Chapter Text
Samuil made his way inside and returned in the proper clothing.
"The clothes suit you well," complimented Fiora. "There is someplace I would like to go, Major."
"It will be my honor to escort you wherever you want to go," he replied.
"Then let us be off," she responded.
Samuil made his way over to a jeep and climbed inside. Fiora climbed in the back and sat down. Samuil started the jeep and pulled out of the Air Base. Fiora continued to navigate.
"So, where are we going?" asked Samuil.
"To see an acquaintance," answered Fiora.
"Old-timer."
It was a comment, not a question.
"Yes," she confirmed.
"You are the only one that can bring him back."
It was a several-hour drive to the small town, so they arrived at sixteen hundred. Samuil pulled the jeep to a halt.
"I'll hang back," he informed.
"Let me know if anything comes up," replied Fiora as she climbed out of the jeep, closing the door behind her.
"3-2. Will do," came his voice over the radio.
Fiora turned and made her way through the small town, her tails drawing a lot of attention until she came to a forest. She disappeared into the woods and continued through them until she came to a clearing with a small cabin.
Fiora made her way to the cabin and paused outside the door. She knocked on the door and stepped back.
She could hear the sound of feet before the door was thrown open by a burly old man with peachy skin, red hair, a long wild red beard and mustaches that concealed his mouth and neck, and green eyes. "I told you—" He paused when he saw who was at the door. "K-K-Katyusha?"
"It's good to see you again, Sergeant Artur," replied Fiora.
Artur stumbled forward and fell on his knees, wrapping his arms around her and crying into her shoulder.
Fiora moved her right arm around him and rubbed his back. "There, there, let it all out," she soothed. "I've returned."
The two remained that way for a while.
"Are you finished?" she asked.
"Please, let me stay like this a little longer," he requested.
A little later, Artur pulled himself away and stood up straight, whipping the remaining tears with his right arm. "Come." He turned and started making his way inside. "We have much to discuss."
Fiora stepped forward and took her shoes off before stepping into the house.
Artur shut the door and led her over to the living room. "Please, have a seat." He gestured toward the couch.
Fiora sat down and placed the notebook she had brought with her on the coffee table.
Artur made his way over to the kitchen.
The cabin was one room with a shared bedroom, living room, and kitchen space. Everything was open. There wasn't a bathroom. She wasn't worried. If she needed to go to the bathroom, she would just go outdoors like the animals. Taking a bath was most likely done by drawing water from the well and washing yourself down.
Artur carried a couple of china cups over and held one toward her.
"You got yourself a cozy place here," complimented Fiora as she took the offered cup and took a sip.
Artur smiled, took a sip, and sat down in the recliner.
Fiora sat the cup down on the coffee table.
"So what happened?" asked Artur, setting his cup down.
"I'm not surprised you haven't heard being out here away from the big cities," she replied.
Fiora recounted everything that happened down to the minor of detail. She left one thing out, but they'll come to that soon enough.
Artur's emotions played multiple tunes, from shock to anger to relief and finally astonishment.
"That's some tale," he said when she finished. "The TSAB. Are they trustworthy?"
"They have pure intentions but tend to leave information out when it comes to the people of this word, especially me." A pink blush spread across her cheeks. "One of them is headstrong."
Artur's eyes twinkled. "Oh? My little girl is growing up."
The pink blush spread across Fiora's face.
"Something tells me this isn't just a social call," he stated.
Ah! There it was. Just what she was waiting for. "I did want to see you again, but I can't say I don't have ulterior motives," she replied.
"If you are trying to get me to come back to the military, forget it." Artur folded his arms across his chest. "I left the military when you disappeared. I couldn't face them."
"No one blames you for what happened, Artur," replied Fiora. "Besides, you and I both know I would not have listened."
He would have been astonished by her wisdom if he didn't know her abilities. The little girl he once knew had grown up. "I know," replied Artur. "But that doesn't help the feeling of having failed you."
She folded her arms across her chest. "And here I thought you would want to redeem yourself," Fiora responded. "Or are you saying you want the same thing to happen to me?"
Artur flinched back. "What! No!" he exclaimed. "But how am I suppose to redeem myself?"
Fiora slid the notebook across the table. "I made this."
Artur picked the notebook up and looked through it. He closed the notebook and looked at her. "You serious."
It wasn't a question, and she knew it.
"This will be rough," he continued. "You are probably the only person that could complete it due to your Giga Breaker. What if it fails?"
"Then I'll start over," replied Fiora.
Artur knew she must have lowered herself to come to him for help. "I'm not sure I'm the right person."
Fiora got up and moved over to the chair, leaning over and placing her hands on the armrests. "Artur, you are the only person I trust with this," she replied. "Please, I need you."
"Ah! Not the puppy dog eyes," thought Artur. "Fine. Since it is you that is asking, I'll do it, but did you have to give the puppy dog eyes?"
Fiora straightened and smiled.
She made her way back over to the couch, sat back down, and took a sip of the tea. "You are doing well," she commented. "I noticed you grew your beard out."
"You always liked it," replied Artur.
"Perhaps you should add a few braids," suggested Fiora.
"Are you trying to make me look like a dwarf?" he questioned.
"You fit the image better than me," she replied.
"Perhaps," Artur responded. "But you fit the image better in height."
"That's true," replied Fiora.
The two chuckled. It has been way too long.
"I can't believe you really yelled at the leaders," stated Artur.
"If I didn't, it would have gone to war. Needless blood would have been spilled," replied Fiora. "Besides, we have enemies to worry about."
"That's so true," he responded.
"Samuil is here," informed Fiora.
"I figured you didn't come alone," he replied. "Are we going to be heading back today?"
"I have a few days before I need to be back," replied Fiora.
Artur stood up. "Let me get you a refill."
She passed the cup to him. "Your tea has gotten better."
He smiled and took the cup. "Thank you."
"You're welcome," Fiora responded.
Artur made his way to the kitchen and returned with another cup. He held it out to her.
Fiora took the cup and took a sip before setting it down.
It wasn't long when there was a knock on the door.
"I'll get it." Artur made his way to the door and answered it.
"Old-timer," came Samuil's voice.
"It's good to see you again, Samuil," he replied and stepped aside. "Come in."
Samuil stepped into the cabin.
Artur shut the door and led him over to the living room. "You became a Major, huh?"
"Yes," replied Samuil. "But I don't think I deserve it."
Fiora stood up. "Samuil, it's been eight years. You definitely earned it," she replied. "Besides, are you going to go against the Emperor and my wishes?"
"No," he replied.
Fiora nodded her head and sat back down.
The three sat down and chatted until later that day.
Samuil stood up. "I'm going to head out," he informed. "I'm staying in town."
"Let me know if anything comes up," replied Fiora.
"Will do," he responded.
Samuil left for the night.
Fiora stayed at Artur's place, and the two shared the bed.
For the next few days, the three continued to hang out. Of course, Samuil made sure to check in first.
"Artur, you ready to go?" asked Fiora.
"Just a minute. Let me pick that little booty up." He picked her up like he used to carry her.
"I'm heavier, Artur," she responded.
"No. You're light as a feather," he replied.
The two chuckled.
"Let's go!" Fiora exclaimed. "Getty up!"
"What am I a pack mule?" questioned Artur.
The two chuckled.
Artur opened the door and stepped out.
"I need my socks and shoes," stated Fiora.
Artur picked them up.
They made their way through the forest and town until they came to the jeep.
"Major, were you waiting long?" asked Fiora.
"Not really," he replied. "Your incredibly punctual. Let's get moving."
They got into the jeep and started making their way back. Fiora remained next to Artur.
Several hours later, they arrive at the palace in Yekaterinburg. Samuil pulled the jeep to a halt.
Artur and Fiora climbed out, closing the door behind them.
Samuil drove off.
Artur picked Fiora up and carried her in one arm with her sitting sideways. They made their way into the palace and through it to the throne room.
"Katyusha, you're as punctual as always," commented Peter.
The leaders were standing with a sword emblazed with the country insignia.
"Yes, Sir," replied Fiora.
"Fiora, you will be joining the Duchy of Venezia Regia Marina with the rank of Lieutenant," informed Sienna.
"And the Fuso Imperial Navy with the rank of Lieutenant," informed Mutsuhito. "You will be placed in the Fighter Regiment at Muroran Naval Base in Hokkaido."
Fiora turned to Peter.
"You will be joining the Empire of Orussia Imperial Army, 586th Fighter Regiment with the rank of Captain," he informed. "Fiora Katûša Yoshigahara, please kneel."
"Yes, Sir," responded Fiora with a salute before dropping down to one knee.
The Emperors made their way forward and performed the knighting ceremony. Each one took a turn to place the sword over her right shoulder before moving it to her left shoulder.
"You may rise," stated Peter.
Fiora stood up straight.
Peter turned to Artur. "Artur, I hear you plan to rejoin the military."
"Yes, Sir," he replied with a salute.
"It is great to have you back," responded Peter. "Since you are Katyusha's drill Sergeant, I'll be placing you in the same Regiment."
"Understood, Sir," replied Artur.
Peter turned back to Fiora. "Katyusha, your assignment is to head to Pescara, Romagna, and use your training plan on the 501st as a test run."
"Understood, Sir," responded Fiora. "Has the ship that will be taking us arrived, or are we going by plane?"
"You will be going by ship as you'll need a crew," answered Peter. "The ship has already arrived."
"Artur, I'll be leaving the crew to you," stated Fiora. "Everyone in Yekaterinburg is trustworthy, so you can relax."
"Leave it to me," he replied.
"Sirs, Mama, can the detail of the training be classified as top-secret national military information?" she requested.
"Request approved," responded Peter.
"Maybe I should classify the cave as the same," commented Mutsuhito. "Perhaps I should build a shrine down there."
"Please do," replied Fiora.
"I'll get to work on it," responded Mutsuhito.
Fiora opened the notebook. "Artur." He looked down at the notebook. "Since the 501st will be joining the training, I want you to do from here to here. Be extremely rough on me."
"I'm not sure I can do that," he replied.
"Artur, I believe in you," she responded. "I know you can do this."
"I'll do my best."
"That is all I ask for," she replied. "My identification will remain secret up until here. You'll have to call me by something else."
"How about blondie?" he suggested.
"We'll go with that."
"I would like your permission to add additional training," requested Artur.
"Permission granted," replied Fiora. "I'll also need to learn noble etiquette or witch noble etiquette."
"Katyusha," called Peter, getting her attention. "We would like for you to purify the base in Pescara, Romagna."
"Understood, Sirs, Mama," she responded as she closed the notebook. "All that is left is to pick the crew, show you my Striker Unit, and load everything into the ship. Samuil should be outside."
Artur picked her up and made his way out of the palace.
They climbed into the jeep. Samuil pulled out and drove off down the road.
It was not long when Samuil pulled the jeep into the Air Base. They climbed out.
The military personnel was glad to see him again. After a bit of a reunion, Artur called for attention and selected the crew.
"Sergeant," called Fiora.
Artur turned to her.
"Are you finished?" she asked.
"Yes," he replied.
"Come." Fiora made her way toward the hangar.
Artur followed after her.
"Wait here."
"Roger."
Fiora went inside and pulled the large hanger door open. "You can come in."
Artur made his way inside. He spotted the Striker Unit right away and made his way over.
Fiora followed him over.
"It's incredible," he commented.
Fiora didn't need to explain anything.
Artur turned and directed the men on loading the Striker Unit and armaments into the ship.
After a bit of hard work, they were prepared.
They all climbed aboard the ship and began their journey to Pescara, Romanga.
"Oh, come on, I want to kill some Neuroi," whined Erica bored as she leaned over the table in the lunch hall.
"It can't be helped. We are to stay on standby until further notice," Minna repeated for the umpteenth time. "All we can do is continue to take down Neuroi that appear."
"But that just lets the Neuroi get away and do whatever they want," said Erica before whining again. "I want to kill some Neuroi."
"I'm sure the leaders have their hands full with the latest of news," stated Mio. "They are probably trying to come up with some way to isolate the situation but are having trouble. The TSAB is even having trouble."
Barkhorn, who was sitting at the table in the lunch hall, remembered something. "Isn't there supposed to be an Instructor coming?"
"Yes," answered Minna.
"When will they be here?" asked Barkhorn.
"A week," answered Minna.
"Then all we need to do is wait and see what they have to say," stated Barkhorn. "You can use some patients until then, Erica."
"Do the leaders even know what they are doing?" questioned Erica.
"Ah!" exclaimed Barkhorn. "Tell me I didn't just hear that!"
"I'm sure the Emperors are doing everything they can," Mio ensured. "Now sit down and stop whining. You're giving me a headache, Lieutenant."
Erica sat back down in her seat, resting her head on her hands on the table and looking at everyone with a bored face.
It had been five years, and the 501st had gotten older. Minna and Barkhorn were twenty-four years old, Mio was twenty-five years old, Shirley and Erica were twenty-two years old, Yoshika was twenty years old, Sanya was nineteen years old, Lucchini was eighteen years old, and everyone else was twenty-one years old. Even though they got older, only two of them changed, and that was Perrine and Lynette. Those two grew over the five years until they hit adulthood. Minna, Mio, Barkhorn, and Shirley were already adults, so they didn't change. Erica, Sanya, Eila, Yoshika, and Lucchini didn't change, which ironically annoyed Lucchini since she ate a lot of food, yet her boobs remained small.
They continued to perform their duty to take out the Neuroi, but over the years, the majority of them were unfit for combat. It got a lot harder once Sanya was no longer fit for battle. The TSAB tried to assist them, but even with their help, there was not enough manpower. Yoshika, Lynette, Lucchini, and Erica were the only four fit for action.
After the leaders heard the news that Yoshigahara gave them, they ordered the 501st to stay on standby and continue taking out the Neuroi until further notice, and if someone tries to give them orders, send them directly to them.
"There is not much we can do until the instructor gets here," stated Minna, "so until then, all we can do is stay on standby and wait."
A week later, on August 23, 1950, they were outside in the afternoon at sixteen hundred, waiting for the Instructor to show up.
It was not long when they saw an Orussian ship appear. The 501st watched the battleship pull into port and start to dock.
"Well, it's time to meet the instructor," said Minna nervously.
Mio was nervous as her hand shook.
"Relax, Major," commented Minna. "The leaders approved of them, so they can't be that bad."
"You're one to talk," replied Mio. "You're just as nervous."
"It can't be helped," responded Minna.
Mio nodded her head in agreement, especially with the news they heard five years ago.
They made their way over to the ship to meet the Instructor, hoping they were a decent person and not one of those Resistance members. The 501st saw an Orussian military man and a girl get off the ship. It was the same blonde they saw four years ago, but she hasn't changed. They made their way over to them and stood in front of them.
Minna stepped forward. "I take it you're the Instructor."
The man remained silent.
Minna sweatdropped.
Mio stepped forward. "Pardon us, Sir," she addressed. "Is there something wrong?"
The man turned to the girl and nodded his head.
The blonde crossed the ground and disappeared into the hangar. The 501st could hear screams, shouting, and the sound of gunfire until everything fell silent. The girl came out and made her way to the man, all covered in blood.
"Took you long enough, blondie," commented the man. "You're in need of serious training."
The man couldn't be more proud of her despite having said that.
"Yes, Sir," responded the girl.
"You got ten minutes," informed the man. "Go get cleaned up before you make this place smell like a shit house."
"Yes, Sir," responded the girl.
She made her way inside the battleship.
A blonde Orussian man was directing orders to the crew aboard the ship. They made their way into the hangar with body bags and cleaning supplies.
The girl returned all clean.
"That's much better." The man turned to the 501st. "Listen up! Here is how things are going to work. You will call me Sergeant or Sir and nothing more. The furniture will be replaced. The onsen is banned."
Several of the witches looked displeased.
Erica slumped. "What a hardass."
"You got a problem, Lieutenant Hartmann?" questioned Sergeant.
Erica shrieked and straightened. "No, Sir!"
"Showers will be ten minutes," he continued to inform them. "Entertainment is banned. Communication outside the base is banned."
The crew came out of the hangar carrying body bags and disposed of them.
The man turned to Minna. "Lieutenant Colonel Minna-Dietlinde Wilcke," he addressed.
"Sir," responded Minna.
"You are relieved of paperwork," informed Sergeant. "I will be taking over the paperwork from here out. Understood, Lieutenant Colonel?"
"Yes, Sir," responded Minna.
The man turned back to them all. "Flight is banned."
Mio stepped forward. "Pardon me, Sir," she addressed. "We need to be deployed, or Romagna will be surrendered to the Neuroi."
"I will be handling that myself," responded Sergeant. "Understood, Major Sakamoto?"
"Yes, Sir," responded Mio.
The man pointed toward the 501st base.
The crew aboard the ship made their way inside and started replacing the furniture.
"Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner will be served at designated times," Sergeant continued to inform. "Breakfast will be at zero two hundred to zero three hundred. Lunch will be at twelve hundred to thirteen hundred. Dinner will be at nineteen hundred to twenty hundred. Making your meals is banned. The Orussian crew aboard the ship will provide all meals. Food is only limited to the lunch hall at the designated times. Drinks are only allowed outside of the bedrooms. I hope you all got that because I hate repeating myself."
The blonde Orussian man directing orders to the crew on the ship carried several boxes off and set them down in front of Sergeant.
The man opened the boxes to reveal military uniforms and bathroom necessities that were either in a plastic bag or not.
"You will be wearing these clothes from now on," informed the Sergeant. "The only bathroom necessities that you will be getting are right here. "If you lose or misplace your clothes and or necessities, you won't be getting more unless you pay for them. If you run out, you will get more free of charge, and don't bother trying to lie about it so you can get more, as I will find out. File in a line in front of me, and I'll pass out your clothes and necessities."
The first one in line was the blonde girl. The 501st reluctantly followed.
The man started passing them all the clothes and necessities.
After a while, everyone had a black undershirt, camouflage jacket, panties, socks, black boots, and camouflage pants, which were like the pants the men wore in their sizes. Additionally, they all had the bathroom necessities that were given to them.
"If you damage your clothes, they will be replaced free of charge. If you damage them on purpose, you will have to buy new ones," informed Sergeant. "You are required to have your uniforms on tomorrow morning. We will begin at zero three hundred, and I expect every one of you out here." He turned to Minna. "Lieutenant Colonel Minna-Dietlinde Wilcke."
"Sir," responded Minna.
"Blondie will be staying in the base," informed Sergeant. "Please lead us inside and get her a room."
"Yes, Sir," responded Minna.
The 501st turned around and led them inside the base and through the corridors.
"She can stay in this room." Minna opened a door.
The girl made her way into the room and shut the door in her face.
Sergeant turned around and made his way out of the base.
Later that day, Minna, Mio, Barkhorn, and Erica were in Minna's office.
"These chairs are so annoying," whined Erica.
The replacement chairs were steel chairs.
"It feels as if the men are trying to take over," commented Minna.
"Do you think he is one of the Resistance?" questioned Mio.
"Perhaps," replied Minna. "But the leaders approved of him."
"That just makes it all the more disconcerning," responded Mio.
"There's not much we can do about it," replied Minna. "We're banned from communicating outside the base."
"They left the phone in here," remarked Barkhorn.
"It's probably to attempt us," responded Minna.
"Or bugged," interjected Erica.
"Hmmm," hummed Mio. "That girl had Magic Antenna. Do you think she could send a message out?"
"Perhaps," replied Minna.
That evening the 501st came into the lunch hall. The lunch hall was refurnished with rows of foldable tables with the same steel chairs. That seems to be a recurrence in the base.
Minna and Mio's attention immediately shifted to the blonde girl sitting at a table eating. At least the food looked like real food instead of garbage. It seemed to be only Orussian food, but it didn't exactly look healthy.
Lucchini abandoned the idea of getting food and made her way over toward the girl. She tried to grope her from behind, only for the girl to get up and dodge her, making her smack into the table face first.
AN: Here is the seventh chapter of Magical Girl Ascension. I do hope you like it. I could have added more to this chapter, but considering it reached my goal of 4k words, I decided to end it here. We got introduced to another old character everyone called Old-timer or Old school in the Prologue and was mentioned in the first chapter. More characters may appear in the story at later chapters, depending on what happens. After fifteen years, Fiora finally joins the military. I placed her in the same Orussian regiment as Sanya. I came up with Duchy of Venezia Regia Marina when I stumbled upon some information in the trivia section of the wiki page on nations. According to the trivia, the Venezian Navy is heavily based on the Italian Regia Marina. I don't know what Fighter Regiment she is affiliated with for Venezia or Fuso. Hopeful, I did all right with the chapter, but I'll let you be the judge of that. Anyways enjoy, and I'll see you on the next chapter of Magical Girl Ascension.

Note: Stories that are "In Progress" are stories that have been started but have not been completed yet. The stories are either in the middle of a lemon, need additional information, or is taking a bit to write them out efficiently. And my attention span isn't the greatest, so you'll have to forgive me. Not to mention games have been distracting me from writing. There are other reasons why some chapters are taking me longer to write out than others.
