Summary:

The story begins during "Dark side of dimension". It is primarily a love story about Kaiba and the reader, but it will also have parts with the relationship between the reader and Yami. Does not contain YamixKaiba.You are the queen of the games and the thorn in Seto Kaiba's side. A thorn in the side and in the heart. He would turn the whole world upside down, just to prove that he is the best. It's your fault that he doesn't sleep, that he doesn't eat. His whole life stops because of you. He will do anything just to prove to you that he is better. For a better explanation, read the first chapter.

You are an international student, from whichever country you want, and you go to an international school in Domino, for gifted people in natural sciences, in short, you are very intelligent. You have wonderful friends from different parts of the world. You plan to stay in that city because it has become your home, much more than the place where you were born, where you have no one. You lost your family early in life and had to scratch for a place under the stars, all alone. Domino is the city where you felt free, happy, where you made friends, learned to play a monster duel, a game where you are the undisputed champion, and even fell in love for the first time.You fell in love with the second best, thousands of years older spirit, the pharaoh, Atem, your Yami. But he is no more, he left this world a year ago, before you had time to talk to each other enough. You never even had the chance, because he is always there with Yugi, so it wouldn't be convenient for you to say those sweet words to each other. But you always knew, both of you, you didn't need to say, the looks and the fight were enough. Once you fought in the park at night, far from everyone, maybe even from Yugi himself, who was probably sleeping at the time, you felt as if that duel was the same as making love. It was so passionate and tense, his every attack would confuse your mind, his moves had no meaning, as if he didn't want to defeat you, but was looking for something else. When the duel was over, his hands were shaking, and your eyes were tearfully . It is the only duel that you ended in a draw, which you never admitted to your rival, Kaiba, officially the third world best duelist. As with Yami, you had a kind of silent respectfull relationship with him, like the two of them had for each other. Maybe that's why he was the only person who saw what was happening between you and Yami. Such a "silent" life was beautiful, it would probably be very harmonious if you didn't have to save the world for a few months. Unfortunately, Yami is no longer there, and your life must go on, although you are not the only one who misses him. Your current rival, Kaiba, has an even stronger desire to be number one, he's improved his skills a lot and your duels are definitely more exciting and you're sure he can beat you, but something seems to be holding him back. You think it's because of Yami, which to some extent it is true, but even Kaiba didn't know exactly what he needed from him. That's why he had to find him.

Rainy night, cold. You sit by the window, wrapped in a blanket, while watching the storm. You hear small steps of soft paws. C/n jumps into your lap. "Hello little one." You smile and start petting her, as a sign of gratitude she starts to purr. "You know, I hadn't thought about it before, but Yamis eyes was color of lightning." You sigh. You pet her for a few more minutes in silence, when she started hissing at one point. She frowned, she was looking out the window." What is it baby?" You looked out the window and saw a blue glow, but not a cold one. It was Kaiba, standing in the rain in your yard. Does he always have to be so dramatic? You picked up c/n and came to the door wrapped in a blanket. She started hissing again "Come on baby, I know you don't like him very much, let's just see why he came." She scowled and pulled her head back into the blanket. You opened the door, and he was standing on the stairs below. "You know there are much better ways to hydrate yourself?" He raised an eyebrow "I'm glad you haven't lost your sense of humor." He was climbing the stairs towards you. C/n poked her head through the blanket and glared at him. She muttered a low, nervous meow and continued to glare at him. He looked, raised an eyebrow, "Hello to you too, grumpy." You scratched c/n on the head."Why did you come?"He just opened his mouth to answer you, when you turned and went to one of the closets you took out a fluffy pink towel, you went back to the door and handed him it. "Do you want to come in?" He took the towel from your hand and looked at you as if he was seeing you for the first time. " I don't have time." He wiped his face. "Why did you come?" Without any warning he took out Yaimi's puzzle. You froze. He frowned "I told you I would find him." You gently reached your hands towards the puzzle. He pulled up behind him. " No no, it's not finished yet, but it will be. " "I don't care, Kaiba, give it to me!" You stepped on him trying to take riddle from him,but he turned away." No no Y/n. You won't get it that easily. " You scowled at him.He smiled. "I'm organizing a tournament. I plan to fight him there, and when I beat him, I'll fight you and when I beat you, I'll finally get the title back!" You didn't listen to him, you just looked at the puzzle. He frowned" And then.." He looked at you tenderly. You said quietly "He's not coming back." "What?" he said gruffly "He's not coming back!" You shouted. C/n meowed sadly. "Leave him alone." He took a step towards you and said roughly "He will come back. I will defeat him. I will defeat you too. I know you will come, I know how much you desire to see him." he said those last words bitterly. "Aren't you in a hurry?" you pinned c/n to your chest. "You will come tomorrow and that's final!" you artificially smiled "Kaiba! I am not your employee, your child, your servant. I do what I want with my life. I will not participate in your crazy ideas. He is not there, come to terms with it." You could have sworn he growl. He got so close to you that only c/n was between the two of you. You straightened up, you didn't want to back down in front of him. Suddenly he pushed you a few steps into the apartment, turned you around and pinned you to the door. It happened so fast that you didn't even notice. You widened your eyes in wonder. He rested his hands on the door, so that he was surrounding you. He lowered himself to the level of your ear and began to whisper. "You will come. I didn't go through all this trouble for you to reject me now." he pulled away a bit to look at you, your noses almost touching. His face relaxed. "I know you miss him." He said gently. And then he made a surprised face and suddenly walked away. You looked down to see that c/n had bit him on the stomach, she let go and meowed at him roughly. You turned your head to the side and put a hand over your mouth to stifle a smile. He frowned. "I expect you tomorrow at the tournament. And come without that grumpy." He looked at c/n and she gave him a smug look back. " At that he turned and walked back into the rain with your pink towel over his shoulder. You have to admit, that color suits him really well.

Kaiba pov:
On the way out of your street, his phone rang. "Big brother! Where are you?" He sighed"On the way to the lab. Don't wait for me." "Okay, just try to get some sleep, tomorrow is a big day!" "See you tomorrow. Good night kid." "Good night big brother." Why? Why was he so upset? He will finally have a chance to heal his wounds. He will prove that he is the best. But as if that is not the only wound. He drove to the lab, it was very close to your house. He parked and noticed the towel on his shoulder. Was he really so lost in thought that he didn't notice it was on him the whole time? He took it and wiped his face. That smell, how he hadn't noticed it before. It smelled like y/n. He winced when he realized that he had been just studying the smell from the towels for a few minutes. He got out of the car and headed towards the virtual reality room. There was no one, which only meant that there would be no incompetent idiots to slow him down. He entered the room ready to fight Pharaoh. He still had to perfect his tactics, no matter how tired he was. A terrain appeared around him in the form of a cliff above a rough sea, suitable for the kind of fight he would have with him. A vague pharaoh-like figure appeared in front of him. It seems that he was too tired, because no matter how much he concentrated, the picture did not become clearer, then the landscape itself became hazy. He stood still and closed his eyes, he had to concentrate more. Then he suddenly smelled a strong smell, the smell of a soft towel. But how, he left it in the control room. Then he opened his eyes and saw that his mind had subconsciously changed the landscape. The cliff turned into a lawn, and the restless sea into a clear lake. The sky was almost completely clear, only a light spring drizzle was falling. And then he saw the girl lying on the lawn. She was wearing pajamas the color of those towel. She slept on her back. Rain soaked her pajamas and pinned them to her body. He got closer and realized it was y/n. Her wet face was shining and her lips were curled into a small smile. She breathed in a gentle rhythm. It wasn't the y/n he was fighting, who had been defeating him for the last few years, who had been defeating the pharaoh. This y/n lay so carefree, helpless, exposed. Anyone could hurt her. Then he seemed to be shaken by fear. Bright blue and white flowers began to sprout around her, it seemed as if they were growing from his very fear. The flowers formed a shield around her body, he almost couldn't see her. The environment suddenly changed again. Y/n was sleeping on the bed, completely dry. He was sitting next to her, the flowers turned into a soft blanket. There were the curtains around them, so only a little light penetrated the bed. One small ray illuminated her beautiful glossy lips. He couldn't take it anymore.Slowly, so as not to wake her up,he lay down next to her. The smell grew stronger, calming and lulling him to sleep. He watched as her lips glistened in the light, slightly parted. Her breathing was silent. He reached out and caressed her face. She seemed to like it, she smiled and nuzzled her head against his arm. He blushed. Softly, he continued to caress her with his right hand and hugged her with his left. She immediately snuggled to him. He hugged her tighter and buried his nose in her neck. The smell was maddeningly strong now. Then she pulled her arm over him and pushed herself into his chest. The feeling of her breath on his skin was the same as the feeling of the warmth of the spring sun. He kissed her forehead. Then she raised her head and brushed her nose against his. But her eyes were still closed."Take me Seto, rule me." She gently put her hands on his cheeks, slowly brought him closer and put her soft lips on his. It was as if he had been struck by lightning. He sighed heavily and then everything became hazy. Suddenly he opened his eyes and saw that he was lying on the floor of the simulation room. He was shaking and covered in cold sweat. When did he pass out?It was so quiet and cold. He sat down on the floor, it took him a few moments to collect himself. Was the dream this intense because of the simulation system? It sure is. He will have to come up with a safety mechanism for such situations.If the company releases an unstable product like this, surely the competition would use it to destroy them. The person who was responsible for security should be fired. He got up and left the room. Slowly he leaned against the door frame and rubbed his temple with his fingers. Of all why her. He opened his eyes and saw a small pink towel that he had left on the table before entering the room. He took it and wiped his face, the soothing smell flooded him again, his body immediately calmed down. A strange feeling rumbled through his body.He knew that he had strong feelings for her, that could not be denied lately. Whenever she was around, it would be just her, there were no others. Just the two of them and their cards. He took every move so personally. If she didn't make a good enough choice when attacking, it would be painful for him, didn't he mean nothing to her? Every direct blow she gave him, it was as if she herself had slapped him in the face.He would be furious, but not devastated, because the blow came from her. When she defeated him, he would admire her, she would shine in front of him. He was twitching. He cannot allow himself to depend so much on one girl, he subordinates his whole life to it. He has to defeat her, so that he can finally return to a normal life, and before that he had to defeat him. He had to do it in that order, it was the only way to get her out of his mind forever and to finally continue his life. When he wins, he will forget about her. She shook his world just because she took what belonged to him, nothing more.

~What if Kaiba is right, what if Yami comes back? It's not fair, he deserves peace, but I so want a chance to just say goodbye, to tell him how much he means to me.~You curled up, watching y/c sleep on the pillow next to you. And then the alarm rang. Y/c stretched and whimpered in protest. You turned off the alarm and looked at her. "Forgive my lady that the alarm disturbed your sleep." She jumped from the bed and marched out of the room offended. You couldn't sleep all night. You knew that Kaiba had manipulated your emotions last night. Sometimes it was as if he knew you better than you knew yourself. That's why he could control you so easily. Although you are sure that he is not fully aware of it. ~ Why do I let him do that? And how does he always succeed? A sadist. He must be enjoying it.~Then you were torn from your thoughts by the sound of the doorbell. You reached the door and looked through the peephole. A man in uniform was standing in front, holding a package. On his cap was the mark "Kc". ~Kaiba?~You opened the door." Good morning miss L/n. I'm here to give you an invitation to tonight's tournament and the latest Kaiba Corporation duel disk." He shoved the package into your hands, turned and left. He did everything so quickly, you didn't even realize what was happening. You went inside and closed the door. Every time you got something from Kaiba, mostly tournament invitations, it would arrive a few minutes after your usual alarm went off. Knowing him, it was certainly no coincidence. But just because you know him, you understand that there is no point in talking about it with him. You had enough technological and programming knowledge to check if cameras were installed around your house or if you had a hacker attack. Even if he was a technical mage like him, you would know and you knew that he knew it. So it wasn't a concern. And you didn't want to bother yourself as he knew then, it was enough for you to know that you were safe from his eyes in the your home. He was probably just following your movements. But when you compare it to the fact that Yami is disturbing eternal peace for the sake of winning, you realize that you didn't do so badly. You heard an angry meow. Y/c was banging on the food bowl nervously. " Yes Your Majesty." You fed her, and then sat next to the package on the floor. It was quite heavy for a duel disc. Better for him if he didn't expect you to carry something so heavy in your hand. Maybe it's a new way for him to show who is more powerful. I got my hands on the second of last two part of the puzzle, and the last one is with Yugi. He will summon him and then I'll defeat them and after that i will defeat you. These are your last hours like the queen of the games, enjoy them. Kaiba Stadium tonight at half past eight.Kaiba" "I would laugh, but I've heard that joke before."~So Yugi knows too.~You looked back into the box and there it stood, beautiful, deuel disk of the latest generation. The announcement has been going around for a couple of days, but he was so wonderful live. You would never admit it to Kaiba, but one of the main reasons you came to Domino was Kaiba Corp. A company that used to destroy lives has become a leading company, one would say of games, but they weren't just games. Software, systems, vehicles, methods of energy processing. That company was ahead of everyone for at least fifteen years. With an amazing design, so futuristic. As a child, it was a dream for you to work in KC, like every technology lover. You drooled every time they released a new product. And your idol, the incredible genius, Seto Kaiba, was your role model, an unattainable star. A man who beat his own father, and then with his abilities and intelligence began to create the unimaginable. A voice of reason among a crowd of selfish, narcissistic billionaires. You didn't believe that there would be a better inventor in this era of time. And then you met him. It didn't take much for you to understand why they say you should never meet your idols. From a mapnly genius, he became a nervous brat. It's like someone put reality glasses on you. Now that you've known him for so long, you can only laugh at that moment when reality hit you. This one was much bigger and more luxurious. You didn't have anything of this quality in the whole house. You passed your hand over the towel, you noticed that it had embroidery. Small feathers were embroidered all over the towel. It was a real work of art. You picked it up. It looked more like a blanket than a towel. It smelled beautiful, like freshness itself. You hugged the towel and started to smell it. The smell was familiar to you, but you weren't sure where it came from. It was so soft. You couldn't wait to wrap it around you after showering. Just a couple of these 'swaps' with Kaiba and it will spoil you. You looked in the box again. Underneath was a small black box with a small message on it, you took it and read it. "I hate being in debt."~It would have been enough if you returned my towel.~ Then you took the box. Nothing was written on it, without any explanation. It could fit in the palm of your hand. It was completely black. It only had a USB port on it. You looked at your watch. It was already 9 o'clock. You had to finish the project for school today and hand in the program to the boss. You didn't work for Kc, but you worked for a fairly strong company. Unfortunately, your boss mistreated you a lot. You weren't allowed to confront him directly,bc you needed the money. And getting a job as a student was not easy at all. But you knew how to get away. You finished the program two days after the task was assigned, but you were silent for almost ten days. There's no reason for them to know how good you are. Then they will harass you even more and give you impossible deadlines, and your salary will remain the same. Just a little more and you will go to university. You were sure that you would manage to get a scholarship plus you saved a lot, but does this mean the end of life in Domino? The colleges here were the best, but too expensive. And there were just few scholarships. Yes, only the best could study for free at Domino, and you didn't believe you were one of them. And all it because of Kaiba. He raised the standards so much. It evens out somewhere when you think about it a little more. Because of him, his company, you came to this city. You have reached the back entrance of Kaiba Hall. There you were greeted by Roland, Kaiba's right-hand man. Probably the man with the most stressful job in the Domino. He must have already gone gray from Kaiba, he's just dyeing his hair."Good evening." He opened the door for you. "Good evening miss. Master Kaiba is expecting you. Follow me." He led you through the sparkling off-white corridors. He led you to the elevator. "Just keep going to the top floor." You didn't even have time to ask him anything , he had already disappeared behind the door across the hall. You entered the elevator and clicked the last button. ~That's a lot of floors. So I'm in the western part, in the tower.~When you crossed the tenth floor, the walls were made of glass. Domino looked beautiful. The lights of that beautiful city at night were so calming. You didn't even notice when the door opened behind you." Do you want to stare through that glass all night?" you heard the gruff voice of a nervous Kaiba."Maybe i could. I haven't seen Domino from this angle before." You didn't turn around and he didn't speak. Suddenly you felt a presence behind you. He was standing right behind you. You could see his reflection in the glass, he was looking at the back of your head. "I'll take that as a compliment. Domino's is my town after all." You stood like that for a few minutes in silence. "Where's Yugi?" He frowned "He will come before the start of the tournament." You raised an eyebrow." And why was I invited to come earlier?" He turned and exited the elevator. "Because I have to brief you on the situation."

For the next half hour he explained to you who Diva was, what happened in Egypt and how he planned to bring back the pharaoh. Then you went to the arena without saying a word.

When the fight with Diva got out of control, you got involved. Yugi disappeared into another dimension and Kaiba and you were left alone to fight. You've always been a great team. You complemented each other's weaknesses. One Diva attack blew you back a few meters. You managed to get to your feet, but the blow was too strong. You let out a low cry. "Y/n!" "I'm all right." you nodded and came back to the starting position, but with great pain. You tried not to show pain in front of Kaib. You continued to fight, because of that expulsion from the arena you were left with a few life points. That's why Diva attacked you, that was it, it's over. In that moment a blue-eyed dragon appeared in front of you. The attack destroyed him.....Kaiba defended you. You looked at him in fear, "K-Kaiba?!" He looked at you and gently smiled at you. The sky was darkened, the cold unbearable. Fear and sadness overwhelmed you. That gave you the strength to finish that duel. And you won. You saw the light of the sun again and everyone around you was waking up, and those who had disappeared were coming back. Suddenly everything became white and you no longer felt the pain in your leg." Brilliantly done!" "YAMI!" you turned, he was standing a few meters away from you. You ran towards him. Tears of sadness and happiness fell from your eyes. You felt little jolts of happiness go through your body. Then you heard someone call your name. "Seto?" You opened your eyes. The blue-eyed headmaster was standing over you. His hair was disheveled. and it was almost touching your face with how close he was. He pulled back. He was silent for a few seconds and then raised an eyebrow. "For you its Mr. Kaiba." You stood up and touched the forhead where Yami had kissed you. You looked up at the sky and gently smiled."You were right Mr. Kaiba." He really came back."~Hhhh~ your leg hurt again. He looked at you with curiosity in his eyes."I'm always right." You ignored him. Yugi and the others were standing near you. He seemed so calm, he must have seen Yami too.
Kaiba pov:
~ Seto? I never heard her say my name.~ Yugi and the other nerds came to you two, they started to say something, but he couldn't hear that, your voice was ringing in his head saying Seto. He watched you listen carefully to Yugi. You had such a carefree look on your face. He watched as a strand of hair fell out of your bun. His hand mechanically went up to put a strand of hair out of your ear, he quickly jerked away and put it down before anyone noticed.
"Seto!!!!" he felt something hit his legs. "Mokuba.." Little Kaiba hugged his brother. He squeezed him tighter and tighter. Seto pet Mokuba's head. Y/n had a soft smile on her face. Mokuba let go of him and turned to her. Then he hugged her too. "Thank you for bringing him back." Y/n smiled and hugged him back." Your new haircut looks good. You're not a prickly pig anymore, you're a hedgehog now." Mokuba narrowed his eyes and smiled. ~Ever since she saved you in the game kingdom, you've been attached to her, haven't you little one?~As Mokuba broke away from Y/n, he stepped on her foot. She paled and let out a low cry. Mokuba quickly walked away "Sorry!" She stroked his head. "I'm fine, don't worry." "Ts, how could you not. If you come out injured like that, tomorrow all the front pages will say that Kc is responsible for your injury." He came up behind you and suddenly lifted you up bridal style. "Those bad press excuses are just waiting for me to make a bad move." You were quite surprised by the procedure, and it happened so quickly that you didn't manage to say a word. Kaiba nodded at Yugi, turned to the exit door. Mokuba said goodbye to the others and began to follow his brother's quick steps. "Roland! Call the hospital ward, tell them to prepare the scanner." "Understood sir." You just kept quiet and tried not to look at him. You were too tired and he was so warm. You tried not to fall asleep, but your eyelids were closing. He brought you to the car, Mokuba opened the door for him. Kaiba lowered you into the passenger seat." Roland, drive Mokuba home, it's time for him to sleep." "I'm not a little big brother! I want to go with..." the kid looked at you. Then he smiled. "Yes yes, I'm tired and i have a lot of thingd to do tomorrow. I hope it's nothing serious Y/n." He huged you and then went to the other car very cheerfully. He waved at Kaiba before getting into another car. Kaiba got into the car and slammed the door.
Your pov:
There was silence in the car. He drove for at least 10 minutes and nobody said a word. In the meantime, the rain started to fall, and the wind was blowing stronger. The storm was getting louder, in some places you could only hear car horns. ~It looks like it's really crowded...and this storm...why do I suddenly feel so scared? It's not because of Kaib, is it?
