Notes:

Hello dear readers and welcome to my second multi-chapter fic.

Firstly, Trigger Warning for sexual assault. Though nothing happens "on screen" and I do my best to handle the topic with care, however, the impacts of the assault are a big part of the story so if it is a sensitive topic for you I would recommend you skip this fic.

For those who remain after that scarry warning, I promise that I've done my best to handle the sensitive topics in this story appropriately but if I make any mistakes please please let me know so I can fix them, I am only human and I want everyone able to enjoy the fic if they want to.

As always constructive criticism is appreciated and I will do what I can to finish this fic but I make no promises. So without further ado enjoy!

Chapter 1: Take It Morpheus Wasn't Kind?

Chapter Text

The first thing Chloe noticed as she came back to consciousness was pain. She hears the familiar unpleasant sound of a heart monitor and feels the uncomfortable plastic bedding of a hospital. Her eyes are impossibly heavy, scratch that her whole body feels impossibly heavy.

“Detective?” a familiar British voice says.

“Lucifer,” she mumbles faintly as she manages to open her eyes after a few attempts.

“Hello love,” he says with a breath of relief, this is one of the few times Lucifer actually looks dishevelled, his hair is a mess and his suit is covered in wrinkles, tears and something that looks an awful lot like dried blood.

Chloe smiles at him and takes his hand as she adjusts to the hospital room around her, after getting over the whole fiasco with Pierce or well Cain and learning the devilish nature of her partner they had grown closer, now a few months later she is dating the devil.

“I know it's probably redundant but how are you feeling?” he asks looking at her with concern.

“Like I was hit by a truck,” she says with a weak laugh.

“Yes well that would have been preferable I'm sure, how much do you remember?” he asks with a sad smile.

Chloe thinks back but finds her memory blotchy, “we ummm… we were working on the Alice Deane case, we got cranky and argued over what to eat for dinner so we split up to search the warehouses on our list. Then I was hit over the head with something I think… my memory is missing from there,” she says.

How could she have been so stupid, there was a reason she was supposed to have a partner and they had split up for the evening over her taste in Lebanese food, how fucking stupid. She idly rubs the scar on her hand that she got on the job after obliviously running into a wooden crate. As stupid as the incident was the scar was a reminder to always be cautious and not rush into things without thinking them through first unlike what she had just done that had landed her in the hospital. However she was confused when she glanced at her hand because she found no scar, the skin was perfect and smooth as if nothing had ever happened.

“I… what happened Lucifer?” she asks inspecting her hand more closely, sure enough not a mark to be seen.

Lucifer shifts uncomfortably in his chair, “perhaps we should discuss this in the morning when it's not 3 AM, Daniel and Beatrice are coming by to check on you at 9:30 so you have plenty of time to rest until then.”

Chloe nods and flops back into her pillow to try and sleep, as much as she wants answers she is exhausted. Unfortunately, sweet dreams do not come, what does is glimpses of memories, bits and pieces of what happened. First, its hands, beating her, tearing her clothes and touching her body, then rope, restraining and binding her like cattle and finally blood, so much blood before a flash of brilliant gold light.

She wakes in a panic feeling hands on her shoulders and swings at the figure connecting hard against their jaw. Lucifer tumbles holding up his hands in surrender “Your safe Chloe, you're in the hospital, it's just me.”

“Lucifer,” she breaths and she curls up into a ball and attempts to calm herself.

Lucifer rubs his jaw as he sits down beside her, “I take it Morpheus wasn't kind?”

Chloe lets out a nervous laugh, she still hasn't fully recovered from Lucifer’s lesson on the endless, “no it was… memories I think or at least pieces of what happened.” Chloe glances at the clock 4:44, not even two hours of sleep.

Lucifer moves to rub her back as he had done countless times to comfort her before however, she flinches away from his touch. Lucifer shifts away to give her more space, “apologies Chloe.”

“What happened Lucifer,” she sobs unable to hold back the tears any longer.

Lucifer wants nothing more than to curl her up in his arms and hold her but he has a suspicion physical touch would not be comforting to her. “I doubt what I know would be particularly comforting—” he begins.

“Just tell me,” she cuts him off and tries to pull herself together, “I know it's going to be unpleasant.”

Lucifer instinctively moves to wrap his arm around her but stops himself, “I… after our debate over Lebanese restaurant choices I went to investigate the warehouses on the lists from N to Z. For what it's worth I think you were right about the Lebanese Cafe place, I apologize for my earlier stupidity if we hadn't split up this wouldn't…”

“Lucifer, I was the one who said we should split up because we were cranky and I was tired of hearing all about Carouselle Restaurant or whatever it's called. If it's anyone's fault it's mine ok? It's my job to follow protocol and be the cop and there is a reason for those rules. If I hadn't gone to the warehouse alone then I…” she cant finish her sentence as another sob overtakes her.

“Chloe, look at me. It is not your fault and I won't allow you to blame yourself, guilt drags souls to hell Chloe and no matter what you do not deserve what happened to you and you absolutely don't get to drag yourself to hell over it.”

Chloe nods accepting his words and doing her best to believe them, she scoots over to cuddle into him however she finds little comfort in his embrace, she just can't get the hands out of her mind.

Lucifer definitely notices the way she no longer relaxes into him and is still tense, “are you sure you want me to continue Chloe?”

“yea…I… I'm remembering but I'm missing a lot and considering all the blood I remember and my lack of scar on my hand I assume you had something to do with me being alive.”

“Always the detective,” Lucifer jokes in an attempt to lighten the mood. “Right well… After I finished investigating the warehouses I tried to call you,” he says with a sigh. “You didn't respond which worried me but there were a multitude of reasons why you wouldn't, I flew back to the penthouse and then to your home to see if maybe you had finished and gone to bed. When you were not at either I called Daniel and when no one at the station had heard from you I began to truly panic. I had a copy of your lists so I began checking each location, I only wish I had moved faster. If I had been a few minutes slower you would have… but if I hadn't taken so much time I could have stopped…”

“Lucifer I don't want you to blame yourself either, I don't want you to end up stuck in another hell loop, not after last time.”

Lucifer sighs and nods, he is fully aware of how difficult guilt can be to deal with but she is right. What's important is that Chloe is alive and there are far too many variables to start playing a game of what ifs. Lucifer tries to keep his voice steady as he continues but fails, finding her naked with her arms and legs bound together, beaten unconscious, covered in cuts, blood and other bodily fluids will never leave his mind.

Lucifer lets the tears come, he has learned that emotions can be a weakness but are also fuel for insurmountable strength. As bothersome as they can be they serve a purpose and without them he would not be able to love his detective so much. “After what felt like an eternity I found the warehouse you were in, I may not be bulletproof around you consistently but I'm still an archangel. I dispatched the four men who were playing cards while you were… When I found you I thought I was too late, you had lost so much blood and were so injured I…” Lucifer takes a moment to breathe before continuing “I knew even flying you to a hospital would not save you so I tried to use my feathers, I knew they could heal celestials and simply hoped that you being a miracle would allow well a miracle. I took handfuls of feathers but it was enough to heal you.”

“A flash of golden light?” she asks.

“I… yes, your physical wounds healed and so did all your scars and marks. I'm sorry, I had no idea if it would even work in the first place or even what other effects it could have but I just wanted you to live.”

Chloe takes a second to examine her scarless skin, she runs her fingers over her shoulder where her scar from their first case should be. Her lack of the stretchmarks she gained from carrying Trixie was heartbreaking, it was a reminder of Trixie and their bond and now it was just… gone. She lets the tears fall, not only were horrible things done to her but her body was now changed, all the stories her body told were gone.

“I'm sorry,” Lucifer says looking small.

“Don't be,” she cries, “Lucifer you saved my life, me being upset over my scars being gone is stupid.”

Lucifer reaches for her and again stops himself, as much as he wants to hold her she needs to initiate touch right now. “It's not stupid detective, I know how much they meant to you, you told me they each carried a story and then we had a very in-depth conversation about an evil chihuahua named Kraken.”

Chloe smiles for the first time since waking up, at least she was able to tell Lucifer about all her scars and marks before they vanished. She hadn't told Dan, he had thought that it was stupid how much she valued her scars but Lucifer was far more understanding.

“Hold on why am I still in the hospital if my injuries are healed?” she asks now that she knows that her body is good as new at least physically, besides being exhausted.

“After I healed you, you still didn't wake up and as I wasn't sure how much my feathers has mended I thought it best to take you here just in case. The doctors say you are uninjured but considering you are missing memories I suppose angelic healing can't fix all the effects of a concussion.”

Chloe nods, “besides feeling exhausted I feel relatively fine. Odds are all my memories will be back by next week my brain just needs some time to reboot everything.”

“Detective you seem awfully calm about being unable to remember everything that happened.”

“Look it's not my first concussion and from what I do remember I'm not in any rush to remember everything.”

Chloe hates being the victim, hates being fragile, and hates being looked at with pity, and because of that, she has spent years perfecting a tough exterior. She is a homicide detective, her job is to catch murderers so she has to be strong. Lucifer however is not looking at her with pity, he is looking at her with empathy, how could humanity be so wrong about the devil.

“I understand Chloe, I often wish I could simply forget about my fall but alas unpleasant memories tend to stick with you. I will do all I can to help you, you have my word. However, I think it's time for good little detectives to go to sleep hmm?”

Chloe chuckles at that, Lucifer has always been good at making her feel better and even if he can't touch him without freaking out at least he is still there. She is a cop, she can get through this. She will put her acting skills to use and pretend everything is fine, that's what she has always done.

“Good night Lucy,” she mumbles into her pillow, “I love you.”

“Good night detective, I love you too,” Lucifer says from his chair as he watches over her, like her own personal guardian devil.

Chapter Text

Chloe woke again at 7, she hadn't slept better than before, if she even came face to face with Dream she would punch him on behalf of the human population. Unfortunately, she was right, her memory of what happened has become a bit clearer, she can remember their voices and it makes her feel sick. Considering how well she slept she is still feeling a lot more energetic than she probably should be. To her surprise, Lucifer wasn't there when she awoke, she was a bit disappointed but she understood, Lucifer still had a club to run and it gave her some time to collect herself before Trixie and Dan arrived.

Fuck what was she going to tell them, it's not as though she is at all physically injured thanks to Lucifer. She is going to be expected to be her same old self and return to work because no one but her and Lucifer is aware of how bad the situation was. Maybe she should talk to Linda, she was the other celestial insider but she was reluctant to get therapy from a friend, especially about something like this. She didn't need the people in her life treating her like she was weak so it was probably best to just not bring it up. She had been a cop long enough to have seen cases similar to what happened to her through the victims were dead so that was the main difference. Perhaps if she was in a different department she would know what she needed to do, from what she guessed it was gonna be a lot of therapy.

Chloe was deep in thought when Lucifer arrived, bursting into the door as always but also scaring the shit out of her. “Ah detective, good morning,” he said as he stuffed a bagel in his mouth.

“Good morning Lucy,” she said as she rubbed her eyes “where did you go?”

“Well I thought you would want breakfast,” he says holding up a paper bag, “then got sidetracked by a bookstore because I thought they might have some book on helping people deal with traumatic events however I got there far too early and even when I broke in they had nothing useful. Almost gave the owner a heart attack, turns out she wants to be a writer, how original for a book store owner. I mean really you have no idea how many people who work in bookstores want to be righters it's quite frankly…” He trails off as she begins to cry, “what's wrong Chloe, I promise the owner wasn't too upset about my unexpected visit.”

Chloe laughs as she cries, Lucifer has gotten better about emotions but he can still be incredibly clueless. “No… it's just… it's just really sweet, it's really nice to have someone genuinely care about me. I’m always Chloe Decker the homicide detective who isn't affected by anything, it's nice to not have to pretend with you.”

Lucifer moved to embrace her, slow enough that she could refuse if she wished but she didn't. Unfortunately, he didn't think his touch was comforting as it had been in the past, she was still tense and considering how often she flinched when he moved near her or moved to touch her he was at a loss. He had spent eons as a punisher and barely knew the first thing about healing. Touch seemed to bring her discomfort and yet he had no idea how to fix it. His area of trauma was causing it and he hated that he made Chloe uncomfortable though he understood why.

The next few hours passed uneventfully, a nurse came by to check on her and they ate their breakfast bagels and made small talk. Though bagels were not really an LA thing they were a favourite of Chloe’s, she used to get them with her dad when she was young and had a bottomless stomach for them, a skill she retained as an adult.

Chloe checked emails and let people know she was ok, the whole routine was calming even if she was still in the hospital. She was being discharged today because there was no real reason for her to be there so everything felt a little more normal. That is until she looked at herself in the hospital room's bathroom and almost dropped her phone in the toilet.

She looked rundown and a mess as expected but she also looked maybe 5 or 10 years younger. Gone were her wrinkles and occasional gray hair and though she had looked great for her age she now looked almost unbelievable. Noone her age looked this good without the help of cosmetic surgeries, worse it wasn't just her face, it was her whole body that had been rejuvenated. Who knew that angelic healing was the best de-aging cream there was.

She managed not to have a breakdown like she did about her scars. That stupid movie had made her reconsider her wardrobe, people wanted Hot Tub Highschool lead and not Chloe Decker. She changed her wardrobe and as she got older it wasn't as much of an issue. She wasn't a prude but her time as an actress really made her reconsider her appearance. She wanted to be noticed for who she was and not her looks, now it could be a problem again.

“Uh, Lucifer?” she called from the bathroom.

“Yes, darling?” he replied glancing towards the bathroom door as she emerged.

“You didn't think to mention this,” she waves at herself, “before?” she walks over to dim the lights and fiddles with her hair in an attempt to disguise her appearance for when Dan shows up. The last thing she needs is him commenting on her look.

“Well, you were already dealing with a lot… it's not that bad is it?”

“Lucy I looked like I'm in my late 20s, nobody is going to take me seriously again,” she says as she plops back on the bed.

Lucifer looks sad, “I'm sorry I didn't—”

“I'm not mad at you, you saved my life. Sure this isn't ideal but it's way better than being dead. Though I'm surprised you didn't make a comment about how much better my boobs look,” she teases.

Unfortunately, her joke falls flat, “you are wearing that hideous hospital gown, and well… I didn't think you would appreciate those sorts of comments, not after you were assaulted and almost died.”

Chloe reaches out to take his hand, fuck now she is thinking about hands again, Lucifer has big hands that are like— lots of people have big hands she chastises herself. She cants even hold her boyfriend's hand without being reminded of what happened. “I really just want to get back to normal Lucifer, move on from this whole thing.”

“I understand, I just don't wish to push you. I've caused enough trauma in others to recognize it.”

“Really Lucifer I'm fine,” she lies, this is exactly the type of behaviour she doesn't want from people.

“Don't like to me, Chloe, I've noticed the way you react when I move near you, you flinch away.”

Chloe just shakes her head. Why cant she just be normal, she doesn't want to feel broken. Her body is already now weird enough, she really doesn't need her brain being stupid. Why can’t she just hug her boyfriend? What happened had nothing to do with him, he saved her and yet her body just reacts to him without her wanting it to.

Before they can continue they are interrupted by a familiar squeal “Mommy!” Trixie burst into the room followed by Dan and before Lucifer can stop her Trixie jumps into Chloe’s arms but she is happy to hug her daughter. Lucifer stomps down the twinge of jealousy at seeing Chloe respond positively to her daughter's touch, it's not about him, Chloe is the one who has to deal with what happened to her.

“Hey Chlo,” Dan says with a smile as he moves for a hug. Chloe freezes up, another memory coming to mind, “cmon gimmie a hug,” the voice sneers. Lucifer luckily notices her reaction, “Hello Daniel, lovely to see you,” he says shaking the man's hand and distracting him. Dan had blamed Lucifer for Charlotte's death and still did sometimes but he was coming to terms with it.

“Uh yeah, hi Lucifer,” Dan says with a look of confusion, Luckily Dan always finds Lucifer weird so she doubts he will realize anything. Ugh, why is she even trying to hide this, because of her stupid ego? She knows just bottling these things up isn't good but she can't let herself be weak, at least not around anyone but Lucifer and especially not around the precinct.

“Well Chlo, I'm glad you're ok. At least they just knocked you out, it could have been a lot worse.” Chloe has learned over the years that Dan has a special skill, he is truly able to say the absolute worst thing unintentionally almost always. It's truly incredible how bad he is at being comforting completely unintentionally.

Lucifer makes gives her an apologetic look from behind Dan, of course, Lucifer doesn't lie and she is physically fine besides having been unconscious. Dan as always is blissfully unaware as he continues. “Don't worry Chlo, we are gonna find these guys. Let me know once you feel better and we can take your statement and really go over what you remember, anything you know will be useful.”

The only thing that keeps Chloe sane at this moment is Lucifer's comical reaction of putting his head in his hands and rubbing his temple. “Alright, I'm sure we will, they can't have gotten far,” she says pulling on her acting skills.

Lucifer makes eye contact with Chloe over Dan's shoulders and gives her a smirk and a wink. Knowing Lucifer that could mean a million different things but she is gonna hope it means that they didn't actually get away.

“And seriously Lucifer, thank you,” Dan says to Lucifer who suddenly looks puzzled. “Head injuries can be tricky and we were lucky it wasn't worse but I'm glad she has you as her work partner, honestly you are starting to grow on me maybe a little.”

Lucifer gave him a very polite nod doing his best to hide his smirk. They hadn't really kept their relationship a secret, pretty much everyone knew or suspected except Dan. To her surprise, Lucifer had begged her not to tell him, it surprised her that Lucifer didn't want a chance to rub it in but now two months later it was a little more obvious that he simply wanted to see how long Dan’s denial would continue and she had to admit it was kinda funny.

“Well I'm glad you are ok Chlo but I really gotta get going, have fun with mommy Trix,” Dan said as he tossed Trixie’s bag on the bed and made his leave. Lucifer looks slightly embarrassed, “I knew today was usually the day the urchin was supposed to go to your house so I made some arrangements.”

Trixie grins at Lucifer and tackles him in a hug as well, “admit it you wanted to spend time with me.”

Lucifer gives Chloe a pleading look, “Urchin please remove your sticky fingers from— why are your hands orange— detective help.”

Chloe was doing her best to not laugh at Lucifer and was failing miserably. “Admit it or I'm gonna make you more orange,” Trixie cheerfully threatens, she was clearly learning a lot from Maze.

“Right yes urchin, I… I uh wanted to spend time with you, happy?”

“Yup!” Trixie chirped as she released him and Lucifer did his best to remove whatever the sticky urchin left behind from himself.

“Right detective, your turn to suffer the safe orange fate again, though honestly I think it's an improvement on the hospital gown. I'm going to go get the papers so we can go home.

Every time Lucifer called her apartment home sent a warm feeling through her body. They hadn't officially moved in together yet but perhaps once this whole ordeal had passed they could figure it out. She was honestly surprised at how happy Lucifer was to simply stay at her place considering how big and fancy his penthouse was, more than once she had had a chance to fully explore it and it was big enough for probably three families. Part of her kinda hopes they could move into the penthouse with a few minor adjustments but that was something to tackle another time. Now it was time to go spend time with her family because that's what Lucifer was now and try to make things go back to normal.

“So what did that wink mean?” Chloe asks after they return home. She has been dying to know but wanted to make sure Trixie was out of earshot first.

“Ah yes, well I meant to tell you, they didn't get far at all. I believe Maze is toying with the rapists now, I will pay them a personal visit once I decide what to do with them.”

Chloe froze at the term rapist, obviously, that's what had happed to her but it didn't fully sink in until Lucifer said the word. Her case was special though, she wasn't even sure if there was a term. A rapist was usually someone you trusted who didn't take no for an answer rather than four men who tied you up and beat and bled you to death. Chloe’s knees felt weak, she had done her best to avoid thinking about what happened too much.

“Detective?” Lucifer asked snapping her out of it, “your home now, it's alright.”

Chloe pushed her thoughts away, “what are you thinking of doing to them?”

“Well, usually the I’m the devil and you are going to hell bit works quite well,” he says before a wicked grin spreads across his face. “You know one large flaw with humans is how reliant on spinal cords you are, Maze and I perfected a technique to leave them quadriplegic but the fun part is if you do it right then their nervous system is intact, so they can feel everything but can do a thing about it. I think that making them helpless at the hands of their torturer is a bit poetic.”

“Good, I approve,” Chloe says coldly. Should Lucifer’s gleeful nature in describing torture freak her out? Probably but honestly she doesn't care, both she and Lucifer have changed a lot since Pierce. Lucifer has become more domestic and adept with emotions and Chloe has become more of a rebel. Lucifer’s job is literally to punish humans who deserve it and as God is her witness these four humans deserve everything they get. Obviously, it's not legal but she is pretty sure Lucifer ranks above human law enforcement. Sure vengeance won't heal her but dam if it won't be satisfying plus the way she sees it making them experience the horrors of what they did to her seems just.

Chapter 3: Men Allergy

Notes:

Alright, the last chapter for today, stay tuned I got some editing to do but more will be coming soon.

Chapter Text

It was evening now and Lucifer had just finished putting Trixie to bed while she had a thorough shower and she did her best to feel clean again. By now Lucifer tucked Trixie in multiple times a week, obviously, he refused to admit it but it was clear how much he enjoyed telling Trixie stories about his life. At this point, though they weren't married Lucifer was pretty much Trixie’s stepdad even if he refused to hold the title. Trixie had called him dad once and he had had a minor breakdown, so Lucifer the parental figure who is dating my mom he remained to Trixie. Trixie had immediately noticed Chloe’s change in appearance once out of the hospital, she had taken after her mom in noticing small details. They told her the truth of what happened simply leaving out how bad she had been injured before Lucifer had healed her, Trixie had known Lucifer was the devil the longest and hadn't batted an eye at his “official reveal”.

Chloe had really tried to snuggle up with Lucifer but she just couldn't relax. She didn't know what about Lucifer put her on edge but she hated it so much. Not only was it not fair to Lucifer who had always been kind, supportive and never laid a finger on her but she also wanted to be able to cuddle with him. Lucifer was finally getting used to non-sexual touch and now she was worse than he ever was. Ella had stopped by to drop off some wine and she had no issues hugging her so she was at a loss as to what she should do.

“I hate this Lucy,” she said now on her second glass of wine, “my brain freaks out when you move near me or touch me, I hate it so much.”

“I understand Chloe, yes I don't like it but it's not about me. I've gone the vast majority of my life without touching others, I will be fine.”

“No, I know but I also want to touch you. I want to be able to hug you, cuddle with you or even have sex but I can't even do the most basic of touches without beginning to panic, I hate it so much.

“What about me upsets you?” Lucifer asks putting his book down and focusing on her across from him.

“You don't upset me Lucifer, you just apparently remind…” She doesn't finish that sentence, fully aware that she almost told her boyfriend that he reminded her of her rapists. She knew part of it was big hands, it was one of the first things she remembered but it was more than that.

Lucifer didn't seem upset in the least by her words, “is it my form,” he asked with his head cocked to the side. “You had no issues with your spawn or Miss Lopez only myself and Daniel.”

“I… maybe” she huffs rubbing her face with her hands. “Dan freaked me out more than you do so I don't think it's a size thing, so maybe you're right. Ugh is my brain seriously allergic to men!”

Lucifer chuckles at that, “I suppose it works in your favour that you are bisexual then.”

Chloe feels genuinely bad and is somewhat confused at Lucifer’s reaction. Not about being bisexual but even if she can be attracted to anyone no matter the gender she wants Lucifer. “Lucifer I don't want anyone else, I'm happy with you and I don't want to break up even if my brain is being stupid.”

“Oh no, you misunderstand Chloe, actually… I believe I should give the good doctor a visit,” he says as he hops up from the couch and heads for the door.

“it's almost 10 o'clock!” she calls after him.

“I can fly love” he calls back before vanishing with a beat of his wings.

Chloe just sighs and sits back on the couch, maybe Lucifer isn't going to talk to Linda about how they can break up so he can try and find her a girlfriend. Maybe it's nothing to be worried about, maybe it's just usual Lucifer weirdness, I mean how much could go wrong from an impromptu therapy session right? Oh fuck so much could go wrong, Lucifer did have a history of doing the opposite of what Linda suggested which did make her question her skills as a therapist but she had also met Lucifer so maybe it was specifically a devil thing.

True she had always been curious as to what dating a woman would be like but for someone who had the capacity to be attracted to any gender she had only dated men. She had gone on a few dates with women, had a few hookups and there was that non-binary person who was quite lovely but nothing long-term with anyone but men. Sure it would be exciting but it wasn't Lucifer, she was head over heels in love and no one else could replace him. Plus either way, she would have to come to terms with what happened, she couldn't just panic whenever the father of her child tried to greet her for the rest of her life.

A crash in the kitchen woke Chloe up, however, upon noticing the otherworldly glow from the and the faint British cursing it was clearly just Lucifer returning from his… 1 AM therapy appointment. Whatever he was paying Linda, it wasn't enough.

“Lucifer what have you destroyed in my kitchen?” she asked as she went to check on him.

“Oh Detective, I didn't mean to wake you. I must say your house is very small,” Lucifer said picking up pieces of a broken mug.

“Of course, it's too small for a wingspan of almost 20ft.” Chloe then noticed his brilliant wings were slightly less magnificent than usual. Pale skin could be seen in patches along with blood, obviously where he had torn out handfuls of feathers when trying to heal her. “Fuck Lucy that's a lot of missing feathers.”

“I'll be fine, they will grow back. It was absolutely worth it to save your life.

Chloe smiles at him and fills a bowl with soapy water to clean his wings, this was nothing compared to when she helped pull dozens of bullets from his wings when he shielded her from Cain but there was no way it was pleasant. It often worried her how much of a pain tolerance Lucifer actually had, he was often whiny and complained about things but he could probably act as though nothing was wrong with both his legs missing if he wanted to. He had ordered Maze to cut off his own wings, she couldn't imagine how unpleasant having two limbs chopped off with a small dagger could be and she had given birth.

After a few minutes she had removed all the blood from his wings, she always teased him about preening and behaving like a bird and he always teased her about her wing kink. Both of them were right of course about the other but neither of them was going to admit it. Still, there was something adorable about the way Lucifer puffed up his wings when annoyed or shivered when she pet him, it was something unique that only they shared. On the bright side, she had no issues touching Lucifer, it was just being touched back that was the problem.

“Cmon Lucifer, let's go to bed, I'm tired,” she said with a perfectly timed yawn.

“Are you sure love, I could sleep on the couch if that would make you more comfortable?”

“Well unless I meet the female version of you I'm gonna have to get over this…”

“Men allergy” Lucifer offers with a grin.

“I so regret calling it that, and since there is only one devil and that's you then I have to get past this. Plus as much as it makes me panic I do really do want to cuddle, you are like my personal space heater. ”

“Truth comes out, she only likes me for internal temperature,” Lucifer says happily trailing after her.

She twirls around holding her mouth a few inches from his, “oh I like you for more than that Mr. Morningstar,” she teases as she pushes him on the bed. She moves to kiss him but she can't, memories start to overwhelm her and she just can't no matter how much she wants to. She tries to calm herself but the memories keep coming like a burst dam.

“detective, don't push yourself…” he begins but seems to notice her panic. “Chloe, Chloe! Your safe, you're in your bedroom, they are just memories.” He automatically places a hand on her arm to try and be comforting but by the speed at which she recoils, it's obvious that backfired.

“For dad's sake,” he mutters to himself, he really isn't good at this healer thing. “Chloe just breath, alright in and out.”

After a few minutes of leading her through breathing exercises, which he learned from the internet he manages to calm her down. “Thanks, Lucy, I'm… I'm sorry.”

“Stop doing that,” he says rolling his eyes.

“What?”

“Apologising! You are the one who was hurt and are suffering the consequences not me, and I keep making things worse by failing to comfort you. I am sorry, I am bad at this, I was never trained to heal simply to punish.”

“No Lucy,” she says shaking her head, “you have been super supportive, you took care of feeding and caring for me in the hospital, you organized things so I could spend time with our child and for fuck sake you saved my life for the like 6th time. I would have been dead three years ago if it weren't for you, you are more than a punisher Lucy.”

Lucifer only heard a part of that, still stuck on the fact that Chloe just called Beatrice their child. His heart is doing weird things he doesn't really recognize but he is certain that whatever it is it's a good thing. “Our?” he repeats faintly his eyes wide.

“I mean it was a slip of the tongue but yea pretty much Lucy, we are family. You've been in her life three years and she completely trusts you, she believed you were who you said you were from the moment she met you and she still loves you. Her reaction to your wings was simply screaming cool and then asking to get ice cream. She trusts you implicitly and I know you would do anything for her.”

“I would,” he says still deep in thought.

“Look don't freak out ok? I know its early and you have trouble with kids so—”

“No, I… I like it, it feels right,” he says cutting her off. “I never wanted children of my own not that it's possible but I'm glad she is in my life, perhaps parenthood isn't as horrible as I thought it was.”

“Gee thanks, glad you think so cus I was going to make you her godfather for April fools and—”

“You what!” Lucifer says in total offence and Chloe begins laughing. “That's not funny detective, my father was a horrible parent.”

Chloe immediately stops chucking and wants to smack herself. It was funny from the perspective of God and the devil hating each other not abusive parent who cast his son into literal hell for eons. “I know sorry, that's why I didn't go through with it. It was funny in concept but I know what an ass he is, your way better than him.”

“You don't know that detective,” Lucifer says brushing her words off.

“If Trixie asked to be able to make her own choices would you throw her off a mountain into a lava lake?”

“That's not at all what happened and you know that,” he said trying to hide his amusement.

“Well it's kinda like the human equivalent, so would you?”

“Of course not, there is nothing Beatrice could do that would warrant that.”

“See, already better than your father.”

“I don't see how I can argue with that,” Lucifer says in defeat.

“Nope,” she says popping the p, “now go to sleep, honestly I have no idea how I'm still functioning.”

Chloe had been tempted to try and cuddle with Lucifer but after her freakout when trying to kiss him she just didn't have the willpower at the moment. She just needed rest, she was more comfortable around him but touch was still a no and she occasionally jumped when he moved but considering it had been barely a day it was something. She took Friday off so she had three days to get her shit together before she had to go back to work, how hard could it be?

Chapter Text

Chloe slept better than she thought she would but that didn't mean a whole lot, her sleep was still plagued by nightmares but nothing horrible enough to wake her. Surprisingly however she woke feeling nice and rejuvenated, odd considering that normally she would be grumpy and tired after a night of restless sleep.

She woke snuggled against a familiar space heater and just decided to enjoy the moment, not bothering to even open her eyes. She wasn't freaking out, she had snuggled with Lucifer and she was feeling great. She doubted that her “men allergy” issue was solved but at least she could be comfortable around Lucifer again. It had only been a day but it had been torturous not being able to be held.

Ella’s hug was nice but it wasn't Lucifer, she could be vulnerable around literal satan in a way she never could around anyone else, how ridiculous was that. Her personal space heater began to wake and she nuzzled into Lucifer, it was… squishy?

Chloe blinked her eyes open then realized what she was looking at. She was making eye contact with the nipple of a breast. Chloe bolted up to get a look at her partner, either Lucifer could change his form and had neglected to mention it or she was sleeping with his twin sister.

“Lucifer?”

“F’ve more minutes, detective,” a different yet oddly familiar British voice said.

“Lucy?” she said with a little more force.

“Is everything alright love?” Lucifer said opening their eyes.

Chloe didn't respond simply taking in the figure in front of her. Same wavy black hair though now much longer, same piercing brown eyes and nose. The figure in front of her looks eerily familiar and yet different, they were smaller, lacked facial hair, were curvier and most noticeably had a pair of breasts.

Maybe Lucifer followed her gaze to look at themself. “Ooh, I didn't think it would work so fast,” they muttered inspecting their body. “Oh I missed these,” they said playing with their breasts.

This person behaved exactly like Lucifer, but how the hell was this possible. Maybe it was a prank or a trick of some kind? “Tell me something only Lucifer and I would know?”

The figure snorted a laugh, “I can do you one better love, still the devil,” they said as their eyes glowed with hellfire. Chloe was used to looking into those blazing eyes, it was definitely on the list of kinks I didn't know I could have before sleeping with the devil but it was still weird seeing it on a different face.

Lucifer clearly sensed she wasn't convinced and seemed a little offended “there are one of a kind detective,” they huffed motioning at their eyes. “Ugh fine, I suppose this should do it,” they say as large white wings emerged from their back knocking over the bedside lamp onto the floor. Familiar patchy spots could be seen on the wings, whatever had happened this was still her Lucifer. “Bloody hell,” they cursed as their wings vanished and they picked up the lamp, Chloe never understood how a being as graceful as Lucifer consistently knocked things over with their wings.

“I… how” she finally asks trying to wrap her head around the situation.

Lucifer shrugs “my form changes every few centuries on earth and apparently now is the time,” they say inspecting themself in the mirror.

“You can't control it?” she asks.

“Well somewhat, I think it probably linked to my self-actualization. That's what doctor Linda was helping me with. I wanted you to be comfortable and well tadaa, seems to have worked considering how you woke me up.”

“So you are stuck like that now because you wanted to make me comfortable?” she asks, if she had known Lucifer was going to do this she wouldn't have mentioned her “men allergy,” they shouldn't have to put up with this simply because she was uncomfortable.

Lucifer's face falls, “do you not like it?”

“I… no, I just don't want you to be uncomfortable in an attempt to help me, that's all.”

Lucifer smiles as they rub her shoulder, “Chloe I've been almost every combination of race and gender of my lifetime, I am perfectly comfortable like this.”

“But you just look like a female you?” she says slightly confused, what are the odds that Lucifer randomly looks almost the same.

“That my dear, I believe is on you,” they say with a familiar smirk.

“What?”

“You said that since there was no female me you would have to get over your men allergy and well here I stand,” they say with a grin.

Chloe chuckles at that, she still has to get over her issues but she isn't gonna complain about this. “So your gonna stay like this?” she asks now interested in the logistics of this whole shape-changing thing.

Lucifer stretches out their limbs, “I don't see why not, I have missed being a woman, it's has been a long time. Assuming it's alright with you of course,” they say nervously.

“Lucif— actually what should I call you now?”

“I don't see why Lucifer doesn't work, I'm still the Lightbringer no matter my form.”

Chloe shakes her head, “going by Lucifer in your last from already turned enough heads, now it would be even more bizarre.”

“True, you humans are so weird about your gender norms. Very well, call me Lucy,” she says with a smile.

“Ok Lucy,” Chloe says giving her a peck on the cheek. “I'm happy as long as you are happy.”

“I'm glad, I have really missed orgasms like this,” she says.

Chloe just rolls her eyes, yup same old Lucy. “so you're really a woman know huh,” she thinks aloud.

“Well I'm not more a woman now than I was a man before, I am an angel and this is my corporeal form. But it's close enough, I still don't really understand the whole gender binary thing humanity is so fond of, you humans and you're little made-up rules,” she says with a chuckle.

“So do all angels can do this?” she asks.

“I think so but I'm the only one of my siblings that regularly changes, I don't entirely know why but it just feels right. Cant be the queen of desire if I don't have the ability to appeal to everyone now can I,” she says as she poses provocatively in the mirror.

“And I assume you are always attractive?”

“See something you like detective,” she teases shaking her ass a little and Chloe fails miserably to hide a blush. “Of course I always am, though it changes depending on what is considered conventionally attractive and where I am, beauty standards have changed a lot over the millennia.”

Chloe smiles remembering reading something about how today's beauty standards were the opposite of what they were a few centuries ago. She wraps her arms around Lucy’s waist and hugs her from behind. Lucy is still tall, maybe 4 or 5 inches taller than she is and of course drop dead gorgeous. Best of all they can touch each other again, she even kissed Lucy without even noticing until now. The moment is ruined by the tingle of arousal, not that she doesn't want to sleep with Lucy because she really does but anything that brings attention to her vagina is now apparently a reminder of what she suffered. She is determined to recover however, part of her can't wait to hear the obscene sounds Lucy will make while she— nope that's really not helping things. The next thing to do is figure out what the hell they are going to tell everyone, it's not as though no one will notice the change.

“So your Lucy now,” Trixie asks.

“Yes, child is that alright?

“Yup that's fine, my friend Sammy’s brother changed his name and stuff too, she says being supportive is important.”

Lucy smiles, she somehow got incredibly lucky with Beatrice and the detective, they are the only humans who have accepted her after knowing all her secrets, not that she really hides anything but people don't believe her. Linda was also accepted but it took her time and it changed things in a way that it didn't with them.

“Plus now I have two moms, Max in my class has two dads but I'm the only one with two moms,” Trixie says with a look of victory and Lucy chokes on her pancakes as much as a being who doesn't really need to eat or breath can.

She looks at Chloe for help but only finds a smug look that means I told you so. “I suppose… so child,” she replies, she can tell Chloe is enjoying seeing her flustered.

Trixie lights up with an idea, “can I go clothes shopping with Lucy, mommy?! Please, She can't wear her old clothes and you are way too small for her to wear yours!”

Chloe huffs in mock offence, “I am a perfectly reasonable height thank you very much, Lucy is just freakishly tall.”

“I will have you know 5’10 is not freakish by any means nor was 6’3”

Trixie just grins at them enjoying the show and puts her puppy eyes to work, “so can I pleaseeeeee?”

“If it's alright with your mother then I suppose so, I do need a new wardrobe regardless, so many more undergarments to choose from,” she says with a wink at Chloe.

“Sure why not as Long as Lucy promises not to buy you everything you ask for like last time,” Chloe replies ignoring Lucy’s comment about lingerie.

“I did not buy her everything she asked for I bought her everything except one thing, it's only money detective and I have it accessible.”

Chloe just gives her a look, “Lucy,” she says as a warning.

“Right very well, I shall limit the clothing I buy to what you would deem reasonable.”

“Where are all the suits you bought,” Trixie asks as they walk out of the store.

“Please child I don't buy off the rack, it takes time,” Lucy explains.

“I don't know what that means but you also need pretty dresses.” Trixie has been dying to doll up Lucy and her plan is failing miserably.

“We will get there Beatrice, I need daily attire first.”

“Lucy you wear the fanciest things every day and it’s always suits.”

“Yes but your mother says that I must wear pants while working and I still have to look good.”

Unfortunately for Trixie, Lucy is far too versed in fashion to let Trixie doll her up but on the bright side makeup and accessories did not count as clothing and so she got far more spoils than she could have hoped for. Trixie wasn't super into fashion stuff but she did enjoy getting dressed up and she wasn't gonna turn down the opportunity to get free things. Plus she could always sell this stuff at school if she never used it.

After suits and accessories, there was a store that had frilly underwear that barely covered the mannequins and apparently according to Lucy they were supposed to be like that. Then finally they went dress shopping and though everything was way fancier than what Trixie was familiar with she managed to convince Lucy on a few items and pick a few things out for herself.

The whole experience had been much more difficult than Lucy had anticipated, of course, it was a lot more challenging to call in favours when your appearance had changed drastically but she managed. The other issue she was fully aware of was that Lucifer Morningstar with this face did not legally exist yet and going back to work would be a challenge, now for both Chloe and her but they would figure it out, together.

“Lucy, what is Trixie gonna do with concealer? She's 10!” Chloe chastised them after they returned home.

“She made a very convincing argument detective,” she says with a smile.

“You and your loopholes,” Chloe complained but it was only halfhearted. Lucy had been fairly responsible with the whole trip but she was still Lucy so Chloe counted it as a win. Lucy had begun making more of an effort with Trixie, not that her daughter had needed any more convincing to be happy that they were together. Chloe had even caught Lucy reading a parenting book once before Lucy had promptly lit it on fire rather than let Chloe see what it was.

Chloe was mainly glad they were home now, she had tried reading but being alone in the house had put her on edge. She had talked to her mom on the phone for a bit but she was annoying as ever and Chloe wasn't gonna tell her about what had happened. Life was gonna be weird for both of them and it would take some adjustments but they had each other. The other thing concerning Chloe was the fact she had stepped on a thumbtack and hadn't bled even though she was pretty sure it should have pricked her, she wasn't hurt at all. Maybe it was nothing but she had a suspicion there were more side effects to Lucy healing her than they had thought.

Also just for clarity, I'm switching over to calling Lucifer Lucy just for my own sanity while writing this. Lucy's name is still Lucifer Morningstar, Lucy is simply a nickname the same way Beatrice is called Trixie.

Chapter Text

“So this is what you look like now?” Linda says at Lucy’s Saturday morning appointment while trying to look anywhere but at Lucy’s boobs or the few drops of blood on her suit pants. Lucifer or now Lucy had burst into her office as always though this change was most definitely unexpected especially since she had seen Lucy in her old form, not 2 fulls days ago.

“Yes, doctor do you need me to explain it all again?” Lucy asks, she had given the doctor the same rundown she had told Chloe but had left out why exactly she had changed now and what prompted it as it wasn't her’s to share.

“No no, I think I understand. I just wasn't expecting—what's with the blood?

“Oh bloody hell, this is a new suit,” she complains

“What happened? Are you injured? Did you have your period, wait can you even have a period?” Linda asks quickly spiralling from being a concerned friend.

“No doctor,” Lucy laughs, “I'm no more fertile in this form than any other.” A look of horror slowly spreads across her face, “unless it's possible to self-actualize, the detective better not want another child because there is no way in hell I want one of my own.”

“Lucy neither of you have a penis now, how would that even work?”

“Doctor I am literally a being that defies humanity's rules of reality, we have no idea what my subconscious is capable of.”

“Right never mind, what's with the blood then?”

“Oh, I punished a few people who deserved it before coming over here, got a little messier than I expected,” she said with a smile and a face that said I'm not giving you details.

“Oh, ok umm so…” Linda says trying to shift her mind into therapist mode and making a mental note to look into some resources about transgender people, most of it probably wouldn't be of any help to Lucy but she had been meaning on expanding her knowledge of such things in case a patient needed it. “Well, how are you adjusting, this seems like a big change?”

“Well it's nothing I haven't done before,” Lucy deflects.

“Luci-y, you know that's not what I meant, you're currently in a relationship and have people around you who will have to adjust to this change. How is Chloe taking it?”

“Well after a slight panic over waking up cuddling with me like this she adjusted quite fast. Beatrice insisted on taking me shopping though I saw through her ruse of simply trying to dress me up like a princess.”

“Yes I see you're sticking to your suits,” she probes, she is somewhat relieved that this hasn't broken Lucy and Chloe up. She does know that transition can be a hurdle for regular human relationships let alone one with the devil herself.

“Well if anything I am less used to pants considering I am over 14 billion years old and it was pretty much just robes in the silver city but the detective insists that pants are needed when working.”

Linda chuckles at that, “what about the others in your life, your bother, Maze, Ella, Dan?”

“Well as you know my brother has yet to return from the silver city after escorting Charlotte though it's not something he hasn't seen before. Maze was completely unphased when I saw her this morning.”

“Well that's good at least,” Linda says, part of her misses Amenadiel more than she thought she would but Lucy said that he would most likely return soon. She is glad that Lucy was able to make amends with Maze, they had had a bad fight but they had grown a lot and managed to stay on good terms.

“Miss Lopez and Daniel are more of a problem I suppose, they are unaware of my true nature and Daniel still partially blames me for Charlotte's death but things were returning to how they were. I don't know how they with rationalize the change but I don't doubt we will remain amicable.

“Is Dan still unaware you and Chloe are dating?” Linda asks.

“Yes still thick as a doorknob that one,” Lucy says with a chuckle.

“As funny as it kinda is it will most likely backfire on you two,” she says, it had been comical for a while but the longer it went on the worse Dan’s reaction was going to end up being.

“Don't be such a party pooper doctor, what's the worst that could happen now that I can be invulnerable when I want to be.”

“Lucy need I remind you that you've only managed to control your invulnerability twice and the second time was an accident?”

“I'm sure it will all work out, no need to spoil all my fun doctor,” she says with a sigh.

Linda just shakes her head and decides to move on, same old Lucy.

“So what was your first form like?” Chloe asks snuggled up with Lucy. She was enjoying the physical touch, sure she was still jumpy around Lucy but that was the same with everyone still. Trixie was off working on some crazy project she had so the adults were left to their own accord, Chloe wasn't feeling up for going out so they decided to just relax on the couch. She still hadn't pinpointed what exactly had been freaking her out, sure Lucy’s hands were a little smaller but they were still the hands of a pianist and yet now they didn't bother her at all.

“Well when I picked my first form I didn't have much to go on,” Lucy begins, even for a being that cant forget her memories of that time are foggy. “Amenadiel picked a form that most resembled father and stuck with that.”

“Amenadiel looks the most like God, what does your dad look like?” Chloe asks.

“I'm not entirely sure how to describe him, I suppose he resembles that actor who voiced Ox from the second kung fu panda movie.”

“Wait, you watched the second kung fu panda?”

“So what if I did. Anyways I suppose my father resembles Dennis Haysbert, I think his name is,” she says.

“Huh, I always imagined him as an old white guy with a big beard.”

“Really? Even after learning of my devilish nature?!” Lucy says cackling as if Chloe has just said the funniest thing in the world.

“Well how was I supposed to know what the co-creator of the universe looks like,” she laughs.

Lucy just shakes her head and wipes tears from her eyes, “right so Amenadiel mimicked him, Michael and I were a little more creative we made ourselves tall pale and blond, yes I was once blond it was not fitting on me at all. Then the younger twins Gabriel and Raphael became my first sisters, and after that things started getting more diverse. I suppose one of the few things my father ever did right was letting us pick whatever form we wanted.”

“Huh, I wouldn't have thought that,” she said deep in thought. Lucy absolutely hated her father and Chloe never thought she would hear something positive about him.

“Yes, he told us that it was important we chose vessels that our souls would appreciate, unfortunately, the church did not follow suit with that aspect. My father is many things but a bigot he is not.”

“Well, that's good I guess, the whole gay people are going to burn in hell thing ensured that there was no way I was letting Dan take Trix to church no matter how accepting they claimed to be.”

“Well I would say that was the right choice for many reasons detective, my father hardly needs more followers,” she jokes before her smile drops. “Of course, there are queer people in hell but they are not there for simply existing as such, excluding those that feel tremendous guilt over their identities and were essentially bullied into my domain. Guilt is by no means a fair method of determining what's just, the vast majority of people who take their own life end up in my domain and it's not because of some celestial rule. Even monsters who feel no guilt never enter my realm. Stalin isn't in hell because of all the people he killed, he's in hell because he feels guilty over cheating on his wife and then driving her to suicide, worst of all Alliluyeva's cell is only a few doors down from his,” she says with a pained laugh.

Chloe has no idea what even to say of what even to say, Lucy had mentioned how horrible guilt was for determining where souls should go but she never had gone into so much detail. She added god to the list of cosmic entities she was definitely going to punch if she ever met them along with Dream.

“Oh damn… literally,” she jokes. “How was your appointment with Linda? Any progress controlling your vulnerability?” she asks trying to change the subject.

“Unfortunately not, at least we know my power and abilities are controlled by my subconscious and emotions but I've yet to figure out anything consistent. The doctor was also somewhat distracted by my whole situation though I avoided sharing what happened to you.”

Chloe gives her a smile and a nod, she had debated asking Lucy to not share what happened but she didn't want to impose like that. Finding her in that state couldn't have been easy even for someone so used to cruelty, though part of her was glad that she avoided the topic, it was already a little awkward being friends with Lucy’s therapist sometimes. She had also noticed that Lucy had left an hour early, hadn't taken her car and returned with some blood on her suit so she had deduced that she had made that personal visit.

“How are you holding up Chloe?” she asks, “was Beatrice being here more comforting than being alone?”

Of course, Lucy had noticed, that she could switch from being blind as a bat to being able to hear a change in her heartbeat in a second, it was uncanny. “Yea it was better having the background noise, I may have drowned any memories in booze and ice cream though, who says the party cant start at 2 PM?” she tries to joke but it doesn't land, she doesn't want to pressure Lucy to be around her 24/7 but since coming back from the hospital and passing out she can't sleep alone and she cant be understimulated too long or she starts thinking about things too much. It's honestly embarrassing how helpless she feels, she can't even busy herself reading a book anymore.

“Darling as much as I enjoy a good party, alcohol is a depressant and should not be used as such, ice cream on the other hand is much more acceptable. It is truly a dark day when I must be the reasonable one darling,” Lucy says.

“Thanks, mom,” Chloe snorts in self-pity. She's a cop, she should know better than to try to drink her emotions away and now she is trying not to cry again. She keeps reminding herself that things will get better, even so, she still has to experience her life until they get better so it's not super helpful.

“It's alright love,” Lucy says wrapping an arm around her, “we solved your physical touch issue and we will find a solution to the next.”

“Lucy we haven't fixed my last issue, we just found a way around it for us. If Dan tries to give me a handshake I'm still gonna have a heart attack.”

Lucy rubs her hand over Chloe’s back in a calming motion to her relief it does now seem to help. “It's still progress love, we will figure it out and I will be by your side the entire way. As always darling, If you need me you can always pray and if it's not beyond my power to come then I shall do so, you have my word.”

“Mommy?” Trixie asks interrupting the moment, “are you ok?”

Chloe sniffs and wipes away tears, “yea baby I'm fine it's just been a long day.”

“But it's Saturday,” Trixie says confused, weekends are for doing fun things so she doesn't really understand why her mom has had a bad day.

Lucy pats the couch in between them and Trixie scrambles to snuggle up, “Beatrice I may have healed your mother’s wounds but it was still a very unpleasant experience for her and it's going to take time for her to fully recover.”

Trixie snuggles up with her moms and squeezes Chloe in a tight hug, “it's ok mom, we love you.”

“Thanks, monkey, I love you both too, it's just gonna take some time for things to go back to normal for me,” Chloe says kissing her daughter on her forehead. If she didn't know God was an ass she would probably thank him at this moment for Lucy and Trix. Her daughter always knew how to cheer her up and she had the devil would storm the gates of heaven if need be for her, she could do this, she would find a way to go back to normal.

Notes:

Also in case, you are wondering, this is what I imagine Lucy's singular off-the-rack suit looks like.

Chapter 6: Enjoying The Tea?

Notes:

Hello dear readers, this chapter is a tad spicier than the previous ones so I hope you enjoy it!

Chapter Text

Just as the night before her sleep was plagued by nightmares. She only managed to sleep wrapped in the arms of her now girlfriend but it didn't fully stop the dreams. Lucy was nothing but supportive but it was still embarrassing to wake multiple times a night due to bad dreams, she felt like a child. For some reason even with her lack of proper sleep she didn't feel run down in the mornings, Chloe was betting that it was some kind of residual divine energy from being healed and maybe that was the case for the thumbtack incident.

Yesterday evening had been a bit awkward trying to figure out how to get comfortable. Neither of them was used to Lucy’s new form and considering it was smaller, curvier and had breasts it took a bit to figure out what worked. It was also a reminder to Chloe that over Lucy’s entire very long life no one had ever really cuddled with her before her and it always broke her heart a little.

This evening was more comfortable, Chloe had forgotten how comfortable breasts were and considering that Lucy ran way hotter than was humanly possible it was all the better, how she ever slept before without boob pillows was a mystery. Lucy was delighted to find out that she was now small enough that Chloe could be the big spoon, though that did mean no fluffy wing blankets for Chloe.

She also appreciated that Lucy hadn't brought up anything about sex since she woke in the hospital, it had been a very frequent event for them but she knew she was not ready. She was also pretty sure that Lucy was happy to wait to build anticipation, she had always had a thing about delayed gratification, though it surprised Chloe a little that Lucy hadn't taken her new body for a spin yet.

Lucy had woken Chloe from a nightmare a little before dawn and she was too awake now to go back to sleep. Lucy made them some tea and they got back into bed awaiting the inevitable disturbance of a 10-year-old.

Just because she wasn't ready for sex didn't mean she couldn't enjoy the sight of her naked girlfriend rummaging around the room looking for pillows. Lucy was no more against nudity than she was before and Chloe secretly hoped then she would find Lucy parading around the house naked when Trix wasn't around like she used to do. Of course like she had been Lucy was still a beautiful sight, she was the perfect mix of soft and curvy along with muscular and lean and on top of that she still had abs because of course she did. She had had zero complaints about Lucy before but she wasn't fully aware of how much she liked women until now.

“Enjoying the tea?” Lucy said with a grin on her face and it was apparent she had been caught staring.

“Yea, um sorry,” Chloe said blushing into her teacup. Lucy was the only person she had ever met that could actually make her truly blush and she still wasn't sure if that was a good thing or not considering how often Lucy caused that reaction.

“Don't be sorry, detective, you have an attractive woman in your bed who is willing to do whatever you want her to, feel feel to admire.” The other thing consistent about Lucy was her ego, she had learned a long time ago however that it wasn't just macho bragging and could easily be backed up. Lucy was just blunt and always spoke the truth even if that sometimes made her seem like a bit of a narcissist.

“Yes and I really appreciate that,” Chloe said trying not to think about how Lucy’s breasts swayed when she leaned down for a kiss. She has always been somewhat embarrassed about how much she was attracted to Lucy and now it was way worse, Chloe Decker was way gayer than could have imagined and the devil was the queen of desire.

“If I knew you would have enjoyed this so much I would have done this a long time ago,” Lucy says with a wink as she slides back into bed beside her. “Whatever shall we do this morning,” Lucy says with a look of innocence as she arches her back to press her breasts against Chloe.

Chloe’s breath catches in her throat, let it be said that the devil was absolutely a master of seduction. Without a second thought, Chloe leans forward and kisses her, her brain far too entranced to overthink things. Making out is a good first step to returning to normal and she knows that Lucy won't push her for anything she isn't ready to give yet.

The experience is a lot different than she thought it would be, there was a weird mismatch between the fact she saw Lucy as the same person but was quite different physically. There was no stubble brushing against her cheek, let alone a different facial shape and somehow softer skin than she used to have.

She nibbled on Lucy’s bottom lip drawing an obscene moan from her partner. Lucy had never been a quiet lover something that Chloe quite enjoyed. She ran her hand up Lucy’s chest before gently massaging her breasts. Chloe laughed at the idea that a bigger was better, Lucy’s chest was smaller than Chloe’s but she still looked like a goddess, not that that was a compliment Lucy would have liked. Hey your hot, y’know like your mom. Chloe pulled away but leaned her forehead against Lucy to catch her breath, she wasn't able to go further than making out like horny teenagers but it still gave her a sense of normality she had missed.

“Tease,” Lucy teases without meaning it as she gives her one last chaste kiss on the lips and then pulls away with a genuine smile.

“Oh I'm sure you can take care of yourself as long as you can be quiet,” Chloe retorts as she sips her tea.

Lucy stands and scratches like a cat before unfurling her wings and shaking them out. “Oh we both know I can't do that,” she says with a grin as she pulls her wings behind her, winks at Chloe and heads downstairs.

Chloe is too busy choking on her tea to realize that Lucy has just gone downstairs fully naked. This round goes to Lucy Morningstar.

After forcing her partner into clothing and a luxurious breakfast they decided to go to the park, Chloe wanted to go out for a bit and Trixie loved the park. The outing was pretty standard and luckily for Chloe, she could still go to the public park without freaking out. She was still jumpy but as long as no one but Lucy and Trixie were close to her she was ok. However, on the way back Lucy asked to make a stop at Lux.

“So why do you want to stop by Lux at mid-afternoon on a Sunday?” Chloe asked waiting for the light to change green.

“Well a made a few personal visits to Lux yesterday, firstly I did that thing that I had mentioned,” Lucy says eyeing the eavesdropping 10-year-old in the back seat. “After the um… punishment I had to take care of the boring legal stuff to ensure that this face was now attributed to Lucifer Morningstar, it was quite tedious. My lawyer thought I was my own twin, honestly, I shudder to think that people mistake me for Michael. Regardless it turns out something I had been working on is ready and so I have a surprise for you both.”

Chloe nodded and tried not to worry. She had always hated surprises and though Lucy had yet to surprise her with anything bad, part of her always needed to know what was going on as she had to deal with Penelope Decker as her mother.

Chloe pulled into her designated parking spot beside Lucy’s and climbed out of the car. She realized it had been a few weeks since she had been at Lux. Lucy led them through the empty club and Patrick greeted her with the same old “hey boss” without blinking an eye, Chloe wasn't sure how much Patrick knew about Lucy but he seemed to be the type to not ask questions. The first thing she noticed was a large keypad in the elevator, Lucy had installed a lock on the elevator for every floor now.

“The penthouse passcode is 3108,” Lucy says as they step into the elevator, Trixie gleefully pushes the pin but nothing happened. Lucy gently takes Chloe’s hand and guides her thumb to what she recognizes as a fingerprint scanner, a moment later the light blinks green and the elevator began ascending.

“How did you get my fingerprints?” Chloe asks shocked.

“Come now a lady must have some secrets, Beatrice’s fingerprints are also in the system so you may both come and go as you please.

“Awesome!” Trixie squeals and something occurs to Chloe.

“You made the password Trixie’s birthdate?” she asks.

Lucy looks slightly embarrassed, “well I needed something I could easily remember and I had already used your birthday for my safe. I know its probably a bit strange but I can change it if—”

“No Lucy it’s really sweet,” Chloe says cutting her off and giving her a quick kiss. She was fully aware the as Lucy had a perfect memory and had chosen those codes because they were meaning full to her.

The elevator arrives and Lucy guides them into the penthouse. Trixie was almost vibrating with excitement, the Penthouse was one of her favourite places to be but with all the old fragile things she was not allowed to freely explore the place and it took all her self-control not to do so.

At first, Chloe didn't really notice a difference but upon further inspection, it seemed more child friendly. Gone were the antiques and old tomes, now they had their own cases and shelves away from small hands, Lucy had even installed a door in her bedroom or rather a small door curtain that could give some semblance of privacy.

“This way loves, you haven't seen the best part yet,” Lucy says leading them downstairs past the kitchen, living room and towards the guest bedrooms. One of the doors was painted blue with a picture of mars and a little spaceship, below the image, was a plaque that said Urchin in gold lettering. Trixie’s eyes light up when she sees the door and bursts through it.

“Oh, my g-devil!” Chlo quickly corrects as she sees the room in front of her. It was a fully furnished bedroom with white and dark blue walls. Against the wall was a modern queen-sized bed along with two long short white shelves and a bookshelf.

“I wasn't entirely sure what the Urchin would enjoy so I mimicked the theme of her current bedroom. Of course, there is plenty of space for Beatrice to make it her own along with extra soundproofing in the walls should we ever need it,” Lucy whispers in Chloe’s ear.

“This is awesome, thanks, Lucy!” Trixie says avoiding her defences and successfully tacking her in a hug.

“Yes well, I may have heard you discussing how much you two liked the penthouse and wished you could live here. I thought with everything that’s going on at the moment a fresh start would be helpful, of course, if my assumption was wrong then at least you have somewhere to stay here occasionally,” Lucy explains quickly losing confidence over her surprise at Chloe’s stunned reaction.

Chloe can't help but giggle a bit at the situation, she had been planning on having a discussion about moving in either at her place or the penthouse but it seems like Lucy had been thinking about it too. She glances over at Lucy to notice a slightly worried expression and realized she had taken a look at the room and burst into laughter without another world.

“No no, it's great, I had been trying to figure out a way to approach the topic of moving in together and well you apparently read my mind.”

“So you want to move in?” Lucy asks with a hopeful expression.

“I would love to and so would Trixie. I mean you could move into my place but yours is wayyyyy nicer plus it has a hot tub.”

Lucy pulls her into a kiss far too erotic for the presence of a 10-year-old but Chloe can't help but melt into her arms a little. “Your present comes later detective, I was planning to get you lingerie but I realize that's more of a gift for myself so instead I bought lingerie for myself that I'm sure you will enjoy when the time is right.”

Chloe could help but laugh, she was looking forward to it. Lucy was right, a new start and a change of scenery might help her readjust. The penthouse was spacious and the bathtub was truly divine however the best part was that she would wake up every day next to her girlfriend. Though now they would have to introduce Dan to Lucy and tell him they were moving in together, that was easier said than done.

Chapter 7: Emotional Support Devil

Notes:

Welcome back dear readers, the moment we've all been waiting for, introductions! Ella is Ella and Dan is a douche no surprise there, enjoy!

Chapter Text

Last night they had returned to Chloe’s apartment, much to Trixie’s annoyance, it would take a little while to pack and figure everything out and they hadn't prepared to spend the night at the penthouse anyways.

Sleep hadn't been peaceful for Chloe but significantly better than sleeping alone however as time went on more and more memories trickled back to her, more fuel for her nightmares. Chloe had gone with Lucy to drop Trixie at school as they had to make sure that the school knew she was allowed to pick Trixie up. Luckily nothing about dropping her daughter at school and stopping by its office caused any flashbacks but now was the time to deal with the precinct. The precinct was definitely a boys club and she doubted the day would be easy since she was on desk duty for the day around people. Lucy was happy to accompany her even if she rarely helped with paperwork, either way, she was glad to have her emotional support devil. Plus now was a good day as any to introduce Lucy to her colleagues and ensure that she was still her work partner.

When they entered the percent all eyes focused on Lucy. She wasn't even dressed up as much as she normally was because the only thing she had that was appropriate for police work was the single off-the-rack suit she had picked, still, she looked as magnificent as ever. Chloe was glad at least that the attention wasn't on her. Dan fell slack-jawed when he saw Lucy trotting alongside Chloe.

“Uh, hey Chloe… um,” he says not taking his eyes off Lucy.

“Hey Dan, this is Lucy,” Chloe said trying to not react to Dan who looks like he might be in love.

“Hi, Lucy, I’m uh Dan-Daniel Espinoza, are you Lucifer’s twin?” Dan asks managing to get the words across.

“Close enough,” Lucy replies and to Chloe’s horror Lucy blushes and giggles slightly.

“Uh what brings you to LA?” he asks feeling more confident from her response.

“Well I needed a vacation and someone needs to run Lux so here I am,” she says with a flirtatious smile and flutter of her eyelids. Chloe would probably feel jealous if she now wasn't absolutely sure Lucy was messing with Dan. Not that she got jealous often, that was more Lucy’s thing. Surprisingly Lucy hadn't blinked at the concept of monogamy, though considering she was a devil of her word it made sense. If she said she only had eyes for Chloe then she did, not that it stopped her from flirting with suspects and such but she wasn't jealous. It gave Chloe a sense of power that no matter how flirtatious or attractive someone was, Lucy only wanted her.

“Oh cool, where did uh Lucifer go?” Dan asked and Lucy glanced at Chloe for her to answer as she did not lie.

“He uh had to go home to help someone in his family recover,” Chloe answered pretty much truthfully. Lucy had in fact gone home to Chloe’s apartment and was helping her recover.

“Oh that's… a shame I guess,” he says obviously not too disappointed.

Dan was slightly taller than Lucy now but she still managed to look down at him, “you should come by Lux sometimes Mr. Espinoza, I've put a new spin on things.” Lucy didn't mention that the changes were in the penthouse but that still counted as Lux.

“Really? Wow, yea sure I was kinda thinking about asking you myself,” Dan laughs nervously and completely misses the smug predatory look in Lucy’s eye.

“Oh no not like that, I'm actually about to move in with my girlfriend,” Lucy says clearly delighted about turning Dan down and bringing up her dating Chloe in the same sentence.

“No right, of course, that's uh.. that's cool…,” Dan splutters clearly embarrassed but Lucy is unforgiving.

“Oh don't be jealous Mr. Espinoza, I swing all the ways,” she whispers in his ear as she runs a finger up his chest.

Dan turns beet red, “ahem* right, I uh work,” she sputters and all but runs away.

Lucy turns to Chloe with a gleeful expression, “I believe your ex has a crush on me.”

Chloe can't help but chuckle and shake her head. “Great now you have a new way to torment him, also Mr. Espinoza? Really?”

“Well, I'm supposed to be my sister I wouldn't call him sir douche now would she? Plus considering he is a detective I assume he would take offence to such manners. Though I doubt he will ever call me out on it,” she says giddily with all the new ways she can torture dan.

The day begins to pass without issue, the new lieutenant Olivieri is a woman so Chloe’s private meeting with her goes alright. Lucy manages to sweet talk her way into remaining Chloe’s partner. Ella is at a crime scene so Lucy spends most of her time flirting with Dan and telling Maze all about it. Chloe has spent the morning avoiding people as much as she could, one because people now put her on edge but two if she got another compliment about her appearance she was going to stab someone. So far Dan had been the only person not to mention anything but either that was on purpose or he was just distracted by Lucy.

Eventually, Chloe relaxed a bit, she had had a few moments of anxiety and bad memories but nothing major and Lucy had been around for comfort. She was feeling good that was until officer Martin placed a hand on her arm as he passed by her. It should have been totally normal, simply a gesture to let the person know they were walking behind you in the small break room but Chloe still could not handle touch, especially touch she didn't see coming.

Chloe freezes up, probably a better reaction than fight in a police precinct. Officer Martin doesn't even notice and leaves with his coffee oblivious to Chloe trying to calm herself down. Her memories of the event have mostly returned by this point but there was always something that surprised her. For better or for worse she was beaten unconscious so she didn't have to witness all that was done to her but she remembers the tire iron now. She tries to pull herself from the memory as she recalls the painful sound of metal hitting flesh but fails, she is too caught up in the flashback. She feels far too hot and cold at the same time, her stomach turns and she realizes she stopped breathing.

She doesn't even remember how she got to the bathroom as she slumps against the wall trying to catch her breath. A moment later Lucy enters with a look of concern and rushes over to her, careful not to physically touch her but close enough Chloe can feel her presence. After a small sound of protest, she voluntarily sits on the ground beside her. Lucy is clearly not a fan of bathroom floors but now is not the time for such complaints.

“Just breath love, you're in the precinct bathroom not the warehouse. You are safe no matter how germ-ridden the environment is.,” Lucy says putting Chloe’s coffee down in front of her in case Chloe wants it.

Chloe takes a long sip of coffee before pulling Lucy into her space, she rests her head on her shoulder as Lucy wraps her arms around her happy that she is able to bring Chloe comfort. They sit there neither of them talking. Chloe breathes deeply calming herself and inhaling Lucy’s scent. Her smell is different as she has chosen less masculine perfumes but the undertones remain the same, it's a smell that means safety. With the devil around Chloe feels safe.

“Thanks, Lucy, I dont know what I do would do without you,” Chloe says as Lucy pulls away and helps her to her feet. However, Chloe is in no rush to get back to work so she hugs Lucy again snuggling into her and just closing her eyes for a moment. Lucy plants a hiss on her head and Chloe suddenly becomes very aware that her cheek is pressed against Lucy’s breast, that's one aspect she hasn't fully adjusted to yet. With an awkward smile and pulls away looking embarrassed but Lucy just laughs.

“Any time love, though If this happens again I shall simply try putting my breasts in your face,” she says with a smirk and a wink.

Chloe turns a little red before regaining her composure. “Oh shut up,” she whispers as she guides Lucy’s mouth to hers. It's a sweet kiss, one expressing their devotion to each other in ways words cannot.

“Decker what are you doing!? Lucifer’s gonna be heartbroken!” a familiar short now angry Latina says from behind them.

Over Lucy’s shoulder, she sees Ella looking at them with a mix of hurt and anger. Before Chloe can respond Lucy turns around, “Hello Miss Lopez, I assure you my heart is quite unbroken.”

Ella shifts from anger to confusion, “Lucifer?”

“In the flesh, I must say you truly picked a poor moment to disturb us,” she purrs.

“How?” Ella says crossing her arms and looking Lucy up and down.

“Come now Miss Lopez, you still believe in a method actress, I'm sure you came come up with a rational explanation,” Lucy says being tackled into a hug before she finishes her sentence.

“I'm so proud of you, what should I call you now?” Ella asks as Lucy awkwardly returns the hug. With anyone but Chloe or Trixie, she wasn't a huge fan of hugs though Ella did give excellent ones.

“Well my name is still Lucifer but I suppose you can call me Lucy,” she says glancing at Chloe who just shrugs, Ella knowing the truth even if missing large parts was probably better anyways. They hadn't even thought of a plan of what to tell people but she knew Lucy didnt lie. People explaining away Lucy’s bizarreness was nothing new, hell she had been in total denial for years but it was still weird seeing it from this perspective.

“Wow you look incredible, I mean you did before but wow. Modern medicine has really advanced huh,” Ella says inspecting. This was definitely easier than trying to explain that Lucy was a genderfluid (closest human equivalent though she wasn't a fan of labels) immortal being that transcends dimensions, rules hell and one of the first children of god.

“Yes well, that's more accurate than Daniel thinking in my own twin sister,” Lucy laughs.

“Dan thinks your “Lucifer’s” sister?!” Ella says with disbelief.

“Well, I think it's more manageable for his sanity considering his massive crush on yours truly.”

“NO??” Ella gasps.

“Lucy has been tormenting him all morning, I've never seen Dan so red,” Chloe chimes in with a snort. She managed to turn him down and talk about moving in with me in the same sentence, the look on Dans’s face, priceless.”

“YOUR MOVING IN TOGETHER,” Ella squeals.

After updating Ella on all the gossip and deflecting her million compliments about her appearance, Chloe was ready to get back to work. Having Lucy, Ella and even Dan to some extent around helped her feel a little more normal about things. Unfortunately, since she was on desk duty it was also extremely boring, she was looking forward to tomorrow when they would finally get a case, that would be what she needed to keep her mind off things.

“Hey Chlo,” Dan says as he stops by her desk, “I have some news about our warehouse case if we can go talk about it somewhere private,” he says nodding towards Lucy.

Lucy goes to speak but Chloe gives her a glair and she promptly shuts up., “Dan she's my partner, she's an official consultant you know.”

Dan’s eyes bug out a little, “she's your new partner?! So Lucifer just leaves and now his sister turns up and takes over his life including working with you?”

“Yup,” Chloe says popping the p, “pretty much,” doing her best to ignore his outburst. Dan has always been overprotective and that's continued into the last three years since their divorce, he can be incredibly irritating or as Lucy dubbed him a douche.

“Chloe, Lucifer let you go into that warehouse alone then vanished a few days after you are injured,” Dan all but yells before whispering. “Hell for all we know Lucifer was responsible for what happened to the guys we were looking for.”

“Is that what you were gonna tell me?”

“Oh uh yea, I was stopping by to tell you that the statement you gave was enough as the guys we were looking for turned up all with matching spinal injuries. None of them are ever gonna be able to feed themselves again and none of them are saying a word about what happened. Anyways they were found past the Nevada border so it's FBI jurisdiction now but I thought you would want to know.”

Chloe had given the blandest possible statement and it was perfect timing as they were supposed to do a formal interview this afternoon. Lucy must have ensured that that wouldn't happen as well as getting the case seized by the FBI. Her influence could be truly astonishing sometimes. “Okkk,” Chloe breaths harnessing her acting skills, considering she was the one that endorsed their punishment it was probably wise to not mention anything.

“Regardless,” Dan continues, “I told you Lucifer was bad news and fine to his credit he did save your life a couple of times but Lucy has no police training if anything she would just hinder you in the field. You need to get a partner who is a cop Chloe, this isn't gonna end well. She is barely taller than you, Lucifer was at least—”

“Dan I swear to go if you say, man, I am going to break your nose,” Chloe warns. She forgot how much of a dick Dan can be, Lucy and him used to have a whole macho thing going on and that had caused him to back off a little but apparently, that was over.

“No Chloe, that wasn't, not like that,” Dan splutters defensively.

“Tisk tisk tisk,” Lucy says with a predatorial grin on her face as she stands from her seat and approaches Dan. “Douche, can i call you douche? Of course, I can. Tell me douche what is it you truly desire more than anything else in this world?”

Dan goes slackjawed clearly entranced by Lucy’s mojo. “I want Chloe to be safe,” he finally says.

“Well then Daniel you have my word I shall keep her safe,” she says with a sweet smile. “And remember I know where you keep your pudding,” she threatens with a crazed look. To Chloe’s surprise that threat actually seemed to scare him though he did look equal parts aroused. Dan could be such a caveman, but Lucy was going to make him suffer for that comment, which made her feel a little better.

Chapter Text

Chloe wakes again in the night a cold sweaty mess and is lulled back to sleep by cuddles and a cocoon of white fluffy wings. She still feels rested in the morning however she feels freezing even though it's a lovely 22 degrees outside.

“Are you feeling alright love?” Lucy asks watching Chloe struggle to put on an extra sweater.

“Yea, I'm just feeling chilly today,” Chloe replies. Even with the sweater, she can't quite get warm. “I umm, does divine healing heal diseases as well?” she asks just wanting to be certain.

“Well Celestials cannot catch human ailments and my healing does not work on mortals beside you, honestly I have no idea what it's capable of. Why are you feeling unwell?”

“You were there when I woke up shivering but I'm still cold. Fuck! I should have gotten tested, y'know I have an IUD and just assumed divine healing would cure anything. Fuck Fuck Fuck I'm such an idiot,” Chloe yells into her hands, Trixie was at Dan’s for the next few days so she didn't have to be quiet.

“Chloe darling,” Lucy says pulling Chloe on her lap, “I would hedge my bets that my feathers could cure diseases however if you are not well it's probably not a bad idea to get tested. What exactly are you feeling love?”

Chloe wipes her eyes, “I'm just cold but besides that, I'm fine.”

“Hmm, you definitely seem to have a fever,” Lucy speculates holding the back of her hand to Chloe’s forehead.

Chloe in fact did have a fever even after taking her temperature for the 4th time in hopes of a different answer. She was really hoping it was just an oncoming cold rather than some kind of STD. Lucy was quite concerned, this wasn't the first time Chloe had gotten sick around Lucy but every time she became her personal nurse. It could be extremely annoying however Lucy did make excellent chicken soup, she was caring in a way that Dan or her mother was not when she had gotten sick in the past.

“Ok, so the plan is, to stop by the clinic, go to work then invite Dan to the penthouse for dinner to break the news that we are together and moving in.”

“Yes, and ensure that he brings the urchin and Beatrice gets to choose what we order. I think Daniel needs to eat more than Chinese food.”

“Chinese food is delicious,” Chloe says with a huff.

“It's not when it's all you eat throughout the week, I have nothing against leftovers however they cannot substitute groceries,” Lucy says exasperated.

“So how was it,” Lucy asks as Chloe gets back into the car.

“You ever peed in a cup before? Nope, dont answer that,” she corrects herself noticing the grin spreading across Lucy’s face. “Turns out I gotta wait like two weeks for results so it's not putting my mind at ease.”

“I could make it take less time if you would like, the doctor here owes me two favours, dont ask you dont want to know why.”

“No, it's fine unless more symptoms show up and I start to panic, let's just hope we get an interesting case today nothing too gruesome.

It was in fact gruesome, Chloe sat with Lucy in the car trying to get ahold of herself. She cursed Lucy’s father, what kind of twisted irony was this? They had arrived at the crime scene and Chloe had taken one look at the body before bolting back to the car. Two Young women, naked from the waist down and lying in a puddle of their own blood clutching each other, she didn't need any more information to gather what had happened.

“Yes this is particularly cruel, is it possible to um… return cases?” Lucy asks as she holds Chloe and rubs her back.

“I mean kinda but I would have to talk to the lieutenant about why and then I would be put on leave. Ugh, I just wanna get back to work.”

“Well, perhaps you need some time away from the job, being a homicide detective is not the most relaxing job and it definitely can't help considering what you went through..”

“No Lucy, we gotta get catch the bastard who did this. I… I just keep imagining that I could have easily been one of them if not for you,” she says unable to hold back tears.

“I'm so sorry love, I'm so sorry I took so long. I love you so much,” Lucy says holding her tight.

“I love you too,” Chloe mumbles. “Alright… let's do this,” Chloe says with a sniff before clearing her throat.

The case was indeed unpleasant. Both women had been stabbed in the neck and left to bleed out as they clung to each other in their last moments. They were both naked from the waist down with no sign of the missing garments, they didn't need forensics to try and find DNA, it was covering them. Most intriguing however were the notes, black sheets of paper covered in blood, homophobic slurs and bible verses. Chloe managed to keep her cool after needing a few minutes to adjust, Ella however was mortified.

“This is major serial killer vibes guys,” Ella said photographing the bodies. “Ugh, I hate fanatics, there's no way the big guy wants this.”

“I can assure you my father is quite indifferent to these matters as much as he claims to love you,” Lucy sneers revolted by the scene in front of them.

Chloe picks up one of the papers, “Genesis 19:4-5,” she reads out loud.

Ella makes a pained expression, ”a man shall not lie with a man as with a woman. It is an abomination.”

Lucy chuckles and shakes her head, “w’eth-zäkhār lö’ tiškav miškevē ‘iššâ,” she says in perfect Hebrew.

“Lucy neither Ella nor I speak um that language,” Chloe says waiting for a translation.

“Well there’s not an exact translation to English but the passage originally condemns incestuous, same-sex rape, humans are really bad at translation.”

Chloe chuckles a little, “Lucy you speak every language, how are we supposed to compete.”

“Wait how many languages do you speak?” Ella asks excitedly.

“All of them” with a shrug as she picks up another piece of bloody paper.

“Uh yea sure, hablas español?”

“Claro, al menos podrías haber intentado elegir algo difícil,” Lucy says without missing a beat.

Chloe smiled as she watched Ella name languages and Lucy reply in them, she knew Lucy could literally speak every language but it was still a wonder to witness.

Eventually, they get to question the man who found the body, Eddy Cambel, a homeless man who usually slept in the alley the victims were found in. Unfortunately, he hadn't seen anything useful and he did have a solid alibi, can’t get much better than spending the night in jail for shoplifting.

Dan who had arrived recently wasn’t super happy with Lucy giving Cambel a stack of cash.

“You know he’s just gonna spend it on drugs right?” he complained

“Daniel I was going to spend it on drugs and now he can at least do drugs in a lovely hotel room rather than an alleyway,” she retorts with an exasperated roll of her eyes.

Lucy and Dan’s dynamic was a weird one, half the time Dan reacted to her the way he always did and the other half he had an embarrassing crush. He obviously found her annoying but he seemed to like her better than before probably because they were no longer trying to one-up each other constantly, though looking back Chloe was pretty sure Lucy’s past behaviour around Dan was simply to torment him as with her flirting now. Still, the dynamic had changed, they still bickered about protocol and her behaviour but now she retaliated by seducing him until he ran away.

Chloe probably shouldn’t have found it as entertaining as she did but Ella seemed to find it hilarious so she didn’t put a stop to it.

Unfortunately for the case, the DNA they had didn’t show any matches in the system though they managed to identify the two victims, Avery Dabral and Lauren Morris. Unis had already informed Avery’s family with none for Lauren listed, considering the time they decide to save interviews for tomorrow.

Chloe still hasn't managed to get warm but she is no longer shivering like this morning. That remained the only symptom so Chloe is just hoping it will simply go away. She managed to get through the day without any unwanted touch however her breakdown over the crime scene ruined any sense of accomplishment.

“Oh Daniel,” Lucy calls as they approach, it's time for the third part of their plan.

“Uh hey,” Days says, doing his best to remain cool and collected and failing.

“I just wanted to know if you were interested in having dinner at Lux this evening. We can order whatever ever you'd like.”

“Oh,” Dan says, “I thought you were in a serious relationship?” At least Dan had some kind of standards Chloe thought as she stood at a nearby desk pretending to be busy.

“I am, my partner, the detective will also be there, feel free to bring that little urchin of yours, I don't mind some children,” She says truthfully but in a way that won’t be clear to him that the detective is her partner.

“Oh,” Dan says genuinely interested, his crush was getting kinda ridiculous at this point so something like this could be good for him. There was just something about her that could only be described as divine. “I would actually really enjoy that, I'm sure Trixie would like a night out.”

“Perfect, be there are 7, oh and when I said you I meant Beatrice, she can choose what we order.”

“Alright sounds good, oh and I wanted to apologize about earlier, I just worry about her sometimes?”

“Apology accepted douche, your pudding is safe…for now,” she says as she skips past Chloe and gives her a thumbs up.

Lucy being Lucy she went slightly overboard for what was essentially a family dinner. Chloe was wearing her regular attire plus sweater but Lucy had vanished to investigate some of her new clothing that had arrived. Trixie had texted saying she wanted Chinese food so after Lucy had a short rant about Dan’s influence she called in a favour for the fanciest Chinese Food Chloe had ever seen.

“How do I look, love?” Lucy asked, emerging from her–now their bedroom.

Chloe’s heart skipped a beat and she forgot to breathe as she took in her girlfriend. Lucy was wearing black trousers and a matching jacket along with a striped white dress shirt that was partially unbuttoned and a loose tie over her shoulders giving her a casual look. She had applied makeup as well, lip gloss, black eye shadow and her signature eyeliner. Her entire attire radiated power, she looked like a queen utterly comfortable upon her throne. Chloe realized she was finally no longer feeling cold mainly because she was overwhelmed by desire, it was going to be a long dinner.

Dan had a similar reaction to Chloe when seeing Lucy when he and Trixie arrived. Trixie ran over to Lucy and gave her a hug was easily accepted. Lucy embracing her was a sight Chloe would never tire of. She knew that Lucy could be relied upon to support Trix as much as she or Dan. Literal Satan, a being who hadn't known what a child was. was now an unofficial stepmom and a good one at that

“So where’s your partner?” Dan asks finally pulling himself from his trance and reminding himself that Lucy isn't on the market.

Lucy glances at Chloe as she releases Trixie from her embrace. “Right here Dan,” Chloe says giving a small shrug to Lucy

“Wait, you and Lucy?” Dan asks his eyes wide.

“Arnt they cute together Daddy?!” Trixie says looking at him hopefully.

“Like romantically— wait Chloe are you moving in here?” he says piecing together the situation and ignoring Trix.

Chloe walks over to Lucy and pulls her by the waist to her side in a moment of confidence. Lucy looks at her in happy surprise before leaning into her. “Yes Dan, Trixie why dont you show daddy your new room while we serve dinner.”

“Okay!,” Trixie yells as she pulls Dan towards her room, Chloe can make out a faint “new room?!,” as they pass.

“Look I know my initial reaction was… shocked, but I'm genuinely happy for you two. Obviously, it's early for moving in together but you are clearly good for Chloe, she’s been glowing like an angel all week. Trixie clearly adores you, hell you renovated the penthouse for her so well… you two have my support, not that you need it but you know… in the way tha—” Dan sputters as they share the gourmet Chinese food.

“Thanks, Dan,” Chloe says cutting him off before he can make things worse. “Thought it's actually been over two months now,” she says unable to restrain the jab.

“You two have been together for two months? How did I not know about this, I'm a detective!”

“I believe the term is thick as a doorknob,” Lucy chimed in helpfully.

Dan just shakes his head as he takes another bite of chicken. “Look Lucy I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt no matter how much I dislike your bother but if you hurt Chloe you will regret it.”

Chloe rolls her eyes, “Dan I'm an adult I can make my own decisions.”

“I know Chloe but—”

“Daniel,” Lucy singsongs in a sweet voice but menacing voice before getting out of her chair. “You have my word I shall not harm the detective however if you keep up this macho protective attitude you will regret it,” Lucy comes across as a lot more threatening than Dan does. “After all,” Lucy says as Daniels’s takeout container he was holding is whipped away from him and pinned to the wall behind him by a blade, “someone had to teach Mazikeen how to use her knives.”

Daniel nods with wide eyes, Chloe isn't sure what exactly he is feeling but she's pretty sure it's a mix of horror at the crimes against Chinese food, arousal and a lot of fear. Chloe had never seen Lucy use knives before but oh boy did it do things to her. Lucy had a lot more power over Dan than before so hopefully, that would keep him at bay. Chloe had seen Lucy fidgeting with a set of knives she had dug out of the closet earlier but damn she wasn't expecting that.

“Wow, that was amazing!” Trixie shouts looking at Lucy with awe. “Can you hit something balancing on my head?”

“Of course, I can Urchin, there are apples in the kitchen,” Lucy replies with a warm smile.

“NO!” Dan and Chloe shout in unison a moment after Trixie bolts for the kitchen. Chloe has confidence Lucy could probably hit an apple off Trixie’s head from two miles away while blindfolded but she was absolutely not gonna risk it. Note to self have the knife chat with Lucy.

Notes:

Also this plus longer hair and knives is what i imagine Lucy looked that for dinner.

Chapter 9: You Clearly Learned From The Best

Notes:

Welcome back, dear readers. Got some good fluff and plot development and some smut sprinkled on top.

Enjoy!

Chapter Text

“Your still quite warm darling, how are you feeling?” Lucy asks as they tidy up the kitchen after Dan and Trix leave for the evening.

“I still feel… chilly but not freezing like I was before. It's like someone turned down the thermostat of the earth but only for me,” she says with a weak laugh.

“Hmmm, I'm afraid I dont know much about human diseases however I haven't seen anything like this before.”

“Well… I was kinda thinking that maybe… it has something to do with you healing me. If it could make me look 10 years younger then it could probably do lots more,” Chloe says thinking it over.

Lucy clenches her jaw, she clearly doesn't like the idea that this is her doing but it does make sense. Then Chloe remembers something, “you know when you went shopping with Trix I stepped on a thumb tack and I was fine. I thought it was weird but shrugged it off but what you somehow gave me part of your invulnerability. Ugh never mind it's stupid,” Chloe says realizing how crazy it all sounds, she is regular Chloe Decker—except being a miracle whatever that means.

“It's not stupid detective, this is a first for us however there is a simple way to test if you have my immortality,” she says as she pulls out a knife.

Chloe tenses up remembering the feeling of the switchblade on her skin. The warm stinging feeling as they cut into her like a piece of meat. Upon noticing her reaction Lucy quickly puts the knife back, “apologies love.”

“No no, it's ok. It just… brought some stuff back,” she says somewhat embarrassed. “

“If you still want to test your theory I believe I do have a sewing kit,” Lucy says not wanting to pressure her but also curious herself.

“You have a sewing kit,” Chloe says with a chuckle, “you don’t seem the type.”

“Please,” Lucy says with a roll of her eyes, “believe it or not I don’t always have my suits professionally repaired not when I can do just as good.”

“Of course you do, go get that sewing kit,” Chloe says with a smile.

“Ok so not invulnerable,” Chloe says watching a drop of blood leak from her finger.

“Yes but I don’t imagine you are disappointed,” Lucy says, pulling her back onto the bed. They had finished cleaning the kitchen before preparing for bed and doing a little experiment, Chloe hadn’t been sure which result she had wanted.

“No I guess not, with all the things going on now it’s probably for the best I’m not suddenly invincible, I’ve had enough weird changes for one lifetime thank you very much.”

“Well I imagine you would make a very attractive superhero love, pants on the outside are ludicrous but you could pull them off,” Lucy says.

“You just want me in some skimpy outfit,” Chloe teases.

“Oh always darling, though I much prefer you in nothing,” Lucy replies, nuzzling Chloe’s neck but not moving towards anything else.

Chloe makes the first move pulling Lucy in for a kiss. She isn’t entirely sure what she can handle but she’s been dying for some sexual intimacy with Lucy and her attire has been driving her crazy all evening. Chloe bit Lucy’s lip mixing pain with pleasure in a way that only Chloe’s presence could.

Lucy melted into Chloe’s touch letting her take the lead, Lucy normally took the lead but she wanted to ensure Chloe was comfortable and well. she quite liked it when the detective took charge.

Chloe pulled away to catch her breath and fumbled with the buttons of Lucy’s shirt. Lucy had way too many clothes on for her liking and she wanted to touch her so badly. Chloe mimicked one of Lucy’s signature moves to nibble on her neck and visibly mark Lucy as hers.

Chloe pushed away Lucy’s shirt to reveal a lace red top that made her look more naked while wearing it. “Somone was prepared” Chloe teases as she traces her fingers over Lucy’s chest.

Lucy sucked in a breath at the contact, “come now detective, do you honestly believe I would not always wear lingerie in case the mood struck? I did promise you a gift after all.”

“Hmmm somehow I think it has more to do with you not having any normal underwear,” Chloe says as she pushes Lucy down on the bed

“Ooo take a dive through my sock drawer did you?” Lucy says as she seductively stretches on the bed, or maybe just normally stretches, Chloe is pretty sure that Lucy can make anything seductive.

Chloe is suddenly aware she doesn’t know what to do, sure she is rusty in terms of sleeping with women but Lucy won’t care, what’s bothering her is she has no idea what she can do without triggering something. Her own arousal caused discomfort last time though which seems to have passed but judging from the incident in the kitchen it wouldn’t take much.

“Don’t push yourself, darling, it’s alright if you are not ready. I want you to be able to enjoy yourself so don’t pressure yourself for my sake,” Lucy says somehow reading her mind.

“I want to,” Chloe says with conviction, “I just…” she trails off, what does she want? She wants her brain to stop being stupid is what she wants.

Lucy gives her an understanding nod, “baby steps, well then detective, what is it you desire?” She asks, breaking into her signature grin, she knows it won’t affect Chloe but regardless the question still stands.

Chloe takes a deep breath as her arousal returns and throws nervousness out the window. She knows her mojo doesn’t work on her but she tells her regardless. “I want to touch you,” She says faintly.

Lucy grins, “wait are you waiting for then?” Lucy asks as she unbuttons her top with ease.

Chloe was now understanding why her nude scene has been such a hit as she watches her girlfriend flop back onto the bed and kick off her trousers leaving her in only her panties.

Chloe scrambles after deciding to leave her clothes on for the moment, she knows she can make Lucy feel good without issue so she is gonna start there.

Chloe leans over Lucy to kiss her as she runs her hands up her sides. It’s such a different experience than before and yet it feels just as right. She has been on the receiving end of this countless times and now she can finally get her sweet revenge.

Her hands reach Lucy’s breasts and she caresses them. Chloe kisses her way down Lucy, past her neck before paying attention to her nipples. Chloe licks her areola tentatively causing a shiver in Lucy. She then takes one breast in her mouth while massaging the other gently, Lucy lets out a lazy moan as Chloe sucks.

Chloe releases her sensitive nipples with a pop and does the same to her other breast before moving down further kissing along her ribs and stomach. When she arrives at Lucy’s lace panties she rubs her clit gently through them causing Lucy to twitch slightly.

“Don’t be shy, introduce yourself,” Lucy teases, causing a chuckle from her lover. Chloe tears her eyes away from the dripping fabric to look at her. She slides her fingers under the straps of Lucy’s lingerie and with Lucy lifting her hips up she slides them off her.

Of course, even Lucy’s vagina is beautiful, though not artificially so. She can’t help but feel proud of herself, Lucy is soaked. She slides a finger through her folds and Lucy moves her hips in an attempt to get more friction.

Chloe pulls away and Lucy lets out an unhappy whine, as much as Chloe hates Lucy’s teasing when in her position she is right about delayed gratification and Chloe isn’t gonna pass up this opportunity.

Chloe licks a line over her slit and takes Lucy’s sharp breath. She can’t wait to hear all the delicious noises Lucy makes in this form. She inserts a finger slowly moving it in and out as she laps slowly at her clit.

Lucy reaches down and pulls at Chloe’s hair, encouraging her to pick up the pace. Chloe pulls her finger out and instead uses her tongue while thumbing her clit. Lucy lets out a moan and Chloe can feel her clench around her tongue.

Lucy’s legs are trembling slightly as she picks up the pace, drawing further sounds from her partner. “don’t stop darling,” Lucy pants as grinds into Chloe’s face. “Your tongue feels bloody divine inside m—-ah!” Lucy’s words are cut short as she climaxes, her entire body spasming as her legs clench around Chloe’s head and her wings snap open wrapping around them. Chloe keeps it up knowing full well how much she likes it when Lucy helps her ride out her orgasms.

“Good?” Chloe asks knowing full well the answer.

“Bloody Fantastic love, I’ve truly missed this and you clearly learned from the best,” she replies with a smile and a lazy look as she pulls her wings back but keeps them out.

Chloe laughs and moves over to kiss her, she rubs her thighs together for some relief and is suddenly aware that she is fully dressed. She very inelegantly shimmies out of her clothes but can sense Lucy watching her with desire in her eyes and her hand between her legs.

“Would you like me to return the favour?” she asks as Chloe slides onto the bed again. Chloe takes a breath and thinks about it, her body wants one thing and her subconscious wants another. “Yeah, I wanna try,” Chloe says, she is far too horny to sleep right now anyways and if Lucy can tire her out maybe she will sleep better.

Lucy slides down the bed and once situated between Chloe’s legs looks back at her, “I shall take things slow with no surprises, tell me if you want me to stop.”

Chloe nods for Lucy to begin, “I’m ready.” Lucy gently cups her pussy, and Chloe immediately tenses up. She forces herself to relax and reminds herself that she is safe, she focuses on her desire and arousal rather than her worries and that seems to help. “Keep going,” she says faintly with her eyes closed.

She feels a finger stroke her clit sending a jolt of pleasure through her as she does her best to associate Lucy with hands rather than what happened to her. She feels another hand make its way up her body to her breast while the other runs through her folds and settles back on her clit rubbing in slow circles. She finds it easier and easier to lose herself in the pleasure as her worries fade into the back of her mind.

“More” Chloe gasps as she grinds down on the hand between her legs and Lucy plays with a nipple. Chloe is too far gone to worry she just really needs to cum, it’s been far too long and Lucy having breasts now has not helped things.

The spell is immediately broken as she feels a finger begin to enter her and she pulls away, a twinge of panic coursing through her and Lucy regards her with concern. “I’m… I'm ok, I just don’t think I’m ready for penetration,” she sputters.

“Apologies I should—“

“No Lucy, I didn't even know. it’s fine, I’m fine. Now I’m just panicking as well as horny,” she says with a weak laugh.

“Would comforting devil wings help?” Lucy asks as she spreads her wings behind her.

Chloe chuckles, “it would definitely help the panicking part, you know how much I like your wings.”

“That I do love, and you looked divine all wrapped up in them,” Lucy says as she cocoons them together in her wings, “now to fix your second issue, remember when Daniel was sleeping with my mother?” Chloe had no issues falling asleep after that with her guardian devil keeping her nightmares at bay.

“Alright just follow my lead, you know how grieving family can be,” Chloe says as she straightens her extra sweater and then knocks on the door. An older white woman with greying hair and an apron answers the door.

“Hello Ms. Dabral, I'm detective decker this is my partner Mr-Ms. Morningstar,” she quickly correctly realizing this is the first time she has introduced Lucy professionally. “Can we come in? We have a few questions about Avery.”

Ms. Dabral leads them into the house and past a messy kitchen full of bread and cakes. “Sorry about the mess I've been trying to keep myself busy,” she says as she wipes her red eyes. Past the kitchen, they enter a living room with two other people in it.

“Thank you for taking some time to speak with us, we know it's a difficult time Ms. Dabral,” Chloe says as they sit down.

“Alice is fine, this is my husband Dave and my other child Alex.”

Chloe gives a nod, “when was the last time you saw Avery?”

“Two nights ago, she was going out to Alivion, I think it's called, some nightclub with her girlfriend,” Dave says and his family agrees.

“What's her girlfriend's name?” Chloe asks already certain she knows the answer.

“Lauren uh Morris,” Alex answers, “shit was she the other one woman that was found?” they ask as the realization occurs.

“Yes, unfortunately, considering the nature of the crime it seems as though they were targeted because they were together.”

“That fucking asshole,” Alex mutters to themself and Chloe gives them an expectant look.

“Lauren’s father,” Dave chimes in, “Jack Morris, let's just say he wasn't happy with who she chose to date.”

“That's putting it lightly,” Alex says, “he kicked her out when she was 16 because she was being sinful or whatever, real nut job. She’s been no contact with him for years but he always tracks her down every few months.”

“You think he could have done this?” Chloe asks.

“I have no idea but she was clearly scared of the guy.”

Chloe glances over at Lucy who has been oddly quiet until she realizes how close to home this hits for her. A powerful father casts a child out because they make their own choices.

“Do you know where this Morris fellow is?” Lucy asks with malice in her voice.

“We dont know, Lauren used to live in some apartment complex with him but that was years ago sunny day…something,” Alice says.

“Sunny Day Apartments?” Lucy asks with a grin, she is looking forward to this sods punishment,

Chapter 10: What Is Happening To Me?

Notes:

hello dear readers, we got some excitement today. Just want to warn you that there is blatant homophobia from a suspect who will get what's coming in this chapter, so warning for shitty homophobic fathers. besides that, we finally figure out what's going on with Chloe.

Enjoy!

Chapter Text

“Be there shortly,” Lucy says as she hangs up the phone.

“How do so many people owe you favours,” Chloe laughs as they drive towards Sunny Day Apartments, a truly unfitting name once they see the building.

“I have granted millions of favours over my existence, everybody and their uncle owe me,” Lucy says with a smile.

“I clearly choose the wrong career then,” she says.

“It's not all fun and games,” Lucy says a bit more solemn, “you would be surprised how often someone asks me to raise a loved one from the dead, and while that's something I can do assuming they are in hell, I won't do it. Malcolm was there for seconds and went mad, Abel didn't even know he was alive again.”

Chloe nods remembering that weird personal assistant that miraculously survived the explosion. “Then of course being the devil people ask me for all sorts of horrid things, the amount of people willing to have someone killed is horrendous.”

“Jees, I didn't really think about that part,” Chloe says as they pull into Sunny Day Apartments.

“Well of course it does come with its benefits like catching our murderer,” she says returning to her chipper self.

“Lucy I agree this guy sucks but we don't have any evidence suggesting it was him, we still gotta follow protocol to get justice for Avery.”

“Can I at least give him a little sneak peek?” Lucy asks mimicking Trixie's puppy eyes and damn they are effective.

“Let's see how this goes alright, I want to make sure things are done right for our victims. the last thing we need is the case to be thrown out because we didn't follow protocol..”

“Very well darling, I will play nice for now,” Lucy says as she steps out of the car.

“You must be Ms. Morningstar and Detective Decker,” a large middle eastern man says when he notices their approach.

“Hello, Amir, lovely to see you again, how is Hassan doing?” Lucy greets choosing to ignore his confused look.

“Really good, the treatment worked wonderfully and he’s been cancer free ever since, do thank… you,” Amir says as he comes up with an explanation.

Lucy shrugs, “I simply paid for his treatment, he is the one that had to do the work.”

Amir laughs, “It's good to see you again, you said you were looking for a Jack Morris? We do have a Jack Morris living in apartment 44, hes been here for 8 years now.”

“Did he ever have a daughter around?” Chloe asks.

Amir thinks about it, “yes I believe so, maybe six-ish years ago, apparently she went to live with her mother.”

“Ok thanks, do you have a key?” she asks then notices Lucy look, “right never mind thanks for your help.”

“Not only could I easily kick the door open but I can also simply open the locks, and she still asks for keys,” Lucy teases once out of earshot.

“Oh shut up,” Chloe laughs, “alright ready?” Cloe asks as they reach room 44.

“As much as I will ever be,” Lucy says doing her best to stay calm and collected.

“What do you want,” the man asks when he answers the door. Jack Morris is older than expected, he’s a large man with balding grey hair and smells of alcohol. Chloe can see Lucy’s grin out of the corner of her eye as Morris is wearing a clerical collar and priest attire that looks more than 10 years old. Besides Father Frank, Lucy hates priests and an old bigoted drunk one she will hate even more.

“Hello Jack,” Lucy says with a sneer as she pushes by him into his apartment, so much for playing nice.

“What are you doing?” he complains as Lucy looks around the apartment. The place is a mess, books cover every surface along with take-out dishes and beer bottles.

“I’m detective decker, this is my partner Ms. Morningstar, we tracked you down to inform you that yesterday morning we found the body of your daughter, Lauren Morris,” Chloe says awkwardly following Lucy into his apartment.

“Well make yourselves at home then,” he says irritated as he sits on the couch.

“When was the last time you spoke to your daughter, the two of you didn’t seem particularly close,” Chloe says curtly.

“We weren’t, she ran away a few years ago. As far as I know, she was staying with that Lauren girl.”

“We heard that you kicked her out,” Lucy says deadpan.

“I’m guessing you talked to the Dabrals, all they did was encourage her lifestyle,” he scoffs. “Look she chose to run away, I simply made it clear what was allowed under my roof.”

“You don’t seem particularly torn up about her death,” Chloe comments.

“I warned her that God would judge her and she didn’t listen. From then on whatever happened was on her, and now she is paying for her choices.”

“I can assure you she is not, she has gone somewhere you will never follow,” Lucy says with malice.

Chloe understands Lucy’s meaning, that Lauren isn’t in hell but Jack misunderstands and seals his fate.

He gives a disgusting smile, “I warned her it was a one-way trip to fire and brimstone.”

“Oh you misunderstand me, she is in my father's domain and I’m certain you will go to mine,” she sneers as she crosses her legs casually.

“Since when do the cops work with nut jobs,” he asks looking at Lucy with distaste.

“Oh, that’s a shame, not even a true believer and yet a priest. Tell me, Jack, what is it you truly desire more than anything else” Lucy says with an evil grin.

“I… I want Lauren to come with me to heaven,” he says, entranced by Lucy’s mojo.

“That’s incredibly bland even for a priest. I assure you she is already quite happy there with her girlfriend and somewhere you can’t ever bother her again.”

“What the hell did y— get out of my house,” he says as the trance fades.

“Actually we need you to come down to the station,” Chloe says with a mean smile, while she doubts this guy killed and raped his own daughter and her girlfriend he does fit the profile and dragging him to the station will make her feel slightly better.

“Get out of my house, I know my rights and you just barged in here,” he shouts as he stands up.

“I do believe you told us to make ourselves at home in this dump,” Lucy says cheerfully.

“Mr. Morris you are not under arrest we just need to interview you at the station,” Chloe says refusing to back away from him.

“I have nothing else to say about that dyke so get the hell out of my house!” he says as he steps forward and grabs Chloe’s arm.

Lucy pulls two knives from somewhere ready to respond however before she can Jack is thrown across the room crashing into the bookshelf before it topples onto him. Chloe can’t even breathe as she collapses to the floor in shock. She knew the first violent suspect they dealt with would be triggering for her and she should have been way more careful.

“Love, look at me,” Lucy asks as she kneels in front of her. “Take a slow breath through your nose, counting to four,” she instructs, remembering what she read online.

“Then hold your breath to the count of seven, good. Now Breathe out through your mouth counting to eight. Right now in again,” Lucy instructs as she leads Chloe through the breathing exercise a few more times.

“Thanks,” Chloe says as she unsteadily gets back to her feet, “and thanks for dealing with him even if it was a tab excessive,” she laughs.

Lucy gives her a confused look, “darling you threw him across the room before I could do anything.”

“What?” She says in disbelief

“Don’t get me wrong I was absolutely about to do the same but you simply shoved him so hard you sent him flying across the room.”

“But… I don’t even remember moving, I was overwhelmed with…”

“It’s alright, I’m sure he’s fine,” she says with a grin. “I’m more interested in your newly acquired super strength.”

“Maybe I’ve had it the whole time, this is the first time I’ve tried to push someone,” she replies.

“You punched me,” Lucy points out, “when you first woke up you punched me.”

“And no super strength,” Chloe finishes her sentence.

“Here,” Lucy says as she grabs a kitchen chair, “snap this,” she says with a grin.

Chloe picks up the chair and gives it a yank causing the wood to snap apart like a twig. “Holy fucking shit, what the hell is happening to me?” she breaths.

“I’m not sure love. Why don't you head back to the car, I will have a little chat with Jack about what happened and pay Amir for the damages.”

Chloe manages to keep herself together until she reaches the car before she simply sobs. Not only is her mind betraying her but now her body is changing in ways she can't control.

Sure super strength is cool but where does it end, what more is going to happen to her? Maybe the thumbtack really should have hurt her before, but why did it change? What the hell does her fever mean? She is already dealing with so much and now she has to deal with divine changes to her body she doesn’t want. Worst of all the one person she relies on for support is the person who caused whatever is going on— no that’s not fair. She knows how hard making choices in stressful circumstances and the choice Lucy made was to save her life. Plus if anyone in this universe can empathize with what she is dealing with it’s Lucy, her father can literally do whatever he wants and has been meddling with Lucy her whole life. Hell she only exists because god wanted her to be in Lucy’s life, Lucy knows the feeling of powerlessness better than anyone and they are going to get through this together.

It took some comforting on Lucy’s part to make Chloe feel better, it had only taken a few minutes to ensure that Jack would cooperate and get some unis to take him to the station while she comforted her partner.

“Lucy, what is happening to me?” Chloe says as she wipes away tears.

“I really don't know love, perhaps it's just residual divine energy that you somehow channelled at that moment,” Lucy says somberly.

Chloe shakes her head, “I snapped the chair and then well,” she says motioning to the steering wheel with a dent the shape of a hand on it. “The strength hasn't gone away, I still look 25 and I'm still cold whatever that means.”

Lucy nods, “I will try contacting Amenadiel, if anyone besides father knows what's going on he will. When he isn't being dad's greatest warrior he's a bit of an academic.”

“Ok,” she says weakly, “alright let's go interview Jack Morris.”

“Are you sure love, there is no reason we can't do that tomorrow.”

“You said he only got a few bruises and well we can't hold him for more than 24 hours so let's get this done so we can go home. Im sure it won't take long since you had a chat,” she says.

The drive back to the precinct is quiet as Chloe has a lot on her mind and Lucy is at a loss of how to comfort her besides being there for her partner. When they enter the interview room jack seems shaken but he isn't a blabbering mess on the floor so it seems Lucy was kind enough to keep his mind intact.

Jack refuses to look at either of them finding his hands incredibly interesting all of a sudden. “Why is she here?” he finally blurts looking at Lucy standing in the corner of the room like a cornered dog.

“She's a consultant with the LAPD,” Chloe explains.

“No, no you don't understand she's the devil,” he begins uttering a speech Chloe has heard many times before.

Chloe just rolls her eyes, “Mr. Morris, Lauren was found surrounded by bible verses and homophobic slurs, something that doesn't make our previous interaction look good for you. Do you have an alibi for two nights ago?”

“I was home as I am every night,” he mutters focusing back on his hands.

“Alone?”

“Alone.”

“Would you be willing to give a DNA sample?”

“Yes fine anything but make her stop looking at me like that,” he says looking at Lucy eyes wide with worry.

Chloe gives an inquisitive look towards Lucy who looks exactly how she normally looks. “Unfortunately Jack, I'm not doing anything your guilt and desire to be punished for something is simply being reflected on to you,” she says menacingly. “Tell me jack, why do you think you should be punished?”

“I don't, I followed gods word, my actions are justified,” he snaps.

“Oh we both know that's not true,” she says with a grin as her eyes briefly flash red and Jack goes pale.

“Mr. Morris why do you feel guilty,” Chloe asks using this opportunity to hopefully get answers.

“I…” he stutters turning to look at her as his face goes slack. Chloe can feel a strange magnetism pulling toward her. “I failed as a father,” he says with a familiar entranced expression.

Chloe pulls back and looks at Lucy to see a matching expression of shock and confusion, Jack seems oblivious as he continues talking, “I was so set in my ways that I made my own child hate me. I refused to try and get along because of my ego and now she's dead. Look we had our issues but I still loved her and… and now it's too late to make amends,” he babbles with his head in his hands.

Lucy breaks away to look back at him, “it's not too late to attempt Jack and I suggest you do or you will be seeing me a gain in a much less friendly situation,” she sneers before standing and pulling Chloe out of the room behind her.

“What…” Chloe finally gasps as she pulls herself from her shocked state.

“Let's go home love,” Lucy says with an unreadable expression.

“Let me see your back,” Lucy asks when they are back at Chloe’s apartment.

“Looking for wings again?” Chloe halfheartedly jokes but Lucy’s expression tells her that's exactly what she's doing. She takes off her shirt and throws it on the bed exposing her back to her partner, “we have already established that I'm definitely human,” she says more to reassure herself than anything else,” she says as she feels Lucy’s hands pressing into her back.

“The super strength and healing could be explained by my divinity, however, something occurred to me about your body temperature. Angels run hot love, way above human temperatures and humans feel cold when they have a fever because their body temperature is below what their brain is telling them it should be. On top of that, drawing out someone's guilt is not something you could have manifested from my divinity, angels abilities are unique to them and them alone. The final question is…”

Lucy’s fingers press into a point beside her shoulder blades and she feels something new. It feels like a mix between the best stretch she has ever had and the pain of her back exploding. She gasps for breath as the overwhelming feelings fade but don't need to ask what happened as she can feel two new limbs protruding from her back.

Chapter Text

Chloe stares over her shoulder in the mirror at her small baby blue wings. She would have simply assumed she was hallucinating if not for Lucy’s reaction and the fact she could feel them, it was truly indescribable. She looked like a normal-sized Cherub with tiny downy wings. She could move them though she had little control, it reminded her of when Trixie was a newborn slowly learning to control her body and it felt incredibly bizarre. She could feel every shift in the wind against her feathers or how her wing brushed against the doorframe when she sprinted to the bathroom.

She gently touches a wing and her whole body twitched, she knew Lucy’s wings were incredibly sensitive but holy shit. She tries to stretch them out with some success and can't help but chuckle at how derpy she looks, a human with tiny little wings… Fuck! She isn't human anymore, is she?! Lucy was saying that angels all have unique abilities and the wings pretty much confirm it. What the actual hell does this mean? Of course, the only person with answers isn't going to say anything.

She exits the bathroom as her mind starts to race, Lucy has been pacing around the room spinning a hell forged blade like she's seen Maze do countless times when worried. “What… what does this mean?” she asks and Lucy is pulled from wherever her mind was.

Lucy shakes her head and opens her mouth but doesn't speak. Finally, she stops pacing and sits on the bed, “I truly don't know love, there has never been an angel not of god before. One without a divine purpose or orders, it's never happened.”

Chloe sits on the bed beside her and neither of them speaks for a few minutes. “I will cut them off if you ask me to detective,” Lucy says with her jaw set refusing to look anywhere but the floor.

Chloe shivers at the thought causing her wings to flutter behind her, a reminder that they are absolutely part of her. “I can't I… I can feel everything, it would be like cutting off an arm.”

Lucy nods, “I didn't expect you to accept the offer, I just… that's what I did when my wings returned without my permission, I don't know what else to do. Even though I found out it wall all my doing anyways it didn't make me feel better, I didn't want them and yet I couldn't get rid of them.”

Chloe puts her head in her hands, “first my brain is reacting to things in a way it shouldn't making even the most normal things difficult and now my body is doing the same. I have no control over my body anymore Lucy, I feel like I'm just along for whatever ride of chaos your dad has planned for me.”

“I know the feeling, love, though I believe you called me paranoid,” Lucy says with a small smile.

Chloe snorts, “you are but you–we have a really good reason to be apparently. My body just feels wrong, I assumed it was just trauma from my assault but no I can just feel it. I'm not human any more am I?” she says with a shaky voice.

“It would seem that is no longer the case,” Lucy says trying to blink her tears away. Chloe inhales shakily before beginning to cry, it's only Wednesday, it's been almost a week and yet her life has changed drastically. Then something occurs to Chloe, perfect memory is an angelic trait, she will literally never be able to forget about what happened to her. She loses all control she was trying to hold onto, if she has a perfect memory and is potentially immortal she will be dealing with her assault for eternity, literal eternity, had she died and gone to hell? Fuck what about Trixie, if she was immortal now she would watch her daughter grow old and die, scratch that she would watch everyone she cares about grow old and die beside Lucy. She would witness California submerging below the sea and World War three, even humanity's extinction. It was all too much, it made sense why Cain wanted to die, she was going to be traumatized and alone forever. It was all just too much. Chloe had no idea how much of that she had even said out loud to Lucy, it was all just overwhelming.

Lucy pulled Chloe into her carefully to avoid touching her wings. She could guess what was affecting her the most, immortality is more of a curse than anything else. “Chloe. You won't be alone.”

“Forever,” she sobs, “I'm going to be dealing with this shit forever because that's how long I'm going to live now.”

“We will figure this out together, you will not be alone,” she says with certainty.

“Lucy eternity is unimaginably long, how can you know that?”

Lucy laughs weakly, “I obliterated my brother to keep you safe, I went to hell for you, I sent my mother to an alternate universe and killed my first human to protect you. I will be by your side for as long as you will have me, I would move heaven and earth for you, love and I mean that literally.”

“Why miss morningstar if I didn't know better I would say you just proposed to me,” Chloe teases resting her head on her partner's shoulders.

Lucy scoffs, “I absolutely refuse to get married under my father and being recognized by a state that we will now both outlive seem a tad redundant does it not?”

“Well when you put it that way,” Chloe laughs a smile finally returning to her face.

“May I?” Lucy asks motioning towards her wings and Chloe nods. She has pet Lucy (like a bird, exactly like a bird) countless times but it is like nothing she could have ever imagined. She lets out a moan that under almost any other circumstance would be incredibly embarrassing but she was far too lost in sensation to care.

“Just wait until they are fully grown love, so many things for me to teach you, assuming you want me around,” she adds quickly.

Chloe pulls herself from bliss, “why would I not want you around?”

Lucy looks at her incredulously, “I'm the one who bloody caused all of this, I'm honestly surprised you haven't shot me yet.”

“Lucy we have been over this, you didn't know this would happen. You made a choice that means I can spend more time with Trix, my friends and you. regardless of anything else, Trix got to see her mother again. You made the right choice.”

Lucy shakes her head, “it was still my divinity that caused this…”

“We don't know that, maybe it's just an unexpected reaction between my miracleness and your divinity or maybe this was your dad's plan all along. Point is, I don't care, blaming you wouldn't solve anything and would make my life significantly worse.

Lucy nods and they sit together snuggled up on the bed. Chloe finally breaks the silence, “you said my wings will grow?”

“Yes I imagine in a few days they will be fully grown and I would wager your flight feathers will be slightly darker. Blue-grey like your eyes.”

“Are you saying I'm going to look like a pigeon?” she laughs.

“Do you know what colour your eyes are?! What do you think pigeons look like?” Lucy says almost offended. “as if someone so beautiful could ever look like a sky rat.”

Chloe laughs, “holy shit it just occurred to me that I will be able to fly.”

Lucy smiles, “I don't think this is all bad, is it?”

“No I guess not, not being separated from you for eternity is a bonus even if I now live forever,” she says thoughtfully. “So… what do we do now? Are you going to contact Amenadiel?”

Lucy sighs, “I don't think that would be wise, I trust Amenadiel but I wouldn't want my other siblings finding out, I don't know what they would do.”

“You think they would come after me?” Chloe asks, how is she supposed to keep Trix safe if she has literal angels after her?

“They don't understand humanity as we do, they may simply escort you to heaven and put you in a waiting room for centuries. I don't think they would all attempt to destroy you but I have thousands of siblings and I'm certain some would. I think for now it would be best to avoid my siblings as well as the silver city, you already have enough on your plate and we don't need more celestial shenanigans. You are very much still Chloe Decker the detective love, I see no reason why all that must come to an end now.”

She nods shakily, normal, she needs normal right now. This is a better alternative than having some weird STD though now she will never be sick again holy shit, this is gonna take a lot of adjustment. “Wait, if I'm now invulnerable why did the thumbtack make me bleed?”

Lucy's eyes light up with an idea and rummage around the bedside table drawer to find the thumbtack before handing it to Chloe. “Right love count to 10 then try again,” she instructs before vanishing in a blur of feathers.

Chloe is confused but does as asked, after counting to 10 she presses the tack to her thumb… nothing. She presses a bit harder, but still nothing. No blood, no puncture, no pain just some pressure. Intrigued she gently stabs her arm enough that should definitely injure her and yet nothing. She tries once more and feels a twinge of pain as she hears the flutter of feathers.

“Ow,” Chloe complains as she wipes some of the blood away, she looks up at Lucy who was a big smile. “It appears I make you vulnerable detective,” she says.

“I always feel underdressed around you,” Chloe laughs as she watches Lucy toss her keys to the valet who is too distracted to catch them and promptly hit in the head. Lucy is wearing a black dress with a thin golden chain belt, the dress has a gap on one side giving a bit of side boob before continuing into the dress-only sleeve. It's short leaving little to the imagination, just how Lucy likes it, but still elegant.

“Nonsense love,” Lucy says saddling up beside and taking her arm as they enter the restaurant “you look utterly divin—” she begins quickly cutting herself off realizing what she was going to say.

“I suppose it's an accurate compliment now,” Chloe says with a small smile, after initially coming to terms with what was happening she was ok… It had taken a few minutes for Lucy to teach her how to put her wings away, the way Lucy’s wings could vanish was incredibly bizarre but it was so much weirder with her own. She could still feel them though where they were she had no idea, Lucy had said something about interdimensional wing pouches but that didn't really clear things up. It had surprised her however how uncomfortable it was and she longed to stretch them out.

She had found herself surprisingly on board when Lucy suggested they go out for dinner, it would keep her mind off of all the celestial craziness and help her get used to people again. Lucy had picked a sushi place she was quite fond of and Chloe had put on her sparkly silver dress she knew Lucy liked.

Apparently, the sight of two celestial beings was too much for everyone as when they entered the restaurant everyone turned to look at them and Chloe wanted nothing more than to hide under one of the tables. Apparently whatever drew people to Lucy was now something she was going to have to deal with and now was not a good time for that.

They were escorted to a booth in the corner that offered some privacy. Lucy was looking at her with some concern having noticed her reaction. “I'm alright, I guess there just… a lot of new things for me to get used to. I just wanna get drunk and have a normal night like a regular human.”

Lucy bit her tongue, “I can't get drunk can I?” Chloe said with a sigh.

“Not without a lot of effort,” Lucy says with a sad smile.

Dinner slowly became more regular, Chloe indeed couldn't get drunk and barely felt the burn of any alcohol she consumed even in Lucy’s presence but besides that it was lovely. They talked about regular things, how Trixie was doing in school, world events and the logistics of her moving into Lux.

Their dinner was interrupted by a phone call, if it wasn't dispatch Chloe would have ignored it. “We got two new bodies, same MO,” Chloe says as she hangs up.”

“So much for the Ika rolls,” Lucy says as she shoves her last piece of sushi in her mouth and looks longingly towards the kitchen. “Interrupting Sushi, how much more heinous could our murderer be?”

Chapter 12: Damning The Devil To Hell

Notes:

bit of casework and angst in this chapter, who knew adjusting to being an angel could be so complicated?

Chapter Text

They arrived at the scene still dressed up from dinner much to Lucy’s amusement. As per the restaurant, eyes lingered on Chloe more than they used to and she knew it wasn't just because of her outfit. Normally she would have simply ignored the attention but now she couldn't blame it on the movie anymore.

Dan and Ella were already inside the house when they arrived and though Dan was still sheepishly eyeing Lucy with carnal fascination they both reacted to Chloe the same way they had yesterday. Not open-mouth gawking or spontaneous praying so that was a start.

“Damn,” Ella says with a grin when she sees them approach, “you two… damn you look good.”

“Damning the devil to hell, Miss Lopez? You wouldn't be the first to try,” Lucy says with a grin. Chloe stifles a snort, “murder scene remember? The mood turns sombre as they enter the kitchen.

The victims are two men but everything else remains the same, stab to the neck, missing clothing and notes on black paper. “Larry and lee Robertston,” Ella says, “they both lived here together.”

“Fuck,” Chloe breathes, “four victims in two days makes this a spree killer.” Chloe was handling herself better than before but it was still gruesome to look at. “Time of death?”

“Between 11 and 3 last night, their friend Amy Medina found them, apparently she was supposed to meet them here for brunch but they never showed, she assumed they were just tired after going out last night but eventually she got worried and came to check,” Ella says.

“Did she know where they might have gone last night?” Lucy asks.

“Uhh.. yea, it was– oh”

“What is it Ella?” she prods.

“Um they went to uh Lux,” Ella says awkwardly and Lucy visibly bristles.

“Excuse me I have to make a phone call,” Lucy says as she rushes out of the room.

“What was that about?” Chloe asks five minutes later when she returns.

“I was telling Patrick to increase security, it is my responsibility to ensure the safety of my patrons after all.”

”Lucy this isn't your fault,” Chloe begins but Lucy holds up a hand.

“I know,” she says and Chloe breathes a sigh of relief, the last thing Lucy needed was to blame herself for more things. “Still I would like to ensure everyone's safety as much as possible.”

“Ok,”

“I…I know you don't need protection but I think I would sleep much better knowing that you and Beatrice were at the penthouse. I do quite enjoy your apartment but it's not quite as secure as the penthouse.”

Chloe smiles, ‘are you asking for us to move in sooner?”

“Well, I… um yes, I suppose I am,” she replies nervously.

“I would love to and I'm sure Trix would too,” Chloe says with a shy smile. “I know I'm apparently invulnerable now or whatever but Trix isn't and at least we can all be safe together that way.” Lucy smiles and Chloe leans forward to kiss her, moving to the penthouse earlier would help with nerves about this case and part of her also couldn't wait to move in.

“Lucy stop flashing Dan!” Chloe complains while trying to fill out paperwork, she knew it was a mistake not forcing Lucy to change before they returned to the precinct.

“Whatever do you mean?” Lucy says looking the pinnacle of innocence.

Chloe rolls her eyes, “I'm not blind and if you keep that up you may actually kill him.”

Lucy looks penseful, “yes I suppose so, any less blood flow to the brain and he may pass out.”

Chloe just shakes her head and tries to hide her smile, things were feeling normal again. No insane celestial shenanigans or freakouts this evening. The only things reminding her that things were not actually normal were the fact she wasn't tired at all and the unmistakable ache of her wings folded away. At least he no longer felt cold because her internal temperature had adjusted to be superhuman. “Cmon, let's go home. I may not feel tired but I want to sleep regardless,” she says as she gets up.

Chloe can't sleep, her wings are uncomfortable and it certainly explains why Lucy rarely sleeps with her wings furled. Eventually, Chloe unfurls her wings desperately wanting to stretch them and though it does bring relief it's a constant reminder of the humanity she lost. So she lies in bed staring at the ceiling and trying not to think about how she can see almost perfectly in the dark now. She is starting to convince herself that not sleeping might simply be a better option, a bunch of fuel had been added to her potential nightmares and part of her simply wanted to never sleep again. Reliving her assault was one thing but she dreaded the possible psychological torture her dreams could now bring. Simply thinking about the fact she would watch almost everyone she knew grow old and die made her feel sick enough. Then, of course, there were the regular anxieties, they would have to tell people at some point especially Maze and Trixie, and on top of that, they still had a killer on the loose.

It was all just too much in such a short span of time and she had no idea what to do. Coping with a traumatic incident was one thing but her transformation was something that had never happened before. She could barely handle what was going on let alone open up to anyone else, she doubted even Linda could help in this situation. The only person who could help was Lucy and yet she still felt like she was drowning. Her wings fluttered beneath her, pinned against the bed, everything was just so wrong, so so so wrong. Her mind, her body it was all wrong and she didn't know what to do. If it wasn't for the case she could gladly let Lucy whisk her and Trixie away for a vacation but because of what was going on she couldn't focus clearly on the case. It felt like a hell loop.

Chloe manages to drift in and out of sleep, it was restless but it satisfied her new celestial nature. She almost felt relaxed now with Lucy snuggled up with her and the incredible sheets of the penthouse, almost. She slipped out of bed to go start her morning routine and had to do a double take when she looked in the mirror. Her wings were a little more than a foot larger than the day before, Lucy said they would grow but she hadn't expected it to be so fast.

Suddenly something shifted and everything was too loud, too bright, too much. She could hear everything around them from the waves of the ocean and the early morning traffic to someone shouting at Zack on the phone. All her senses were overloaded and she began to panic. She didn't even make it to her morning routine as Lucy found her crying on the bathroom floor, overwhelmed by the entire world.

Lucy didn’t sleep at all so she did what she always did when she couldn't find sleep, she listened to the sounds of the city. She knew Chloe was restless but since her sympathies were brushed off she simply respected her partner's wishes. She had decided to not wake Chloe when she did briefly find sleep, she was clearly having unpleasant dreams but she needed rest.

Chloe was handling everything far better than she had expected, hell part of her was still waiting for Chloe to reject her for being the devil and yet they were still partners after everything was going on. Yet she was still worried, they had dealt with Chloe’s miraculous origin but this was different, this was a direct action by his father but for what purpose? Maybe Chloe was right, maybe it was entirely Lucy’s fault though that put a sour taste in her mouth, it seemed as though either God was manipulating them or Lucy had just ruined her chances at a normal life. She didn’t like either option.

She didn't move when Chloe slid out from under her and got out of bed. She was beginning to believe she wasn't poison to those around her but it was a slow process and it was always two steps forward and one back. Lucy didn't need Chloe to blame her for what was happening she already blamed herself. She was pulled from her self-deprecating thoughts when she heard a sob from the bathroom, it hurt to see Chloe in pain and no matter the situation it awoke the urge to comfort her. Lucy slipped out of bed fully nude as always, unlike Chloe who almost always wore something to bed, worry ran through her when she heard a thud from the bathroom and with a flick of her wings she was beside her partner.

Chloe was curled up on the bathroom tile with her eyes closed, hands over her ears and her wings twitching. She knelt beside her avoiding her twitching downy wings, “what's the matter love?”

Chloe flinched at her words, “it’s… it's too much,” she whimpered. Chloe felt like she was on fire, she could barely breathe over the smell of bathroom soap, everything was too bright and colourful even with her eyes closed and it felt as though she could hear the entire city. Somehow her minor breakdown had awakened her angelic senses and it was unbearable.

Lucy was familiar enough with sensory overloads to recognize what was going on. “I’m going to carry you somewhere quiet and calm,” she whispered quietly enough that without her new celestial hearing Chloe wouldn’t have heard it.

Chloe nods and Lucy gently picks her up and carries her to the study. She sets her down on the couch and closes the blackout blinds. It was dark and quiet thanks to the extra soundproofing in the walls. “Thanks,” Chloe mumbles as she gets used to the environment. She could still hear the city but it was muffled now. She slowly opens her eyes and finds herself on Lucy’s lap, Lucy’s very naked lap. She blushes now distracted from the fact she has almost perfect night vision by what her night vision now allows her to see clearly.

“I told you next time I would put my breasts in your face and it seems to have worked,” Lucy teases as she runs her fingers through Chloe’s hair.

“Oh shut up,” Chloe says trying to hide her smile.

Lucy laughs, “how are you feeling love?”

“Like the entire city is screaming in my ear but… it's quieter in here.”

“It will be alright darling, you will adjust to your heightened senses soon. You may however have more difficulty with the new ones,” Lucy says thoughtfully.

“New senses?” Chloe yelps.

“Yes… I… I can't explain it in human tongues but we call it a’om,” Lucy says.

The word resonates within her in a way the angelic tongue has never done before now. She doesn't have any conscious understanding of the language and yet the meaning behind the word comes across. The closest human word would be clairvoyance but that's still inaccurate, a’om she repeats now able to create the needed sounds to pronounce the word.

Lucy, still fully nude, looks at her with awe. Chloe doesn't know how to react, she is exhausted even if it's only emotionally. This transformation goes far beyond physical and everything is a constant reminder of it. A small of her is excited about her transformation and all the abilities that come with it, most of all having eternity with Lucy but a much larger part of her worries. What does god have planned for her, what will she be expected to do, how will Lucy’s siblings react, and how will she cope with watching her loved ones pass? Every moment without Trixie feels like a waste of time, she feels like the world around her is slipping through her fingers and she can't hold on tighter because her brain rejects touch. Lucy is the only stable thing she has, the only thing that won't vanish far too soon. Tears well up in her eyes and she lets them come, she has no reason to put on a brave face after all they can be vulnerable with each other.

“I'm sorry,” Lucy says weakly, leaning forward to kiss her on the forehead. Lucy’s ability to predict what she is thinking now makes more sense with the knowledge of a’om. Chloe straddles her legs and holds onto her as she relaxes into her breasts, she will never admit aloud that it does maybe possibly help a little tiny bit. “ol boaluahe g” Lucy whispers in her ear and Chloe feels a sense of peace, adoration and devotion wash over her. At least she will never be alone with the devil by her side.

Chapter 13: They Are A Part Of Me

Notes:

Hello dear readers, today I bring you some more smut along with some lovely clear communication.

More coming soon, Enjoy!

Chapter Text

Chloe wakes unsure of the time, she is slumped over Lucy on the couch in her study. The blackout curtains are still closed so it's still dark, or well as dark as it can be when pitch black comes across as dimly lit. Lucy is still asleep and Chloe isn't in any rush to move either, she can still hear the city but it's not overwhelming like previously, it's now manageable though still louder than before.

Checking her phone she is horrified to see it's 1 pm on a Thursday, the lieutenant is going to kill her, not that she could anymore she chuckles to herself. She is surprised to not see any missed calls or anything from work besides a few get-well messages from Ella and Dan, seems her thoughtful devil called in sick for her.

She tosses her phone on the couch beside her and rests against Lucy’s neck again. She should be working, four people are dead and she is snuggling with her naked girlfriend. Lucy was right, she does need a vacation especially now but she can't leave in the middle of a case and she would have to figure out how to bring Trix along. She had notified families enough to know that parents should never bury their children, this isn't wasn't something that worried her too often but now that it was something she would experience she didn't want to spend a second away from her child. She was glad that Dan was dropping her off tomorrow to help pack, he was surprisingly on board but after Charlotte, he knew how important it was to keep loved ones close.

The other issue was the case, even with four bodies they were at a dead end. They had DNA on file with no matches, nothing about the notes was unique enough to be of any use so unless Ella found something or there were more bodies they were stuck for now. It was also getting to her, there was a connection to Lux and gay couples being killed. She thought she would feel safer at her home away from Lux but considering Lux had a security system and team it was a lot safer than her apartment.

“Stop that love,” Lucy mumbles.

“hmm?” Chloe asks.

“Thinking” Lucy replies as she opens her eyes.

Chloe can't help but chuckle, “there's just… so much going on and I'm… worried.”

Lucy shifts so she can look at her partner and caresses her face. “Do you want to talk about it?”

Chloe smiles and leans into her, “you were right, I need to take a vacation when this case is done, you, me and Trix. I feel like my time with her is wasting away now and after what happened with Malcolm I'm worried about our and her safety.”

“We will keep her safe and if anything you now have a lot more time with Beatrice.”

Chloe nods unconvinced, “I know but… if I live forever now then the next century I have with her will be a blink of an eye, looking back it will feel so short.”

Lucy pulls her into a hug, “Chloe, angels can't forget and I know that makes your recovery much more difficult but it also means you will always remember Beatrice, every moment with her. And well, even after her time on earth is done she will be in the silver city and once you can fly and we deal with my siblings you can visit whenever you wish.”

“What about you? You won't be able to see her again?” Chloe asks.

“I am exiled and I haven't attempted to return but seeing her and the rest of our friends will be the reason I do so. I was already planning on storming the gates when you were mortal,” Lucy laughs uncomfortably.

Chloe nods, “I just… wish I knew why this was happening.”

“I think your assumption was correct, for once I don't think my father had anything to do with this. He has been punishing me for eons and no matter what happens you are far too good to be part of that.”

Chloe leans forward and kisses her. “ol boaluahe g” she says, she may not speak the language of the angels but she knows its meaning and the feelings it invokes nonetheless. Lucy returns the kiss passionately, things quickly becoming heated. Chloe moans into the kiss and tries to find some friction with Lucy’s very naked thigh.

“Please touch them,” Chloe whines as she unfurls her small pale blue wings. Lucy obliges slowly combing through her feathers sending a jolt of pleasure through her. Fuck her wings are so sensitive. She rolls her hips as she feels the heat radiating off the both of them. “Yours please,” she murmurs as Lucy runs her hands over her body.

Lucy hums in approval as her wings snap into existence and gently curl around them. Chloe follows some new instinct deep within her and presses her wings to Lucy’s causing them both to let out a groan of pleasure. “I'm having wing sex with my girlfriend who is satan herself,” Chloe laughs to herself as Lucy slides her hands under her shirt.

Chloe has more control over her wings than she did before and she can tell her feathers will soon emerge through the fluffy down, it's only a matter of time. Their wings continue to dance together, a sensation Chloe could have never imagined and yet it feels well… divine.

She pants as she bites Lucy’s lip and rolls her hips more fervently, she can already feel the pressure building even in her wings. Lucy lets go of her waist and sinks her fingers in her wings causing a cry from Chloe as she nibbles on her neck. “Cum for me Chloe,” Lucy whispers in her ear as she nibbles her earlobe and Chloe can't help but obey. Her legs clench around Lucy, and her wings flutter wildly as she falls over the edge, yet still finding enough motor control to ride through her orgasm. Chloe slumps against Lucy in a pleasurable daze somehow having just had an incredible orgasm yet also fully dressed compared to her naked partner.

“Feeling more relaxed?” Lucy asks with a grin.

“Yea, definitely,” Chloe says breathlessly as she gently strokes Lucy’s wing. “I didn't know wings could be so… incredible.”

“You don't hate them?” Lucy asks intrigued.

She shakes her head, “no I… I hate what this means in the grand scheme of things but the wings themselves… feel right. They are a part of me even if some aspects suck. Yea I didn't ask for the change and it does feel different but I don't know… part of me is happy about all this.” She does her best to explain but she doesn't even really understand herself beside the fact that angelic qualities are simply a part of her now and she is ok with that.

“I'm scared that one day your dad is going to give me some task I have no choice but to follow or be targeted because I exist. I dread losing Trixie and having to leave this life I've built for myself behind. But I don't hate the wings themselves, if anything they remind me that you saved me and I feel like I'm carrying a part of you now, something we can now share.”

Lucy nods slowly, instinctively shifting to try and find some friction herself. She has been dealing with Chloe on her naked body for hours and is incredibly turned on herself.

“Oh you poor thing,” Chloe says trying to be seductive and stifle a laugh before leaning forward to kiss her.

Lucy’s wings flutter lightly at the contact and she hums in enjoyment as Chloe reaches between her legs. To her surprise, however, Lucy gently pushes her away and stands from the couch before walking over to a banner and opening the drawer. Lucy turns around holding a strap-on harness, a purple dildo, a bottle of lube and a grin on her face.

“Lucy, I still don’t think I’m ready for penetration. It’s not that I don’t want to, it's just—“ Chloe begins.

“You misunderstand love, the thought of you buried within me sounds truly divine. I even chose one that only provided outside stimulation,” she says in her seductive tone.

“Oh… you want…”

“I want you to fuck me,” she replies without a hint of modesty.

Chloe feels a jolt of arousal go through her, they had done this before but for some reason, she hadn’t expected this. She steps forward and takes the strap from her hand hoping she doesn’t notice the slight tremor. “You have been a very good devil,” she coos. Seduction is not Chloe's specialty but she makes it work.

“How do you want me?” Lucy asks at her sudden thoughtful expression.

“Hmmm, bed.” Chloe leads her through the penthouse kicking off her pyjamas on the way to give the devil a show. She wiggles into the harness as Lucy flops back into bed and squirts some lube into her hands.

Chloe climbs onto the bed, the toy bouncing around comically and she can’t hold back a small laugh. Lucy smiles and runs her hands over the toy, getting it appropriately slick. Chloe begins to lower herself down between Lucy’s legs but is stopped.

“Darling I have been incredibly aroused for hours, I am more than ready,” Lucy pleads.

Chloe nods and kisses her, she likes how unashamed Lucy is about her sexuality, it’s something she has always been a tad jealous of but it’s also incredibly attractive.

Lucy spreads her legs and makes a come hither motion and she is happy to oblige. Chloe slides the toy through her folds and hums at the friction on her clit.

She lets out a yelp as Lucy pulls her closer with her wings to kiss her and position the toy. Lucy lets out a pleased sigh as she pushes into her slowly. She nibbles on her shoulder as she rolls her hips and Lucy groans. Chloe’s wings flutter in response and she briefly wonders if this is what dogs feel like when they get excited and wag their tails. She’s desperate for their wings to touch again but her wings are too small to reach in this position.

Lucy must be feeling the same as her wings wrap around Chloe pushing her deeper while her hands play with her breasts.

“See not all bad,” Chloe whispers breathlessly as their wings tangle together.

“Yes, I—Ah—suppose they have their uses,” she replies before flipping them over with her wings.

Lucy grinds down on the toy and Chloe lets out a gasp before leaning up and biting a nipple. Lucy’s thighs begin to tremble and for a moment Chloe wishes she could feel her muscles clenching before remembering that angelic self-actualization was a thing. She wasn’t entirely opposed to the idea but this century was definitely not the time.

Chloe picks up the pace and thumbs Lucy’s clit, she may not have a ton of practice from this end but she knows what feels good. Lucy slumps against her shoulder as her legs give out and her wings twitch, knocking over the bedside lamp with a crash though neither of them pays it any mind. Lucy sees stars brighter than the ones she made as her orgasm washes over her and she whimpers pleased into her partner's ear.

They both sit there breathing heavily not in a rush to move from the position they are in. Eventually, Lucy rolls off her immediately feeling rather empty but satisfied.

“How was that love?” Lucy asks with a little more concern than usual.

“Divine,” Chloe replied with a chuckle. It will be a delightful afternoon and Lucy has some orgasms to repay.

Friday felt like it was taking forever and the new victims' families of Larry and Lee had been equally unhelpful. On the bright side, there had been no new victims Thursday or today so far. They had checked Lux’s security footage and had gotten a glimpse of someone in a dark hoodie following Larry and Lee out of the club but it hadn't been detailed enough to prove particularly useful. They had spent most of the day doing paperwork while waiting for the warrant for Alivion’s security footage and both of them were ready to get home. Chloe felt bad about how this case was going, personal issues were getting in the way of her working at 100%.

She had been incredibly distracted today thinking about Trixie, she and Lucy were picking her up from school so they could pack this weekend but Chloe was terrified about how her daughter would react to her wings. Trixie had no reason to react poorly and she had always believed and been fine with Lucy but she was scared nonetheless. Lucy’s unwillingness to prove who she was was making a lot more sense to her.

“It's all going to be alright, Beatrice is smart and she cares about you more than anything else,” Lucy says trying to calm her nerves on the way to the school.

“Lucy I just don't even know if I'm the same person,” she sighs.

“Of course, you are the same person, how could you not be?”

“I almost instinctively punched Larry’s father because he brushed my arm but now I'm strong enough that doing that would have killed him. My brain reacts to things completely differently and everything that made my body mine is gone. How can I be the same Chloe Decker and Trixie’s mom?”

Lucy looks over at her before her skin reddens shifting into her devil form, “am I the same person now?”

Chloe sighs, “yes obviously you are Lucy, no matter what face you wear.” Chloe was quite used to Lucy’s devil face now, it was also secretly on the list of kinks I didn't know I had before I fell in love with the devil.

“Chloe your soul is the same, your consciousness is the same. Our physical forms do not make us who we are and the way we behave is a product of our experiences. You are the same Chloe decker I've known for the last three years.”

“But I'm still different and what if Trixie hates that?”

“Darling her reaction to my wings was a loud “cool,” I'm sure she will be much more excited with yours. She was understanding after the hospital and I know she will be now as well. Perhaps now she will stop pestering me to take her flying now that you will be able to do the same,” she says with a sincere smile.

“Your right, out of everyone in our lives Trixie is the most likely to be fine with it. Linda is gonna have her mind blown and I have no idea how Maze will react. Dan and Ella will be, I don't even know where to begin.”

“As you said love, baby steps,” Lucy says squeezing her hand comfortingly. “First let's get the urchin fed then we can tell our daughter that you are now an angel.”

Chloe smiles and feels a sense of warmth at “our daughter,” she is pretty sure if her wings were not uncomfortably furled away then they would be fluttering in joy. “Alright babe, let's do this.”

Chapter 14: She Prayed To You

Notes:

Welcome back dear readers, today is moving day along with some much-needed conversations.

Also, Maze still calls Lucy Lucifer because she has known Lucy through many transformations and that's her full name.

Enjoy!

Chapter Text

“Mommies!” Trixie squeals when she spots them outside of school.

“Hey baby, how was school?” Chloe asks as she embraces her daughter.

“Fine,” Trixie says without interest before hugging Lucy as well which is reciprocated. “How come daddy isn't picking me up?”

“As your mother has refused to let me hire a moving crew, we have to pack ourselves,” Lucy says.

“We are moving today?” Trixie bounces on the spot unable to contain her enthusiasm.

“This weekend,” Chloe corrects, “and we have some things to talk about,” she adds her nerves returning.

Trixie eyes them suspiciously before climbing into the car. The drive is unusually quiet but Chloe is happy for a moment to think. How will the conversation go, should she simply unfurl her wings or would it be better to tell her first? The latter is better for Trixie so that's what she is going with even if it drags the process out a bit.

“Are you ok mommy?” Trixie asks once they finally get back to the apartment.

Lucy glances at Chloe before answering, “she is unharmed child.” Chloe sits on the couch and motions for the other to join her. There is no reason to draw this out longer than need be, for everyone's sake.

“Monkey babe, do you remember how we told you that Lucy healed me and there were some unintended consequences?” Trixie nods looking concerned.

“I…” she begins but can't find the words.

Lucy wraps her arm around her and takes the lead. “Your mother is dealing with a transformation of sorts, she is no longer human, child.”

“What?” Trixie replies looking upset and worried and everything else Chloe was hoping to avoid.

“I'm… I'm an angel, monkey” Chloe says after a deep breath before leaning forward and unfurling her wings. They had grown substantially since the day before but still kept their downy sky blue feathers, Lucy has guessed it would take a bit for her flight feathers to grow in.

Trixie stares at her mom with a wide-eyed expression that would have been laughable in any other situation. “They are beautiful, mommy,” Trixie whispers.

“Are you alright Beatrice?” Lucy asks.

“Why don't they glow like Lucy’s?”

“I am the Lightbringer child, my wings create light.”

Trixie daintily scoots forward to climb onto Chloe’s lap, “I don't want you to go,” Trixie cries as she holds onto her mother.

“Where would I be going?” Chloe asks rubbing a hand over her daughter's back.

“Heaven.”

“Beatrice your mother is under no obligation to go to the silver city, especially during your lifetime. I will do all I can to ensure she can make her own choices.”

“I'm not going anywhere baby, nothing will change for a long time and I'm bulletproof when Lucy isn't around so you don't have to worry about me as much,” Chloe says with a forced smile.

“Will you and Lucy come to visit me after I die,” Tirixe asks and Chloe is taken aback.

“Of course, I will monkey, but you don't have to worry about that for a long time.”

Trixie nods before turning to Lucy, “will you come too?”

Lucy gives a pained smile, “I am not welcome there and I have not attempted to return since my fall however you have my word I shall try. I never had a reason to try before my life here.”

Trixie sniffs before hugging Lucy too, “ok, what are we having for dinner?”

The evening shifted into normalcy besides Trixie’s occasional questions about her new “superpowers.” Trixie seems delighted by the situation and had been worried about what this meant not the transformation itself, the same anxiety Chloe had. She had let Tirixe gently touch a wing and Trixie had wished that she could have wings too, something Chloe still wasn't sure how she was feeling about. She had laughed off the comment but was secretly glad her daughter could have a normal human life. As much as it would be difficult for her, she always prioritized what was best for her daughter. Trixie had fallen asleep snuggled up on the couch between her two moms and their cozy wings before Lucy tucked her in. Chloe fell asleep, wings intertwined with Lucy’s and for once in a long time, she slept without nightmares.

The next day after a delicious breakfast courtesy of Lucy they got to work packing. Chloe found a new use for her angelic strength now easily able to carry furniture around. It was a morning of domestic bliss without too much thought of current events.

“So why are we moving today?” Trixie asks as they break for lunch.

Chloe and Lucy exchange a look, unsure of how much they want to reveal about their case. “Well monkey, our current case is… dangerous and Lucy and I would feel better knowing we were safely stashed away at the penthouse.”

“Am I in danger again?” Trixie says looking worried. She still dreamt about what happened with Malcolm so Chloe was hesitant to say too much.

“It's a possibility child, that's why you are moving this weekend. I understand this is troublesome but you now have two angels to defend you and as I taught you you can always pray to me if need be.”

Chloe perked up at that, Lucy had mentioned that she could hear prayers but it had never really occurred to her to try and she certainly wasn't aware that Lucy had taught Trixie how. “Thank you,” Cloe says looking at her with sincerity.

Lucy looks slightly embarrassed, “it's nothing really, the same goes for you, love. Simply pray the word and I will be by your side.”

Chloe has a flash of frustration that she didn't think to pray at the warehouse but she had been in and out of consciousness. Still, it was her job to deal with dangerous situations and it could have been so easily resolved if she had thought of that.

Chloe is pulled out of her train of thought by a strange tingling sensation in her furled wings that spread to the back of her head before hearing a voice, “Hi mommy, can you hear me?” Chloe drops her mug and it shatters on the floor, Trixie has her head bowed with her hands in prayer.

Trixie looks up with a smile that quickly fades when she notices her expression. “I'm ok baby, I just wasn't…fu–udge,” Chloe quickly reassures.

“She prayed to you,” Lucy says in wonder and all she can do is nod. “Beatrice could you give us a moment, I think perhaps that was more than she was ready for.”

“I'm sorry mommy,” Trixie says hugging her before scampering to her room.

“What the fuck,” Chloe whines with her head in her hands as they sit together on the couch. “Arg why are they so itchy,” she complains as she furls her wings into existence, they will be fully grown in a few days now.

Lucy gently combs through her feathers and she relaxes under her touch, “your pin feathers are growing in. Moulting tends to be somewhat unpleasant as they become quite sensitive and not in a good way.”

“I can feel them growing, anyways how does this whole prayer thing work, will anyone praying to Chloe be directed to me?”

“Not exactly darling, you must have some kind of connection for an angel to hear your prayer, the stronger the connection the louder and clearer the prayer is. The name is unimportant, it is the tie between you that allows the prayer to be heard. As long as Beatrice was thinking of you then you would hear her, I can't imagine there are any stronger bonds.”

Chloe nods trying to stomp down any sorrow, “can… pray to me?”

Lucy looks at her for a moment before nodding and closing her eyes. “Hello love,” Chloe hears after the same tingling sensation. She closes her eyes and prays back, “hey babe.”

Lucy opens her eyes with a smile, “detective, think of all the naughty things we could do with this ability.”

Chloe turns a little red, “ahem so uh, we have a few more boxes to go.” Lucy just grins at her and dutifully gets back to work. Oh, the possibilities indeed.

“That’s everything,” Trixie chirps as they pack the final boxes into the moving van.

“Yes Urchin, are you excited to be moving to Lux? I know this is all quite sudden,” Lucy asks.

“Yeah, I like this place but the penthouse is way cooler. I can go swimming every day now!”

Lucy smiles, “technically it’s a hot tub but yes.”

Chloe walks outside and Lucy catches her eye, she looks worried. “Is everything alright detective?”

“Yea I’m fine,” Chloe says, pulling herself away from whatever she is thinking about.

Chloe is quieter than normal on the drive over to Lux but she didn’t want to talk about it and Lucy found that unusual. They made a priority of not keeping secrets between them, Lucy wasn’t upset but simply concerned. she has thought that after the reveal with Trixie she would relax but there seemed to be something else bothering her as well.

She was still quiet as they unloaded things into Lux, Trixie seemed unaware of the tension and went about her 10-year-old ramblings.

“Darling please talk to me,” Lucy requests as they watch Trixie splash around in the pool, they unloaded the basics but most of their stuff is still packed. Lucy already had a lot of furniture so moving was a lot easier than it would normally be.

Chloe sighs, “I… I’m late.”

Lucy cocks her head, “did you have pla—ah. You think you might be pregnant, well—”

“Look I know I’m probably just overthinking things but after what happened… I still usually have a flow because it’s a hormonal IUD but it’s never gone away for me so I just worry…”

“Darling,” Lucy says putting a hand on her shoulder, “angels are infertile, entirely sterile. Unless by some extreme self-actualization that would require you to want to be pregnant then I guarantee you are not pregnant.”

“Oh,” she laughs weakly. “I should have known, you couldn’t get me pregnant before so…. Ugh.”

“Darling you had no way to know that your transformation would stop your cycle.”

“No I know, there’s just so much going on y'know, everything is getting to me.”

“I can empathize, love, try and relax. Right now, everything is alright.” She says as she pours Chloe some more wine. “None of the intensity of the last week matters right now, you are safe with… family.”

“Lucifer?!” a familiar voice calls from the elevator. They both turn around to see Maze spinning a knife. “I got 'em,” she says with a smirk.

“This can't possibly be the killer Maze,” Lucy complains as she inspects the hogtied man Maze dragged in. “also why is he drooling like that? Did you hit him too hard?”

Maze snorts, “Nah I made him drink his own roofied drink.”

“I suppose that makes sense,” Lucy says as she pulls the clothing off the guy's nose. “Unfortunately this isn't our spree killer, there were no signs of drugs in the victim's systems.”

“Seriously? Why didn't the victims fight back then?”

“I don't know Maze that's a very good point. Seems like you have cracked this case wide open well done.”

Lucy pulls the gag out of the man's mouth, “tell me, what is it you truly desire?”

“I… I want… I want a pet rabbit,” he stutters.

“Ugh, well he doesn't seem much like a religious zealot,” Lucy scoffs.

“Damn,” Maze sneers, “how hard can it be to track down one stupid human!”

“Hmm perhaps there were multiple assailants, regardless Maze thank you. Someone is safe at home because of you.”

Maze smiles inhumanly wide, “what should we do with him?”

“Well… first pull um that out of… yes perfect. Right, let's see what the detective says shall we?”

Maze rolls her eyes as stalks out of the room and Lucy is quick to follow leaving the man dangling upside down from the ceiling.

“Look Lucifer I know you and Decker have a… thing but you seriously want to leave this to human law enforcement?”

“I am not leaving this to human law enforcement, Mazikeen I am leaving it to Chloe.”

“What is going on Lucifer, first Decker ends up in the hospital and I hunt down a bunch of guys without you explaining anything. Then you two don't leave each other's sides and she moves into the penthouse. Something is definitely up.”

“Yes, Mazikeen, personal matters that the detective is under no obligation to share.”

“Fine, it's not like I— oh hey Decker,” Maze greets noticing Chloe watching them from the doorway.

“Hi Maze, what is going on?” Chloe asks walking into the room.

“Mazikeen has been hunting our killer, the bastard she found was unfortunately unrelated to our case.”

“You kidnapped someone?” Chloe asks, she should probably be more alarmed.

“Well, he tried to roofie me, ticked him into drinking it then… I brought him here,” Maze says choosing her words carefully.

“Mazikeen, putting a fire poker in—never mind,” she says pinching her nose, “what shall we do with the miscreant detective?”

Chloe considers it for a moment before stomping down her desire for vengeance, “bring him in.”

Maze sighs “Fineeeeeee, I just thought after last time you might be more fun. Just let me grab the bolt cutters to cut him down,” she says as she skips out of the room.

“Do I want to know?” Chloe asks.

“Probably not love, Mazikeen tends to be eager.”

“I'm sorry for eavesdropping,” Chloe says a little sheepishly.

Lucy smiles, “angelic hearing does become far too tempting doesn't it?”

“Maybe a little,” Chloe laughs, “I mean if I try I can hear the bartenders downstairs, it's kinda impossible to not be slightly tempted.”

“Ooo darling you know I enjoy fulfilling temptation,” Lucy purrs as she closes the gap between them.

Thump Thump Thump*

They both turn to see Maze dragging the unconscious man by his ankles and they all stare at each other for a moment. “Mazikeen, Beatrice is on the balcony you cannot go out that way.”

“Fine I’ll take the stairs,” Maze says with a roll of her eyes.

“Just don't kill him,” Lucy sighs and the last thing they see is Maze’s Cheshire grin.

After a beat, Chloe speaks, “I feel like we should have stopped her.”

Chapter Text

“What’s up with you, is it your wings?” Chloe asks as they lounge by the ocean. They had spent yesterday moving and unpacking and had decided today was a beach day. She knew Lucy didn't like sand but she seemed eager to prance around in a bikini, “we could make a far superior version of hot tub high school.” Yet as content to go as Lucy seemed to be yesterday, today she was ansy. She was unable to sit still the entire car ride here and clearly uncomfortable.

“I suppose it is my wings,” Lucy replies as cryptically as ever and Chloe stares at her expectantly.

“I have this urge to… share my divinity with you and I don't understand it. My wings are aching in anticipation but I have no idea what's going on,” Lucy says thoughtfully.

“Share your divinity? Like when you healed me?”

“No, I… this is different. I wouldn't be giving you divinity instead it's like… a bond.”

Chloe laughs suddenly imagining something, “sorry sorry, I'm just picturing like an angel bonding dance.”

“I'm not a bloody bird detective,” Lucy complains with a roll of her eyes and a smile.

“I know,” Chloe chuckles, “right cmon let's do it, Trixie will be ok for a few minutes.”

Lucy cocks her head like birds do when curious and she has to stifle another laughing fit. “Do what?”

“The angel bond thingy,” Chloe says expectantly.

“Darling I have no idea what this is or what it will do, I'm the only angel besides Amenadiel to have sex let alone an actual relationship, we are in uncharted territory,” Lucy protests.

“Not doing it is making you uncomfortable and I trust you so come on,” she instructs walking away and stopping to ask one of the moms of the kids Trixie was playing with to keep an eye on her for a few minutes.

“I… but, oh bloody hell,” Lucy mutters as she walks after her towards the change rooms. Everyone turned to stare as they walked by and of course, they did they both looked fabulous. Chloe was in a somewhat modest red swimsuit and Lucy was in a green bikini with a sun shirt adorned with a small upside-down cross necklace she had found hilarious.

“So what next?” Chloe asks when they are hidden away from prying eyes.

“I… well we need our wings,” Lucy speculates as she unfurls her wings and Chloe does the same. “Detective, how can you be ok with all this after what happened last time you came in contact with my divinity? Dad knows what could happen.”

“Lucy I trust you… and I love you,” Chloe says as she takes her hand.

“And I you, Chloe,” she replies. with a nod as she wraps her wings around them. Chloe isn't entirely sure why she accepted whatever was going to happen so easily but something deep within her told her it was good. Whatever new angel instincts she had gained wanted this even if neither she nor Lucy knew what it was.

Chloe inhales sharply as Lucy mutters something in her angelic tongue, “ge cacrg a uls c capimao.” She is filled with a sense of warmth and belonging and she is fairly certain the pair of them are glowing. The feelings build, commitment, respect, loyalty and she feels tears flow from her eyes that she didn't even notice she closed. Forcing her eyes open she sees Lucy with tears flowing from her red hellfire eyes as the celestial light around them fades.

“Chloe… you eyes,” Lucy breaths.

Chloe glances in the mirror to see her eyes glowing with blue and white flame that mirrors a burning tempest. “What happened?” she asks turning back to Lucy.

“I… do not know,” Lucy answers as confused as she is.

“So we just do some kind of angel cocoon and now my eyes glow like yours?”

Lucy shakes her head, “I suspect they are tied to strong emotions the way mine are.”

Chloe nods, “ok, yea that makes sense… whatever that was, it was intense.”

To Chloe's surprise, Lucy pulls her into a hug, “I… I'm glad your here.” Chloe melts into her arms and kisses her cheek. Lucy smiles as they pull away and Chloe can tell her eyes are back to normal.

“Thank you, Chloe,” Lucy says referring to everything, no matter what has happened to them up to now they have had each other. “Now let's get back to the little urchin before she misses us too much.”

Chloe was surprised that Lucy has secretly set up a tribe night. Despite Ella's insistence that she was welcome to tag along Lucy politely declined as someone needed to watch Trixie. When Chloe was human she would have been exhausted from the beach day but as she had angelic stamina a night out with her friends would be nice. It was an opportunity to slip back into normalcy, she hadn't had a night out with friends since before she ended up in the hospital and her life had changed so much since then.

“This was exactly what I needed!” Ella cheered as she downed another shot. It was always surprising how well she could hold her alcohol considering how small she was.

“Definitely,” Linda agreed, “last week was exhausting.”

“No kidding, way too many bounties. Plus Lucifer had a complicated job for me,” Maze agrees.

“Mazeeeee, it's Lucy now,” Ella scolds, slightly slurring her words.

Maze rolls her eyes, “Ellen, Lucifer’s name is always Lucifer no matter what form she chooses to take, Lucy is just a nickname.”

Chloe has been trying to act normal but has definitely been quieter than normal. She wasn't feeling super comfortable around so many people and she was feeling bad about keeping two large secrets from her friends. Not that she was under any obligation to tell them anything but it still didn't feel right.

“Soooooo how are things with Lucy going?” Ella asks.

“Oh, it's definitely good,” Maze says with a grin, “I can smell…” Maze trails off looking at her suspiciously.

“I… um things are good, we went to the beach earlier today,” Chloe says trying to ignore whatever was going on in Maze’s head. Maze fully leans over the table to smell Chloe and she flinches away, thank the stars Maze hadn't touched her. She had quickly learned that any kind of unexpected touch would trigger her no matter who it was from.

“You smell like… celestial royalty, but not the rubbing off from Lucifer's way.” Maze says glaring at her.

“Maze you give really strange compliments,” Ella chirps and Linda just silently observes them.

“Royalty?” Chloe asks trying to focus on the part that doesn't involve her being an angel.

“You smell the same way Lucifer does, Decker did Lucifer make you queen of hell? I'm going to kill that bitch what was she thinking,” Maze yells as she draws her knives and heads for the elevator.

Linda is quick to react, “Maze, Maze, no stabbing Lucy just because of… whatever this is.”

“Fine whatever but she has some explaining to do,” Maze grumbles as she pulls the group towards the elevator.

“Detective, back from the party so soon?” Lucy calls as she hears the elevator ding. She and Trixie have spent the evening watching Disney movies and doing their nails with atrocious colourful nail polish. Why the urchin insisted on such things when she could have a professional do it was beyond her, not that she was going to get her nails done as she needed to keep them short for a multitude of reasons.

“What the hell did you do Lucifer?” Maze storms out of the elevator quickly controlling her anger when she sees Trixie sitting beside the queen of hell.

“Hi, Maze!” Trixie says cheerfully as she continues to paint Lucy’s nails.

“What did you do?” Maze asks again.

“Okay well… oh look more booze,” Ella says as she excuses herself from this conversation.

“I—” Lucy begins.

“Maze seriously, it's fine,” Chloe cuts it stepping between Maze and Lucy.

“No it’s not Decker, you smell like infernal royalty, if you are actually marked by hell then your soul gets dragged to hell when you die. On top of that you’re human and only angels can hold the throne so… talk!”

Chloe and Lucy share a look both of them strongly suspecting what happened earlier at the beach. “It's cus she's an angel,” Trixie chirps not looking up from her work.

“WHAT?” Maze and Linda yell as Lucy and Chloe share another look. Lucy gives her an encouraging smile so Chloe steps back and unfurls her wings.

Maze and Linda are both quiet for a moment before they hear a glass shatter on the floor. “I am wayyy too drunk for this,” Ella says from the doorway staring at the newer queen of hell.

“Okkkk why don't we all have a seat on the couch and Lucy and Chloe can explain some things,” Lucy says as she leads Ella to the couch.

“Ok let me get this straight, Lucy is the actual devil of actual hell who healed you with divinity when you were injured on the job. Then for some reason, you transformed into an angel and you two bonded and now you are the queens of hell…” Ella says.

“Pretty much,” Chloe says looking at Lucy for confirmation.

“You seem to be taking it pretty well,” Linda says.

“Well it sounds totally insane but I did say they gave the devil a bad rep, plus I have this um… ghost friend so um…”

“Oh, yea, Ray-Ray,” Chloe says, “you told me about her when you were thinking of moving.”

Lucy chuckles, “why my sister pretends to be a ghost I will never know.”

“What?” Ella asks.

“My sister Azreal the angel of death came to visit me and mentioned she had been watching over you since your car accident. Apparently, she lead you to LA because she wanted her two favourite people together or some similar sappy reason.”

“Oh…” Ella says stunned.

“Can we get back to the part where Decker is a fucking angel?” Maze grumbles.

“Language,” Both Lucy and Chloe say at the same time as inevitably Trixie is spying on this conversation and Maze just rolls her eyes.

“What about it?” Chloe asks.

“I…” Maze shifts uncomfortably looking at the humans in the room before dropping to one knee and saying something in a guttural language Chloe doesn't understand.

Lucy gives her a nod of thanks when she does stand up again and Linda and Ella just look confused. “She pledged her loyalty to you love,” Lucy whispers in Chloe’s ear.

“Oh uh thanks,” Chloe says awkwardly.

“No problem your majesty,” Maze says with a teasing grin as she turns and stalks towards the elevator.

“Lucy we can absolutely not tell Trixie about us being the queens of hell,” Chloe says.

“Why ever not?”

“Because if she learns she's a princess we will never hear the end of it.”

Lucy laughs sounding carefree, “and how are you handling this detective?”

Chloe shrugs, “I don't know. I… I kinda like the sound of Queen Chloe Morningstar,” she says with a smile.

“Perhaps keeping your last name would be better, two Queen Morningstars would be potentially confusing.”

Chloe shakes her head, “you think I should be Queen Decker? No way, I've been eyeing your last name for a while now.”

“Why you little minx,” Lucy says as she kisses her.

“Ok,” Linda says with a clap reminding everyone that she and Ella are still there, “I think that's our cue to leave.”

They say their goodbyes and Chloe and Lucy can't help but notice Ella’s fist pump and “deckerstar” as she enters the elevator. Looks like this reveal went as well as it could have and everyone is thankful for that. Obviously, they still have to figure out what to do with Dan but having Ella on board is a huge step for them. Lucy is determined to give Chloe as much of a normal life on earth as she can and having others on board will definitely help.

Chloe is feeling relieved to have that secret off her chest, she didn't go into detail about what exactly happened at the warehouse, still not ready to talk about that. She was very thankful she had Lucy to back her up for the reveal, she couldn't imagine how hard it was for Lucy to reveal her identity even if it was unintentional. Lucy had risked it all in hopes that they could move forward together and Chloe would never forget that. Trixie slips back into bed as all the adults leave with a smile on her face, she may not be the president of mars but the princess of hell may be just as good.

Chapter 16: Mind Control In A Bottle

Notes:

Hello again dear readers, as things begin coming to a close they finally get a break in the case.

Enjoy!

Chapter Text

Chloe woke with something stuck to her tongue, opening her eyes she realized it was a feather, one of her downy light blue feathers. She gasped as she took in the bedroom around her, it looked like a bomb made of feathers went off and they covered every surface.

Lucy stirred beside her, “good morning C—bloody hell.”

“Lucy, why are my feathers covering everything? My wings have been furled all night.”

“Unfurl them, my dear,” Lucy says with a knowing smile and Chloe does.

Her wings emerge fully grown and no longer downy baby wings but fully grown blue-grey wings the colour of her eyes. Her flight feathers were much different and it felt like a new haircut. “Wow,” Chloe breathes as she stretches out her fully grown wings, she definitely no longer looks like a pigeon. She flexes her wings testing how they move and accidentally bumps on into the wall leaving a deep gash as if her wing cut through butter.

“Careful darling, the primaries can be sharper than diamond if you flex them a certain way,” Lucy says with a gleeful smile at her shocked expression.

Lucy gently reaches over to caress her wing and Chloe is pretty sure she started purring. “You are truly exquisite my queen,” she purrs right back.

“I'm pretty sure I could lie here forever,” Chloe says blissfully.

“I'm sure we can spare a century or two at some point but I do believe Beatrice needs to go to child prison and we have a murderer to catch.”

“Ugh I think I liked it better when you were the irresponsible one,” she teases.

“Oh darling I can always misbehave, just say the word.”

“Oh I'm well aware, maybe I should just take today off. Not like Ella will be in today considering yesterday’s revelations.”

As if on cue her phone rang.

Now it was six victims in total, another two women had been killed during the night so it seemed the killer had just been taking a break. The crime scene was in another alleyway this time, not a personal home visit. Same MO as before, stab wound to the neck, missing pants, religious notes. Six victims in total and yet no major leads. They had placed the newest victims at a nightclub the evening before so the pattern continued.

“Fuck we are still no closer to finding this bastard,” Chloe sighed as she took her usual coffee from Lucy.

“Well Mazikeen had a discussion and it seemed strange to me that our victims don't fight back, perhaps they were drugged but by something more unusual or perhaps there were multiple assistants.”

“Hmmm, no I think we have one murderer here, serial killers tend to work alone and considering the nature of the crimes it supports that. Unless it was a cult or religious group committing the crimes then I'm leaning towards one person.”

“Guys!” Ella says rushing over

“Miss Lopez,” Lucy says looking surprised, “what are you doing here?”

“Umm working, anyways our killer finally got sloppy,” she says focusing on the case. “So I was testing the vics blood and I decided to expand the Tox screen since we were coming up with nothing anyways the victims had trace amounts of scopolamine along with another compound we couldn't identify. Scopolamine is said to create a zombie-like state where the person is easily suggestible.”

Lucy scowls, “Devil’s Breath, said to steal your soul and put you at people's mercy.”

“I… yea that one name for it,” Ella says grimacing.

“That has a strong religious connection,” Chloe says nodding.

“Miss Lopez,” Lucy says visibly pale, “could you please test the blood for praseodymium.”

“I… um, yea I can but why?” she asks confused.

“Please just do it, I will explain after,” Lucy says obviously worried.

After what felt like an eternity Ella returned to say there were no abnormal amounts of praseodymium.

“Thank dad for that,” Lucy says finally relaxing slightly.

“Ok spill,” Ella says.

“Well, scopolamine does not actually cause a hypnotic zombie state, that's an urban legend. However like most urban legends, there is some truth to it, mixing scopolamine with praseodymium and ground unicorn horn does actually produce that effect, quite literally mind control in a bottle.”

“Sorry unicorn horn? Unicorns exist?” Chloe asks in disbelief.

“They did, Dad drowned them in the flood but their horns can still be found and are quite potent. Either way, at least we know we are not dealing with supernatural forces here just someone with access to scopolamine.”

“Sorry I'm still processing that people can make “mind control in a bottle,” Chloe says.

“Don't fret love, no effect on celestials and usable unicorn horns are extremely rare.”

“Okay,” Ella says, “I’m just gonna bottle up the fact that mind control potions exist and focus on the case. Unfortunately, scopolamine is fairly commonly used to treat motion sickness but it will definitely help narrow down our search.”

It turned out that the discovery had been quite useful and they even now had a potential suspect. Doctor Virgil Curry had ordered a large shipment of scopolamine two weeks prior to the first murder. Sure it was a long shot but it was suspicious and the best lead they had nonetheless. They had yet to speak to the doctor himself as he was apparently out of town for the foreseeable future but his staff didn't seem to have any issues with the man. They had put a BOLO out on Dr. Curry as a person of interest but they didn't have enough evidence for anything more. Just because he ordered a large amount of scopolamine and was apparently a religious man didn't mean that he was their killer even if he was the best suspect they had so far.

“Ok so it seems our killer doesn't strike at the same nightclub twice and look at this,” Chloe says motioning to the map of LA in front of her. “If we plot out the nightclubs the victims visited it plots out as a crescent shape.”

“Detective what if it's not a crescent but an Ichthys?”

“A what?”

Lucy takes the marker from her and traces a symbol on the map that looks like a fish and happens to run over Lux and the two other clubs the victims went to. “The Ichthys has a multitude of meanings but it's mainly used today to identify oneself as an evangelist, the symbol has a religious origin that would make sense for this case.”

“Ok, sure. If we follow the arch in order then the next closes club is…. Squiz?”

Lucy chuckles, “truly a dreadful name for such a lovely establishment, I do believe the owner owes me a favour.”

“Ok, so we potentially know where the next victims will be and assuming that the pattern continues then there will be two more deaths tonight.”

“Yes, that seems reasonable,” Lucy agrees.

“The one thing I don't get, Doctor Curry doesn't seem like a religious fanatic, hell according to the file we have on him he's the least religious of his entire family. Plus he's a doctor who took the Hippocratic Oath, I know it doesn't mean he isn't our killer but I don't know, something doesn't feel right.”

“Regardless we still have a likely location for the next murders, it should be easy enough to set up a string.”

“Yea, good idea, we are perfect to lure the killer out,” Chloe says thinking about it.

“I… are you sure you want to pose as bait detective,” Lucy asks with concern. “Considering all that's going on, perhaps it would be better to let someone else draw the killer out.”

“Look, I appreciate the concern but I have to see this through. I know there is a lot going on right now but I need to make sure we get this guy.”

“Of course detective, let's catch ourselves a killer.”

“You sure the divine duo is up for this?” Ella asks as they finalize the operation.

“Please don't call us that,” Chloe says with an eye roll, “and yes we will be fine.”

“If you say so. We will need to find a sitter though since we will be busy,” Dan says.

“Im sure Maze would be delighted to spend some time with the urchin.

Dan chuckles, “man you and Lucifer really are twins, you two even talk the same.”

“You could say we are almost the same person,” Lucy says with a smile.

Ella and Chloe do their best not to burst out laughing at Dan’s obliviousness.

Shortly after their operation at Squiz was all planned, Lucy ensured that they had the establishment's full support by calling in her favour so they had a few hours to kill before it was time.

“Hey Ella, how are you holding up,” Chloe asks as she closes the door to the lab to give them some privacy.

“Im good, honestly it's kind of cool. I mean who else can say they are friends with three angels, four if you count Amenadiel too,” Ella says with her usual cheerfulness. “I think the more important question is how are you holding up?”

“Oh, im… ok. The whole immortality thing is a lot to adjust to I guess, the wings are definitely growing on me.”

“I bet you and Lucy just longe around preening each other,” Ella teases and Chloe turns a little red. “Wait no really?”

“I… lookitfeelsreallygood, anyways im glad your holding things together, Linda and Maze already knew about Lucy obviously but my new angelness was a shock to everyone,” Chloe says pulling herself together.

“Yea, Linda seemed happy to answer all my existentialist questions though, im never gonna take Lucy’s comments the same now though,” she laughs.

“Right! She was talking to Trixie about dinosaurs a few weeks ago and I almost told her to stop making stuff up before I remembered that she was literally around then.”

Ella pulls out a piece of paper and writes something down, “I have about 300 questions so far so we are going to have to organize another girl's night soon and drag Lucy along.”

Chloe laughs, “sure, sounds like a plan. Just maybe avoid any personal stuff, she has serious family issues.”

Ella nods, “oh yea totally, ok. If she seriously doesn't lie that makes like everything she says way crazier. Hey do you remember when Lucy asked my help for that stabbing case do you know what that was about, what celestial aspect am i missing from that?”

Chloe winces remembering what happened with Uriel, “let's just say, Lucifer’s mum gave the location of Azreal’s blade to a human and it makes people go all stabby over the smallest things.”

“Huh… that actually makes things make less sense,” Ella says.

“Yea apparently we have all been missing a lot of celestial drama the last few years. Anyways, I gotta get back to work Ella but im glad your doing good.”

“Sure sure, see you later your majesty,” Ella calls after her as she leaves.

“Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?”

“Yes actually very much, now make yourself scarce,” Lucy scowls at the man who approached her. They have been in this club for about an hour now with no sign of anything suspicious besides Lucy and Chloe being hit on a multitude of times.

“I should have worn a different dress,” Lucy grumbles as she takes a sip of whisky.

“Yea I should have worn a hoodie that I could pull over my entire body, this reminds me of my life right after the movie came out,” Chloe sighs. Lucy is wearing a sparkling silver dress that leaves her back and shoulders entirely exposed and Chloe is wearing a matching silver dress though more modest. Considering the weird celestial magnetism she is pretty sure that even wearing a trash bag would still cause everyone to be drawn to them, on the plus side this makes them excellent bait.

“Any sign of Dr. Curry?” Dan asks over the earpiece.

“Nope,” Chloe answers, “it's still relatively early so we just have to wait.”

“Ok, maybe move around a bit, go to the dance floor, something that will make you stand out.”

“Ooooo Daniel, have a particular fantasy in mind?” Lucy coos.

“No, shut up,” he mutters.

“Heyyyyyy ladies!” a man wanders up.

“Really, how are you so incredibly drunk, it's only just past 10,” Lucy glares.

“You two looking for some fun, you must be missing real dick,” the man says gyrating his hips.

“Ew no,” Chloe says.

“Cmon, I have a hotel room just a block away,” he says moving uncomfortably close to them.

“Back off,” Lucy growls.

“I like them feisty,” the man says as he starts to wrap his arm around Chloe. Before his hand reaches her however Lucy pins his hand to the bar with one of her daggers and he lets out a scream.

“You bitch,” he screeches but Lucy holds the knife in his hand keeping him stuck.

“Keep your hands to yourself or else you won't have them anymore,” Lucy says with a sweet smile that makes her look all the more terrifying as her eyes flash red.

The man yeps and Lucy pulls the blade out of his hand and he drops to the floor scrambling away from them. “Are you alright love?” Lucy turns to look at Chloe.

“yea, im… im ok,” Chloe says. She had frozen this time but her reaction wasn't as bad as it had been, she was getting better slowly but surely. To her surprise no one calls the cops or tries to have them removed, it seems Lucy and her favour holds a lot of power around here, hell one of the bartenders cleaned the blood off the bar without saying a word about it.

“Perhaps we should call this off now,” Lucy suggests as she wraps an arm around her.

“No, he's gonna strike again tonight, we can't let anyone else get hurt.”

“Daniel?” Lucy says, “if a man comes running out of the club screaming hysterically with an injured hand that ones on me, he should learn to keep his hands to himself.”

“Jesus, um ok,” Dan replies not really sure how to react to that. Lucy mutters something about her half-brother before focusing back on the situation at hand.

“So I've been meaning to ask, what's with you and knives now?” Chloe asks, she had noticed Lucy always seemed to have them after the hospital but she was pretty sure she had never seen Lucy use any kind of weapon before then.

“I well…” Lucy says sheepishly before taking another drink, “I was thinking about all the times the people around me have been in danger, before now I rarely used weapons because it made things a tad boring but now I have people that I care about and so I should be prepared if the situation arises.”

Chloe puts a hand on her arm before kissing her, “thank you, Lucy, that means a lot.”

“Over there detective, we are most certainly being observed detective,” Lucy says nodding subtlety towards a man standing in the corner.

“Definitely but he's not Dr. Curry,” she replies.

“Oh hold on, I recognize the little miscreant, that's his brother Donald Curry.”

“Dan, possible suspect is Donald Curry, Virgil Curry’s brother,” Chloe says.

“That's definitely possible, he's got a record for assault and a few other violent crimes,” Dan replies after looking him up.

“And when we briefly spoke to him and his family they seemed deeply religious,” Lucy adds.

“Right then, let's make ourselves better targets,” Chloe says as she heads for the back door with Lucy in right behind her.

A few minutes later they entered the alley behind the club and began walking.

“Can you hear anything?” Chloe asks, she does have celestial hearing herself but now is not the time for her to lose control of it. Lucy stops for a minute and closes her eyes as she listens.

Fwap* Fwap*

Lucy winces as she looks down to see a dart sticking out of her side. “A dart gun, bloody hell,” she mutters suddenly feeling a little woozy. Looking up Chloe also has a dart embedded in her as well and she collapses a moment later. Lucy barely manages to catch her before she hits the ground. She feels exhausted and slow but she refuses to give in, she is the embodiment of will.

Fwap* Fwap*

Lucy feels two more darts sink into her, willpower can only get one so far and she quickly falls unconscious. Chloe feels dizzy and slow, she holds onto consciousness long enough to see Lucy collapse beside her. The earpiece is taken from her ear before she feels herself being moved around and the sound of something slamming, then the start of an engine. This really did not go as planned.

Chapter 17: What Does That Make Me?

Notes:

Hello dear readers, only two chapters remain. Just FYI this chapter is pretty angsty so you have been warned but everything ends up ok.

Chapter Text

When Chloe finally comes back to her senses they seem to be in a warehouse of some kind and she can hear someone moving around near her. Clearly, her new celestial metabolism is burning through the drug much faster than expected as she notices Donald Curry pacing black pieces of paper around them. She is still too out of things to move around but she can tell it's only been a few minutes since the alleyway.

She tries to sit up but her muscles feel weak and she is uncoordinated, she powers through it only to be hit with a wave of nausea. She notices Lucy lying unconscious near her before her arms give out and she falls back to the floor, at least at this rate the drug should be out of her system soon. She feels unconsciousness trying to pull her back but she fights it, Lucy got a much higher dose than she did so she is going to have to figure out a way out.

“Quite the fighter I see,” Donald says as he walks into view.

“Give it up Donald, the cops already know it was you. Your best option is to surrender and turn yourself in,” Chloe says doing her best to act confident but she is pretty sure her mouth wasn't working to communicate most of that.

“I'm sorry I didn't quite catch that,” Donald says in a teasing tone as he places the last paper down. The hair on Chloe’s neck stands on end as she hears him walking up behind her but she doesn't have the energy to turn around. “Well aren't you a pretty one, if not for the devil’s influence you would have made a perfect wife,” he leers as he brushes her hair out of her face.

The comical moment from the fact that he has no idea how influenced by the devil she quickly fades as panic begins to set in, this is far too similar to the warehouse. “Don't worry whore, I'm not going to kill you, not until I've had my fun with you and your companion. It seems God has rewarded my good work by putting you two in my path.”

Chloe’s brain I screaming at her to fight back, to run, to move but her body won't listen. Donald rolls her over before starting to unbutton her shirt, she needs to fight, she can't let this happen to Lucy or herself again and yet she can't do anything. Hands, it's the hands all over again, the same disgusting glint in his eye and the same fear coursing through her.

“Don't worry, I will make sure you enjoy it. This will be the last good thing you get before your eternity of suffering in hell.” Chloe’s fear turns to rage, how dare he, how dare he think this is the right and holy thing to do. He has been killing and raping people in the name of god, how dare he. He is trying to scar her further before removing her from Trixie’s life far too soon, how fucking dare he!

Chloe lets the grief and rage take over and she lands a punch to his ribs. She can feel bones shatter as he flies back. Chloe is up in seconds with a flic of her majestic wings, her eyes burning with a vengeance. She slams her fists into him her vision blurring with tears, hasn't she suffered enough, hasn't Lucy suffered enough? She has to keep them safe, she can't take this anymore.

Before Chloe can slam her fists back into him a hand stops her. Not a bad hand or a reminder of what happened but Lucy’s hand. “Lucy,” she sobs as her partner holds her in her arms.

“Chloe, I'm here,” Lucy replies comfortingly but something is clearly wrong.

Chloe forces her eyes open, now is not the time for theatrics if they are still in danger or…. Her hands, covered and dripping with blood. She glances toward Donald and immediately pales, his face has been caved in from her blow and there is no way he is still alive. The room spins as she pushes Lucy away, she stumbles falling to her knees before throwing up. That's the last thing she remembers before she faints.

Chloe wakes with a start and dry heaves, before even opening her eyes she finds a bucket in her hands as she throws up again. She flops back on the bed and takes in her surroundings, she finds herself in the penthouse bed with Lucy sitting beside her. Chloe stares at her hands and finds them clean but judging by the bloody cloth beside her and Lucy’s expression it wasn't just a bad dream.

“I… I killed him,” she mutters still looking at her hands.

“Yes love,” Lucy replies.

“What happened, how…” she asks.

“You fainted, I thought perhaps it was best to bring you back here. Beatrice is asleep and Maze is pacing around ready to stab someone,” Lucy explains.

Chloe finds herself shaking, “I can't be a cop anymore, I have….Fuck, how can I face Tr—” she does get the words out before tears overtake her. Lucy slides into bed next to her and is relieved to find she still brings Chloe comfort.

“Chloe,” she calls gently and after giving her another minute to cry gently turns her face to hers. “I love you and I am here for you.”

“Lucy I’m a—” she begins.

“Monster?” Lucy asks with a sad smile, “no love, you are not a monster. You did what you had to do.”

“No. That's the problem, Lucy, I didn't have to kill him but I'm glad the bastard’s dead and suffering in our domain. I beat a man to death and I'm content that he is in hell, what kind of a person does that make me?”

“Detective if it were not for your new celestial strength then he wouldn't hav—”

“What does that make me Lucy? I don't feel guilty, I'm happy he's getting what he deserves, how can I face my daughter, how can I be a cop, how can i be a fucking angel when I'm happy that I beat a man to death?”

“When Uri—”

“It's not the same! Uriel’s death was justified, I can't justify my actions. I was so angry and it just felt good to punish him, god knows he deserved it but I can't just do things like that. If I was anyone else you would agree with me, I can't be a good person if I'm capable of this.”

“Would your reaction be different if you have used your weapon rather than your fists?” Lucy asks.

Chloe exhales and nods, “it just felt so much more brutal but I also enjoyed it,” she says crying.

“Did you enjoy hurting him or was it just relief that he would no longer hurt anyone again? That his punishment was served and he was no longer a danger?”

“I… but I'm still happy he is dead,” she whines.

“Your gift is to draw out guilt darling, perhaps you are not a punisher in the way I am but you most certainly hunt the guilty and give them what they deserve. After all you have gone through and what he did it is my opinion that justice was served.”

“Lucy I'm supposed to be a detective, I can just snap…” she begins but loses steam, Lucy is making points that she doesn't really have any comeback to.

“Love, that's what makes you a good person, the fact that you adhere to your morals even when you have no reason to. The fact that you are upset over this at all is more proof of that. So listen to me when I tell you that in my professional opinion of being charged to punish the guilty that your actions were justified but perhaps not ideal. Alright?”

Chloe nods, “ok… ok, thank you, Lucy, I love you so much.”

“And I you detective,” Lucy replies as she for once hugs Chloe first.

Chloe wakes to find the space beside her empty, she doesn't even remember drifting off after their conversation whenever that was. It's still dark outside but she can faintly hear voices from the main room. She quietly slips out of bed to investigate.

“Mazikeen there is no one to punish, he has been dealt with,” Lucy says.

“Then spill, even with angel strength since when does decker pummel anyone?” Maze replies.

“It is not mine to share,” she hisses eyes flashing red.

“Decker doesn't just get into fights let alone cave someone's skull in Lucifer, I want to help!”

“Maze I appreciate the gesture and if we think of anything we will let you know, currently the detective is in shock and our serial killer is dead.”

“Ok, you want me to clean up the body?” Maze offers.

“Hmm… honestly that's up to the detective, I do have the influence to make this all disappear if she wishes. Regardless Mazikeen, thank you,” Lucy replies and Maze takes her leave. “You can stop eavesdropping darling, need I remind you that my hearing is as good as yours,” Lucy calls out playfully and Chloe smiles sheepishly.

“Sorry, I woke and you were gone and I heard voices,’ Chloe says as she steps into view.

“Nonsense love, let's get you back to bed,” Lucy says as she leads her back towards the bedroom.

“I don't, you know,” Chloe yawns.

“Hmm?”

“I don't want you to make it all go away, Dan accepted his punishment and i— fuck, Dan!”

“Don't worry love, I told Daniel we were alright and sent the address of the warehouse to Miss Lopez. Daniel was quite adamant you call him in the morning but crisis averted,” Lucy explains.

“Thank you, Lucy,” Chloe mumbles, “i… what if it happens again?”

“What if what happens again?”

“What if out of fight or flight my fight kicks in, what do I do when it happens again? I can't be a cop if at any moment I could crush someone's skull,” she says starting at her now clean hands, her own hands that were covered in gore.

“I'm not sure Chloe, you always stopped me back when I was going to do something drastic so in the future I will do my best to reciprocate that. I know you didn't wish to explain everything to Doctor Linda but she will be more helpful on this matter than I.”

“Lucy you've already been extremely helpful,” Chloe mutters as sleep begins to take her all cuddled up with the devil. “You are one of the few things keeping me together.” they drift off to sleep with their wings entangled and their daughter asleep in the next room, who knows what tomorrow may come but all is well in the moment.

“Ahem!”

Chloe blinks her eyes open as she is awoken by someone standing at the foot of the bed. Lucy stirs beside her and sits up. “Miss Lopez, what brings you here so early in the morning?”

“What the actual hell? First, you two vanish from a sting scaring the shit out of everyone before you text me an address that's the crime scene of our killer with a mangled body.”

Lucy doesn't miss the way Chloe finches at her words, with a sigh she stands and covers herself in a bathrobe before gesturing for Ella to wait outside.

“Fuck,” Chloe grumbles.

“What are you going to tell her?” Lucy asks.

“I…. everything, its the only way she will understand and I can't keep what happened a secret much longer. Trying to pretend it didn't happen isn't helping and it's exhausting. Maze is already suspicious and Ella and Linda have definitely noticed something too.”

Lucy nods, “I shall be by your side, my queen.” Chloe is suddenly very aware of how much she likes being called that, and it's starting to sink in that she and Lucy are the rulers of an entire realm. Not the time to think about what that truly means, she has non-celestial matters to deal with.

“Thank you, my queen,” Chloe says with a small smile before turning her attention back to the matters at hand.

“So?” Ella asks when they finally sit across from her on the couch.

Chloe takes a shaky breath, “I killed him.”

“Did…?” Ella asks pointing to her own face and Chloe nods.

“O…kay, um what happened,” Ella says trying to keep herself together.

“We… well…. I…. for fucks sake,” Chloe grumbles unable to find the words.

“We were knocked out with tranquillizers and taken to the warehouse,” Lucy begins giving Chloe a place to start.

“I woke up before Lucy and he was setting up the scene. He… said something… and I… I didn't even realize what I had done until Lucy woke and stopped me from going further, I didn't know that I was…” She is overtaken by emotion before she can finish, she can almost still feel the blood on her hands.

“After she went into shock so I took her home before notifying Daniel and yourself and then well here we are,” Lucy summarizes as she wraps an arm around Chloe comfortingly.

“Fuck, but that's so… his head was…I don’t—why?” Ella splutters clearly affected by what she had found.

After a long moment, Chloe spoke, “Fight just kicked in and I'm so strong….I was raped.”

“Shit Decker,” Ella says already teary eyed before she launches herself at Chloe for a hug. “Should we get you to a hospital?”

Chloe shakes her head, “during the Alice Deane case I wasn't just knocked out before Lucy rescued me. They… raped and butchered me… without Lucy I would be dead, she saved me but I'm still dealing with it. I… I don't handle touch well so I just reacted and… did it”

“Sorry,” Ella immediately apologizes realizing she had just tackled Chloe in a hug a moment before.

“It's ok, your hugs never made me freak out,” Chloe says. “It's mainly being touched by men that makes me freak out, that and anything aggressive or surprising.”

“That's why I changed,” Lucy adds, “wasn't scheduled for a few more centuries but it seemed appropriate considering the situation.”

Ella nods, “I'm… really sorry that happened to you and if you ever need to talk…” Chloe opens up her arms and Ella hugs her again, “I'm sorry I was mad at you guys but the crime scene is gonna be a shit show.”

“Yes this has become quite the situation,” Lucy says.

Chapter Text

Eventually, Ella made her leave and Chloe called Dan to tell him she was alright. The scene was being processed still so Chloe decided to take a sick day. She was still shaken up over what happened but it felt good to tell Ella everything. Lucy had been gently pushing her to talk to Linda and so here she was in the waiting room.

Lucy had noted the way Chloe clung to her after their angelnapping. At every opportunity, she was holding onto her. Lucy was pretty sure she wasn't really aware she was doing it, it was clear Chloe didn't want to be separated from her.

“Would you like me to accompany you?” Lucy asks pulling Chloe from her thoughts.

Chloe nods, Lucy was her crutch at the moment and she wasn't about to leave her behind. She wasn't sure still about talking to Linda, they were friends and she was Lucy’s therapist. It just felt as though they were crossing some kind of boundary, on the other hand, she trusted Linda already as she was a celestial insider who could help with that aspect as well. So even if she wasn't going to talk to Linda as a client she could still talk to her as a friend who was knowledgeable in these areas.

Shortly after the in-session light faded and the previous client emerged from Linda’s office. “Are you still certain you wish to do this?” Lucy asks.

“Yes, you were right before. Linda can probably help me not murder somone next time,” Chloe says with a sigh.

“Chloe love, at most it was manslaughter if you really want to break it down but it was self-defence. We were drugged about to be assaulted and killed, I cannot see how your actions were not justified.”

“No I know, let's just get this over with,” she relented, even knowing that she still feels like a killer.

“Good morning Lucy— oh,” Linda says when they walk into the room.

“Good morning doctor, I realize we have an appointment today but I think the detective may need it more than I,” Lucy says.

“Uh ok,” Linda says, by no means was this a normal thing to happen but since when was her life normal anymore anyways? “Have a seat Chloe.”

Chloe sits and all but drags Lucy to the couch as well, something must have definitely shaken considering the way she is clinging to Lucy. “what brings you in today?”

“I… killed someone,” Chloe says now staring at her hands again.

“In self-defence,” Lucy quickly adds.

“Lucy bludgeoning someone's skull in with my bare hands is not reasonable force,” Chloe snaps.

Linda lets out a long breath, she was required to report such things to the police as it was an exception to doctor-patient confidentiality though Chloe wasn't a client. Plus she had already slept with Lucy as a client and had broken a man out of a mental health facility. Normal was something she was never going to find again.

“At most, they could argue it was manslaughter but I'm sure they would see reason,” Lucy continues drawing her attention back to the angels in front of her.

“They aren't gonna believe that I accidentally crushed a man's skull with celestial strength because it sounds insane.”

“Ok,” Linda says stopping their argument, “how about you two tell me what happened.”

Chloe sighs, “well remember that case I mentioned during tribe night?”

“Yes, the serial killer killing gay couples?”

Chloe nods, “we were on a sting, got hit by tranquillizer darts. I woke up before Lucy, he was taunting me and I just kinda snapped. When Lucy finally stopped me I was just covered… and he….”

Linda nods trying to keep her therapist mask in place but damns that was something she didn't really want to think about too much. “What do you think prompted this uh reaction?”

“Back… on our last case when Lucy saved and healed me I wasn't just hit over the head,” she begins her voice filling with emotions. “They… they raped and butchered me like a piece of meat,” she says devolving into sobs by the end and Lucy furls her wings and wraps them around her. “Lucy barely found me in time, I should have died,” she mumbles.

“I would have never let that happen, my love,” Lucy says clearly remembering something horrific.

“Jesus fucking christ,” Linda mutters her therapist mask crumbling. “Well I can see why you would react the way you did,” Linda says pulling her persona together and ignoring the angel wings, she would never really get used to that but she had more important things to focus on.

“Linda, what do I do?” Chloe says defeated. “I can't deal with crowded places or touch especially from men. Dan tried to give me a hug in the hospital and I panicked. Lucy had to change so that I could be near her without freaking out.”

Linda nods slowly now putting together the why that Lucy had left out during their last appointment. “Well… I don't specialize in trauma recovery but considering…” she trails off motioning to the white wing Chloe finds herself wrapped in. “from what I know having people to support you is really important, like Lucy and also myself.”

“And Miss Lopez,” Lucy adds, “Maze and I already tortured the bastards but I'm sure she could also be of some support when you are ready to tell her.”

Linda nods deciding to ignore the blatant mention of torture, “opening up and talking about what happened is also important, simply trying to ignore it does more harm than good. You do seem to be handling this better than most considering you haven't taken any time off or anything.”

“Linda I killed a man,” Chloe says.

“Well sounds like he deserved it… anyways another thing to keep in mind is being ready for flashbacks and such but I assume you were already aware of that one. The main thing to do is make sure you don't shut down, continue with your life and take care of yourself. Healing takes time but you clearly have people that can support you,” she says glancing at Lucy who can't help but feel relieved she has been doing the right thing.

“Ok,” Chloe says after a long pause, “thanks, Linda.”

“Anytime, and I mean anytime. I will bring some food over tonight.”

“Please don't bring over gallons of soup like when I got the flu,” Chloe says with a weak laugh.

“No promises,” Linda replies.

“What about detective douche?” Lucy asks after they pick Trixie up and are relaxing at home.

“What about Dan?” Chloe asks.

“Are you going to tell him?”

“I don't know, I should but I don't think he would take the whole you being the devil and me being an angel thing well.”

“Well technically we are both the devil now,” Lucy says with a smile.

“I think that might be worse,” Chloe laughs.

“Well there is no rush, we can simply live in the moment.”

“Hmmm,” Chloe approves, “how did your interview at the station go?”

“Well, I left out the bits about your wings and your hellfire eyes and told them that either you were supernaturally strong when you hit him or something else did the damage,” Lucy says with a grin.

“You do love your loopholes,” Chloe replies.

“I do darling though I still don't see why you didn't let me make it all go away?”

“Because I still killed someone Lucy, they are definitely gonna put me on leave and honestly that's fair. I can't just get off scot-free for killing someone no matter the situation. Plus some time off would do me some good.”

“Ah, a self-inflicted punishment, I'm quite familliar with those,” Lucy says as her face melts away into her scared visage.

Chloe gives a small smile and lights her eyes with blue and white hellfire. She may not have a devil face of her own but then punishment has never been her domain.

“Woah, it's still so cool,” Trixie says having walked into the kitchen.

“Cool!? This face is meant to strike fear into the hearts of the guilty, spawn!” Lucy says offended.

That was something Chloe hadn't considered, Lucy’s divine or well infernal job was to punish the guilty and if she said that she wasn't guilty then who was she to argue with that?

“Are we gonna go flying soon?” Trixie asks for the millionth time this week.

“Soon Trix,” Chloe says unfurling her grey-blue wings, “my wings are ready we just have to find a good time to go.”

“Beatrice?” Lucy asks with a glint in her eye, “how do you like camping?”

Trixie’s face lights up and Chloe interrupts “are you suggesting we go camping?”

“Yes, of course, you said once the case was done we could go on a vacation. There would be plenty of privacy for learning how to fly and it would be nice and relaxing.”

Chloe nods slowly, “but why would you want to go camping? They don't have showers?”

Lucy rolls her eyes, “because I know you and Beatrice like camping. Also need i remind you that I'm older than humanity, I've been slumming it for millions of years.”

“Please mommy can we?” Trixie asks with her puppy eyes.

“Alright but no complaining when your suits get dirty,” Chloe relents, she does enjoy camping.

“Hey Chlo, how are things going?” Dan asks over the phone.

“Could be worse, they are making me take some time off,” she replies.

“Good, you definitely need the vacation.”

“Yea that's what I was calling about, We are planning a camping trip so do you mind if I take Trix for that?.”

“Sure no problem, oh also since im sure you are dying to know, Donald Curry’s DNA is a match so case closed. Seems the entire family was a bit extremist and Virgil left to become a doctor. Seems Donald killed him then forged his signature to get the scopolamine, they found his body this afternoon.”

“Damn, well thanks for wrapping things up.”

“No worries, anyways talk to you later, have fun on your trip.”

“My queen have I been a good devil long enough,” Lucy purrs from between her legs when she finally hangs up sending a holt of heat through her.

“Yes you have, I know patience is not one of your virtues,” Chloe grins as Lucy gets to work.

Chloe stokes Lucy’s feathers as Lucy eats her out. Sex is not the word that would be used to describe it, lovemaking would be more accurate. Soft tender and emotional, a sign that everything would be ok. Chloe hums in approval as she wraps them in her fully grown wings. Lucy’s tongue is truly magical as it melts her worries away, she supposes that eons of practice will do that and now she gets to reap the benefits for eternity. Her orgasm shutters through her already worn out from the days earlier machinations.

She basks for a moment before sitting up and pulling Lucy into a kiss. Keeping Lucy busy she nibbles on her lip as she grabs the strap on from the bedside drawer and applies some lube, can't leave a devil unsatisfied. “Someone's feeling feisty” Lucy purrs as Chloe pushes her back on the bed.

They intertwine their wings as she slides into the harness and lines the toy up with Lucy’s pussy. Lucy’s smug wanton look is enough to drive anyone mad and her highly sensitive flight feathers are not helping keep her composure.

Lucy lets out a low moan before sucking on Chloe’s neck as she feels herself being spread. Perhaps the position is a tad boring for Lucy’s tastes but this is about love not just sex, plus Chloe makes it feel special regardless. Lucy massages her breasts as Chloe begins to move painfully slowly. She tries to make her speed up with her wings but Chloe anticipates that and twists her wings just so causing an unexpected moan of pleasure from herself.

After torturous and yet delightful teasing Chloe finally gives her what she wants, a good fucking. “My queen,” Chloe says possessively as she gently holds onto Lucy’s throat and shifts her hips angel and oh does she like that. “Yours,” Lucy gasps as she feels her muscles begin to flutter. Chloe fucks her through her orgasm before contently flopping on top of her partner for winged cuddles.

Shortly after they clean up and shower along with Chloe putting her oral skills to the test to balance the scales they find themselves ready for bed and property tired out.

“I love you, Lucy,” Chloe mumbles into her chest as they cuddle together.

“And I you, my love,” Lucy replies contently.

With emotions conveyed they drift off to the Dreaming intertwined in a blue and white cocoon.

Chapter 19: Epilogue

Notes:

Hello dear readers, we have come to the last chapter of The Queens of Hell. A sequel to this fic exploring Chloe's life now as an angel is possible but we shall see how things go. I have a few other fics in mind for future projects so no promises.

I hope you all enjoyed it, I had a lot of fun working on this story so without further ado, the last chapter.

Chapter Text

Chloe had not expected Lucy to be interested in camping whatsoever so she wasn't surprised when Lucy went out to buy brand new top-of-the-line camping gear. They pulled into the campsite and went about unpacking. Lucy had rented all nearby camping sites to ensure they would have privacy and by now Chloe had given up trying to argue with Lucy about spending ridiculous amounts of money unnecessarily.

“I didn't know you could wear anything that wasn't super fancy,” Trixie says looking at Lucy’s practical yet lavish attire.

“Ha ha, child. I will have you know I spent the majority of my existence wearing robes so I'm more than allowed to dress up,” Lucy replies.

Chloe smiled at their bickering as she unpacked the food. The trip had taken significantly less time than it should have thanks to Lucy’s unwillingness to follow the speed limit. She was starting to get used to her celestial abilities somewhat, she could control her heightened senses and super strength. Being able to lift the car with one hand was really useful when she recently got a flat tire. Lucy had even been helping her with flight, she had been shown the basics and achieved lift but this was the trip where she was going to put it all together. She could feel her wings trying to flutter in anticipation from where ever they were.

The whole invulnerability thing was also pretty wild, they had split up on a recent case and she had gotten shot in the chest. It really did feel like a flick and it had taken Chloe a minute to realize she wasn't dying, the perp had significantly regretted his actions when faced down with two angry devils. Her ability to draw out guilt was also quite useful but sometimes she also learned things about people that she didn't want to.

Regardless it had only been a few weeks since she awoke in the hospital bed but she was feeling good again. She still had flashbacks and wasn't great with touch but she was improving, she was fully aware it would take time but she had an abundance of it now. Explaining what happened to Maze had gone surprisingly well and for once the demon was actually compassionate before she “went hunting,” Chloe decided to just let Maze do whatever she was gonna do. She still hadn't told Dan but considering he wasn't a celestial insider she would deal with that can of worms later.

Of course in Lucy’s quest to plan the perfect trip, they had ended up pushing the trip back and also giving her some more time to adjust to normalcy and to build up her wing muscles. Lucy had managed to convince the lieutenant to let her continue to work until their vacation was ready. As weird as it sounds she was feeling like herself again even if she had now two more limbs than before.

“Can we go flying now?!” Trixie whines immediately after camp is set up. Their daughter has been not very patiently waiting for her mom to learn how to fly.

“If it's alright with her majesty,” Lucy says glancing towards Chloe and she nods. Lucy had kept up the royal nicknames thing and Chloe did kinda like it, of course somehow Trixie had learned about her new royal status and insisted on such titles as well. She could tell Trix felt a little left out with everything going on so she did her best to include her.

“Well urchin, I may have brought a surprise,” Lucy says with a smile.

“What is it?” Trixie asks excitedly.

Lucy pulls out a harness, “I thought perhaps you would want to join us in the air.”

Chloe has never heard Trixie squeal in excitement so loud in her life. It had taken some convincing on Lucy’s part to allow the harness idea but it was that or Trixie was gonna make them carry her. Lucy straps the harness on before picking Trixie up and stapping her to her chest securely.

“Ready my love?” Lucy asks with a smile.

“As I will ever be,” Chloe replies with a quick peck on the cheek.

They head to a cleared area with a break in the trees, in the distance, a cliff can be seen they are going to. “So, learning to fly is similar to learning to ride a bike so you're going to just have to go for it. Don't worry if you start to fall I shall fly far enough away that your invulnerability keeps you safe.”

Chloe swallows, even with invulnerability falling out of the sky into a forest doesn't seem pleasant. “Don't fret Chloe, you are ready for this,” Lucy comforts before motioning for her to go for it.

“You can do it, mommy!” Trixie exclaims wiggling in her harness.

“The devil’s in the details,” Chloe mutters as she extends her wings and angels her wings just right. She doesn't miss Lucy’s grin at her pun as a large flap sends herself into the air.

Chloe's stomach drops as she flings herself into the air suddenly feeling a lot less confident. She flails her arms before remembering she literally has wings and extends them as practiced to increase lift and stop herself from plummeting. After a moment she finds herself soaring and can make out Lucy and Trixie’s faces as she gives an experimental flap and gains some altitude.

The view from up here is exquisite and though the height should probably freak her out, flying is so fucking awesome. Awkwardly she gives another flap slowly heading towards the cliff that Lucy had pointed out earlier.

Lucy says something to Trixie that she can't quite make out over the wind before she unfurls her wings and soars up beside Chloe. Trixie squeals the entire way up with her arms raised like on a roller coaster.

“Your a natural my queen,” Lucy says as she does a roll through the air.

“This is awesome,” Trixie says with an expression of amazement.

Chloe laughs before following Lucy and doing a roll than sends her off course slightly but she recovers. This is pretty awesome, if someone had told her she would be flying through the air with wings and the devil by her side she would have thought them crazy.

She finds herself unfortunately quickly tiring as she still isn't used to flying yet so she gently glides towards the cliff and only half crashes into a tree as she lands. Her first flight was definitely more successful than her first attempt to ride a bike. Lucy elegantly lands behind her with a bow, what a show off she thinks with a smile.

It's evening now and they arrived at just the right time to watch the sunset. They sit on the edge overlooking a drop that would have scared her shitless previously but now posed no threat. Lucy unbuckles a pack from the harness and pulls out sandwiches and a thermos. It's cold up here though it only affects Trixie, though they didn't bring blankets they do have supernaturally heated angel wings to wrap themselves in. They eat and sip on hot chocolate in contentment, this really is a perfect vacation.

“Thanks for all this Lucy,” Chloe says leaning on her partner and child.

“It was my pleasure, my love,” Lucy replies.

“Best vacation ever,” Trixie says with her mouth full of dinner.

Chloe leans over and kisses Lucy, she had never felt a stronger sense of belonging than with her and she knows she feels the same. She is finally home. The Queens of hell and their Princess, ready to face any future challenges, watch the sunset, one of many many more they will share together.
