Teacher: Very nice work. And how is working with your partner?
Young Ruby: No prob. We're practically best friends now.
Teacher: Then I think you'll do just fine in this class. [Walks off.]
Young Ruby: [Proudly.] You've done it again, Ruby
[Two students then walk in. One of them, the dark-haired boy, is holding two books between his armpits as he listens to his friend speaking.]
Dark-haired student: You just.. didn't do the assignment?
Orange-haired student: I got the silver eyed to do it for me. And all I had to do was pretend to be her friend. Hmm?
[Someone sniffles, which is revealed to be Ruby, upset that someone only used her to do the assignment. She runs away in tears.]
Orange-haired student: Aw, come on, pipsqueak! It was just a joke!
[Present day]
Ruby: (clearing her throat, She gestures to everyone at the table.) Sisters... friends... Weiss.
Weiss: (offscreen) Hey!
Ruby: Four score and seven minutes ago, I had a dream.
Yang: This ought to be good.
Ruby: A dream that one day, the four of us will come together, as a team, and have the most fun anyone has ever had... ever!
Weiss: Did you steal my binder?
Ruby: (Ruby makes "peace" signs with both hands.) I am not a crook.
Blake: What are you talking about?
Ruby: I'm talking about kicking off our break with a bang! (She points her finger at Blake.)
Yang: I always kick my breaks off with a Yang! Eh? Guys? Am I right?
Nora: (offscreen) Boooooooooooooooo!
Ruby: Look guys, it's been a good two weeks and between more exchange students arriving and the tournament at the end of the year, our second semester is going to be great! But, were on break since we saved the kingdom! Which is why I've taken the time to schedule a series of wonderful events for us today.
Weiss: I don't know whether to be proud or scared of what you have in store.
Yang: Let's not forget that your birthday is coming up little sis.
Ruby: Yeah. My birthday. I'm hoping that uncle Qrow can visit for my birthday.
Yang: I got a text from him yesterday, He said he'll make it you your birthday, he might arrive a bit early.
Ruby: Really?! I can't wait to hang out with him when he gets here!
Yang: Me too!
Ironwood: [From speakers.] Students, please join me in the auditorium for an important announcement.
Yang: Well.. let's see what's happening there.
[An hour later]
Cinder: I have questions for you.
She holds the red cloth out to a Grimm, whose only features shown are its large jaw. It sniffs the cloth and opens its gaping maw slightly.
Cinder: But first I need the one person who will ruin our plans eliminated, Kill the silver eyed girl.
The Grimm growls menacingly. Emerald, Mercury, and Adam watch in the distance.
[Ruby's scroll is buzzing. Luz grabs her scroll.]
Ruby: [Gasps.]
[She sits up. Cut to a close-up shot of Ruby's scroll saying "Event Reminder to call Uncle Qrow". Ruby stares at her scroll, then ignores the event reminder.]
[Ruby starts texting Penny under her username, P3N-3.]
Ruby: [From text.] Are you good now?
Ruby: [From text.] Is Ironwood evil?? You can tell me!
Ruby: [From text.] Also hi!
Ruby: [From text.] It's Ruby!
Ruby: [From text.] [Rose emoji.]
Penny: [From text.] LEAVE.ME ALONE
Penny: [From text.] sORry.wrong.person .,.
Yang: So now that we're on break from literally saving a whole kingdom from Grimm, what do you all wanna do?
Ruby: They're setting up Halloween decorations!
Weiss: I can see that.
Blake: The Vale Brawl is the one cool thing my dad did before creating the White Fang. It would've been nice to share something with him.
Jaune: The Vale Brawl?
Yang: I remember that, I saw a few matches, but Dad does have a belt from one of them.
Ruby: Or, we could take some missions and split up.
Blake: That does sounds like a good idea.
Yang: Yeah the mission board says that there's a horde of Grimm in sector's 7 inside of the kingdom.
Ruby: Then it's decided. Let's split up and slay some Grimm!
[Later]
Ruby: (Contacts Glynda with a sigh) Okay, Glynda. That’s one more problem taken care of.
Glynda: Good, cause we’re getting reports of more Grimm coming in from the west. The Huntsmen there could really use some backup.
Ruby sighs as she slumps in her seat.
Ruby: Okay. We’re on our way.
Ren: It’s all the negativity. The Grimm outside the kingdom aren't moving in, but it’s enough to start attracting the stragglers from Torchwick's little train incident.
Blake: Guys, we’re not finished.
Ruby: All right. We need to hurry this up and take-
The Beowulf's look to their right before turning back and running in the opposite direction.
Ren: What just happened?
Blake: They ran. I’ve never seen Grimm act that way before.
Ruby: But what were they running fro-
[Ruby is suddenly tackled from above by the Grimm originally perched on the bridge, dubbed by The Hound, knocking both her and Ren off the bike. Ruby tries to stand up only to be bitten by the arm and get flung to the ground once more.]
Ren: Ruby!
[The Grimm pounces on Ruby with all its weight, causing her aura to shatter. Ruby tries to kick one of it's legs away, only for The Hound to bite it knock her to the ground a third time. With a final swipe with its paw, she goes unconscious.]
[The Hound howls, before its body begins to twitch and spasm. It's body pulses and morphs, as Blake looks on in horror. The Hound stands up, revealing that he assumed a bipedal form in order to lift and hold the unconcious Ruby with one hand.]
[Blake finally wakes up from her stupor and charges the beast, preparing to punch it.]
Blake: Ruby!
[A crow flies determinedly toward the fray while The Hound kicks Blake back and then Ren]
[The incoming crow turns into Qrow Branwen who keeps running forward after landing.]
Blake: So much for a relaxing vacation!
The Hound approaches the unconscious Ruby on the ground and raises it's claws, The Hound is about to strike when Qrow bursts through a building and inserts himself between them, holding his weapon behind his back. There's a metallic noise as The Hounds claws hit against Qrow's weapon and clips into the blade. Qrow makes eye contact with the unconscious Ruby and looks back at The Hound.
Blake: Is that... Her uncle Qrow?
