Work Text:

"Aa-CHOO!" the sound echoed in the room.

A sound Trophy was used to hearing. Way more used than he'd be happy with, actually. He knew that, the moment Tissues stopped talking and started to slowly shut his eyes, he should immediately step back. "God, dude! Don't you ever get better!?"

"Can you imagine a Tissues better than this, though?" He answered, although the other had asked rethorically. Truth is, Trophy really couldn't, but that didn't make the situation any better. "It's part of my identityy! Just like you and your boring sports."

"Yeah, well, maybe if you practiced some of these 'boring sports' you wouldn't be as miserable."

"Ha, hah!" Tissues laughed in the most sarcastic tone he could manage to talk in. "You're lucky I'm too tired right now to challenge you to a game. I would totally destroy you, Trophy Horseplay, you'd be totally humiliated."

Trophy rolled his eyes. "Heh. I'd like to see you try."

"Too bad I just said I'm too tireed! Geez, you should pay more attention."

.

Trophy looked through the photos on his hand as he walked through the hotel entrance. He kept walking without looking up from the pictures he held until the sound of someone mumbling to themself distracted him. That was Tissues, sitting on the sofa alone, fidgeting with a game controller. Well, Box was there too, but that was the same as being alone. The TV showed a starting screen for a game Trophy only recognized because Soap and Pickle would spend hours playing it.

It wasn't hard to realize that Tissues didn't know how to play, or even start the game. Trophy chuckled, loud enough for Tissues to realize he was there.

"Hah! HAH!" He stopped for a moment to cough twice. "Don't laugh at me, you don't know how this thing works either. It should start when I press this button! The game doesn't like me!! It's because of my condishAWn, isn't it?" He crossed his arms and turned his face away from the TV. "Well, I didn't wanna play anyway."

Trophy let out another chuckle, then jumped over the sofa arm to sit next to Tissues. Though he kept some distance, just to be safe in case the other suddenly started sneezing. "It's a game for two, idiot. It won't start until you connect both controllers."

Tissues made an annoyed sound. "No one wants to play against me, though! They're all scared because of how good at this I am!"

Trophy smiled mockingly. "They don't want to play against you cause only losers play this, Tissues."

"You're doing a bad job hiding that you're scared too. You're only saying this because you know you have no chance against someone as skilled as me."

"Oh yeah!?" He said immediately, then picked up one of the other three controllers that were on the ground, connected its wire to the device in which the controller Tissues had was connected, and sat back on the sofa. "I'll show you how easily I can beat this stupid game and you'll regret challenging me!" He yelled, smiling.

.

"Hah! That's another victory for me!" Trophy turned to look at the other, expecting him to try and say, again, that his condition caused him to get distracted and that's why he lost. Instead, the only sound he heard was the quiet breathing of Tissues sleeping.

Maybe it was because of how much time he spent trying to justify each and every time he lost by blaming the TV, or the controller, or even the game itself, or maybe it was because of how much time Tissues spent convincing the other to switch controllers before they even started playing just because player 1 was green, and Tissues didn't want the character he was playing as to be the color he hates the most, but Trophy was pretty surprised to look through the window and find that it was already dark outside. Though he was tired too, and just didn't realize because he was too distracted with the game.

Trophy stood up and disconnected both controllers, placing them next to the TV. Then stared at Tissues for a moment. He wasn't going to carry him to their room, of course, he was lucky he had at least this night without having to hear him sneezing and coughing every five seconds, but maybe it was a bit hypocritical to leave him sleeping in the cold and later be annoyed that he's sick.

Though, when Soap walked from the hall and caught him with a blanket to cover his roommate, his excuses weren't very convincing.

.

Trophy kneeled down and closed one of his eyes, trying to find the best angle for the photo. He tilted the camera to one side, then to the other, trying to make as little noise as possible, as to not scare the butterfly away. That until he heard a sneeze.

"Tissues-!" He looked up to see Tissues rubbing his eyes.

"Arghh, sorry." He opened his eyes, seeing the butterfly flying away.

"Ugh. I don't know why I even thought letting you come with me was a good idea." Trophy stood up, patting his knees to dust them off. "Did you see where it went?"

Tissues pointed to the left, to where Trophy started walking to. He followed him close behind, but not too close, since the other really didn't like when he suddenly started sneezing or coughing. "Sorry again... I didn't meant to ruin your photo."

"Yeah, yeah, whatever." Trophy said, then turned around to face him. "Just- If you feel like you're going to sneeze again, walk back a little or something."

Tissues nodded.

There weren't many steps after until they found the butterfly on the top of a small rock. Once again, Trophy kneeled down and zoomed the camera so the insect would be on the center of the photo. Tissues took a few steps back.

"Hah! I got it!!" Trophy sat down, not caring if the butterfly flew away this time, since the photo was already good. Tissues sat next to him to look at it.

"Yang would like this one."

"Anyone would like this one! I'm so good at this!" He smiled and raised his hand for a high five. Tissues hesitated for a moment knowing that Trophy was probably too excited about the photo to even realize he just offered a high five to the person he claims to be disgusted by the most, but went with it regardless.

"You're not that good, I could be totally better than that." He joked, to which Trophy answered only rolling his eyes.

"Well, all of this made me hungry, I'm going back inside." He got up. Tissues followed.

"Yeaah, I'm not that hungry, but I'm tired, I need a rest!"

.

"What are you doing..?" Tissues asked as he walked to the hotel's living room, rubbing his eyes, and holding a pillow.

Trophy seemed surprised to see him, or anyone at all, at that time. "Drinking tea." He answered.

"Agh! You're drinking tea at 3 AM and I'm the weird one." He said in an annoyed tone, but sat down anyway.

"It's what you do when you can't sleep, genius." the last part was obviously sarcastic, but Trophy didn't make the effort to make it sound like that. "Tea normally helps with that, you know."

"You woke me up! Now I can't sleep too! And I don't like tea! It tastes like hot water and nothing else." He crossed his arms. Though he knew maybe the tea was good and his lack of appetite was, most likely, the problem. He covered his mouth to cough, trying not to accidentally wake the whole hotel up.

"Dude, do you just not like everything that could help that condition of yours? God."

"Tea helping sickness is a myth to make people buy more tea. And I'm too smart to fall for that." Tissues started. "Besides, you hate me, right? I don't see why you're so worried."

"Because if you get worse, I'm the one you sneeze all over, idiot."

"I think you just can't resist how amazing I am." he said, with a proud smile. "You totally don't hate me anymore, I'm great at seeing through people's lies, it's like my superpower, I'm really good at it. And you're really bad at hiding stuff, Trophy Horseplay."

"Yeah, well, and I think you're hallucinating." Trophy took another sip of the tea. Tissues thought that tea was probably too hot, which is what he assumed to be the reason for Trophy's face looking slightly more red than usual.

He stood up and went back to the room, realizing he was already tired again.
