Tadashi wouldn’t consider himself the bravest of people. He wasn’t terrified 24/7 like Yachi and hated meeting new people, but he wasn’t a coward. He also, unfortunately, was by no means brave enough to go chat up Osamu, who he’d seen filtering in and out of the party that Tadashi had dragged Kei too. Kei, of course, was plastered to his side, making snide comments about the choice of music and something else that Tadashi was only half paying attention to. Karasuno had defeated Inarizaki for three consecutive years that Tadashi had been there, but their budding rivalry did not lessen Tadashi’s crush on Osamu any less. He’d always thought Osamu was attractive but never seen a reason to do anything about it- their schools had been too far apart and there was no hint that Osamu would ever want to be friends, let alone anything more, with someone like Tadashi. “You’ve been ogling that guy’s chest for three minutes now, Tadashi. Wait- Who is that? He looks vaguely familiar,” Kei commented curiously and Tadashi choked on the beer he was nursing.
“Shut up , Tsukki!” Tadashi hissed like Osamu could hear them, even though he was across the room, talking to… Someone who also looked vaguely familiar and Inarizaki’s former middle blocker, Suna Rintarou. Yeah, Tadashi had an embarrassing habit of remembering anyone he was slightly attracted to very well, even if their interactions had been limited to short, two-word exchanges. Kei let out a soft laugh, interlacing his pinkie with Tadashi’s own. “You have that massive crush on him, right?” He asked with a cheeky smirk, tone playful with a certain edge to it- the kind that meant Tadashi better watch what he said, otherwise Kei would torment him about it forever. “Yes, Tsukki,” Tadashi answered miserably, knowing he’d be teased regardless, and Kei’s smirk grew. “Awh, that’s so cute. You can’t go over there and talk to him, can you?” Kei asked deliberately like he hadn’t known Tadashi since childhood, and Tadashi rolled his eyes, shoving at Kei’s shoulder with his free hand.
“You’re an ass ,” Tadashi retorted with a huff and Kei snickered, clearly enjoying himself. “Yeah, but you love it,” He said nonchalantly and Tadashi scrunched his nose up, arching an eyebrow. “Not so sure about that anymore, jerk,” Kei shook his head, knowing just as well as Tadashi did that he didn’t mean it in the slightest. They’d always loved each other, practically since they met, but it didn’t mean they were only beholden to each other. As of the moment, Kei was in a friends-with-benefits relationship with Kageyama and Tadashi had a queerplatonic relationship with Kenma. Tadashi was asexual, as he’d disclosed to Kei soon after they started dating, to which the blond confessed that he was polyamorous. Kei had been hesitant at first, worrying that Tadashi was going along with it solely to please him, but they worked out their issues fairly quickly. Tadashi had known plenty of people who found it weird, strange, or downright blasphemous, but he didn’t care about their opinions. As long as he and his partners were aware of what they were getting into, there was no trouble.
“I mean, he does have some nice tits,” Kei hummed casually, causing Tadashi to choke on his lukewarm beer for the second time, and he let go of Kei’s pinky to elbow his boyfriend in the side. Kei coughed, clutching at his side with a fake-wounded expression. “It’s not like I’m lying, Tadashi,” He protested and Tadashi rolled his eyes, grabbing Kei’s hand properly this time and interlacing their fingers. “You made me choke again, so you deserved that. I never said Osamu didn’t have a nice chest,” He replied petulantly, lips slipping into a frown, and Kei grinned. The pair looked back at where Miya Osamu had just been standing, only to find that he had disappeared, leaving the somewhat familiar brunette with weird eyebrows alone. Rintarou had disappeared, too, which wasn’t that much of a surprise if Tadashi thought about it for more than two seconds. Those two had an impalpable tension he had felt even across the net on the volleyball court and the way they communicated just by looking at each other- Well, it certainly was reminiscent of Tadashi and Kei’s own relationship.
“Ah, guess you missed your chance,” Kei remarked casually and Tadashi nodded, leaning his weight against Kei’s side. “It’s not like I was gonna hit on him, anyway, I mean, you saw what I saw, right?” Tadashi asked, catching Kei’s golden stare, and Kei grinned with a nod. He was looser with his words and smiles around Tadashi, now, even when they were in public, but Tadashi did not doubt that Kei’s relaxed state also had everything to do with the alcohol he’d promptly consumed as soon as they’d arrived. “It’s too bad, Suna looked rather fit, too,” Kei hummed lowly, soft enough that Tadashi had to lean in further to hear him over the loud music playing from somewhere in the house they were in. “He did, you’re right,” Tadashi agreed, swaying a little in time with the beat. Kei’s hands had slipped to his waist at some point, not letting him stray too far away even as he ‘danced’. Of course, it was all just hopeless speculation on their part.
It was highly unlikely that everyone from their high school volleyball days could be queer, after all, and there had to be a few token straights. Of course, Tadashi had a collection of wedding invitations put up on their fridge to prove statistics wrong, but the fact of the matter was that not everyone could be gay. Osamu and Rintarou were out of Tadashi’s league, anyway, though definitely not Kei’s. Tadashi frowned at the direction his thoughts had taken, leaning forward to place his head against Kei’s chest. He found comfort in the other’s heartbeat, even as fast and quiet as it was now. Kei hummed along with the song, vibrations rattling through his chest and against Tadashi’s cheek. “Hey, y’all need a ride home?” Tadashi’s eyes flew open as Osamu’s accented voice washed over him. He lifted his head from Kei’s chest, turning around to see a smiling Osamu and Rintarou hovering over his shoulder, hands in his pockets. “Oh, you finally got some pockets,” Tadashi blurted out without thinking, tipsier than he realised. Rintarou blinked, arching an eyebrow with a lazy half-smirk. “I did,” He replied, and Tadashi couldn’t help but think there was something he was missing- his smirk made you feel like that, though, like he knew all your secrets and you were missing out on the joke.
“Mm… We might. Are you two leaving right now?” Kei asked coolly, sounding back to his usual less-than-pleasant personality, and Osamu shrugged. His eyes glittered in the dim lights and it made Tadashi want to pull his face near just so he could see each one of those sparkles up close and personal. He wasn’t sure if that was an effect of his inebriation or just the effect of being so close to Osamu, generally. The longer he looked at Osamu, the more he was sure it was the latter instead of the former. “We could be persuaded to stay a while longer… With the right company, of course,” Rintarou spoke up, sending a wink in Tadashi’s general direction that had him stifling a very embarrassing squeak in the back of his throat. High school Tadashi would've been ecstatic at the thought of someone like Suna Rintarou flirting with him and present Tadashi was not much better. “You should!” Tadashi agreed, voice a couple of octaves higher than he intended, and Osamu shot him a pleasant smile. It wasn’t anything big, just an uptick of lips, really, but a warmth spread from Tadashi’s ears to his toes upon seeing it.
“If ya insist,” Osamu agreed in a low rumble and Tadashi grinned, giving Kei's hand a nervous, habitual squeeze. Kei's thumb rubbed soothing circles on the back of Tadashi's hand, reassuring him that everything was fine– Regardless of what could happen. It would do for now without an actual sit-down talk about the possibility of either of them dating Rintarou or Osamu. Kei and Tadashi had known each other for so long that communication was often nonverbal. The rest of the night passed in a blur of dancing, conversation, and drinks. Tadashi could barely keep track of half the conversations he was having at any given time, let alone what he was actually saying. He was pretty sure he heard Kei explaining once or twice that he was a lightweight and Tadashi was also pretty sure he exposed Kei’s love of dinosaurs in return, but nothing was 100%.
Tadashi's head pounded angrily, battering him from the inside out for putting his body through what he had last night. He groaned, barely audible with his face shoved in Kei's chest, his arms tightening around his boyfriend. He didn't remember coming home in the slightest, but he also didn't remember much beyond snapshots of what happened after they talked with Osamu and Rintarou. There had been a lot of dancing…And shots… Tadashi's face burned as he recalled blabbering to Osamu about his crush on him in high school. Gods, it couldn't have been anyone else ? Kei shifted from underneath him, rolling half on his side and pulling Tadashi further into him. “Mm, mornin', sweetheart,” Tadashi froze at the voice that was very much not Kei's, one that had a noticeable accented twang to it. “Um. Good morning,” Tadashi greeted, voice high-pitched and squeaky as he registered two things. One: his face was pressed in Miya Osamu's chest, and two: said chest was very much naked. He slowly lifted his face from his safe haven, meeting the sleepy gaze of Osamu. “Hey,” Osamu hummed nonchalantly, eyes half-lidded, and Tadashi's cheeks stained a bright red.
“Um… Hi?” Tadashi replied hesitantly and Osamu let out a soft, sleepy noise that had Tadashi's heart clenching in his chest. Gods, he was so smitten with this man, even if he couldn't remember what exactly had transpired to land them in his bed the night before. “...Care to explain what happened last night?” Tadashi asked curiously, not in the business of walking out of his one-night stands (especially the ones he didn't remember) without a clear explanation so that any misunderstandings could be avoided. Osamu arched an eyebrow, looking only somewhat more alert. “So, all those shots did a number on ya, huh? Kei was right, ya are a lightweight,” He retorted, tone the perfect balance between unjudging and teasing. It was a balance Kei often struck for and failed to reach, always dipping too much on the side of teasing, but Tadashi adored it regardless. Tadashi blushed again, nodding to Osamu's assessment. Osamu hummed again, that same sort of rumbly noise he seemed to make a lot. “How much do you remember, Tadashi?” Oh. Something about Tadashi's given name in Osamu's accented Japanese sent shivers down his spine in the best way.
Tadashi blinked, trying to corral his thoughts in a more orderly fashion, noticing the look of amusement that had slipped onto Osamu's face. It was a cute expression, even at Tadashi's expense. “Talking to you guys after you offered us a ride home… dancing with someone, shots, and blabbering about Tsukki's love of dinosaurs,” He listed, brows furrowing in concentration, and Osamu smiled languidly. “You danced with Rin, quite a bit. Ya also gave us a lot of information about Kei and about yerself– including that ya were poly. You mentioned- mm, what was the word? Oh, that ya had an embarrassing crush on Rintarou and me in high school before promptly spillin’ a few of yer fantasies. We came back to my place soon after to fulfil some of those,” Osamu said casually, giving Tadashi what he was sure was a very basic play-by-play, but it didn't fail to make Tadashi's cheeks feel even warmer.
He was an adult who had had sex plenty of times, but he was also naturally a bit bashful about the whole thing, and embarrassment never wasted a chance to make itself known on his face. “Right… Ah, um, I'm sure it was a very good night, but– Well, I don't doubt your ability in bed or anything, it's just, I'm asexual.” Tadashi admitted, feeling as hesitant as he had the first time he told Kei about his identity, nerves frayed at the edges, but Osamu didn't seem all that surprised or worried. “'kay. Rin is, too. I can put some clothes on if ya want, but I promise I didn't force myself on ya last night,” He offered, the worry coming into play now as furrows appeared on his forehead. Tadashi shook his head ‘no’ abruptly. “I believe you! And nudity doesn't bother me as long as you don't try anything without asking. I get horny whenever I'm drunk, so I'm not all that surprised I took the chance to fall into bed with you. But, uh, do you know where Kei is? I gotta tell him, y'know, about this,” He explained, attempting to gesture with his hand before realising it was pressed against Osamu's chest.
“In the kitchen with Rin, I'm sure. I don't think he'd leave without tellin’ me, at least, since he thinks yer asleep.” Osamu answered and Tadashi blinked, feeling a little bewildered. Osamu smirked, grey-blue eyes glinting knowingly like he could read Tadashi's mind. Maybe he could just see the confusion written all over Tadashi's face– Kei always said he was easy to read, but Tadashi had always chalked that up to over a decade of friendship. “He spent the night here. You're a heavy sleeper, did ya know? Rin and I have two bedrooms, but we were done before they came home from their fast food run, and we all ended up sleeping together. I'm sure you'll wanna talk to Kei about that, though,” Osamu explained, his last sentence definitely teasing, and Tadashi rolled his eyes playfully, reaching up and shoving at Osamu's shoulder gently. He flushed red to the tips of his ears when he realised there was a very noticeable bite mark on said shoulder. Following the curve of Osamu's shoulder and neck only proves to further Tadashi's embarrassment– Osamu's tawny skin was covered in marks.
Osamu didn't seem to mind, though, and Tadashi was sure he looked worse. “Oh. Well, that's, um, helpful,” Tadashi agreed absentmindedly, tracing a finger against the muscles that bulged from Osamu's arm, even relaxed as he was. Osamu seemed content to indulge Tadashi in his fluttery, explorative touches, not acting like he expected anything more than what Tadashi was giving him at that moment. It was nice. Most of Tadashi's one-night stands that he stayed around and sober enough to remember usually expected more, even if he told them he was asexual. It was a big part of why Tadashi and Kenma didn't involve sex on their relationship at all, aside from the obvious lack of desire for it most of the time. They just got each other without it being inherently romantic, kind of like Tadashi and Kei pre-confession. However, there had always been something simmering under the surface with that relationship, but with Kenma it was simplistic and beautiful that way.
“Tadashi,” Osamu hummed patiently, making Tadashi snap out of his thoughts and realise that he'd been tracing his hands all along Osamu's upper body for the last thirty minutes– without asking, too. Tadashi retracted his hand immediately and offered a sheepish smile. “Sorry, I should've asked if you were okay with that, especially when I told you to ask before doing anything to me,” Tadashi apologized sincerely, feeling a little mortified that he'd gotten so caught up in Osamu's prettiness that he'd forgotten the number one universally important rule– consent. Osamu huffed, air blowing across Tadashi's face warmly. It smelled faintly of mint, meaning Osamu had probably brushed his teeth at some point while Tadashi had been sleeping. “It's okay, sweetheart. I don't mind, I was just gonna ask ya if ya wanted breakfast?” Osamu explained, a questioning lilt to his voice, and Tadashi died a little bit inside. Kei wasn't usually one for pet names beyond 'Dashi' and 'love' (both of which Tadashi adored) so there was just something a little different and enrapturing about Osamu calling him sweetheart.
“Oh, yeah, sure,” Tadashi agreed through a yawn and Osamu smiled slightly in response, a little crooked and lopsided and adorable. The other man moved out of Tadashi's embrace carefully, standing up from the bed while Tadashi took his time sitting upright. He got the chance to admire Osamu's naked form while the latter put on boxers and a pair of sweatpants. Tadashi smirked appreciatively, silently patting drunk Tadashi on the back for managing to get a man like that in bed with him- even if present Tadashi still had no idea how all of that had occurred in the first place. He wriggled out of bed, shivering a little when the cold air hit his bare skin without the protection of warm blankets. Tadashi glanced around, looking for his clothes discarded somewhere on the floor, but was handed a pair of boxers and an oversized, fluffy blue sweater that Tadashi instantly loved, if only for the baby blue colour. He pulled the clothes on quickly after offering a quick thanks to Osamu, who shrugged it off casually.
“Oh, this is really soft,” Tadashi commented thoughtfully in surprise, having expected such a warm material to feel a little too woolly or itchy. Osamu grinned. “Yeah, I know. 's one of my favourites and by extension, one of Rin's favourites,” He replied nonchalantly, offering his hand to Tadashi, who took it with a beam that felt almost too big for his face. Tadashi's favourite act of intimacy was holding hands and he felt touched that Osamu had even thought of it– maybe he just liked holding hands as much as Tadashi. Tadashi interlaced their fingers, giving Osamu's hand an experimental squeeze, only to have the gesture returned firmly. He smiled, following Osamu out of the bedroom and into the hallway. The floor was hardwood and the walls were an off-white, warm shade of cream, various pictures hung up. Tadashi looked at them with interest as he was pulled forward, most of which were selfies in different places of Osamu and Rintarou, along with quite a few of Osamu's twin…Atsumu? It was nice to see snapshots of Osamu's and Rintarou's life together.
They passed by an open-plan living room, turning left where a half-wall marked off the kitchen from the rest of the house. There was no way in hell it was an apartment if it was this big already and Tadashi hadn't even seen all of it. Rintarou and Kei we're talking I'm low tones over the bar, Rintarou on the side where all the appliances and oven were while Kei was sitting perfectly poised, as usual, drinking tea. He wasn't a fan of coffee, Tadashi knew. “Morning, ‘Dashi,” Kei greeted, interrupting his conversation with Rintarou, and Tadashi let go of Osamu's hand so that he could bound over to where Kei was sitting. He wasted no time in placing an obnoxiously sappy kiss on Kei's cheek and then settling into the blond's lap, even though the bar seat was probably only made with a single person in mind. Kei didn't comment on it, nor did he bother complaining about it when Tadashi tried his warm tea. Rintarou looked at him in amusement as Kei's arms wound around his waist, making sure he didn't slip off his lap entirely.
“Hey,” Rintarou murmured, dark green eyes glittering with the knowledge of… something. Tadashi beamed, wiggling his fingers in a little wave. “G'morning,” Tadashi said around a mouthful of tea and Rintarou's lazy smirk softened, just a bit, in a way that had Tadashi's heart jackhammering in his chest. “You don't waste any time in making yourself comfortable, huh?” Rintarou wondered, humour so evident in his tone that Tadashi didn't feel too worried that he was overstepping boundaries in any way. Tadashi shrugged, sipping at what was once Kei's tea. “I slept with your boyfriend in your bed last night, I feel like we're kind of past making ourselves comfortable,” He replied with a sunny smile, relishing the way Rintarou's laid-back mask cracked as he was caught by surprise. Osamu snorted, munching on an onigiri he pulled from somewhere when Tadashi wasn't looking. “Well, damn. I see what you mean, Kei,” Rintarou commented, disbelief still coating his tone, and Tadashi giggled. He turned slightly to see Kei's expression, which was wearing a smug smirk per usual. “You were talking about me?” Tadashi cooed playfully and Kei rolled his eyes.
“You're too cool not to talk about, Tadashi,” He replied simply and Tadashi spluttered, cheeks heating traitorously. Tadashi faced Rintarou once more, who arched an eyebrow in curiosity at the exchange. “He blushes easily,” Osamu offered, likely sensing Rintarou's silent confusion the same way Tadashi always could with Kei. Rintarou hummed thoughtfully, shaking his head. “No, there's something more. Being called cool isn't usually a compliment for couples,” He said reasonably and Tadashi snickered, Kei's softer laughter joining him almost instantly. Rintarou's eyes lit up and he nudged Osamu's side as if saying ‘see? I was right’, which only served to further Tadashi's chuckles. “It's a long story,” Kei explained eventually after Tadashi's giggles had sufficiently died down and Rintarou tilted his head just slightly with a smile. “Tell it to me sometime?” He suggested, keeping Tadashi's gaze firmly, and Tadashi nodded.
“Sometime,” Tadashi echoed in agreement, relishing the promise of those words. The promise that there would be a sometime, that they wouldn't just go their separate ways after this day, that maybe something could begin to get built here. Tadashi liked being polyamorous, but he adored making friends, so either way it went, he would win. “Coffee?” Osamu offered and Tadashi shook his head, holding up his mug of tea. Osamu shot an amused look over his shoulder, presumably at Kei, who must've mouthed something because Osamu was stifling a laugh as he looked in the fridge. “When are we gonna address the elephant in the room?” Kei asked eventually after Osamu had made his coffee and he and Rintarou had exchanged some gentle ribbing that reminded Tadashi of his and Kei's dynamic. Tadashi hummed, shifting on Kei's lap. “What elephant?” Osamu asked, clueless. Rintarou gave him an exasperated if fond, look and Osamu shrugged, still lost on what they were talking about. “Our relationship, dumbass. They want to know what this is gonna be,” He explained lightly and Osamu blinked, glancing at Kei and Tadashi, both of whom nodded to back up Rintarou's words.
“Oh. I figured we'd just let it be and see where it heads,” Osamu admitted sheepishly, lifting a hand to rub at the back of his neck. Tadashi watched his muscles contract with the effort appreciatively, but Rintarou was thankfully stronger than him and remained focused on the subject at hand. “Yeah, not everyone is as easy-going as you, 'Samu.” Rintarou rolled his eyes and Osamu stuck his tongue out at him, jabbing him lightly in the stomach. Tadashi slipped off of Kei's lap and into the barstool next to him, wanting to be on a relatively even stance for a conversation like this. “I wanna disclose before we start discussing anything that I'm in a queerplatonic relationship with Kenma. What that means to me is that he is my best friend with a little extra spice. We kiss and hold hands and go on platonic dates freely, but sex isn't involved and he does have a boyfriend, just like I do,” Tadashi explained methodically, taking comfort in the hand Kei left on his thigh as a way to reassure him. Rintarou and Osamu nodded, both not exactly looking shocked, but not like they were expecting it, either.
“I have a purely physical relationship with Kageyama Tobio, and although we live quite far apart, it's not rare for one of us to spontaneously visit the other to indulge in sex. This has nothing to do with Tadashi being asexual, I just have always had a physical attraction to Tobio, and once I found out he was aromantic, I approached him with the idea.” Kei's voice shook a tiny bit– It had taken him a long time to be comfortable with his sexuality once he figured out he was demisexual and an even longer time to figure out that there were very few he was attracted to, and one happened to be Kageyama. Tadashi covered Kei's hand with his own, squeezing it lightly in comfort, and Kei let out a soft breath. Osamu shared a look with Rintarou, the kind that was unreadable to everyone but them, the kind that Tadashi and Kei used all the time. Belatedly, Tadashi realised that he wanted to learn that language with Osamu and Rintarou, to have their own secret code that no one else knew.
His cheeks warmed and Tadashi took a deep breath, trying to control his thoughts lest they spiralled into further daydreams. There was no sense in getting caught up in the rush if nothing more than friendship was going to occur. “Right… That doesn't bother me, personally. I've never had a polyamorous relationship, but Rin dated Akaashi for a while before Akaashi and Bokkun got together, 'n that was while we were dating, too,” Osamu replied nonchalantly and Tadashi grinned playfully. “I think that qualifies as being in a polyamorous relationship, Osa,” He retorted lightly, making the serious atmosphere fade for a second as Osamu let out a low, sheepish laugh. Rintarou smiled softly at Osamu, eyes full of the kind of love Tadashi was lucky to bask in on the regular, and Tadashi's heart squeezed. Gods, he wasn't sure if he could handle being just friends with these two wonderful men. “As Osamu said, I've had some experience being poly, but I'm only with him and he's only with me, right now.” Rintarou agreed, adding to Osamu's previous sentence. Rintarou breathed in, seemingly gearing up for something.
“I'm just gonna be honest here; that's not what either of us is lookin’ for. We want to date both of you equally and we want you to date us too, whatever that kind of relationship would entail. The way you two are together is the way we want to be together– not purely physical or queerplatonic,” He admitted in one breath and Tadashi blinked, eyes going wide as he instinctively glanced at Kei. The other man seemed just as shocked as Tadashi felt, honey eyes blown wide and a pretty pink dusting his cheeks and ears. (It would've taken up the whole of Tadashi's focus if he wasn't so surprised– Kei's blushes were rare, delicate things that Tadashi loved. ) “Oh,” Tadashi managed to say eventually, coming out in the form of an unmanly squeak that had Kei stifling snickers with his hand. “I- I want that, too,” Tadashi admitted, glancing at Kei, who gave him an impassive look. Then, he arched an eyebrow, and Tadashi smiled. “You're acting like I didn't also have a massive crush on Rintarou in high school,” Kei sighed in reply to Tadashi's smile, which only causes it to grow.
The blond looked back at Osamu and Rintarou, the former of which was shifting his weight from foot to foot and twisting his hands together, looking somewhat nervous for Kei's answer. “I want to date you, too. I think we should make our physical boundaries clear now, though, so we can avoid any unnecessary hurt and anguish.” Kei always had been the more logical one of him and Tadashi– he rarely got swept away in his emotions and for the most part, it was beneficial to them. They balanced each other out, head and heart. “I'm indifferent about sex for the most part, so if I initiate it then it's cool, but it's probably safe to assume I won't be having sex with anyone soon. Other than that, affection is my favourite thing to indulge in, so I like a lot of kissing and holding hands and stuff like that,” Tadashi said bashfully, cheeks warm as the summer sun at the teasing and fond smile that Rintarou gave him.
“I'm okay with it all. If I don't wanna be touched, I'll tell ya that, but I like sex and I like kisses and I like it all,” Osamu went next casually, not at all perturbed when he had so few boundaries to tell. It was nice to have someone like that, who just didn't care but also who Tadashi could trust to tell him when or if he was being too overbearing. Kei wasn't always the best with that– sometimes he trusted Tadashi to know his limits better than he did and sometimes he just didn't want to disappoint, but they were working on their communication. “Sex is a no for me and always will be. The idea of it disgusts me, frankly,” Rintarou continued with a light laugh, making Tadashi snicker under his breath. He could relate to that feeling all too well sometimes. “But affection otherwise I'm pretty neutral about. I don't go crazy over it but it doesn't bother me.” Tadashi gave Kei's hand a gentle squeeze again, encouraging him to list his boundaries truthfully. “I like sex, but other affection can give me a pause… Kisses are fine, but it might take me a while for everything else,” Kei admitted and Tadashi beamed, incredibly proud of his boyfriend.
Tadashi was woken slowly, his eyes blinking open blearily as he squinted at the morning light streaming in from the bedroom window. His head was on someone's pillow, Osamu's breath blowing in and out steadily over him from where his head was resting on the same pillow, inches apart. He rolled onto his back less than gracefully, looking around for the source that had woken him up. Osamu's arm settled heavily onto his stomach, his bare chest pressed against Tadashi's left arm and numbing it entirely. Kei's head was down by the foot of the bed per usual, his face smooth of wrinkles because he was still asleep. Tadashi's eyebrows furrowed and his eyes narrowed in on the person who had woken him up– Rintarou, trying to squirm out of Kei's airtight hold, his head formerly laying against Tadashi's lower stomach. Kei had Rintarou's legs clutched to his chest like a pillow and it was half incredibly amusing and half ridiculously endearing. Rintarou stopped his struggling momentarily, looking up at Tadashi with a pitiful, adorably frustrated expression. Stray strands of hair stuck up all over his head, some falling into his eyes and across his forehead. Tadashi loved him.
“I need to pee,” Tadashi's half-asleep brain vaguely knew that Rintarou's sentence was important, but the much larger part was more occupied with admiring his fiancé's features than helping him. Rintarou sighed, reaching out and flicking the skin of Tadashi's stomach that was on view from where his sweater had ridden up. Tadashi squeaked, looking at Rintarou with an indignant pout. “Baby, I know you're still mostly asleep, but I need you to help me,” Rintarou explained, voice deeper and huskier than usual with the remnants of sleep and a slow dopey smile spread across Tadashi's face at the pet name. “'kay. Whaddya need help with?” He asked quietly, voice still sleepy and a little floaty, like he was on clouds, and Tadashi couldn't help but giggle at the mental image his thoughts prompted. Rintarou's smile went sweet with endearment. “Kei isn't lettin’ me go, baby, and I gotta go to the bathroom,” He repeated his explanation and Tadashi blinked, wrinkling his nose.
“Why don't you just tickle Kei, then?” It was sorry of surprising that they'd never woken up in this predicament before after dating for a good three years and living together for two of those. Tadashi was used to extracting himself from Kei's octopus grip and it was kind of funny that Rintarou was struggling with it. Rintarou arched an eyebrow but bent his head and reached his hands down, presumably tickling Kei's middle. As expected, it had the desired effect almost immediately. Kei's face scrunched up and a little pained laugh escaped his lips, his arms relaxing their stance automatically. Rintarou sighed in relief, pulling his legs up to his chest and ceasing his assault on Kei's midsection. He clambered over the rest of Kei's long body and slid off of the bed, doing a little hurried waddle to get to the bathroom in time that made Tadashi snort-laugh.
Kei woke up shortly after Rintarou left the room, face scrunching up in that cute way it always did whenever he could see. Tadashi yawned, using his long arms to reach over and grab Kei's glasses from the bedside table. He bent down and handed them to Kei, who placed them on his nose carefully. He moved to switch positions more gracefully than Tadashi could ever hope to do, moving so that his head was laying on the pillow next to Tadashi's. “Mornin', darlin',” Osamu greeted before Tadashi could open his mouth, apparently having been awake for who knew how long. Tadashi grinned, watching as Kei's skin flushed a beautiful pink colour and he frowned, avoiding Tadashi's gaze. He was so weak for that pet name from Osamu's lips that it was precious and Tadashi wasn't about to let him forget it. “Good morning…” Kei replied despite his embarrassment, clinging to Tadashi, intertwining their legs easily. Now three years into this relationship and engaged to be married, no less, Kei had gotten a lot more open with affection.
He still went to sleep alone in the guest room sometimes, Rintarou occasionally joining him, usually because Tadashi and Osamu ran hot like furnaces and attached themselves to everyone in their sleep, but for the most part, Kei was content to cuddle and be cuddled. “Mmm,” Tadashi hummed, not having the brain function to speak actual words anymore as sleep clouded him once more. He leaned in for a kiss from Kei only to be met with the palm of his hand– to which Tadashi promptly licked, instinct taking over. Kei spluttered, wiping his hand on Tadashi's shirt with a disgusted look. “Gross, 'Dashi.” He complained and Tadashi smiled at him sleepily, not offering a word in his defence. “I'm not kissing any of you until your teeth and mine are brushed,” Kei said, the same way he said it every morning when one of his overly affectionate boyfriends tried to go in for a morning kiss. Tadashi rolled his eyes, too used to it to bother arguing. He turned his head towards Osamu, puckering his lips wordlessly.
Osamu grinned, eyes just barely cracked open, as he leaned forward and captured Tadashi's lips in a kiss. Their lips moved against each other smoothly and Tadashi sighed happily against Osamu's, content as he pulled away. Osamu made a small, rumbly sort of noise and continued trailing kisses down Tadashi's jawline and neck. Tadashi let him, basking in the late-morning glow and the knowledge that he could wake up this way every morning for the foreseeable future if he so chose. Rintarou came back into the room, his smile crooked as he took in all three of his fiancés smushed together like sardines in a box, despite the fact that their bed was obscenely large. Tadashi didn't even know the name for its size, that was how big it was. “Hello to you all, too,” Rintarou said playfully, climbing into bed and snuggling up on the other side of Kei. Tadashi smiled sleepily, reaching a hand over Kei's frame and offering it, palm-up, to Rintarou, who took it and interlaced their fingers.
They would get up in a few minutes and start their day and the inevitable list of plans they had, but for now, it was enough to lay and relax and enjoy the warmth that every morning brought for them.
end.
