I have realized that I don't like this work and the way I have done it. I wasn't writing for myself. I will be going back to edit each chapter (minus the intro) and attempt a schedule. Thank you so much for reading!

Notes:

Hi! This is my first ever fic, with my OCs I made out of boredom. I really hope you like it!

Erica has lots of background that includes past child abuse, grooming, and some other things. All will be included in the notes with trigger warnings.

Chapter 1: A Mothers Love

Chapter Text

Mother’s love is a well known supposed magic. If your mother loves you hard enough, nothing can harm you.

Erica knew it. She knew it well.

“I forgot my keys inside. Can I trust you two to stay put?” The woman asked, beautiful dark hair tumbling down as she squatted towards two small children. A boy and girl, remarkably similar. Royals in their own world.

The boy nodded, puffing his chest out a little, holding the girl’s arm. She whined. “Mama no! What about the monsters?” Her brown eyes, mirror to her mother, flashed around, looking weary towards the alley across the road.

The woman sighed, reaching into her pocket, removing a small pocket knife. A large E carved on the front. “Here Mija, if a monster comes, you can use this.”

The girl squealed, grabbing it with both hands like it was made of glass. Mother and daughter smiled and hugged, mother whispering her love to her children, how would they know it to be their last.

The girl grew, influenced by her environment. Separated, alone, hurt. Shiny glimmers that once lived in her eyes disappeared, leaving smoky quartz eyes in their place. Dark hair carelessly cut to her broad shoulders.

Erica Valdez knew what a mothers love did that night. And she’d have to live with it forever.
