Chapter Text

Remus was at his tattoo shop he own called octopus ink his life was going great since he was kicked out of his parents house at the age of 16 for not conforming to there whey's also for being gay, now he is 26 and he has a loving husband in Janus who is a lawyer, they had a nice  house in naples florida, and they have a ten year old emo son named Virgil. Remus was sketching new tattoo designs while his employee and best friend Remy was working on a client when the phone rang. " Girl can you get that I got my hand full."  Remus out his SketchBook down and went to pick up the phone.

"Hello this is octopus ink this is remus Silverton Duke speaking." Remus hears the voice on the other end of the phone choke back a sob. " Excuse me who ever you are I think you have the wrong number and maybe you should talk to someone?" Before remus hung up the phone a familiar voice call out in a teary  voice. " Remus." Remus froze he hadn't heard that voice in ten years. " Robro." After saying the old nickname the voice on the other end of the phone started sodding louder. " Yes re it is me I need your help?" Remus felt panic course through his veins. " What going on Roman did mother and father do something."

Remus hears Roman stifle a sod. " After you where kicked out mom forced me to marries Demand sparkle." Remus was sick to his stuck Roman is gay like he is. " And she was just as bad made even worse than our parents she is controlling, abusive, physically, mentally, and emotionally but the only good thing she gave was was my twins logan and Patton but I can't take it anymore and I don't want my twins to live is a toxic household." Roman was panicking more as he talked. " And with Joan posted that you did there tattoo I looked up your shop i had to call." Roman sounded like he was going to have a panic attack. " And I know I don't deserve to ask for your help after what i let mother and father do to you but I can't have patton and Logan grow up like we did." " Wow Roman let's take it down a few noches now breath in for 4 hold for 7 and out for 8." Remus was glad he learned that from Virgil.  after Roman calmed down remus talked. " It's ok me and Janus has plenty of room for you and your larvae's can stay with us and Janus is a lawyer and a fucking great one so you will definitely have custody of them so do you still live in north Carolina right it will take me 9 hours to drive."

So remus and Roman exchange numbers and set up a meeting place to pick Roman and the twins up. After finishing the call with Roman remus called Janus. " Remus your lucky I'm not doing anything important right now." So remus explains what just happened and rag fills his system Janus hates remus's parents but he didn't have enough evidence to prosecute them but with Roman he could. " And I think Virgil will like to have other kids to play with."

Roman was shifting from side to side he and his boys where waiting for Remus outside of a gas station just outside of his home town. Logan was reading a book and Patton was chatting away about the cute animals that ran by them. " daddy where are we doing?" Roman froze a moment but then looked his son in his eyes Patton looked so confused about what was going on." Well we are waiting for your uncle Remus to pick us up we are going to stay with him for a while." "Is mommy grandma and grandpa?" Patton said tears forming in his eyes Roman swiftly pulled Patton into a hug." No they aren't pattoncake you will never have to see them again." Memory's flash in his mind of his parents and wife mentally and emotionally abusing his previous boys to the point where Logan didn't even show emotions anymore.

" isn't uncle Remus a useless wast of a human?" Logan spoke for the first time since they expected that horrible house but Roman shook his head furiously." No he is not he just never fit into what grandma and grandpa perfect world so he do they got rides of him and pretend never existed." Roman was filled with sadness." I am ashamed that I never had is back when he where younger blinded by my parents manipulation to see he was right about our parents being abusive." Logan nodded and went back to his book. After a few minutes a dark green pulled up infante of them when the door opened a man the Same age as Roman he had on black combat boots, ripped black jeans, a sleeveless denim jacket, his right arm has a tattoo sleeve of Disney Villains, the left arm had a tattoo sleeve of sea light, he had a mustache and a white streak in his hair." Hello there brother." Remus said with Confidence Roman has never seen this confidence in his brother before.

" oh Roman are these you larvae they are so adorable." Roman nodded remembering Remus fan of sea life and that larvae are what baby octopuses are called. " this is Patton and this is Logan." Patton gave Remus a big smile at his uncle while Logan gave him a quizzical look. " I see you are a fan of Disney just like father." " that's right nerd but I was more a fan of the villains than the boring hero's." Roman looked at Remus in amazement this was not the Remus he remembered who was full of anger and chaos this Remus was confident but there was still mischief lying in his eyes he was his own person not the person there parents wanted them to be and sadly to say Roman was jealous of that. " one on fam let's get this show on the road it is a long drive back to Florida." Remus picked up there bag and bouncy to the van the others quickly followed behind him.

Remus put the bags into the truck while the boys climbed into the back and Roman into the front. After Remus put the bags away he climbed into the driver's seat." Ok let's get this show on the road! I know the perfect music." Remus connected his phone to the portable speaker Roman do Remus put on a playlist called Disney villains songs." That seems rather tame for you Remus?" Remus laughed. " yay because there are kids in the car dum dum oh speaking of which Patton and Logan your cousin Virgil is excited to meet you as well as your uncle Janus." " daddy you don't tell us you had another brother." Remus just laugh." No larvae Janus is my husband." Husband Remus even had a husband something Roman never thought he would have." What but your a boy?" " oh yay my parents don't like how I like boys intend of girls that is why they gave me the boot but a lot of people like the same gender and it is ok."

The long drive was draining for Roman all he did was stare out the car window but Remus seems to have boundless Energy he talked to the twins as he drives from with this he learned that Remus owned a tattoo parlor, his husband janus is a lawyer, he has three pets a bog named Cerberus a octopus named squishy a corn snake named deceit, and they have a son there age named Virgil. Remus pulled off the highway and pulled into a motel and turned to face the twins." well fam it is getting pretty late and it's still a long way to Florida so we are going to sleep here tonight and then go back on the road first thing in the morning." Roman was so lost in thought that he didn't even notice that the sun has set, They got out of the car Remus went to get us a room Patton looked up at me." Uncle Remus is so cool daddy I can't what to meet Virgil and his puppy." From what he heard from Remus Cerberus was not a puppy but an adult pit bull which he was worried about from what he heard from that breed of bog but he will trust Remus." I must agree with Patton I to am excited to discuss with him further with ocean and it's creatures." Roman was happy that his boys are getting along with Remus." Hey tan I got us a room."

The room was good two queen size beds a tv and a bathroom." Ok larvae's you two get you pjs on brush your teeth and get your butts to bed." The twins nodded and started to get ready and scampered off to the bathroom with them gone Remus with his ack turned to Roman he took off his Jacket and shirt, Roman gasped Remus's back was covered with scars, scars that there parents gave him. Before Remus could put on his night shift Roman placed his hand on his back Remus jumped at the Touch. Remus sighed and finished putting on his night shirt." It's not your fault Roman you don't know." Tears fill Roman's eyes." But I should have I'm the big brother I was supposed to protect you but I was just as bad as they where." Remus turned around and glared at him." Oh come on your only older by two minutes." Remus put his hand on hit twins shoulder." Robro our parents are assholes and manipulative shits I don't blame your and I'm glad you and the twins where also able to got out to."

After putting the twins into the bed roman and Remus got into the other bed but Roman couldn't sleep the memories of his parents and ex wife kept replying in his head but then he felt his brothers arm rap around him just like they did as children when they had nightmares. For the first time in a like Time Roman felt safe.

Chapter Text

" wake up it's time to go!" Remus yelled pulling the blankets from Roman and the twins." No uncle Remus it is 1 am can't we sleep a little longer." Remus shook his head." No sobino if we want to get to my place before dark then we have to go now but we can have pancakes befor heading out." With the promises of pancakes the Patton and Logan got up and pulling Roman out of bed to. After the promised pancakes the four of them where back on the road with Disney songs playing over the Radio.

" well guys welcome to Florida!" Remus yelled when they crossed the state line Patton cheered while logan was amazed on how different the landscape was from there home. " so this is where you went when you left." " well I don't leave willingly but I had Janus and they had family here." Roman don't realize that he said that out loud." Sorry. He said quickly but Remus jus Blue raspberry." It's fine ro bro you where still under there control." Roman stayed silent listening to Remus answering Patton's animal questions and logins about the different landscape.

The van finally pulled into a modest two story light yellow house, there was a big front yard and Beautiful garden." Well home sweet home come on fam let's get this show on the road." Roman got the twins out of the car while Remus got there bags." Watch this." Remus put two fingers in his mouth and let out a loud whistle. Suddenly a big muscled black Pitbull came barreling down the yard, the dog had bite scars all over its face and Front legs Roman screamed like a girl all the bad things he heard about these dogs runs through his head. But Remus kneeled down and spread his arm out like he was waiting for a hug a big smile on his face but when the dog jumped onto Remus chest and knocked him to the ground Roman feared the worst. But instead of tearing up Remus face he was being drowned in kisses." I've missed you to boy been keeping everyone safe." Patton went over to try and pet the dog but Roman holds him back Remus pushed the dog off and faced them." Roman, login, Patton this is are pet/ Guard dog Cerberus I know he looks scary but that's just a Façade he is just a love bug but if anyone try's to hurt our family Cerberus won't let them get away with it." Login tilted his head." Cerberus like the Greece god of the underworld's three headed guard dog?" Remus nodded." We decided to keep the theme Janus was named after an old Roman god, I was named offer Roman hero Romulus twin brother, and our son is named Virgil like the Roman poet."

Before Roman could speak the fount door opened."Padre!" A boy with dark purple hair wearing a black hoodie with purple patches, ripped black jeans and Purple hightops. Remus pulled the boy into a hug." Oh mija I've missed you to." He Jester to the people next to him." That is you tio Roman and your cousins login and Patton." Virgil hide behind Remus." Hi." Virgil spoke out quietly." Well well look who is finally here." The man that came wearing a bowler hat with a yellow ribbon on the brim , a burn scar on the left side of his face, black suit, yellow gloves, yellow undershirt, black bow tie, and black dress shoes." Janus I see you just got back from the law office." Janus nodded." Yes my dear, Virgil why don't you show Logan and Patton deceit and squishy." Virgil nodded waved his hand for the twins to fallow him and the three of them and Cerberus went back into the house. When the kids disappear Janus turned to Roman." Roman prince we have much to discuss."

Chapter Text

Virgil led login and Patton to the living room with Cerberus the room was big there was a huge tv on the wall across from it was a brown couch the walls are  light green, hardwood floors. Virgil takes Logan and Patton to the fish tank that seemed empty but when Virgil went up to the tank a large octopus crawled out from a cave." This is squishy padre had got him when he was the size of my hand he is really friendly." Virgil got a Step-stool and opened the lead and immediately squishy wrapped it's tentacles around his hands." He is really friendly but you got to make shore you close the lead well because he likes to escape and go on adventures do you want to touch him." Patton shook his head but Logan took up this offer eagerly he wanted to learn as much as possible and getting a up close look at a sea creature he could pass that up. Logan stood next to Virgil." Ok just stick you hand in the water." Logan did what he was told and immediately squishy wrapped it's tentacles around his hand it felt interesting, it was slimy, squishy, and the suction cups stuck to his hands." Why is he alone don't he get lonely?" Patton asked quickly but Virgil shook his head." Squishy would see them as food and eat them." After a while Virgil got squishy back in his tank and closed and locked the lid.

" now let's see deceit." Virgil went to a door next to squishy's tank and opened it inside the room was converted into a home for the adult size albino boa constrictor curled up on a rock. When the boys got in deceit lifted her head and slither towards them Patton holds Cerberus a little scared at the big snake but Virgil went up and gave the snake a hug." Dad got deceit at his job as a lawyer, during a case the other people put deceit in dads office when he was just as big as my arm to try and scare him off the case because they thought since dad was gay he would be scared of snakes but that backfired dad loves snakes." Deceit looks at the two other boys Logan looks at the snake curiously but Patton was hesitant." Dad won the case and we got a new pet." Virgil looks at Patton and general grabs his hand." It's ok Patton deceit wouldn't hurt a fly." Virgil gently put Pattons hand onto deceit's body Patton flinched for a moment but then his eyes lights up." He is not slimy at all!" Logan nodded." A common misconception."

After meeting all the pets The three boys were on the couch watching Steve universe Cerberus laying his head on patton's lap. As Patton pets Cerberus he takes notice the white line all over Cerberus face and Front legs." Hey Virgil what's all this white Lines on Cerberus?" Virgil looks at Patton before answering." They are scars there are people out there that like to watch two dogs fight to the death to train those dogs they taped a dog mouth shut so they can't defend themselves and have another attack them they are called bait dogs that what what  Cerberus was lucky good people found out what was going on the people where put in jail and we got Cerberus." Tears fill Patton eye at the thought." How can a human what to watch that." Virgil shrugged his shoulders." I don't know but Cerberus is here now and will never feel that pain again."

Chapter Text

Roman followed his brother and his brother’s husband into what he assumes is Janus’s office. To say Roman was shocked that his twin was married to a man they were told from a young age that same sex marriage was unnatural and disgusting and whenever Remus talked about Janus he never said his gender. As Roman took in Janus' appearance he can tell that Janus has vitiligo hafe of Janus’s tan skin in his face has a white spot on it. Janus sat down at his desk and motioned for Romen to take a seat in the chair right in front of him. Roman hesitated for a moment befor sitting down and what calmed his mind was that Remus was right there for him. Janus pulls out a folder and places it on his desk.” you don't have to try and convince me that what happened to you was true. Me and Remus has been together since highschool and i've been documenting everything they did to Remus and the only resun i haven't brout them to court yet is because Remus wanted you away form them.” Roman looked at his twin.” i knew if you were with them when we took them to court our parents would have ether manipulated you into believer that i was the bad guy and despite us not talking for years you are still my twin robro and you were the only person in my family that loved me i wouldn't risk losing you but since you here i'm not afrad.” tears filled Romans eyes, his parents and his wife never said that they loved him, only Remus did.

“ Can I look through the folder?” Both Remus and Janus stiffened. Janus looked over at his husband silently asking for permission since it was about him Remus nodded and Janus handed over the folder.” if you want to but i will have to wear you, it is pretty.” when Roman got the final in his hands he can feel the heat of it he was scared for what he was about to find out. he knew that there parents tried Remus worse than they treated him because he always followed there rules but Remus always went against the grain but they always hide ther treatment of Remus from him. It was a lot worse than he could have ever imagined Remus was put throw all abuse exeped for sexiual there where transcrips of the mental and emotional abuse there were pitchers of bruises and cigarette burns all over his body tears fill Romans eyes how could he been so blind to the pain his twin was going throw when they were children before his parents turned their anger out on him he thought they had a happy family but now his eyes were open and he feels even worse because he was thinking there childhood was happy but he was so wrong. Roman looks up at her twin with tears in his eyes.`` I'm a tribal brother.” Remus laphed at Roman’s statement.” Robro you are the only reason i dident kill myself a long time agow.” Romans face goes pale at what Remus had said it horrified him that Remus has had those thoughts in the past their parents probably would have celebrated Remus’s death.

“ hey robro don't make that face i'm glad i dident send myself because if i did i would not have meet the love of my life and i wouldn't have my son, i wouldn't have change the past if i could because then i wouldn't have my life now.” a weak smile appears on Romans face happy that Remus still cares for despite not doing anything to help him at the time.” welp i better go check on the kids and help Login and Patten settalinto there new rooms i'll just leve you two alone so you can sort out all the legal stuff.`` and with that Roman was alone with Janus but if Remus trusted him he would too.

Chapter Text

Going over everything that Roman and his sons have been thrown at was a lot more difficult than he thought it would be. He finds it funny when he says all that they have been thrown it sounds like some dramatic tv show if he wasent living through it he would not have believed a thing he was saying but Janus dident laphe at him he simply listened to what Roman was saying taking notes along the way when he was finished his story Janus put down his pen.” Roman you will not have to worry about what comes next.” but the Romans believed him.” You don't know my parents; they have money, power, and friends in high places. They will win; they always win.” Roman said, holding back tears, but Janus just gave him a sly smile.” oh Roman i've been building this case the moment i meet Remus i know a person that can uncover all your parents and your wife's secrets legally of cores, not only can i get you divorced from that witch of a wife of yours but i can get you full custody and get her parental rights terminated, and as for your parents lets just say they have been doing some creative accounting with their business and im doing this pro bono.” Roman dident know what to say. He thinks Janus and Remus were the bravest people he has ever met.” thank you.” is all Roman could muster at the moment but Janus just waved him off.” You don't need to thank me now, let's go and help your kids settle in and make sure Remus hasn't set anything on fire yet.”

When Roman and Janus entered the living room, they saw all the niños, Remus, and Cerberus sitting on the couch and watching Bluey.”Ohh look, kids, the adults are finally done with their adult things. Now we can get the primos settled into their rooms.” All of them went down the hall on the walls where several pitchers of Remus, Janus, and Virgil, one of which was Remus and Janus' wedding photos. Remus wore an elegant wedding dress. Janus had on a hansom suit Roman would know that their parents would have fainted above seeing any of their sons in feminine clothes, another was the day they officially adopted Virgil it was Remus, Janus, and Virgil standing outside the courthouse Virgil was holding a homemade sign that read just got adopted in purple and black glitter letters there was also what he could suspect was Virgil's art a child obviously made them but they were pretty good. This was nothing like his parents and his wife's house, which only had expensive art, and the only family photos were staged photos that had no emotions in them, nothing like the stuff he is seeing in his brothers and his husband's house; they look like a happy family he has only seen on Disney channel shows. They stopped when they retook the top of the stairs.” ok, we have enough room for all of you to have your own room.” Roman can tell by the way the twins stiffened that they were unsure about this.” We never had our own rooms before.” Logian stated.” I've never slept by myself before.” Patten said quietly. “ Well, how about this? Why don't we try this out tonight, and if it is not working out, then we can change things up.” This surprises Roman and the twins when they live in their old house; whatever his parents or his wife said was law, and there was nothing he or the twins could do to change their minds.

All of them spent the day setting up Roman and the twins' rooms. Logan was happy to have his own space; he liked his things neat and orderly. At the same time, he did love his twin, but he had a hard time dealing with how messy Patton is, and hated it when he went into his stuff and didn't put it back where it belonged. At the same time, Patton was apprehensive about sleeping by himself for the first time because he didn't have to hear Logan constantly nagging him about how messy his stuff was. If he touches any of Logan’s things, he would get in trouble for not putting them back where they belonged. Roman had a hard time accepting that he could decorate his room however he wanted, but his wife was in charge of decorating. If Roman tried to put up something he liked, he would get yelled and beaten at by his wife, but with some encouragement from Remus andJanusu, he finally had a space of his own.
