Chapter Text

An alarm clock on Tyler’s dresser went off he grunted as he reached over to turn it off. After looking at the calendar he realized that today was Karaoke with his friends, now feeling energized he jumped out bed and ran to the bathroom.

“Tyler is everything alright?” His mother yelled up the stairs after she heard some commotion upstairs.

“Yeah everything is fine mom.” He shouted back after he finished in bathroom. He ran to get ready for today which consisted of his purple sports jersey with the number 14 on it and some white shorts. I’m both of his wrist were multiple bracelets and a purple and white wristband.

He grabbed his backpack before riding the banister down to the kitchen where his parents were waiting for him. He walked over and gave his parents a kiss on the cheek before heading to door but before he could leave he was stopped by his mom.

“Don’t you want to have breakfast first?” She asked.

“I’ll grab breakfast at school, love you bye!” He shouted before running out the door. His parents gave each other a look before smiling.

“He’s come a long way hasn’t he?” His father said.

“Yes he has.” She said back.

Ounce he was outside Tyler had a slip in his step as he headed to school. He walked passed the now newly rebuilt sky dome and stopped for a second.

“To think that only a year ago a giant panda attacked the dome. That was one weird year.” Tyler said to himself before continuing his walk.

After a while he was greeted by his four best friends; Meilin, Abby, Miriam and Priya who saw him back and started to wave at him and he returned the wave. He ran towards them and butt bumped them and gave them their signature four figure wiggle.

“Are you ready for some karaoke?” Meilin shouted as Tyler nodded enthusiastically.

The friend group went on to have a very fun filled day with lots of bad singing and lots of junk food. By the time they had their fill it was already six thirty, Tyler’s phone was ringing which he quickly picked up.

“Yes?” He answered nervously.

“Tyler where are you? It’s late!” His mother said over the phone very angry.

“I’m sorry mom, I lost track of time of time. I’ll be home.” Tyler hung up his phone and he immediately ran out the door not answering his questions when they asked them.

He ran as fast as he so he can get home as quickly as he could.

The next morning Tyler was in the process of getting ready for school when he heard a knock on his bedroom door. He shouted come in and his mom walked inside with a gentle smile on her face.

He returned the smile and went to sit in the bed while his mother walked over to join him. “Tyler honey, I know you fell like your father and I can be overbearing at times.” She started and Tyler nodded his head and gestured her to continue. She reached her hand over and moved a strand of hair from his face and moved his chin so he’s looking her in the eye.

His mother’s eyes were the most beautiful shade of blue he had ever seen. They looked like liquid sapphires.

“But please understand, we just want to make sure nothing terrible happens to you.” She said and Tyler nodded.

Tyler always knew his parents loved him, there was no doubt about that but sometimes he wishes they would just listen to what he had to say for ounce.
