Chapter Text
Donatello finally finished what he had been working on for the last few months! It was something that he tried to keep a secret from his brothers, not wanting them to know about it just yet. He said in his mind that they wouldn't understand, and honestly, he didn't want to have to try to explain it to them. Michelangelo made it hard to work at times, often coming to bother him while Leonardo and Raphael would sometimes poke their heads in to check on him.
He told them that he was fine, that he was just busy with things, but they never seemed to quite believe him. Troublesome... But, finally, after so long he finished it! He looks up at the portal with a bright grin, showing his gap, "Finally!" He laughs, cheering as he bounced up and down. He was so proud of himself! He made this out of trash! He's amazing. He's awesome! He's gonna turn it on.
Walking over to where the plug-in was, he lifts it up and plugs it up, pushing the button. The machine, portal, started to make sounds as it tried to turn on, lights flickering before everything went dark. Donatello's eyes widen and he looks around quickly. Oh no. Did... ohhhh no.
"Donnie!" He heard making him yelp. "I didn't do anything!" He shouts back, even though he knew that he did. Guess it took too much power to start? He walks over, restarting to power causing the lights to flicker back on, and he sighs looking at the portal with a small frown on his face. Here he thought that it would work the first test.
With a shake of his head, he walks out of the lab, to go and tell his brothers that the power was fine and that he didn't do anything to cause it to go out. They would still most likely blame him, expected, since it was pretty much his fault...
It was his fault.
A few minutes after he left the portal started to flicker again, before turning on fully. A swirly purple glow formed in the circle. Faint sounds could be heard on the other side, the sound of rushing water and faint talking.
