Work Text:

“Shuichi! It’s your turn!!”

The whole class was in Kaede’s dorm room having a sleepover. Miu had insisted they played “Spin The Bottle”, and so here they were. Multiple people had already taken their turns, resulting in Tsumugi kissing Maki, Tenko kissing Kirumi, Angie kissing Gonta, and Rantaro kissing Korekiyo (more like a gentle bonk, as Korekiyo didn’t take off their mask for it.) so far.

And now it was Shuichi’s turn. “Uhm- I don’t really want t-” before he could finish his sentence, his protests were cut off by Miu and Tsumugi’s shoutings of “You have to! Come on!”

Shuichi swallowed. He didn’t really want to play. He didn’t really want to kiss someone he wasn’t attracted to. And yet, here he was. About to do just that.

Recognizing that he couldn’t escape it, he sighed. Might as well get it over with.

Shuichi put his hand on the neck of the bottle, and holding his breath, pushed it into rotation.

Kaito, Himiko, Ryoma, Kaede, round and round it went, Shuichi watched the faces change of everyone as the bottleneck turned to them. Whether a look of disgust from Tenko or curiosity from Kiibo, nothing really pleased Shuichi.

The bottle began slowing down and before Shuichi knew it, the bottle had stopped. Miu doubled over in laughter. Maki whispered an apology of a sort under her breath. Tsumugi cheered.

Shuichi opened his eyes, which had been sealed closed, and followed the bottle up to the person it had landed on. He let out a tiny gasp.

Kokichi grinned.

It landed on Kokichi.

“How lucky! Don’t you think, Shumai?”

Shuichi stared at Kokichi silently, he knew his face was turning red.

Kokichi stood up, walking around about half the circle of students, he reached Shuichi.

Well, there was really no avoiding it now.

Kokichi bent down, getting onto his knees to be level with Shuichi, who hadn’t actually bothered to stand up.

The boy put his hand on Shuichi’s face, and leaned in a little closer. “Uh- Kokichi wait-!” Shuichi turned his head away.

“Aww what’s the matter? You don’t wanna play with me..? You’re so mean Saihara-chan!” Kokichi let go of Shuichi’s face and started crying. Though Shuichi knew it was fake, he still felt guilty.

“That’s not what I meant,” Kokichi looked up. “I uh- just wasn’t prepared.”

“Get on with it already!” Miu yelled.

No turning back.

Kokichi wrapped his arms around Shuichi’s neck.

This was it.

Shuichi leaned down. Their faces were barely an inch away from each other. The detective blushed.

“Mh-!”

Kokichi pressed his lips against Shuichi’s. Shuichi’s eyes widened in surprise, but he quickly regained steadiness.

Odd.

When it actually happened, it wasn’t so bad, and Shuichi didn’t hate it, he didn’t dislike it, in fact, he actually enjoyed it.

After a few moments, Kokichi pulled away and grinned. Shuichi timidly smiled back. “Thanks for playing with me Shu! It was fun!” He made a little heart with his fingers. Standing back up, he returned to his original seat. Rantaro gave him a thumbs up, Kokichi shoved him. Both of them laughed.

Shuichi turned back to the circle properly. Everyone was looking at him or Kokichi. It was embarrassing, but he surprisingly didn’t really mind.

Maybe he didn’t hate this game so much.
