Chapter Text

It had been a year and a half since Tony almost fucking died.

He remembered the feeling of dread, that death was coming for him.

At the hands of fucking Steve Rogers of all people. A man he used to think of as a friend, but now knows what he truly is. A liar and a selfish person that only cares for himself, or for Bucky Barnes.

However, it seemed life didn't think it was his time yet. Because the moment he closed his eyes, and thought it was over. He actually opened them again, in a hospital room, with Vision at his side.

"How are you feeling Mr. Stark ?"

"Vis...where I am ?"

"You are in New York sir. On the hospital."

"New York...but how did I get here from Siberia ?"

"King T'Challa had followed you to get Barnes and offer back up. After he apprehended Zemo, he came back looking for you, and found you in time." Vision shook his head. "We were very lucky. The King actually encountered Rogers and he told him you were just cooling off. The King however knew better to believe Mr. Rogers, and still went looking."

Oh shit.

Thank god.

He didn't know what to think of T'Challa before. He let his grief consume him, but Tony understood the sudden pressure he must have felt. Now he owns the man his life.

"He delivered you to Moscow hospital where you were stabilized. Afterwards you were taken to New York where Doctors, Helen Cho and Christine Palmer managed to fully safe you. You've been in a coma for 4 weeks sir. I...We were all very worried."

"Wait...what happened to Rhodey ?"

"Colonel Rhodes is still healing from his fall." Vision said guilty. "He hasn't been able to come. But he has been monitoring your progress from there. Ms. Potts was actually here an hour ago, but she had to leave for a meeting. I should mention to you that Mr. Parker also visited you under the Spiderman suit."

"I see....So they are all well ?"

"Yes they are."

"What about Rogers, do we know where he is." Tony was healing, but once he did, the bastard was gonna pay.

"He broke his teammates out of the Raft with Ms. Romanoff's help, after that, we got no leads on any of them."

"Hm, so now I assume the world thinks I am the bad guy. For hurting the great Captain America."

Vision smirked. "Actually, I think you should see what the world thinks yourself."

Vision turned the TV on, and....Tony was greatly surprised.

There were protests, AGAINST Rogers. All calling for him to face justice, and condemning him and his team.

At the same time, people were laying flowers on the tower, and he had a lot of get better cards.

"I believe the world has chosen a side." Vision said. "And it's not Rogers's sir. It's yours."

Tony was discharged a week later by Dr. Palmer. Pepper and Happy were waiting for him and took him to the tower. To home.

Vision, Rhodes, and Peter waited for him there, and they all had a great reunion.

"I bet Ross wants my ass for not being there for the Raft break out."

"Not really. The man is in a lot of trouble after all." Rhodey smiled.

"What...what the hell did you all do."

"Pep worked with T'Challa to expose all of his corrupt ways and his anti enchanced agenda while you were gone. We even discovered he was the one that actually gave Rogers and Wilson their gear back. Having an agent use a face mask to look like Sharon Carter so that Rogers would take the bait. Speaking of you should call her. She's been nuts when she learned of what happened."

"Of course. The real Sharon was hurt when the Winter Soldier was triggered in Berlin."

"Anyway." Pepper continued. "Ross wanted, incited the fight on the airport, so super heroes were looked even more badly, and he would gain enough power to get control of all of you, or capture you. Now he is on a jail cell, waiting for trial for all of his questionable actions, staring for his actions against Bruce, to the accords issue."

Good, finally justice for Bruce. Wherever he is, Tony hopes Bruce can finally know it.

"Say Tony. I got a call from the Director of SHIELD some days ago." Pepper said.

"Hum. I don't want to do anything with Fury again. I am done with him, Hill, or those bastards."

"Of course, and we will bring them down again. However, this wasn't Fury. He wants to meet with you, and I think you should do. Something tell me SHIELD is now lead by an actual good man. One that those care about others more than power."

"Well, if you say so Pep. I'll meet with this new guy. Do you know his name ?"

"I'm gonna leave it as a surprise."

Afterwards, Rhodey explained what happened with the accords.

"After you....well you know. The accords gained a lot of momentum both from governments, and the public. 154 countries have signed them already, and there are more coming. Of course, with Romanoff breaking the contract, only you, Vis, T'Challa, and I are the only signees at the moment. The question is what to do about the Avengers now ?"

"Simple. We do what I do when an experiment fails. We rebuild. Take the working parts and put them back, and replace the broken ones with brand new ones."

The next day the Director of SHIELD visited him, and like Pepper said. He was in for a big suprise.

"Holly shit, you're alive !" In front of him, stood Phil Coulson.

"It's been a long time Tony."

"Wow....what happened to you, not only are you not dead you are the director now !"

"Well, it's actually a very long story."

Phil told him how Fury and Hill used a very painful (and illegal) process to bring him back to life with alien blood. How he had amnesia for almost two years, and wasn't able to remember many things. How he was constantly watched so that he would not contact the Avengers in any shape or form. Then SHIELD fell, and Fury made him director, hoping to bring it back.

"Then I decided it was time to do some...changes."

No more was the secrecy and the hope to gain power. He had a inner purge to get all of those people out of SHIELD, so that those who were left, where the ones that actually cared for the safety of the world. Tony even learned that Phil had been the one to send the helicarger to Sokovia, not Fury.

"I wished to reveal myself sooner, but Ward made it impossible."

"Ward ?"

"An Agent of Hydra. Who made it his mission to bring down SHIELD. And when we finally killed him, and alien parasite came and took over his body, and became even more dangerous."

Phil also told him of the new head SHIELD team. All made of trusty people. Including a woman Phil had essentially adopted as his daughter.

"She's not in the best state of mind right now. Her boyfriend died on the battle with Hive, and....well she is not feet for duty. She already agreed to sign the accords when she is ready."

"I see, that's understandable."

Seeing this new team, an actual family that Phil made, made him feel more determined to build the Avengers like that.

They spoke of SHIELD's new rule under the accords, and about what the New Avengers could be.

"I think. That the Avengers do need a Captain. Not Steve Rogers, but an actual Captain."

He handled him a pager.

"With this, you will get in contact with Captain Carol Danvers. She was the person that inspired the Avengers in the first place. I had a friend...take it from Fury. A very..furry friend. Anyway, I say talk to her. She could be very useful."

He called Captain Danvers and she told him she would be there in 3 days. Aperiantly...she's in space. Weird.

During that time, Tony called T'Challa to thank him for saving me.

"Thank you your Highness. I own you my life."

"There is no need for that Dr. Stark. I knew Mr. Rogers couldn't be trusted, and I had to check to see if his words were true. Speaking of him, I am afraid I got to talk to you about him. I got some news."

"Really, what is it ?"

"He showed up in Wakanda yesterday. With the rest of his team."

"He did....what ?"

"I believe I informed Colonel Rhodes before hand my intention of helping Barnes getting free of the triggers, so he could safely face trial. Mr. Rogers left him here when he went to break his team out of the Raft. However, he thought that my offer was for all of his team, and not just for Barnes."

"Yeah, that's Rogers for you. Thinks everyone owns him something."

"Indeed. I informed him that my offer was not for him, and he started this.....delusional talk. It gave me a head ache for days. After a while the message at they weren't welcome finally got to their heads, and left. My country is currently in no state to hold them, and we are dealing with the aftermath of my father's death. There was one exception though. Scott Lang. He decided to turn himself in, so I allowed him to be here while the authorities pick him up."

"I see. Good for the guy. Being with Rogers would have made his situation worst."

"Indeed. I believe that Mr. Lang was just a pawn of all of this, as he had a very vague idea on what was actually happening, and he informed us that he didn't feel...safe, being there. Reagrthess Mr. Lang has already declared his intention of pleading guilty to all charges against him."

They disussed about partnerships between SI and Wakanda, and the Black Panther's role as a reserve Avengers. He said his duties as King came first, which Tony understood.

Afterwards, Tony came out of the meeting with a new teammate, and a new friend.

Finally, Carol Danvers arrived.

Happy opened the door for her.

"Captain Danvers."

"Dr. Stark." She shook his hand. "I must say I was suprised when I got called by Coulson and not Fury. It seems a lot has changed while I was gone."

"Allow me to fill you in Captain."

He told her how the Avengers came to be. Loki's invasion.

"Wait, why didn't Fury call me ? I mean, I know how to handle alien invasions."

"Trust me, the pirate and all of the SHIELD agents you met, except for Coulson, changed for the worst."

"Heh. I can see that now. Tell me more, I am intrigued."

Carol was intrigued by Thor and the Hulk. She was however, not impressed by Captain America.

"I was never a fan of his."

"Trust me, he is not what the comics portrayed him to be."

He told her of the fall of SHIELD, Ultron, and the accords.

"Wait, those documents aren't a bad thing. I mean they do take control, which is exactly what it was needed. "

"Right. But he insisted that the best hands where his own, and that only he could make choices."

"Goodnes what and asshole. Is that the guy Maria admired. Fuck it."

"Rogers is used to get what he wants. This time, he didn't get it. So he and his team went rouge. The reiparance of the Winter Soldier made thinks even worst, as he is the only guy Rogers truly cares about. He and his team went in a rampage on Europe, and sent my best friend and myself to the hospital."

Finally, the question came.

"I didn't stay on Earth, because many planets had no defense. Now though, now that's not the case. A new team called the Guardians of the Galaxy has saved the universe twice already. The Galaxy is much more protected now. I think it's time to get back home."

"So, do we have deal Captain ?"

"Where do I sign ?"

With Carol on the team. The New Avengers started operating officially. Despite her having actual experience, she didn't want to be the leader, as she was a bit outdated on Earth. It was soon decided that Rhodey is the perfect leader.

They went to a lot of mission. Some with Phil's team, and the Black Panther joined them twice. They also had to help T'Challa get rid of his asshole cousin.

Then, another suprise came in. An alien ship came and landed near the now unused compound.

The New Avengers came in a, and to his big suprise. Thor and Bruce where there.

"My friend !" Thor said while crushing Tony in a hug.

"Hey buddy...its nice to see you, to se you both. But...what the hell is this ?"

Turns out Thor and Bruce had been threw their own hell.

It did make him feel better to know that Bruce had not abandoned him willingly, but rather that he had been trapped on an alien planet without any way to escape. Though he wasn't happy at all that that happened to his friend.

"So you had an older sister than Odin never told you about."

"Yes, and trust me. She is evil"

"Huh. I'm sorry for you big guy. Evil brother and sister ?"

"I wouldn't call myself evil Anthony."

"BAH ! What in the world.....You're alive !" He pointed at Loki, who had come out of nowhere.

"Yeah, that's part of the story as well." Thor said.

Turns out Loki had been possing as Odin since his "death" and...turns out he actually changed Asgard for the better.

"My brother actually did wonders too Asgard. I do intend to keep the changes he made." It seems whatever issues Thor and Loki had, where now gone.

Thor told them how his evil sister came just after Odin died. He and Loki were sent to the planet where Bruce was trapped, and after Thor and Hulk fought (who won is a conflicted statement) they teamed up with Bruce's new friend, the badass Valkyrie, and escaped back to Asgard, where they fought Hela. In the end, Thor had to fulfill a prophecy and free a fire demon that destroyed Asgard in a suicidal attack, killing Hela in the process.

Afterwards Thor took the remaining Asgard survivors, and hopes they can resettle on Earth.

Then Tony started his own story, explaining what had happened.

"HE INVITED MAXIMOFF ON THE TEAM !" Bruce yelled, turning a bit green.

"He said she deserved a second chance, and that I was being cruel because I didn't want to confront my mistakes for Ultron. Even though the courts cleared me from it."

"Of course. I told him it had been the Mind Stone, not you. Why did he keep blaming you ?" Thor asked.

"Well, Rogers had a motive to keep me off the Avengers."

Tony told them of the Civil War, the Accords, and Rogers' lies.

There was nothing to do after that. The Hulk had to come out to express his own feelings. Valkyrie took him away to calm down. It seems she had taken over Romanoff, but unlike her, she actually did care for Bruce. Bruce deserves someone like that.

Thor was also extremely angry. Tony thought he was just gonna jump in and attack Rogers. But he soon learned that the Thor that acted before thinking was long gone. A new wiser Thor that thought every move now stood in front of him.

"I can't believe it....such a disgrace. The Captain is not the man we thought he was."

"And now, the world knows it."

Thor and Bruce agreed with the accords and signed them. Bruce as a full member, but with the condition that the Hulk would only come in case of emergency. Thor however had to sign as a reserve member. As he is now the King of Asgard and needs to be there. Instead, he offered to have Valkyrie sign as a full member, as she is a warrior. Loki was the hardest case. Thor had uncovered evidence that Loki had been under mind control by the true mastermind of the 2012 invasion, but the Accords weren't very confortable with him at the moment. So it was decided that he would become a magical consultant.

The New Avengers gained even more strength now thanks to the return of old friends, and the team was looked upon more.

During this time, Scott Lang's fate was decided. After making a check on the guy, and talking to Hope van Dyne (a future member once her suit is complete) he, Rhodey, Vision, Peter, and T'Challa decided not to press charges against him for the airport battle. Hank Pym didn't charge him with stealing the suit as well. The only charges Lang faced where the illegal entry to Germany, and the property damage. Scott pleaded guilty to both of them and got a plea deal. Two years under house arrest, to be served on San Fransisco on the Pym household. Tony had come to the conclusion that Scott had only been a pawn on all of this, and that the man was a genuinely good guy. He got a letter from Scott, with a sincere apology (unlike certain other letter) on all of what happened. They decided that after his house arrest is over, Ant Man could join the New Avengers.

Of course, he would be the only one that would be given this chance. The rest of the rouges were going down after caught. Tony knows Rogers is waiting for a pardon or anything like that, for the world to bow down to him. But that time is gone, and soon, the man will have to face reality.

A new member also joined them. Stephen Strange, who almost gave Tony a hear attack when he went to a check up with Christine.

"Hello Dr. Stark."

"What the ! Who are you !"

"My name is Doctor Stephen Strange. Sorcerer Supreme. Christine is my wife."

"Ah that's how you know I was here....wait, aren't you the infinite beer wizard Thor talked about ?"

"Ugh."

"You are up late again." Carol said over the lab entrance.

"Science never sleeps."

"But you do. Don't make me carry you Tony."

Over the months, he and Carol had become very close friend. They had similar tastes, and had tendencies of taking young heroes under their wings.

Tony had become Peter's mentor as he got to the age where he could join the Avengers. He also finally convinced Peter to tell May the truth, which she already suspected. May took it surprisingly calm, and said that as long as Peter didn't act alone, she would allow Spiderman to continue.

Carol on the other hand, had kinda taken Phil's kid, Daisy Johnson, under her wing. One could see where that came from. Both of them were experiments of the Kree after all. Daisy wanted to remain with SHILED at the time being, which was fine with them. But Carol taught her things many times.

"I know it. Ok, I am up."

"Good, I was about to set Dumm E on you."

"Please don't. I don't want an extintor on my face."

They stayed like that many nights. Goofing, listening to old music. Making fun of Rhodey of course. And it ended with Carol practically dragging him to the bed.

Until....the time came that Carol did not go back to her bed, and just slept with him.

That same day, Iron Man and Captain Marvel began dating. To the joy of the fans.

It wasn't like romances where a weird thing on the team. Bruce and Valkyrie were now dating as well. So....screw the haters.

With a new girlfriend, old and new friends, and a new team that truly cared for him, Tony finally felt happy.

And then, the time finally came.

"We got them." Carol said, she and Rhodey entering the room.

"What...who ?"

"Rogers." Rhodey said seriously. "They are on Colombia. Fighting what they think it's a terrorist force, but hurting the police as well."

"Sticking their noses where they don't belong. Well then, let's get them."

Rhodey nodded and went to prepare.

"Hey, you are gonna be alright ?" Carol asked. "Those assholes aren't going to hurt you."

"I know that. I know I got a true team at my back."

"Good." She gave him a quick kiss. "Let's go. I look forward on finally punching Rogers on the face."

Yes...the time has finally come for Steve Rogers and his crew to face the consequences for the choices they made.

Steve can't believe that it's been a year and a half, and they still haven't been called back home.

When he freed his team from the Raft with Nat's help (who finally saw the light and that Steve is right) he thought that it would only take Tony some days to get past his ego, call Steve, so that he could properly apologize and things would return to normal.

However, Steve's plans soon started falling apart.

He was sure T'Challa had also seen the truth behind the Accords, he had helped Bucky after all. Surely he would help the rest of the Avengers as well.

But the King didn't do that.

"I believe I was clear before. I am offering Sergeant Barnes sanctuary, only Sergeant Barnes."

"But...but why ?"

"Because Captain. I own you nothing, I don't like you, my country doesn't like you. We have no reason to welcome you and your team here."

"But I thought you finally saw the truth. The Accords are dangerous !" Steve couldn't understand why anyone couldn't see that.

"You are forgetting that my father was one of the people that worked on the accords on the very beginning ? I am in full favor of them Captain. You and your team proofed that they are more than necessary."

"Your Highness." Natasha tried. "Surely you understand the great benefit of helping the Avengers."

"You speak as if you are still Avengers Ms. Romanoff."

What is he saying, they are the Avengers !

"T'Challa..."

"No, enough of this ! My country is currently in a mourning state, so I don't have the time to properly secure you. I am giving you this one chance only, get on that plane, and leave, never return."

Steve wanted to protest, but then things got even worst.

"Eh excuse me King T'Challa." Scott said timidly. "I...I am hoping you can help me with something."

"What is it ?"

"I wish to turn myself in. I am hoping you can help me do that."

"Scott what are you doing !" Steve said panicked. Why does Scott want to go back to prison when he did nothing wrong ! "We are heroes. We did nothing wrong !"

"Nothing wrong ? We did things wrong Steve. I attacked Iron Man, War Machine, the Vision...oh god I could have killed them. And you...you and the others slaughter those guards. They were people Steve, they didn't have to die !"

"They are accords people !"

Scott's eyes filled with rage.

"So what ! They are still people. Men and women with families, with kids. I saw a man's body, holding the photo of his daughter ! I have a daughter, one that I should have never left behind for you. I thought Captain America was a hero, clearly I was wrong."

Before Steve could speak, T'Challa spoke.

"Mr. Lang. I am glad you have realized all of this. Yes, I would gladly help you turn yourself in, and get back to the States. In that case, you can come into Wakanda."

Scott quickly moved towards the Dora, who where there more for his own protection rather than securing him.

"As for the rest of you. I am giving you 10 minutes to leave Wakanda."

"But Bucky...." Steve was not going to leave Bucky behind. Not after everything.

"Sergent Barnes will remain protected. That doesn't mean anything to whatever I choose to do with you."

Steve wanted to protest again. To stand as a tree and not move. But Natasha got ahead of him.

"Understood. We will leave and never bother you again." She practically dragged Steve back into the quinjet.

Sam closed the door while Nat sat besides Clint on the cockpit.

"Where the hell are we going now ?"

"Set course to South America. We should have enough fuel to get there." Natasha said. "Bolivia and Paraguay haven't signed the accords. We will be safer there."

"Why South America ?"

"North America is of course out of question, so is Europe. Asia is to close to Russia and China to comfort, Australia and New Zeland both signed, and we must get away from Wakanda. So Africa is out. South America, though by no means safe, it's our best bet."

"We can't leave yet !" Steve insisted. "Bucky is still there, I can't leave him."

"Steve, you don't know where they have him at. It's for the best you don't interfere now. Don't take this opportunity from Barnes." Sam said.

Steve sadly watched as they left Wakanda....left Bucky behind.

"Bucky...."

They landed in Paraguay, as Bolivia was surrendered by accords signess. Nat said it's safer with the coast.

They had to settle in for crappy apartments and motels. Steve hated it all.

What was taking the world so long to realize that the true heroes were being kept away ? Why could no one see that ?"

To Steve's horror, the world embraced the accords, and condemned his actions.

Steve wanted to make a video, to show the world the truth. But Natasha and Clint didn't allow it.

"We need to remain hidden Cap. Until the time is right."

Steve could only watch as the world chose the wrong side. How the Accords got control over the Avengers, and turned the heroes into criminals. It wasn't fair.

He was a bit suprised when he learned that Ross, instead of getting control over the Avengers, headed to trial and prison.

"35 years without possibility of parole." Sam said quietly. "Good riddance."

"At his age and with his heart problems, that's practically a life sentence." Natasha said.

Well that at least brought some light to the team. It was a good step forward.

They also soon learned about Scott's fate. Turns out, Tony, Rhodes, Vision, and T'Challa chose not to press charges against him. Scott was only charged by the German government, and got two years of house arrest. Steve didn't think that was right, but also admitted it could have been a lot worst. At least Scott is with his family.

"They went a lot easer on him than I would have imagined." Clint remarked.

"Maybe this is a sign." Steve said hopefully. "That we will be welcomed back soon."

"No Steve." Natasha said. "What happened to Lang will not happen again. If we head to trial, it will be a lot worst."

"Hey I have been wondering. Does anyone know what happened to Sharon ?" Sam asked.

That's right, Sharon. Steve had forgotten.

"She's clear. There are no charges against her." Nat said.

"Wha...what ? Why is she getting a free pass !"

"I bet it had to be Tony."

"Tony...why would he help Sharon ?" Steve asked. He didn't know they knew each other.

"They're cousins." Nat said simply. "Though they behaved more like siblings as children. Tony would never allow her to go to prison."

"Hah, like Stark cares about anyone but himself." Wanda growled.

"He cares about his family. That's a weakness SHIELD tried to get, and why Fury made his hardest efforts to keep them apart, despite Coulson's protests and interference."

"Tony and Sharon.....are cousins ?" Steve could't believe it.

"Peggy Carter is Tony's godmother."

She was what ......why did he never told him ! Dam it, when is Tony gonna learn that he should not be keeping secrets for the team ?

Then the news came out. The New Avengers.

Steve couldn't believe Tony's audacity. Instead of finally fixing his mistakes. He created a new team with Rhodes, Vision, and this so called Captain Marvel. Steve didn't believe she was an actual Captain.

"Just wait man. There is no way Stark can handle his own team." Clint said. "Soon we will have to go and clean the mess, again."

And that never happened.

Tony surprisingly did very well with his new team. Even if they were only 4 (though sometimes the Black Panther came to help) they never caused a mess.

Soon, the news came out of Thor's and Bruce's return. Steve was sure their friends would speak on their defense.

Only for Steve to receive the shock of his life, when Thor and Bruce condemned his actions, and signed the accords alongside a woman he didn't know. Another man named Dr. Strange quickly joined the team after that. Steve couldn't understand why all of this was happening.

Why wasn't the world welcoming them back. Why did they continue working with the accords.

Steve had no idea why. He had won, so why isn't he back home ?

1 year and a half later, Steve decided enough is enough.

It's time to take matters into their own hands.

"We can't be hiding anymore. We need to show the world we are not gonna stand for the Accords' control, and that the real heroes are still out there."

Then, a sign came in. Finally, a sing that things were finally going to head back on track.

There were terrorist attacking the south of Colombia. That country was close, they could do it.

"Colombia signed the accords." Nat said. "There are dangers."

"I understand that Nat. But once we save people, there is no way the accords can't get us."

"Steve is right." Sam said. "We have been sitting, waiting for something to happen. It's time we show the accords that we are not just going to sit down and take."

"I am in as well. When they see us saving people under Captain America's command, they will know where the true heroes are." Clint said.

"I am in as well. It's the beginning of my revenge against Stark." Wanda said.

Natasha sighted. "I guess it's time to show Stark and the others we are not just gonna stand down and take it. I'll get the jet ready."

Steve boarded the jet with a smile on his face.

Today, Captain America was gonna return. Today, their stand against the accords will bare fruits.

Things were gonna return to normal today.

And here they are, in Colombia where things....things were so chaotic.

Explosions were around everywhere. People were running away from the chaos. It motived Steve to fight even more.

He grabbed a person with a gun and slammed his fist into his face.

"Espere !" The man yelled. "Nosotros somos la policia Colombiana !"

Steve didn't know spanish. But the man was killing innocents. Is his duty as a hero to stop him.

Steve smashed his fist again on the man, bringing him down, and he didn't get back up.

"PAPÁ !" A little girl yelled. An old man dragging her away. "PAPÁ NO !"

Steve game the girl a smile. So that she knew Captain America was here to protect her.

Steve then went to fight more armed guys, when a blast sent him flying.

"What ?"

"Hello again Rogers."

And out of the smoke, Iron Man landed.

Sam flew around the chaos.

"Steve, can anyone hear me ?"

Dam it. Maybe coming here wasn't a good idea after all. They had no idea what was going on.

Sam finally spotted Steve. And....oh god what the hell is he doing !

Steve was beating a police man. Not a bad guy.

"STEVE STOP !"

Sam however, was suddenly attacked by a hard punch. Sending him to the ground.

"Ugh, what..."

"You have really done it now Wilson !"

In front of Sam, stood James Rhodes.

"Rhodes..."

"I mean what the fuck are you idiots thinking, attacking innocent people !"

"We...we came to help."

"Help ? You are doing things a lot worst !" Rhodes pointed his guns. "You are under arrest for a lot of crimes. Stand down, now ! I will not hesitate to shoot you."

"You...arrest me...but I was helping Captain America. He is a hero !"

"And that so called hero." Rhodes growled with pure hero. "Almost killed my best friend."

Rhodes didn't give Sam anymore time. He shot Sam a tranq dart, and Sam fell to the ground.

The image of Steve beating up that policemen was the last thing he saw before blacking out.

Clint shot at a woman firing from a car. Sending her and the car flying.

This is it. This is what he wanted to do. Laura and the kids must be watching very proud of him.

He went to shoot again, but a hand held his bow.

"What..."

A woman came out.

"So....this is one of the so called, New Avengers ?"

"I...I know you. You are the one that came with Thor and Banner !"

"Oh yeah. I am."

Clint tried to pull his bow away, but she just broke it with her hand.

"What !"

"I am Asgardian genius."

She smashed her fist in Clint's face, and that's the last he knew before blacking out.

"AAAAAAH!, Porfavor deténgase !" A man yelled as Wanda used her powers on him.

"You are a criminal." Wanda threw him to the air, where the man smashed into a building.

She imagined for a moment doing that too Stark. Yes, once they are back and Steve is back in command. She will not allow the man to escape justice any longer.

"Ms. Maximoff."

Wanda turned around and saw a man in a cape, the one that sided with Stark.

"What do you want ?"

"I am afraid you are under arrest. I need you to come with me."

"Hum, like hell I will." She shot her powers at him.

Only for him to just take them, and nothing happened.

"What !" No...that's impossible. No one is as powerful as her !

"You have strong magic, but no experience." Stephen said dismissively. "You have used your gifts to hurt innocents, and it's my duty to stop you."

"No, YOU WON'T LOCK ME UP AGAIN !"

"I bet he thinks otherwise."

A loud boom was heard behind her.

"MAXIMOFF !" Thor yelled.

Wanda tried to use her powers on Thor, but (thanks to Loki) it just bounced on him.

"YOU ROTTEN WOMAN. I WILL MAKE SURE YOU PAY FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE !"

Wanda was powerless as Thor came in and knocked her out.

Natasha was beginning to think that this was a bad idea.

Granted, she had been thinking that ever since T'Challa didn't allow them in Wakanda.

What had she been thinking, allowing Steve to escape. That man is unable to keep his head clear when it came to Barnes.

She had hoped that the reputation of Captain America, and Stark's not so good past, would play a role in their favor.

But that never happened, Captain America is trash now, and Stark in on the peak.

She had clearly made the wrong choice, so now she had to do whatever it takes to either make it the right one, or safe herself.

"So you are the famous Black Widow ? I am not impressed."

Natasha turned to the voice behind her. Captain Marvel.

"I mean, Phil said you were disappointing so why am I suprised."

Phil, who is she fighting for.

"You are making a mistake."

"Really ?"

"You don't know what man Stark is. Captain America is the right side."

"I never liked Captain America. And I believe in Tony completely. I mean, I am dating him so..."

She is...dam it. She planned to use Stark's fragile emotional state to get to do what she wanted. But if he found a new woman....

"Anyway, hands up Ms. Romanoff. You are under arrest."

Natasha quickly got out a gun, but Carol grabbed it, and smashed it with her bare hand.

"Assaluting a peace officer. Way to go, you added more crimes to your list."

Carol smashed her head on Natasha's knocking her out.

Steve got ready to fight. What is Tony doing here ?

"Tony..."

"You really have done it Rogers. Attacking police officers ?"

Police officers...no, they were criminals. This clearly shows Tony is not fit for leadership.

"I am doing the right thing Tony."

"Keep telling yourself that."

"Enough. You can't defeat me Tony. Not alone." Looks like he might have to teach Tony another lesson.

"Who says I am alone. Am I right green guy ?"

Behind Steve, a loud landing was heard.

"GWROAAAAR !" Hulk roared. Watching Steve with full fury.

Steve still couldn't understand why Bruce sided with the accords.

"So Cap. Are you gonna turn yourself in, or are we going to do this ?"

Steve realized he needed back up.

"Nat, Sam, Clint, Wanda ? Can you hear me ?"

"Yeah that's not going to happen Rogers. FRIDAY made sure your coms don't work, and the other idiots have already been captured. It's only you."

No...that can't be. They were heroes, they always win ! He has to save his team.

"Oh, well there is still Barnes. Who will also face trial once Wakanda gets free of the triggers. Maybe he will join you in prison.

That did it. Steve would never allow Tony to hurt Bucky.

"I WON'T LET YOU HURT BUCKY !"

Steve tried to smash the arc reactor, but Tony dodged in time. He responded with powerful punches, more powerful than in Siberia. Tony couldn't be this strong, Steve had already defeated him !

Tony blasted Steve to the floor.

"Stand down."

Steve however, stood up. He would never stand down. He is Captain America, a hero.

"I can do this all day."

"Yeah but I got things to do. Hulk ?"

Without warning, Hulk grabbed Steve's legs.

"CAPTAIN HURT TONY, HULK HURTS CAPTAIN !"

Hulk then smashed Steve just like he had done to Loki. Steve was unable to defend himself.

When Hulk was done. Steve was barley conscious on the floor.

Tony stood in front of him.

"Game over Rogers. Now the time for consequences had come."

Tony shot him a dart, and Steve soon blacked out.

It couldn't end like this ! Heroes always win !

Right ?

Rhodey watched as the unconscious Rogers was dragged into the portal, to his cell.

"Thats all of them." FRIDAY said.

"Good, status on Vision and SHIELD ?"

"They have apprehended the criminals, the other group of criminals, and are starting first aid."

"Good, inform the Council, the trials must start soon."

"Yes Colonel."

Rhodey smiled with a little vengeance.

Finally, the world will see the true behind this "heroes" and the Rouges will soon learn that choices, have consequences.

Chapter Text

Carol shook her head as she took a pill for her ache.

"What a mess."

She had gotten world of the terrorist in Colombia before...they arrived. One of the few remaining Hydra cells, working with the remains of Ulises Klaw's gang.

They had a petty objective, steal emeralds. After all, 70-90% of the emeralds are found in this country.

It was supposed to be a rather easy mission. The whole team wasn't even required.

But then, SHIELD got the call, the Rouges had chosen to reaper in there, and make things a lot worst.

They had coordinated with the police to just keep track of the criminals until they arrived, so they could all gain on them. Surround them and make sure damage was kept to a minimal.

The Rouges didn't know that. They didn't know the situation. So they just barged in, and the criminals started shooting. Since it got the people in danger, the police had to start fighting to protect the civilians. Sadly, somehow the Rouges thought they were part of the criminal gangs and attacked them as well.

Now, a once perfectly planned situation turned into another disaster. 23 people were dead. And a lot of property damage was done.

Some of those people were directly killed by the rouges, and not in the fight.

Carol took a moment to glare at Steve Rogers. She never liked Captain America....but she didn't expect him to be like this.

Captain America had killed a police officer, in front of his own daughter, and smiled at the kid. Tony had seen it and told her about it. That little girl will be traumatized for all of her life.

And knowing what Tony, Rhodey, and Bruce have said about Rogers. He will deny doing any wrong doing and make excuses.

Well the bright side here is that they got him. They got all of them. Incidents like this will never happen again.

Tony, Rhodey, and Phil came to her side.

"So, how bad is it truly ?"

"The Colombian government is understandably furious." Tony said. "They are pressing charges against all of them, adding another country to the list."

"And we just learned from the jet that they were hiding in Paraguay." Rhodey said. "So we can expect them to add charges of illegal entry as well."

"I got a message from the US representative of the Accords. The trials are beginning preparations, and they are in the process of finding them lawyers." Phil said. "However, not many people are interesting on taking their cases."

"Well if they have any brain cells, they know that pleading guilty is their only good option."

"Agreed. I feel sorry for the lawyer that will take Rogers' case. They are in for a painful ride."

"The prosecution already started on the case as well. Brucie's cousin, Jennifer Walters, will be the lead prosecutor. And from what Bruce told me, she had NEVER lost a case."

"Hmph. She managed to nail Ross so hard. Remember how pale he got as the trial passed. I can't imagine what she will do to this idiots. Speaking of, FRIDAY put us with Sharon. How are the idiots doing ?"

Sharon had a team ready to transport the Rouges to the cells they were gonna wait trial in. Bruce, Vision and Stephen where there as well.

"Hey." She greeted them threw the coms.

"Hey Sharry bear."

"First, don't call me that. Second, I got updates. For now only Wilson and Barton have woken up. Wilson seems to understand the mess that he is in, while Barton keeps ranting that he is to be let out. He wants to speak to Laura, which no way in hell."

"Yea cuz, we won't allow him to be with your girlfriend."

"You are so lucky i love you. Anyway, Rogers, Romanoff, and Maximoff are still out. Vision and Stephen have successfully blocked Maximoff from using her powers. They should be ready to be taken to the real cells soon."

"Good, keep us informed."

"Got it Captain."

Carol sighted.

She had seen and heard from friends how this people treated her boyfriend. And now.

Now they are going to pay for all they have done.

Sam knew they were in deep shit.

Going to Colombia had been a huge mistake. Things got so chaotic when they arrived.

Steve beating up that police officer....he can never see him like they had before.

"LET US OUT " Clint continued to yell. God did Sam want him to stop.

Couldn't they see, they fucked up. They did a mistake.

From his cell, he saw that Natasha was up, and examining the situation. Probably finding a way to safe herself.

Ironic that now that they are in cells, Sam started thinking the worst of them.

"Huh, Sam, Nat, Clint, Wanda ?" Steve yelled. "Are you guys ok ?"

"We are fine Steve." Sam told him. Just in prison though.

Steve stood in front of the bars, and tried to bend them.

"Get of the bars or we will shoot."

Sharon Carter stood in front of them. Bruce Banner at her side.

"Sharon..."

"Here is what's going to happen to you all. You will be transported into another location, where you will be taking to more...resistent cells. In there, you will meet with your lawyers and get prepared to face trials."

"Trials...but we have done nothing wrong !" Steve said.

Has Steve always been this oblivious ? Why is Sam only realizing this things now ?

Memories of Lagos, Bucarest, Leipzig, the Raft, and Colombia came in. They....they had done things right ?

But Steve is Captain America. He knows what's he's doing......no. He doesn't.

"I am not in the mood to listen to your delusions Rogers." Sharon said.

"Sharon what..."

"You almost killed my cousin Steve. Trust me, it's a big effort holding the urge to shoot you right now."

Sam noticed that Steve got a lot paler when she said that. What did she mean by Steve almost killing Stark. Steve said he was fine. That he had attacked him and Barnes and Steve had to subdue him. But seeing the anger on her's and Banner's faces, Sam could tell there was more of the story.

"But...you helped us."

"That wasn't me." Sharon said simply. "It was an agent sent by Ross to help, incite the violence, which you clearly fell for. I was on the hospital thanks to the injuries that the Winter Soldier gave me..

"IT WASN'T BUCKY !"

That got even Clint to shut up. What the hell Steve ?

"And.....the person that gave you the file was also not me. So no, I never helped you. Like my Aunt Peggy said, family is the most important for Carters. If she had seen how you left Tony, she would have shot you. She loved him a lot."

Steve got somehow even paler after that.

So Sharon never helped them. It had been a trap by Ross. To make them want to fight to get things worst. And they fell for it.

And Steve kissed a random stranger, though that is irrelevant at the moment."

Sam then saw Wanda get up.

"You will not lock us up !"

Sam braced himself for the red mist to come....but it didn't."

"What ?"

"You really think we are stupid ?" Bruce growled. Sam feared that the Hulk could come out. "News flash Maximoff. You are not that special. Vision and Doctor Strange managed to block your powers. And once you are found guilty, you will be stripped from them, forever."

"NO, YOU CAN'T DO THAT !"

Bruce didn't allow her to continue. He shot her with a tranq dart. Wanda fell once again. Sam saw the hate on his eyes. Why did Bruce hate Wanda so much ?

"Bruce, what are you doing ! !" Steve yelled. "The accords..."

"Shut up Steve. You ignorant asshole. I am very much in agreement with the accords."

"Bruce..." Natasha started. But Bruce didn't allow her to speak, tranquing her as well.

NAT !" Steve tried to break the bars. Bad idea.

Sharon shot him with three darts, Steve was out as well.

She then shot Clint, who wasn't going to make things easy, and pointed her gun at Sam.

Sam quickly raised his arms. Showing that he had no intention of resisting.

As he was handcuffed, all Sam could think was...

"What have we done ?"

Steve woke up in another cell.

This one had a glass window and three walls. He could see Natasha and Wanda sleeping, and Sam sitting on his bunk. But there was no sign of Clint. Had they killed him ? Dam it, he knew the accords people were going to do this. Why did the world refused to listen ?

"Sam, Sam are you ok ?"

"I'm fine Steve."

"We have to escape, Clint..."

"He is on the cell besides you Steve. He is fine."

Steve relaxed a bit. But they still had to escape. They had done nothing wrong, they couldn't be impressioned.

Steve slammed his fist on the glass. His Captain America strength should be able to break it.

But the glass didn't even budge.

Steve was not going to give up. He tried to smash the glass repetitively but there was not even a crack.

"Mr. Rogers." FRIDAY said suddenly. "Please calm down, or I will shoot." Steve noticed how a gun was pointed at him. Though he could tell it was a taser and not an actual gun.

"What, FRIDAY ! Call Tony this instant. This is getting beyond...."

FRIDAY instead fired a warning shot.

"Calm yourself, now."

"Steve !" Sam yelled. "For god's sake please calm down. Don't make things any worst !"

What...no, is Sam giving up ? Why ?

Netherless. Steve stood down. For now. Once his team is back up, he will start planning their escape.

He will not allow the accords to win.

FRIDAY got the message and took the taser away.

"Sam why are you..."

"Steve. It's over ok. We got caught. This is not a situation you can fight your way out of. Just calm down and follow the rules. Do no make things worst for the rest of us."

"But Sam. They got no right to lock us up, we are heroes !"

Sam just shook his head and layed on his bunk.

Steve sighted. Sam was probably just stressed. He needed some moments to calm down.

Steve spent the moment analizing his surrenders. He had to find a way out.

But this place...he couldn't find one. No....Steve wasn't gonna give up. He would never back up from bullies.

Soon after, the others woke up.

"Guys, are you all ok ?"

"Where are we ?" Natasha questioned.

"Where else Nat. We are in fucking prison." Clint groaned. "Now this assholes aren't going to let me see my wife and kids. YOU HEAR THAT STARK, YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE !"

Steve agreed. Tony had gone too far. now. He was willing to give him another chance. But with this. Steve will have to make sure he only sticks to financial support and gives the Iron Man suit to a more trustworthy person.

"Steve !" Wanda yelled. "Steve you have to help me ! They blocked my powers !"

"What !" They couldnt do that. Wanda's powers could not be taken away from her ! She's a hero ! "Don't worry Wanda. I will get you out."

"I would advice against making false promises Mr. Rogers." A new voice said. One that got Steve, Natasha, and Clint very quiet.

"Phil." Clint mumbled.

An alive Phil Coulson walked into the room.

"You are alive." Natasha whispered.

"Thank Fury and Hill for that. Though trust me, it was not nice returning. But that's enough about me." Coulson looked straight at Steve. "Hmph. I will never be more ashamed than I am right now. I wish I was never a Captain America fan."

No...Coulson couldn't be saying that. He had to be on their side, right ?

"Coulson what...."

"Let's make some things clear. I am NOT in your side. I, as well as the new SHIELD, are in much favor of them. So if you are expecting me to come here and break you out. Well I am not sorry to disappoint you."

"You...you can't leave us here." Clint said slowly.

"And I won't. Once you are found guilty in court. You are going to the Raft."

No. Steve and his team weren't going to go there. They are heroes, not criminals.

"Where are we ?" Natasha asked. "Is this the compound."

"My my. It seems that you all haven't been keeping up with the news. I am not suprised though. The Avengers compound is no more. S.I demolished it 2 months after the Civil War. In that place, now seats a very impressive aquarium."

"What !" Steve yelled outraged. "Tony couldn't do that. The compound is our home !" He couldn't believe it. Was Tony really this petty.

"The building is his. He could do what he pleased. Now it houses many sea animals that can't live in the wild anymore, and needed help to continue on. But that's not the point."

"Look Coulson." Steve calmed himself. This is not Coulson's fault. He is been manipulated shortly. "This is a mistake we..."

"I don't believe it is."

"The accords..."

"Come on Mr. Rogers. We know you didn't even read them."

"They are full of red tape..."

"That is clearly needed to control you. Because the world now knows what happens when you aren't controlled."

"We are..."

"In big trouble, yes I agree."

"We have to stop..."

"No one, We stopped you already. Oh and way to go everyone. The chaos you created in Colombia made things even worst for you."

"We went to stop terrorists..."

"Yet you decided to fight the police. That man you fought before Tony and Hulk showed up. That was a policemen, that you killed."

That left Steve speechless. No...that man was a criminal, he was sure of it. He couldnt be a policemen.

"You....you can't arrest us."

"And why is that ?"

"Because you need us." Natasha said. "The world needs the Avengers."

"Hpmh. Is that true. Tell me Romanoff, what do you all have that is special ? Why do we need you ? There are better spies than you. Remember Melinda May, the one woman you were never able to defeat, she's still around. And there's also a new spy, Daisy Johnson, who did in fact defeat May. There's Sharon of course, as well as Bobbi Morse, Elena Rodriguez, and those are just the ones in the tip of my tongue. All of them, are better than you. Both in skill, as well as morals. And if we needed a Black Widow, well I'll let you find out about that one on your own. What else. An archer, can get that in a snap. A witch ? Doctor Strange has a full order of sorcerers with more power and experience than Maximoff, and Thor knows some mages of his own that are more trustworthy than a witch that worked for Hydra. And Captain America ? What is so special of him ? He punches hard ? The world now has the Hulk, Thor, and Captain Marvel, who punch a lot harder, yet are able to keep their strength in check. Oh and let's not forget about Iron Man, War Machine, Vision, the Valkyrie, all of them stronger than Captain America. Hell, even Agent Johnson, who is enhanced, would bring Rogers down. If anything he is the least special of all of you."

Phil got close to Nat's face.

"So tell me Romanoff. Why are you needed ?"

Natasha remained quiet.

"Thought so. You are not. It might have worked out for you before, but it won't again. Oh and by the way. You and Rogers are going to REGRET the info dump. That, I can promise you."

Steve noticed how Phil got very angry at the mention of that. But it was the right thing to do....

But all Steve could think about was how his once greatest fan, now is calling him not important. That he is not special.

No....Steve is special. He was given his powers because he is a good man. The...the world had to know that. They knew Captain America is their hero.

"Hmph." Coulson started moving away. "I believe in heroes. I believe in the Avengers. But people like you, make that hard to do. People that think they are heroes that are actually selfish bastards that only care for themselves. Well, at least we now all know, you aren't heroes."

"We are heroes." Steve said firmly. "We did the right thing. We tried to save the world." And they were going to save it from the accords. Steve is sure of it.

"No Rogers. All you did, is try to safe Bucky Barnes. The only person you truly care about."

Coulson turned around.

"Well. I gotta go now. This is probably the last time we are going to talk. I got things to do, a SHIELD to run, and make sure the courts are safe from you all. Though do the world a favor and just plead guilty."

"Dam it Coulson. You can't leave us here ! " Clint yelled. "I want to talk to Laura !"

"Should have thought of that before you abandoned her and the kids. She has a new life now Clint, a new home, new job...a new partner even. The divorce papers will arrive soon."

"NO, SHE CAN'T DO THAT !" Clint yelled.

"She can and she did it. That's what you get for leaving him, for showing to her that these people are more important to you." Coulson started to leave. "I wish you at least do the right thing now that you are caught, but I got no hopes about that. Enjoy prison. Heard the raft makes some good pasta."

With that, Coulson left.

Steve shook his head. All of the things he said...they can't be true. Steve and his team are heroes.

"Guys don't listen to him !" Steve said with full conviction. "We are not going to prison. We are not criminals. We are heroes, the Avengers, and soon the world will open their eyes, we will get out of this one and defeat the accords."

No one responded.

Steve sighted and sat down.

He is sure things are going to get better. It's just a matter of time before they do. He is Captain America, and he won't be defeated by this paper pushers and wanna be heroes.

They have always won, and they will win again. It always works out in the end.

Right ?

Tony finally got some rest.

He had been 7 hours in Bogota. Dealing with the Colombian government and assuring them that the Rouges would pay for what they had done. As well as setting up the aid the Maria Stark Foundation would give the injured. On the bright side, a friendly senator recommended him and Carol a local restaurant that was absolutely delicious. Before finally getting into a hotel and rest.

Only they remained in Colombia. The rest of the team had to return to the States, to either prepare for the trials, and watch the idiots so that they didn't do nothing stupid.

FRIDAY showed them Phil's conversation with them. Wilson has fully grassped the situation, while the others are in between. And there's Rogers, who somehow still denies that he did anything wrong.

He barely reacted when he was informed that he killed a police officer by beating him up. And the man doesn't know his daughter was there, watching Captain America kill her father.

That girl is going to need help, and Tony already made sure she gets it. Thor stayed with her for a while before he had to return to New Asgard. The girl was a huge Thor fan, and being with her actual hero seemed to ease the pain a bit of watching her father be murdereed.

But of course, that pain will never go away. Tony knows how it feels, and he only watched it in a video. It must be a lot worst to see it in person, and be a kid for god's sake.

"Yes...yes thank you Rhodey. See you tomorrow, good night."

Carol threw the phone and layed besides him.

"So, what is the final report of the day."

"The security measures for the meetings with the lawyers are set. The preparations for the trials are going well, and Jeniffer has already made a huge progress on the cases against them. Only Wilson has a lawyer now, the rest are still being searched for. As for the idiots, they have calmed down....well Rogers is tased though."

"Really, what did the idiot do ?"

"He ignored the warning and tried to break the glass, so FIRDAY shocked him. Honestly, Wilson, Barton, and Romanoff even looked grateful at that."

Hah. That glass is Hulk proof, tested by the Hulk (willingly) himself. There is no way Steve will get out of that cell.

"Jennifer is also working on who to bring to testify. Rhodey, Thor, and Bruce already agreed to. So has King T’Challa. May will talk as Peter's representative, and she is trying to get Scott Lang to come to New York so he can testify against them as well. Are you sure you want to do it as well, T'Challa can talk about Siberia."

"He was only there at the end. I must do this. I will not allow Rogers to walk over me no more."

"Good. I know you won't." She kissed his cheek. "Now to talk about more amicable things."

"I swear Daisy and you get in more dramas than I could have imagined."

"Ehem, like you and Peter don't get in crazy things as well. Shall I remind you of the Vulture ? But that's not in. SHIELD got a new asset, her name is Ruby Hale, forced into Hydra by her mother."

"And..."

"Daisy is so pinning after her, it's kinda annoying."

"I really got no advice for her on that."

Bucky....no, James. James watched the news in horror.

He was no longer in cyro, but still going on treatment.

He could not believe what he had seen, Steve....Steve what the hell had he done !

James watched in horror as Steve beated up a police man, and killed him. It was even more horrifying when the news said the man's daughter watched everything.

"None of this is your fault James." Shuri said kindly. "That man." She said that very disgusted. "Made his own choices, to fulfill his delusions."

He knows he didn't make Steve do that. But the guilt was still there. Steve had done those things...for him. Even if James never asked him to do it. He had done it all on his name.

James knows he himself will have to face trial once he is cured. That was the condition T'Challa gave him, and James fully agreed with it. Even if the Wakandian royal family was so sure he would not be found guilty for his crimes as the Winter Soldier, he still did bad things, and is willing to face the consequences.

"Come on, let's continue the treatment." Shuri said.

James nodded and turned off the TV.

Steve needs to understand something. Bucky is gone, and he is not going to come back. James is a new person now.

And so is Steve Rogers, as this is not the little Stevie that he loved in the 40s. They had both become different men.

And so the end of the line had come.

Chapter Text

Ever since the Ultron disaster, Thor had done a lot of self reflection.

He had come to the conclusion that his father wasn't the man he aspired to be, but rather someone who let his ego and his mistakes consume him. Making more damage than good.

The moment he choked a friend, that's when Thor realized, he is not the man he wants to be. And as he looked back, he felt more ashamed of himself.

Tony had no right to forgive him, yet he had. Thor should have never done that. Specially when he realized Ultron wasn't his or Bruce's fault. If anything, Thor should have warned them of what the Mind Stone could do.

That's why he told Steve his disapproval of adding Maximoff to the team, before he left to search for the Infinity Stones.

Tony had told them something bigger was coming, and Thor had agreed on that possibility. A invasion like that, usually lead to a bigger one. Not only that, Thor was starting to believe Loki had not been the one responsible for it. When he got that vision, and saw the gauntlet forming, Thor knew it. Someone was pulling the strings all this time.

That's why he left to search the cosmos, and found out about him. Thanos.

The true master mind of the New York invasion, the one that sought the Infinity Stones to bring ruin.

Of course, before he could warn everyone, the whole thing with Hela happened.

Finding out that Loki is alive made him incredibly happy, even if his worry for his father didn't allow him to show it. Thor is also suprised how quickly he got over Odin's death, but that's mostly due to realizing that his father is not the man Thor thought he was.

The whole thing in Sakaar was quite and adventure, reuniting with Bruce and meeting Valkyrie. It reminded him of the Warriors 3 and Sif before they had a disagreement. And the formers were dead and he has no idea where Sif is right now. Thor actually , didn't miss her.

Getting to fight side by side with Loki again, it was something he dreamt of happening as well. At that point, Thor knew he was to blame as much as Loki (maybe more) for how their relationship soured.

So after Hela was defeated, and Asgard was destroyed (the place, not the people) he confronted his brother, and apologized for all of his past mistakes. Loki confirmed that he had no will of his own during the invasion, and Thor had enough evidence from his travels to proof it.

When they arrived on Earth, Thor was ready to show the world the new man he had become. Not one that fought at the first sign, but rather a man that thought things threw, and looked for all options.

That's one of the reasons he accepted immediately the accords when the Avengers presented it. In the past, Thor might have thought they weren't necessary, but now he knew they were, and he signed without objections.

He himself made him a reserve member, he is King of Asgard now, and he will take that role seriously. He knew Valkyrie would supply the Avengers with her strength when he can't be there.

Thor had been suprised when he heard of the so called Civil War, but thinking about it. He wasn't suprised. Despite being similar, and having good times together, Thor never quite liked Steve Rogers all that much. That's why he had been so shocked when the man almost moved his hammer, but then again, Hela used to weld it, so Thor doesn't believe in the worthy thing anymore. Loki later informed him that during his time as Odin, he learned that the hammer could be carried by those with a very strong will, and not those who were, pure. It made sense now.

Thor knew Steve had trouble accepting that others gave him orders, Thor himself was like that, but unlike Thor, Steve never self reflected and changed.

So when Earth had enough of that, and tried to tell him that he had to stand down, Thor can't be that suprised that Steve chose to do what he did. It's his way or the highway after all.

When Thor learned of the truth of Siberia, on Steve's lie, he had been horrified and so angry. He had watched his mother, who was a great person and the one he and Loki look up to, die in front of him. He understood that pain very well, and knew he wouls have reacted the same if Steve had lied to him like that, anyone would.

But the fact that later Steve chose to beat up and almost kill Tony. It really showed Thor what kind of a man he really was. The kind of man Thor could have become if he hadn't decided to change.

Of course, Thor couldn't focus on that at the moment. His people needed him, and the Avengers had other matters to attend too. They had to prepare for Thanos' arrival.

Though he counted himself lucky that he was visiting New York when the Rouges were spotted. So he could watch with his own eyes that they were captured.

Yet, somehow Thor didn't feel satisfied. He looked at the footage of the cells, and saw that most of them still believe that they were right. That they refused to acknowledge that they were wrong.

He then suspected a little detail. And he asked FRIDAY, who later confirmed it.

Steve had lied once again, and told them lies about the whole Siberia ordeal.

So that moment, is when Thor decided to do what a good man, a good friend, would do. His friends' honor was been tainted by the man that almost killed him, a man willing to lie to make himself look good.

Steve will have to learn the time for that is over, and that a lie always brings more trouble in the end. Even if the rouges weren't heroes or even good people, they deserved to know the truth. Tony deserves that even they know who was really the one that lied to them.

So he came to the tower to speak to them. He met Bruce and Valkyrie there (they were a nice couple, Thor can see how much healthier that relationship is from the one with Romanoff.) and Bruce agreed to come with him. He too had some things to say.

Of course, they are both gonna testify in the trials against Rogers, Romanoff, Barton, and Maximoff (they barely knew Wilson, and from what it looks like he is probably going to plead guilty anyway) but that won't allow them to speak to them directly.

This time, Thor can tell them directly what he thinks. He can be the friend that comes out to defend another when they needed.

It's time to show the man he has become once again.

Bruce had wanted to confront Rogers for quite sometime, but he didn't want to go alone.

Of course, Val could come with him (she wanted to have words with Romanoff) but she was asked not to.

As they didn't know them and weren't here for the whole ordeal. Val, Carol, and Stephen were selected to be the ones to escort the Rouges to meet their lawyers and to the trial itself. So the accords panel asked them to remain impartial for the moment.

Bruce certainly understood. So when Thor came in with the same intention Bruce knew he had a chance.

He hasn't been the best friend to Tony. He will always be ashamed of falling asleep when he confided him about his troubles, or not coming out on his immediate defense when the others accused him of creating Ultron.

And while, Bruce hadn't been able to return sooner, he wondered if he would have returned if he could. Thought Tony told him not to mind that, after all, it's thanks to Sakaar that Val came to his life. Even after everything, Tony is still a good friend, he even got rid of Ross for god's sake, and Bruce hated that man more than anyone.

This time though, Bruce was going to be the friend he should have been in the beginning. It why he asked Tony to hire Jen, not only is she a great lawyer, she can be vicious against criminals, and she will make sure they get justice. But also, why he is heading down to speak to the Rouges right now.

There is no more running away for him. This time, he will face problems head on.

He and Thor finally reached the room where the Rouges were. Steve stood up as soon as he saw them.

"Thor ! Bruce !" Steve said exited. Bruce saw the hopeful smile, he's probably thinking he will explain everything to them and they will help him. Well too bad they aren't interested on Steve's explanation.

"Rogers." Thor greeted him.

Bruce noticed that Natasha observed them.

"What are you doing here ?"

"We came too...talk to you about somethings." Bruce started. That woman had....Bruce can't believe he had actually fallen in love with her. What is wrong with him.

"Thor, Bruce. Let me explain." Steve started. "The accords are dangerous, you..."

"Did you read the accords Steve ?" Bruce asked him. Already knowing the anwser. "We read them, from beginning to end, and we fully agree with them."

"They are just trying to put on us on a leash, to become attack dogs for the government !"

"Oh my god. You are so delusional. The UN is not a government Steve ! And stop talking shit about something you didn't read !" Why did SHIELD think this man was fit for the Avengers, to lead them nonetheless !

"You know." Thor started. "Things like this aren't unusual in other planets. Many worlds restrict and control what enhanced can do. As Prince I too couldn't act like I wanted."

"You don't understand." Steve said. "The best hands are our own."

"Hmph. You clearly showed the opposite."

Thor stood forward towards Steve's cell.

"I never had the highest opinion of you Steve. But I never imagined you were a liar."

Bruce saw with satisfaction as Steve's face got pale.

"What are you talking about ?" Sam asked.

"Hm. What did the Captain tell you about Siberia Mr. Wilson ?" Bruce asked.

"Hmp. Stark betrayed Steve and attacked him and Barnes for no reason." Clint growled. "What a surprise, Stark is a traitor. I don't know why you fell for it."

"Oh really, is that what happened. Steve ?" Thor asked him. "Because we got a very different version. We saw it actually."

Steve started getting agitated.

"You...saw it."

"Yes Steve." Bruce said. "And you know why. FRIDAY, show them the footage of Siberia. We got Tony's permission, and the world will soon see it."

"NO, IT WASN'T BUCKY !" Steve yelled suddenly. "YOU CAN'T DO IT !"

But FRIDAY, also looking for revenge, didn't listen to him, and showed the Rouges.

Bruce watched each one of them react to it.

Maximoff didn't react, of course she didn't. She is crazy after all. Sam and Clint got pale and watched in pure horror. The former looking at Steve horrified time to time. Natasha looked more calm, but even she was unable to hide the flinches from the video.

Steve....Steve looked suprised. Like he wasn't there before. Or maybe he is just worried what this will mean for the man he cares about so much, he almost killed Tony for.

"HOW DARE YOU !" Thor finally screamed, after the video was over. "HOW DARE YOU ROGERS ! THEY WERE HIS PARENTS ! YOU HAD NO RIGHT TO KEEP THAT FROM HIM !"

"I...."

"And then you attacked him ! For what ? Reacting, because grief came to him ? Should I remind you that I too know what is like to watch a parent die. I killed the one that did it after I saw it, Loki would have as well if he was in the room. Why did Tony have to react different."

"I...I had to protect Bucky. Tony would have hurt him if he learned the truth. I did the right thing, and the video shows it."

"Really, then why did Tony punched you first ? And only attacked Barnes when he pointed a gun at his face ?" Bruce asked.

"Bucky and I where only defending ourselves !" Steve looked at his team desperately, but he found no support.

"That is not self defense Steve !" Bruce said. "If anything Tony had to defend himself when you chose to gang up on him. If he wanted to seriously hurt you, he has tons of missiles ready to shoot at you, yet strangely he never actually used them. He was pretty dam restrained, unlike you."

"Yet, you decided to attack him with all of your strength, ram the shield on his already weak chest, and LEFT HIM THERE TO DIE !" Thor yelled that last part.

"I...Tony talked...I thought he was fine."

"Fine, FINE !" Bruce screamed, making everyone but Thor step back in fear. "Tony was in a coma for two weeks ! His heart stopped twice ! If it' wasn't for T'Challa, who thank god didn't believe you when you told him he was cooling off, Tony would be DEAD. Do you hear that Steve, you could have easily killed Tony."

Steve shook his head, like he is trying to deny it, but with little success.

"But it was worth it for you." Bruce continued. "Because you saved Barnes. Becasue all of this, wasn't for the accords, it was for Barnes. Becasue you had to make sure he was perfectly save, no matter what, or who, had to pay the price."

Thor started to laugh. "And now look at all of you." He talked to the rest. "You really believe that this man cares about you ? For now he does, but how long until you get into his precious Bucky Barnes. Tony Stark was the first victim for that, and he barely escaped with his life. Who knows who will be the next, and if they will be lucky to escape."

Bruce saw how realization filled their faces. Too bad, it was too late.

"No that's not true." Steve said slowly. "I...I had to protect Bucky."

"And screw everyone else on your way right ?" Thor growled. "You are no hero Rogers, just a selfish man that had to have his way and nothing else. Well, the world is no longer going to tolerate that."

"I hope you all feel proud of yourselfs." Bruce told them. "You gave up your freedoms, your life, for a man that in the end, only cares about what he wants, and Bucky Barnes."

Bruce looked at the others and spotted Natasha.

"And you." He turned to her. "I trusted you, and I believed that you wanted to make amends. But you can't take the Red Room out of the Black Widow. Well, that might be wrong. I heard Coulson is trying to make better efforts to redeem your sister. I hope she does get her chance. Becasue you clearly didn't want it."

"Bruce..."

"Oh and by the way. I am seeing someone else now. And unlike you, she gets me and the Hulk. I think you might meet her, as she might escort you to trial."

Bruce left her behind quickly. He then turned to Wanda.

"As for you. All I can say is, rot in hell Maximoff. All of those people you killed, what you did to me, to Tony. We will all finally have justice. I will never understand why Rogers thought it was a good idea to include you on the team."

"Are you threatening me ?"

"Hum. Hell yes I am. I suggest you stay quiet, before Hulk makes his own threat."

"Leave her alone Bruce, she is a kid !" Steve yelled.

"A kid ? Rogers she is 25 fucking years old. She is not a kid !" Thor yelled. "I told you about my objections of adding her, yet you didn't listen to me right ? Probably wanted to use her as a trial run for Barnes. Because once again, that's all you care about."

Bruce shook his head. It was time to go.

"Well, we will see you all in court. Enjoy prison."

"If you still think that there is going to be a pardon or anything that can help you escape. Stop deluding yourselfs. The time has come for all of you, to face consequences."

Thor and Bruce left after that. Hearing Rogers starting to make excuses as they left.

Both felt pretty good about themselves.

Sam knew it now. That he had majorly fucked up.

That video, what Steve did...oh god. He made Stark go on a two week coma ? His supposed teammate.

At first, Steve tried to make excuses and explain why he was right to do what he did, but he didn't want to hear it. There was no justification for that. When it was getting really annoying, Clint asked FRIDAY to mute Steve, and Sam is grateful that she did. He wouldn't be able to stomach anymore of Steve's excuses.

Alone with his thoughts, he realized Thor and Banner were absolutely right. Steve...he is not the man Sam thought he was. He only cared about Barnes.

Steve almost killed Tony Stark because he stood against what Steve wanted. He left him to die. Wasn't Steve part of the military, what happened to, no man left behind ?

But he could not blame all of it on Steve. Sam made his choices willingly, and now, he has to pay for it. They said the time of running was over, well Sam has no intention of running anymore.

When he was called to meet his lawyer, he knew what he had to do.

Normal guards came in and took him to the meeting room. Sam didn't know what to feel when a non avengers escorted him.

He ignored Steve's calls as he was lead away.

On the meeting room, he saw his lawyer. A asian man with black hair, and blue eyes. He smiled kindly at Sam and shook his hand.

"Hello Mr. Wilson. My name is Eric Tao, I will be your lawyer for the upcoming trial."

Sam nodded at him, and sat down.

"Now, you are in quite a bit of trouble Sam."

"I know...oh god I know."

"The charges are quite the severe ones."

"I know...Look Mr. Tao. I already made my mind. I will plead guilty to everything. I can't deny it, and I don't want to even try to defend what I clearly did."

Tao nodded at him.

"I see. Well I believe you are making the correct choice Sam. It will be easer for you, and for everyone, if we skip the trial. And the court can take into account the regret you feel. You should know, that out of all of them, you have the least amount of charges. I believe I can make a deal with the prosecution on a more reduced sentence."

Hmph, it's not like Sam deserved that. He had made many mistakes, and innocent people payed the price.

And all for hero worship. All for a man that truly didn't care for him, or anyone that wasn't Bucky Barnes.

"Of course, this probably means you will have to testify against the others. Are you ok with this ?"

"Yes." Sam said quickly, not hesitating. "I...I own them nothing, specially Steve. He lied to me and......I want to help people get justice, in anyway I can."

Sam felt sick, remembering all of the trips to search for Barnes, now that he knew what Steve knew. That was Tony's money, and resources, and Steve never even told him about that.

He could have never imagined that Steve was so selfish, but there is no more denial now. Sam will pay for what he did, and since Steve clearly didn't care for him, why should Sam be loyal to him ?

Clint had been quiet after the revelation.

He had ranted, and blamed Stark for betraying them, for taking his family away from him. Only to learn that the true traitor, is on the cell besides him.

Clint is not emotionless. He felt Stark's pain on the video of Siberia. If that had been him, and Laura and the kids where the ones being killed, he would have shot Steve and Barnes without hesitation.

The asshole tried to justify what he did, to justify the lies he had told them, so Clint practically begged FRIDAY to shut him up.

After that, Clint decided to change plans. He wanted to brinf down Stark and expose for what the man truly was. Now though, now he knows Stark isn't really the one that took his family. It was Steve. So, Clint was going to make sure Steve went down, and that he gets back to his family.

Coulson said that Laura had moved on from him that...that she was seeing someone else now...but he knows he can get her to love him again. He just has to show him Steve manipulated him.

Though in his heart...he knew it wouldn't work.

He was called after Sam to meet his lawyer. A man with grey hair, who looks like has been in the business for ages.

"Hello Mr. Barton, please take a seat."

Clint groaned a bit, and sat dawn. He always hated lawyers, and now has to rely on one.

"My name is Chet Borker, I'll be your lawyer for the upcoming trial. Now how do we work on your defense."

"Hmph. It's not like I didn't do it wouls work ? What's the point if they think I am guilty."

"Mr. Barton this is happening because the is enough evidence to proof you are guilty. Now, my advice is to plead guilty."

"And what will that do for me ?"

"Reduced sentence, skip the trial part. The charges are serious Mr. Barton. You are not getting out of this one."

Yeah he knows that, thanks to fucking Steve Rogers.

"I got very little to work on here Mr. Barton. I suggest you think about it."

"Steve was in command, I only followed orders."

"Yes, that might get you a bit, just a very bit safer than what Mr. Rogers is going to face. But it's not an excuse. Unless did he force you to cooperate, did he threaten you ?"

"He....No. He didn't."

"Then that will not be an excuse Mr. Barton. I need you to get past what you think of Mr. Rogers, Dr. Stark or anyone else, and focus on yourself. Your fate is on your hands now."

Yesterday had been an...interesting day for Wanda.

Thor and Banner coming in made her feel.....many different things.

Wanda hated Stark, she despised him for what he did to her and her brother, for Ultron, and....just for everything.

But, she did feel for him. She actually felt bad for him in that video. That pain...she knew it very well.

Steve had used her. She soon realized that. Steve had used her as a trial run for Barnes. Who would have known that Steve is more selfish that Stark.

Except....she should have known, didn't she ? After all, she saw their nightmares. Steve's nightmare was about himself...Stark's was about seeing his friends die.

Wanda didn't deserve to be locked down, and she thought the same for the others...but now she can't deny, Steve is right where he should be.

She trusted him so much, and this, locking them up for that man, is what they get.

Screw Steve then, Wanda could only rely on herself now. So screw that delusional man, let him rot.

Wanda was soon taken to meet her lawyer. An african american woman with brown eyes, and a...calm, presence around her.

"Hello Ms. Maximoff. My name is Astrid Lucca. I will represent you on the trial."

They sat down.

"Now Ms. Maximoff, you are in quite trouble here."

"Don't tell me." She said sarcastically.

"That attitude won't help you. You have....very severe crimes Wanda. If we go to trial the outcome could be life or even death."

Death....she should be afraid. But...she isn't. Not after yesterday.

That video and learning the truth behind Steve. It...it changed things for her. Wanda wanted revenge, now she doesn't care about what happens.

She just wants all of it to be over.

"Ms. Maximoff....Wanda, are you listening ?"

"I am I just....I don't know what to do."

For the first time in many years, Wanda felt lost.

Natasha had always had a feeling that Steve wasn't entirely truthful about Siberia.

He knew that, Tony blindly attacked us, wasn't the entire truth. She knew that wasn't Tony's style. There was more to the story and she knew it.

She however, never imagined that it could end like this. That THAT had happened.

And she is not stupid. She knows Tony knows she knew of Barnes as well, and never told him.

She had been so stupid, why did she change sides with Steve.

She should have known that the Captain America name had limits, and now, she is stuck with him once the limit was reached.

It's clear what she needs to do. Steve is gonna go down on flames. It's over for him, and for the old Avengers that she enjoyed.

She has to play her cards to get her the best deal out there. It's her only hope.

She has to get herself out of here.

She walked to the room and saw her lawyer. A female with brown long strong legs, she probably swims. She has a bracelet with the colors of the lesbian flag, so maybe Natasha could use a bit of manipulation.

She also noticed her escort. The woman that had come with Thor and Bruce, who glared at her with such hatred.....why did she hate her so much ?

"Ms. Romanoff." The woman greeted. "My name is Amanda Pucket, I am going to be your lawyer for the procedure."

"Don't I get a phone call ?"

"This case is different than usual Ms. Romanoff. Whoever you want me to contact, I will gladly do so. Please take a seat."

Natasha started a bit, and sat down.

"Now Ms. Romanoff. The charges against you are....immense to say the least. Out of everyone you hold the second biggest amount of charges after Mr. Rogers."

"What ? I wasn't that involved on the whole...Civil War thing." She had been with Stark for most of it.

"That's true. However, you did assault King T'Challa, and betray your teammates, which resulted on the accident that lead to Colonel Rhodes' injury. Of course, you where with Mr. Rogers and the rest for the disaster in Colombia, and we can't forget, which is clearly the biggest charge, the info dump."

"What !" They....they can't be charging her for that now, right ?

"Ms. Romanoff the crimes you are been charged with are not just for the Civil War and the Colombia disaster. It goes before that."

"But the senate...wasn't I cleared ?"

"From what I understand, Dr. Stark made sure you weren't prosecuted, but the Civil War made the US government reopen the charges against you for that. After all, there is no time limit for a murder charge, and the info dump resulted in many deaths."

Dam it...the situation is much worst than she thought.

"Of course, there are some other independent charges as well. Dr. Bruce Banner is charging you for assault, and Dr. Tony Stark for obstruction of justice in the matter of concealing the deaths of Howard and Maria Stark."

Shit...she had no idea it was this bad.

"I am sure I can make a deal."

"If you mean a guilty plea, I could try of course."

"What about working it of ? I could be useful."

"That will not fly Ms. Romanoff. There is an abundance of spies since the New SHIELD was established. Besides it would make no point of leaving you go to commit more crimes."

Dam it. How...how did she miscalculate so badly.

"I have information. On Rogers specifically."

"Now that could be worked with. However it will not free you from this."

It was a start. Natasha was not going to go down for the very.....stupid mistake she did.

If Steve had to go down, well, he made his own grave thanks to his obsession with Barnes.

After all, that's all he cares about, so why Natasha should care about him ?

Steve couldn't believe this was all happening.

After the video was played and Thor and Bruce left (they clearly sided with Tony) Steve had tried to explain to his team why he did what he did. He had to protect Bucky, why couldn't no one see that !

Yet, his team refused to listen to him. After many attempts, Clint told FRIDAY to mute him, and since they didn't appear to be hearing him, Steve assumed she did it.

He just can't believe that...that this is happening. He hadn't hurt Tony that badly...he couldn't have sent him to a coma. No...it had to be a play or a misunderstanding.

Maybe Steve did react wrong on that situation. He already knew he should have told Tony before hand. But it was nothing that an apology couldn't fix. After all Steve is willing to forgive Tony for his mistakes, why can't Steve be forgiven for his.

He tried discussing escape plans with the team, but either he was still muted, or they just ignored him. He didn't know which one he preferred.

Steve can't just believe that...that all of this is simply happening. How is the world falling for the accords. Why can't they see that they are dangerous. Steve wanted the best for them..

It mattered not. No one listens to him now. Steve felt lonely.

But he couldn't give up. He was going to proof...to proof that he did the best he could have done.

He was soon taken to the meeting room to see his lawyer. The so called new Captain of the Avengers (Steve is not sure she is an actual Captain) Carol Danvers was his escort.

"Make any move, and you are going down."

Steve wanted to proof her wrong...but he understood that for now he had to cooperate (he had been unable to see any escape routes after all) and allowed himself to be taken.

He met his lawyer on the room. A blond haired woman with green eyes, dressed in a fancy suit. Her hair had a blue strand.

"Mr. Rogers, my name is Nicole Worginton, please take a seat."

"Ms. Worginton, it's Captain by the way."

"Not from the records Mr. Rogers. The military said that your title is honorary and not real."

What ! No that can't be true. It must be another manipulation of the accords.

"And besides that, you, along side Mr. Wilson and Mr. Barnes, have been stripped of your military status and dishonorably discharged. Now take a seat."

Steve shook his head in disbleaf and sat down. Danvers stayed on the wall.

"Captain Danvers will remain here for safety concerns. Make any move and she has all authorization to act."

"Is this necessary, did the others face this ?"

"Mr. Rogers. So far you are the only one that has attempted to break out, twice. So yes, it is necessary."

Nicole ignored him and opened the files.

"Now Mr.Rogers, I am sure you understand the grave severity of the situation you are facing. You got so many crimes....my immediate advice to you, is that you plead guilty."

"No." Steve said surely. He is not guilty...he...he acted like a hero. He was not going down without a fight.

"Mr. Rogers. While I can't force you to do it. I advice you greatly to do this. You are been charged by 10 countries, and many many individuals and organizations."

"But...no. You are supposed to help me get out of this, right ?"

"Mr. Rogers. I am a lawyer, not a witch. You are not getting out of this one scott free. Their is photographic and video evidence that proofs most of your crimes, and there are records for those who don't have either of those two. There is no way you will leave the court free. As your lawyer, I am here to help you get the best possible outcome, and from my many years of experience, pleading guilty is your best choice."

No, Steve can't do that ! Pleading guilty would be admitting defeat, backing down from the fight. Steve doesn't back down from a fight, nor will be back down from the bullies of the accords. He will fight, and win this. He will show everyone that Captain America is a hero. Sure he had made some mistakes on the way, but at the end of the day. Steve acted for the best of the world.

"I won't back down from a fight."

Nicole sighed. "Mr. Rogers. This not a fight you even know how to fight. I've been on this business for 24 years now, and I am sure, going to trial will only make things worst for the victims, and specially you. If you do this, you could very well, get 40- 50 years, or even life in prison."

Steve understood (he didn't) that it looked bad. But he was going to fight it. He...he did what a hero would do.

"You don't have to decide now Mr. Rogers. You have time. As for now, we must start working on the defense. Please tell me everything."

Steve took a breath. He could explain now. Explain why everything was so wrong. Why he and his team should not be here.

"It started when Ross came in, after Lagos..." It had to be enough, He was not going down.

He would fight, and win, that's what heroes do.

Jenifer had called everyone for the meeting.

"As you know, the trials are about to start." Jenifer got her notes out. " Since he has the biggest amount of charges, the trial of Steve Rogers will start in two days from now. Natasha Romanoff's will start four days later. Barton's and Maximoff's will start the next week."

"What about Wilson ?" Rhodey asked.

"He's going to plead guilty in other to get a plea deal. He also accepted to testify against the others. His attorney Mr. Tao has already began working on the deal. I believe there won't be any problems with this."

"He has the least amount of charges. Makes sense he decided to avoid the trial. The truth of Siberia really shocked them." Bruce said.

"Yes. We also got the confirmation that Wilson, Barton, and Maximoff did no know of the deaths of the Starks before hand."

"What about the others, are they considering a plea deal ?"

"Right now. Barton and, suprisingly, Maximoff have been obedient and listened to their lawyers. While they haven't said they wish to enter a plea deal, we could think hey are considering it. Romanoff keeps trying to manipulate or gain something so that she can get free herself, but who knows how long that will last. As for Rogers, well he is decided to go on with the trial."

"He understands that life in prison is a very probable option if he goes with it ?" Vision asked.

"I don't think Rogers can think of that." Tony groaned. "He probably still thinks he can get free from all of this and back to the life he loves. Did you know those idiots didn't even know of the aquarium ?"

"I agree that Rogers' stubbornness is pretty annoying. That said it is making easer for us nailing him. That man is dangerous, unstable, and should not be out. If I can get him locked for life, then I'm going for it. If he decided to enter a plea deal (he won't) then I would not allow anything less than 40 years." Jenifer shook her head. "I'm friends with his lawyer and I feel for her. Yet she can get the job done, she's an expert on this cases."

"She's not a cap fan isn't she ?"

"Oh don't worry cus, she isn't. She's a big Iron Man and Thor fan" Thor smiled at that. "Nicole took the case because of A, someone needed to, and B, she is known for having the patience of a saint. With her, there is now way Rogers can argue he's been treated unfairly."

"I saw that." Carol said. "While guarding them on their first meeting. She never even rolled her eyes at the man. She's the right one."

"Agreed Captain. Now let's move on with the procedures of Rogers' trials. First will be the opening statements. Colonel Rhodes will be the first testimony on the next day. In accordance to his parole officer, Sam Wilson will testify that same day So will the representative for Spider Man, May Parker. The next day we got a ambassador from Nigeria, one of the survivors of the tunnel collapse in Romania, and Dr. Banner, and Scott Lang should testify on this day as well. The Vision and Thor will testify on the fourth day, as well as Helen Cho, and King T'Challa threw video call from Wakanda. Dr. Stark you will be testifying on the fifth day, as well as Dr. Palmer and a survivor from the Colombia incident. And we are going to squash more people in, as there are many, many people who want to say their peace."

"Pepper wants on it too." Tony added. "She wants to testify on all of the money he used without authorization for his search trips, as well as to buy personal stuff. The same goes for Romanoff and Maximoff."

"I'll find a slot for her."

Rhodey smiled vingative at that, Pepper is merciless when it comes to her friends, and the company. If Roger is still not afraid, he should be now.

To see so many people coming to the defense of the accords, to Tony's defense, it really showed how much the world had changed. How they were finally able to get past the pre Iron Man days.

Of course, there are some Captain America fanatics that argue for Roger's defense. Hell two days ago, a group of Cap fans tried to storm the tower to release Rogers. What a group of idiots. They didn't even get inside the tower before FRIDAY dealt with them, and now they are in jail awaiting trial. Now those idiots must not only be regretting it for their jail time, but from what Rhodey heard their spouses divorced them and they practically lost all of their family. Once again showing what happens to those who blindly think Steve Rogers is always right.

There are politicians out there of course, well, politicians in the US that also like Rogers. But they aren't stupid. They know what will happen if they defend him. The rest of the world on the other hand, they only want to see the man go down.

Jeniffer quickly ended the meeting as she had to meet with Sam's lawyer to finalize the plea deal. Rhodey had mixed feelings about Sam. On one hand, he is an absolute idiot for believing so hard on Captain America that he took his every word without thinking, and now he has to pay for that. On the other hand, Rhodey knows that in the core, Sam is a good person that truly wanted to help people. If he hadn't allowed his hero worship to take over, then he would have done that. At least he realized that now, and accepts his mistakes.

Rhodey went to his office and started looking at the security measures. Even though most of the Avengers were witnesses and in some cases, victims, of the Rouge's crimes. They had to be involved in the security to make sure nothing went bad.

As the three Avengers that had nothing to do with the Rouges. Carol, Valkyrie, and Stephen were chosen to guard a rouge. Carol would stay with Rogers all the time he was let out of the cell, to the point he was brough back. Valkyrie would do the same with Romanoff, and Stephen with Maximoff. Agent Daisy Johnson would bring Barton in to trial, as she is impartial and is (more than ) strong enough to subdue Barton if needed.

SHIELD would be securing the whole court house, and the streets where the cars will pass with the Rouges Sharon will work with Agents May and Morse on safely driving the Rouges to the court house. And if the case was deemed necessary, a chopper was ready. Agent Mackenzie is taking care of the entrance to the tower, and Director Coulson is in charge of protecting the court house. Rhodey would also protect the court house when he wasn't needed for the trial alongside Vision. The tower had FRIDAY'S protection and Thor and Hulk were nearby if there was an extreme need for them.

Tony...well Tony had enough to do with this idiots, and the team decided he would have nothing to do with it. Instead, they allowed him to do what he does best. The media. He would be ready for any kind of public announcement needed and for interviews. In fact, Tony had already secured various interviews with Christine Everhart to talk about the trials and the Avengers' thoughts on it.

He's a bit worried about the protestors. Even if 90% of them are anti Cap, they could still turn violent. Still, it could help for Rogers to finally open his eyes that the people is NOT on his side.

Satisfied with the notes and SHIELD's report, Rhodey stood up to take a bath.

Tomorrow was the beginning of the end. Rhodey hated the fact that those idiots were some roofs under him, but soon enough they will be gone. Except for Sam, they will be back on the Raft, and this time, they are not going to escape.

Steve silently finished his dinner and placed the tray on a little hole, where FRIDAY took it away.

If there is one good thing of being in here. The food is better than what they had on the run.

His trial begins tomorrow and Steve still can't believe that this is even happening. Why is this happening ? He did the right thing ! (did he ?) he wanted to save the people from the accords. He wanted to protect the Avengers from becoming attack dogs for the government. He had protected Bucky, and innocent man ! Why is he going to trial ? Why is everyone treating him like he is a bad guy ?

It was frustrating (scary) when his lawyer told him there was no escaping prison after hearing his version of the events.

"To be frank Steve. There is nothing here to defend you. The only thing I have is that you didn't intentionally want to kill any of the victims, but they are still dead by your actions.

Steve flinched at that. "But I had to do it ! I know that people died and it's a shame...but they wanted Bucky, and he's innocent !"

"Steve. Anwser me this. Is Bucky Barnes going to trial tomorrow ?"

"No but.."

"Exacly. The actions of Bucky Barnes aren't being the ones examined. He is not the one that might end up going to prison for the rest of his life. You are. Your actions are the ones that are going to be judged tomorrow. Sayaing that, it wasn't Bucky, or Bucky is innocent, that is not an excuse Steve. It will do NOTHING for your case. In the future Mr. Barnes will get his own trial date and he will get to argue for his actions. I assure you, he is in much less trouble than you are."

"But I...."

"Steve. There comes a time when you need to let go of a desperate hope and face reality. I hoped for months my husband would return after he left me one night with our daughters. I waited for him for months. But the time came I had to accept that he had left me, and now I am a single mother to my two daughter, and I have to focus on my current reality. You still cling to this idea that you will be allowed free of the courtroom, back to the Avengers, back to being Captain America, and that the world will just let go of all you did. That's not happening Steve. Your time as Captain America, as an Avenger, is over. Even if by some miracle, which it won't happen, you were not sent to jail, The army would never want to give you back the Captain America title. The Avengers would never allow you back after you assaulted some of them and even almost killed Iron Man. You still talk about a compound that no longer exists. I need you to wake up Steve and face reality. Because not only are you doing more harm to the victims by going threw this, you are making things much worst for yourself."

Steve shook his head. That...that can't be totally true right ? The people know Captain America is a hero. The Avengers know they needed him back. He had done some mistakes but...not for this.

Nicole ended their meeting by asking him once again to consider the guilty plea. But Steve can't do that. That's what villains do and Steve is not a villain !

The silence on the cell block is harsh. Not of his team spoke to him since Thor and Bruce came to show the footage of Siberia. Hell no one spoke, period. It was horrifying.

Steve had to fix it. If they were going to get out of this. If they were going to win this battle, they had to be united as a team.

"Guys." He tried again. "Listen i know you are mad. But please, just listen to me."

"Why would we ?" Clint growled. "So you can lie to us again ?" So you can somehow make things even worst for us again ?"

Steve gripped his fists. Why couldn't they get it. Why couldn't they understand that he never meant for this to happen.

"You know what Steve ?" Sam said. His tone had an anger that Steve had never heard before from him. "I think it's time for you to listen to us. So listen very well. You lied to us. You manipulated the situation so that you were seen as the good guy and no one would question you. You intentionally hid key details that changed everything !"

"Sam I..."

"Why the hell did you keep that truth from Tony. Both you and Natasha had ABSOLUTLY NO RIGHT to keep that from him. They were his parents Steve !"

"I was afraid he would attack Bucky and in Siberia..."

"Steve ANYONE would have done that. And Tony attacked YOU, the one that lied to him for two years. He only went after Barnes after the man got a gun on his face. Do you know how I feel now ? To know that I used Stark's money and recourses while searching for his parents' killer when he had no idea. I feel awful, like a scum. And that's me, someone that didn't even know about it ! Why didn't you tell me Steve, or Wanda ?"

"I...I thought you might tell Tony and...."

"Of course I would. The man deserved to know, and if you were a good person you would have told him the moment you found out ! But what did you do when he finds out ? You ALMOST KILLED HIM !"

"I didn't mean to hurt him Sam ! I just...I had to protect Bucky !"

"Oh my god will you SHUT THE FUCK UP !" Clint screamed. "It's always Bucky this, Bucky that with you. You are fucking obsessed with Barnes. Do you think that excuses anything ? I honestly wish Stark had killed him. It's what you deserve."

"Then." Sam continued as if Clint hadn't wished Bucky was dead. "To make things worst, you lie to us. You told us that Tony had randomly attacked you when you knew that wasn't the truth ! For a year and a half, you happily let us believe that Stark had betrayed you, and you never tried to come clean. Hell, if it wasn't for Thor, Banner, and FRIDAY showing us the video, you still would have not told us about it !"

"Let's not forget that he lied to T’Challa as well." Clint said. "He tried to tell him that Stark was fine and that he should leave him be. Imagine if T'Challa had listened. Stark would be dead now. Is that what you wanted Steve ? You wanted Tony dead ?"

"OF COURSE NOT !" How could Clint think that ! "I just had to stop him. He was talking, I thought he was fine !"

"YOU SMASHED A VIBRAMUM SHIELD ON HIS ALREADY WEAK CHEST ! AND I KNOW YOU KNEW OF THAT ! WHY THE FUCK DID YOU THINK HE WAS FINE !" Clint screamed. "Hmph. Then again, I don't know what to expect. After all, you don't even know what the UN is after all. Fuck you didn't even read the accords !"

"I will admit I did the same." Sam said. "But then again, maybe I would have know that they were more reasonable, if SOMEONE HADN'T LIE TO ME, AND DIDN'T TELL ME ABOUT A DEAL TONY TRIED TO MAKE !"

"Tony wanted us to sign the accords Sam. I couldn't allow it." Steve couldn't understand why they were so angry with him.

"Still, I DESERVED to know !....Tell me this Steve. If we had been pardoned, would you have ever told us the truth of Siberia, even if we were in front of Tony and probably accusing him of something he didn't do."

"I was going to I just....needed to talk to Tony first so..."

"So you could manipulate him into telling us your version is the right one, and make himself the culprit when he was the victim." Clint chuckled. "Oh god I know I have called him selfish, but you....you really give he word a new meaning."

"You know. It's kind of funny." Sam added. "You insist on proving Barnes' innocence for the things he wasn't responsible. But are more than fine allowing Tony to take the blame for something he did not do. A bit hypocrite don't you think. Then again, since he is not Bucky, you don't really care about him right ?"

Steve shook his head. He knew they were angry, but they had to get out of here first ! Why can't they see that.

"Look guys. I know you are angry and I will make it up to you, I swear. But now we need to unite as a team and..."

"A team....you really are an idiot." Wanda suddenly joined in.

"Wanda what..."

"Steve...there is no more team. It's over. Just please, accept it. There is no escape of this one."

"Wanda please, I know you are just a kid and scared but..."

"Scared ? Hell yes I am. And you know who else is scared. The world is, scared about us ! The people of Nigeria were scared, so were the people in Colombia, and the people of Sokovia were scared as well. But you don't care about that because you have no need for them. Job done, time to go home. That's your motto. Hahaha ! It's funny. I used to think Tony Stark was the monster on the Avengers. But after seeing what you did to him on Siberia, and after hearing everything...I was wrong about him. I might not like him, but now I know he is no monster. Unlike me. i am a monster, and so are you Steve. Maybe that's why we got along. We are both monsters."

"Wanda I..."

"and stop calling me a kid ! I am NOT a kid ok !"

Steve shook his head. Things were bad but he could fix them !

"Guys I..."

"No I had enough. FRIDAY can you mute him again ?" Clint asked.

Steve didn't need to ask to know he was muted.

He crossed eyes with Natasha, who hadn't spoken, and tried to beg her to help him unite the team again. But she just shook her head, and turned away.

Steve ruffled his head and sat down on his bunk.

He knows he had made (a lot) of mistakes. But he could fix them. There was no need to destroy the team and send them to prison for this.

It's clear it's up to him now. He had to fight and win the trial. It's the only way to get things back to normal.

But can they ever return to normal even ?

Sam once again walked to the meeting room. The room that constantly reminded him of who he is now. A criminal.

His talk with Steve yesterday left him more disgusted. He was so glad he wasn't going to be in his cell when Steve was taken to trial. He didn't even want to see him now.

To think Captain America is so selfish and ignorant. Sam should have known to never meet his heroes.

Or it's like they say. You either die as a hero, or live long enough to become a villain. Well Steve as it seems, has gone past the point of the former.

"Hello Sam." Eric Tao greeted him.

"Mr. Tao."

"So I finally finalized the deal with the prosecution."

Sam glupped. The time had come to learn his fate. The fate he deserved for blindly following Captain America. He had to remember that. Whatever the punishment is, he deserves it.

"The prosecution has agreed on a term of 14 years in prison, with the possibility of parole in 7 years. You will not serve them at the Raft, but at an inland prison on the United States."

14 years....oh god. 14 years in prison. That's what awaits for him.

He hadn't deluded himself that he would get off like Scott did (Sam feels he owns him an apology, they didn't tell him everything.) but 14 years....

No. It's what he deserves. He did so much wrong things and he will face the consequences for it.

"I'll take it."

Mr. Tao nodded at him. "It's the best choice Sam. A trial would do so much worst for you. Of course, part of the deal is that you must testify against Mr. Rogers and the others."

"Of course." He kinda felt bad for Nat, Clint, and Wanda. But Steve could go to hell for all he cared.

"Good. Your sentencing hearing will be on three days from now. That very same day will be the one you testify on Mr. Rogers' trial. From that days, they days you spend in the tower will count as part of your sentence, before you are transferred to where the sentence will be carried. About that. The Prosecution agreed on your demand to be close to your family, so the closest prison has been selected."

Good at least...At least Sam could have that.

But he did not know if he could face his family anyway.

"How long before I get transferred ? " At this point. All he wants is to get away from Steve, and never see him again."

"It all depends if Ms. Romanoff and Ms. Maximoff take plea deals. There is no need for you to testify against Mr. Barton. Should the two take plea deals, as soon as you testify against Mr. Rogers we can send you off. If not, you'll have to wait until their trials."

Sam sighted and nodded. It's not like he could do anything about it.

He's a criminal after all.

The time had come to get Rogers out of the cell and into the court.

Carol finished putting on her suit, and went to the lab to say goodbye.

To aovad the stress. Tony, Bruce, and Peter, were having a science day. Honestly she was more scared of finding the roof on fire than whatever Rogers could do.

The fact she is going to be in a car with Sharon at the wheel is the scariest part of the day honestly.

She entered the lab to already see Peter ready with the extintor.

"Did something already happen ?"

"Nope. Just a little precaution we are taking." Tony said. "Are you off now ?"

"Yep. Sharon's got the car ready."

"They got Sharon to drive ? You know the last time I borrowed her a car it ended under the hudson right ? What is it with super spies getting to car crashes ?"

"Ask Daisy, not me." She got close to him. "Everything is going to be alright hon. They will all be gone to prison and away from our lives."

"No please !" Peter said suddenly. "Do not kiss in front of me !"

"Hm. I don't know. It sounds like a good idea." Tony teased. "Hell, Bruce you should call Val. Maybe it can be double fun !"

"You know, that's a great idea Tony."

"NOOOO!" Peter said dramatically.

"Hehe." Carol did give him a quick pick on the lips. "Don't burn anything."

"Can't promise that !"

"DUMM-E can promise me that. Right ?"

The robot bipped happy at that.

"Wow...even the Hulk got scared of that." Bruce said.

The time had finally come.

Today is the beginning of Steve's trial. And where he will finally show what a big mistake all of this is.

Before the trial. He had asked Nicole to get him the Captain America suit to wear for the trial, and even better to get his shield back. That way they would remember that he is Captain America. A hero.

She looked at him like he was insane.

"Steve, why would the court allow you, the one going to trial, to where an armored suite and a weapon of all things. And regarthless that suit belongs to S.I so you can't even ask for it. I'll get you a nice suit for the trial."

Steve had been dissapointed, but he had to admit. The suit looked good on him. It's also nice to see himself outside those prison clothes.

He looked himself at the mirror and sighted. Soon, he will be looking at the mirror and see himself back in the Captain America suit, ready to be a hero once again.

"Rogers !" Danvers spoke behind him. "Hands on your back, it's time to go."

"Is that really necessary ?" Steve did not like this woman. She treated Captain America like he is a criminal. That will not do her good once he resumes command of the team.

"Yes it is. Now hands on your back, now !"

Steve sighted. He hated backing down to bullies, but knew he had no choice. So he did as she told him.

She put him on cuffs and dragged him to the elevator, where they went inside a car.

Steve was shocked when he saw the driver.

"Sharon ?" He said betrayed. He had learned she wasn't the person that helped her but still.....he would imagine she would be on his side. Peggy would."

Sharon just glared at him.

"Hmph. This is what you deserve you idiot."

"Sharon what..."

"Enought !" Carol said. "Sharon, please just get us to the courthouse. The sooner we get this over with the better."

"Right you are Captain."

Sharon ignored Steve and drove around.

Steve took the chance to look at New York, Once this hole mess is cleared, he will take a walk around it.

Steve had a lot of planning to do after he is free from this mess. Things had changed a lot and he needed to talk to Tony on how to fix everything. The Avengers needed to be united again, and be the team that they once where. Surely once he and Tony talk things out, everything will be fine. His team will forgive him, and they will all be back to being Avengers, and the happy family they were before the Civil War.

"Rogers, stand up, we are here." Danvers said, interrupting him from his thoughts.

Steve got out of the car and.....he saw them.

Protestors, all around the courthouse.

All of them with anti Captain America sign.

"STEVE ROGERS IS A CRIMINAL !"

"SCREW TEAM CAP !"

"BLACK WIDOW IS A TRAITOR !"

"BURN THE WITCH !"

"FALCON AND HAWKEYE ARE DANGEROUS, LOCK THEM UP !"

"STEVE ROGERS IS NOT OUR CAPTAIN !"

"CAPTAIN AMERICA IS NOT OUR HERO !"

"JUSTICE FOR TONY STARK ! JUSTICE FOR IRONMAN !"

A man stood in top of a van.

"SAY IT WITH ME ! NOT OUR CAPTAIN ! NOT OUR CAPTAIN !"

"NOT OUR CAPTAIN !" The crowd cheered.

Steve couldn't believe it. He had heard about the people being angry but...he could have never imagined it was like this.

Didn't they realize the mistake they were making ? That Steve had done it all for them, to protect them ?

He just...he couldn't believe what he was seeing.

"Move Rogers. We don't have all day." Danvers started pushing him.

SHIELD agents took care of the people, as once they saw Steve, many wanted to launch at him.

"YOU ARE A TRAITOR ROGERS !"

"WE TRUSTED YOU, YOU WERE OUR HERO ! AND YOU DO THIS !"

"Hmph. Figures the real Captain escorts the fake one. SHE'S A TRUE CAPTAIN, NOT YOU AND YOUR FAKE ASS !"

"TEAM CAP IS CRIMINALS. TEAM IRONMAN ARE HEROES !"

"YOU ALMOST KILLED IRONMAN, FUCK YOU ROGERS !"

Finally, they reached the courthouse.

"NOT OUR CAPTAIN, NOT OUR CAPTAIN, NOT OUR CAPTAIN !" Steve heard them shout as the doors closed.

"It's just the first day." Carol groaned. "It's only going to get worst from here." She mumbled.

Steve was in shock. The people were so angry with him...He had to explain to them. They didn't understand. Surely they know Captain America is a hero, and just wanted to protect them.

Steve quietly reached the trial room, and he was sat on the front. Nicole was there at his side.

"Steve. Captain Danvers." She greeted them.

"Ms. Worgington. I'm behind you in case there's any trouble."

Carol freed Steve from the cuffs, and sat down behind him. Steve slowly sat down besides Nicole.

"I got them to allow you off the cuffs during the trial, as long as you follow all orders Steve." She told him seriously. "One misstep, and they will have to remain, so please do what i tell you to."

"I....ok." Steve is still calming himself from what he saw.

"Now. Remember that during this part of the trial. You can't talk unless you are asked to by the judge. Just sit there, and let me do the talking. If you need to say something, write it down on the note pad, and I'll look at it."

Steve hated that. He hated that he could not talk himself and just tell everyone how unfair this all was. But....he was beginning to think this might be more complicated, so he just nodded.

"Good. Now to explain you better how this is going to work. Since you are an enhanced, and even though you didn't sing them, you still fall under the jurisdiction of the Accords Council. The jury is consisted on 5 people from different countires. Those countries aren't ones that are involved on your charges. So it's the judge."

It was decided to make things more fair. That the countries involved in Steve's crimes would not get involved in the trial process, other than presenting the charges. Those on the jury and the judge had to be from another country that wasn't affected.

The Jury the accords council chose for Steve's trial is consisted of. Samuel Cassagranda, from Mexico, Alberto Lucca, from Italy, Sofia Ramires from Argentina, Dae Ming from South Korea, and Jennifer Horton from New Zeland. The judge will be Joe Docter from Canada.

Nicole told him other things, but he didn't listen to her. He closed his eyes to remind himself that everything was going to be fine.

"All rise." The judge said. It had began.

"Today is November 23rd of 2017. Today we begin the trial of Mr. Steven Grant Rogers. Who is accused of many crimes that will be listed by country, and by the date they were committed. Mr. Rogers if you could please stand up while we read the crimes."

Steve glupped and stood up.

"On 2014. The United States government is acusing Steve Rogers of the release of sensitive information during the fall of SHIELD, known as the info dump. As wells as the 1.239 lifes that the info dump took, from Agents that weren't involved with Hydra, and from their families. Also in the United States, on 2015 Steve Rogers is accused of assaulting Dr. Anthony Edward Stark, and Dr. Robert Bruce Banner during the Ultron Offensive. Stark Industries is also accusing Mr. Rogers of theft, for using millions of dollars from the company, without proper authorization. In 2016. On Nigeria, Mr. Rogers is accused of illegal entry, massive property damage, and involuntary manslaughter. On Romania. Mr. Rogers is accused for illegal entry, resisting arrest, 22 counts of assault, 6 counts of second degree murder, involuntary manslaughter, massive property damage and carjacking. On Germany Mr Rogers is accused of breaking out of prison, massive property damage. Six counts of assault, and Plane jacking. On Russia, Mr. Rogers is accused of illegal entry and the attempted murder on the second degree of Dr. Anthony Edward Stark. Also in Russia it was discovered that Mr. Rogers was holding sensitive information, there fore Mr. Rogers is also charged with obstruction of justice for the deaths of Howard and Maria Stark. In international waters where the Raft Prison is located. Mr. Rogers is accused of causing prison break, Helping 4 fugitives escape. 17 counts of murder in the second degree, and destruction of an international institution. On Wakanda Mr. Rogers is charged for illegal entry. On Paraguay Mr. Rogers is charged for illegal entry, and theft. Finally, on 2017, in Colombia. Mr. Rogers is charged with illegal entry, massive property damage, 4 counts of second degree murder, 1 count of first degree murder, involuntary manslaughter and resisting arrest."

Steve started sweating. He had heard it was bad but.....those were a lot of charges...had he really done that ? No...there had to be a mistake....right ?

"With the crimes read. The court now opens the space for the opening statements."

As the prosecution began talking, Steve sat down and looked down.

For the first time, he feels he might be in some big trouble. And he is not sure how to fight it.

Natasha never expected things to be like this.

She had miscalculated, she mad miscalculated so badly.

What the hell had she been thinking. Siding with Steve over Stark ? She liked Steve more than the Iron Man. He was egotistical, and it granted her everytime he thought that he was better than her.

She didn't like, she wanted to stand that he wasn't fit to be an Avengers. But...he had the brains, the power, everything that Natasha wanted. Steve didn't. Steve had the reputation of Captain America, but outside the US, that really didn't meant anything.

She had allowed herself to believe that in the end, the golden american boy would aways stand above the billionaire with a dark past. That siding with him would make Natasha's problems go away.

But now look where she is at. In prison, with no way out. Completly screwed.

Unlike the others, she had seen the cells on the tower before. She knew how much Stark worked on them.

She knew escape was extremely hard.

This was not going according to plan. She should have left them behind, or just taken Clint and go. The mission in Colombia had disaster written all over it. But she hadn't seen it at the time. All she cared about...was winning. Was proving to Stark that she would come in top, and put him back on his place, he had been getting to out of hand after he was found innocent over Ultron.

She wanted to remind him of his place on the team, but it has come to bite her on the ass again.

The Avengers, the team she had and liked being part of it, was over. Steve is done. She had heard how his first days in trials had gone, and he was diging himself a deeper hole every day. He had nothing to defend his actions. Being Captain America didn't mean anything to anyone any longer. Today, the Avengers members start testifying. It will be Steve's doom. Yet for some reason, he still believes that he is gonna get out scott free. That somehow he is gonna convince the world that he did what he had to do. Because he had to protect Bucky Barnes.

Barnes, the man that Steve cares so much about, will ultimately be his downfall. How ironic.

Sam had resigned to his fate. Her lawyer had told her that he had accepted a plea deal, and got 14 years with parole at 7. Sam had less charges than anyone here, his fate was always gonna be better than hers. A plea deal for her will probably end up with 20 years, maybe more. She can't have that. Clint was no longer caring about anyone here. All he cared was getting back to Laura, in any way possible. He doesn't care who he has to bring down in order to get back to them. Wanda....Wanda was a suprise. Natasha would have thought the video of Siberia, of Steve almost killing Tony, would cause her joy. It didn't. It actually brought her to think of her actions and....she was being strangely cooperative. Natasha would never have imagined that.

Steve was still trying to talk to them all, but try to unite the team. But the team is done. This team at least, is never going back to the way it was before. The only thing they can all do now is to safe themsevles.

It sadden her to leave Clint to his fate, but she has to do it. Natasha had to save herself no matter what. She had to get out of this one. There is no way that she had messed up so badly.

Her first day of trial is tomorrow. She has to think of any way to get her way out of here. SHIELD could be an option, if she could get ahold of Coulson again. But after he confronted them, he never came back.

She could try with Stark, see if any of her manipulations worked again. She didn't want that really, but if sucking up to the man meant her freedom, she would do it. If only Danvers wasn't around, she could have used the sexual atracion.....

This wasn't gonna be the end of the Black Widow, there is no way that is gonna happen.

"Romanoff." That asgardian woman came in. "You got a visitor."

This woman, Valkyrie, is the one escorting her to trial. Natasha had tried to gain anything from her before her capture but was unable to do so. She had to find something.

"Why can't they come here ?"

"She has requested privacy." Now come on.

Natasha was let out of her cell. She ignored the look Steve gave her. The man looked at them longlely everytime one came out. The others ignored her.

She was brought to a table, and chained to it. But unlike her interviews with her lawyer, Valkriyie didn't stay. She left.

Natasha thought who could be her visitor. She wished it was Stark, so she could gain something from him, see what she had to do to get him to bail her out. But she had been told her visitor was a woman. Could it be Pepper ? She would take that as well. Natasha just hoped it was someone she could use.

However, when the person came in, she was frozen.

Wha....what is she doing here !

Her vistor sat down in front of her. Natasha was still not believing who it was.

"So...got nothing to say ?"

"ye...Yelena ?!"

Her adoptive sister, Yelena Belova. Was the one in front of her.

"Hey Natasha, it's been a long time. You know since you left me on the red room."

"Yelena....how..."

"So...you know I never imagined this. I thought you had, cleaned the red of your ledger, but here you are. In prison, with the great Captain America. Turns out he is not that different from Alexei after all."

Natasha got her bearings back. This was a...very surprising development, but she could use it.

"How are you here..."

"Shortly after your Civil War, a former Widow freed me from the Red Room. I spent some months in hiding, had to avoid the Taskmaster. Then I got to the Avengers, and asked for their help. They helped me dismantle the Red Room, and finally kill Dreikov, who you failed to kill. Then, since I had no where to go, the Avengers welcomed be here, so, here I am."

"But...how...you weren't on the news."

"I haven't been on the team up until recently. Tony was helping me with my legalities, clearing my legal status, talking with the Russians so they aren't angry with me being here. I have also been in therapy, because the Red Room leaves more than physical scars."

Natasha thought about that. Yelena's entry to this world was certainly different than hers. Natasha never went to therapy (she didn't need it) or Fury never cleared her legal status. She became a SHIELD spy, and started working.

Her sister's path seemed long an unnesecary...but with how things are now, it might be better on the long run.

"I like them. The New Avengers. They have been so nice to me, and helping me particulary on this world. Tony and Carol in particularly....they are very nice."

She saw the look in Yelena's eyes. That looks...if Tony and Danvers returned it..

Before Ulton, Clint had asked on one of their parties (how she missed that, how she missed the luxurious life) to Tony if he would be on a polly relationship if he could. He had said if all parties involved agreed to it, he would have no problem.

Regarthless, it seems Yelena had become close to the New Avengers. She could use that.

"Yelena..please, you have to help me.."

"Oh god I knew this was coming. If you think I am gonna bail you out, you are sorely mistaken."

"Please..we are family remember."

"Yes, family. Family doesn't leave each other behind Natasha, and that's what you did. I've been on the Red Room all this time you were a super hero. You could have helped me, SHIELD would have the resources, Tony certainly has them. But you forgot about me, you left me there to rot, just because i wasn't useful. Alexei and Melina would be so proud of you you know. They are both at prison now. Alexei got 30 years for all he did for Dreikov, no parole. Melina faired better, she got 22 years, with the chance of parole at 16. They are both in the Raft, where you are going."

Natasha sighted. If Melina had been convicted, this did not fare any good for her. This was bad. Really bad.

"Yelena...please."

"I wanted to know if you felt any remorse. But the first thing you did was think of me as a way out. You know you screwed over every Widow that wants to proof that they are better than what they made us. I'll have to fix that, to give the others a chance to live. I won't help you Natasha...goodbye."

Yelena stood out and left the room.

Natasha looked at the floor.

Dam it...what now ?

"Please state your name and job for the court sir."

"Colonel James Rhodes. Air Force Colonel, and leader of the Avengers." Rhodey said, following all procedures.

His time had finally come to testify against Rogers. Today, Rhodey could speak.

The man in question did not look at him. He was looking at the desk, and his papers.

The first day had been victims of Rogers' actions, civilians, coming to speak. Family members of the police men in Romania came to talk. A police men came to speak himself, and told the court about the life long injuries Rogers gave him.

Still, from what Carol, Sharon, and FRIDAY said, somehow it hasn't hit Rogers that he is guilty of all of this. He somehow still thinks he is gonna get out of this one.

But there is no way out, and when it finally hits him, Rhodey will enjoy it.

But for now, he had a job to do.

"When did you first met Mr. Rogers ?" Jenifer asked.

"Shortly after New York. I was at Hong Kong during the invasion."

"Where you present when former Secretary Ross presented the accords to Mr. Rogers ?"

"Yes. I at the time was a reserve member of the team, and was present for the meeting."

"Where you informed of the accords at the meeting, or before hand ?"

"I knew them before hand. The news were already discussing the idea of UN intervention, and I had been consulted alongside Tony Stark for some points."

"Do you know why Mr. Rogers was not informed of the accords, as the leader of the Avengers at the time ?"

"Beats me. The idea was already on the news. However, it always seemed that Rogers relied on Romanoff telling him everything, he never took the time to search himself for stuff. And he was contacted by the board via email, but he never answered."

"You were unaware of the mission in Lagos right ?"

"Correct. I was not informed of it, as was Vision. I think we all know why that was the case."

"Indeed, we'l get that in time. According to the records, Mr. Rogers seemed to leave on many trips, to what we now know. Was to search James Barnes."

"Indeed. Like I said though, I was only a reserve member. With my career on the air force, i was unable to join full time. So many of this times, I didn't know they had left."

"Uhum. You were on Romania when the chase was over. Tell me, did Mr. Rogers show any remorse for the carnage he had left behind ?"

"No." He said that part very seriously. "I saw remorse in Barnes, Wilson, and King T'Challa, but not on him. All he cared about, was Barnes."

Rogers glared at him for that. Well too bad for him if he can't handle the truth.

"Let's get moving to the airport. You went with Dr. Stark, the Vision, and Ms. Romanoff to capture the fugitives."

"Yes. The plan was to talk them down before a fight began. When we heard of Barton and Maximoff breaking out of the compound, we knew it was better to get back up. Tony contacted Spiderman, and King T'Challa agreed to help us."

"And did you try to talk to him ?"

"Yes. Tony tried to talk to Rogers. He told us about some super soldiers, and Zemo, but made no effort to continue talking after that. Tony begged him to stand down, to resolve things peacefully, and Rogers instead began the fight."

"How would you describe the fight ?"

"It was chaotic...we knew we had superior fire power, but our orders, and intentions, were to capture, not kill or give severe injury. We held back, intentionally targeted anything but them. Vision stood down most of the fight because he knew his power could be deadly. Rogers and the others, well they didn't hold anything back. Threw fire trucks at us, didn't hold their punches. Pleas to stand down were ignored. We managed to capture most of them after some time, thanks to the quick thinking of Tony and Spiderman, but Rogers and Barnes got to the hangar, were Romanoff turned tail and let them go. Tony and I chased them, Wilson after us. I instructed Vision to shoot at his thruster, knowing he could glide down safely with his wings. But Vision was overwhelmed, and he missed, and.....shot me instead. Tony and Wilson tried to catch me but....there was nothing they could do."

"Can you tell us the full extent of your injuries ?"

Rhodey closed his eyes, and told what the doctors told them. Every word they said to him.

"At the time, I wasn't gonna walk ever again. It's thanks to Tony that I'm standing here, and not in a wheel chair. It's also thanks to him that I didn't die on that fall. If I happened to be a bit higher.....I would not be here."

"Do you blame someone for your accident ?"

"Yes. I don't blame Vision. Despite what he looks like, he is young, and was on the process of finding himself. I should not have made that call. I also don't blame Wilson. He dodged the hit, which is something i would have done as well. But Rogers...his insistence of a fight, his refusal to talk...that's what caused this. I blame him, and no one else."

Rogers was turning a bit red at that. He seemed like he was gonna talk, but a stern talk from his lawyer made him stand down.

"You were in a 4 day coma after you're fall. What happened after you woke up."

"I woke up, drugged for the pain. Vision was there. He told me of...Tony's fight with Rogers. On how he left my best friend to die at Siberia. He told me that Tony was in surgery, fighting for his life. That if it wasn't for King T'Challa.....he would be gone. I spent days at his bed side, begging for him to wake up."

"When you were told of what triggered the fight, on the lie that Mr. Rogers had been keeping from Dr. Stark for two years, how did you feel about it ?"

"I was angry. God I was so angry. I don't have the best opinions of Howard Stark, but Maria Stark was a benevolent woman that loved everyone she came across with. She didn't deserve that. I was so angry, that Rogers here, thought that it was ok, to use Tony's money and resources, to search for his parents' killer, regardless if it was his intention or not, and had no intention of telling him the truth. However..I wasn't tat suprised at that."

"You weren't surprised ? Can you please explain that ?"

"Rogers never liked Tony. He was amicable to him sometimes, and a bit friendly sometimes. But for most of the time, Tony was treated like dirt by Rogers. Every time Tony tried to do a suggestion, or add a bit, Rogers yelled at him, told him to remember his place. He made Tony work for hours for his equipment, that he wasn't even thanked for, and Rogers ignored that Tony even had a life. He made him the Avengers' banker, without any consideration. I saw my best friend, with bags under his eyes, his relationship at the time crumbling. I saw the abusive nature of most of the Avengers, with the exemptions of Vision, Dr. Banner, and Thor, and did nothing. Rogers specially was like that."

At that, Rogers was unable to keep quiet.

"I didn't abuse Tony !" He yelled. "He..."

"Mr. Rogers !" The judge yelled. "You will remain silent until this court allows you to speak !"

"But I..."

"Ms. Worginton, please calm your client down, or he'll be gagged."

"Yes your honor." Nicole gave Steve some hushed (angry) whispers, and the man finally calmed down.

Rhodey wanted to shout at him. He wanted to tell him every single thing he thought of the man. But he held back. He knew that Rogers was getting what he deserves.

Jenifer stopped her questioning after that. The defense tried to counter some questions, but Rhodey easily answered them back. He felt for Rogers' lawyer, he really did. He used a neutral tone because she didn't deserve his anger. He could rant to Rogers himself once he is imprisoned.

Soon the time was over, and Rhodey left the courtroom.

The place was in total chaos today. Three of the rouges were here. Today was the beginning of Romanoff's trial, and Wilson was being sentenced. SHIELD was working hard on keeping everything safe.

Rhodey really couldn't wait until this was over.

Sam has been on courtrooms before. But never on this place.

Today he was being sentenced. Today his life was over. After this, he'll be a convicted criminal.

He was brought in on the morning. First he would go to his sentencing hearing, and then he would testify on Steve's trial. After that, he would return to the tower, and wait for the time to go to where he'll serve his sentence.

"Are you ok Sam ?" Mr. Tao asked him.

"Ye..yes."

"Good..just remember. It could have been a lot worst. You are doing the right thing."

The right thing...that's what he thought he had done when he followed Steve, and looked where that ended.

The court was called into session, and then the judge came in.

"Samuel Thomas Wilson. You have agreed to plea guilty to all the crimes you are being charged with. Was this a choice made by your own validation ?"

"Yes your honor." He said quietly.

"This court will allow you to give a statement before the sentence is announced. Will you do it ?"

"Yes your honor."

The room was quiet, and Sam sighted.

"I just want to say...I'm sorry. For everything. There is no excuse. I never meant for any harm to come, when I joined the Avengers I wanted to do good. But I did the opposite. I will give no excuse about it. Yes I followed Steve Rogers' orders. I was...blinded by the legend of Captain America, but never cared to look past it, and see the man behind the shield. I should have done that. It was a mistake I will own up to it. To all the victims of Nigeria, Romania, Germany, the Raft, and Colombia. To my former teammates, James Rhodes, Tony Stark, Vision, and to anyone else that was hurt by my actions...all I can offer you is my apology. I hope you find the healing you deserve. That's all your Honor."

"Very well Mr. Wilson. Your words have been recorded on the record. Now, in acording to the plea deal made with the Accords prosecution, Sam Wilson, you have accepted his guilt on all the crimes, and this court is now sentencing you to 14 years in prison, with the possibility of parole at 7 years, depending on good behavior." The judge smashed his gravel, making the sentence official.

Sam sighted. It was official. He would now spend the next 7 years of his life at least, on prison.

It's what he deserves.

Mr. Tao brought him outside the courtroom and into a bench outside.

"It will take a bit of time before you must testify. Can I bring you anything Sam ? A cup of coffee maybe ?"

"A cup of coffee would be nice, thank you."

His lawyer brought him a cup of coffee, and a muffin. Sam ate them both quietly. Enjoying the breeze of the air.

Who knows when he would get to do this again.

The time then came for Sam to testify against Steve.

The courthouse were Steve was, was much bigger than his. It made sense. Everyone had made their own choices, but Steve had been the leader of all of it.

Steve tried to look at him, but Sam ignored him, he went to the stand, and sat down.

After the introduction, the prosecution started.

"Mr. Wilson. I would like to clarify this to the court. Was the mission in Lagos meant to go hunt down Brock Rumlow, or was it a search for James Barnes ?"

"It was for Barnes. We didn't learn of Rumlow until we were there."

"So there was no plan of attack ?"

"No there wasn't."

"And you didn't feel that warning the police of Lagos would make sense to avoid casualties ?"

"I...I didn't think about it. Steve said he didn't want to risk tipping Rumlow off."

"Hm. And when the fight reached a crowed market, did you feel any concern for the civilians, who were brought in to the crossfire ?"

"I..." He had no answer for that.

"Mr. Wilson, did you or did you not, read the accords when they were brought to you ?"

"I ....took a look at them. I didn't really think about...Steve didn't trust them, and I allowed myself to believe in him blindly."

"Yeah, well you certainly did that a lot of times. You were a councilor. Working with veterans. Didn't you feel that Mr. Rogers would be emotionally unstable when Mr. Barnes was involved."

"I..." How could he explain that. That was supposed to be his job. He should have seen that Steve was unable to keep his head clean when Barnes came into the picture. "No...I didn't though about it. Steve said he wanted his friend back..I thought he was the best person to bring him." He wasn't. He was the worst one.

Sam was asked other questions that filled him with shame. How he didn't thought about talking or holding back on the airport, how he never questioned why Steve didn't want to talk about Siberia or didn't allow them to see the news. The choice to go to Colombia, without any information. Things that Sam should have asked himself a long time ago. But were no good now.

"Mr. Wilson. Where you or where you not, aware of the role Mr. Barnes had, on the deaths of Howard and Maria Stark ?"

"No. I had no idea up until recently. When Thor and Bruce Banner came and showed me the truth."

"Did you ever question why Mr. Rogers always refused to call either Colonel Rhodes or the Vision in those search missions. Or why he refused to contact Dr. Stark, when his recources would have made finding the Winter Soldier a lot easier.

"I..." god how many signs had he missed. "I didn't..Steve never really trusted Stark. But now I know why he didn't. Why he was afraid of Rhodes and Vision learning the truth, they would have told Stark."

"Mr. Wilson. If you had learned the truth about the death of the Starks, before the events of Siberia. Would you have told Tony Stark the truth ? Or would you have kept it to yourself, because Captain America said so ?"

Sam remained quiet. What would he have done, if Steve had told him the truth. Would he had done the right thing and tell Stark the moment he knew. Or..would he have kept quiet, because Captain America asked him to..

The answer now seems obvious. But at the time.....

"I....I don't know."

"No more questions."

Rhodey arrived with Carol back on the tower, after a long day.

She told him how his and Sam's testimony had shaken Rogers. But she didn't think the man realized yet that there was no way out. FRIDAY also updated them on Romanoff's trial. Seems the spy is frantically looking for a way out now, as she realized the trial will do no good for her.

Rhodey was there for Sam's sentencing, and for his testimony against Rogers. Rhodey, despite his anger, found he had no ill will towards Sam. He wished once the man faced his punishment, he would be able to reconstruct his life. The story would be different if Sam had not accepted his guilt, but...well he might not be as forgiving as Tony, but Rhodey did have some of that.

He really didn't forgive Sam, but he accepted his apology, and wished him well.

Rhodey rather have his anger at Rogers. That man made it so easy to be angry at him.

"I swear everytime he speaks he makes me want to punch him." Carol groaned. "He always asks, and even demands, that I bring Tony to speak to him."

"He'll get what's coming to him Carol, he'll get it."

They went to the top floor. Where Tony was talking to Yelena on the bar.

He noticed the fond look Carol had, not only at Tony, but at Yelena as well. Both him and Thor already knew, that the former Widow would soon make her way to the relationship. Tony never thought he would get another woman after Pepper, but he will get two. He is happy for his brother, really.

And because Stephen fixed any damage the Red Room did to her, that means Tony could have children from both of them. Children that Rhodey would spoil so badly. He would be cool uncle Rhodey.

Carol went to the pair, while Rhodey went to call Pepper but then Bruce came in.

"Guys, you won't believe this. I just got a call from Jenifer and..."

"What is it Bruce ?" Tony asked.

"It's Maximoff. She is pleading guilty. To everything !"

And that was....a huge suprise.

Out of all the possible outcomes, he never considered this one happening. Wanda Maximoff has chosen to accept responsibly and face the consequences.

"I did not see that one coming." Yelena said. And really, there was nothing else one could say about that.
