Chapter Text
Calloused hands grip the leather, hunter green cover of the Book of Shadows. Piper stares at the Triquetra. She’d been thinking about a lot of things lately. It all started with clearing out Prue’s bedroom so Wyatt and Chris could keep their rooms. Her daughter was on the way, the one she met in the future of 2009. That future had been avoided. Now Melinda was finally coming and they'd needed another room. Wyatt and Chris had their own rooms at this point, even if they were still little, but she wouldn't impose them on each other. By the time they're teenagers, they'd need their own rooms anyway. So might as well get started early, right?
But Piper had a moment of clarity. Her losses outnumbered her gains. She’d lost innocents, friendships, once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, her mother, her grandmother...and Prue. All to gain Leo, her children and Paige. She didn’t really want this future anymore. Especially since Prue had been taken too early. If Andy had lived, there's no doubt things would have went differently. Prue would've been more careful of her life, Piper knows Prue would've been ready to settle by the time Paige came along. It's the perfect exit from the life of magic. One sister leaves, another could fill her place. There's the con. With Prue, there's no Paige. But why did history occur like it did then? What was so important that called for Prue to die so Paige could become a Charmed One? Could Prue not have been able to leave magic? Was death the only way to officially leave the magical destiny the family was given? No. It wasn't. The Power of Three no longer had to fight evil everyday, maybe once in awhile, but the waters have greatly calmed. It took eight years, five years on Paige's behalf, but the three sisters finally got the normal lives they wanted and deserved. But the future they saved included one dead sister and many dead innocents.
Piper realizes that the only way to truly save this future and bring forth its full potential...was to do it over. All of it. From the very beginning, eight years ago.
Opening the centuries old tome, Piper flips through the worn parchment pages of the family’s most cherished and beloved possession. The book had grown three times its size since 1998. The Charmed Ones had done so much in the last eight years. If she wanted to do this, she'd be responsible for saving twice as many innocents. The ones who were lost...and the ones the sisters saved. Not to mention new innocents who would surely enter the fray of magic and demons. With each change, the future would definitely not occur the same as before.
Piper began to flip furiously through the Book, even accidentally ripping a page, the page about Shax. He'd be one of the demons to watch out for and try to strike early rather than later. Preferably in late 1999 to early 2000. No earlier and no later.
She kept flipping the pages of the Book, there had to be something to help her. Except she didn’t want information about the Elders or the Avatars, the Angels of Destiny and Death. No, she needed to ascend the hierarchy. She needed the Children of the Universe.
Piper can’t believe it. There was a never-before-seen page including a spell to summon them. Fate, Destiny, Death and Time. Fate, the mother of what’s set in stone. Destiny, the mother of free will and life beginning. Death, the father of life ending. Time, the father of three daughters: Past, Present and Future. Said spell didn't require the Power of Three either, fortunately. Piper knew she was the strongest and most powerful witch in the world, had Prue lived then she'd have the title, but instead it was Piper. She believed at this point in time, she might be able to pull off a Power of Three spell by herself anyway.
Piper stared hard at the page, making her final decision. 'Good', she thought. 'We all can have the lives we deserve.'
Piper tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. 'Here goes nothing'. “I tempt you Fate, I cheat you Death, I rewind you Time, I change you Destiny. Powers that be, leave your thrones, this witch summons you into her home.”
Piper lifted her head to watch four beings appear in the Attic. Death wisps in, Fate whirls in, Destiny sparkles in and Time spirals in. Death's was the usual black wisps and Destiny's was the usual floating ball that exploded into sparkles. Fate's method of teleportation was the same kind of Whirling that Piper had obtained as the Goddess of Earth. The gusts of wind indicating the being's arrival, blow stray papers and light-weight objects around that section of the Attic. Time's method of teleportation reminded Piper of the wizard that tried to become the Source in 2002. Except instead of a blue and black spiral, Time's was a green and white spiral. Like a green Starlight spearmint candy.
Death, of course, she knew. This one. The one, apparently. His shaggy brown hair and his confident smirk. He could kill her in a second, if he really wanted to. And he had, two years ago, he made her one his agents. Almost made her cross Paige into the afterlife. She wasn’t expecting him to show up though, that Death was an Angel of.
Destiny, again she knew, it was the same Angel who had been summoned by her and her sisters last year in regards to the Ultimate Battle. The same Destiny who just had to take Leo away to give the Charmed Ones an incentive to give this final fight their very all. All along she was under the impression that the Death and Destiny she dealt with, not including the Destiny who visited the sisters in 2002, were Angels of, alas it seems she and her sisters had been dealing with the true beings. Again, not including the male Destiny who offered them the chance to leave magic. So it must've been the Destiny who sent him with the offer. Of course, it was a cruel offer. Since it was so soon after Prue died. Almost like Destiny was mocking the sisters. Thinking about it now, it irked her that Destiny would even think it was appropriate to propose such an offer when they could've given Prue that offer and let Paige still enter the Power of Three.
Fate, none of the four sisters had an encounter with. Fate is extravagant in appearance. Her blonde hair is styled in a loose French braid bun. She has jade green eyes and an alluring smile, both which compliment her flawless skin. She was wearing an elegant gold beading mermaid dress that has a slit up the right leg, exposing the beautiful flesh. The dress glitters in the sunlight that streamed in from the Attic’s windows. In her hands, Fate holds a wooden spindle with gold threads. Piper wasn’t sure how to feel about Fate. She presumed Fate was the 'seductress' of the four beings who appeared in the Attic. Piper could feel a pull to Fate’s tempting lure. 'Fate seems to enjoy tempting humans as they do to her.' Piper thought.
Time, none of the sisters had really met either. Tempus definitely held no power over the elderly man standing in the attic. Time has long white hair that cascades past his broad shoulders and a long white beard as well as a pair of frost white eyebrows to match his luscious locks. Time reminded Piper of King Triton from The Little Mermaid. Time's eyes are a lustrous, stainless steel silver and he has an elongated nose. Piper could see the Attic reflected in his eyes. Time was wearing a velvet green cloak that tailed behind him, similar to a wedding dress or a ball gown, the kind of tail that required someone to follow behind to keep the excess fabric off the ground. In his left hand, he holds a thunderstorm grey-handled scythe with a alabaster white blade.
“Piper Halliwell, I’m not surprised.” Death says, coolly.
“Neither am I.” Fate says.
Destiny nods with her two siblings.
Time glares at Piper, showing his annoyance with this sudden summoning. “How dare you summon me?” He growls.
“Why have you called us here?” Destiny inquires, her right eyebrow raised.
Piper crosses her arms, giving her own confidence. “I want a do-over.”
“A do-over?” Death asks, with a cruel chuckle. The words amused him and this might just be the first time Piper had ever witnessed Death laugh, even smile. Every time he showed up in the last eight years, it was never for pleasantries. Never for tea and small talk. Death was all business and never hesitated to step in when his List was compromised.
“Yes, a do-over.” Piper says. “I want to go back to October 1998 and redo all eight years. This future isn’t what your precious Charmed Ones fought for. Despair still exists here for us.
“You do not appreciate the future we have given you?” Time asks, angry.
“Oh I do.” Piper says. “But you took Prue.”
“Yet I gave you Paige.” Fate counters.
“You took innocent lives.” Piper argues.
“That’s life, that’s the Grand Design.” Death says. "People have to die, it's tragic and unfair, but death is inevitable. Regardless of the circumstances surrounding one's death."
"We didn’t take anyone from this world." Destiny says. "Evil did."
“But you four designed it that way. Innocent people who knew nothing of magic died for what cause?" Piper says.
Death opens his mouth to say something but Piper glares at him. "You can save the "casualties of war" speech for someone else because I don't want to hear it."
Time growls at Piper. No mere witch, not even a Charmed One, was higher than the four beings standing in the Attic. "Watch your tongue, Charmed One. We can easily erase you from existence."
"Except you won't." Piper says. "As we've told The Cleaners, you won't erase us because it would destroy your Grand Design. The balance would tip to Evil and that would make the four you of evil for erasing us." Simply put, she smiles at Time triumphantly. Only for Time to sneer back at her.
“Besides you owe this family. You’ve caused this family more pain and heartache than any happiness. Phoebe, the most. After all she has done for Good, you put her through the most pain. And don’t get me started on how you hurt Paige. Most of all, you fucked Prue over. She was the best out of all us and cared the most about our calling and look where she is now. You owe us. You owe me.”
“We don’t owe you anything!” Time shouts at Piper.
“You four will send me back to the beginning of those eight years and let me save whoever I want and fix everything the way I want without your interference...or I will do it anyway and break your precious Grand Design beyond repair.”
“You really have no idea what you’re getting into.” Death warns.
Fate closes her eyes and sighs. “We will agree to your demands." She reopens her eyes to look at Piper.
“Excuse me?” Time shouts at his sister.
“Shush.” Piper says, glaring at him.
"On several conditions.” She tilts her head, giving away that she has her own hand of cards to play. Piper actually did not have the upper hand here. "By the way, I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty. Even if you did go back in time on your own. Time would simply reverse it and put you back. If you tried again, I'd step in and start altering your family's magic. I'd start by erasing your abilities to cast spells and make potions. As those methods are the most viable for time travel. If you further tried to disrespect us, I'd punish you worse and remove Warren magic altogether. All the way back to Melinda Warren, and to be a real bitch...I'd leave the line's memories intact. They'd all know that you were the sole reason of why their magic was permanently stripped. I'd move on to a new family and create a new Charmed prophecy and legacy."
Time cackles loudly, the vibrations cause the Manor to shake as if an earthquake was occuring.
Piper fumes but calms herself. "Fine, you have my undivided attention. Please, continue uninterrupted." She spits emphasis at Time.
Fate nods. “Very well, first all mortal affairs and events must happen as have. For example, you can’t stop 9/11 or save famous people from death.” Fate says.
Piper hadn’t thought of that. She should’ve but she didn’t. Beggars couldn’t be choosers. She could accept this term.
“All political affairs and events must happen as have.” Fate says. “No campaigning, no funding campaigns, and absolutely no running for political seats.”
Piper nods, agreeing to this. But she does have a question. "What about magical politics?"
"What about it?" Fate asks.
"Does that term include magical politics? Like if I wanted to put someone in charge of the Underworld...an ally per-se, would that be breaking the terms?" Piper asks, this would be a good thing if she could set things in motion. She had the perfect idea of who she wanted in power too.
Fate raises an eyebrow and smiles. "I concur with that idea. I'll allow magical politics to be affected. I'm interested in watching your idea play out."
Piper nods at Fate.
"What idea?" Death asks, looking between his sister and the second oldest Halliwell sister.
"You'll have to wait and see." Destiny says, smiling contemptuously. She liked the plan forming in Piper's mind.
“Lastly, you will be stripped of your molecular powers. You may or may not attain Molecular Immobilization this time around. I will be shuffling the three main Warren powers between you and your sisters. Where which power finds its home will be entirely up to the power itself.”
Piper wanted to protest. “Wait, so I’m not going back in this body?”
Fate shakes her head. “To do this, we’ll have to merge your mind with your younger self. In that body to avoid erasing her existence and furthermore yours. Kind of like when you traveled to 2009. You took over your future body.”
Piper breathes and nods.
“Not everything will be the same as before. If you and your sisters defeat past evils earlier, I will write new evils into the voids created. Let's say Rodriguez is vanquished ahead of schedule, I will write a new evil into the now blank event. By all means, dont wait to make changes. Not all new evils will be difficult. At some point, the evils you faced previously will stop coming because you will have defeated them all. I will continue writing new things to come. This will protect the Grand Design from completely collapsing. Who or what I send will depend on how I’m generous I’m feeling.” Fate says.
“That’s not fair. How am I supposed to accomplish this if you’re just gonna change history?” Piper asks.
“You’ll figure it out.” Death says. “You always do.”
All four beings raise their arms and send different colored beams at her. Fate’s is gold, Death’s is black, Destiny’s is white and Time’s is green.
And before Piper knew it, she was gone from 2007.
Chapter 2: Piper's List
Summary:
Piper makes it back in time...but can she save her first innocent?
Notes:
For the sake of the story, Jeremy has the ability to blink. He's a Warlock and Warlocks blink, even if he didn't in the show.
Chapter Text
Piper opened her eyes. Her vision was blurry and she had to blink several times to bring the world into focus. There's a ringing in her ears. She put both of her index fingers into their matching ear and wiggled them around, as if she were trying to dislodge water from her ear canals.
For several agonizing minutes, her head felt heavy like Excalibur had when she'd wielded the legendary sword as the Lady of the Lake. Her memories were sorting themselves out. Past self and future self stirring together like paint.
Piper surveyed her location. She was in her Jeep Cherokee. The seat belt was buckled in tight, tight like a slithery snake trying to squeeze the life out of her. Piper then remembered she used to be a very nervous woman.
'Better safe than sorry, do you know how common car accidents are?'
Wait! Where did that come from? Oh no. No, no, no. Her younger self was very much alive, thankfully. But Fate forgot to mention that both Pipers' thoughts would be active.
Piper's hearing came rushing back and the roaring pelts of rain against the Jeep fill the silence. It was night. But what night, specifically?
'October 7, 1998'
The night the Power of Three was reawakened. There's one plan ruined. She would've preferred to be sent back a week before this night. To prepare herself for the reoccurring history. She had wanted to try and open Prue's mind to idea of being anything but ordinary. This time around Piper wouldn't resist being a witch. Phoebe would accept with her arms wide open but Prue would fight it, she will fight it. And it will only strain her relationship with Andy. Prue was so scared...will be...of their destiny that it'll cause her to push Andy away. He had accepted the existence of magic and gave his life to save the sisters. Another con. Andy knowing the secret is what led to his death. Piper had to keep him alive at all costs...besides herself and her sisters. And any innocents.
Speaking of innocents, Jeremy was lurking about. Her warlock boyfriend, ex-boyfriend. Piper wanted to vomit at the thought of him. Her heart belonged to Leo. No Dan this time around, that's for certain. There were other men who she'd been attracted to. Josh. Mark Chao, she was saving him at all costs too; fuck Tony Wong...and fuck Yama, for that matter. There'd been several other guys but she'd avoid them.
'Warlock? Magic? What drugs did get I strung out on? What the hell happened to me?' Her younger self questioned.
"Shush. I'm thinking." Piper said to herself.
'Well so am I! You wanna know what I think? I think we need to be institutionalized. Do you hear how insane you make us sound?'
"Yes I do. Stay quiet and reflect on our memories. I've got work to do."
She turned the key in the ignition and the Jeep buzzed to life. If she remembered correctly, Jeremy had already killed three women, the fourth happening tonight at the The Talmadge. She remembered it being on the news after Phoebe arrived. That was about 9:30. Piper looked at her watch. It was 8:00 exactly. She needed to hurry if she was going to save the woman.
She sped away from Chinatown but the pouring rain sought to stop her. It hounded against the windshield, making it extremely hard to see the street and Piper had to ease up on the gas pedal, to avoid an accident. She didn't remember the rain being this bad. Had it been that bad? Or was Fate upping the ante? Or was it that her life became so revolved around magic that simple trivialities like the weather of such an important night was regarded as a useless memory?
She began making a list of the changes she needed to make. First, save the woman Jeremy kills tonight. It was much too late for the other three. Then Read the Dominus Trinus from the book and activate the Power of Three, once Phoebe arrived. Vanquish Jeremy and tell Prue to quit her job at the museum. To forget Roger and apply at Buckland's. They'd need to off Rex and Hannah early on. Several lives would be saved from that.
Of course, there were the other changes that didn't deal with demons. She had to get Prue and Andy back together, bring Paige home, be straightforward with Leo and tell the Elders to fuck off, obtain access to Magic School, bring Andy and Darryl into the fold, get the job at Quake, open a savings account for P3, rename P3 to P4...and so many more things.
She pulled up outside the Talmadge and wasted no time. She turned the key, shutting down her Jeep, and hurried out of the jeep.
She sprinted up to the buzzer and pressed the button beside the woman's name. "Serena? Serena? You're in danger, let me up, Jeremy's on his way."
Another voice blared from the other side. "Hello? Who's out there?"
"You don't know me but please trust me, get out of there. Jeremy is going to kill you and steal your power, he's a Warlock." Piper practically shouted into the buzzer.
"I'll have you know my boyfriend would never harm me. I will not listen to some crazy ex-girlfriend...AAH!" Serena is interrupted by her own scream of pain.
"Serena? SERENA?!" Piper shouted against the pouring rain.
The buzzer came to life again. "Well, well, well. You've been a really good actress, Piper." Jeremy said through the buzzer. "Here I thought, you were clueless about magic. I'm curious to know how you figured it out, though. What gave me away?" He chuckles, sinisterly.
"Save the small talk for someone in Hell. My sisters and I will vanquish you." Piper sneered into the buzzer.
"Ah yes, the Power of Three. Except there's only one of you...and there's nothing stopping me from...blinking in behind you." Jeremy said, blinking in behind Piper.
Piper turned just in time to dodge the swing of Jeremy's athame. "Aah!" She yelped and then brought the pointed toe of right heel into Jeremy's crotch. "Bastard!"
She bolted for her Jeep and swung the driver door open. She jumped in and cranked the vehicle. The headlights flick on and Jeremy is illuminated by the high beams. "You can't destroy me without your magic, bitch! I know you don't have your powers yet."
"Wanna bet?" Piper asked, even though Jeremy couldn't hear her. She slammed her foot down on the gas pedal, flooring the Jeep. She glared at Jeremy as the Jeep barreled into him, dragging him under the vehicle.
Piper threw the Jeep in reverse and then sped the hell away from dodge.
"You bitch!" Jeremy screamed. His black raincoat ripped from being ran over. "I WILL END YOU!"
But his words went unheard by the second-eldest Halliwell as she raced away from him.
Jeremy grinned evily and blinked away.

Chapter Text
Piper brought her Jeep to a halt outside the Victorian manor that housed the family for generations. Halliwell Manor. She turned the key of the Jeep and raced into the Manor.
Piper was expecting to arrive to an annoyed older sister, who would interrogate her as to why she'd been gone so long and complain of the amount of time she didn't have. Instead, she had walked in on a very intense stare-down between Prue and Phoebe. Both sisters were boiling red in the face and were possibly about to start launching hits.
Both Prue and Phoebe turn and glare at Piper. "Where have you been? You know what? I don't care. This night has been a disaster. Now I feel like I've gone to Hell because Phoebe's here...and you didn't think to tell me?" Prue shouted at Piper.
"Phoebe never touched Roger." Piper would defend Phoebe against that pig Roger. "In fact, I have reason to believe that tomorrow you will be out of a job. Prue, Roger's taking credit for all of the work you've done at the museum."
Prue scoffed. "How do you know that?"
"I'll explain later." Piper waved off her older sister. "Just trust me, I wouldn't lie to you, Roger would though. Honestly, Prue, you've done way better than that slimeball anyway."
"Yeah, like one Andrew Trudeau." Phoebe retorted. "Of course, you let the relationship go too."
Prue squinted her eyes at Phoebe. "Whoa." Her voice low. "How dare you?"
"What? Can't take the heat?" Phoebe asked. "After all the years of literal slut-shaming, you didn't think this day was coming?" She crossed her arms. "Why don't you tell us how you really feel about me, Prue? We all know you hate me with a burning passion. So instead of hiding it, just say it."
Prue looked at the floor. "I don't hate you, Phoebe. I never have. I hate myself."
Whoa! Big revelation and a very big change. Prue never even came close to admitting that she didn't despise Phoebe until, at the very least, six months from now. Even then, their rift wasn't thawed completely. Did Piper just make a big change unintentionally?
She had to regain control of the situation. "We really don't have time for this right now, we have bigger fish to fry. It's time to open the Attic." Piper set off for the stairs.
"I agree, I bet Grams was hiding a fortune up there." Phoebe joked.
"Is that all you think about?" Prue asked. "Besides, if you remember, the Attic is locked." She countered, wanting to take control back from Piper.
"Grams will open it...or in the very least, she could tell us where the key is via the Spirit Board." Piper glanced to the old family artifact on the dining room table.
"How did you know I found that?" Prue asked, suspicious of the statements Piper had been spewing.
"Maybe she's psychic." Phoebe suggested.
"Haha, very funny." Prue said with sarcasm. "No trips to the Attic, we're going to get the Chandelier working."
"Or..." Piper turned and ran up the staircase. She was reading that spell in the Book or else they'd be dead by morning.
Prue and Phoebe run behind her. "What did I just say?" Prue shouted at her younger sister.
Piper hurried. "I'm on a mission and I need my powers to do it." She called back.
"Mission? Powers?" Prue queried. "Piper, what are you talking about?" Piper was acting strange, she seemed more comfortable around both her and Phoebe, as well as more in her own skin. She never aired her true thoughts aloud, seeing as Piper never once gave away her distaste with Roger.
Piper reached the Attic door. She tried the doorknob and of course it's locked. She checked her watch. 10:15. It wasn't even close to midnight. Fuck! How could she forget? Phoebe read the spell at midnight. The spell probably wouldn't work this early but she had to try. She just had to. The Grams of this time better have some sense in her head, especially when her granddaughters should not know of magic. Especially Piper, who was the most frightened of the three...and she was now chasing her very frightening destiny? "Grams, please, I know you and Mom wanted to protect us. I know about the warlock Nicholas. Please open the door, please, our lives in danger. Our future is in danger."
Phoebe listened to Piper's prayer. 'Warlock? Danger?' Something was definitely wrong with her sister.
As if by wishing for it, the Attic door swung open as Prue caught up with her sisters. "How did you open that? It's supposed to be locked. We've tried to open it before with no luck."
Piper ignored Prue. She strode into the Attic, experiencing a blast from the past. The Attic would...and will...change over the next eight years. So many warlocks and demons would be vanquished here: Jeremy, Kali, Shax, Belthazor, The Source, Barbas (once out of the several times the sisters fought him) and countless others. The list would surely shrink and grow this time around.
Piper approached an old trunk by one of the stained glass windows. She smiled and opened the trunk. There in all its glory, laid the Book of Shadows.
Piper grabbed up the Book from the trunk. "Ladies, this is the Book of Shadows. It was created by our ancestor, Melinda Warren, she was a powerful witch. She was betrayed by her warlock lover, who announced her secret, and she was burned at the stake."
"Witches? Magic? Warlocks?" Prue questioned her younger sister. "Okay, Piper, listen very carefully. None of that stuff is real."
"Oh it is, Mom and Grams were witches and so are we. We were born witches, we just don't remember having powers. But we will be again when we read the incantation from the Book." Piper explained. "In fact...Phoebe bring the lectern over here."
Phoebe raised an eyebrow.
"That stand right there in the corner." Piper clarified.
Phoebe nodded. "Oh." She moves the lectern over to where Piper indicated via tapping the floor with her right high-heel.
Piper laid the Book on the stand and began flipping the pages. She knew how to convince Prue. Piper flipped to the page on Barbas. "Prue, whose handwriting is this?"
Prue's eyes widen. She ran her fingers over the page. "...Mom." Suddenly, a fragrant scent of sandalwood fills the Attic. Prue looks up, her senses alert. "Do you smell that?"
"Mom's perfume." Piper confirms, smiling.
"I must be dreaming." Prue said.
Phoebe pinched Prue's arm.
"OW!" Prue yelped.
"Well, you're not dreaming." Phoebe remarked.
"None of us are." Piper said. "Mom's handwriting is in this book because she was a witch. We never found out if she ever encountered Barbas when she was alive but she knew of him somehow."
"We?" Prue asked. "You said that like you've been doing...whatever this is...for a long time."
"I have and it all began on this night, when the Charmed Ones were reawakened." Piper says. "So...since it's not midnight yet...the only way this will probably work is if all three of us say the spell together." She explained, flipping back to the beginning of the Book.
"I'm game." Phoebe says. "We all know how much of a saint Piper is, since when has she ever lied?"
Prue considered this. That's when she remembered something from long ago. Deep down in her memories...the Ice Cream Truck. She started humming a tune.
Piper flipped the pages to the entries on the Ice Cream Truck and the Nothing. "Remembering something?"
"Oh my god." Prue muttered. It wasn't a dream. She did get sucked into the Ice Cream Truck that day...and her father had saved her. Had he known of this?
"You're telling the truth." Prue whispered, looking up to meet Piper's eyes.
Piper nodded, sincerely. "I wish I could've given you more time to think about this and warm up to the idea on your own. But this is the night they sent me back to and if we don't get our powers back...then the three of us will be dead by morning. Jeremy's a warlock and he wants our powers. Four women have already died by his hands and it's our responsibility to stop him." She said, stoically.
Prue slowly nodded. "Okay." She looked down at the Book. "I believe you."
Piper smiled. "That's my girl."
Phoebe solemnly smiled. She believed Piper. There was enough evidence present that swayed in her favor. "I believe you too. How do we stop Jeremy?"
"First things first, our powers." Piper said, flipping back to the Dominus Trinus entry. She sure hoped she received her molecular power again. "Hold my hand." She said, offering a hand to Prue and Phoebe.
Both sisters grip one of Piper's hands.
"Now read the incantation aloud with me." Piper instructed.
Both Prue and Phoebe nod.
"Here goes nothing." Piper breathed.
Piper began chanting and both of her sisters joined right on the mark. The three Halliwell sisters chanted the spell in sync, never missing a beat.
"Hear now the words of the witches, the secrets we hid in the night. The oldest of gods are invoked here, the great work of magic is sought. In this night and in this hour, we call upon the ancient power. Bring your powers to we sisters three. We want the power, give us the power."
Downstairs, the Manor's sitting room is illuminated by a blue light which rained down from the chandelier. The very same chandelier that Prue could not seem to fix the power to. The picture of the three sisters, taken by Grams shortly before her death, glows. The photographed versions of Piper and Phoebe are brought closer to their eldest sister, Prue.
Each room seemed to brighten. Not by light but in color, as if they'd been sick and now they'd recovered. The walls and the floors shine, all of the furniture appear to polish out, the flowers raise their blooms and protrude lively from their clay pots. All glass and porcelain gleam brightly, the faces in the family portraits are sharper than ever as if dust and grime had been wiped clean from the protective glass. The grass and flowers outside were just as lively as the flora inside. The paintjob of Piper's jeep seemed to be affected as well as the sisters' wardrobes. The very outfits they had on brightened and their hair seemed to radiate in the dimly lit Attic.
The effects of the Dominus Trinus, not only reawakened the Power of Three, but also reawakened the sacred Halliwell Manor and everything inside the plot of land where the home was rebuilt in 1906.
The blue light from the chandelier faded away after the spell was complete.
"Well...did it work?" Phoebe asked.
"I don't feel any different." Prue said.
"Try moving that chair over there. You should have gotten Telekinesis." Piper said. Hopefully, anyway.
Prue waved a hand at a nearby chair.
"Wait, squint your eyes." Piper corrected, almost having forgotten Prue used her eyes to channel her power when she first got the power.
Prue squinted her eyes at the chair. Nothing happened. "Nope, still nothing."
Piper scowled. Unless...she waved her hand and squinted her eyes at the chair. Nothing for her.
That could only mean...the chair begins slowly sliding across the Attic. "Whoa! Am I doing that?" The third eldest Halliwell asked, excitedly.
Piper nodded. "Yes, Phoebe you are." Piper throws her hands up to freeze the chair. Only for the chair to keep sliding.
"Let me try." Prue said. She copied Piper's movement and the chair came to a halt. Prue gasped, a delightedly surprised expression on her face.
Which meant, she'd be the one getting Premonitions. Piper inwardly groaned, she enjoyed having an active power. It was kind of poetic though, since she also had knowledge of the future. Piper grabbed the cover of the Book, so she could close it. She suddenly gasped, her eyes snapping shut. She studied the vision she suddenly received.
In the premonition: Jeremy blinks into the Attic as the three sisters begin stepping away from the Book.
The vision ended.
"Piper, what's wrong?" Phoebe asked.
"We're about to have company." Piper said.
Not a second later, Jeremy blinked into the Attic. "Ready to die, witches?" He laughed, maniacally.
Jeremy summoned an Athame and ignited a ring of fire around the sisters. "You think you can destroy me? I am one of many. We will destroy you. Evil will triumph and the days when evil roamed the Earth will begin again."
"Holy shit!" Phoebe cowered beside Piper. "What do we do?"
Piper glared at Jeremy. "We send the crazy bastard straight to Hell." She gripped Phoebe's and Prue's hands in hers. "Say this spell with me. The Power of Three will set us free. The Power of Three will set us free."
Phoebe and Prue stutter a bit but finally catch up with Piper's hurried chanting.
Jeremy thrusted his athame at the fire and it transformed into a funnel of wind. He cackled loudly.
"The Power of Three will set us free. The Power of Three will set us free. The Power of Three will set us free." The sisters chant.
"WE WILL DESTROY YOU!!" Jeremy screamed before he exploded in a fiery blast. "AAH!"
The windstorm ended and the sisters stare at the scorch mark on the floor. "There's one evil fuck crossed off the long list of evil fucks to vanquish." Piper remarked, casually.
Prue and Phoebe look at her incredulously. "We just killed someone." Phoebe said.
"No, we vanquished a warlock." Piper said.
"Who worked for the San Fransisco Chronicle. Piper, someone might come looking for him." Prue said, worriedly.
"If someone does, we'll worry about it then. Right now, I think we should call it a night. Tomorrow's going to be a big day, we're going to start looking for our baby sister Paige." Piper said, before hauling out of the Attic...leaving behind two gobsmacked sisters.
Chapter 4: Lie to Them
Summary:
This chapter will feel odd in regards to how early the main focus of change that Piper brings up. But there's a method to my madness and I hope you all enjoy this chapter.
Many of you may wonder why I'm making Paige one of Piper's main objectives. As one reader commented, having Paige's Whitelighter abilites around early will allow for some leeway in regards to making changes. Also I haven't decided what power I want to give Paige or if I even want to change WITCH power at all. Obviously, Prue is no longer telekinetic as Phoebe now is...and before you ask...NO PHOEBE IS NOT GOING TO DIE. Fate simply shuffled the powers of the Charmed Ones. And Paige may not even become a Charmed One in this new timeline. So just wanted to explain that real quick.
ENJOY!
Chapter Text
The next several days rolled by surprisingly fast. The day after getting their powers, Prue quit her job at the museum because Roger was taking all of her credit and then landed the job at Buckland's Auction House. Phoebe had gotten injured while out riding her bike, having saved two skaters from getting hit by a car using her newly-acquired Telekinesis. However, she lost control of the bike and it went out from under her, she narrowly missed the oncoming car. Prue had went to the hospital to pick Phoebe up and was reunited with Andy. Piper, herself, managed to get the job at Quake. This time, she had been able to complete the recipe on time. However, they had someone to replace Chef Moore who was leaving for a job in France. Martin offered her the job of being the restaurant's manager and she accepted it for the sake of income to later purchase The Industrial Zone to create P3.
Overall, Piper felt as if she didn't really sleep the past few nights at all. Did time travel have it's own kind of jet lag? Did Chris feel so tired and out of place when he came back from the future? Did he fret this bad over how he would fit in? Surely, she would think so as he desperately vied to maintain a status quo of some sort.
Regardless, she never had time to sleep in or even plan much at all, she always had things to do or some forthcoming event to worry about. That was her biggest issue the first time around...being a worrywart. Except this time, she wasn't stressing over her power or if she was evil. No, this time it was accomplishing everything she wanted to change.
On today's list, her main objective was to begin her search for Paige and until she could officially bring her home and into magic, she'd have to settle for becoming a friend to her baby sister. When the time was right, Piper would bring Paige into the fold.
Piper rose from her bed and looking around, she realized that her belongings were back in the bedroom from her childhood. With the same wallpaper she picked out when she was nine. She stared at the pink flowery wallpaper that had a white horse in mid-run as the main repeating pattern. While it was suitable for a nine year old girl, Future Piper was not having it. She'd have to redo her room soon.
'I like the wallpaper, there's nothing wrong with it. Besides it's connected to one of our good memories of Dad.' Past Piper said, forcing the memory of the trip to the Home Depot with her father. Grams had basically been a single mother and didn't really make much money. She'd been eventually forced to withdraw her stock from IBM which only lasted the four of them for so long. And despite Grams' insistence of keeping their father away, he did drop in on their birthdays and did try to be a father. However, that had lasted just about as long as Grams' stock money.
And sure, the wallpaper brought back a happy memory of her father but she didn't need the wallpaper to keep the memory alive. Besides Dad will be arriving in town about two weeks from then so it didn't matter if her childhood memories remained intact from this alteration of history. She could make new ones once she convinced him to move back to San Francisco and actually be a father in his daughters' lives.
"It must go along with anything else I feel like throwing out. Specifically in our wardrobe, I mean what are we? Still in high school?" Piper asked herself as she opened her closet. She began pushing hangers along the closet rod. "I mean, our outfit choice is one of the reasons that we weren't more noticed back then. I never cared about popularity but we could've dressed better." She said, criticizing herself.
'That's easy for you to say, you've basically went all Christina Applegate on me." Past Piper said.
"No I haven't and don't knock her style. She dresses very nicely." Piper scolded herself.
It isn't long until she's tossing clothes into a pile by a dresser. "Definitely got to buy a new wardrobe. The earlier I fix myself, the better." She pulled a fuzzy, light blue turtleneck sweater from the rack. She cringed and threw it onto the pile.
'Hey, I liked that one.' Past Piper objected.
"Not anymore." Piper said to herself.
There's a knock at her bedroom door. "Piper? May we come in?"
Prue was outside the door. Fuck, she had missed her big sister so damn much. But to start hugging on her and telling her how much she was missed...well that would raise unwanted questions.
'You can't let her die this time.'
"I don't plan on it." Piper murmured to herself. "Yes, Prue, you may enter."
Prue and Phoebe enter into Piper's bedroom, both dressed for the day. Prue was wearing a sleeved white shirt, black pants and black flats. Phoebe had on a purple tank-top, blue jeans and sneakers.
Piper, herself, fortunately had already gotten dressed before her sisters came to her room. She cursed her younger self for not having anything more daring but she made do with what she had. She had found a sleeveless black top and near the back of the closet...a brown leather jacket. So, she praised her younger self for owning something leather. She had put on a pair socks and then slid her feet into a pair of black-heeled Chelsea boots.
Prue and Phoebe both stop in shock at the current state of the farthest corner of Piper's room. "Moving out?" Prue asked.
"Of course not." Piper replied, moving to the vanity dresser and sitting down in the chair. She grabbed her hair brush and began to tackle her bangs. "That's all for donations. I plan on buying a whole new wardrobe."
"I think that's one of the best decisions you could ever make." Phoebe said. "I mean, no offense, but you've never had the best choice in clothing."
Piper smiled at Phoebe. "I completely agree."
Prue raised an eyebrow. "With what money?"
"I've had some funds in savings since graduating high school." Piper answered. "I didn't waste my birthday money on trendy clothes like you Prue. And I don't even wanna know what Phoebe did with hers in high school." Piper rambled.
"Excuse me?" Both Prue and Phoebe scoffed.
"Can you blame me for saying it? All three of us had our flaws back then and we need to overcome them now so no demon or warlock can exploit them." Piper explained. Her memories recalling the times a demon tried to do this like Lukas using the Seven Deadly Sins, Barbas exploiting their fears. Belthazor, better known as Cole Turner, actually succeeded in breaking their bond as sisters.
"I don't have any flaws." Prue said. "So we have nothing worry about."
"Pride, as in...the Sin of." Piper clarified. "Trust me when I say it can get you killed." The memory of Prue being shot when trying to help that pastor ran through her head.
Prue scoffed.
"Besides that, your fear of drowning."
Prue opened her mouth to say something.
Piper sighed, turning around. Her bangs half hidden away. "Prue, I know you're scared of drowning because I know you were on that dock when they took Mom's body away."
Prue furrowed her brows. "How do you know about that? You were only four."
"I know a lot of things, things I have no business knowing." Piper said. "I will explain everything soon but until then I need both of you to trust me. Do you trust me?"
'Probably not.' Past Piper remarked.
'Shush!' Piper yelled at herself in her head.
Prue breathed and nodded. "You're my sister, of course I trust you."
Phoebe nodded in agreement. "I trust you too."
"Thank you." Piper smiled. "So what was it you two wanted to talk about?"
"Who's Paige?" Phoebe asked.
"You've been avoiding it everytime we ask, Piper. We have the right to know if we have another sister." Prue said.
Piper closed her eyes and sighed. Her sisters weren't going to give up on the subject of their baby sister. She wasn't ready to reveal how she knew yet, so she would have to lie to them. They'd understand in time. "Mom visited me on the night before we got our powers. In my dreams. She came with the most warm and peaceful vibrance, smiling like always. She said that the family was incomplete, that I had to find our baby sister. That her name was Paige and that I'd know when I found her. She gave her love and left." She hoped her sisters will fall for the lie. Technically, it was a twisted truth. Their mother would visit Piper in spirit form, several years into the future, when Piper's pregnant and trapped in water because of Necron. If she even becomes pregnant on time.
"That's it?" Prue asked, as if expecting there to be more.
Piper nodded. "That's it." She said, confirming the inquiry. "I knew it had to be true, that she really did visit me from the afterlife. I mean, we're freaking witches with magical powers."
"Or we've been drugged and now we're hallucinating." Phoebe offered, casually.
Prue and Piper look at their younger sister, questioningly.
"Well, we could be." Phoebe said, raising her hands in defense.
"Trust me, it's all real." Piper said. She wasn't sure how much of the future she has already altered, she just hoped she didn't do anything to destroy everything.
Chapter 5: A Paige Missing
Summary:
Piper begins her search for Paige. She already knows where she can find Paige, however, she needs to gather some evidence first...besides knowledge she isn't supposed to possess.
Or in two words: PRESTO...plot!
Notes:
From this chapter on, I'm going to use present tense. Originally, I wanted to write this story in past tense, since it's a time travel story and Piper is currently in the PAST. However, it's aggravating every time I have to go back and fix reflexively/instinctively written present tense. But I may end up deciding to switch back to writing the story in past tense, who knows?
Also, sorry this chapter is a little short.
Anyway, on with the story. Enjoy!
Chapter Text
Piper sits in her Jeep and stares up at the church where she and Phoebe witnessed Paige use her hybrid power for the first time.
She had finished getting ready for the morning and set off for Quake. That's what she told her sisters, anyway, as she'd left two hours before she had to clock in at the restaurant.
'We're so gonna get struck by lightning...' Past Piper mumbles in fear.
"We will not." Piper says to herself. "Besides, if you haven't noticed...I've already been through this once."
'Exactly! You have grown up and have overcome your insecurities, I haven't. I'll never have the confidence and courage that you have.' Past Piper sighs. 'I'm going to lose my marbles in here.'
"No, you're not." Piper groans. "I can't believe I used to be like this, so paranoid all the time." She exits her Jeep and approaches the church. "Don't say anything while we're in here."
'You really don't have the power to control me.' Past Piper hisses, annoyingly.
"Maybe so, however, that doesn't mean I won't hesitate to try either." Piper says as she opens the right double door. "Now, please, be quiet."
'...Fine' Past Piper groans. If she had a physical body, she probably would be stomping her foot like a teenager. Actually, Past Piper did seem to be slowly changing. Piper was going to have to summon Fate and get some answers about this side effect.
Piper strides down the aisle and immediately sees a nun watering a vase of flowers. She approaches the nun with purpose. "Sister Agnes?"
The nun turns around and smiles. "Yes and who might you be?" She places the small watering can beside the vase.
"Piper Halliwell." Piper answers, introducing herself. "I'm hoping you can help me locate someone very important."
"If you're looking for Father Davis, he's currently--" Sister Agnes says before...
Piper retrieves a photograph from the left pocket of her jacket and unfolds it. It's a picture of Patricia Halliwell.
Sister Agnes gasps. Her mouth agape. She places a hand on her chest. "Good heavens...you've came."
Piper realizes the nun's gears are turning and that she is probably thinking that Piper is the baby that Patty and Sam brought to the church all those years ago. "I think I've confused you. I'm looking for the baby girl that was brought here by this woman. I'm looking for my sister."
Sister Agnes looks up from the picture and meets Piper's eyes, she smiles. "Come with me." She motions at Piper to follow her.
Piper follows Sister Agnes into a back office of the church. The nun stops at an oak trunk and bends over to open it. She pulls a wooden box out of the trunk. "Your parents appeared in white lights and in your mother's arms...was your sister." Sister Agnes explained.
Piper wants to correct the nun, that Sam isn't her father, but she decides against it. It doesn't matter anyway, Paige is her sister no matter who her father is.
Sister Agnes opens the box and inside is a white baby blanket with a letter 'P' stitched in purple. Grams must have made the blanket for Paige, to make sure Paige always had a piece of her biological family.
"At first, I couldn't believe what I was witnessing. It felt so much like a dream but when I found the baby girl in one of the nursery's cribs...I knew it had not been a dream." Sister Agnes said. "That two angels really did entrust me with the safety of their daughter. They explained that their daughter was in grave danger and they had no choice but to give her up to protect her. They requested that I find a good home for her."
"Did you?" Piper asks.
Sister Agnes smiles. "Of course, a very good home with two very loving members of our congregation. Phil and Katherine Matthews dreamed of having a family but sadly...Katherine was unable to conceive. So, I did what your parents asked and found baby Paige a safe and loving home."
Piper smiles. "Paige?"
Sister Agnes grabs the baby blanket from the box. She places it Piper's left hand, holding the blanket and Piper's hands between both of her own. "Your mother had one final request. That your sister's name begin with a 'P'." She retracts her hands. "Unfortunately, Phil and Katherine died in a car accident. However, Paige survived."
Piper frowns, sadly. Paige's biologiical mother is also dead but her biological father, Sam Wilder, is currently trying his hardest to keep people away from Camp Skylark...where he lost his forbidden lover, his charge, to the Water Demon. That charge was the sisters' very own mother.
"I remember seeing your mother in the paper. I've never forgotten her face and I when I saw the article...I mourned for her. I mourned the life she could have had with the daughter she sacrificed for the greater good. Piper, your mother was a remarkable woman, don't ever doubt that. She made the hardest decision of her life and even in her efforts...she paid the price with her life. She always gave back when she could. She'd donate to local funds, when she could spare money, Heaven knows working a 9 to 5 job and raising three girls isn't easy. Fortunately her mother watched the girls while she worked. She was always helping people even if it inconvenienced her time. I remember one night she showed up to the church in her pajamas, mid-storm and in her third trimester with one of her daughters, I presume her third daughter or Paige, and saved the pastor from being crushed by a falling tree. And then that day she appeared with Paige...I knew she was an angel." Sister Agnes smiled. "Forgive me, dear, I tend to ramble sometimes."
Piper smiles and shakes her head. "You're completely forgiven. I never got to learn much about my mother's life. She passed when I was very small and she became a hard subject to bring up."
Sister Agnes frowns. "I'm so sorry to hear that."
Piper shakes her head with a small smile. "Good or bad, some things will always be fated to happen." She look down at her hands, suddenly feeling shy. Her younger self needs to reel it in. "Do you happen to have a form of contact for Paige?" She really didn't need to acquire this since she knew Paige could be found at South Bay Social Services.
Sister Agnes shakes her head. "I'm afraid not. After the car accident, Paige continued attending service with her adoptive uncle and aunt. When she turned eighteen, she stopped coming. The memories must have hurt too much. Her uncle updates me from time to time. She turned her life around, she used to be a troubling teenager. Phil and Katherine would come to me and seek guidance. They'd ask if it might be related to her biological family and I told them that Paige was trying to find herself and her place. That she probably knew about the adoption early on and realized she wasn't theirs. That would spark a curiosity in any young mind, and the power to question is the basis of all human progress. Their deaths, unfortunately, were the fuel that made her focus on her education. She got accepted at Berkeley and now works in social services. Her parents would be very proud."
Piper smiles and nods. "Thank you so much, Sister Agnes. It really does mean a lot. Do you mind if I take the blanket? You know, so I can give it to her, when I find her?"
Sister Agnes smiles and shakes her head. "Not at all, you're very welcome, dear. Good luck in your search for Paige. I really do hope you find her."
Piper smiles. "Thanks. I've got to go now, I've got to be at work in..." She looks at her watch and her eyes widen. "Thirty minutes?! I'm very sorry but I have to go."
"No problem at all." Sister Agnes says. "Keep in touch?"
Piper nods. "Sure thing." She hurries out of the office.
Sister Agnes smiles as she stares at the office door. She'd hear from Piper and her sisters again, hopefully.
Piper climbs into her Jeep, tossing her purse and the baby blanket on the passenger seat. She turns her key in the ignition, starting the Jeep and driving away from the church. Today is also the day when Javna will kidnap Brittany Reynolds...well that night anyway.
Chapter 6: 4, 16, 19, 30...
Summary:
It's either go big or go home. Piper decides to go big, thanks Armani!

Chapter Text
Piper and Phoebe sit in the Quake van. Quake was donating food to a local church, thankfully not the same one Piper had been at earlier. If the nun encountered Piper again, this time with Phoebe in tow, eyes might be raised at Piper. If Phoebe somehow found Paige before Piper could, then there's no doubt that the young telekinetic would tell Paige about magic. Piper is certainly not ready for that just yet. She still has to work out how to save Prue and allow Paige to receive her powers. They've never really dealt with a true "Power of Four" and the consequences may be catastrophic.
Besides that, the driver who was supposed to deliver today's food had called in sick. So Piper asked Phoebe to fill in, of course Piper went with her as she knew Javna had his eyes on the young Halliwell. Unfortunately, Piper had been too late in saving Brittany from getting kidnapped. It seems as though the timeline is trying to maintain itself or its timing as much as possible, regardless of how early she tried to move things. However, Piper isn't one take orders.
Phoebe sighs. "Piper, I trust you, I really do...but you've changed. A week ago, you were the shy girl who used to doodle on her jeans in high school. Now you're this confident and cunning woman, your voice has certainly gotten louder."
Piper looks at her sister, an eyebrow raised. "And that's a bad thing?"
Phoebe shakes her head. "No, of course not. I'm proud of your new-found courage, I just don't understand the sudden change. You didn't have this air when we spoke on the phone before I came back and I know you didn't believe in magic. So come on, spill, while Prue's not around."
Piper hears anguished cries in the back of her mind. Prue. Her younger self has reached the memories of Prue's death, or accidentally discovered...or has fallen into the dark void that she would two years from now. A void that she'd never completely escape. Piper wonders if her younger self was being to subjected to live her future self's memories. And that's all they were memories but for Past Piper...she may actually be living them. It'd explain why her past self has quietened down. She'd worry about it later.
"Come on..." Phoebe nudges, trying to get Piper to open up. "What's the deal?"
Piper comes back to her senses. She stares at Phoebe. Her heart wants to tell her everything. It wants to warn Phoebe about her both difficult and successful road ahead. Her heart wants to warn Phoebe about Cole, about the Woogeyman and easily being influenced by evil. She wants to speak of the great woman who Phoebe would become. A successful advice columnist with a Cupid husband who the witch would start a family with. But Piper couldn't, she wouldn't, the future certainly'd be affected.
Piper sighs. "It's complicated." She tries to avoid the subject and exits the van as some people from the church begin to file out to get the food. Piper rushes to the back doors and opens them.
Phoebe follows suit. "Complicated how?" She asks, a hand on her hip. "Piper, what's the matter? Why won't you tell what's going on?"
Piper so badly wants to tell Phoebe. Maybe she could...just not in the way she'd prefer.
"Remember when I told you and Prue that Mom visited me? That she told me about our other sister?" Piper asks, trying to keep her voice at a mumble as she hands a tray of food to an elderly man.
Phoebe nods. "Yeah..."
"That's not the only thing she informed me of." Piper says, glancing over her shoulder to see if someone was approaching. "She showed me the next eight years, down to the tiniest details."
"I'm sorry, she did what?" Phoebe asks, needing clarification. "You mean she actually showed you our future?"
Another man walks up behind Piper. "Phoebe!" She scolds her sister. Piper hands a tray of food to the man and he walks away. "Are you trying to expose us?"
"Oh come on, it's not like he'd actually believe that." Phoebe counters, as if exposure isn't a big deal. They'd learned the hard way the first time around. And if Piper made sure everything went smoothly, then her sisters would never learn that magic had consequences. Piper groans internally, she'd probably have to let some of those spells-gone-awry actually be cast. She knew this Phoebe would nodt likely ignore her sister's warnings anyway.
Pastor Williams approaches the sisters. "Hello, Piper...and Phoebe. I didn't know you back in town."
"Hi, Pastor Williams." Piper greets the pastor.
"Yeah, I took my bite of the Big Apple." Phoebe says, smiling.
Piper had to get off the topic of the future. "I'm going to get some gum, Phoebe why don't you tell Pastor Williams all about your time in New York." Piper grins and hurries away from her sister.
"B-but..." Phoebe tries to stop her older sister but Piper scurries off. Phoebe turns to look at Pastor Williams and grins. She's going to kill Piper.
Piper approaches a street vendor. She sees an elderly couple, writing numbers in on a lottery ticket. Suddenly, Piper remembered something.
⧖
"At least we helped those people. I mean, it's nice we know our powers really are good." Piper said to her sisters.
Prue frowned. "Yeah, good for everything but love lives unfortunately." She sighed. "Although I must admit they do come in handy once in a while."
Phoebe looked at Prue, an eyebrow raised. "Uh huh, hypocrite." Phoebe turned her head and looked at the TV. The winning lottery numbers appear on the screen. 4, 16, 19, 30, 32 and 40. "The winning numbers, I've won!" Phoebe grinned, excitedly. Prue gave Phoebe a disapproving look. "Well, I did." The young Halliwell defended herself.
Phoebe pulled the ticket out of her purse and the numbers, unfortunately, disappear. "It's a good thing I didn't take the tags off that dress." Phoebe shook her head, sadly, only to then shrug off the loss. "Oh, well. At least that old couple didn't lose their house."
⧖
"$3.52." The vendor says to an elderly man and his wife.
The elderly man shakes his head, frowning. "Should be used on grand children's birthdays." In one of his hands, he's holding a lottery ticket.
Piper glances at him as she lays a pack of gum on the counter.
"It's a ten million dollar jackpot. Who knows? I mean, today may be our lucky day." The man says, hopefully. "If not, we're gonna lose our house."
Piper chances her power. She touches a lottery ticket and gasps. She is sucked into a premonition.
𓁿
A closeup on a television screen. White circles appear, one after the other, with a bold, black number inside of each circle. The numbers are: ④ ⑯ ⑲ ㉚ ㉜ ㊵
𓁿
It wasn't like the premonition mattered anyway, or any of the original timeline's visions to come, considering that Piper has already lived the following eight years. She may not know exactly what Phoebe had seen in each premonition but she could make many accurate guesses. Until she changed the future too much and she would have to rely on her new power.
"4, 16, 19, 30, 32 and 40." Piper says to the elderly man. "Those are the winning numbers."
The vendor laughs. "Yeah, yeah, right lady. $1.07, you want the gum or not?" He crosses his arms, becoming annoyed by Piper's delay in payment.
Piper looks at the elderly man, a serious expression on her face. "4, 16, 19, 30, 32 and 40. Trust me, write the numbers and save your house. Put the rest in savings for your grandchildren's educations." It's what she'd most likely do if Wyatt and Chris were present. "Today is certainly your lucky day...and I think I'll buy one of these lottery tickets too." Piper says, smiling at the vendor. She's going to win the money whether Fate liked it or not. There were errands on her fix-it list that required money in order to be successfully checked off. Like dealing with one Tony Wong and saving Mark.
Notes:
Yes, I'm going to let Piper win the money. Why? Because it's my story and I said so.
She's also gonna need it in to change some things, gain some useful allies and, unfortunately, several new enemies.
I bet you thought I was being nice to Piper. The joke's on you, dear audience, there is something far more sinister and powerful lurking in the shadows. More powerful than the Elders, the Avatars and, perhaps, even the Universe's children.
Prepare for the very bumpy road ahead. No matter how much Piper changes, that looming evil I warned you about...it laughs at Piper and it laughs at us.
Apart from that...symbols and their meaning.
⧖ - This is an hourglass. It separates flashbacks and the present day.
𓁿 - This is an eye. Specifically an Eye of Horus but that fact doesn't hold any real meaning to the story, I'm just a fan of Egyptian mythology. This symbol separates premonitions and the story to prevent the plot/story from looking as if it's mushed together. Same goes for the hourglass.
If something is bolded in a premonition, that means important information is being relayed, could be obvious or could be cryptic, to Piper and at an extent to you, the audience.
I will place the hourglass and premonition symbols in chapter summaries from here on to the end so you, the audience, will be given a heads-up.
