David and Jonathan

Summary:

Jonathan kissed him before he could finish, no longer resisting the temptation to love this lad. He gripped his cheeks smooth beneath his fingers with David’s kiss stiff until he relaxed in his grip. They stood there for long but soon made a covenant out of their love.

Jonathan clutched onto his thighs and blushed when they reached the tent. David blushed.

Work Text:

The field spread abroad. Wet and moist, it reeked a stench swallowing his nose till he practically puked. A stench of torn flesh and decaying bodies filled the air as he overlooked the mass dead at their feet.

“That should do it.” Saul muttered through his pursed smile. “All thanks to our champion, the giant slayer.”

Jonathan twirled in the direction of his father’s sword where he pointed at the young shepherd boy standing with his shoulders erect and his chest puffed. Jonathan flushed at the sight of him, a sight he never let his eyes wander whenever the lad appeared. Oh how he wants to kiss him, wallow his tongue in his, and have some fun together. They locked eyes as if meant for each other.

They passed through the Philistines they slew after Goliath’s death by the lad and with Jonathan strolling up to the shepherd straightening before him. He dug deep in his gaze for a moment, trailed his eyes to his legs slicker than his sword, and examined every lovely feature about the lad until he mustered a word to slip through his gaping mouth. “Gorgeous” Damn it, wrong word. “I mean-“ he quickly added, shaking in his sandals. “Impressive.” Not him, the slaying of Goliath, as Jonathan tried to convince himself to not lose his formality.

The shepherd laughed, a laugh riding along a melody coiling his ears from his voice filled with the harmony of a musician Jonathan knew him to be. The lump hung in his throat.

“Okay.” He smirked at the prince and narrowed his gaze. The boy shifted his foot to step nearer. “He wasn’t hard to miss, really.”

“For sure…” His voice trailed when fixated on his countenance grasping his attention. “And your name?”

“David ben Jesse.” He dipped his head. “A servant to your father, the king.”

“Ha, you won’t be a servant after this.” He tore off his cloak and wrapped it around David’s shoulders with his fingers pressing against him, caressing him a little. He then thrust off his belt, sword, and bow and handed it to him, cocking his head in bewilderment.

“What is this?”

“My gift for you, my love.”

“But we just met-“

Jonathan kissed him before he could finish, no longer resisting the temptation to love this lad. He gripped his cheeks smooth beneath his fingers with David’s kiss stiff until he relaxed in his grip. They stood there for long but soon made a covenant out of their love.

Jonathan clutched onto his thighs and blushed when they reached the tent. David blushed.

“That prick, that rat, that brat, that dog, that worm, that vile thing, that fly, that gnat-“ Saul managed to let every insult he could think of fly through his mouth heavy with hate. Years had passed since David’s victory, and he gained fame from the people who loved him more than their king. Jonathan watched the growing irritation accumulating in his father’s heart since the time of Goliath’s death and upon realizing his father's desire to have David dead struck him with shock and bewilderment.

“That rouge, that maggot, that bastard, that pebble, that dead dog, that devious man, that snake, that fox, that foul thing, that ant, that thorn, that piece of dung, that cluster of my vomit, that vile thing of all men-“ Saul let out a breath before gulping his wine in one go while he sat lopsided on his throne. He wiped the drink dripping from his beard. “I want him dead!” He groaned.

“Why, what has he done-“

“DAMN IT JONATHAN STOP QUESTIONING EVERYTHING I DO,” he flung the goblet at Jonathan’s feet, standing before him and startled by his father’s outrage. “GET A HOLD OF YOURSELF BEFORE I START ASKING YOU QUESTIONS!” He clasped his fingers and lowered his head. “About the one you love so much…” Suspicion scraped his voice.

Jonathan narrowed his eyes. “Look, I don’t know what has gotten into you, but you need to evaluate and see that David has done nothing we know of wrong and is innocent-“

“FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKK,” Saul leaped up from his throne, losing his marbles, beside himself, on the verge to ram his fists through the palace walls, huffing  and puffing, fuming and pulling his hair, and stomped out of the room, trampling into the other rooms like some ox and screaming curses for the whole house to hear.

Jonathan stood, knowing his father will surely go out of his way to put David to death now he has ordered everyone who might find him and persecute him, he snatched the first plan he thought of to warn his beloved now in danger.

“Damn.”
