The Addams way of Extending the family

Summary:

Gomez and Morticia Addams adore their children with every fiber of their being. While visiting Nevermore they find that not everyone shares this line of thinking. When they see that other parents don't seem to have the same philosophy, well they don't mind stepping in. If it gives Wednesday more time to write, then she is all for introducing her "friends" to her parents then so be it. She has to two years to beat Mary shelly and doesn't have time to waste. Ironically this plan backfires in the best way.

Morticia POV.

Notes:

I own nothing. thats it thats all the non-disclaimer ya get.
These will be mostly from Morticia POV and some of the characters will be OOC but i wanted them to be kids and or explore them through a different perspective. Cause Morticia doesn't know these children like Wednesday does so gotta work for that personality.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Parents day was a short lived joy last time but Morticia was looking forward to this one. They would see their raven. She was anxious to see how their raven was doing. She didn't want their daughter growing bored. Wednesday and boredom were an unpredictable combination. Although amusing boredom was a costly consequence. Following the other parents Morticia spotted Wednesday off to the side and resigned to their presence just as they hoped.

“Mother, Father”

“My storm cloud!” Gomez grinned, throwing his arms up in welcome. Wednesday allowed her father to touch foreheads for a moment before catching Pugsley as he tried to jab her with a needle.

“Hey Wednesday”

“Work on your stealth pugsley, you’re getting sloppy”

“Good fun as always” Gomez patted Pugsley’s shoulder.

“I saw the way the crowd avoided you, some of them even flinched when they looked at you!”

“Yes they have learned not to pester me”

“I am glad to see you follow through on your threats”

“Of course i would never leave the job half done”

“Come tell us about your classes. Have you burned down any buildings yet? I saw a letter from the school mentioning a need for new buildings”

“Minor repairs but I cannot confirm nor deny any involvement in that” Wednesday had the whisper of a smile before her lips twisted into a deep frown.
Morticia followed her daughter's gaze to what appeared to be her roommate sitting on the stair steps staring at her phone. Morticia didn't much care for the device but the sorrow and sighs rolling off the girl was a stark contrast to the blinding child they’d first met.

“Why don't you walk us around the grounds? I wanted to get a better look at- “ Wednesday held up her hand silencing her father as her eyes held a curious spark.

“Actually Father I would rather you meet my roommate again under less formal circumstances”

“But of course! Bring the girl it's been ages since we last saw her” Gomez enthusiasm over took his whole being as he did a little two steps. Her husband adored new acquaintances and who better than Wednesday's room mate?

Wednesday walked to her roommate catching the girls attention immediately based on the snap between frown to bright smile. The girl skipped, actually skipped, behind wednesday the same as when they first met her in passing. Wednesday didn't so much as blink as the girl talked the short walk over though she stood straight and put her hands behind her back. Did Morticia catch a peak of multi-colored claws?

“Mother Father, Enid Sinclair my roommate”

“Hello Mr. and Mrs Addams it's nice to meet you” Enid stuck out her hand. Polite little thing. Gomez laughed, taking full advantage he shook the girl's hand talking a mile a minute.

“A pleasure truly you have kept our storm cloud company, your probably great fun and keep her out of trouble”

“Trouble? Wednesday never” Enid's grin turned nervous, her eyes darting to Wednesday only for her raven to snort.

“Hardly Enid is too soft for that though she is improving”

“Aww thanks willa”

“Enid-”

“Willa!” Gomez was overjoyed enough for the both of them.

“You must be good friends if you're still alive after nicknames” Pugsly teased, utterly smug at his sister's budding friendship.

“Please she stopped threatening to kill me for real after the first year now it's all just for play”

“Is it though?” Wednesday glared at her roommate but Enid’s sunny attitude didn't diminish in fact it grew brighter. Perhaps they should have brought sunglasses.

“Come let us talk of your newest crimes and adventures!” Gomez waved them over to a table Enid skipped while Wednesday dragged her feet.

Morticia sat but didn't partake beyond a few well placed “hmms” and “yes darlings” as her mind was busy with the little sun at their table.
Morticia was aloof at the best of times and down right invasive at others but this time she was precariously balanced between the two. As she fought her impulse, which she would usually bypass all together. Being an addams meant going on impulse as it was often right. Gomez certainly never gave his actions a second thought unless he wanted to prolong his fun. No her husband was not one for the long game and for once Morticia was finding she wasn't either.

Here sat a bubbly pastel young girl with so much joy and happiness it was hard to look at her. But Morticia did because there was nothing but love pouring off her. Many creatures wore colors to ward off predators or disguise their dangerous nature but this girl was none of that. Enid Sinclair was painfully earnest and honest. She chatted easily with pugsley making him laugh and teasing his sister good naturedly. She kept up with Gomez even if she didn't fully catch on to the morbid side of the conversation. She didn't bother playing a part no, she wore her precious heart on her sleeve like Pugsly and it didn't take Morticia more than a passing glance to see that heart was tarnished.

Neglect was never easy to handle, it was so much kinder in the old days. If you didn't want a child you at least left them with people who would look after them. Dozens of Infants and wild children were left on the Addams doorstep all the time. it's how they came upon some of their best family members. Yet here sat Enid Sinclair abandoned by her parents on parents day of all days. It was the one day the Addams family was legally allowed to be on the property without a call from Weems. They jumped at the chance to shower their viper with affection and praise to annoy her if nothing else but then she brought this loud blonde wolf pup and Morticia knew something was afoot.

Wednesday would not have introduced the girl for no reason, no Wednesday had plans, schemes. No this was different. Enid gave Wednesday nicknames and still had her tongue. Enid leaned into Wednesday when they walk or sit, their shoulders touching. Enid's hands occasionally play with Wednesday's fingers when not playing with Thing. Light careful touches but not enough to warrant a sharp rebuttal from Wednesday perhaps they were becoming friends perhaps-

“And then I hugged her well i tried to and-”

“And lived!?” Gomez gasped. Morticia’s eyes darted over the girl but found no obvious signs of wounds except for the scars on her face.

“I get at least two punches to the gut for every hug I get away with” Pugsly was all too happy to commiserate if it meant his sister’s disdain.

“We have only hugged once and Enid has agreed that will be the only one”

“Yeah we respect boundaries in this house-er dorm?”

“And your scars? Another mark from our viper?” asked Gomez

“Oh these uh” Enid laughed nervously only for Wednesday to surprise them again.

“Those are from Enid’s fight with the Hyde”

“Fight ?” Morticia paled further as her heart raced. Wednesday had spared no detail of the gruesome end to Crackstone but some parts of that night were carefully glazed over. The encounter with the Hyde was one of them.

“Yes it tried to kill me after i figured out who it was but Enid not only stopped it but she bested it during her first transformation” Pride poured off their raven with gusto.

“It was my first transformation. I could have done better if I'd wolfed out earlier” Enid shrugged as she curled in on herself. That just wouldn't do.

“Don't talk so lowly of yourself. a hyde is nothing to scoff at” Wednesday snapped.

“It would have crushed anyone else”

“Whoa..” Pugsly leaned in for a closer look making Enid raise her chin for him to see them better. Insecure but not ashamed.

“ Dashing and truly courageous,” Gomez said, grinning ear to ear.

“I agree your scars will only become more elegant and distinguished with time” Morticia added. Enid blushed under their praise, her lips wobbling through a smile with watery eyes.

“Come show me your claws” Gomez begged, biting his lip in excitement.

“Oh uh-"

“Go ahead he will be an over excited child until you show him” Wednesday rolled her eyes but waved Enid on as one did a small child.

Enid flashed her claws to everyone's delight; they were sharp though painted multicolored. Morticia could recognize Thing’s work.

“Come let’s test them on that wall!!”

Gomez grabbed Pugsly and ran off to go play dangerous games with Enid’s claws though the blonde did look back at Wednesday before they turned the corner. Happiness and love. So sweet, tooth rotting sweet. No wonder Wednesday accepted the girl, she was a “kill them with a kindness” type in the making and Morticia couldn't wait to see her grow under Wednesday’s tutelage.

“What now Mother?” Wednesday's monotone may drone on to others but Morticia was all too familiar with the exasperated lit.

“I am delighted to meet your friend though, I must say her parents are lack lustered wastes of time”

“I hate to agree with you Mother…”

“This is not the only day they have missed with her is it?”

“They never visit but once a year and droll on about her supposed failings as a wolf then I'm forced to spend hours countering their argument until-" Wednesday’s rage simmered through her blank mask flashing in the clench of her jaw, the burn of her pale knuckles.

"Until what my raven?"

"Nothing, Enid is torturous on the best of days yet when she cries… even the saddest of howls can be musical but hers are agony…and not the good kind"
Such protectiveness only burned for Pugsly. An Addams protects their own and this was truly a sign of her raven taking others under her wing and a wolf too. Their raven with a wolf what a perfect fit.

“Perhaps we can meet with them…private and secluded…”

“Enid has already denied me their deaths multiple times Mother no matter how much i demand it” Wednesday sighed.

“There are other ways to make them suffer Darling, you are an intelligent one my raven and I cannot wait to see what chaos you bring” Morticia was happy to see the dangerous look return to her daughters eyes.

“I can certainly get creative.. No signs of struggle…no witnesses”

“No reason to be a suspect except among family and friends” Morticia smirked and for once Wednesday did too.

“MOM LOOK!” Pugsly called, drawing their attention to a wonderful spectacle of Enid holding Gomez over her head with one hand. Her husband was utterly delighted laughing maniacally as Enid grinned.werewolf strength for the win and family fun.

“Isn't she fantastic my love!”

“Me next ok?” Pugsly demanded jumping up and down.

“Sure” Enid picked up Pugsly without so much as a struggle.

“A strong wolf you’ve found Wednesday…''Morticia glanced towards Wednesday only to find her daughter's eyes wider than ever, her lips slightly parted. If she wasn't mistaken then there was the barest flush in her face. Was that baited breath? Oh.Oh.

“Enid, what do you think of visiting us during the break?”

“What?!” Enid was painfully hopeful as she carefully set Gomez and Pugsly down.

“Mother?” Wednesday was aghast. perfect.

“We have plenty of room on our grounds for a young wolf to roam and it would be an experience for the entire manor to house someone so colorful and the ghosts might even pass on at the sight of you”

“Wait ghosts?”

“I admit I am curious…” Wednesday fought to stay mad but Morticia could tell her curiosity would win out.

“We can impart some knowledge from the Addams library and our history as we have had a few werewolves, vampires and others in our family” Morticia offered.

“That would be great Mrs Addams!”

“Please call us Morticia and Gomez your family after all” Morticia caught Wednesday watching her with thinly veiled rage but her raven could stand to have her feathers ruffled. What was one more for holidays? What was one more for birthdays? Hell what was one more for the summer? They had plenty of rooms. It was only a matter of getting the girl there but even that would be solved in good time.

“Thank you Morticia and you too Gomez!”

They spent the rest of Parents day wandering with Wednesday and Enid. Their wolf rattled off plenty of information about classes, teachers, and students, everything Wednesday usually withheld from them. While their raven remained silent and resigned except for a few scathing remarks here and there. It was a perfect mix and satisfaction was not enough to describe Morticia’s elation.

They parted on much better terms than they’d begun. For one Gomez pulled Enid into a hug and the girl nearly broke. She was stunned for a moment but when Gomez didn't let go she hugged him back just as tight. Pugsly was all too smug to hug Enid at least three times before Wednesday threatened him and he lept into the car for safety. Morticia was a little more reserved, giving Wednesday air kisses but she did give Enid a kiss on the forehead. Again the girl was startled, her shiny blue eyes grew water but she smiled nonetheless.

“Goodbye my raven, Enid I cannot wait to see you again”

“Don’t get too sentimental mother”

“Of course not Darling take care”

With Pugsly in the front with Lurch, Morticia was free to whisper her plans into Gomez ear. He grinned like a mad man likely thinking of all the cousins they would have to call and seance for assistance. It was one thing for their daughter to wreak havoc on Enid’s family but why stop there when they could curse a whole wolf pack?

“Now ‘Tish, shouldn't we kill the girls parents first?”

“It did pass my mind but wednesday says Enid is against it, likely squeamish and sentimental for what could have been but what better revenge than to swipe the girl from under their nose and have them lament from afar as everything she thrives with us as her family?”

“Why Morticia you minx!”

“Thank you darling now we have much to do before the break, much to do indeed”

Once back in their room Enid sat on her bed mindlessly scrolling through her phone as Wednesday typed. Parents day turned out pretty good, one of the best to date. One thing stuck out in Enid’s mind that she couldn’t quite ignore.

"Hey wednesday?"

“Hmm?”

“Do you think your mom hates me?”

“Why?” Wednesday didn't pause in her typing. She had a lot of writing to make up for with Parent’s day interrupting valuable writing time. She was in the middle of a good plot point for Viper and her new dunce of a partner Fang.

“She didn't say much”

“Neither did I when we first met”

“Yeah but I could count on murderous intent getting you to tall your mom just stared at me the whole time.”

“ Don't think on it too much”

“Your right I'll just win her over with my charm like i did you”

Wednesday paused in her typing. The flash of Enid’s smile, the warmth of that hug, lifting her father with wolf strength- she squashed that train of thought quickly.

"Charm sure…"
