Marinette hasn't really had many friends in her life within school, she had her childhood friends from école Allan, Allegra, and Claude but as the years passed, and Marinette's change of schools, she ended up drifting from them thus leaving her alone at a new school with new people. Sure she was outgoing and liked by everyone, but she was never any good at making friends. With the mix of her absences and late days it was hard to make genuine connections with everyone at her school throughout the years. She has known Chloe for a long time and was close to her but in a different way, Chloe had always pestered and bullied Marinette, so that truly wasn't considered friendship in her eyes. She knew everyone, and everyone knew her, and she never considered them more than mutual friends…
… that was until she started her first year at lycee and everything changed. She made a friend of the new girl Alya Cesair, which added fuel to the flame that laid inside her heart that was making friends of all her classmates. She made an enemy of they new model boy Adrien Agreste on his first day at school which turned into a crush by the end of the day… and she turned into one half of Parises new chaotic teenage superheroes, which landed her with snappy title, “Ladybug”, a new creation god shaped as a bug for a friend, along with a scrapy, flirtatious, and tenacious alley cat named “Chat Noir” as a comrade.
The days turned into months and Marinette fell into her new routine. She spent time with Chat Noir on patrols and akuma attacks. In her day to day life, she kept the facade of a normal teenage girl by going to school, continuing to design, being infatuated with Adrien Agreste, and eating lunch with her new friends everyday. It took a bit to get used to the side effects of being a holder of the ladybug miraculous but Marinette finally got a hang of how to deal with the cold winters as her second winter as Ladybug rolled around.
As time passed on she became less infatuated with Adrien and the infatuation turned into full on friendship. They hung out when Adrien had time or snuck away from his father and he made a second home of the Dupain-Cheng household. It helped that Marinette had won the favor of Gabriel Agreste by winning one of his contests, so Marinette was seen as an acceptable friend for Adrien thus making it easier for him to hang out at her house with his fathers consent when Adrien didn’t fell like sneaking out.
One day in late spring of their second year as superheroes, Marinette accidentally revealed her Identity as Ladybug to Adrien thus making an excited Adrien reveal that he is Chat Noir. This definitely helped their friendship grow stronger and both agreed that it would be best to take their time as friends first before diving into the whole relationship thing.

One particularly snowy, Thursday afternoon while Adrien and Marinette were working on homework in Marinette's heated room, Adrien spoke, “Mari…” Startling Marinette out of her concentration, she looked up and said, “Yes?”
“I just remembered I was supposed to tell you Felix is coming tomorrow and staying for the weekend, so I won’t be able to come over and study...or rather as you and I know, getting distracted and playing Mecha Strike III.” Adrien chuckles to himself and continues, “I'm sorry I didn’t give you much of a warning.”
“Oh it's fine, but will you be ok? Felix didn’t give me a good impression when I met him.” Marinette said, a concerned look slipping onto her face.
“Yea I’m sure I will be fine, he probably acted that way ‘cause of his fathers death had that happened around the time he last visited.”
Marinette seems a little more relieved but the slight sense of worry remains on her face. She speaks up and says, “If you and Felix feel comfortable with it, it would be great if he tags along in our study session, or as you said Mecha Strike III session. If his life is anything like yours, I think it would be a great change of pace for him.” Marinette finishes with a satisfied look on her face.
“Thanks Mari. I'll be sure to ask him.”
They finish up their homework and Adrien packs up his stuff and leaves after hearing the telltale ping of his phone that it is telling Adrien time to head home.

The next day rolls around and Marinette was thankful for Adrien sticking close to her throughout the day. Winter days were hard on her as the side effects from her miraculous got stronger. Ladybugs are known for hibernating in the winter, thus making Marinette tired or wanting to “hibernate” during winter. Adrien was naturally warm due to the cat miraculous, so it was nice to have a constant source of heat next to her keeping her at least a little awake during the day while Marinette was away from her warm room.
At the end of their school day, Adrien walked Marinette home so he knew she was safe and warm in her own home. They part ways for the weekend and Adrien heads home to greet Felix.
Later that night…
Marinette woke up from her afternoon nap to a pinging on her phone.
She looked at her phone, flinching at the sudden bright light that dared to hurt her eyes. She ficked on the light on the shelf behind her and read the receipts on her phone.

Kitty Agreste: Hey mari I just got home. I hope you are enjoying your nap.
Kitty Agreste: I left after settling you into your bed cause Felix is here and Father wanted me home before he got here

Kitty Agreste: Mari?
Kitty Agreste: Mari are you still asleep?

Marinette sits up in bed and rubs her eyes. She opens her phone to cut off Adrien before he can keep going.

Buginette: im up
Buginette: whats up?
Kitty Agreste:P
Kitty Agreste: MARI!!
Kitty Agreste: How was your nap?
Buginette: great until you disturbed it…
Buginette: whats up?
Kitty Agreste: oh yea!
Kitty Agreste: Felix said “I would enjoy spending the afternoon with your friend Marinette” and I quote(^・ω・^ )
Buginette: thats great!
Buginette: what time tomorrow would you like to meet up?
Kitty Agreste: How bout breakfast at yours?
Buginette: sure
Buginette: but i cant promise i will be up
Kitty Agreste: Ill make sure to get you up
Kitty Agreste: See you tomorrow and don’t forget to eat
Buginette: m’kay
Marinette got up and went down into the kitchen. Her parents had just closed up shop so they were starting dinner. As dinner was being made she started on her homework at the table then set it aside when a bowl of hot chicken ginger soup was set in front of her. After dinner and the winter night slowly got colder and colder, Marinette excused herself to her room and settled in for a good night's sleep but not before texting her kitty.

Marinette closes her eyes and settles into her nest of a bed, ready for the day that tomorrow will bring.
