Summary

Starfleet and the Federation have collapsed after a decades-long war, and everyone who was off-planet at the time is effectively stranded with no way home. Planets that were once connected by the Federation are now connected only by a black market smuggling economy, and a bare-bones system of good samaritans who help people get back to their homes, although not everyone in this network can be trusted.
