s sudden appearance, though, the over-sized stuffed animal tipped and fell right on your face.
“Taetae,” you groaned from the stuffed animal as you sighed and sat it on the floor. “What have I told you about bothering me at work?” You scolded. It wasn’t often that Tae or Jimin showed up to bother you. Occasionally Tae would come in to buy things but it wasn’t often.
“Sorry, sorry,” he replied, lifting the large plush and sliding it up on the shelf. “I was just excited.”
“When are you not?” You teased, sticking your tongue out at him. He stuck his tongue out at you in return before shaking his head.
“We got the results in from our performance. We were sad you couldn’t be there but I just couldn’t wait to tell you the news.” It had been an entire week since you’d gotten to dance your heart out with your three friends. Hoseok had made the perfect addition to the team and without his help, you guys might not have finished on time or at least been as good as you were. It had been nearly two weeks now since you’d met Hoseok. You could see every colour in the rainbow now and even more than that. The shop you worked at was all the more amazing now that you could see the colours of the products that were sold there. You had spent so much time with Hoseok since you met, you couldn’t help but smile at the thought of your soulmate. “Y/N stop thinking about Hoseok. I know that look.” Taehyung frowned, shaking you by the shoulders lightly.
You laughed and swatted his hands away, “okay, okay!” You said, fixing your shirt a bit. “What’s the outcome? Did we do well?” You hoped you did well. You felt like your team did amazingly.
“We passed!” Tae replied excitedly. You gave him a frown and rolled your wrist to tell him to continue. “We get to perform at the festival. Front and centre. The four of us.” The news made your eyes widen and your smile grew in size.
“The festival? The front? Centre?” You couldn’t believe your ears. The performance that you and the others had done wasn’t just an important grade for your dance class it was a final. The group that did the best and got the top spot was able to perform at the school’s end of the year festival. Your heart thrummed in your chest. “I think I need a minute.” You said, fanning yourself with your hand as you hurried to the register. You were thankful that it was a slow day and no one was waiting for you.
Tae followed after you and leaned against the counter. “Jimin said we’re all going out to dinner tonight when you get off work. He said you don’t have a choice even if it’s snowing outside.”
The thought of the snow made you frown a bit. “I guess if Jimin says I absolutely have to go, I’ll go.” You smiled, “not that I mind. I love going out with you guys.”
“Y/N you’d better not be flirting with customers.” A voice from the room just behind the counter spoke. You chuckled.
“I’m not, Kook. You’re just in time. I could use a break.” You turned your attention to the man that had just walked through the staff door behind you, smiling at him.
“Is this one of your friends?” He asked, eyes on Taehyung, who in turn was staring at him rather intently. You gave a nod and smiled at the way the two men were looking at one another.
“This is Taehyung. Tae, this is Jungkook.” You introduced, moving back slightly. “You two look like you’re about to see sparks.” You noted, raising an eyebrow at them.
Tae peeled his eyes off of Jungkook to look at you, wide-eyed. “Y/N, is this what it felt like for you?” He asked, his mouth agape. Jungkook was also confused, looking over at you curiously.
“Ah, that’s right. Kookie’s a little out of the loop.” You stated with a smile. Since the blizzard had shut down the store Jungkook took the chance to take his two-week vacation, meaning you were the one working at the store alone instead of sharing shifts. It meant longer days but it was more money in the bank for you as well. “I found my soulmate during the blizzard the other week.”
Jungkook’s mouth fell open, “and you didn’t think that was important to tell me?” He questioned, his eyes glancing to Taehyung. You chuckled a bit.
“Let me go find one of those rainbow plushes. I know we have one around the store somewhere.” You said as you walked away. It didn’t take you long to find one. You knew the store like the back of your hand. When you brought it back you sat it on the counter and looked at the two men expectantly. “Well? Point to the one you can see.” Taehyung didn’t hesitate, after seeing you and Hoseok go through the same thing he knew exactly what to do and he pointed directly at one of the colours on the plush. “Purple.” You stated, turning your attention to Jungkook. “Just point, it’s okay.”
“I think it’s red,” Jungkook said, finally pointing to the colour that sat at the very top of the rainbow. You nodded a bit.
“Okay then, Jungkook you can just take today off, I’ll let the boss know what happened.” You told him as you returned the plush to its place and moved your co-worker out of your way. “You’re clearly not going to get any work done and Tae’s not going to go anywhere if you’re here too so both of you should just go and spend some time together.”
* * *
You stretched your arms above your head as you tilted your body, letting out a loud groan as you felt your muscles ease up. It was just now seven in the evening and you had just finished locking up the store. It had been hours since Taehyung and Jungkook had left together and you couldn’t help but smile at the idea. Soon enough Jimin was going to find his soulmate and you all would be complete. Speaking of Jimin you had texted him about what happened at the store with Tae and Kookie and you both decided to reschedule to give the two of them time to be together. You weren’t sure what you were going to do with yourself the rest of the evening now that you didn’t have any plans, not that you had planned anything, to begin with. It hadn’t been until Taehyung had come into the store that you were aware of any plans. You opted to just head back to your apartment to cuddle up to your soulmate. Not only that you had to invite your family up for the festival at the end of the year.
Your apartment was as warm as ever when you got home. To your surprise Taehyung and Jungkook were there, sitting on your couch cuddled up together. God, they were adorable.
“I wasn’t expecting you two to be here when I got home.” You said, handing up your damp coat and heading over to the heater to warm up.
“Hoseok had the idea that we could all have dinner here, together. He and Jimin went to the store a little while ago.” The idea that Hoseok wasn’t home pained you but it wasn’t all bad.
You smiled, though, and pulled out your phone to snap a picture of your friend and his new soulmate. “They left you two alone to be all gross on our couch?” You teased, snapping another picture as Tae snuggled into Jungkook’s hair. “Disgusting.” You laughed when Tae stuck his tongue out at you.
“Y/N did you put up all these colourful decorations for you and Hoseok?” Tae asked, pointing out the strings of colourful garland that now decorated your apartment.
You looked around and your smile grew once again. “I did,” you replied, happy that he was seeing more colours. “After Hobi moved in we shopped online and bought a bunch of little things. Whatever we thought was colourful, or if it had the colours we already saw. We’ve got so much we ran out of room to hang it really, you want some?” Both men nodded and you chuckled, “I’ll get the box then.”
You were sitting at the kitchen table on your laptop getting some schoolwork done when Jimin came through the door with a few bags of groceries in his hands followed by Hobi who had even more.
“Did you guys buy a feast?” You questioned, getting up to help them with their bags. Hobi gave a sheepish smile and Jimin rolled his eyes.
“Apparently we did. Now I have to try and figure out how to cook it all.” Jimin complained.
“You’re not cooking by yourself. I’m going to help.” Hoseok seemingly reminded him. Your soulmate and Jimin had become close friends since he’d moved in and you were more than happy. You knew that one day though, Jimin would find his soulmate and you weren’t sure if he’d move out or if his soulmate would move in as Hobi did. If that was the case you hoped that you’d all get along. You wondered what kind of person they would be if they could handle Jimin’s energy. You helped out in the kitchen, chopping vegetables and helping cook for dinner. You and Hobi stood next to one another, bumping into each other once in a while. It was so domestic.
You weren’t surprised when you realized you didn’t have enough chairs for everyone to sit at the table, you were missing one. At first, Taehyung joked that someone could sit in someone’s lap but both you and Jimin shot down the idea in favour of keeping your chairs intact. They were by no means expensive chairs but there was no way that they could hold more than one person without the threat of breaking, hell if you sat in one wrong by yourself it felt like the legs would just break right out from under you. You opted to go across the hall and explain the situation to Jin, who happily lent you a chair for your extra guest. Dinner was nice and afterwards, the two new lovebirds headed off.
“Y/N,” Hobi spoke your name as he came into the kitchen. You were ringing the dishes so you could put them in the dishwasher, “can I ask you something important?”
You raised an eyebrow, rising your hands off and wiping them dry on your clothes before turning to your soulmate. “What’s up?”
He made his way over to you, trapping you against the counter as he placed his hands on either side of you. He placed a gentle peck on your lips and smiled his signature smile, “Do you want to live in a house?”
“A house?” You questioned, cocking your head a bit. “Do you not like the apartment?” You were suddenly worried that Hoseok didn’t like living there. That he was somehow unhappy with his living arrangement.
He chuckled a bit and raised a hand to caress your cheek as he saw your sudden distress, “There’s nothing wrong with the apartment. I’m just worried that there’s not going to be enough room when Jimin finds his soulmate. You two will still want to live together, I know it. This place isn’t big enough for four people. It’ll be even more cramped when Tae and Kook come over to visit. Nevermind having a big a larger dinner where we invite Jin and Joon.” He explained, and you realised that Hoseok was paying more attention to things than you were. Sure you noticed that sometimes it seemed a little cramped, even now with just the two of you in the kitchen together, but you never really thought about it.
You thought for you don’t know how long but Hoseok was patient. “How are we going to afford it? My job doesn’t pay enough for a house. Jimin doesn’t have a job either, and it’s not like he’s going to get one either. Unless you have some secret Swiss bank account or something I don’t know how we’re going to afford to move.” Hobi raised an eyebrow and tried to hide his smirk but it wasn’t working.
“I don’t have a ‘secret Swiss bank account’ but I do have something .” He grinned. “My family is actually quite well off, I’m sure they wouldn’t mind helping me get a house with my soulmate and their best friend in the whole world.”
“Hoseok! That’s going to be really expensive! I don’t want you to ask your family for that much !” You knew how expensive it was to live in the city. It had been hard enough to find an affordable apartment for you and Jimin when you first moved off-campus. Truth be told that’s where most of your paycheck went.
He shook his head and captured your lips with his own, pulling away after you’d calmed down. “Don’t you worry about that. Let me worry about that.” You’d calmed down a bit and you couldn’t deny you were excited at the thought of living in an actual house again. With a yard. With more room for things, maybe even a room dedicated to a dance studio or something.
“Okay,” you conceded. “I’ll let you worry about all that. I just want to be able to help pick one out.”
Hoseok smiled again and nodded, “Jimin has to like it too.”
***
Your life was busy. You had school, dance practice, more finals, work, and most of all, moving. The three of you had chosen a house, a nice, sizeable house just a little ways outside of the city. It was further than the school than you were all used to but Hoseok had an ace up his sleeve, he actually had a vehicle. The house was amazing. It was two stories, had a basement, a yard, and four bedrooms. You and Hoseok got the suite since it was his family who’d bought it and Jimin actually chose the smaller room, though it had a larger closet space. Honestly, his room was half closet. You’d all decided that the basement was the designated dance studio and had it renovated to be such. You made sure that the dining room had enough chairs for at least eight people, it was a very important detail that you kept repeating when looking for a dining room set, and Hoseok agreed. The house was decorated with colours in mind, the garland you had in the apartment was now hanging in your new room and all your plushes had a shelf for themselves, though some of them managed to get their spots on the bed back. One of the extra rooms was made into a guest room and the other was left empty for the time being. None of you were sure what to do with it so you all just put the boxes from moving into it. It was basically a storage room.
Between everything you still had to work on your routine with your team not to mention with the rest of the group that you’d be performing with. You had a group dance and then your team had its solo performance and the deadline was coming up quickly. Too quickly. There was more stress as time ran out to perfect your moves and get everything right. Jungkook was good with editing music and helping you guys with the sound but it just didn’t feel right, you all agreed, even Kook. You were starting to go crazy with stress until you decided to take things into your own hands and head to the music department while you were waiting on Hoseok to finish his last class for the day. You looked up at the light above the door that said ‘recording’ and waited. You’re not sure how long you waited, but when it turned off, you knocked. There was a quiet ‘Come in’ from behind the door and you made your way in.
“Hi there, I’m Y/N.” You introduced yourself with a smile. You were greeted with a tired wave of a hand. The man that was sitting in front of you wore an oversized sweater, making him look smaller than he already was in it. He had shaggy hair that hung over his eyes a bit and he had to flick his head to toss it out of the way.
“Yoongi.” He murmured, watching you expectantly.
“Okay, well Yoongi, I was hoping you’d be willing to help me. My dance team and I are in need of a track for our performance and we can’t find anything that fits it. Would you be able to help? Or perhaps know someone who could help and be willing to do so?” You asked, hoping that you wouldn’t have to go to someone else.
He gave a single nod, “I can help.” He replied, turning completely in his rolly chair. “I’d have to know what you are wanting, though. And I have to see the performance to be able to make it fit.” He explained and you nodded quickly.
“Of course! I can give you my address, we’re going to practice tonight. If you’re free, you’re welcome to come to observe and study.”
You gave him a time, your address, and some money for a cab when he told you he didn’t have a ride out there. It was no problem now since you weren’t spending most of your pay from work on an apartment. Hoseok refused to let you pay bills. You went to meet up with Jimin and Hoseok after that and told them the plan. They were ecstatic at the news. You decided before Taehyung and Jungkook showed up that you were going to order dinner rather than make it. You were going to be busy and have no energy by the time you were all starving to even think about making anything to eat. Everyone was in attendance and you were already practising when the doorbell rang.
“I’ll get it!” Jungkook exclaimed, hopping up from his seat. “You guys keep going.” Kook liked to film your practices and even took pictures while he watched. You were taking a quick water break when Jungkook came back downstairs with Yoongi. “Your music guru is here, Y/N.”
You smiled, “thanks Kookie.” You turned your attention to Yoongi. “Thanks for coming Yoongi,” he hummed and nodded, setting up his laptop on the floor near where Jungkook was sitting.
“I’m going to get this set up while you take your break.” He said as he sat down. He paid no attention to really anything around him for the time being but Jimin had come over to you and pulled you all the way to the back of the room, farthest away from Yoongi.
“Jimin?” You questioned, worry clear in your voice.
“What colour is his hair?” He whispered.
“His hair?” You repeated, looking over at Yoongi, who still paid no attention to anything outside his bubble.
“Yes, his hair . What is it? It’s not blonde, I’m blonde. I know that shade. What is his?”
“Greenish blue? Teal ?” You replied, raising an eyebrow.
“It’s mint,” Taehyung said from behind both of you. “Jimini, did Y/N bring your soulmate home like I brought Hoseok home?”
Jimin’s face turned bright red as he turned away from both you and Taehyung. “Oh my god, I did.” You stated, looking over at Yoongi, who was now talking to Jungkook a bit, presumably waiting for your team to get back to dancing. “Okay, well simple thing. We just make him look at Jimin. Problem solved.” You went to pull Jimin to the other side of the room but he refused to budge. “Jimin this is not the time to be stubborn.” You frowned, but you caught his face in the mirror you were standing in front of. He was so red, blushing so brightly. But his eyes were focused on something behind you. You spotted Yoongi looking at your huddled up bodies, curious. You looked at Tae and he nodded, both of you moving away from Jimin so he could get a better view of him.
Yoongi’s mouth fell open, eyes wide as he stared at Jimin through the mirror. You didn’t think Jimin could turn any redder but you were proven wrong. The air was tense in the room and the only two that hadn’t noticed what was happening was Hoseok and Jungkook who were still doing their own things. Though they quickly noticed something was up when Jimin rushed across the room and ran up the stairs. Yours and Tae’s attention turned immediately to Yoongi who just stared at the doorway, confused, unsure, and shocked.
“Yoongi,” Taehyung stated, his voice serious. “Go upstairs and go after him!” He ordered. The smaller man shoved his laptop to Jungkook who scrambled to keep hold of it as Yoongi hurried up the stairs. The room was silent. Half the room knowing full well what just happened while the other half was obviously confused. “Yoongi is Jimin’ soulmate.” Tae pointed out to them with a smile.
“That’s great!” Jungkook exclaimed, putting Yoongi’s laptop on the floor next to him.
“I guess Yoongi’s going to live with us then,” Hoseok stated flatly, though he smiled. “Let’s try to get more of this routine done. It’s going to take them a while.” You all agreed, however, you didn’t get a lot of practising done for yourselves, you spent the time teaching Jungkook the moves when he mentioned his curiosity. Turned out Jungkook was a great dancer and the four of you were having a blast having a bit of a dance battle when Yoongi and Jimin came back downstairs a little bit later.
“I ordered food,” Jimin spoke, crossing his arms as he watched Hoseok finish his dance moves.
“Everything go okay?” You asked, going over to Jimin to check on him. You were happy for him but his reaction made you worry. He nodded and smiled at you, though, and you felt a bit better.
“He wasn’t expecting someone like... me,” Yoongi admitted awkwardly. “I wasn’t expecting anyone like him so we’re even.” You looked between the two of them and while they were awkward it was obvious that they were fine with how things turned out.
You went to say something but Hoseok spoke before you could put your thoughts together, “Are you going to move in Yoongi?” Jimin sputtered and turned red all over again, looking at Hoseok.
“Move in?” Yoongi questioned, looking at Hoseok.
“Hobi has no tact sometimes.” You stated, shaking your head. “We planned when we picked out the house that when Jimin found his soulmate that there was enough room for them to move in. And well, since you’re his soulmate, will you move in with us?” Yoongi looked hesitant, but he looked over at Jimin who, while still very red, looked hopeful.
Finally, he sighed and nodded his head. “I’ll move in. I don’t have a great sleep schedule though. I don’t want to keep anyone awake.”
“You know, we have a completely empty room we’re just using for box storage. You can have that room to do whatever you want with.” Hoseok stated and Yoongi’s eyes lit up.
“Anything?” Hoseok nodded, even you nodded. “I’ll... start packing when I get home then. It would be nice not to have to use the music studio at the school all the time.”
You couldn’t be happier. Your two best friends found their soulmates, you’d found your soulmate. “Taetae, if Jimini and Hobi are okay with it, and Kookie too, would you like to move into the guest room?” You looked over at your other two housemates, and your new one, Yoongi. Hoseok smiled and gave a thumbs up and Jimin seemed overjoyed at the thought of Taehyung living with you all as well. “Then it’s settled! We’ll be one big happy household!” You stated cheerfully.
The six of you lived together quite well. Yoongi and Jungkook got along amazingly, though they teased one another, and Yoongi actually enjoyed cooking. You once remarked that he cooked just as well as Jin, if not better in some cases and Jimin feigned death but swore to never tell either man. Weeks later the dance performance went flawlessly and was a big hit at the festival. It was a new life for you all and you couldn’t be happier. Yoongi turned the extra room into his own music studio and Jungkook built a nice gaming computer in his and Tae’s room. You were all a big family. It wasn’t but a few months after that, that Jin and Namjoon told you that they were moving closer to you and had bought a house a few streets over. They’d apparently been planning the move for some time and once they’d saved enough money they found the perfect out. It was wonderful. Your life was perfect, well as perfect as it could be, and you couldn’t ask for more.
