Work Text:
It’s quiet in the base at this time of night. The four brothers are out on the town, April and Casey are out doing god knows what, and you are left alone to listen to the silence. While it may be rare that you can enjoy a moment of peace and quiet, you can’t help but miss a certain someone's presence in the room. It’s not like you would ever say it allowed, but you missed that headstrong idiot. Hell, it might go straight to his head and you would never hear the end of it. “What I’m annoying you? But I thought you liked me staying with yoouuu~” Ugh his voice practically echoes in your head, like an annoying kid ringing your doorbell at 3 am. Even after all that, your knees grow weak and your heart flutters every time he speaks your name… How annoying.
“God, they’ve been gone a long time, a few more hours and it’ll be sunrise. Where are you fucks?”
Sitting on the couch in the base, fiddling with one of Donatello's gadgets, a chill runs down your spine. That feeling when something just feels wrong, like something bad has just happened. But you’re just being silly, it’s nothing..Right?
“They probably just got caught up in a battle or something, I’m sure they are all fine! I’m sure of it…”
…
*CLANG*
Swiftly turning your head and practically jumping out of your seat, a fallen glass bottle rolls off one of Donatello’s shelves. Exhaling, your body relaxes for a minute.
“It’s just a glass bottle, nothing to freak out about. They fall all the time.”
Getting up and walking over to the bottle, that same feeling creeps along your skin. The feeling of eyes burning into the back of your head. Before you can even turn around, a pair of hands come across your neck and mouth. The unknown person drags you backwards, holding a cloth to your face. The smell of chemicals fills your lungs, your vision hazing. Even though you try to pry yourself away from your attacker, your limbs go weak. Before you know it, you fall into the warm embrace of darkness...

“Well, I would call that a successful night!”
“You call that successfully Mikey? Shredder’s goons almost destroyed that entire building full of people!!”, Raphael exclaimed, “People could have gotten seriously hurt!’
“Yeah, but they didn’t! In short, we win”
“We win?? We can’t be that careless again, you of all people should know that!”
“Can you guys quit fighting for two seconds? We have to get back to home base, we left y/n alone for too long”
Leo said, clearly agitated.
“Ooooo someone’s worried!”, Mikey teased as he jabbed Leo in the side, “Oohh y/n, please allow me to be your knight in shining armour mwah mwah~”
“Just leave him alone Mikey, it’s true we were gone for too long. Besides, we are approximately 5 minutes away, so could you all start to behave yourselves?”
Donatello chimed in, cutting Mikey off before he could go further.
“Yeah yeah whatever”
…
“y/nnnn, we’re baaaack!!” …… “y/n ? Heellooooo Where are ya, dude?” Mikey yelled, looking for a response.
“y/n, this isn’t funny. Where are you?” Raphael yelled, not in the mood for bullshit right now.
“Guys, over here..” Donatello held up a piece of paper he found on the ground. “It’s from Shredder…”
Leo ran over, snatching up the paper from Donatello’s hand. As he read it, his blood ran cold...
“To The Leader of the Ninja Turtles
…
If you ever want to see your precious teammate ever again, come to the abandoned warehouse on 24th street. Come alone and unarmed, unless you don’t want to see her alive again.
Signed, Shredder”
—-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was dark, cold, and silent. Your limbs were bound to a chair, mind still hazy from whatever that bastard gave you. Anyone could be in front of you, and you would be clueless.
“Mhgnn, fuck..My head..”
…
“Ah, so you're finally awake, good. He will be here soon..”
A voice filled the silence, its words dripped with greed and pride. Like this unknown figure was proud of its work, of the job it accomplished.
“Who’s there? Show yourself, coward!”
A single lightbulb above your head flicked on, illuminating the space in front of you. It’s now clear that you are in a warehouse, outside of that everything is still unknown. You tried wrestling with your restraints while you could, before the same voice cuts you off.
“Don’t bother. Even if you do get out of those restraints, you wouldn’t be able to get far. It’s pointless”
With the lights now on, you can pinpoint where the voice is coming from. A dark silhouette that's just out of sight..
“Who the fuck are you!?? Where am I??”
The figure chuckles as he begins to step forward into the light. “It’s a shame you don’t know who I am..”
It’s clear now as the light illuminates his features, that familiar mask, the armour. It could only be one person..
“Shredder..”
“The one and only my dear.”
“What do you want with me, asshole. What’s your end goal here? The gang will find me and kick your ass.”
“It’s what I'm counting on. Once your turtle friends were distracted by my goons' attack on a building, it was a no-brainer to bring you here. My own little hostage to drag the turtles out in the open..”
“But how did you find our base??”
“Well that's a secret for another time, but now our guest of honour has almost arrived..”
The lights go out again, leaving you alone in the dark. The only thing you can feel is a gag being tied around your mouth. You tried to fight it, but like he said it was useless.
…
It feels like hours have passed while in reality it’s only been a few minutes. A few tears that escaped streamed down your face, but you must stay strong. You have to.
Without warning, a set of doors swing open and the light above you has flicked on again. A familiar face stands in the doorway, Leo. He looks fucking pissed.
“y/n..”
You try to scream, yell his name but it’s all in vain. It looks like he wants to rush right towards you, to take you away from all of this but he stands his ground. Yet again that voice fills the room.
“So you finally came, thought you would never show…”
“I came alone, and unarmed. Now let y/n go, she has no part in this.”
“Tell me Leo, what makes someone a leader? Is it their bravery, selflessness, or is it someone they can depend on?”
“What does this have to do with anything??” Leo swiftly turns his head in all directions, trying where the voice is coming from.
“What happens to a team when the leader falls? It’s simple really..”
Leo rotates once more to face you. His eyes widen and he clutches his stomach as a blade is punctured through him.
“The team crumbles”
Leo collapses on the ground, you are left to just watch as he bleeds out and Shredder stands over his body. You scream, cry, all the things you wished you had said to leo bubbles in your chest. It feels like your whole world has just fallen apart right in front of your eyes. Shredder steps over his gasping body, and over to you.
“He didn’t deserve to be called a leader... Let’s get out of here men.”
Before leaving he cut your binds loose with the same sword he used to stab the man you cared about most in this world. You rushed over to him, nothing else mattered right at that moment. Sliding over to his body, you held him close. His blood stains your hands…
“It’s all going to be okay Leo, I’m going to get you some help you’re going to be okay-”
Your voice choked as tears ran down your face, your heart-shattering.
Leo took his hand and held the side of your face, and with the last of his energy, he brought himself up and kissed you. The warmth shared between you too was magical, the one moment you wished you too had shared before has now become his last moment.. Footsteps approach you too as Leo falls back down, eyes rolling into the back of his head.
“He’s over here!”
The voice approaching you becomes muffled as your senses overwhelm your whole body. So many thoughts cloud your mind, your world has fallen apart in front of you….
—------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You sat impatiently outside of the recovery room in the base, unable to sit still. Fear and anxiety have swallowed you whole, your mind on one thing and one thing only.
The door to the recovery room opens, Master Splinter steps out and looks down upon you. Jumping up from your seat, you immediately bombard him with questions.
“Is he okay? Is he awake? When can I see him-”
He holds up his hand, stopping you in your tracks.
“He requests that he sees you, you may go in.”
Immediately you push back Master Splinter and barge into the room. There lies Leo, wrapped in bandages, smiling at you.
“Hey-”
Before even letting him finish you jump into his arms, not even thinking of his wounds.
“I thought I lost you…”
“Aww, so you do care about me”
“Shut up”
There you sat, hugging him like this was the last time you were ever going to see him. You never wanted to let go, keeping him in your warm embrace.
“It’s all going to be okay y/n. I’m okay, you’re okay. I won’t ever let him hurt you again.”
You buried your head in his neck as he held your hair, whispering those comforting words into your ear. He pulled your head back, looking deeply into your eyes. A smile slowly creeps across his face.
“Y’know, I should have done this a long, long time ago”
He brings you in closer yet again and kisses you on the lips. Gently, softly. Pulling away you can't help but smile.
“When I felt that blade go through me, all I could think of was how I couldn’t bring myself to tell you how I felt. How I would die without ever holding you in my arms, or kissing your soft lips.” He tucked your hair behind your ear. “Sounds pretty cheesy now though, heh”
“Not at all, I just wished I had said something sooner. Wished it had been more romantic then, well, this.”
“No, it’s perfect.”
