Chapter 1: When it all began

Summary:

rowan and MC identify with the same Label. Tonk wants to join them.

Chapter Text

The gang sat in the great hall for breakfast. It was the first day of spring.
“I want eggs,” Jae whined, “but all we ever have is these ridiculously giant sandwiches!”
These were the usual conversations at breakfast time.
“Seriously, how is this even healthy?” He continued but no one replied to him. Who has energy for anything in the morning? No one. Not even Tonks who usually loves this kind of chatting.
“Hm.. guys” Rowan suddenly said, after about seven minutes of silence, “remember when I asked you sometimes to refer to me as a boy? Well, I think I figured out why..”
It wasn’t really new to anyone. In the past few years, Rowan used to sometimes refer to themself as a boy and there were days when Rowan dressed more boyishly. When the gang was told to use boy pronounce, or girl, or anything else really they all did so. And when some of them asked Rowan about it, they never got an answer because Rowan didn’t know it yet. So now, they were all really happy to hear Rowan has found themselves.
“Apparently, there are lots of people like me out there, and it’s actually really common, I think. Anyway... I’m genderfluid..!” They smiled a little as the others congratulate them. Everyone except MC.
“That’s.. what I’ve been saying.. for years..” they said to a very confused Rowan, who has feared something like this might happen. “I know..." Rowan immediately said, "it’s just.. I needed to figure it out for myself, you know? So it won’t feel like this is who I am just because you said so..” they explained with a nervous smile. “And also... I didn’t want everyone to think I’m just copying you. only I can say how I identify. ”
“Oh... I.. never thought about it this way.. I’m sorry” MC apologized. They both hugged until Andre asked, confused, “so what does it mean then? What is genderfluid?”
“It means that I don’t feel like I’m just the one gender I was assigned as in my birth..” Rowan explained, “it changes sometimes. Depends on what feels right for me at the moment..”
“Hmm makes sense, I think” Andre replied.
“Understandable..” Bill added.
“Hey, what if I am too? Maybe??” Tonks suddenly burst into the conversation.
“That’s up to you, but..” MC tried to say but was cut off by Tonks announcement. “Then I’m also genderfluid!! Where do I sign up? Sign me in and call me whatever you want! Boy, girl, anything but Nymphadora!” She said loudly, standing on the sitting bench dramatically as the others just sigh, “dear lord why??”

Chapter 2: The morning news

Summary:

Ben realizes he doesn't share the same feeling as everybody else does. His friends aren't much of a help.

Chapter Text

“I was wrong,” Tonks said at another breakfast in the Great Hall, a week later. “I hate it when you refer to me as anything other than a girl..” she said, disappointed.
“Yeah, we figured it wasn’t you,” Tulip said, “but cheer up, you can still search and try to figure it all out”.
“Also, by understanding what you like and don’t like you're also figuring yourself out!” Penny added. Tonks smiled but still looked a bit sad.
“Today morning news brought to you by, me,” Andre said dramatically, although almost every morning he told them some news. “Apparently that couple we saw yesterday on their date near the lake has actually already slept together! Can you believe it?”
“Well good for them! They probably both felt the attraction a while ago before they even started dating” said Tulip.
“Oh, I constantly forget that people just feel the need to do that... I forgot that sexual attraction exists.” Ben mumbled, quietly.
Tulip gasped, “how can you forget it?? Have you never looked at someone and just really wanted to do it with them or something?”
“How can you be sure of it?” Ben asked, nervous, causing some eyebrows to be raised by his questions.
“You just.. know. you feel like.. how do I even explain that? It’s pretty much the same as it’s described in books.” Bill tried to explain, “but as I said, you just know.”
This made Ben even more confused. “I don’t think I understand,” he said quietly, “does it really matter in relationships?”
“That depends on the person, but mostly yeah,” they answered him lightly as if no one heard the worry in Ben’s questions. “I don’t think I ever felt like that.. oh no..”
“Don’t worry, one day you will!” Someone at the table said but Ben didn’t agree. “I really don’t think so..” he said, “but I still want to be in a relationship. It sounds interesting, once you get over the scary parts, of course..”
“Not everyone cares that much about attraction. There are different types of love!” Barnaby said, a bit excited. “The way creatures love each other is very different than humans. I’ve been watching some of them, well, mate, and it’s very interesting the way they show love!”
“Did you just called Ben a creature?” Talbott asked, amused.
“Oh of course not! Sorry, Ben!”
“I am a bit strange..” Ben said, laughing.
“Well, I know I’m definitely not, uh, whatever Ben is. I am very much attracted to others!”
And by that, breakfast was over.
Later, he discovered he’s what muggles call asexual. Lack of sexual attraction. It felt nice, knowing there’s a word for whatever he feels, but at the time it didn’t felt important to tell the others. He didn’t felt like he needs labels yet because feelings are hard to describe sometimes, but it doesn’t make them any less real.

Chapter 3: Front row quidditch sit

Summary:

when Penny chose to sit in the front row in the quidditch match - her friends already know why.

Chapter Text

“That game was amazing! You played so well!” Barnaby was excited as the gang walked outside the quidditch pitch.
“Next game is Ravenclaw against Gryffindor and you all know what it means..” Andre smiled mischievously, “I’m going to beat Charlie!”
“We’ll see about that!” Charlie laughed.
“Yeah, be careful, Andre, Charlie always wins, even against me!”
“I’ve seen you on a broom Bill and you’re honestly not that good” MC stated.
“Yeah, even that struggling Gryffindor kid is better than you!” Jae laughed.
“Oh, I love being roasted by little kids..” Bill muttered quietly.
“Guys wait!” Penny was running behind them, with shortness of breath as she finally catches up. “That was the best game ever!” She was excited.
“Where were you? We haven’t seen you in the game at all!” Rowan questioned
“I was sitting in the front row, had to have the best view, you know..”
“So you could see Skye Parkin as close as possible, right?” Tonks grinned, and the look on Penny’s face gave away the answer.
“Ooooo you like her! That’s good! I think.” Barnaby said, a bit confused but still excited.
“No, it’s not like that! I’m not, uh, gay or anything. I don’t like her that way, seriously!”
“Yeah, sure..” Andre said, “that’s what everyone says, you know..”
“I’m serious, I’m straight. It’s just... I wouldn’t mind dating her, you know? Just to experience..” she said quietly, a bit embarrassed.
“Aww that’s okay Pen, we won’t judge whatever you choose to do or whatever you feel, really.”
“Jee thanks” Penny was a bit annoyed. Sometimes her friends were like that. Too quick to jump to conclusions. But she loved them nevertheless.
“I- I gotta go, see you tomorrow” Bill suddenly rushed into the castle, leaving them behind.
“What’s up with him?” Jae asked.
“I have no idea,” Rowan said, “guess we’re going to find out tomorrow.”

Chapter 4: Open book

Summary:

Bill is very easy to read, Tonks wants to join him- well, to another thing.

Chapter Text

“Good morning everyone,” Bill said as he sat down for breakfast with his friends. “I have potions first thing in the morning and I’m not happy about it. Snape’s even meaner in the mornings.”
“Very sad, but why were you in a rush yesterday?” Rowan asked.
“Oh, that? Nothing. I didn’t think you’d remember.. uh, I just thought of something because of what Penny said and I realized I never told you that-”
“That you’re bisexual? Yeah Bill, everyone already knows that,” MC completed his sentence. “This is sooo old news.”
“Wait, what? How? I don’t remember telling you?”
“You talk very openly about both girls and boys, you know,” Charlie stated.
“And we’re very good at solving mysteries. You’re like an open book, Bill” MC continued
“That’s... Good. I think?” Bill didn’t expect it to go that way. He knew it wasn’t a big deal, but he didn’t think everyone already knows.
“Ha, congrats Bill!” Tonks said holding her hand up for a high five, “I think I’m might be bi too!”
“Have you ever had a crush on a girl?” Ben questioned and Tonks just shrugged, “not yet, but who knows!”
It was obvious to everyone but Tonks.
There’s nothing wrong with trying labels, though.

Chapter 5: past bi-trayal

Summary:

Tulip is still having trouble with her ex-friend, Merula. Maybe Tonk and MC can help her.

Chapter Text

“Ugh, here’s that traitor again. Have you found a way to turn your stupid frog into a prince? Or is that curse too difficult for you and your new friends to break?”
“Dennis is a toad, and shut up Merula,” Tulip muttered angrily, “it’s been years, let it go already.”
“What was that about?” MC asked when Tulip sat with them in the castle grounds.
“Just Merula being annoying. Nothing new.” Tulip shrugged but it was easy to tell it bothered her.
“Have you noticed she’s bullying you more often now? I wonder why..” Rowan said, thinking.
“She's probably just bored. Or in need of love, ha! Like anyone could ever love that dirty rat.” MC said, laughing, causing Tulip to get angry, “don’t say that! She’s not that bad!”
MC shook her head, “I can’t believe you’re still protecting her! It’s been almost three years! Are you in love with her or something?”
“What? No! Of course not! Why would you say that??” Tulip immediately jumped and MC just shrugged, “you talk about her a lot. She’s not your friend. You don’t need to defend her.”
“I know... it’s just... I just... I miss her..” tulip lowered her head. This was unexpected.
“What?! But she’s terrible! She’s-”
“I’m terrible!” Tulip burst, “I’m the one who betrayed her! She’s been a supportive friend and I just left her for no reason!”
“She was awful, you’ve seen how she treated Barnaby!” MC yelled back, “you don’t owe her anything!”
“She and I have many things in common, you know,” Tulip answered quietly, “whatever you think of her, remember I’m just as bad as she is.”
silence fell between the four of them.
“This turned into a fight quickly,” Tonks stated, “I think she’s in love with you.”
“Ha, I wish.. by this point, she won’t ever forgive me.”
“Y-you wish?? Not to be homophobic or something but this is Merula we’re talking about!” MC was surprised again.
“Yes! Join me and be bi! Unless you’re a full-on lesbian and then I can’t join you but that’s okay too!” Tonks said excitedly
“I... I Don’t know..” she hesitated, “there’s just.. something I can’t figure out yet.. something about her just makes me wish for more? Maybe I’m just too obsessed with her because of the failed friendship we had and whatever connection we have now. maybe I'm just hoping for closure... I don’t know if I even care about dating. it’s just..”
“I’m sorry for yelling, Tulip.” MC apologized, “I still don’t like her but, whatever it is you’re feeling, I fully support you.”
“T-thanks... I’m going back to my dorm now..”
And despite the fact that MC hated Merula, they turned to Tonks with a mischievous look, “do you think what I’m thinking?”
Tonks returned them a look and grinned, “we should definitely set them up!”

Chapter 6: Pretty boy

Summary:

Andre is trying to work on sketching ideas for new designs, but having trouble focusing.
Diego and Barnaby aren't really helping.

Chapter Text

Andre sat alone near the fountain in the courtyard, sketching ideas for new designs, trying to decide on fabrics, but keep getting distracted. There were too many students around who caught his eyes, especially boys. But luckily, Diego and Barnaby just passed by and decided to sit next to him.
“A pretty outfit for a pretty boy”, Diego smirked. Andre was used to his flirting but still couldn’t control the way his body always reacted. “Thank you, it’s still not finished, though.”
“Who’s that outfit for?” Diego asked.
“And what is it for! Like, can you go to the minister of magic with it? Or, or- duel with it!” Barnaby added, making both him and Diego excited.
“It looks perfect for dueling if you are the winner, of course!” Diego grinned.
“I still need to work on it... I just can’t really focus here..” Andre sight.
“Why? Too many hot people for you?” Diego teased him.
“Actually yes. For once you’re right.”
Barnaby felt confused about the direction the conversation took, "wh-what are we talking about?“ he asked.
"Boys,” Diego said.
“I never said boys,” Andre stated.
“Yes, but, boys.” Diego said again, and this time Andre agreed, “boys.”
“I like this word. Boys. Sounds nice to say.”
“But do you like a boy?” Diego tried to question.
“Well I like you, and all of our friends of course, and Ben is also nice-”
“Ben! Great! Date him then!”
“Wha- why? Is it something people really do? What does it even matter? What’s the difference between a friend and a- a date? Why would yo-”
“Barnaby, honey, you’re not that oblivious,” Andre said.
“But how do you even know you want it? I don’t know if you noticed but I’m usually confused about many many things, so..”
“You just, you just know... you see a boy- or a girl, whatever- and you feel like you wanna know them more, in a different way than friendship, ugh how do I explain this??” Andre had a short temper and was completely done with this conversation.
“No need to get angry, friend” Diego calmed him down. “Give it time, Barnaby. It’s totally okay to be confused” he said while petting Andre’s hair.
“Yeah I don’t mind being confused,” Barnaby shrugged, “not knowing things is kind of my thing.”
“That’s the spirit!” Diego cheered, “now let’s get Andre out of here so he can keep working and stop being a creep, watching other boys.”

Chapter 7: Sweet sixteen

Summary:

Charlie's upset. it seems like he's missing out on certain things and feelings. it seems like he's the only one who's different. and it takes a lot of work and time to accept it all and understand it's never a bad thing to be you.

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Another morning around the table in the great hall. Sandwiches, as usual. This time, it started with a very exciting announcement by MC.
“I just want to remind you all that my birthday is in two months!” They said, standing on their chair, “thanks for coming to my talk.” And they sat down.
“How old are you gonna be?” Jae asked.
“sixteen, obviously,” MC said.
“Ha, sixteen,” Tonks smiled, “more like SEXTEEN! Am I right?”
This earned some laughs from the gang but some uncomfortable faces too. “Did you know that sixteen is, in most countries, is the age of consent? From this age, you can agree to any sexual activity and it’s all legal!” Tonks continued to explain and then added, “Well, except pedophilia, of course. But just like I said, IT’S THE AGE OF SEX!”
“Yeyy… Sex...” Ben commented, not excited at all.
“No, you’re saying it wrong. You’re supposed to say, YEY SEX!” Bill laughed.
“Seriously, what’s so amazing about it anyway?” Charlie asked, a little embarrassed.
“Awww sweet little innocent Charlie doesn’t know what sex is,” Bill teased him, making Charlie frown.
“Don’t you just feel like, the need for it sometimes?” Tonks asked, “don’t you look at people and just get really flustered and all of a sudden just.. feel attracted to them?”
“Is it really how you all feel? Do you actually feel like you need it so badly and all the other ways people describe such things? Is it all true?”
Tonks shrugged and took a bite from her sandwich, “pretty much, yeah.”
Charlie could feel himself starting to panic, even though he already knew all of this information. But it always hurt to realize how different he actually is.
It’s like in all the places he’s been he has never in his life felt like he fits in. Not in the burrow, back at home. Not in Hogwarts, with his friends.
It was a hard thing to know and realize.
All the time he was convinced he’s straight, since he never liked boys, not like that. But he didn’t like girls either, of course.
“You’ve never had a crush on anyone?” Rowan asked, a bit flustered.
“Never.” He replied, a bit sad.
“Lucky you,” said MC, “it’s the worst thing!”
“But also the best” added Diego, which only confused Charlie more.
“I just want to be normal, you know?” Charlie played with the food on his plate, avoiding eye contact. “I’m always the strange one. I hate to think that there are feelings that I’ll never feel. Things that I’m missing out.”
“But that’s alright, Charlie. It’s not a bad thing to be different. Everyone is a little different, and you’re you! And we love you for that.” Bill tried to comfort him.
“Sometimes being you just.. isn’t enough.”
“Don’t say that! There are so many great things about you, Charlie! Romance and sex aren’t everything in life!” Tonks said.
“Also you’re not alone!” Ben said, “lack of sexual and romantic attraction is called being aromantic asexual. And I’m pretty sure I’m somewhere on that scale too.” He smiled.
Charlie felt a bit happier and relieved. The road to acceptance is a long journey, but having this amount of support from his friends had already brought him halfway there.

Notes:

ok this is one of my favourite chapters. aroace Charlie ftw!

Chapter 8: All the Gryffindor boys are…

Summary:

Liz finds herself sitting with the troublemakers in the library, and for the first time, having a conversation about labels.

Chapter Text

Liz couldn’t remember why she was in the library.
One of her friends probably suggested doing another research about the cursed vaults, and Liz always loved to read books about creatures she hasn’t seen yet.
But she thought, maybe she should be more active in the group, more talkative.
She was just too spacy to notice things around her. And so she tried, closed her book about rare winged creatures, and asked, “what are you talking about?”
Biiiiig mistake.
“Liz! Just the person I wanted to see!” MC said as if Liz wasn’t sitting with them the entire time.
“They’re trying to help Tonks,” Jae said and MC agreed with him, “yes, we are looking for more attractions and genders so she can find one that fits her the best! So if you could tell us how you define yourself that would be great!”
“Wha- I... I never thought about it..?” It was the first time she was a part of a conversation like this.
“But you think all the time! You must have thought about it at least one time!” Tonks said.
“I think about many things I like..” Liz answered, “like creatures. I guess I don’t really care nor understand romance..”
“So you’re aromantic! Cool!” Tulip said, “I mean, only if you see yourself as aromantic.. only you can say..”
Liz looked at her, wondered how come she was in the library with the most trouble maker kids.
“But I do like boys, of course... I am a girl,” she said.
“That’s… a bit old thinking Liz.. you don’t have to like boys just because you’re a girl,” tulip said, a bit offended.
“Oh, sorry! I didn’t mean it like that!” She apologized, “I guess it's just new to me, thats all..." she felt embarrassed, she wasn't experienced in having conversations with kids around her age. "Is it possible to like boys but not romantically? Because I guess that’s what I am?” she asked.
“Sounds like aromantic heterosexual,” Jae said, “but you don’t have to decide just yet, you can take your time and think.”
Liz smiled, a bit nervous. She didn’t need labels but it was good to know there are ways to simplify her feelings. “thanks. How do you know all of it?”
“I’m a business man. I go around, I meet people, I see the world.”
Tulip laughed at the ‘man’ part. “Yeah, right,”
Jae ignored her. “Also, I’m kind of the opposite of you,” he told Liz, pointing at himself, “I’m asexual biromantic.”
“Woah really? That’s cool! Another bi! Yeasss!” Tonks cheered to a skeptical Jae.
“Also,” MC added, “now all the Gryffindor boys in our year are aces!”
“You do know there are more Gryffindor boys than just your friends, right?” Jae said.
“So is it a house thing? Is that why the sorting hat put you all in Gryffindor?” MC continued.
“Please just shut up and let’s go” Jae groaned, “you know I hate the library.
"Whatever you say, nerd,” MC said as they all left the library, except for Liz who kept reading her book.

Chapter 9: Flirting

Summary:

flirting is better than insults, especially if you happen to like everyone.

Chapter Text

“Beautiful morning ladies, gentlemen, and anyone in between.” Diego greeted everyone on another morning in the Great Hall. Sandwiches as usual.
“Ugh, why do you have to be so extra.” for some reason, Andre always got mad at Diego.
“Because I can, friend. Because I can,” Diego replied, “you look very handsome today, have you done something with your hair?”
“Pleeeease stop..” Andre mumbled, his head facing the table.
“Ha, works every time,” Diego said as he sat down at the table.
“I don’t think I will ever understand you,” MC said.
“What’s there to understand? Being confident is the perfect way to confuse everyone.” He answered, “seriously, flirting with people is so much better than offending them”
“Sure..”
“Just the expressions everyone has worth it, but I’m not just playing! I simply like people,” he explained.
“Ooo can I simply like people too?” Tonks chimed in, as usual.
“Whatever you want, love.”
“It’s called being pansexual, or panromantic for the matter,” Jae explained, “seriously am I the only one who actually knows this stuff?”
“that’s only because you’re a nerd,” MC said, making him frown.
“What’s the definition of this word, Jae? Please explain!” Rowan asked curiously.
“Well, it basically means you’re attracted to people regardless of their gender... it’s different than bi because you’re not attracted to two genders, but to all.”
“This is so interesting! I wish we had a class that’ll teach us all that stuff!” Rowan said.
“Pfft that’s too much to ask, we don’t even get sex Ed..” Andre said and Charlie mumbled, “lucky for me..”
“I think I’m pan too!!” Tonks said excitedly, “sounds more fitting to me than bi!”
“That sounds right for me too,” Diego said, “people are great, isn’t love just the best?”
“Ah-ha”
“Yeah”
“Whatever you say”
“..friend”
They all teased him.

Chapter 10: Straight as macaroni

Summary:

Tonks and MC trying to figure out a way to help Tulip and Merula get along better.

Chapter Text

“So what do you think is the best way to find out if Merula’s even into girls?” MC asked, they were sitting with tonks in an empty classroom, planning how to set up Merula and Tulip.
“Ask her?” Tonks suggested.
“No way! She will never tell us,” MC said, “but I’m pretty sure Ismelda still owes me after I helped her with her crush on Barnaby..”
“Helped her? You literally stole him from her!”
MC shrugged, “not my fault he likes me.”, they said “but at least we know she has a heart! And also probably straight..”
“True, true..”
“I think I saw her near the black lake..” MC said, “let’s go talk to her!”
Halfway there MC suddenly stopped walking.
“I have a better idea,” they said, “I’ll ask her alone, you stay behind somewhere. If she refuses to tell me just use your Metamorphmagus power to look like Merula and convince her to answer me.”
Tonks agreed, “even better!” and so, MC went ahead to the black lake, alone.
“Heyyy Ismelda.. whatcha doiiin’?” MC asked Ismelda who was in the middle of hexing a rock.
“None of your business,” she muttered behind her bangs.
“Yeah okay. Remember that time I helped you with your crush? I need a little favor, you kinda own me here soooo..”
“Ugh, please stop remind me that.” Ismelda said, “what do you want??”
“I was just wondering if you could tell me what is Merula’s sexual and or romantic attraction please?” MC asked and then added, “asking for a friend haha.”
“Just ask her yourself. I’m not giving her secrets away so back off.”
“But you oweeee me!”
“No, I don’t. You barely even helped me in the end. ” She stopped hexing the rock, “whatever, you can stay. I’m going back to the castle.”
“Why are you talking to MC, Ismelda?” Merula was suddenly standing behind them.
For a moment MC was scared that it really is Merula, but she winked at them, making it clear that it's actually Tonks.
Ismelda frowned. “they were asking about your attractions but I didn’t say anything, I swear!”
“It’s alright, Ismelda, I don’t mind you telling them I am as straight as macaroni!”
“It’s... really not straight..”
“Whatever, just please remind me to never wear that makeup again. Horrible.” And as she left she yelled, “curse you, MC!”
“I don’t know what just happened..” Ismelda said, “weird, she always said she was straight, denied anything else really.. but she talks about girls a lot..” she said it more to herself than MC.
“Well, that was a good talk! Bye now!” and MC walked back to where they sat with Tonks before.
as soon as MC saw Tonk, waiting there, they both laughed.
“That was brilliant! And a bit confusing,” MC said, “Ismelda admitted Merula talks about girls very often..”
“And also have a crush on Jacob..”
“Yeah... So not a lesbian? Just bi? Pan?”
“Speaking of Jacob what do you think his labels are? Like, who will he sleep with?”
“Ew, Tonks! That my brother we’re talking about!”
Tonks shrugged and continued with their plan, “How are we going to set them up now?”
“I feel bad about it.. maybe we should let them take it slow..” MC admitted.
No way! We can make it work!“
"Yeah, but... I don’t want to hurt Tulip. Just like we’re not helping Penny with her maybe crush, we shouldn’t do it with her either.”
“Then maybe you should talk to Merula? Say something subtle about, well, all of this?” Tonks suggested.
And so after dinner, they did.
“Heyyy Merula... I’m going to make it quick ‘cause I have no interest in talking to you, but, you should know Tulip really is sorry for betraying you or whatever.”
Merula was surprised, “and..? Why would I care..?”
“Look, Merula. We both know you’re not that innocent yourself. So stop bullying her for something she obviously feels bad about. I don’t know what happened between you two but it takes more than one person to ruin a friendship.”
“Yeah, her and Denis. But fine, only because I still respect her. Even though it ended I still don’t regret being her friend,” Merula said, “but! Don’t tell anyone I said it! Or I’ll use the killing curse on you. And her. And all of your friends too.” She was kind of blushing. But again, it was hard to be sure why...
MC didn’t know if that conversation changed anything but the next morning Tulip seemed to be a bit happier and that was enough for now.

Chapter 11: Quidditch talk

Summary:

MC finally finds some time to relax and chat with their Quidditch friends.

Chapter Text

It was one of those rare days where MC wasn’t busy. It was also right after another quidditch practice, which is why MC decided to just chill and lie on the grass with their quidditch friends.
“That was a really good practice! We’re definitely gonna win the next match!” Skye said. Quidditch was kind of her favorite thing in the entire world.
“The weather is so nice I just want to lie here forever.” Murphy hummed.
“I can’t remember the last time I had a quiet day..” MC smiling.
“Feels weird to finish a practice and not go and talk with the fans..” Skye said.
“What fans? This was a practice, not a game.” MC answered.
“So? Face paint kid’s always there. And Penny, for some odd reason too.”
“That’s only because she has a crush on you,” MC said and immediately put both hands on their mouth. “I wasn’t supposed to say that..”
“Yeah, I know..”
“You know?”
“It’s really obvious. Anyone can tell,” Orion commented.
“She’s really cute, and I totally understand anyone who likes girls, 'cause they’re all adorable. But as for now, I’m only into guys so..”
“Ha, I thought you’re only into quidditch and breaking stuff,” Murphy said. “Also, as someone who likes girls, I totally agree with you. Girls really are adorable and cute.”
“Do you think you like girls because you love your mum so much?” Skye asked, playfully.
“See, that is some twisted thought you have,” Murphy said, laughing.
“Hey, guys! Sorry for interrupting but that was a really good practice! Are you excited for the game next week?” Face paint kid suddenly stood in front of them.
“Shhh, we’re just chilling now, you can join us on the grass if you want,” MC said, pointing to the ground.
“That seems fun! What were you talking about?” They asked as they lied on the grass next to Orion.
“We were just talking about our sexualities, Orion was about to tell us his labels, other than being trans, of course.”
“I do not believe in labels, I believe in the feelings that are buried deep down our hearts.”
“Yeah, he’s gay,” Murphy said and Orion didn’t argue.
“Woah, another trans at Hogwarts! I thought me, Rowan and MC were the only ones!” Face paint kid said, excitedly, “well, non-binary, but it’s close enough!” And even though no one commented on their sentences, they continued to talk anyway. “I don’t really know how to define myself other than that so I just go with queer! For me, it means that I know I’m not straight, but none of the other labels feels right for me. So I just generally identify with the lgbtq+ community!” They explained.
“That’s an interesting label! I’m going to tell Tonks about it, she’s searching for a label for some reason..” MC said.
“That’s cool! Not many people in our world are actually trying to find themselves!” Face paint kid said with a smile.
“Finding ourselves is an important part of the journey to peace,” Orion added.
“I feel like Tonks really helped so many of our friends to find themselves on her own journey to peace, or whatever it is you were saying.” MC said, “but I’ll talk to her later.. I already feel at peace right now."

Chapter Text

“I’m here, I might be queer, and I have an important message to say!” Tonks announced one morning, finally willing to update her friends about her labels.
“After I’ve heard about all of your labels I had a realization, and I’m about to tell you what it is, but-” she dramatically stopped, “first of all three people in this table who have been very quiet lately… Need to tell me their labels as well!”
Everyone at the table looked around, trying to find the three people Tonks referred to. Everyone except those three...
“I’m talking about you.. Talbott, Chiara, Badeea!” Tonks pointed at the three.
“What, us? I don’t know…” Chiara said, playfully.
“I’ve spent so much time with MC that I kinda want to become a mystery myself..” Badeea said, witty, and MC groaned.
“Oh come on! I hate unsolved mysteries!” They whined, “based on your art it can be.. anything! Everything! Nothing!”
Badeea didn’t respond, she just gave everyone her sweet little smile.
It was very unlike her but Chiara already spoke up and everyone forgot for a while the frustration of Badeea’s answer.
“Ha! Good luck figuring out my labels! If you do, please let me know because I myself don’t know..” she giggled.
“This conversation is so ridiculous..” Tulip said, amused.
“Okay Talbott, you better have a good answer or I swear!” MC said but didn’t finish their threat.
“Come on guys, don’t pressure them to come out!” Penny tried to defend them, unsuccessfully.
“I think I need to find how I feel about friendships first..” Talbott said, “and have a stable one too..”
“Wha-! Our friendship is the best!” MC said, a bit offended.
“Yeah… Sure.”
“So what’s your message, Tonks?” Andre asked, curious.
“I did not get an answer from those three yet.” She said, frowning.
“Seriously? It’s so obvious!” Jae said and stood up, “Talbott is probably demiromantic and demisexual.. which means he needs to have a strong connection with someone before he’ll develop feelings.” He gestured toward Talbott who just shrugged.
“Badeea might be pan, if you ask me. But she’s right, it is a mystery when it comes to her..” Badeea made smiled in victory.
“And I believe Chiara definitely likes girls, but I do hope she’s into boys too.” He winked at her and she looked away, embarrassed.
“Wow, you’re good,” Rowan whispered, impressed.
“Okay, fine! I’ll tell you my announcement!” Tonks yelled, “in about… Eight hours!”
Everyone groaned.
“I’m kidding, I’m kidding!” Tonks laughed, “anyway... I gathered you all here because…”
“Just say it already!” Diego shouted.
Tonks built the tension very well and everyone were really curious.
“Okay, okay, sorry.. so anyway I’m..” she breathed in, stealing another moment of suspense, “Hetero.”
“What?”
“I’m straight!”
“Wooo, congrats!” Ben cheered, along with Liz, Penny, and Chiara, but their voices got lost in the gasps of the others.
“No!!” MC screamed.
“How could you??!” Charlie added, dramatically.
“We are very disappointed in you!” Tulip chimed in and bill added, “we did not raise you like that!”
“I know, I know!” Tonks went on with the act, “please forgive me, maybe I’m just meant to be the token straight of this group…”
“Are there really no other straights here?” Talbott wondered.
“Nah-ha,” Jae said, “some are partly hetero but none of us is actually straight.”
“Wow, that’s.. very unlikely!” Rowan said, “I mean, statistically it doesn’t make sense..”
“So anyway.. that’s it, guys. This is my label.. thank you all for the help!” Tonks smiled.
“We’re happy for you!” Badeea said.
“And you actually helped us too in the process, so thanks to you as well,” Liz said, smiling.
“Wooo! Let’s go celebrate! Throw a party and scream "I’m gay” around the castle! Come on, come on, come on!!“ MC screamed, energetically, as the others just sighed, disappointedly,
"dear lord why..”
