Chapter Text
"Are you ready for your new school, Sehun?" Mrs Oh asked, as Sehun walked into the kitchen.
"Kind of," he answered, adjusting to tuck in his shirt, "Are you sure the teachers and the principle don't mind me being you know what?"
"Yes, I'm sure," she replied, "I've shown them the legal documents for your name change and the dosage for your T. They are also going to allow you to have a set time to take the dosage. You'll be able to take it during sport on Wednesday."
"Thank you, eomma," he thanked, feeling happy that he was finally able to live as the boy that he always knew he was.
To give a little backstory, Sehun wasn't born a male, he was actually born as a female with the name of Hei-Ran. But, from a young age, he never felt like a female and has always felt like a male. When he was a child, he absolutely hated going to the girl section of every store, the girl's uniform, the girls toys, the way he talked, everything. He would immediately run to the boy's section, wear the boys uniform, play with toys that was meant for boys, everything. And he was also extremely gender dysphoric, even for a young child. His mother and father were worried about their "daughter" being more masculine than feminine. So, they took him to a psychiatrist and a psychologist to get an explanation for what was going on. Sehun, being seven years old at the time, came out as trans. Being the supportive parents that they were, they supported Sehun's decision to take testosterone and to have top surgery. He got his name changed to Sehun and his family had started using the he/him/his pronouns, making Sehun extremely happy.
"Have a good day at your new school," his mother told him, "And remember, you don't have to come out to others straight away."
"Only come out when I want to," Sehun continued, "And only when I feel comfortable enough to come out."
"That's my boy," she replied, "Here's your lunch by the way."
"Thanks, eomma," he thanked, taking the lunch box and put it in his bag. He gave his mother a quick hug before walking out the front door, making his way to school as it wasn't that far from home. Butterflies were flying around his stomach, feeling extremely nervous about his new school. What if another student immediately finds out that he is a female to male transgender? What if those students tease him about it and make fun of him for it? He didn't want to think about it as he would cause him to be dysphoric again and he knew that he didn't to be dysphoric. It was hard enough to deal with dysphoria when he was a female and he certainly didn't want to feel it again. He went to the end of the street, looked both ways and walked across the street. He had to cross a total of three more streets before arriving to his school.
He stepped onto the school grounds and saw many students hanging around in different areas of the school. Each friend group was different from the other. The friend groups were either completely males, completely females or generally mixed.
"Are you Sehun?" someone asked, making Sehun turn to face the voice. He assumed that it was the principle as she was well dressed.
"Yes, that's me," he answered.
"Well, welcome to our school, Sehun," she welcomed, with a big smile on her face, "I'm Mrs Choi. Has your mum told you about when you can take your testosterone?"
"Yes, she has," he replied, "She said I can take it during sport on Wednesday."
"That's good," Mrs Choi told him, "This is your schedule along with your homeroom. Follow me so then you know where your homeroom is." Sehun followed the principle to his homeroom, noticing that along the way, he was getting looks from the girls and he could hear giggles coming from them as well.
"Is that the new guy?" one asked.
"I think so," another answered.
"Look how buff he is," someone else replied, "He must really work out." Well, he thought, It's a mixture of working out and taking T. He wanted to say that, but, he didn't feel comfortable with saying that just yet, especially since it was his first day of the new school. He followed the principle into a building and into a classroom, revealing a teacher in the classroom with a few students sitting at desks.
"Hello, Mr Lee," Mrs Choi greeted, bowing to the teacher at the teacher's desk.
"Hello, Mrs Choi," the male teacher greeted back, getting up from his chair and bowed, "This must be the new student."
"Yes, this is Sehun," she replied, pausing when Sehun and Mr Lee bowed to each other. She then leaned forward and made sure to go into a whisper.
"He is a female to male transgender," she whispered, "Make him feel as comfortable as possible."
"Sure will," Mr Lee replied, "Have a seat, Sehun." Sehun nodded, as he looked around the classroom for an open seat. He spotted one seat open next to a male who looked like he had an athletic body type/build. He walked over to the open seat, pulled the seat out from under the desk and sat down, placing his bag down under the desk. The boy he was sitting next to him turned to face Sehun, wanting to greet the new student to the school and wanted to make him feel comfortable and welcome.
"Hello, I'm Baekhyun," he said, catching Sehun's attention, "But, a lot of people call me either Baek or Bacon."
"I'm Sehun," Sehun replied, "Why do people call you bacon?"
"Because, my name sounds similar to bacon," Baekhyun responded.
"Ah, makes sense," Sehun replied, realising the comparison between his name and the food.
"You're welcome to hang out with my group at lunch," the older told the student, "That's if you would like to."
"I'll think about it," Sehun replied. First day at the new school and someone was already inviting him to hang out with their friend group. Yet, the older didn't even know that the new student was trans who went through the whole transition from having delayed puberty blockers and hormone therapy to having surgery and having his name legally changed. Baekhyun turned to face the front again, ending the conversation there.
Sehun looked around him, seeing that there were a few girls looking at him and whispered to their friends while giggling as well as blushing when Sehun looked at them. Was the injection of testosterone really making him look like a proper male? At least the testosterone was doing it's job.
Chapter Text
The room fell silent as Mr Lee had began to take the role of the homeroom. There were some students that were whispering, Sehun finding that it was mainly the girls that were whispering. He could barely hear what they were saying, but, he knew that they were gossiping about someone as they kept on giggling. He looked around the room, looking at the girls that were giggling which caused them to stop instantly and wave at him while blushing. Sehun just gave them a little smile and waved, which made them giggle more and blush hard. Sehun looked back at the front of the room, feeling a little weird that they were giggling about something. He began to think. The girls that he had seen so far and the things that he had heard from them were directed towards him and to no one else. Was the testosterone that he was taking really that effective? Was the surgeries that he had that allowed him to have a flat chest and having a packer look that was convincing? Was it the masculine name that he had chose? Or was it everything combined together? It must be everything combined because if it was just one singular thing, he would still look or seem feminine.
Just the thought of being or looking feminine made him feel slightly dysphoric. The whole point of transitioning was to make him feel comfortable in his own body, even if it meant that he had to have hormone blockers, getting top surgery when the blockers wore off, get put on testosterone before the surgery and get his name changed on his birth certificate. The only thing that he needed to go through is the gender recognition certificate and bottom surgery. Well, he didn't need to go through the gender recognition certificate, but, he wanted to go through with it. He hasn't gone through it yet because he was a little scared of being rejected of not being recognised as his true gender.
"Sehun? Sehun?" he heard someone say, as well as hearing clicking near his ear. It was Baekhyun who was clicking near his ear and Mr Lee who was calling out his name.
"Hm? Oh sorry," Sehun apologised, "Here." He heard his voice crack when stating that he was in class. He internally freaked out when he heard his voice crack. Out of all the times his voice could've cracked, it had to crack now. He slouched down a little bit, feeling embarrassed that his voice had cracked in front of the peers of his homeroom that he would be in for the rest of the year and possibly to the day he would graduate. He was more concerned that someone would find out that he was a female to male transgender because of continuous voice cracking while every other guy in his class would've finished puberty by now.
"Are you ok there, Sehun?" Baekhyun asked, noticing that Sehun had slouched.
"Yep," Sehun answered, smiling a little bit, "I'm as good as I will ever be."
"Are you slouching because your voice cracked?" the older male asked, "You know that is nothing to be embarrassed about. You know that some of the girls behind us found it cute that your voiced cracked. Before you ask, I could hear them. They really weren't talking that quietly." Baekhyun pointed to the girls behind them, causing Sehun to turn around to look to see who the other male was talking about. The girls that were sitting behind them waved as him and Baekhyun made eye contact with them. Sehun waved back that them, again finding that the girls were blushing. Why do the girls here keep blushing when he waves at them? Maybe its just because he wasn't out as trans here. Maybe they'll stop when they find out that he is trans, but, it didn't really matter to him as he was gay and didn't really find girls attractive anyway.
"Sehun, can I ask you a question?" one of them asked.
"Sure," he answered, as he turned around a bit more.
"Why did your voice crack?" she asked, "Are you nervous or something? It was cute though."
"Thanks," he began, "And no, I'm not nervous. I don't know why my voice cracked."
"Maybe you were subconsciously nervous," another girl responded. It's actually the testosterone that I inject into my thigh once a week but I'll just go with your answer for now, Sehun thought.
"Maybe," Sehun responded, causing the girls to go into a small giggling fit. Sehun and Baekhyun chuckled with them, just until Mr Lee told them to stop giggling since the teacher for their first session will be coming in soon. Both Sehun and Baekhyun stopped chuckling and turned to face the front once again, trying so hard not to chuckle again. Sehun tried so hard not to chuckle that he actually forgot what he was chuckling about. Eventually, he stopped feeling the urge to chuckle, so he was finally able to breathe evenly and normally. Baekhyun however was still trying to stop the urge.
"Mr Baekhyun," Mr Lee stated, staring directly at the student, "Do you need to go outside to take a break?"
"I might need to," Baekhyun responded, as he got up from his seat and walked out of the classroom to catch his breath as well as to stop chuckling. Well, this is a great start to a new school, Sehun thought, as small smile appeared on his face. He hadn't been at this school for even a day, yet, he was feeling accepted and having a good time so far. He was passing extremely well so far, he had already been invited to sit and hang out with Baekhyun and his friends during recess and lunch, took a compliment from a girl despite being gay. And that had just been since he had arrived to the homeroom a few minutes ago. Mr Lee and Mrs Choi were very accepting so far too. His teachers and students at his other school weren't really accepting of him when he first starting to transition. At that school, he was being teased by students, both students and teachers used the 'she/her' pronouns and used his dead name, Hei-ran. He had tried multiple times that his pronouns had changed and so had his name changed, even his mum had shown the teachers and the principal the updated birth certificate but that didn't work. So, that was the main reason why he had moved schools recently. The bullying was becoming too much for Sehun to take and it was becoming ridiculous.
Sehun considered himself lucky that he had moved to a school that was very accepting that he was trans such as using his preferred and now legal name, using the 'he/him/his' pronouns, allowing him to take his weekly testosterone injection on Wednesday during sport and by not outing him to the other students. He smiled a little more at how lucky he was. He looked over at the door as he had spotted two people walking into the classroom, one of them being Baekhyun and the other being a teacher. Mr Lee got up from his chair and walked around the desk, bowing to the teacher that walked into the classroom.
"Good morning, Mrs Kim," Mr Lee greeted, as he bowed, "You do have a new student. His name is Sehun." He then whispered something into Mrs Kim's ear. Sehun knew that Mr Lee was mentioning to the other teacher that he was trans and Sehun was happy that the male teacher wasn't doing it out loud and was doing it in a safe way.
"Ah, ok, thanks for letting me know," Mrs Kim told Mr Lee as he had walked out. Mrs Kim sat down on the chair that Mr Lee had sat down on before, placing her stuff on the desk. Sehun assumed that it was time to start the first session as everyone was getting their school things out. He looked at the school schedule that Mrs Choi had given him and got his pencil case and appropriate school books. It was time to start learning something.
Chapter Text
The subject that Mrs Kim was teaching was health, which meant that the class would be learning about mental health, physical health, sexual health and possibly driving. Sehun had heard that he would be learning about driving at school at some point. He watched as Mrs Kim went up to the whiteboard and picked up the green whiteboard marker, beginning to write something on the whiteboard. He couldn’t really see what the teacher was writing on the board, but neither could the rest of the class. It wasn’t until Mrs Kim had moved out of the way when they saw what she had written. Sehun read what was on the board, seeing that it had read ‘sex education’. Sehun felt himself become uncomfortable when seeing those words, remembering what he had been told by the doctor when getting his testosterone. He was told that the testosterone would affect his fertility. Sehun didn’t know how he would feel about sexual education but he would have to deal with it for a few weeks as it was apart of the curriculum and there was no way to get out of it, even if he told Mrs Kim that he was uncomfortable with it. By the sounds of the students around him, he could tell that they were uncomfortable as well. At least there were a few students that were uncomfortable.
Some of the students cringed, others giggled immaturely while some others gave no reaction. He looked forward again when Mrs Kim had started to speak. Hearing her speak made the class stop cringing and immaturely giggling, allowing themselves to focus on what Mrs Kim was and is about to say.
”I know this will be an uncomfortable thing to talk about,” Mrs Kim began, “But, it is something that needs to be discussed. This is why we will be doing sex education first so then it can be over and done with. So, what is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the words ‘sex education’?” No one in the class said anything nor did they put their hand up. No one wanted to say what the first thing that appeared in their minds, a little afraid that they might get into trouble if they spoke it out loud.
"Come on, guys and girls," Mrs Kim stated, "There must be something that comes to mind when you hear 'sex education'. You won't get into trouble. This is apart of the curriculum. This is probably going to be the only time you will get to say anything in free will. But, within reason please." As soon as the teacher had said this, a few students began to raise their hands, including Baekhyun.
"Finally, some hands have been risen," the teacher continued, a smile appearing on her face, "Ok, we'll start with you Baekhyun, then you Jungkook and Chaeyoung, you can go after Jungkook. Baekhyun, you can start."
"STDs?" the student questioned, as he put his hand down. Mrs Kim gave him a little bit of praise as she drew a line from the headline on the board and wrote 'stds' at the end of it, looking over at the other two students who had also put their hands up. Jungkook had mentioned sexual activity and Chaeyoung mentioned using protection when doing said sexual activity. Each time a student had said something that related to sex education, Mrs Kim would draw a line on the board and write what the student had said. Sehun would then copy the things from the board into his work book, looking both up and down every time Mrs Kim had written something. As he began to write down the next thing, he felt a gentle tap on his shoulder. He looked over towards the side of where he felt the gentle tap, seeing that it had come from where Baekhyun was sitting. He assumed that it was Baekhyun had made the gentle tap.
"Do you mind if I copy the notes after you're done?" he asked, whispering, "I have a feeling that after writing everything up, she'll erase it after five minutes and I wouldn't written it all in time."
"Yes, you may," Sehun answered, also whispering, "Also, you could've stopped at 'do you mind if I copy the notes after you're done?'"
"Thanks," the older whispered, chuckling a little bit. Sehun looked back at the whiteboard, writing down the new things that he saw on the board. Mrs Kim stopped writing anything on the whiteboard once majority of the things that was mentioned and when she stopped writing, she told the class that all, if not majority of the things on the whiteboard will be taught through out the term.
"Make sure you write this down," Mrs Kim stated, "Because I will erase it soon." As soon as she said this, Sehun passed his work book to Baekhyun, allowing him to copy straight from the work book. Baekhyun looked between his own work book and Sehun's work book, making sure that he was writing the correct things and spelling them the right way. He was halfway through copying from Sehun’s work book when Mrs Kim had began to erase what she had wrote on the board. Baekhyun knew that he would have to be more careful as he could get into trouble for what seemed like not paying attention. He continued to copy from the younger’s work book, making sure that he looked up as frequently as he possibly could since he didn’t want to get into trouble. He copied everything from Sehun’s workbook into his own, passing the work book back to Sehun once he was done.
”Thank you,” Baekhyun thanked, whispering.
”You’re welcome,” Sehun responded, whispering as he took his workbook back from the other student. He placed the work book back in front of him and looked back up at the teacher, who had started talking about sexual activity. Sehun felt a little uncomfortable about the subject. He wanted to do the gender recognition certificate but he was a little nervous to do the certificate because he was scared of the possibility of being rejected of being nationally recognised as male. Even though he considered the gender recognition certificate to be the last part of his transition, he would still have to inject himself with testosterone every week, but he was fine with that. He brought himself out of the thought as Mrs Kim began to talk about what is considered consent and what was considered sexual abuse or harassment. The teacher had began to write something in the board.
”Don’t write this down yet,” Mrs Kim stated, as she drew two columns on the board. Above one of the columns, she wrote ‘consent’ and above the other columns, she wrote ‘sexual harassment/abuse’.
”Consent,” she continued, “This is when sexual activity is agreed upon by both people. Sexual harassment or abuse is the opposite to this. This is when one person engages in sexual activity but does not ask for consent from the other person. Sexual harassment or abuse can range from forcing the other person into sexual activity, the sexual abuser doing something with their parts in front of the other person or even as simple as saying what they would do to them if they were going to have sex.” She wrote ‘agreed by both people’ in the consent column and ‘force onto another person’ in the sexual harassment/abuse column. It was then students began to copy down what she had written on the board. Sehun did the same thing as the rest of the students, again allowing Baekhyun to copy from his work. He had a feeling that Baekhyun would always copy his notes. But Sehun didn’t seem to mind. Baekhyun had become his first friend after all.
"Are you going to copy my notes all year?" Sehun asked, whispering while chuckling a little bit.
"Just until the tests come," Baekhyun answered, whispering.
"Fair fair," the younger whispered back. Mrs Kim went on and on about the differences between consent and sexual harassment/abuse until the sound of the bell rang, meaning that it was time for the next class. The teacher allowed a minute or two for the students to finish writing what was on the board before erasing it off the board. Mrs Kim packed her things up from the desk before leaving the class when the next teacher came into the classroom. She quickly explained to the teacher, who was named Mr Jung, that Sehun is a new student as well as transgender before officially leaving the classroom. Sehun knew that Mrs Kim was talking about him, but he also knew that each teacher would have to let the next teacher know about him being the new kid as well as transgender. So he couldn't really complain about it.
Chapter Text
The subject that Mr Jung was teaching was maths, a subject that Sehun was good at but didn't admit it. He considered himself average at it, even though at his previous school he at gotten an 'A' on every maths test and had an 'A' from his maths teacher on his report card. But even then, he still considered himself average at the subject. He watched as the teacher walked up to the whiteboard, seeing that Mr Jung was writing something up but couldn't see just yet but then again, neither could the other students around him. When the teacher moved out of the way of what he had written, Sehun read what was on the board. There was the word 'trigonometry' as well as something that was related to or what he assumed to be related to trigonometry. He didn't remember learning trigonometry at his previous school, so he was a little confused when seeing it on the board. He had a small glance over at Baekhyun, who also seemed to be a little bit confused as his head was tilted ever so slightly.
"I know some of you," Mr Jung began, "In fact, maybe all of you are a little confused by the term that I have written on the board here and what I have written under the term. Well, let me explain the term and what everything else means as well so that you can understand it. You can write this down in your books if you want to." The teacher began to explain what trigonometry was and what everything else that he had written on the board, each student writing down was what was currently written on the board. Sehun made some additional notes next to 'sin', 'cos' and 'tan', of course allowing Baekhyun to copy his notes afterwards like he had done in the previous class in which he didn't mind.
"You know," Baekhyun whispered, "Your notes make more sense compared to what Mr Jung is saying currently and I mean that in the nicest way possible."
"I was going to," Sehun whispered back, "Take that as a compliment anyway. I don't know how I could take that in any other way." There was a little snicker from the older male after he had finished copying Sehun's notes. There were some students who were still taking notes from the whiteboard, but some other students had already finished copying what was on the board. Mr Jung didn't continue until all students were finished copying what was on the board, which took roughly five minutes or so. Only when all students were finished was when the teacher continued to talk about how to solve 'sin', 'cos' and 'tan' when it came to equations and how to figure out which one to use if not given one before hand. Sehun was able to understand what Mr Jung was saying, deciding to make notes anyway because he felt like that was the right thing to do in this situation. Of course, like the other times, Baekhyun copied the younger's notes like always but made sure that Mr Jung didn't catch him doing so because he didn't want to get into trouble for doing so. Not that he would get into trouble anyway because some other students were doing the same thing as him.
As soon as Mr Jung finished explaining, he started handing out two worksheets to each student, each worksheet being back and front full of questions that related to what they were just taught. Sehun looked at the worksheets, looking at both the front and back of both worksheets. He wanted to have a look at what the questions were before starting anything as he found it easier on what to and on where to start.
"You may work with the person next to you," Mr Jung said, "And if you need any other help, you can come to me." With that, there was an instant chatter rise in the classroom. It wasn't loud enough for the noise to travel outside of the classroom but a lot of the conversations could audibly be heard. Sehun began on the first page of the worksheet, thinking that the first side of the first sheet would be a better way of easing into the questions as he noticed that the questions changed a bit on the second page. He looked around for a brief moment, seeing that everyone in the class had their calculators out including Baekhyun, which then made the younger get his calculator out of his pencil case. Firstly, he began to write out the equation that he needed down on the paper before putting it into the calculator, pressing the equals button which then gave him the answer to the first question.
Before writing the answer, he entered the equation once again to make sure that it was the same answer, in which it was. He wrote down the answer before clearing the equation from his calculator, moving onto the next question which was similar to the previous one but a little bit different at the same time. Sehun glanced at Baekhyun for a brief moment. It looked like the older was having some trouble with the first question because he was looking at his calculator with a confused expression on his face.
"You seem a little confused," Sehun said, "Do you need some help?"
"I think I do need some help," Baekhyun responded, "And I am confused. I don't know if I did something wrong because I don't know why this would be the answer." He showed his calculator to the younger, which allowed Sehun to check what was on the device. The younger checked what Baekhyun had put into the calculator, noticing that the older had written the equation in the wrong way.
"I know why the answer is off," the younger said, after sometime, "It's because you put the equation in wrong."
"Did I?" Baekhyun asked, looking back at what he had put into the calculator.
"Yeah," Sehun answered, "I can fix it for if you want me to." As soon as the older heard that offer, he gave the calculator to Sehun so that he could fix the mistake. The younger cleared the equation that Baekhyun had put in beforehand and put in the correct one, getting the same answer to when he did the question. Once he pressed the equal button on the calculator, the answer that Sehun had gotten before had appeared which then allowed him to give the calculator back to the older, who then looked at what was put into the device.
"Oh, I see where I went wrong," he said, "Thanks."
"No problem," Sehun responded, before going onto the next question. The increasing chatter around him was starting to make concentrating harder, but then again, Mr Jung did say that everyone could work with the person next to them. But, from what he was hearing around him, a lot of his classmates weren't really talking about the worksheet that they were supposed to be doing. That made it even harder to focus because he could hear a lot of different conversations going on such as what some people would be doing on the weekend, gossip about other students, even some of them were talking about how their relationships were going. It was something that Sehun necessarily didn't want to hear in the conversations but he couldn't do anything about it as this was the classroom he'll be in for the rest of the year.
Not that he wanted to be in a different classroom because if he was in a different classroom, he wouldn't have met Baekhyun. Baekhyun seemed to be one of the funnier students here and plus, the older was the first one to engage in conversation with Sehun, so he didn't want to switch classrooms. Sehun wrote down the equation next to the question before putting it into his calculator and getting the answer after pressing the equal button. It was going to be a long class.
Chapter Text
Sehun was about to finish the last equation when he heard the bell ring, meaning that it was officially time for recess. Why did it have to be recess when he was about to finish the last equation? But, at least he gets to meet Baekhyun's friends now and there was a possibility that he would have made more friends. That was enough to make him put is calculator back into his pencil case and like everyone else in the classroom, he got his lunchbox out of his bag. While he was getting his lunch box out, he heard Mr Jung dismiss the class. He got up from his chair along with Baekhyun and walked out of the classroom with the rest of the class, making sure that he was walking beside the older male so that he could follow Baekhyun to where him and his friends normally hung out.
"Follow me," Baekhyun stated, "To where my friends and I hang out." Sehun began to follow the older student to where his friends usually hung out. They walked out of the school building and walked past many other buildings in the school as well as many other students. He never realised how many students there were in the school but then again, a lot of the students were probably already in their homeroom when he had arrived to the school and the students were out were a mystery. He walked past many students and other school buildings before walking onto the oval. There were a few groups of friends sitting on the oval, all spread out. One of them was Baekhyun's friend group and Sehun knew it. He continued to follow the older student until they had arrived at one of the many friend groups. The younger looked around the group, seeing that there was only really a few students. As soon as Baekhyun and Sehun had arrived to the friend group, everyone in the friend group stopped talking and faced the two that had just arrived.
"Hey everyone," Baekhyun began, "This is Sehun, he is the new student here. Sehun, this is my friend group. They are Hongjoong, Chaeyoung, Jiyong, Jisoo and Changbin." As he said the names, he pointed to the correct person and Sehun made sure to remember who the names belonged to as he didn't want to forget. Especially since these guys and girls were possibly going to be his friends til the day he graduates which was not until the following year. Everyone in the friend group greeted the new kid with friendly smiles and inviting tones in their voices, also greeting him with open arms. From the tones of their voices, their smile and being invited in with open arms, Sehun felt instantly welcomed into the friend group, not to forget that since he was managing to pass well enough as a male, he felt like he didn't need to come out as transgender. Though he knew that he needed to come out eventually, he wasn't going to come out just yet because he didn't feel ready or comfortable. He watched as everyone in the friend group sat down on the ground, in which he followed. What Sehun didn't expect was to be asked questions by the people around him, but then again, he is technically the new student so everyone was going to be asking him questions.
"So, Sehun," Hongjoong said, catching Sehun's attention, "Why did you move schools? You don't have to answer if it is a touchy subject."
"It's ok," Sehun responded, "And I moved schools because I was getting bullied at my last school and the teachers as well as principal were being ... I guess you could say dicks. I rather not say for what though because I'm not comfortable with saying it just yet."
"And that is fine," Jisoo replied, "Those bullies sound like absolute dicks and so do the teachers and the principal." Before Sehun knew it, the friend group began to talk about how rude his previous school was and had been, which made the male feel extremely welcome to the school as well into the his new friend group. He didn't speak during the conversation but he listened to what everyone was saying, the main topic being of his previous school being assholes and how they were grateful that this school was accepting in many ways. The one thing that surprised the male was hearing that even students from the lgbt community were welcomed at the school, which made Sehun happy considering that he was apart of the community in two ways. One being transgender and two being gay. He still didn't say anything as he listened to the conversation that was happening, not wanting to interrupt as it was an interesting conversation. If only he had friends like this at his last school, but nope, instead he had friends that ended up ignoring him after he had started transitioning.
"You going good, Sehun?" Baekhyun asked, catching the younger's attention, "You seem to have gone quiet."
"Yeah, I'm fine," Sehun answered, "I'm just listening to the conversation. It's quite funny." From that statement, he had managed to make the entire friend group laugh a bit. Hearing everyone laughing made the male laugh as well, enjoying the fact that he had managed to make his new friends laugh. The people at this school seemed to be much nicer than his previous school. He began to remember different instances from his previous school in which he had been bullied, something that he didn't necessarily want to remember but he couldn't stop the memories from flowing into his mind.
- Warning, Read With Caution. Some Bullying Ahead. -
Sehun was in second grade when he had his first boy hair cut. He was happy that he was finally able to start transitioning in some way or another. Of course it wasn't something big but it was a start and it was a good enough start for him. He wanted to take testosterone as soon as possible but that couldn't happen just yet because one, he was too young as he was only seven at the time and two, he needed to live as the desired gender for a certain period of time. As much as he wanted to start testosterone at that time, he knew that he had to be patient which was going to be hard enough considering that dysphoria was already coming in. Anyway, Sehun walked onto the school ground and immediately, everyone stared at him. No one had ever seen him with short hair until now. Seeing all the stares that were directed at him made him feel slightly uncomfortable, but he was sure they were just in shock that he had short hair now.
Sehun continued to walk further and further into the school ground and the more that he walked into the school grounds, he found that the stares from his peers weren't from shock but from disgust. Why were they disgusted by him having a male's hair cut? It wasn't something to be disgusted by. He found himself lowering his head out of fear of what could happen, anything could happen. He didn't know why they were disgusted because there have been times where other girls had short haircuts and there had been the occasional time where boys had grown their hair out, so why was he any different? He was half way to the school building before someone had stopped him by standing in front of him. Of course, Sehun recognised who it was. Jaehyun.
"Why did you get a boys haircut?" Jaehyun asked, as he crossed his arms over his chest. There was an obvious disgusted tone in his voice and Sehun knew that Jaehyun definitely wasn't curious but instead wanted to do something that was mean to the transgender male.
"Because, I am a boy," Sehun answered, trying to sound confident. He didn't want to make the other male think that he was 'better' than he really was.
"Well, if you are a boy," Jaehyun replied, "Why are you only getting your hair cut now when it has been long since kindergarten? If you were a boy, in which you are not, you would've had it cut short ages ago. So, are you a real boy or are you just a faker?"
"I am a real boy," Sehun responded, his voice becoming a little shaky. The other male just rolled his eyes, which then made everyone else that was looking laugh. Sehun looked at everyone that was around, feeling embarrassed as well as feel his cheeks go red. Why was he going red and why was he feeling embarrassed by it? Maybe it was because he had presented as a girl and now all of a sudden, he had gotten a boy hair cut and was saying that he was a boy. It could raise some suspicions to those who wasn't close to him.
"Trust me," Jaehyun stated, laughing a little bit, "You aren't a real boy. You are a faker. You just want to be a boy so you could fit in with the real boys. You will never be a real boy." As soon as he had finished speaking, he placed his hands on the the transgender male's shoulders and pushed him back, which made him lose his balance and fall down onto his back. Everyone was laughing at the fact that Sehun was now on the ground and they were also chanting 'faker' in perfect unison. Sehun sat up and looked around him, wanting to cry from what they were saying. He knew that he was a real boy, he just didn't realise it until recently. He wanted to go home. He was about to get up when the chanting stopped and immediately the crowd of small students began to disperse, all because of the fact that the principal had shown up to see what was happening. Mr Kim, the principal, had walked over to the fallen student and kneeled, but the words that came out of his mouth made Sehun feel uncomfortable.
"Hei-ran, what happened?" Mr Kim asked. Hearing that name made Sehun even more upset as it was not the name that he wanted.
"It's Sehun," he muttered.
"Pardon?" the principal asked.
"Nothing," Sehun answered, "Jaehyun was bullying me for having a boy haircut."
"Jaehyun, we do not bully someone," the principal stated to the other student, "For having a haircut that is either feminine or masculine. What do we say to someone that we have bullied and hurt?"
"Sorry Hei-ran," Jaehyun apologised, "I didn't mean to hurt you. It looks great on you. I won't do it again." Sehun knew that the other male wasn't serious about not doing it again but he couldn't say anything about it in front of Mr Kim, so instead, he just nodded at the other student as his way of accepting the apology.
"Come on, Hei-ran," Mr Kim said, "We'll call your mum so that she knows what had happened." All the young child did was nod. He just wanted to go home, to go to the one place that he was accepted as being transgender. He got up from where he was and began to follow the principal, hoping that he could go home. He didn't want to be here anymore. He followed the principal until they had arrived at his office, taking a seat instantly in front of Mr Kim's desk and watched as the principal began to dial the number for Sehun's mother. Sehun just sat there, not moving a single muscle. Maybe he should've gotten his hair cut short when he was in kindergarten so then he could pass better but it was too late for that now considering that he had been bullied for doing so. He was silent and stiff, just staring at the desk and only perked up when he heard that his mother was coming in. He didn't remember much of what was said between his mother and the principal besides the fact that his mother had said that the school was full of ignorant pieces of shit.
---
Sehun was brought out of his thoughts by the sound of clicking next to his ear. He looked over to see who was, it being Jiyong.
"You ok?" he asked.
"Yeah, just thinking," Sehun answered. Well, it was a little more than that, but he didn't want to get into it.
Chapter Text
The twenty minutes of recess was full of laughter for Sehun's new group of friends, to the point where they were almost crying from laughing so much. Being with his new friend group and laughing with them, he didn't last in the past bullying memories. He had forgotten those memories as he was laughing too much because of a joke that Jisoo had made a little bit ago. Because of how much they were laughing, by the time that they had stopped, it was time to go back to class. The seven of them got up from the ground and went to their bags to put their lunch boxes away, saying goodbye along the way. Jiyong, Hongjoong and Chaeyoung were in different classes so they went in the opposite direction compared to Baekhyun, Sehun, Jisoo and Changbin. They walked into their classrooms and sat down at the seats that they were at before. Sehun never noticed that both Jisoo and Changbin were in the same class as himself. The more he knew. He sat down in his seat and quickly finished the last equation of the maths worksheet, just wanting to have it done since he didn't get to before recess. He knew at that he didn't have to finish it that day but he wanted the satisfaction of finishing it rather that the annoyance of it never being finished.
He had finished it as soon as the next teacher had come in. Mr Kim had come in and he was going to be teaching history, which wasn't Sehun's favourite subject. If anything, it was one of his least favourite subjects. He wasn't bad at the subject but he wasn't necessarily good at it either, he was more on the side of being average at the subject in terms of grade. He put the worksheet away under his pencil case. He would put it away in his bag later as he didn't want to be seen like he was packing up early since it was nowhere near the end of the day yet. So for now, it was going to stay under his pencil case. He would remember to put it away properly later when he got home. Or maybe he could do it before lunch arrives. Either would do.
*** (Small Time Skip) ***
By the end of the day, everyone was ready to go home after the numerous classes in one classroom. The class was dismissed for the day and everyone started packing up their stuff. Every student was excited to go home. Sehun put his stuff in his bag and zipped it, getting up from his seat. He began to walk out of the classroom along with the rest of the students, then he walked out of the school building with every student that was in the school. Mrs Choi was standing at the front of the school, saying goodbyes to the students that had walked out the front gate. There were a few students that had gotten into cars with their parents and some that went into buses. Sehun was one of the students that was walking home, so he was going to pass the principal as he walked off the school grounds. Not that he minded because the principal was very nice. As he walked closer, he had stopped when the principal had started talking to him specifically.
"Hey, Sehun," Mrs Choi greeted, "How was your first day?"
"It was good," he answered, "I made friends with Baekhyun and his friends." In that moment, Baekhyun had come up and had said a goodbye to the male with a big smile on his face. His smile was contagious enough to make Sehun smile back, saying goodbye back.
"That's good to hear," she responded, going into a whisper, "I hope you don't mind that I told your homeroom teacher that you are trans."
"I don't mind," he replied, "I rather you have done it." While every transgender person was different to who told whom, but he was happy that the principal told his homeroom teacher because he didn't want to do it himself.
"Well, that's good then," Mrs Choi stated, with a smile on her face, "See you tomorrow." Sehun said goodbye to the principal and walked off the school grounds, beginning to make his way home. He didn't have to think about how he would get home because he would just have to go the way that he came. He stayed focus on the way home and because of that, he made it home in no time and he was instantly greeted by his mother. Mrs Oh didn't hesitate with asking the typical 'first day of school' questions.
"How was your first day?" she asked, "Did anyone find out? Did you make friends? Was everyone nice to you?"
"It was good," he answered, taking his bag off his shoulders, "No one found out, the only people that were told were the teachers, but none of the students knew. Yes, I made friends with someone in my class named Baekhyun and he introduced me to his friends. And yes, people were nice to me." He knew that his mother was just wondering and slightly worried about him being bullied again. So, he wasn't going to tell her to stop because he could see why she would be worried. He answered any other questions that she had, which there was quite a lot and it took roughly ten minutes in total before he could go up to his room. He placed his bag by the door frame of his room before getting changed out of his school uniform and getting into his pyjamas. There was no homework that was currently set, which he was happy about. He assumed that it was because it was the first day of school but regardless, he was happy that there was no homework for the time being. Of course, he knew that homework was going to be set in a few days or so. For now though, he was going to enjoy not having homework and just relax. He laid down on his bed once he was in his pyjamas and just looked through his Instagram, something that he normally did every afternoon.
***
Baekhyun had gotten changed into his pjs and was making his way to the laundry room so that he could put his school uniform into the laundry basket. The laundry basket was empty, which meant that either his mother or father had done a load of washing. That was what he had assumed anyway. He placed his school clothes into the laundry basket and walked into the lounge room where both his parents were in, watching a show that Baekhyun couldn't care less about. He honestly couldn't really care less about the tv shows that his parents watched because he found their shows a little boring.
"Hey Baek, how was school?" Mr Byun asked, as Baekhyun sat down on the couch.
"It was good," Baekhyun answered, "There was a new kid in my year."
"Really?" Mrs Byun questioned, "What's their name? And if it was a male, was he cute?" His parents knew that he was openly gay both at home and at school, so he wasn't surprised when he heard his mother ask the question.
"His name is Sehun," he responded, "And yeah, he is a bit cute when first having a look at him. A lot of the girls seem to like him." Both his mother and father nodded at what their son had said. It wasn't a conversation that happened all that often. It was a conversation that happened whenever Baekhyun felt like having. The three of them remained silent and looked on the tv, which was playing a reality tv show that Baekhyun never really watched nor payed attention to before. That was the reason why he didn't really understand what was going on. Because of that, he got up from the couch and made his way back to his room. Because there was no homework yet, he wasn't going to do much besides from playing games on his gaming system that he had in his room. His gaming system consisted of two monitors and a gaming computer that was attached to the monitors. He was happy with the way that it was as it was the way that he had imagined it.
Chapter Text
After looking at Instagram on his phone, Sehun mainly watched YouTube on his computer as he relaxed. It was how he always relaxed when there was no homework on a school night or any set for the weekend. Dinner wasn't for another hour or so, though he was sure that he would only watch YouTube for another few minutes. His eyes were glued to the computer screen as he watched a gameplay of Firewatch, a gameplay that he had seen numerous times before. He loved watching the different things that different people had picked up on or the different secrets that they had found. That was the main reason why he watched them so many times.
He watched the video until the very end, having the same slight curiosity at the end of it about what was going to happen, despite knowing what was going to happen. Though, he didn't click the next video because he thought that it was enough of YouTube for the time being. He got off his bed, taking his headphones off and made his way around the house as he looked for his mother. It wasn't a long search as he found her in the lounge room, watching tv. She was watching a movie, one that she hadn't watched before.
"What movie are you watching?" he asked, sitting on the singular couch chair next to her.
"A movie called Spree," Mrs Oh answered, briefly looking at her son, "It's a horror movie released in twenty twenty."
"I never thought you were a horror movie person," Sehun responded.
"Usually, I'm not," she replied, "But, I thought that I would give this one a go. Just to see if it changes my view of horror." Sehun mentally questioned it for a moment, though he decided to watch the movie with his mother. He had a slight thing for horror, so watching this movie wasn't going to be much different compared to other movies that he had watched previously.
"Oh, before I forget," his mother stated, "What would you like for dinner?"
"Anything," he replied.
"Anything specific?" she asked. Sehun thought for a moment, trying to think of something specific that he wanted to have or felt like having.
"How about some jajangmyeon?" he suggested.
"Sure," his mother responded, smiling, "Only if you help me make it when it's time." He agreed to help her make it, though he did have a habit of helping her out when it came to meal times. The two of them continued to watch Spree, the male finding himself getting into the storyline of it. While he had seen movies, such as Searching and Unfriended, that used technology screens to show the storyline, he was enjoying that it revolved around going live through apps instead of face time and all that. He was so into it that hearing his mother saying that it was time to start making dinner had startled him. Mrs Oh had paused the movie as the two of them had made their way into the kitchen. Out of natural habit, the male had begun to get every utensil and bowl that they needed while his mother got the ingredients that were required. This was something that they often did together and they just knew what to do and when to do it.
Sehun placed what his mother needed in front of her and helped out with any cooking. His mouth was watering at the sight of it, even though they had only just started making it. It had been a while since he had jajangmyeon and he was a little too excited to have some. It was just a matter of how long until it was done.
***
Baekhyun and his parents had just finished their dinner not that long ago and now he was doing the dishwasher. It was his turn to do the dishwasher. He placed all of the bowls, utensils and anything else that they used into the dishwasher, though it was not enough to do a full load. Because it wasn't a full load, he pushed the compartments inside of the dishwasher and closed the door. Afterward, he was excused to leave and he instantly made his way over to his bedroom. He jumped onto his bed and grabbed his phone, finding that he had a few snaps from his friends. He opened each one separately and responded to each one separately. As he was responded to each of friends, a thought had come to Baekhyun's mind.
He had to see if the new kid had any social media or any other form of contact. It had only hit him now that he hadn't asked the new kid about any form of contact. He would have to ask Sehun tomorrow and hopefully if he did have something like Snapchat or Instagram, Baekhyun and everyone else in the friend group could add him. He hadn't thought of it earlier or maybe someone else had thought of it but forgot to mention it during the school day.
"Baekie," Mrs Byun said, standing at the door frame, "Did you want some ice cream?" Baekhyun didn't have think twice about his answer.
"Yes please," he responded.
"Ok, we'll let you know when it's ready," she replied. The male nodded as his mother walked away.
***
Sehun jumped up and down when the jajangmyeon was finally finished cooking, his mother laughing at how excited her son was. With the obvious excitement still running through him, he helped Mrs Oh put the jajangmyeon into their bowls, just until they had the amount that they wanted.
"Thank you mum," he thanked, following her back into the lounge room.
"It's no problem, Sehun," she responded. They sat down where they were sitting before, Mrs Oh being the one to press play. The movie continued to play as they began to eat. For the first few bites, they had to cool it down before ending up eating the pieces that was on their utensils. Both Sehun and his mother remained silent as they ate while watching the movie, occasionally jumping from the occasional jump scare that the movie provided. There were only a few jump scares but there was still some and scary enough to make them jump a little bit. Even though this was the first time he was hearing of this movie, Sehun was liking it so far and it was one that he definitely wanted to watch again. Whenever that may be. From the look of it, it seemed like his mother was liking it too or it looked like it to him.
He would have to ask after the movie finished and when they had finished their dinner. His eyes focused on the movie as his hand and arm went back and forth between the bowl and his mouth as if it was muscle memory. It was like that for a little while before the movie had finished and they had finished their jajangmyeon. Both mother and son got up once again and went back into the kitchen to start on the dishes.
"So, what did you think?" his mother asked, taking the clean dishes out of the dishwasher.
"It was good," Sehun answered, putting the dirty dishes into the now free spaces of the dishwasher, "I would definitely watch it again. Maybe even multiple times. What about you? Did you like it?"
"I can see why someone like you enjoys it," she responded, "And it definitely is good, but it is a bit gory for me."
"Thought so," he stated. The two of them continued to talk back and forth while doing the dishwasher, putting dishes in the right spot so that it could be cleaned properly. There wasn't enough to put a full load on, so they closed it and didn't turn it on. His mother thanked him for helping and with that, they went to their bedrooms. Sehun went back onto his computer, put his headphones back on and clicked on the video that he wanted to watch earlier. There was an ad before the video, though he had expected there to be an ad before hand. Majority of the time, there was an ad. It was a non skippable ad, though he didn't mind waiting. It was worth the wait. It was a good way to support his favourite content creators. As annoying as the ads were, it was still a good way to support them without doing that much.
Chapter Text
The next day, Sehun had woken up early. The sun was only just starting to rise. There was time to do what he wanted to do before doing school work. His joints cracked as he got up from his bed, though he didn't react to it. It was dead silent afterwards. He guessed that his mother was still asleep. Either that or she was awake and was silently doing something. He wasn't going to check in case she was sleeping. He would wait until it was a little bit later in the morning. In the mean time, he picked up his phone and stood completely still in the same spot. He didn't have any notifications, though he expected that. The friends that he did have at his last school were most likely still asleep as well or doing any small pieces of homework they had gotten the day before. Sehun unlocked his phone and went through his Instagram. There were a few new posts from his friends from his previous school. All the posts were 'first day of school' posts.
He liked a few of the posts before getting off the app and moved onto YouTube. He had no interest in watching videos this early in the morning, he was more or less checking on any notifications of videos posted by the YouTubers he regularly watched as well as any recommendations of other YouTuber videos. He would have to watch the videos in the notifications later. He got off the app and looked blankly at the wallpaper behind the few apps that he had. It was a photo of him in the eighth grade and it was one of the first few photos of when he first started presenting as male. Of course, he had gotten a masculine hair cut years prior to that. The time he first tried on a binder, the first time he wore the male uniform to school instead of wearing male clothes just outside of school, being called Sehun everywhere instead of just at home. The eighth grade was had its good moments from time to time. The time that some of his gender dysphoria was lessened.
More of gender dysphoria had been lessened since then, though he still had some dysphoria in some areas of himself. Before he could dwell on it for too long, the creak of his door brought him out of his thoughts. The light made everything in his room more visible.
"What are you doing up so early?" Mrs Oh asked, "I never thought of you as an early riser."
"I don't know," he answered, "I kinda just woke up early, I guess."
"That's a first in years," she said, "Make most of your free time before school starts."
"Always," Sehun joked. She laughed a little at her son's joke before leaving the bedroom doorway. Sehun turned his phone off and placed it on his bed. There wasn't much more he could or wanted to do on his phone. Plus, he preferred to watch YouTube on his computer. He moved from standing next to his bed to the desk that he had in his room. He had left his computer on it the night before and it had not moved from that very spot. The headphones were placed directly next to it. From standing to sitting, he opened up his computer and onto his default browser, instantly going onto YouTube. There was not much else he could do. Similar recommended videos appeared in front of him, endless of recommended videos or from YouTubers he was subscribed to. It was just a matter of choosing a video that he wanted to watch before he had to get ready for school.
***
"Baek, it's time to get up," Mr Byun said, "Breakfast is ready." Baekhyun wasn't much of an early riser, so having his mother or father wake him up in the morning wasn't exactly uncommon.
"I'll be down in a minute," he responded. He wanted some time to properly wake up for the long school day. Though, he was somewhat excited to try and attempt to get any form of contact with the new kid. Baekhyun looked out the bedroom window, the sun not fully risen yet but had risen enough to create outlines of some of the tree branches outside. It was too early for him to wake up naturally. He stretched his limbs in every which way before getting up from his bed. He made his way to the dining room, his parents sat on opposite sides of the table. Baekhyun sat down in between his parents. He picked out what he felt like having for breakfast. Only when he had picked what he wanted, the Byun family had begun to eat. It wasn't long before their usual family conversation started.
"So, Baekhyun," Mrs Byun said, "Tell me more about this new kid. Sehun, was it?"
"Yeah, Sehun," Baekhyun replied, "He apparently moved schools because the kids at his last school were bullying him. He didn't say why he was getting bullied, but I didn't want to ask about it anyway. I'm sure he doesn't want to. According to him, the teachers and the principals weren't the nicest either. Well, he didn't say it like that."
"How did he say it then?" Mr Byun asked.
"Don't hate me for this," he answered, "But, the way that he said it was that his principal and teachers were being a dick. His words, not mine."
"Sounds like he hated his last school," his mother said, "Actually, maybe hate is a strong word. But it does sound like he had a strong dislike for his last school. I wonder why he was getting bullied."
"So do I," he responded, "But I think I'll wait until he tells me first. It might be a little too personal, if you know what I mean." His parents understood where their son was coming from. It was up to the new kid and only himself to tell Baekhyun if he wanted to. Mr Byun was the one to change the subject to a more light hearted one. Though, they had made sure that they were eating in between each sentence.
***
Sehun had watched many YouTube videos and had some breakfast as he watched some of them. It was just a matter of getting dressed for the day. So far, he had his school trousers on and was currently buttoning his shirt. He didn't pay attention to his scars on his chest, mainly due to how much the scars had faded. Though, as he was buttoning his shirt, there was a question that had come to his mind.
"Hey eomma," he said, as he walked out of his room, "I have a question in regards to my t shot tomorrow."
"What is it?" she asked.
"Do I need to bring the shot bottle and needle tomorrow?" he questioned, "Because it didn't occur to me now."
"The school already has some of your t shots," she answered, "And they have some needles ready as well. Mrs Choi and I had talked about it before your first day and we both agreed that it would be better if you already had some of your t shots there. And we will keep sending your t shots to them until you graduate next year. Mrs Choi said that she was more than happy to keep them at the school so then you and I wouldn't have to worry about other students finding out nor forgetting on the day." That was a relief to hear. He liked that his mother had thought a step ahead. He wouldn't need to be stressing about bringing it to school and worrying about other students noticing it. Or teachers who didn't know he was transgender noticing it either. It was now one more thing that he didn't have to worry about.
"Do you have everything packed and ready to go?" she asked, "Because as soon as you are ready, you'll be on your way I'm assuming."
"Yeah, everything's packed," he answered, buttoning the last button, "Just gotta get my shoes and my bag." He quickly went back to his room and got his bag, the straps rested on his shoulders. He put on his shoes near the front door, making sure that the laces were double knotted.
"Ok, I'm off to school," he said. He quickly gave his mother a hug before he left. He was excited for the day to start, mainly excited to meet his new friends once again. He was still surprised he had made friends so quickly and so easily. He thought that being the new kid, it would have taken him a bit longer. Guess he thought wrong.
Chapter Text
The school came into view to Sehun's view and to his surprise, Baekhyun was standing by the front gates. He was looking around, as if he was expecting someone and was just waiting for them to arrive. Before he could even begin to think who Baekhyun could be waiting for, the two of them made eye contact and instantly, a smile appeared on Baekhyun's face and he ran over to his new friend.
"There you are!" he said excitedly, "I was wondering when you would arrive." Something about Baekhyun waiting for him to arrive to school made Sehun's heart race a little bit. Just the fact that someone who he only just met yesterday was something he never expected. Other than his parents, he hadn't experienced someone be excited to see him. But here Baekhyun was, claiming to be excited to see him and the facial expressions to match it, none of it shifting or changing. Nothing indicating that it was just for show or fake, all of it real. Something he never saw at his old school. Nothing but weird looks and disgust.
"Well, surprise," Sehun eventually replied, "Here I am." The two of chuckled a little bit as they made their way to the designated classroom that served as their homeroom as well. With every other student that currently was on school grounds, they went to the buildings of their homerooms, though didn't enter just yet. It was a little too early to actually be entering their homerooms. To pass the time a bit, Sehun and Baekhyun sat down at the cafeteria, sitting side by side with their bags on their backs. None of Baekhyun's other friends, the same ones Sehun had met yesterday, hadn't arrived yet. At least, not from where they were sitting. For all that Sehun knew, they could be around somewhere on the school grounds but just not near the cafeteria part of the school.
"So," Baekhyun said, "How was your first day here?"
"Honestly," Sehun replied, "It was good. Definitely liking it a lot more than my previous school, that's for sure." If only he knew. If only Baekhyun knew why he had been bullied previously. Sehun pushed that thought out of his head. No use thinking about those moments now, not when he friends now. Friends that were actually nice and seemed accepting, no matter what. It might only be his second day at the school, but he already was so much happier here than his old school.
"That's amazing," the older responded, a big smile on his face. Before either of them could say anything else, a voice got their attention.
"Sehun! Baekhyun!" Chaeyoung said, arms wide and a wide smile to accompany it, "Two of my besties are here! Thank god, I didn't want to sit alone this morning before homeroom and classes."
"Always to be company," Sehun replied. One by one, the rest of his new found friends had made it to the cafeteria, some standing around the table while the rest sat down. All together before they would have to separate for homeroom and for class. The only time he would probably see them all together again would be for recess and lunch, and possibly for sport tomorrow. He had a quick look at the time on his phone. Still plenty of time to catch up with his new friends.
***
Time flew by and before any of them knew it, it was time to go to homeroom. Sehun and Baekhyun walked side by side together to their homeroom, walking in with other students in their homeroom. Much like the previous day, the two of them sat in the same spot. The two girls from yesterday also sat behind them again. Sehun gave them a little smile as he sat down, angling himself so that he was facing Baekhyun but would be able to face the two girls if he needed to. Since it was just homeroom, he was allowed to talk to the students around him. He made sure to listen out for his name as the teacher had started the roll call. Baekhyun, much like Sehun had done, turned so he was facing his friend and the two girls behind him as well. Because his name was higher up in the roll call list, he already made it aware that he was present in the room.
"I've heard a rumor," Baekhyun said, "That we're playing capture the flag tomorrow for sports. I don't know if it is true, cause again, it is only a rumor."
"Man," Sehun replied, "I haven't played capture the flag in years."
"Didn't your old school play it?" the older asked.
"We did," Sehun answered, "And I don't know why they did it this way, but capture the flag was typically reserved for the younger students. The only time the older students played it was if they couldn't think of another game to play for the end of the year. Even then, it wasn't that common as they always came up with something. So I think it's been about …. four years since I last played capture the flag."
"Damn," Baekhyun responded, "That's unfair, and no fun. Boring as hell." Before he could respond, Sehun's name was called out from the roll call. He made himself known to be present and in the classroom. Once he made it known that he was present in class, he went back his conversation with Baekhyun.
"Yeah, I don't know why they did it that way," Sehun said, "Maybe because they thought we were, for some reason, too mature for it, which still doesn't make sense to me. Regardless though, at least I am not there anymore and I am just happy that I am here instead." The moment roll call ended, the teacher began the announcements. All students that were talking stopped and listened in to what the announcements were. To see if there was anything exciting coming up the coming weeks. Nothing much changed from yesterday, nothing new to report on and still nothing exciting was coming up. With roll call and announcements over, and still a few minutes left before the first class of the day starts, students went back to the conversations they were having before hand.
"So," Baekhyun said, "If we do end up playing capture the flag tomorrow, we'll remind you just how fun it is. But also more importantly, remind you how fun the game is."
"Wow, can't wait," Sehun replied, a little bit of sarcasm in voice. Other than his t shot, now he couldn't wait for tomorrow. Just to play sport with a class that perceived him as a cisgender male was already giving him an euphoric feeling. Baekhyun and Sehun, as well as with the two girls behind them, talked and talked until it was officially time for class to start. The homeroom teacher got up from his seat, bowed at the next teacher that walked into the classroom and left. First class of the day, science. A class that Sehun considered himself quite average.
"I am guessing," Sehun whispered to Baekhyun, as quiet as he could so only his friend could hear it, "You would like to copy the notes I make like you did yesterday."
"You would guess correctly," Baekhyun whispered back, "And I will definitely need to copy notes today. This teacher doesn't have the neatest handwriting and if you somehow manage to make it out and make notes from it, I will definitely need to copy it." At first, Sehun didn't believe the handwriting of the teacher being not the neatest, but it changed pretty much instantly when he saw the teacher beginning to write on the board in front of him. Still, as best as he could, he wrote down what he could make out and understand from the writing on the board. Much like the day before, Baekhyun copied what Sehun had written, making sure the teacher didn't catch him doing so. Sehun purposely angled his notebook towards his friend so he wasn't straining to see what had been written and so it could be a bit more subtle of notes being copied. Today's science lesson was all about genetics and how it contributed to one's overall appearance, health status and much more. Sehun remembered briefly learning about genetics at his previous school before he transferred, so he already knew some of the things that the teacher wrote on the board. But he kept quiet and just kept listening to what the teacher was saying and writing down what she wrote and occasionally what she said. Occasionally, when she asked a question and wanted someone to answer, he put his hand up to answer.
