Chapter Text
Once upon a time in a wild, wild world; there were two wolf brothers, living in their home lair with their papa wolf. They all lived happily together... but one day... hunters took their dad away. Forever.
So now the brothers were alone, and they had to find a new home. They started a journey through the great, big forest. The wolf brothers wandered for days and nights, learning how to live on their own for the first time. That’s when the big brother discovered that the little one was not an ordinary wolf, but a super wolf! They decided to head south, to the distant homeland of their papa wolf.
They made it to the home of their ancestors… and the old wolves invited them to stay. They even took care of them… and were happy to have a safe, warm place to rest. The little wolf even made friends with a raccoon, and they went on awesome adventures. Unfortunately, hunters were hot on their trail, and found them. But the raccoon helped them escape, almost getting hurt. They decided to keep heading south...
But the journey was long and dangerous. Still, the wolf brothers made new friends on the way... They soon entered the old forest of the giants... where they met a pack of stray dogs who worked on a secret farm. They learned more about the world, and the big brother hooked up with a cool she-dog. They had their own adventures.
But danger seemed to always follow them. After a bad accident, they were separated. The big brother had been hurt and the hunters finally captured him. They put him in a cage... But when he finally escaped, he went to search for his little brother… He soon found out that the little wolf had been forced into a coyote cult... and they were using him for his power. They would not let him leave.
Suddenly... their mother showed up after all that time... She said she came to help rescue him. The big brother opened up to the mama wolf about his troubles, and together, with one of the stray dogs, they went to get the little wolf back. They begged the coyote leader, but she would not release the little wolf. The big brother convinced the little one to return to him and their mother, but the coyote leader wouldn’t let them leave. So, the big brother had to kill her so they could escape… The wolf brothers, now reunited, followed their rogue mother... far into the red desert to her hideaway.
The wolf brothers found a new group of friends… and the little little one loved to help a friendly fox make her art. They were happy. But… the hunters were right behind them… and they had to leave. The wolf brothers made it to the great, big wall, separating them from their papa’s homeland. The little wolf tore a hole in it, but just when it seemed like they would be safe, hunters caught up to them. The little one was wounded, and the big wolf was put in a cage again… where he met a brave wolf couple, also captured by hunters. The big brother was about to give up, when the little one helped him and the wolf couple escape. The wolf brothers made it back to the great, big wall… where hunters were waiting for them. But the wolf brothers knew they couldn’t be separated… So the little one got all of the hunters out of the way. They made it to the other side of the wall… where they were finally free… to make it to the homeland of their papa wolf, where they know they will find peace.
“Holy shit, enano!” Sean exclaimed, still gripping Daniel’s hand.
Daniel was silent.
“You okay, hermanito?”
“Sean,” Daniel whispered after a while, “Did I just kill all those policemen? What just happened? Am I a killer?”
“No way, Daniel, you did what you had to. For us,” Sean slowly pulled Karen’s blue truck to the side of the road. He brought Daniel into a hug. “It’s okay, Daniel,” he said, kissing his brother softly on the head.
“Yeah, okay,” Daniel said, pulling away from Sean, “I love you so much, Sean,”
“I love you too, Daniel,” Sean ruffled Daniel’s thick dark hair and smiled. “Always remember that we’re the Wolf Brothers, right? It’s always gonna be you and me, enano,”
“Right,” Daniel said, “Awesome possum,”
Sean hadn’t heard those words in a long time. Not since the gas station where the shit went down with Hank Stamper. When Daniel didn’t know about Dad. When Daniel was happy and innocent. A slight smile formed across his lips. Did Daniel finally feel safe?
