Notes:

Hello everybody! This is my first ever story so please be kind to me. This has not been beta read and there are most likely grammar mistakes since English isn´t my first language. If you have any constructive feedback, I´d really appreciate it! I´m posting chapters as I´m able to write them, I´m doing my degree at the same time so sometimes it might take a while for me to upload.

Chapter Text

Jungkook woke up with a gasp. His head fucking hurt. He brought his hand to his forehead and felt a gauze where his left eyebrow would have ended. Pressure of his hand on the wound sent out a throbbing pain and Jungkook let out a small whine. He had no idea what had happened or where he was. He struggled to keep his eyes open, his head was spinning, and he felt nauseous. His breathing was starting to get erratic, and he felt a panic attack kicking in.

“Focus on my voice bunny.”

It was his mothers voice playing in his head. “Breath in and out, you are doing great sweetie.”

Jungkook took ragged breaths, trying to calm himself down. Tears started to well up in his eyes, it had been a long time since his mother had been granted a permission to speak with her son, Jungkook hadn’t heard his mothers voice for a long time. He hadn’t felt the softness of her body around him in a hug for ages. It was the thought of his mother nesting with him that started to calm Jungkook down. He took slow breaths, trying to calm his uneven heart.

Once his breathing had steadied, he started take in the room surrounding him. It wasn’t big but it looked cozy. Warm neutral colors of brown welcomed him in, last rays of sunshine shining through the sheer curtains hitting Jungkook’s legs, warming them up nicely. A shelf next to the window on his right side and a door on his left. There was another door in front of him, probably leading to a closet or a bathroom.

Jungkook looked at the pictures on top of the shelf. Various pictures of six men hugging each other, smiling, and looking happy. Jungkook’s house had no pictures, except for one painting of his grandfather, looking strictly ahead. Jungkook had always felt intimidated by the painting. He had never met his grandfather but the resemblance with his father was uncanny. Jungkook wondered if his grandfather had been as cruel as his father was.

The room around him didn’t look or smell anything like home. Oh right... He didn’t have a home anymore. His place as a first born son at his parents house was taken from him after he refused to marry the Alpha his father had chosen to be his mate.

Exiled.

Banished.

That is what he was. He was never to see his mother or little brother again. Memory of his little brother, Junghyun, brought tears in his eyes. He was always the one to protect his little brother from his fathers’ temper and ill ways. Taking all the blame and beating for whatever reason his father saw fit. His mother was too weak to protect them. She was the epitome of a perfect omega, submissive, subdued… She had resigned her rights to free will when she married their father.

The early years of Jungkook’s childhood hadn’t been awful, he remembers his father being there for him. Junghyun was born couple years after him and everything was going great… until Jungkook presented. The expectation was that he was going to be an alpha, being the first born and everything. There was an immensely pressure on him and when he presented omega, he felt like he had let down everybody.

Especially his father.

His mother tried to assure him that everything was okay, that he was loved as he is. But his father thought otherwise.

That’s when the beatings started, whatever small mistake Jungkook made, he was punished for it like he had committed a serious crime. Once he dropped a spoon during dinner and received such a bad beating for it that he couldn’t sit for a week. That’s when his mother would sneak into Jungkook´s room to rub ointment on his aching bottom and snuggle with him in his nest.

Junghyun presented as an omega couple years later and that’s when their father had gotten so enraged, that he had beaten up their mother, yelling that she was useless for providing him with two omega sons. Jungkook had tried to step in and help his mother but was hit so badly that he woke up only couple hours later, being held by his mother crying in his bed.

Jungkook shivered at the thought of his brother being subjected to this cruelty with having nobody to protect him from it. Wherever he was, he had to get out and help his brother. That’s all he could think about when he stumbled out of the bed, legs giving up under him sending him into a dive towards the floor. All Jungkook could think about when he hit the floor was his brother all alone, scared and wondering if he would ever see Jungkook again.

Floor was unrelenting with its impact, and it knocked the air out of Jungkook´s lungs. The noise must have alerted the people inside the house, since he could hear footsteps coming closer to the room. Jungkook tried to back away from the door when it opened and six men came tumbling in.

Jungkook observed the same six men from the pictures, more beautiful than he could have ever imagined. First one, a tall alpha, almost fell when he entered the room. Jungkook could smell the alerted pheromones that he was releasing and shivered. He curled into a ball and started rocking himself front and back. A shorted omega pushed in his way to a room and started scolding the alpha.

“Get away from him Joon, can´t you see that his terrified?” Joon lifted his hands as sign of surrender and backed away from Jungkook.

“Sorry, I didn’t think this through, did I? Let’s give them some space.” He ushered everybody to leave the room and rest of the men obeyed him.

The omega offered Jungkook a smile and closed the door.

“I´m sorry about that little one, we got worried when we heard the noise… You were already injured, and we didn’t want you to hurt yourself more.” He paused and looked at Jungkook. “Are you okay sweetie?”

“M´not little…” Jungkook mumbled.

The blond omega had a questioning look on his face, he didn’t quite hear what the other omega said.

“I´m sorry sweetie, I didn’t hear you, can you repeat for me?” Jungkook furrowed his brows, not being used to talked so sweetly. That send an impulse of pain through his head, and he clasped his forehead wincing in pain.

“Ahhh…” He cried, releasing distressed pheromones. The blond was in front of him at instant holding Jungkook’s arm.

“What’s wrong, does your head hurt?” Jungkook tried to nod his head but the pain was too much. So instead of that what he could muster was a small whine, but the other omega seemed to understand it.

He helped Jungkook up from the floor into the bed. Jungkook appreciated the omegas company, something soothing about the way he smelled. It reminded him of his brother.

The blond fluffed the pillows and set them under Jungkook´s head. Then he covered Jungkook´s body with a soft blanket.

“You hit your head pretty badly, you are lucky that we found you. Jin hyung is a doctor and we had MRI scan taken from your head just in case. There was nothing wrong fortunately.”

Jungkook looked him with big doe eyes. “How long was I out?” He asked quietly.

The other man frowned a little bit, like he was trying to find the right words. “You were out almost a day, we found you in the morning and it´s night now.”

Jungkook´s eyes widened. “I don’t remember anything…” he whispered.

The blond looked sad, a small sigh escaping from his lips. “That’s okay little one, your memory will come back over time. I assure you that you are safe with us during that time.” After a small silence, he clasped his hands, “You must be hungry, Yoongi hyung made soup, I’ll go and get it for you!” he started to slip out of the bed but was stopped by Jungkook holding his sweater sleeve.

“Please don’t go” he pleaded. “I don’t want to be alone.”

The blond man stopped his tracks and looked at the hand holding him. A smile spread on his lips, and he sat back on the bed.

“I won´t go anywhere.” he whispered. “Do you want to tell me your name little one?”

Jungkook looked him in the eyes, and he felt like he could trust the man, he reminded him so much of his little brother. So, with doe eyes wide open he said, “My name is Jungkook.”

The blond smiled and said, “Nice to meet you Jungkook, my name is Jimin. We are all very happy to have you here.”

Chapter 2

Summary:

Jungkook musters his courage to go downstairs for breakfast and finds out, that not all alphas are like his father.

Chapter Text

Jimin stayed by Jungkook’s side the whole time, releasing calming pheromones, that made the other omegas eyes flutter instantly.

“You smell so nice. Like my little brother…”

Jimin smiled and hummed, petting Jungkook´s head, “I´m glad to hear that, are you close with your brother?”

Jungkook sighed, eyes starting to water again. “We are… we were, I can´t see him anymore.”

Jimin raised his eyebrows, “Why can’t you see him anymore?” he asked but Jungkook had already drifted to sleep. The last thing he heard was Jimin’s distant voice asking something, but he wasn’t sure what.

Rest of the men waited Jimin downstairs in the kitchen, restless to hear news about their guest. I took only half an hour to Jungkook fall asleep again and Jimin to come downstairs.

“He was out like a candle.” Jimin sighed. He sat next to Jin on a barstool and covered his head with his hands. Jin rubbed his back in big circular motions.

“I knew there was something wrong the minute you brought him in.” He explained what Jungkook had said and received concerned looks from the others.

“Is he running away from something?” Hoseok asked. He and Namjoon shared a look, they really had to investigate the matter. As pack leader it was his job to keep them safe and if Jungkook was in danger, it could mean that the whole pack was in danger too and it made Hoseok extremely anxious.

Jungkook was attacked with a purpose. He had captured Hoseok´s eye the minute he departed the train.  Hoseok had watched skittish kid walk towards an alleyway where the attacker was waiting for him. As soon as Hoseok realized what was happening, he ran towards the kid yelling him to stop but it was too late. The attacker hit him with a bottle and bolted off before Hoseok could reach them. People around him didn’t seem to care what was happening, a lone omega wasn’t worthy of their attention.

Hoseok scooped the kid up from the ground and ran towards their home. They didn’t live too far from the centrum, so he reached their home in five minutes. Luckily Jin was still home, being so early in the morning. They took the kid to Jin´s clinic and ran some tests. A little bit of swelling in the brain, nothing too serious. They had him observed the day and brought him back home during the evening.

The whole pack had been home when they finally arrived Jungkook sleeping on Hoseok´s arms. Taehyung had been first to greet them.

“Hyung! You´re finally home, what took you so long?” Taehyung approached them with a wide boxy smile and arms open, but as soon as their maknae noticed the sleeping man on Hoseok´s arms, he stopped his tracks. “Who’s this hyung?” he asked tilting his head. “Why is his head bleeding?”

Jin and Hoseok looked at each other, not really having planned out how to tell their pack that they were having a visitor for a while.

“I found him near the train tracks, he was attacked but the attacker escaped. We had him tested at Jin´s clinic and he should be fine, just needs a little sleep.”

“He´s beautiful,” Taehyung sighed reaching to pet the man’s head. “I´ll make the guest room ready for him!” And with that he left, rushing upstairs.

The ruckus had alerted the rest of the pack from their tasks and they gathered around the pack alpha.

“He´s an omega” Yoongi pointed out.

“An omega you say?” chimed in Jimin, exited to have another omega in the house. “Can we keep him, hyung?”

Hoseok smiled and shook his head, “It´s not our decision to make baby, you know it. If he wants to stay then we´ll be happy to welcome him in but I don’t want you to get your hopes up too soon.”

A small pout formed to Jimin´s lips as he crossed his arms. “I know hyung, it´s just so lonely sometimes without another omega around… I just wish we could finally find one that fits with us”

Namjoon wrapped his arms around Jimin´s delicate features and gave a kiss to the back of his head. “It will happen when it´s meant to,” Namjoon assured. Jimin sighed and leaned back to Namjoon´s embrace.

“What if you go help Taehyung to set the guest room ready and hyung will make you your favorite food, huh?” asked Yoongi.

A smile returned to Jimin´s lips as he hurried to upstairs to help Taehyung out. Rest of the pack stared at the man sleeping soundly.

“I´m afraid they´ll get too attached and end up getting hurt.” Jin whispers. “You know how they are.”

They all looked at the stairs, knowing how eagerly their maknaes were getting ready for their guest.

“We just have to monitor the situation and make sure they know that this might be temporarily.” They looked at each other seriously before moving into their own tasks.

Jungkook woke up with a slight headache, nothing like last night though. He yawned and looked around the room. Jimin was gone but Jungkook hadn’t expected him to stay the whole night anyway.

His stomach rumbled loudly; he was really hungry, it had been over 24 hours before he had last eaten something. Jungkook sat up, throwing his legs over the bed, and trying carefully if they would manage to hold his weight. He deemed his legs steady enough and walked to the door in front of him, expecting to find a bathroom on the other side. He used the toilet and washed his hands. He was drying his hands carefully when he realized that he was stalling time. Even though having met the pack last night, Jungkook was still extremely nervous.

His experience with alphas were limited to his father and all the helpers at their house had been betas who weren’t allowed to talk with Jungkook. So, he had a limited knowledge on how other sub genders functioned and what kind of pack dynamics were. Suddenly, he felt himself very small and naïve, he wasn’t taught these things at homeschool, how was he supposed to know? Jungkook´s train of thoughts were disturbed by the knocking of the door.

“It´s me, Jimin. Are you ready to come downstairs for breakfast?”

Jungkook took a deep breath and opened the door, “I´m ready Jimin.”

“Oh, call me hyung, I assume that you are younger than me?” Jimin smiled.

“I was born 1997," Jungkook murmurs.

“1995."

Jimin offered a reassuring smile and they started descending the stairs. They reached the kitchen a little bit faster than Jungkook would have wanted.

“Jin hyung is at work already, he´s sad that he couldn’t meet you before leaving but you´ll meet him during the dinner. Namjoon and Hoseok left to do something…” Jimin frowned.

But the frown was gone faster than it had appeared, “You´re going to love Yoongi hyung´s cooking, he´s the best.”

Jungkook was confused “But isn’t Yoongi an alpha?” he blurted out.

Jimin looked at him and hummed “Yeah, he gets that a lot, we aren’t so stuck up with the traditions. Hyung loves cooking and he´s a stay-at-home dad basically at this point.” Jimin giggled.

Jungkook thought about his own father, he would never. It was an omegas job to cook, clean and take care of the pups.

“Yah, respect your elders.” Yoongi emerged with an apron tied in front of him. Jimin waltzed up to him and gave a kiss to his cheek. Jungkook blushed and averted his gaze. He wasn’t used to public gestures of affection. To be honest, he wasn’t that used to affection at all, knowing only what his mother had shown him.

“Ahem, you are making our guest uncomfortable” said Taehyung mouth full of pancakes.

Jimin blushed and stepped away from Yoongi. “Jungkook, this is Taehyung, he´s also your hyung.”

Jungkook took in the brown locks and sultry voice and blushed a little “Nice to meet you, Taehyung.”

“Pleasure is all mine. Come on, have a seat next to me, hyung made us some pancakes!”

Jungkook sat down on a bar stool and looked at the sight in front of him, his mouth starting to water. No matter how hungry he was, he still remember what he was taught. He was a good boy and would wait until the alpha would have taken his servings.

Three pairs of eyes were on him instantly.

“What´s wrong, you don’t like pancakes?” Yoongi asked, “I can make you something else if you want to?”

Jungkook ducked his head down looking confused, “No, no, they look heavenly, I was just waiting for alpha to eat first…”

A beat of silence passed.

Jungkook looked up and saw three disgusted faces and his scent starting to soure in distress.

“I´m sorry alpha, I didn’t mean to upset you.”

Yoongi´s face smoothed and he sighed, “Oh no little one, I´m not mad at you, I´m mad at the one who gave you the idea that you are less worthy than alphas. That’s not how we do things here so dig in, you must be starving.”

Jungkook looked at Yoongi and smiled, maybe some alphas were different after all.

Chapter Text

“What do you mean you lost him?” a loud voice echoed in the hall.

A man was bowing in front of him apologizing profusely.

“I´m sorry sir, I followed him like you asked me to and was just about to capture him when somebody interrupted us, sir. I tried to follow them but lost their tracks… It´s like he disappeared into thin air, sir.”

“Tsk, I should have known I couldn’t trust you, you incompetent useless…” The man scrabbled his chin. His son had already ruined his own reputation by refusing his suitor and he couldn’t let him tarnish the whole family´s name. He still had a son that needed a reputable alpha and damned be if he´d let Jungkook´s little antics ruin that.

“You have one week to find him, bring him to me and I make sure that your dept is repaid and you and your family can live in peace.” his voice stern and relentless. “But if you can´t find him, I´ll make sure that you won´t be here to see your family´s downfall. How will they survive without you?”

The bowing man lifted his head and was met with cold stare.

“I must say that your daughter is quite the beauty, I bet I could make good money with her”

He watched as the man´s face stretched in horror as the meaning of his words sank in.

“Sir I…” he stuttered, “I promise I will find him and bring him back to you!”

The man waved his hand in dismiss and the other man bolted up and hurried out of the room without looking back.

Jungkook had never held a console in his life, he hadn’t been granted with the little pleasures of life. He watched in awe as Taehyung jumped and ducked the obstacles, bright colors flashing on the screen.

“You try now,” Taehyung declared and gave a nudge on Jungkook´s shoulder.

“I don’t know how this works, hyung…” Jungkook confessed.

“It´s okay, I´ll teach you” Taehyung fixes him with an easy grin. “You see that button? Press it and your character will jump. See, just like that…”

It took Jungkook fifteen minutes to get ahold of the game and they were happily playing when Hoseok and Namjoon returned home.

“We´re home, who missed us?” Hoseok greeted cheerfully.

Jungkook lifted his head up from the game, his face falling a little bit. He was just getting comfortable with Yoongi´s presence and now he was facing two more alphas. Namjoon was intimidating him, even though he hadn’t given him any reason to be vary. Jungkook started to feel his instincts going overdrive.

“Hyunggg, you´re disturbing Kookie.” Taehyung whined. “See, he can´t focus at all.” Taehyung pointed at the came over sign on the screen.

“Is that so baby,” Hoseok chuckled and fixed them with a fond, amused look.

Jungkook was fidgeting on his seat, he had never heard somebody talk back to pack alpha and he feared what was going to happen. But much to his surprise, Hoseok walked over to Taehyung and ruffled his hair.

“Did you and Kookie have fun today?” he asked leaning in to give a kiss against Taehyung´s temple. Taehyung emitted a soothing, rumbling purr as he leaned in to gently nuzzle Hoseok´s cheek.

Jungkook was observing their behavior, baffled by how gentle they were together and how naturally their endearment game in. He felt a bang in his heart when he realized that he wanted to be there in Taehyung´s place receiving affectionate kisses. He had to suppress a whine as he pushed himself up to his feet and fled to upstairs.

He could hear Taehyung´s surprised yelp as he was fleeing to his room. Jungkook closed the door and tried to steady his breath. He had no right to feel these feelings, they weren’t his pack. They were just helping him until he got his memory back, he couldn’t get attached to them.

Jungkook had this void inside that was never to be filled. He didn’t have the right to a happy ending. But still he dreamed, what if there was a person or a pack for him that would accept him as he was. What if they saw him as Jungkook rather than just as an omega?

Jungkook had known from the young age that he didn’t want pups. He wanted to achieve other things in life and not just stay home taking care of the house and pups. Not that there was anything wrong with wanting to do that, it just wasn’t for Jungkook. His father had told that there was something wrong with him when Jungkook had blurted out that he wanted to pursue a career in engineering. That wasn’t an omegas job. His father had a very black and white picture of life and what every sub gender was supposed to do. So, he tried his best to mold young Jungkook´s view of life to fit his own philosophy.

A knock on the door disturbed Jungkook´s thoughts.

“May I come in Jungkook?” It was Hoseok. Jungkook contemplated on declining the request but deemed it rude, it was their house after all.

“Come in,” he whispered. He sat down on a bed fidgeting his fingers, feeling extremely nervous. Hoseok opened the door and entered the room.

“Thank you for letting me in,” his tone soothing. Hoseok closed in the bed and stopped in front of the omega. “Did we do something to upset you little one?” he asked with a soft voice.

Jungkook blinked in surprise. Hoseok wasn’t mad at him for leaving without permission, he sounded concerned about Jungkook if anything. If Jungkook would have been brave enough to look at Hoseok, he would have seen a frown creasing Hoseok´s brown as he looked at Jungkook.

“Ah no alpha… it was my fault; I shouldn’t have left so suddenly. I´m sorry.”

Hoseok´s eyes narrowed ever so slightly as he listened to the boy.

“There´s nothing to apologize Jungkook.” Hoseok sighed. “I should be the one to apologize, we shouldn’t have made you uncomfortable with our behavior. It´s just we are so used to you being here already that we forget that you might not be as comfortable with us.”

Jungkook sniffled, wanting nothing more than to lean into the pack alpha and let his calming pheromones sooth his aching heart.

Hoseok lowered himself so he could look Jungkook from below. He petted Jungkook´s cheek and whispered, “Pup, tell me what´s wrong.”

Jungkook shuddered, dams starting to break. “I´m sorry alpha, I shouldn’t have left without a permission… I-I wasn’t sure if I was allowed to stay there when… you know.” Jungkook blushed.

“Left without permission…,” Hoseok echoes, a mildly exasperated look on his face. “Jungkook, I want you to understand that you don’t need a permission to do anything here. Alphas don’t have the right to control you, we are equal here. You don’t hear me asking permission to do things, do you?”

Jungkook´s confusion was probably showing on his face because Hoseok´s expression faded into something far grimmer. Jungkook decided to elaborate, “Yeah, but you are an alpha, you don’t have to ask for permission for anything, omegas have to.”

“No, they don’t, you just think they do because you were taught so,” Hoseok countered.

Jungkook flinched, “I´m not stupid,” he said while standing up. Hoseok had to get up to his feet and step back to give room for the omega. “That´s not what I meant, pup…” he started but Jungkook crossed his arms and cut him off, “I´d like to be alone, please.”

Hoseok tried to search for Jungkook´s gaze but Jungkook looked the other way.

“I´ll let you be, little one,” Hoseok sighed. He started exiting the room but turned at the door, “I didn’t mean to offend you, pup, I hope you know that.” Then the door closed and Jungkook was left alone.

He laid on the bed and stared at the ceiling. Little by little the tears started rolling down his cheeks. He cried the whole night while other´s stayed up and listened.

Chapter Text

Jungkook didn’t come downstairs for breakfast the next morning. He stayed in his bed curled up in his blush blanket staring blankly at the wall. He wasn’t sure of what was right and what was wrong anymore, the pack was so different from what he was taught, and it was hard to just let go of everything that was common to him.

Jungkook´s eyes trailed over to the pictures on top of the shelf, his look full of sorrow. Was he allowed to be happy and free like Hoseok had insinuated or was his father right? He teared his gaze away from the smiling faces as a sharp pain slit through his head. He bent over in pain, small whimpers escaping his mouth as he pressed his hands on the wound.

You have to run darling,” his mother whispered face laced with terror. She was looking behind her shoulder to make sure that nobody was listening to them “Go to the train station and board the train heading to the south, stay on the train for six stops and depart on the seventh. I have somebody waiting for you at the alleyway nearby the station…”

Jungkook gasped for air and looked around the room. The vision had been so vivid, like he had lived through it already. He could feel his mother´s hand on his shoulder and her breath on his ear. The terror in her voice and desperation in her eyes to save her first-born-son.

He remembers declining the alpha that his father had chosen for him, his father yelling at Jungkook, saying that he wasn’t his son anymore if he refused to go through with the marriage. Jungkook recalls leaving the dinner hall to go his own room, being so upset that he didn’t care about the table rules. He remembers his mother following him shortly after, being visibly shaken by something.

The pain had started to become unbearable, and he let out a full whimper while falling back on his bed, his apple and cinnamon scent souring in distress. The door to his room opened and Jin walked in with frown creasing his brows. He dropped the breakfast tray he was carrying and hurried to Jungkook.

“Baby, what´s wrong?” he asked delicately. “Is it your head, does it hurt again?”

Jungkook gave a little nod, still holding his head between his hands.

“It hurts so much, hyung…”

“It´s okay darling, let hyung help you up-“before he could finish his sentence, Jungkook went limb. Jin scooped him up on his arms and started to exit the room when Namjoon came in gasping for breath.

“I heard a noise hyung… is everything okay?” he huffed between breaths.

“No, it´s not okay… Jungkook´s head, it´s hurting. We have to take MRI pictures to make sure that there isn’t internal bleeding in his brain.” Namjoon glanced at the boy in Jin´s arms and gave him a curt nod.

“I´ll make sure the car is ready, hyung.”

“Thank you, Joon”

They got inside the car and drove off to Jin´s clinic. Jin sat on the backseat with unconscious Jungkook on his lap. Rest of the pack had wanted to come too, but Jin had refused them, telling it would be better for Jungkook to not have the whole pack suffocating him when he woke up.

When he woke up, not if. Jin was determined to get their baby pack in shape.

Their maknaes had been so scared, Taehyung had blamed himself for everything. If he hadn’t upset Jungkook the night before then maybe this wouldn’t have happened. Yoongi had wrapped Taehyung in his arms, whispering soothing words on his ear while Taehyung had hiccupped tearful sorries. A small growl was rumbling underneath Hoseok´s chest as the pack alpha was getting ready to confront Jin´s orders but look on Jin´s face stopped him.

“I promise I´ll bring him back safe,” he said eyes trailing over rest of the pack.

They reached the clinic in record time and went straight to the operation room.

“We need MRI scans stat.” Jin announced. People started running around preparing the patient for the pictures.

“I need you to step outside the room for the pictures,” nurse said while adjusting Jungkook on a mattress.

Namjoon was about to protest but Jin gave him a stern look and led them outside the room. He closed the door and turned to Namjoon.

“I know it´s not the best possible situation but I need to know if you and Hoseok found any glues about Jungkook´s attack?” Jin asked as soon as they were alone in the corridor.

Namjoon sighed and rubber his temples, all of this was going to give him a horrible migraine later.

“We went back to the alleyway that he was attacked in and found an elderly omega lady waiting for him,” he started, “apparently, she got an message that Jungkook would arrive one day later than planned. She didn’t think much of it at that time, but the letter was different than the ones she normally received… She used to be a maid for Jungkook´s grandmother and was expected to take care of Jungkook from now on. She wasn’t told why but she assumed that Jungkook would tell her the reason…”

Jin was growing visibly more concerned as Namjoon went on with his information.

“So, we don’t know why he left home?” Jin sighed.

Namjoon shook his head, “apparently Jungkook´s mother was extra careful not give in any information about it. Mrs. Lee gave us the contact information so we can write Mrs. Jeon ourselves.”

“That´s something,” he pointed out.

“Should we tell Jungkook what happened…?”

Jin looked grim for a moment, “I think we should keep this to ourselves until we know for sure what happened, we don’t want this to effect Jungkook´s recovery.” he stated, and Namjoon agreed.

“I don’t think we should tell the maknaes either, it will just worry them more than necessary.” Namjoon gave him a firm look and that was the end of their conversation.

They waited in the corridor until they were allowed back into the operation room. A radiologist came in to tell the results from Jungkook´s pictures, “Pictures look good, the swelling has gone down and there´s no sign of internal bleeding or clots.” he declares.

“Do you have any idea what the cause of his headaches might be?” Namjoon inquired.

“Hmm, he has experienced trauma… does he suffer from memory loss?” the doctor asked.

Jin and Namjoon looked at each other.

“Yes, he does, he doesn’t remember why he left home or where he was going."

“It´s possible that the pain could be related to his memories coming back to him, it is good to monitor his wellbeing and come in for a regular checkups. I would suggest to stay in for the night just in case something happens. Trauma on the head is always a high-risk.”

“Thank you doctor,” Jin said. He and Namjoon watched as Jungkook was transferred to a hospital bed and wheeled to a ward.

“I should inform the others that we must stay in for the night,” Namjoon declares and leaves the room to call Hoseok. Jin continues to pet Jungkook´s hair until his eyes flutter open.

“Hello there precious, you scared us for a second there,” he murmurs.

“Where am I?” sounds a hoarse voice. Jin smiles and takes Jungkook´s hand in his.

“You are at my clinic, you lost consciousness, so we had to bring you here for an examination. You are fine, don’t worry about that.”

“Thank you…” Jungkook whispers, “I don’t understand why you even help me, but I´m grateful.”

“Oh pup, there´s nothing in this world I wouldn’t do for you.”

Chapter Text

The three of them stayed in the clinic for the night. At first Jungkook was shy around Namjoon, he was unfamiliar alpha after all, but soon he noticed that the alpha was nothing more than a clumsy, thoughtful, gentle person. He learned that Namjoon loved his job, he was a children´s book writer and loved stories about equality and kindship. He also loved taking care of the plants in the house and patio, stating that without him they would perish to death. To that Seokjin rolled his eyes.

Jungkook found Namjoon very fascinating. His father had always told him that omegas traits in alpha were a sign of weakness, and those alphas were never desired in omegas eyes, but Jungkook thought differently. In his eyes, Namjoon was a great alpha, much better than the cold, uncaring picture of alpha that he had in his head. He must be wonderful with pups, Jungkook thought and blushed. He still wasn’t sure of the pack dynamics, were they all together or did they just like a lot of skin ship? Were all city pack like this… so openminded and accepting? Maybe Jungkook could find his place in the pack after all.

He was still confused about why he was here and where he was going before he ended up to Jung pack, but if he knew one thing, it was that he wasn’t going back home to his father. These people had shown him more kindness and acceptance during these couple of days than he had gotten from his father in his entire life. He wasn’t going to marry a traditional value alpha that his father had picked and become a pup machine that would bend over backwards to please his husband. He wanted to be equal to his mate or mates if he was lucky.

He should ask Jimin about the Jung pack, feeling a little bit more attached to the other omega. He probably hurt their feelings with his little antics the day before, he should apologize to them… But before that, he needed to talk with Hoseok. He was so rude to the pack alpha when the other had been nothing more than kind to him, letting him stay at their place helping him to heal. Jungkook felt ashamed, he was raised better than this.

Doctor deemed him good to go in the morning and they started their way back to the pack home. Jungkook had never seen what the city looked like, so he was hanging in the car window looking at the scenery in front of him.

“It´s beautiful, so much different than my hometown…” Jungkook admired the row of stone houses and the small parks in the middle.

“Where are you from Jungkook?” asked Namjoon sitting right next to him. Seokjin was driving this time, let´s just say it was safer that way.

“I´m from a small town in east, I have lived there my whole life and never been to city like this. Sometimes my mom would tell me stories about her childhood, she used to live in the city before she married my father.” Jungkook realized that he´d been rambling and closed his mouth. “Sorry, I talked too much…”

Seokjin looked at the rear-view mirror and said, “that´s okay baby, we love to know more things about you.” and Namjoon nodded his head.

Jungkook blushed, still not used to the pet names the pack was calling him. It felt was nice and made his heart flutter, but it also made him question if the pack would call just anybody with pet names or was he special to them? He felt a bang of jealousy in his heart thinking about Jimin calling somebody else darling or Yoongi cooking his amazing breakfast to another stranger. He tried to remind himself that he wasn’t part of the pack, but it was starting to get harder and harder the more he got to known to them.

They arrived at the pack home and Jungkook had never been this nervous in his entire life. He waited for Seokjin to open the door and expected him to reveal four angry hyungs. He stepped in looking at the ground and waited for the chastening to start, but it never did. Instead, he was engulfed to a hug by two people. All he could see and hear were his hyung´s fussing over at him, asking if he was okay, and what startled Jungkook, apologizing to him. Taehyung was almost crying as he apologized for the tenth time in a minute. Jungkook could feel his own tears streaming down his cheeks and they were one big crying mess at that point. Jungkook leaned in the hug and let Jimin´s lavender and Taehyung´s orange scents calm him down. It felt so nice to be embraced by his hyungs.

They stayed there for couple of minutes before Hoseok cleared his throat. Jungkook lifted his head and locked eyes with Hoseok.

“I need to talk to you pup.” he said sternly. Taehyung looked at Hoseok with a worried pout and Jimin started to protest.

“It wasn’t Jungkook´s fault hyung, you can´t be mad at him!”

“It was my fault, hyung!” Taehyung almost cried.

Hoseok lifted his hand and the two maknaes stopped their protests right away.

“I´m not mad at Jungkook, I just want to talk about what happened yesterday,” his tone softer this time. Jungkook was looking at the maknaes and gave them a reassuring smile that probably wasn’t good enough to reassure anyone and followed Hoseok to his room.

Jungkook closed the door behind him and adverted his gaze on the ground. They were quiet for a while, Hoseok looking out of the window into their patio, Namjoon´s pride and joy. He sighed and turned around, looking at Jungkook who was still staring at the ground. Hoseok closed in and took Jungkook´s hand into his, started petting the back of his hand.

“I´m so sorry pup, I shouldn’t have said what I did and upset you,” he whispered, looking remorseful. Jungkook lifted his head and looked right into Hoseok´s eyes, his own eyes widening to the size of a saucers. This wasn’t what he expected Hoseok to say, not in a million years would he expect the alpha to apologize him. Jungkook´s brain stopped working and all he could do, was to stare at Hoseok mouth wide open like a fish on a dry land. Hoseok let out a small huff of laughter and stroked Jungkook´s cheek.

“Penny for your thoughts,” he chuckles.

“I-I… I thought you´d be angry with me,” Jungkook stuttered.

Hoseok´s hand halted and he shook his head.

“I could never be angry with you, darling,” he whispered and continued petting Jungkook´s cheek. “You have a different upbringing as I do and that´s okay, I shouldn’t have dismissed it like that.”

“But I was so rude, told you to leave and everything, you should be mad at me, why aren’t you mad at me?” Jungkook wondered. In his mind a punishment would be a perfectly reasonable course of action for what he had done, his father had punished him for far less smaller mishaps than this.

“I´m not mad at you nor will punish you if that´s what you’re thinking about. We just didn’t see eye to eye and that’s okay. We don’t do punishments for that in this house.” Hoseok murmurs.

Jungkook picked up what was left unspoken, they didn’t do punishments for these kinds of things, but they did punishments for something. Jungkook wondered what kind of things they would punish him for. He had no way of knowing that sometimes the maknaes begged to be punished, doing things that they knew would rile up the hyungs in the house. Jungkook saw punishments as nothing else other than negative thing that would hurt and were meant to take away his free will.

Jungkook´s face fell a little bit when he thought about possible punishments and Hoseok crooned at him. He pulled Jungkook into a warm hug, rubbing his hand on Jungkook´s back. Hoseok´s breath stirred Jungkook´s hair as he exhaled shakily, wrapping his arms around Hoseok. They stood there embracing each other for a while until Hoseok spoke.

“Look at me pup,” Hoseok orders gently and Jungkook follows the order. His eyes are glossy from tears, not being able to understand how someone can be this gentle with him. He doesn’t deserve this, he doesn’t deserve this pack, but here he is, being held by Hoseok, one of the gentlest alpha in this world.

“Good boy, you are such a perfect boy Jungkook,” he murmurs, smile plastering his face. Then he leans in to brush a kiss against Jungkook´s temple and the younger one´s heart almost stops.

Oh, he might be in love.

Chapter Text

They held each other for what felt like hours to Jungkook. He had missed the feeling of being wrapped in somebody´s arms, not caring about the world, just letting yourself melt into a warmth of the other person. He nuzzled into Hoseok´s neck and breathed in the scent of sandalwood, calming and so soft, and let himself relax in his arms. Hoseok was the first one to pull out of the hug, caressing Jungkook´s cheek with his fingers.

“Come on, pup. Let´s go for a breakfast. I know the others are dying to talk to you,” he smiled and led Jungkook out of the room, down the stairs and into the kitchen.

Jungkook was bombarded with Jimin and Taehyung the minute he stepped into a kitchen and was drawn into a hug again, like he had been gone for another day. Jungkook didn’t mind it, he liked the two maknaes and felt safe being sandwiched between them.

“Woah, pups! Give Jungkook some space to breath,” Seokjin laughed fondly, watching the three separate and Jimin to wipe away his tears.

“I was so scared,” he whispered, still wiping away the remnants of the tears.

“Me too,” said Taehyung softly, “Are you okay now? What did the doctor say?”

Jungkook chuckled, feeling so relieved that nobody was upset with him as he explained that the pain was related to his memories coming back one by one. Taehyung and Jimin listened to him with serious expressions on their face and as soon as Jungkook was done, they had million more questions to ask.

“So, this can happen again?” Jimin asked with pained expression on his face. Jungkook nodded and looked down, feeling bad for worrying his hyungs. Yoongi was quick to pat his shoulder and murmur, “Don´t worry darling, we´ll deal with it when it happens, you don’t have to be ashamed.”

“Yeah, don’t feel bad about it Kookie,” Taehyung reassured him with a smile that wasn’t as bright as before. Jungkook noticed how the elder hyungs looked at each other and sighed. He was just about to apologize when Jimin asked the question that was on everybody´s mind, “What did you see Kookie? I mean- when your head started hurting, did you remember anything new?”

Everybody froze for a minute, taking in what Jimin had asked. Jungkook looked at every person in the room and felt like he could trust them enough to share what he had seen. They had been nothing but kind to him and had looked after him even though they didn’t have any obligations to do so. Hoseok was about to protest but Jungkook gut him of.

“I saw my mom… she was afraid of something and said that I had to run away, to whom I´m not sure,” Jungkook mumbled the last words, missing how the eldest looked at each other. Jimin and Taehyung were also too focused on Jungkook to notice how grim the hyungs looked like.

“Sorry that I can´t tell you more, I´m trying to remember but I can´t…” he whispered and reserved coos from everybody in the room. The maknaes were quick to engulf Jungkook into a squeeze and Yoongi continued petting Jungkook head.

It was Hoseok who finally spoke, “It´s okay, pup, don’t worry about it. Your memories will come back to you when it´s meant to. Meanwhile you should focus on getting better and for my part and I know for the rest of the pack too, you are welcomed to stay with us as long as you want.”

Jungkook felt tears swell up his eyes again when he listened to the pack alpha speak, he was so happy with them and wished that this could last forever, maybe it could, said a small voice inside Jungkook´s head.

They had a nice breakfast and laughed and cried some more, mainly Jimin. A morning went by with talking and getting known to each other. Jungkook found out that Jimin was a dancer, at first, he was surprised that an omega was allowed to work, but the more he thought about it, the more it made sense with the pack being more liberal and openminded. He could see the dancer in Jimin, he was so graceful with the way he moved and carried himself.

Taehyung was a starting actor with a side role on a romantic drama while doing some small commercials on the side. Jimin and Taehyung met at the university they were both studying at and had been friends ever since. Jimin had met with Hoseok couple of times at the local coffee shop before he had introduced Taehyung to him. Two of them hadn’t been looking for a pack to join in but Hoseok had fell head over heels with them and had initiated a meeting between the two younger and rest of the pack and well, rest is history. They had been together now for three years.

Their story was heartwarming to Jungkook, he had been quite a romantic from the early age and one thing that his father hadn’t been able to crush were his dreams and imagination. He would spend numerous of nights dreaming about a person, a partner, that would drown him to affections and love. He saw a little bit about himself in Jimin. Jimin ways of expressing himself were emotional, he liked skin ship and was always initiating touch. Jimin was basically everything that Jungkook wanted to be.

Jimin and Jungkook were doing the dishes after the breakfast and the younger kept glancing at Jimin every two minutes. He wanted to ask if Jimin would spend the night sleeping next to him and talk about all the things that were on Jungkook´s mind. Jungkook kept nervously playing with his sweater sleeves, giving himself a sweater paws as he contemplated on if he had the courage to ask Jimin to stay with him for the night.

There was a small smile on Jimin´s lips as he observed Jungkook squirming next to him.

“What´s on your mind, pup?” he finally asked, deciding to let Jungkook out of his turmoil. Jungkook looked up surprised, his mouth shaping into o, as he watched Jimin who was smiling at him. His gaze moved to Jimin´s full lips, he watched as they mouthed some words he wasn’t able to hear. Jimin´s lips were so beautiful and Jungkook wondered what it would feel like to be kissed by them. Jimin´s persistent voice snapped Jungkook out of his headspace, as he tried to focus his eyes on Jimin´s.

“I´m sorry, what did you say…?” he asked lowering his gaze, embarrassed of his staring. Jimin chuckled and repeated himself.

“I asked what´s it that you wanted to ask me about? You are clearly pondering about something,” he said fondly.

“Ah, I was just wondering if you would want to…” he stopped and twisted the hem of his shirt.

“Want to do what honey?” Jimin echoed, lifting Jungkook´s chin, the younger was still staring at the ground.

“I mean- you don’t have to if you don’t want to, but I wanted to ask if you´d spend the night sleeping with me…” Jimin raised his eyebrows, and it took Jungkook a little while to understand why. Jungkook´s eyes widened as realization dawned in, “I mean talking! Just talking…” he mumbled quickly with his heart raging in his chest. Jimin seemed to realize what Jungkook had meant as he let out a small giggle.

“Oh, you sweet boy, of course I will!” he cooed and drew Jungkook into a hug. With a big smile on his face and eyes sparkling as the night sky he whispered into Jungkook´s ear, “It´s going to be so much fun, just wait and see.”
