Monkey D Garp is a lot of things.
He's a captain in the navy, the hero of the government, and a man feared by man. He's a friend, a boss, and a confidant.
Most importantly though, he's a father.
He's a father who is not very impressed with the person his son brought home.
"Dragon... is that the daughter of Whitebeard?" Garp asked.
Dragon glared at him. "Son."
"Huh?" Garp made a confused noise.
"I'm the son of Whitebeard." The boy said.
Huh. Okay. Garp blinked and then nodded. "Dragon, is that the son of Whitebeard?"
There was a relieved breath shared between the two teens and Dragon grinned. "Father, this is Crocodile. He's my boyfriend and yes, he is technically the son of Whitebeard."
His son is dating Whitebeard's kid.
That took a long moment for Garp to process. He let out a groan as he dragged his hand down his face and looked at them both. Crocodile as he was now called, had a light blush decorating his face and his eyes crept down to where the two teens were holding each other's hands tightly.
"How did you two meet?" Garp asked.
"Reconnaissance mission," Dragon responded, eyes not meeting his father's.
Garp nodded, coming to terms with his son brazenly lying to him. "How long have you been dating?"
"Five months." Dragon said.
"I see..." Garp leaned forward, resting his chin on his knuckles. He glowered at the both of them, trying to figure out what to say. "Dragon, go see if your sister needs any help in the backyard. I need to have a talk with your boyfriend."
Dragon and Crocodile shared a look, a silent conversation taking place between the two. Eventually, Crocodile nodded and Dragon squeezed his hand, finally letting go and leaving Garp alone with him.
"Tell me something, Crocodile, what are your intentions with my son? Is it to get to me, or gather more information on the navy for your-"
"He is not my parent. He may be my birth father but he is not my true father." Crocodile spat out, bristling and settling Garp with a glare. "Whitebeard claims he only has a daughter, and I cannot be a daughter for anyone. Besides that, I... love Dragon. I wouldn't use him as a means to an end."
A glaring contest went on between the two, eyes drilling into each other. Eventually, Garp let out a heavy sigh. "Dragon is strong. He's also smart, just like his mother. However, as a father, I'll say this once and only once: If you ever hurt him... I will not hesitate to hunt you down to the ends of the seas to make you pay."
"I know." Crocodile said confidently. "I know, and I'll make sure you never have to do that."
(Garp was not a perfect father. He was brash and loud and was quick to anger, but he loved his kids unconditionally. Even as he saw them both pull further and further away from the arms of the World Government. If anyone tricked their way into his kids' hearts, and if they used that position to crack and break them...
Then Garp would bring down his fist on them.)
When Dragon returned and gripped Crocodile's hand, Garp couldn't help but grin.
"Well, if you aren't Whitebeard's kid anymore then we'll happily accept you into the Monkey family."
Dragon and Crocodile both snapped up to give him big wide eyes.
Garp laughed at their expression.

"ROGER! RAYLEIGH!"
Every member of the Roger pirates froze, shocked at the sudden loud shouting that filled the air. Seeing as how they were in the middle of the ocean, surrounded by nothing but blue, it was doubly surprising.
Roger grabbed a spyglass, looking in the direction of the shouting. "Huh, would you look at that. Garp's coming at us very fast."
"What?! Why?!" Shanks shouted.
"Do you think he found out about the whole-" Rayleigh waved his hand as he tried to find the words, "-daughter thing?"
Roger grinned. "If that is why he's chased us down completely on his own, then we're fucked."
"What did you two do?!" Crocus asked.
"Should we raise sail and run?" Their navigator asked.
Roger and Rayleigh glanced at each other and Roger shook his head. "Even if we did run, he'd catch up eventually. Besides, probably a good idea to talk to our girlfriend's dad."
"Your girlfriends what?!" All of his crew asides Rayleigh shouted.
"So you are dating my daughter!" Was the announcement of Garp's arrival on the ship. He swung himself up onto deck and flickers of his haki lashed out, making everyone on deck take a step back at the pure malice radiating off of him.
(Crocodile was one thing, especially since he had yet to become a pirate of his own at that point in time and Garp was not in the business of blaming a child for their parent's crimes. However, Roger and Rayleigh were an entirely different story, especially since the only time they would have contact with Rouge was when Garp was chasing after them. Which meant that while Garp was busy trying to catch them, the captain and first mate were busy flirting with his daughter.)
Garp stalked up to them, "What the hell did you think you were doing?"
"Garp," Rayleigh raised a hand in an attempt to calm the man down, "Let's talk about this-"
"Quiet, both of you!" He was genuinely angry, which surprised all of them. The man acted mostly annoyed and frustrated but never pissed. "What the hell are your intentions with my daughter?!"
Rayleigh and Roger looked away from him and Roger said, "Well, we intend on dating her, and if all three of us enjoy spending time with each other then I'd hope that we all got married."
"Marriage." Garp echoed the word, teeth clenched together, eye twitching madly, "And why her? Is there any reason I should be aware of?"
Roger bit his lip and decided to stay quiet.
(Telling his most powerful rival that his daughter was hot and terrifying and Roger would thank her if she broke his spine probably wouldn't go over well.)
Rayleigh was the one to speak up, "Garp, your daughter... well to put it simply, she's amazing. Not many petty officers will walk up to a man with a billion berri bounty on his head and ask him to play poker with her. She's gorgeous, too, and can drink enough to fill a well."
Garp froze in his anger, his haki finally letting up.
"We started talking because she wanted to play a game of poker with us. We did not know she was your daughter at the time, so if you're worried that we approached her just so we could hurt you, then don't be. We also aren't that cruel." Rayleigh soothed.
The marine gave him a heavy look, eyes searching for a sign of a single lie. Then, the air around them finally let up, allowing everyone to breathe again. "Good. Rouge is an amazing person and she would be very unhappy if I turned you both in, so I'll just leave you with a promise."
Both Roger and Rayleigh straightened at the serious tone the man took.
"Hurt her in a way that matter, use her or break her heart or treat her with less respect than one would give a table and I will not hesitate to drag you to the deepest level of Impel Down and make sure you rot there for the rest of your days. Do you understand?" Garp hissed.
"Yes sir." Both men nodded sharply.
"Good." Garp turned, clearly about to leave. He then paused and looked back, "And stop filling her head with pirate ideas!"
With him gone, the entire crew of the Oro Jackson took a relaxed breath.
"You slept with the daughter of Garp The Fist?!" Crocus shouted.
Roger sputtered, "Well yeah! She's amazing and beautiful and she could kill me with a flick of her wrist."
He practically swooned before grabbing his boyfriend and pressing a kiss on his cheek.
"As amazing, beautiful, and terrifying as you."
Rayleigh did not blush. He totally did not.
(Liar.)

“Koala, can you come here for a second?” Dragon called out and Koala immediately paused in her paperwork.
She noted how they were the only two in the room, and she couldn’t help but wonder what this was about.
Did he figure out that she punched the wall so hard it broke and covered it up with a poster?
Or maybe he figured out that she had been the one stealing all the steam buns from the cafeteria?
“Need something, sir?” Koala asked, intertwining her fingers together in order to hide her nervousness.
“I have heard rumors that you have a special relationship with the Chief of Staff.” Dragon said casually as he sat down in front of her.
Koala blinked. That was what this was about? “Uh- yes. Is that against the rules or are we doing something inappropriate-”
“Oh, I’m not trying to talk to you as your boss. I’m talking to you as the father of your boyfriend.” Dragon soothed.
It took a few seconds for Koala to really process that. “You and Sabo… he’s your son?!”
She was dating her boss’s son, she was dating her boss’s son, she was dating her boss’s son-
“Oh my god.” Koala hide her face in her hands.
“You haven’t done anything wrong.” He assured awkwardly. “You and Sabo haven’t done anything wrong and I’m not going to punish you for it. I just wanted to talk to you about my standards for my son's dates.”
“...standards?” Koala asked softly.
“I just want you to promise that you’ll treat him right.” Dragon said.
Koala couldn’t help but giggle. Her boss is sitting her down and giving her the shovel talk. The awkward tension in the air makes it even funnier. “I promise not to do anything to Sabo sir.”
“You’re- uh- aloud to do stuff with him.” Dragon rubbed the back of his neck. “Just try not to do anything that will make him cry.”
Koala laughed. She had no idea her boss could be so awkward. “Promise sir.”
“Good. Well, now that’s over, we’re having a family dinner next week and I’d like to formally invite you since I know my son won’t.” Dragon offered his hand to her and she took it, shaking it.
“I think I’ll take you up on that offer sir.” Koala grinned.
“And I should probably warn you that my father can be… a lot so to say.” He pursed his lips.
Koala stood up and pumped her fist into the air. “Don’t worry sir! I’ll make sure he accepts me no matter what. By the time I’m done, he’ll love me as a granddaughter.”
The world’s worst criminal gave her a small smile. “I wish you luck with that Koala and I’ll be rooting for you.”
“Hey Koala, guess who got some steam- hi Dragon.” Sabo paused mid-way through the doorway.
“You.” Dragon narrowed his eyes. “You’re the one stealing all the steam buns.”
“W-What?!” Sabo squeaked. “No! No! The cafeteria lady will tell you that I paid for these! I have no idea who's been stealing them.”
“Right.” Dragon deadpanned.
She watched the duo begin to bicker and she couldn’t help but be excited about meeting the rest of the Monkey Family.

Trafalgar D Water Law fiddled with his shirt once more and mentally cursed himself for agreeing to this. Luffy’s offer of meeting his family at their family reunion had caught him off guard and he’d just said yes out of panic.
To be completely honest, the idea of meeting Luffy’s family again made him mentally exhausted but seeing the other captain’s bright smile made any reservations he had died on his tongue.
The Party Bar was a small building, yet the volume coming from it would make you believe it could fit a whole crowd of people. Luffy confidently pushed open the door, greeting his family with a loud shout of, “Makino, meat!”
The barmaid giggled. “Coming right up Luffy.”
“Anchor, you’re here!” Shanks cheered, raising a mug to him.
“And it appears you brought a guest,” Sabo noted, glowering at Law.
“Yup! Everyone, this is my boyfriend, Law! He’s the one who saved me back in Marineford and helped us all escape.” Luffy grinned, grabbing Law and pushing him forward. The temperature in the room dropped a few degrees and Law felt a shiver rush down his spine.
He was in a room with some of the most dangerous people in the world and he was currently dating one of their youngest members. The odds of Law walking out of this room alive were very very low.
“Really?” Roger asked, seemingly unaware of the sudden mood change as he offered Law a drink. “In that case, come and sit down and properly introduce yourself!”
It felt more like he was walking into a den full of lions than a bar. As he took a seat next to Luffy, he could feel multiple pairs of eyes on him and he tried to ignore the prickling sensation.
The barmaid, Makino he recalled, gave him a gentle smile. “And what can I get for you?”
“Anything without bread in it please.” Law forced out.
(He thinks he’s at least a little justified in being terrified by most of the people in this room. He knows all too well that any one of them could kill him where he stood.)
Makino nodded and turned away, and he felt a warm hand clap him on the shoulder. Ace was giving him a huge, devilish grin, “So, Trafalgar, how long have been going out with my little bro?”
“Oh, me and him have been going out for months now!” Luffy announced, wrapping his arms around Law and resting his chin on the taller man’s shoulder.
“A month.” Law corrected.
“No, since we started all the way back in Punk Hazard-”
“No, we started our alliance in Punk Hazard.”
“But that’s basically the same thing as marriage so-”
“What? No, it’s not.” Law gave his boyfriend a puzzled expression.
“Wait, wait, you started a pirate alliance?” Shanks squawked.
“Yes?” For some reason, Law had a bad feeling about this.
Shanks looked around the bar which had gone very quiet before turning back to Law. “Okay, so when Anchor was younger-”
“-We told him an alliance was a union of two people.” Sabo continued.
“And we also told him a marriage is a union between two people.” Rouge drawled, looking highly amused at the situation. “So he thought that ‘alliance’ and ‘marriage’ were the same things, just interchangeable words.”
“That’s ‘cause they are,” Luffy announced as Makino set a plate down in front of him. “Meat!”
“So when I asked Luffy-ya for an alliance… he thought I was asking him to marry me?!” Law cried.
The bar busted out into laughter. “Oh man, I was super pissed about you dating my brother, but honestly now I just kinda feel bad for you.” Ace wheezed.
“Well, I don't.” Garp seethed. “Why can’t any of my descendants marry marines- or hell, just someone who isn’t a pirate!”
“I’m not a pirate Garp-san.” Koala raised her hand and smiled demurely.
Garp glowered at her. “Okay, why can’t my kids date people who aren’t criminals?! Am I really asking too much?!”
The bar burst into another fit of laughter and Law felt himself relax. However, Crocodile caught his eye. “You probably know how this conversation is going to go.” He whispered, just loud enough to be heard over the roar of laughter.
“I swear on my life that if I do anything to hurt Luffy-ya, I’ll cut my own heart out and throw it into the ocean.” Law placed a hand on his heart, meeting the man’s eye.
Crocodile gave him a quiet huff of a laugh. “In that case, welcome to the family kid.”
He raised him a glass, and without a moment of hesitation, Law raised his to meet it.
(The Monkey Family was insane, but they were also incredibly warm and loving. Sitting there, in a small rundown, surrounded by laughter and cheering and affection, Law felt like he was a part of a family again.)
-
Buggy stared.
The kid stared even harder.
“If you hurt Shanks, I’ll kill you,” Luffy stated, giving Buggy a very intimidating glower.
A bead of sweat trickled down Buggy’s neck, “How the hell do you know about that?”
“Shanks is my dad,” Luffy said breezily, waving his hand as if to dismiss Buggy’s question.
Well.
Shit.
“You’re my boyfriend’s son.” Buggy said, mournfully.
He knew that Shanks and Luffy had some connection, seeing as how there was the whole hat thing and Shanks often visited Roger on Dawn, where Luffy also lived, it would have been impossible for them to not at least be friends.
But he didn’t think their bond was like this!
“I am,” Luffy confirmed, shattering any hope Buggy had. “Which means we’ll have to get along, ‘cause Shanks loves us both.”
His boyfriend’s kid was the most insane pirate that Buggy had ever had the displeasure of meeting (which was saying a lot since he sailed with Roger for so many years.)
And now he had to get along with said kid who was nothing but a thorn in his side every time they met!
Not to mention that Mugiwara’s eye had a gleam to it, a certain mania that made Buggy very afraid.
If Buggy hurt Shanks, then Buggy would die.
That was just how fate would go.
(Not that he had any intention of hurting Shanks, but it was nice to have that extra motivator to not strangle his boyfriend whenever the man was being stupid.)
-
(Monkey D. Garp didn't grow up with a large family. Just a mother and a cousin.
He never really intended on having a large family, maybe just a wife and a kid.
Yet fate worked against that idea, and now here he stands, staring down at a family photo with a look of indescribable pride on his face.
His family was big and loud and full of so many strange people.
And yet, he loved them all with everything his heart had to offer.)
