Chapter Text
Anne had turned 91 two months before. At that point, she knew that the end was near for her.
She and her wives and best friends, Marcy Wu-Boonchuy and Sasha Waybright-Boonchuy, were able to live together until two years ago. At that point, Marcy succumbed to a stroke.
One year later, Sasha passed away from lung cancer, even though she never smoked one day in her life.
Now it was Anne's turn to go on to the other side. Her best friends were waiting for her. And so was the guardian.
Numerous family members gathered by Anne's side to say goodbye to her.
At 11:26 AM Pacific Daylight Time, Anne closed her eyes for good in the world of the living.
The next minute, she was standing on the same floating island she stood on 78 years before after her first death, only now Marcy and Sasha were with her, all of them in their 13-year-old bodies.
This was the outcome Anne had hoped for. She didn't want to be guardian alone. She wanted her best friends to help her.
The guardian once again took the form of Domino.
"I've been expecting you, Anne", he said. "Marcy and Sasha have told me that numerous times over your life, you didn't want to be the guardian of the universe alone. And I'm fine with that. I've always seen you three as a single, cohesive unit."
Marcy said, "together, we can keep everything in order."
Sasha said, "we got your back Anne, just like we always have."
Anne said, "alright girls, let's do this."
The Guardian said, "here is the manual. I trust you three girls will do a good job."
Sasha said, "we did good at all our jobs in our lives. We even were a popular metal band until we all retired from that at 60. I'm sure this will be a walk in the park."
Marcy said, "alright girls, on 3, 1, 2, 3"
The three girls chanted "Sashannarcy!"
With that, the Calamity Trio was ready for the next phase in their long and illustrious friendship.
Meanwhile, the girls received some welcome visitors.
"Anne, so nice to see you again" a familiar pink male frog said.
Anne said, "Sprig!"
Polly and Hop Pop greeted them too.
Polly said, "so you finally the Cosmic Guardian?"
Hop Pop said, "you must have a huge job now".
Anne said, "yes, but I won't be doing it alone. I got Marcy and Sasha to help me."
Sprig said, "that's cool, anyway I'm going go watch a movie with Ivy."
Anne said, "see you later Sprig."

Alright, I'm open to suggestions for chapter plots. If you would, please leave your ideas in the comments. I'm looking to make this the best Cosmic Guardian story out there.
Chapter Text
Anne, in her new position as co-Cosmic Guardian, heard a scratch alongside the door of the "house" she, Marcy, and Sasha were in.
Anne went and opened the door, and was overjoyed to see who it was.
"Oh my frog, is that you Domino? I missed you so much!" Anne said as Domino rubbed against her legs as the long-awaited reunion with her master finally came to fruition.
"It's always nice to see reunions between pet and master in the afterlife", Marcy said.
"How long have you been waiting for this reunion, Anne?" Sasha asked.
Anne began to speak. "Well, she was 2 when my family adopted her. I was just 4. We had to put her down when I was 17. She was 13, which is old in cat years."
Marcy said, "I'd like to spend some time with Domino to get to know her. She must have been an awesome pet."
Sasha said, "me too, but remember we all have important jobs now."
Anne said, "that isn't lost on me. I'm just so glad to see Domino again. I've waited 74 years for this moment. None of the cats I had after Domino quite clicked with me."
Sasha said, "I know, I was with you much of the time. Marcy was too".
Anne, Marcy, and Sasha spent some quality time with Domino, which brought them much comfort as they began their new duties as Cosmic Guardians.
At this point, the three decided to make Domino their pet. This made all involved happy.
Chapter Text
Anne looked at her list of people to check up on now that she and her two best friends were co-Guardians of the Multiverse.
"Let's check up on Maggie Summers," Anne said.
"You mean the girl who used to bully you because you were Thai-American?" Marcy said.
Anne said, "yes, but she changed after Frogvasion. We kept in touch for 48 years after I graduated high school. She died at 66 but I never found out why in my lifetime, nor did I know that she died until after I did. We'll I'm about to find out now."
Sasha said, "I wonder what she was like as an adult."
The co-Guardians headed to another point in the Multiverse where they found Maggie. Her pad was similar to the one she had in her adult life, but she was now in her 13-year-old body, much like Anne, Marcy, and Sasha.
Maggie turned to notice Anne and her best friends outside her pad.
"Anne Bounchuy? Is that really you?" Maggie asked.
"Yep, it's me, Marcy and Sasha, in the flesh" Anne said. "I've been waiting 25 years to hear from you again. I had no idea you were dead until I kicked the bucket myself."
"Well, one day I was out jogging, and I suffered a massive heart attack. Paramedics tried so hard to revive me, but I was a goner. I guess my family neglected to tell you. But hey, at 66 years old, I had lived a good life after Frogvasion. Which by the way, you did awesome Anne, you, Marcy and Sasha. My life would have gone in a much different, and probably worse direction without Frogvasion", Maggie said. "Again, I apologize for all the bullying I used to do you."
"Nobody's perfect Maggie, I know from experience with my best friends and later wives", Anne said.
At that that very moment, Anne revealed the reason for why she and her best friends were checking up on Maggie. "By the way Maggie, after I died, I became Guardian of the Multiverse. The past Guardian stepped down after 10,000 years. But being that Marcy and Sasha passed before me, it was arranged for them to be co-Guardians with me."
Maggie was very impressed, and that probably was the understatement of the year. "Co-Guardians? You mean you three are in charge of everything that is, has been, and will be?"
Sasha said, "yes, and we got quite a job on our hands. For the longest time me, Anne, and Marcy have functioned as a single cohesive unit, both in life and in death. Anne wouldn't have wanted it any other way."
Maggie said, "glad we had this opportunity to catch up. Good luck looking out for everything that is, has been and will be."
Chapter 5
Notes:
This chapter features the Los Angeles Rams of the NFL as they are about to start their 2100 season. I chose the Patriots for their opponent because the NFL scheduling rotation as it exists now has the entire NFC West play the entire AFC East in years divisible by 4. Barring any changes in the NFL by 2100, the Rams would be hosting the Patriots in that season.
Chapter Text
The 2100 Los Angeles Rams season was about to begin. They were debuting a new starting quarterback, Eric Hudson, who is fresh off a record-setting career at UCLA, having also played high school football in LA. Today, they were playing host to the New England Patriots, who were the most successful team of the first two decades of the 21st century. Alas, this was to be the last NFL season before the new century started.
Hudson was very nervous about his first NFL start. Then again, a lot of rookies are.
The first half of his first game did not go well. He was sacked 5 times and threw four interceptions as the Patriots raced out to a 28-0 lead at halftime.
At this point, Eric felt like he was going to be a huge NFL draft bust. He couldn't be blamed for feeling that. A lot of highly-touted NFL draftees end up not living to expectations.
Meanwhile on the other side, co-Guardians Anne Boonchuy, Marcy Wu, and Sasha Waybright were watching the game. The Rams were their favorite NFL team in life, the team having returned to the city of Los Angeles in the year they all turned 10 after 21 seasons in St. Louis, Missouri.
Marcy remained a Rams fan even in the years she didn't live in Los Angeles. Anne and Sasha attended the parade to celebrate the Rams' victory in Super Bowl LVI against the Cincinnati Bengals, doing so separately as they were starting to disconnect around this time.
When Marcy returned to LA on Anne's 23rd birthday, the girls decided to live their lives together from there on out, attending subsequent Super Bowl victory parades for the Rams together.
In seeing Eric Hudson faltering during the first half of his first game, the co-Guardians were very alarmed, none more so than Sasha. Eric was a biological descendant of Sasha, who was the only one of the three open to artificial insemination as she was bisexual, whereas Anne and Marcy were lesbians.
"Eric is doing pretty bad out there. We have to do something to protect our family name", Sasha said.
"We've given guidance to several people over the three years we've been Guardians, but this must be the most important task yet", Marcy said.
Anne said, "we need to appear to him and give him hope to turn things around."
In the Rams' locker room at SoFi Stadium, Eric was having an existential crisis. He was thinking his NFL career was over, even though the head coach had not yet pulled him from the game. But soon, he wouldn't need to, because some very holy help was coming down to show him the way.
Eric saw Anne, Marcy, and Sasha in their 13-year-old bodies. He was shocked at what he had saw. He said, "great-grandmothers Anne, Marcy, and Sasha, what are you doing here, you're supposed to be dead."
Sasha said, "we are, and we now serve a new purpose in existence. We are the Guardians of all that was, is, and ever will be."
Anne said, "we saw your first half performance, and thought you needed our help."
Marcy said, "all three of us faced tough challenges when we were among the living, but we overcame them each time. Like when all of existence was threatened by King Andrias and the Core."
Eric said, "I read about all of that. Do you really think I could pull off a comeback?"
Sasha said, "yes you can Eric, overcoming adversity is the Boonchuy way."
Anne said, "we believe in you Eric, do the family name proud."
Marcy said, "go out there and win!"
With newfound confidence instilled, Eric's second half went much better than his first. He led the Rams to five touchdowns in the second half while the defense kept the Patriots from scoring.
Eric's effort to lead the Rams back from 28 points down at halftime did not go unnoticed in the national media. He won several weekly awards for the performance.
Chapter 6
Summary:
This is by far my longest chapter of this story. It has more words than all the previous chapters combined. In it the Calamity Trio checks in on loved ones from both Earth and Amphibia.
Chapter Text
Now, the Co-Guardians decided to check on loved ones from both their lives on Earth and in Amphibia.
Anne started with her parents.
"Guess what mom and dad?" Anne said upon the long-awaited reunion with her parents.
"Anne! We've been waiting a long time to see you again!" Mr. Boonchuy said.
"What is it you wanted to tell us?" Mrs. Boonchuy said.
"Now that me and my wives are dead, we are the Guardians of all that was, is, and ever will be. You see, I already died once in Amphibia at the age of 13, but I was sent back to the world of the living after agreeing to take on the job after living an additional 78 years. Fortuitously, I was able to outlive Marcy and Sasha, so we could do the job together from the get-go. We're checking in on loved ones from our lives on Earth and in Amphibia right now. I just wanted to see how you were doing," Anne said.
"Anne, I'm so proud of you and your friends for taking on such a tough job," Mr. Boonchuy said.
"We also had no idea you had a death at age 13. But the fact that you were able to come back for another 78 years was amazing. You got to have us for a lot of that time. We always thought you were most complete with Marcy and Sasha at your side. We've known it ever since you came out to us that you were dating both of them at the same time," Mrs. Boonchuy said.
"You're going to see a lot more of me. We're together again and I will be giving regular check-ins to all the ones most beloved to me in life. I have to check in on the Sundew-Plantar family now," Anne said.
Her parents wished her good luck as she went to check in on the Sundew-Plantar family now. The two families had become united when Sprig and Ivy got married.
"Greetings, Sundew-Plantar family," Anne said.
"Anne, nice to see you!" Hop Pop said.
In this chamber was Hop Pop, Sprig, Polly, the latter two's parents, Ivy, her parents and grandmother, and the children of Sprig and Ivy. Anne was meeting a lot of these frogs for the first time.
"Me, Marcy and Sasha are the co-Guardians of all that was, is and ever will be now. We have quite a job on our hands," Anne said.
"Sprig and me told our kids all about you over the years, they are so excited to meet you," Ivy said.
Anne also got to meet Sprig and Polly's parents. Overall, the Sundew-Plantar family was very happy to be together in death.
Sasha first checked on her parents. She never had the best relationship with them in life, but nevertheless, held them very dear in her heart.
She had been shy about checking up on them since passing on, but now with both of her wives by her side she worked up the courage to talk to them.
"Mom, dad, it's me, Sasha. I've been dead for a year," Sasha said.
"Sasha, what a surpise!" Mr. Waybright said.
"About time you see us," Mrs. Waybright said.
"How are you two doing? I know this family wasn't all that cohesive in life, but now that we're together in the afterlife, we can start anew," Sasha said.
"We understand Sasha, since we both died we had a lot of time to work on our issues between each other. The Guardian helped us through everything," Mr. Waybright said.
"And once we worked our issues out, we graciously awaited the day of your death," Mrs. Waybright said.
"Funny you mention the Guardian, the one you worked with stepped down from his job after my wife and friend Anne died. She, me, and Marcy were a set of three wives in our adult lives. Anne was the last of us to die. At that point, we became the new Guardians of all that was, is and ever will be. We all decided to check in on loved ones once we took the job," Sasha said.
"You three always seemed inseparable. Which is why we were sad when Marcy and her family moved. But when we heard she came back to LA 10 years later and began a poly relationship with you and Anne, we were so excited," Mr. Waybright said.
"And now you three are like Gods, literally. We have faith that you will do a good job," Mrs. Waybright said.
"We sure will," Sasha said.
Sasha next checked in on her three favorite toads, starting with Grime.
"Hey Grime, what's up?" Sasha said.
"Sasha! I haven't seen you since you and your friends went into the portal for the final time! I've been waiting to see you again!" Grime said.
"The feeling is mutual. I decided to wait until me, Marcy and Anne were all dead. We worked best as a unit in life. We even got married to each other. Marcy was the first to go, she had a stroke. I was a goner one year later, I had lung cancer, which was strange because I never smoked. Anne joined us a year later. Now we are the co-Guardians of all that was, is and ever will be," Sasha said.
"Sasha, you were great as a leader in life and now you're one in death. I'm so proud of you and your new job," Grime said.
"I need to see how Percy and Braddock are doing now, but I'll be checking in on you regularly alongside me and my wives' other duties, such as providing guidance to select living beings," Sasha said.
"Good luck Sasha," Grime said.
Sasha went over to check on Percy and Braddock next. After Sasha and her friends left Amphibia forever, Percy and Braddock got married. Sasha never found out in life because no way to return to Amphibia was ever devised in her and her wives' lifetimes, although it was close to being accomplished at the time of Anne's death.
Percy and Braddock raised a large family, and Sasha would get to meet their kids for the first time ever now that she was dead.
"Percy, Braddock, I've been waiting to see you two again. I know our friendship didn't end so well in life, but now that we are dead, we can make amends," Sasha said.
"Ever since we heard you left Amphibia for good, our decision to abandon you and Grime haunted us for the rest of our lives," Percy said.
"Believe me, this was just as much my fault as it was both of yours, I should have never disregarded your safety," Sasha said.
"Don't worry Sasha, after Andrias and the Core were defeated, we turned ourselves in to Grime but given that a new world of peace and harmony was coming to Amphibia in the wake of the Core's defeat he went easy on us. We spent only two years in prison, and then we got married and started a family," Braddock said.
Percy and Braddock's kids were excited to meet Sasha. They learned quite a lot about her in the years since the Core's defeat.
Marcy started with her parents as well.
"Hi mom, hi dad," Marcy said.
"Marcy, we're so glad to see you again after these years," Mr. Wu said.
"We followed your web comic throughout the years until we died. We're so proud of you for having accomplished something like that," Mrs. Wu said.
"Now I'm here and we can be a family again. Speaking of which, I got together with Anne and Sasha after I returned to LA for good. It was something we had wanted for years but we didn't realize it until we were 23," Marcy said.
"We remember you telling us that," Mr. Wu said.
"Now me, Anne, and Sasha have a new responsibility. We are the Guardians of all that was, is, and ever will be. We always worked best as a cohesive unit. Now we're putting that to the test in the afterlife," Marcy said.
"Wow, that's quite the job you three have. Good luck Marcy," Mrs. Wu said.
Marcy next checked on Olivia and Yunan. They had quite a lot of catching up to do after Marcy left Amphibia for good.
Olivia and Yunan had gotten married and settled down in Wartwood, raising a family which was told numerous stories about Marcy over the years. Now the kids would get a chance to meet Marcy, and Marcy was just as excited to see them.
"Olivia, Yunan, long time no see!" Marcy said.
"Marcy! We've been waiting to see you again!" Olivia said.
"Come meet our kids! They've been dying to meet you!" Yunan said.
Marcy introduced herself to Olivia and Yunan's kids and they introduced themselves to her.
"Now that's out of the way, I've got some exciting news for you. Me, Anne, and Sasha are now the Guardians of all that was, is and ever will be," Marcy said.
"That's quite the job you three have," Olivia said.
"But you three got this, you helped save all of existence from the Core, now you three are going to guide all of existence through the next, I don't know how many number of years," Yunan said.
"Me, Anne and Sasha always worked best together, now to check on someone else special to me," Marcy said.
Marcy decided to check up on Andrias. While they didn't have the best relationship after the true intentions of Andrias were revealed, he was able to redeem himself in the end, and graciously awaited seeing Marcy again as he waited for his delayed death. But in death he got to reunite with Barrel and Leif. Their friendship was restored once they all were dead. Andrias was eager to introduce them and Marcy.
"Hi Andrias, I know we didn't have the easiest bond life, but I just want to tell you I forgive you for everything, because you did have a change of heart in the end," Marcy said.
"Marcy, it's good that you forgive me. In the last 20 years after I finished my sentence, and during my sentence, I had a lot of time to think about my actions. I realized I was wrong for everything I did. But now that I am dead, I got the chance to set things right with Barrel and Leif. And I told them all about you. They want to meet you," Andrias said.
"Marcy, it is an honor to meet you," Barrel said.
"We heard of your exploits in saving existence from the Core, we say that was pretty hardcore," Leif said.
"So you're Barrel and Leif? I heard about your friendship with Andrias. I'm sorry it got destroyed in life, but I'm glad you three were able to make up in death," Marcy said.
"I'm glad for that too," Andrias said.
"Same here," Barrel said.
"Ditto," Leif said.
"Anyway you three, I have exciting news. Me, Anne, and Sasha are now the Guardians of all that was, is, and ever will be. We were a unit in life, and now we're one in death," Marcy said.
"I was told about this by the previous Guardian. I was under the impression Anne would do it alone. How did you and Sasha get to share the duties?" Andrias said.
"Well, somehow it was written in the stars that I would die first, then Sasha, then last but not least Anne. With Anne being the last of us living, me and Sasha got together with the Guardian and it was arranged for us three to be co-Guardians when Anne got here, we figured she wouldn't want to do it alone," Marcy said.
"Well imagine that. Of course I'm not surprised. You three were the best of friends," Andrias said.
"And as adults, we got married to each other, after a historic law was passed allowing groups of up to 4 people to get married to each other. That law going into effect was the second happiest day in our lives. Our wedding day was #1," Marcy said.
"Never would I have guessed that you three would raise a family together. But we're almost at the 22nd century. Things are more progressive now than ever," Andrias said.
With that, the girls completed their check-ins on loved ones. None of their adult children had passed yet, nor any other descendants of them. The time to see descendants in the afterlife would come one day, but not yet.
One of their great-grandchildren was now a star QB for the Los Angeles Rams. There have been other famous descendants in their bloodline too, but we'll get into those another day.
Meanwhile, Marcy brought the Divorce Trio over to Anne and Sasha. The two trios getting to meet each other for the first time was the highlight of their afterlives thus far. They had quite an interesting conversation. One of the things the Divorce Trio found amazing was the fact that when the three built a big house for themselves to raise a family in, they had a bathroom attached to their bedroom that had three toilets side-by-side, in case all three needed to go at the same time, which showed the dedication to each other that they had.
Chapter Text
OK while I did reveal causes of death for Marcy and Sasha, I never did so for Anne. So this "chapter" is really just me revealing Anne's cause of death in this story.
Anne's cause of death was heart failure. The health of her heart started deteriorating soon after Sasha's death. Similarly, Sasha's lung cancer diagnosis came shortly after Marcy's death.
So yeah, it was written in the stars that the three be Guardians together with Anne being the last of the three to pass.
Chapter Text
Today was the inauguration for a newly-elected president of Amphibia. After the Core was defeated and Andrias was deposed, Amphibia transitioned towards a democratic government.
The president being inaugurated was none other than Basil Plantar, a great-grandson of Sprig and Ivy Plantar.
Naturally, he was nervous about taking the oath of office, then taking office itself. He was the latest in a long line of politicians in the Plantar family to be elected. Sprig was at one point the mayor of Wartwood, while his sister Polly was deputy mayor alongside him.
A crowd of Basil's followers awaited him outside. But all of a sudden, he had stage fright. He had no problem taking the stage when he was running for president of Amphibia, but now that he was about to be sworn in, he feared that he would not do a good job in the position he was elected to.
All of a sudden, three figures who all appeared to be 13-year-old human girls appeared before him.
Basil said, "who are you?"
The girls introduced themselves as Anne Boonchuy, Sasha Waybright, and Marcy Wu.
Basil said, "I've heard of you three and your exploits here in Amphibia. But that was a long time ago. I would think you three would be dead by now."
Anne said, "we are, but we aren't just any ordinary ghosts. We are the Guardians all that was, is, and ever will be. And when someone in the multiverse needs our help, we appear to them to show them the way. Looks like you could use some holy guidance."
Sasha said, "from what I can gather, you are about to take office as president of Amphibia. Congratulations on your victory in the election. I can tell you are nervous about leading Amphibia the next 4 years. But you come from a long line of great leaders. You're a Plantar. And so many Plantars before you were successful."
Marcy said, "we three were great leaders in life too, when we needed to stop the Core from destroying all of existence back in 2019. And now we are leading the way in death. Basil, you got this, do the Plantar family proud."
Basil said, "you're right you three. I was a born leader. The people of Amphibia are counting on me. And I shall deliver the best four years Amphibia has ever had under any leader. My predecessors are going to be so proud of me. Especially you great-grandfather Sprig."
Basil went out onto the stage and perhaps delivered the most passionate speech ever delivered by an elected official in Amphibia. Certainly, Amphibia had come a long way since the reign of King Andrias, who prolonged it and his life with cybernetic enhancements, keeping him from reuniting with his friends Barrel and Leif in the afterlife for quite a long time.
Basil would end up being the most popular president in the history of Amphibia up through the end of his second and final term eight years later. And rest assured, he would not be the last Plantar to hold elected office in Amphibia. Far from it, in fact.
Meanwhile, the Calamity Trio continued to help those who needed it the most. It was part of their job as co-Guardians of all that was, is, and ever will be. And they had no intention of giving up this job. They liked it too much, more so than the previous Guardian, who had designated Anne as his successor, but Anne wouldn't have wanted to do it alone. She would have wanted Marcy and Sasha by her side. And that was the most satisfying outcome.
Chapter 9
Notes:
I just want you to let you know that this is a non-linear story. There's no set chronological order for the chapters. For instance, this chapter takes place on the first Friday on the job for the three.
Chapter Text
Today was the first Friday since Anne Boonchuy, Sasha Waybright, and Marcy Wu became Guardians of all that was, is, and ever will be.
And this was important, because in the afterlife, for the Guardians, Fridays were Bagel Fridays. A baker's dozen of bagels would be left at the doorstep for the trio. And they would not all come from the same place every time, so that there could be variety as to what kind of bagels the girls would get to eat.
Today, a mysterious figure left a box of 13 bagels, the amount in a baker's dozen, from Einstein Bros. Bagels. Again, the bagels wouldn't always be from there. Other national chains would be used, at times well-regarded local bagel shops would provide the bagels to the Guardians, to allow for varieties that may not be available at one of the national chains.
"I'm so excited girls!" Anne exclaimed.
"Excited for what?" Sasha asked.
"It's Friday, what is there to be excited about?" Marcy asked.
"In my first venture to this dimension at 13, I was told that Fridays in the afterlife would be Bagel Fridays. And today is the first Friday since we started our new jobs. So today is the first Bagel Friday for us," Anne said.
Anne went outside the door to retrieve the 13 bagels from Einstein Bros. for the girls to share. The three girls decided to take turns eating five bagels every Friday while the other two ate four apiece.
In today's box were plain, everything, French toast, Chocolate chip, blueberry, Asiago cheese, cheesy hash brown, green chile, six-cheese, jalapeno cheddar, apple cinnamon, spinach Florentine, cinnamon raisin, and ancient grain bagels.
With them were six containers of cream cheese, which Einstein Bros. called Shmears. Each was a different flavor: plain, honey almond, garden veggie, onion and chive, strawberry, and jalapeno salsa.
The idea was try and pick the perfect Shmear for each bagel. Each Shmear paired well with a specific kind of bagel.
To determine which of the girls would get each kind of bagel, a hat containing thirteen slips of paper, each with a name of a different kind of bagel written on it, was provided. Since Anne was the first of the three to be approached with the job of becoming Guardian, it was agreed she'd get five bagels today.
The girls of course didn't need to eat their bagels all at once. They could space them out as needed, as long as the Shmears were kept refrigerated.
The first Bagel Friday was a hit with the girls, as Anne expected it to be. The girls were thus far enjoying their jobs as co-Guardians of all that was, is and ever will be. And of course they wanted to do it forever, unlike the previous Guardians.
The girls couldn't wait for the next Bagel Friday. In determining the rotation for who got five bagels, they went by last name, so next Friday it would be Sasha's turn, then Marcy after that, and back to Anne, then the cycle would repeat.
Chapter 10
Notes:
The Earth events in this chapter take place long after the Earth events in the first. Again, this is a non-linear work, so chapters are not in chronological order.
Chapter Text
(Wednesday, November 17, 2123)
Sprig Boonchuy had turned 91 the previous June. He had been suffering from pancreatic cancer the past five years. He was 65 years old when the last of his mothers, Anne, died at 91. Sprig's health had deteriorated rapidly in the past several months.
With numerous friends and family members at his side, Sprig spoke his final words. "Mothers Anne, Sasha, and Marcy, I'm on my way to see you."
Sprig, named for one of Anne's frog friends in Amphibia, lived a good life. Just three of his siblings – younger brother Grime and younger sisters Polly and Yulivia were still alive. But he wouldn't have to wait too long for them to join him.
(Friday, November 17, 2124)
Polly Boonchuy was herself now 91 years old. As with Sprig, she was named for one of Anne's frog friends in Amphibia. She too had cancer, that of the liver, which she managed to keep healthy for most of her life as unlike her mothers, she abstained from alcohol.
As with Sprig the previous year, numerous friends and family members of Polly were at her side on her death bed.
Alas, Polly's time was up. One year after the death of her brother Sprig, Polly passed away herself. Her last words were "two down, two to go."
(Saturday, November 17, 2125)
Grime Boonchuy turned 91 in June. All his siblings had their birthdays in June as they were all conceived by Sasha through artificial insemination. Sasha was bisexual and thus the only one of the three willing to undergo that. Anne and Marcy were lesbians.
Like all his siblings, Grime had cancer. His was of the esophageal kind. And like his other siblings, he led a good life.
But now his time was at an end. Numerous friends and family members came to say goodbye to him. At the same time, Grime awaited seeing his mothers and older siblings again.
Grime's last words before his pronunciation of death were "take good care Yulivia. You're the last of us."
Grime of course was named for the toad most endearing to Sasha in Amphibia.
(Sunday, November 17, 2126)
Yulivia Boonchuy, who turned 91 in June, was the last of her siblings still alive. Her cancer was leukemia. Now she too was on her death bed. It seemed written in the stars that the children of the Calamity Trio would all pass at 91 over successive years.
91 was the age Anne passed away at. With Yulivia's death, her generation of the Boonchuy family would be completely extinct.
Numerous friends and family members were at Yulivia's side to watch her cross over into the afterlife, as with her older siblings. Yulivia was a combination of Yunan and Olivia, two newts who were very important to Marcy in Amphibia.
Yulivia's last words were, "mothers, siblings, we can finally be a family again."
(Multiverse)
Yulivia woke up in a younger body than the one she had at the time of her death, like her older siblings and her mothers had done after they all had died.
"Glad you could finally make it Yulivia", Sprig said.
"This is the moment I've been waiting for my entire afterlife", Polly said.
"Our mothers have such cool jobs now that they are dead," Grime said.
Yulivia greeted her mothers Anne, Sasha, and Marcy. "Moms, I am finally here! I heard you have some cool jobs, what do you do now that you are dead?"
Anne said, "Yulivia, me, Sasha and Marcy are the Guardians of all that was, is, and ever will be."
Sasha said, "it was supposed to be just Anne."
Marcy said, "but seeing as me and Sasha kicked the bucket before Anne, the previous Guardian contacted us and told us about Anne becoming the Guardian after her death. We insisted on doing the job alongside her. She wouldn't have wanted it any other way."
Yulivia said, "that's pretty cool you three get to watch over all of existence. But now that we're a family again, let's all take a picture together."
Sprig said, "good idea."
The Calamity Trio and their kids brought over frog Sprig to take a picture of the loving family.
Frog Sprig said, "say cheese!" so he could get the humans to smile, then took the picture once they were all smiling.
Chapter Text
Anne Boonchuy worked with numerous amphibian specimens over her time as an employee of the Aquarium of the Pacific. Given that every species she worked with had a much shorter expected lifespan than humans, whenever one of the animals at the amphibian exhibit had to be put down she expressed sadness, but at the same time, she knew she would see them again as a Guardian of all that was, is, and ever will be.
She first worked at the aquarium at age 22, shortly after graduating from California State University, Los Angeles, a year before she reunited with Marcy and Sasha for good. She would work for the aquarium for 53 years, retiring at age 75, when she felt she had enough money to live off of for the rest of her life between her AOTP job and her side gig as a member of the metal band Calamity with her best friends-turned wives. The band Calamity itself ceased being active after all three members turned 75, wishing to settle down as their lives winded down. Anne, Marcy, and Sasha lived off retirement benefits for the rest of their lives.
And now with all three as co-Guardians, Anne took it upon herself to look in on the animals she worked with at the Aquarium of the Pacific, who were all after-living in a paradise of sorts. She brought her co-Guardians with her.
"Girls, these are all the animals I worked with during my time at the Aquarium of the Pacific", Anne said. When the animals sensed Anne's presence, they all ran towards her, so to speak.
"These amphibians must really like you," Sasha said.
"They really couldn't wait to see you again it seems," Marcy said.
"I was very popular at the Aquarium of the Pacific. The day I retired from there was very emotional," Anne said.
"I remember that, me and Sasha were there. Practically no one could keep it together that day," Marcy said.
The former exhibited animal that showed the most affection towards Anne was the pink frog she named Sprig after the frog boy she knew in Amphibia.
With a happy reunion in the books, Anne, Marcy and Sasha looked towards the next time someone in the living realm needed their help. They also hoped to visit great-grandson Eric Hudson, quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams, again, if he led the Rams to a victory in the Super Bowl. The girls witnessed several Super Bowl victories for the Rams in life. Because of their guidance during his first game, he had an awesome rookie season, although the Rams ended up losing in the Divisional Playoffs.
Chapter Text
Anne Boonchuy, Sasha Waybright, and Marcy Wu, who were best friends in childhood, were not in contact with each other as much after Marcy moved to Massachusetts at age 13.
During this time, each of the girls had separate friend circles.
The girls would reunite at 23, and later married each other, but never lost touch with their high school friend circles.
Earlier today, each of the girls checked in on the friends they made in high school. They were amazed that Anne, Sasha, and Marcy were now looking after all of existence. In turn, they decided to introduce their high school friend circles to each other, an event that proved a resounding success.
Anne said, "I don't know why we didn't bring our high school friend circles together in life once we were all married."
Sasha said, "I guess it just slipped our minds."
Marcy said, "these things happen."
Merging friend circles was something Marcy had witnessed on an episode of The Loud House in life.
In the episode "Everybody Loves Leni", Leni Loud, the second eldest child of Lynn Loud Sr. and Rita Loud, had to balance the time she spent with her work friends and her school friends. Eventually, to make everyone happy, she introduced her respective friend circles to each other.
While things got off to a rocky start, the merger of friend circles turned out to be a success.
So Marcy knew a thing or two about this. While there was some regret it was not done while they were all alive, they were all together now in death and that was what mattered.

Chapter Text
Today, Anne decided to check in on someone special who helped her get back to Amphibia after having been thrust back to Earth in the wake of Andrias' true intentions being revealed.
Anne said, "Terri, how have you been?"
Terri said, "Anne, I've been waiting to see you again. I deeply apologize you weren't able to get back to Amphibia again. My family continued my work after I was physically unable to continue working on cross-dimension travel myself."
Anne said, "that's OK Terri, I got to catch up with everyone after I died. Me, Marcy, and Sasha are now the Guardians of all that was, is, and ever will be. I understand regular cross-dimension travel was close to being perfected at the time of my death."
Terri said, "that's cool that you and your friends are now watching over all of existence. As far as cross-dimension travel goes, yes, I've been watching over my family as they continued my work after my death. I expect a breakthrough any moment. A pocket device that allows people to move from dimension to dimension any time they want was the ultimate goal. And once it goes on the market, my dream will be realized."
Anne said, "as a Guardian, I can make visits to anywhere in the Multiverse any time I want without the need for an electronic device. This is usually to provide guidance to someone who is down."
Terri said, "you and your friends should check in on my family sometime."
Anne said, "we will, by the way, we became more just friends in our adult wives, we got married to each other."
Terri said, "that's wonderful."
Notes:
The device Terri is talking about is very similar to the portal gun on Rick and Morty. Just thought I should point that out.
Chapter 14
Notes:
If I had to give this fic a theme song, it would be "See You on the Other Side" by Ozzy Osbourne, which is about loved ones reuniting in the afterlife, which is a key theme in this story. I invite you to listen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IiZ7tpjac-g
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
After the Boiling Isles were repaired, it became possible for Luz and her friends, the Hexsquad – which consisted of full-time members Luz, Amity, Gus, Willow, and Hunter, plus honorary member Mattholomule – to travel between the Human Realm and Demon Realm any time they wished.
Luz convinced the others to attend the University of Connecticut in Storrs with her after graduating from the University of Wild Magic, and after graduation settled in the Los Angeles area, with Luz and Amity building a house for themselves. Hunter and Willow did as well. And so did Gus and Mattholomule. All three pairs were dating each other and eventually got married.
All three houses ended up getting a door to the Demon Realm themselves, magically appearing after each house was christened.
In Los Angeles, the Hexsquad first had the pleasure of meeting the band Calamity – consisting of Anne Boonchuy, Sasha Waybright, and Marcy Wu – by virtue of winning backstage passes in a contest sponsored by local rock FM station KLOS. The Hexsquad and Calamity Trio formed a big friendship that lasted the rest of their lives. The Hexsquad formed the official Calamity Fan Club.
All six members of the Hexsquad ended up living until they were 91 years old, like Anne did. Hunter Morris, as the oldest, was the first to go, having suffered from dementia late in life. Luz, Amity, and Willow all passed away in the same year, with Luz succumbing to heart disease, Amity to a brain tumor, and Willow to liver failure. Mattholomule passed away from bone cancer 2 years later, and Gus passed away from oral cancer the year after that.
Finally, the entire Hexsquad was reunited in the afterlife upon the passing of Gus.
"Gus, you're here finally!" Luz said.
"Welcome to the afterlife", Amity said.
"Feels so good to be together again," Hunter said.
"Hexsquad forever!" Willow said.
"And you, my love, we are united once more", Mattholomule said.
Just as soon as the reunion of Hexsquad occurred, Anne, Sasha and Marcy approached them.
"So the leaders of the Official Calamity Fan Club are finally together in the afterlife," Anne said.
"We've been anticipating this moment," Sasha said.
"Because we got some exciting news to share with you," Marcy said.
"What is it?" Luz asked.
"Me, Sasha and Marcy are now the Guardians of all that was, is and ever will be," Anne said.
"We're basically Gods now, looking after all of existence," Sasha said.
"That's really cool," Amity said.
"Since we're all dead now, how about Calamity plays a private show, just for the six of you?" Marcy asked.
"That would be appreciated," Hunter said.
So, with all nine in their adolescent bodies once again, the Calamity Trio, as the metal band Calamity, played a private show just for the Hexsquad. And Calamity sounded just as good as they did in their heyday among the living.
Notes:
There will be more TOH stuff where that came from.
Chapter Text
Now that the Hexsquad was together in the afterlife, they decided to check in on loved ones.
Luz started with hers, first her parents would be checked in on.
"Hi mama, hi papa," Luz said.
"Mija, so nice to see you again!" Camila exclaimed.
"We are so proud of the woman you grew up to be," Manny said.
"Papa, I've been dreaming of the day I would see you again ever since your death. Given you passed in September, I began to relate to the Green Day song 'Wake Me Up When September Ends'. The writer of the song also lost his father in September," Luz said.
"How did you like the 'Good Witch Azura' series Luz?" Manny said.
"It was the best book series I ever read. I became a popular writer and artist in adulthood. And get this – I learned how to do magic in another realm called the Demon Realm on the Boiling Isles, allow me to demonstrate some of what I learned," Luz said.
Luz did some demonstrations for her father, who was amazed.
"Luz, I had no idea you went into this other realm, but you learned quite a lot there," Manny said.
"Mija, us being a family again in death will allow us to do a lot of catching up," Camila said.
"Yes indeed, but there are some other loved ones I have to check in on," Luz said.
"I know, Eda and King," Camila said.
Luz checked in on her adoptive family from the Boiling Isles next.
"Eda, King, nice to see you again," Luz said.
"Hi Kiddo," Eda said.
"Boo Boo Buddy! I've been waiting for this moment a long time!" King said.
"I've been waiting too. Death tends to bring out the best in loved ones who have been separated a long time," Luz said.
"Though I never got my magic back, seeing you learn everything possible in magic made me so proud," Eda said.
"And I served as a fitting successor to my father," King said.
"Who lives in the Owl House now by the way?" Luz asked.
"I think one of your descendants does. They are following in your footsteps and learning wild magic," Eda said.
"I will be so proud of them," Luz said.
Luz's wife Amity checked in on her family. Being the youngest of her siblings, both of them as well as their parents predeceased Amity.
"Amity, nice to see you," Odalia said.
"We are so proud of the witch you grew up to be," Alador said.
"Amity! Long time no see!" Emira exclaimed.
"We're a family again," Edric said.
"Yeah, I lived a nice life after the Boiling Isles were repaired. Of course I did make those visits from my homes in Los Angeles through the doors that magically appeared in the homes I lived in with Luz and our kids. We all did. Being the last of us five to pass, I couldn't wait to see you all again. But hey, 91 years is a long time to live," Amity said.
"Emira and Edric have descendants living on the Boiling Isles now. You should have the co-Guardians take you to see them sometime." Alador said.
"They would love to meet you any way they can," Odalia said.
"I'll see if they'll do it," Amity said.
Hunter had only one loved one outside of the family he started with Willow in adulthood. And they were quite an important one.
A small red cardinal flew over to him and perched himself upon his right shoulder. "Flapjack, it's been so long," Hunter said. "Losing you was the most devastating thing I went through. But now we're together again. I'm never letting you leave my side again."
Willow checked in on her fathers, Gilbert and Harvey, who adopted her after her birth parents died while she was an infant.
"Dads, I'm here finally," Willow said.
"Willow, bring it in!" Gilbert said.
"We missed you so much," Harvey said.
"I've been waiting to see you too. Me and Hunter raised a family together. None of our kids have passed on, but you should meet them when they do," Willow said.
"We are proud of everything you accomplished in adulthood," Gilbert said.
"And we are glad to have such a nice man as a son-in-law," Harvey said.
Gus checked in on his father, Perry.
"Hey dad, it's me, Gus," Gus said.
"Son, you have no idea how glad I am to see you," Perry said.
"I grew up to be a fine young man," Gus said.
"You sure did," Perry said.
"How have you been since your death, dad?" Gus asked.
"Fine, other than a long wait to see you again," Perry said.
"Well I'm here now, and that's what matters," Gus said.
Mattholomule checked on his half-brother Steve.
"Hi Steve," Mattholomule said.
"Hi Matt," Steve said.
"I've been waiting to see you again. We can be brothers again," Mattholomule said.
"I want that more than anything else in all of existence, wanna hang out?" Steve said.
"Sure thing bro," Mattholomule said.
Chapter Text
Anne Boonchuy, one of the three co-Guardians, walked up to King Clawthorne.
"King, there is someone who wants to see you," Anne said.
"Who?" King asked.
"Your father," Anne said.
"My dad? You mean Papa Titan?" King said.
"Yes," Anne said.
"King, I've been waiting a long time for this moment", Papa Titan said.
"Dad, I missed you so much," King said.
"You grew up to be a worthy successor to me. Alas, our species is now extinct in the world of the living," Papa Titan said.
"A real shame, but at least magic continues to thrive on the Boiling Isles," King said.
"I watched over Luz as she lived her adult life. She made a lot of bread as an artist and writer," Papa Titan said.
"Of course, a bread pun!" King exclaimed.
"You wouldn't have wanted it stated any other way," Papa Titan said.
A being that appeared to be a human girl with green hair that had blue tips, and ears of a basilisk approached Sasha Waybright and Marcy Wu.
"And who might you be?" Sasha asked.
"Vee Noceda. I was taken in by Camilia and Luz Noceda. You can call me just Vee," Vee said.
"Are you wanting us to lead you to them?" Marcy asked.
"Yes," Vee said.
"Right this way," Sasha said, as she and Marcy took Vee to her adoptive family.
"Camila, Luz, I'm here," Vee said. "And who is this?"
"Allow me to introduce myself, I'm Manny Noceda, Camila's husband and Luz's father. I passed away from a rare disease when Luz was young. You must be Vee. Camila and Luz told me all about you," Manny said.
"I'm so glad to see you Vee," Luz said.
"Same here," Camila said.
"So how about that? Two more happy reunions," Anne said.
"I love this job so much," Sasha said.
"Us too," Marcy said.
Chapter 17
Notes:
Happy 1-year anniversary to The Hardest Thing! And an early 1-year anniversary to my post-series Amphibia/TOH universe, which I started right after I watched The Hardest Thing VOD on the 15th last year.
Chapter Text
Co-Guardians Anne Boonchuy, Sasha Waybright, and Marcy Wu decided to sit down for a TV show binge.
"How about we revisit The Ghost and Molly McGee?" Anne asked the girls who were in life best friends then wives.
"I'm up for it," Sasha said.
"Count me in," Marcy said.
As the first episode of the show progressed, Anne began to speak. "The afterlife on this show is very different from what we do in our afterlives."
"That I noticed quite well," Sasha said.
"What about it Anne?" Marcy asked.
"What if the afterlife on that show was like our afterlife?" Anne asked.
"You mean going around as ghosts and scaring people?" Sasha asked.
"Yeah," Anne said.
"That does seem like kind of fun," Marcy said.
"As it is, we actually do appear in the realm of the living at times, but it is always with good purpose. We provide guidance to those in need," Anne said.
"And the people we help appreciate our help," Sasha said.
"Still, it would be nice if on occasion we could appear malevolent to someone who truly deserves it," Marcy said.
"It really is something to think about. I mean, various depictions of the afterlife exist throughout fiction. We got the version that made us Gods," Anne said.
The girls found this subject quite fascinating as they continued to binge on TGAMM.
Chapter 18
Summary:
In this chapter Luz checks in on her great-granddaughter who is learning wild magic like her.
Chapter Text
Luz approached Anne, Marcy, and Sasha, the co-Guardians, and asked them a question.
"I was told a descendant of mine was living in the Owl House, right?" Luz asked.
"Correct, your great-granddaughter, Maria Noceda", Anne said.
"I want to see how she's doing, I heard she is learning wild magic like me" Luz said.
"Hm, taking someone to check in on a descendant, that's something we've never done before," Sasha said.
"Because no one has ever asked until now," Marcy said.
"Come on Luz, let's take you to check in on Maria," Anne said.
The three co-Guardians opened a portal to the Boiling Isles, and led Luz to the house she, Eda and King once lived in and now occupied by Luz's great-granddaughter.
Luz knocked on the door, but not before being recognized by the still-living and immortal Hooty. "Luz, what are you doing here, aren't you dead?" Hooty asked.
Luz said, "yeah, but I come from the afterlife to check in on my great-granddaughter Maria."
Hooty said, "how did you get here if you're dead?"
Luz said, "the Guardians of the Multiverse brought me here."
After this conversation, Luz finally knocked on the door, and sure enough, Maria answered.
"Great-granddaughter Maria, it's me, great-grandma Luz, I've come from the celestial dimension brought over by the Guardians of the Multiverse to check on you. How are you doing?" Luz said.
"Luz! I've heard so much about your exploits here. You look just like who I see in the scrapbooks of my family I keep here. It's nice that you are checking in on me in death. I'm learning wild magic just like you did. And I'm one of the best students in my class at Hexside. It's not a coincidence I chose to live here. This house means a lot to the Noceda family. It sat unoccupied for a long time after Eda and King passed. But I, with my parents' blessing, moved here when I decided to attend school at Hexside rather than in the Human Realm. We spent a lot of time restoring the Owl House to its former glory. And it has paid off well," Maria said.
"I'm so proud of you Maria. Amity would be too. My parents as well. I have high hopes that you will be the top of your graduating class both at Hexside and the University of Wild Magic like I was. So, I'm going to regularly check in on you and Hooty. I might even bring my parents and/or my wife along. See you soon Maria," Luz said.
"See you later," Maria said.
Luz and the Calamity Trio returned to the celestial dimension, happy that Maria was excelling in being a witch.
Chapter 19
Notes:
Today marks 2 years since I started writing fics for Amphibia. This is my anniversary present to you.
Chapter Text
Today was the day that marked 100 years since the beginning of Frog-vasion, in which King Andrias led an invasion of Earth through a portal from Amphibia.
Countless people were killed and there was lots of property damage. Three teenage girls named Anne Boonchuy, Sasha Waybright, and Marcy Wu helped in not only stopping Frog-vasion but also defeating the Core back in Amphibia, an act which initially cost Anne her life, but she was revived and allowed to live another 78 years before becoming Guardian of the Multiverse, a job she would ultimately share with Marcy and Sasha.
For 50 years, the official position of the FBI was that it was a "big budget Hollywood film shoot terribly wrong,", thus claiming it was all a big hoax. The FBI declassified everything about Frog-vasion in 2070, officially acknowledging that it in fact did happen on the 50th anniversary of the event.
Anne, Marcy and Sasha were in Los Angeles to give a speech on how Frog-vasion changed their lives and the lives of other Angelinos. Given the three had been dead for over 2 decades, they were crossing over from the Multiverse for the occasion.
Anne, Marcy, and Sasha stood in front of Los Angeles City Hall and began their speech, appearing as their 13-year-old selves since it was at that age they went to Amphibia in the first place.
Anne started her portion of the speech first. "Hello Los Angeles, it feels so good to be back after all these years. 100 years ago today, began a huge event which marked a major turning point in our great city's history. King Andrias and the Core led an invasion of Earth through a portal from Amphibia. They intended to conquer all worlds, but thanks to the valiant efforts of me and my friends Marcy and Sasha, they were stopped in their tracks."
Marcy began her portion of the speech next. "For a good amount of this time, my body served as the host for the Core. I was trapped inside my own mind. My body was at the mercy of the Core and Andrias. After I was freed, Anne combined the powers of all the Calamity Gems and defeated the Core and its new host, the moon of Amphibia. This initially came at the cost of her life. But the Guardian of the Multiverse sent her back to us to live another 78 years. After that, me, Anne, and Sasha left Amphibia, never to return again."
Sasha was the last to give her portion of the speech. "Los Angeles spent years recovering from the ordeal. But the city became stronger for it. Even though for half-a-century, the FBI said it was a movie shoot gone wrong and many of us continued to wonder if it was a hoax. The FBI's public acknowledgement of Frog-vasion in 2070 changed everything. Beliefs that it was all a hoax faded over time afterward. Me and my wives were 64 at the time, and we felt vindicated that the FBI decided after all these years to declassify the Frog-vasion files."
For the next several hours, the Guardians mingled with modern-day residents of LA, satisfied that they know the truth. The girls were sorely missed in LA after their deaths, especially by their own family. They were real pioneers in romance, paving the way for polyamory to be accepted. Their lives continue to be celebrated all across the world to this day.
Chapter Text
It was just another day for Anne Boonchuy, Sasha Waybright, and Marcy Wu as Guardians of the Multiverse.
Anne's frog friends Sprig and Polly Plantar came to the three because they wanted to introduce them to some very special frogs.
"Anne, Marcy, Sasha, I don't think you've met these two, come along so you can meet them," Sprig said.
Anne, Marcy, and Sasha found themselves standing in front of two young adult frogs in farmer clothes.
"Let me introduce you three to Mr. and Mrs. Planter, or as me and Sprig call them, mom and dad," Polly said.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Anne Boonchuy, these are my wives Sasha and Marcy," Anne said.
"Your reputation precedes you Anne," Mr. Plantar said.
"We heard from Sprig and Plantar all about your exploits in Amphibia, and how you temporarily gave your life to save the multiverse," Mrs. Plantar said.
"She couldn't have done it without us," Sasha said.
"The power of friendship came through in the end," Marcy said.
"Sounds like something out of My Little Pony, Marcy," Anne said.
"Wait up! It isn't a Plantar family reunion without me!" Hop Pop said as he hurried up to see his family together again in the afterlife.
"So, Mr. and Mrs. Plantar, how did you take being eaten by a heron?" Anne asked.
"It was devastating, knowing we wouldn't see our children again until they were dead," Mr. Plantar said.
"But the previous Guardian helped us cope with the trauma. We reunited with our ancestors and watched over Sprig and Polly as they matured into full-grown frogs and political careers once Amphibia became a democracy. We are so proud of them," Mrs. Plantar said.
"Me and Polly started a long line of politicians in the Plantar family. But not before we saw a new continent with cousins Bud, Weis, and Er," Sprig said.
"It was what Amphibia needed after over 1000 years of Andrias," Polly said.
The Guardians spent the rest of the day getting to know Sprig and Polly's parents.
Chapter 21
Notes:
Due to a misunderstanding, I accidentally deleted the series this and most of my Amphibia and TOH fics was part of and had to recreate it. You will have to subscribe again to receive new content in it.

Chapter Text
Anne Boonchuy, one of the three co-Guardians of the Multiverse, was playing the 2018 Metallica album "Hardwired to Self-Destruct" when what had become her favorite song from the album in death, "Now That We're Dead", began playing.
"Oooh, my favorite song from the album is playing now," Anne said.
Sasha Waybright and Marcy Wu, in life her best friends and later wives, and in death her fellow Guardians of the Multiverse, entered the room.
"What are you listening to, Anne?" Sasha asked.
"The Metallica song, 'Now That We're Dead'. It is the third track on their 2018 album 'Hardwired to Self-Destruct'. It's about lovers reuniting in the afterlife, like we have done now," Anne said.
"Oooh nice," Marcy said.
Anne then had an idea. "We should record the song and release to the world of the living from beyond the grave."
"Now how would that work?" Sasha asked.
"As dead people, we have supernatural powers," Anne said.
"I didn't think of that," Marcy said.
The girls, as their metal band Calamity, proceeded to record a cover of the Metallica song, with Anne slightly altering one line from the chorus - "now that we're dead my dear" became "now that we're dead my dears", adding an "S" to the end of the last word because she had two wives in life.
They proceeded to use their supernatural powers to upload the song to SoundCloud.
In the world of the living, a big deal was made about Calamity releasing a new song after all its members had died. Many fans were thankful just to have new Calamity content after so long. Those who believed in ghosts cited this event as proof that ghosts do in fact exist. And they do, if something like this was able to happen.
The descendants of Metallica's members were not lost on the irony of a song called "Now That We're Dead" being covered by musicians who were in fact, dead.
Notes:
I took the idea of the Calamity Trio having supernatural powers as dead people from the BBC sitcom Ghosts, which has an American remake on CBS. I recommend watching either version of the show, the US version is especially good.
