Chapter Text

It was many years ago that the monsters got trapped underground. Everyone thought the people who put the barrier up disappeared for good. The story of the monsters is still told through the years. Long ago, two races ruled over Earth: Humans and Monsters.

One day, war broke out between the two. After a long battle, the humans were victorious. They sealed the monsters underground with a magic spell.

For many years humans thought that the barrier was sealed. What they didn't know is that a human child fell down the mountain. Soon later a monster came out holding the child, thinking that the monster had killed the child.

People have been worried about the monsters. Some went to check the barrier to see if it was still in tact. The barrier was still in tact.

Now there was a human, one human that was curious about the barrier and monsters. Though this human has been through many tests through her life. She had enough guts to escape with the powers she had.

That human was (Y/N). As a kid, people took her in and experimented on her. Though her escape failed once more. With a sigh (Y/N) was sent back to her room.

Some people came in with white coats on. "(Y/N) you ready for more tests? I have some wonderful things for you to do... follow me" the person said. You followed without a word. Though your mind told you not to go.

After a few minutes of walking. You were sat down to test your abilities. "Alright... can you lift that can and throw it at the target?" The person asked. "Yeah..." you sigh and pick the empty can up and throw it at the target.

Using your telekinesis. The person (who was a guy, because of scientists here mainly are guys here) they clapped and changed the scene. "Alright... we are going to drop in a scene with someone hurt, now I want you to heal them, no matter what, even if it is gruesome."

The man said. You gave a shaky sigh and nod. The scientists drop a cat that has been injured making it cry out in pain more. The sight was... unexplainable.

You walk up to the cat and gently took a hold of its legs healing it, whispering calming things to the distressed animal. Once the legs were done, you picked the cat up healing its ribs and spine thinking it may be broke.

While you were healing the cat, you pet it smiling small. The cat licked your face nuzzling you for a thank you. You giggle lightly at this and pet the cat. The scientists assistant came back and took the cat away from you.

Forcing you to move on. "Alright, now... I want you to test your fire abilities." The man said. The scene changed once more. It wasn't as bad as the second, it was kinda like the first. "Light this campfire." The guy said.

You light the wood on fire. Then you smiled a bit. It was cold in the testing room. You relaxed near the heat for a few minutes before they dumped water on your fire.

"Testing is done for this hour. You will come back in a few." The scientist said. They opened the door and made you come out. They lead you back to your small room.

For a room made for subjects, they made sure it was livable. A small TV  from a window (though the scientists have to turn it on because you wouldn't be able to).

It had a bed, a bathroom with a shower. They made sure they had your liking's there so you wouldn't be violent and alone where things would be destroyed.

You started to think of a plan to get out of the lab. You thought about escaping silently. Using your telekinesis, you were able to disarm the alarms and the lock to your room. 'Maybe this will be it...' you thought to yourself walking out of your room quietly.

Looking both ways you silently ran to the next corner. There was a guard there. You sigh. "This may be harder than expected." You said quietly. You sneakily ran past the guard when he wasn't looking. You snuck your way out of the facility when the alarms went off. You thought you had them off, guess luck ran out. You sprinted towards the forest ahead.

You tripped a couple of times, but you were able to catch yourself and continue through the trees. Guards were after you. You could hear them in the distance. "Stop! Don't loose her!" They shouted.

Their voices were getting louder as they gained. You were far out though. The voices echoed throughout the forest. When it was safe you sighed. "I'm... free... I'm free? I'm free!" You laughed knowing that you're gone from the evil facility.

You stopped mid way seeing the mountain that stood in front of you. Mount Ebbot. You have heard rumors. But never believed it. You thought that maybe that there is no monsters. Yet again.

You thought of some things. "What if the monsters are like them? Or they try to kill me? Or... Or... Or..." your train of thought left. Another sigh came from your mouth as you climbed the mountain.

"Heh... maybe... maybe this will be a different change?" You ask yourself. Another part of you is saying not to trust anyone. It was dark out, so you figured that if you had a light, it would be easier. You looked around and found a thick branch. You used your fire magic to light it and use it as a torch.

Though the flame wasn't big, but it worked either way. You reached the top and looked into the hole below. "Seems deep..." you said. You stepped forward a little more. You soon regret your decision as you slipped and fell into the deep hole.

You thought that it'll be the end. It could be a new beginning.

Chapter Text

Your P.O.V.

I woke up feeling a pain in my arm. I looked my arm and saw that it was bruised and bleeding. I used my healing abilites to heal my arm. You then got up and walked to the next room to see a flower. "Howdy I'm Flowey! Flowey the Flower!" he said.

You stood there listening to him. "Hmmm... Your new to the underground aren'tcha? Golly you must be so confused!" he said. You were very confused at what he was talking about. "Someone ought to teach you how things work around here! I guess little old me will have to do!" he said.

Something then came out your chest. "See that heart? That is your Soul, the very culmination of your being! Your soul starts out weak, but can grow strong if you gain a lot of LV."

I was sceptical about this. I looked at the flower. "Don't be so DEAD! Arn't you going to ask what LV is?" He asked. I gave him a look that wasn't friendly. I kept silent. "Alrighty then... LV YOU ask? Why it's LOVE!" He spoke with a happy voice. This didn't look too good.

"Want some love?" Tiny white pellets came out from the flower. I was kinda scared that the pellets will hurt, that this is another test. "Try to catch the pellets!" Said Flowey. I didn't move but use my telekinesis to take the pellets and shoot them at the wall. Flower had a smug grin on his face.

"You're not a human are you?" He asked. The kind face you thought that was kind turned to a demonic grin. "Are you one of those wizards that locked is down here?" He asked. Wizards? I heard about them, but... there was no way. "No..." was all I said.

"I want to find a way out. I'm done with the testing, having stupid tests!" I shout getting a bit violent. "Tests? What? You arn't a wizard? Then how did you take my attack and use it for yourself?" He asks. "I wish not to speak of anymore.." I said. Soon after a while a fire ball came by.

You thought it was an attack and got prepared. You had your fire magic out prepared. Though it wasn't aimed at you but the flower. You didn't want anymore trouble. If these creatures think that I am human. Let them think of that. I mentally sigh and put my magic away. A goat lady appeared in a purple robe with a logo on it. I looked at the symbol then at the lady.

Third P.O.V

"What a terrible creature, torturing such a poor, innocent youth.. Ah, do not be afraid my child. I am Toriel caretaker of the ruins. I pass through this place to see if anyone has fallen down. You are the first human to come down here in a long time. Come I will guide you through the catacombs!" she said.

You got up and started to follow her. 'First fallen human? In a long time? What happened to the other that have fallen down?' You thought to yourself. When you got into the next room you saw a little star. The shadow of the Ruins looms above, filling you with DETERMINATION.

Once you were done messing with the star, she led you through puzzles. 'These puzzles seem easy enough' you thought. You followed her into a hallway. "You have done excellent thus far, my child! However... I have a difficult request to ask of you. I would like you to walk to the end of the room by yourself!" she says as she starts walking down the hallway.

You sighed and walked down the hallway and when you reached the end of the hallway she congratulated you and went somewhere. The thing is that she told you to stay you are.before she left, she gave you a phone. There is no way your staying in that room alone.

You sigh and move onward. There was some battles. You gave a blank face though. Sparing them. 'I wouldent need this "LV" anyway, I mean why would I?' You thought. After some time and puzzle working, you made your way to toriel's home.

It was small, kinda cute with a tree there. "Would be more inviting if the tree had life.." you commented. You walked into the house to smell butterscotch and cinnamon. "It smells really good.." you said quietly. You followed the scent to another room. "Hello my child! I have made cinnamon and butterscotch pie!" Toriel said. "Oh... thanks..." you said. "My child? Is there something wrong?" She asks.

You give her a small smile. "I'm fine..." you say. Toriel gives a small nod and puts a plate with a slice from her fresh baked pie down. "I'll be in the other room. Please enjoy the pie." Toriel said leaving to the living room. You took the pie and it dissapeared.

You wondered where it went. Out of nowhere, a small box came up with your stats. "Health: 20/20, LV: 1, EXP: 0, Armor: hair tie." You were confused on what these mean. You shrug it off and went to toriel. "Oh, hello my child, I am reading a book about snails! Would you like to learn more about them?" Toriel asks. "Uhm... sure?" You say. You sat on the floor making sure there was a distance from her and you.

"My child, you don't have to sit that far away, I assure you that you are safe here with me." Toriel said. You still didn't trust her. You sat in silence. Toriel coughed nervously and read the book about snail facts to you.

"Maybe I can show you one of my snail recipes?" She asks. You simply shok your head. "Thanks, but no thanks..." you replied. You took a look at the clock. 'Looks like it's getting late' you thought. You went comfortable sleeping knowing that there is some kind of monster here, even though she said you were safe with her, you decided against it.

"You look tired my child. Here, follow me to your room, it's all made up just for you." Toriel smiled going down the hall. You follow her to a room that was fit for a child. You had a slight gasp about the room. It felt... warm... like some mother would do for a child. You yourself had a small smile. Toriel noticed.

"Seems like your happy, my child." She said. You gave a small nod. "Yeah..." you reply. "You are more than welcome to sleep here tonight, my child." Toriel said smiling. You went to lie down in the bed. It felt nice. You sighed softly before going to sleep. A few moments later in the middle of your sleep, toriel came and tucked you in, giving you a small kiss to your head. "Sleep well my child..." she said before going to her room for sleep for the night.

The next morning you woke up. "Another round of tests.." you sigh. Once you went out it was different room. You remembered that you were free. "Wait... I'm free! I remember!" You smiled. You heard humming, and went to check it out. It was toriel.

She was humming. "Oh! Good morning my child! How did you sleep?" She asked. "Oh... uh... good?" You said. "That's wonderful!" Toriel said happily. "Uh... how do I get out?" You ask. Toriel set the book down and got up. "I must do something..." she said as she headed down stairs. You followed toriel and she stopped you. "Please go back upstairs my child..." she said in a low tone. You followed her more. "I am warning you my child. Go. Back. Upstairs." She said.

You ignored her and followed her again. "My child, I have kept you safe, you do not know how to survive. I was only protecting you. Now let's see you fight. FIGHT ME!" She yelled as she took you into battle. "Prove to me that you can go out there!" She yelled.

You only nodded and stood there. You dodged all of toriels attacks. You kept using "act" to talk to her while her attacks began to falter. She ended up giving up. You spared toriel. "I'm sorry my child, but please... when you walk out that door, I cannot follow and please do not come back here.." she said giving you a motherly hug. You hesitated on hugging toriel back.

She let go of you after a couple of minutes and left. You walked out the door. It was blinding, but something cold hit you right away. Once you were out, the door closed behind you. You tried to open it, and it was locked. You sighed. "Now where? The goat lady toriel never told me where to go. Guess I'll just keep walking down this path..." you said as you went down the snowed path.

Chapter Text

As you went down the snowy path, you can sense someone behind you walking. You turn around to see nothing? 'I swore someone was following me...' you thought. After that thought, you picked up your pace from walking to a fast walk, mild jog.

After tripping over a heavy branch you fell face first into the snow. Getting back up you went and continued down the path. After a few steps, the branch can be heard snapping. You turn to face the branch that broke.

You didn't like the sound of this at all and you went to full sprint mode till you saw a wide gate looking thing. That looked pretty wide open for anyone to pass through. Crunching of the snow can be heard close behind you.

"Do you know how to greet a new pal? Turn around and shake my hand." Someone said. You closed your eyes and faced the figure. Shaking, you stood silent. The figure grabbed your hand and a whoopee cushion was sounded off.

You yanked your hand back and looked at the figure that reviled itself as a skeleton. "Wow kid, never seen anyone be so... cautious..." the skeleton said. "Anyway, I'm sans, sans the skeleton. Your human right? My brothers a human hunting fanatic." Sans said so casually.

You didn't trust this and went on and hid under the bridge. Using your telekinesis, you put up a force field to protect yourself. Sans saw this and went over. "Kid?" He asked. "I'm harmless kiddo.

Unless you had something happen." He said. "Also its unusual for a human have magic like this" He added. You shook your head. "No! I don't want to go back to testing!" You said. "Testing?" He asked. "Kid... there's no testing here." Sans sighed and looked around.

"Why don't you come with me and I'll help you." He said. "How can I trust you? I just met you!" you said. "If you don't trust me then I probably won't trust you" he said. "How would I know that you won't hurt me?!" You tell him. Sans sighed. "Kid..." he spoke.

"How would you know? Let me put it this way... if I were to hurt you. You'd be dead right where I first saw ya. Now can I trust you?" You thought for a moment. Well... he didn't hurt you, he seemed friendly.

Your mind telling you to not trust anyone that you should be alone. Slowly, you let your shield down. "Trust is something I cannot give. It's earned..." you said. You didn't want to give your trust to anyone so easily, you didn't know what's out there.

You didn't know who was capable of hurting you. Sans sighs. "If you way it that way... I'll earn it then..." he said. You got out from under the bridge and faced Sans. He was short for a skeleton.

"Anyways my bro would love to see a human..." he said "And don't you dare tell me you won't trust my bro." He looked at you if you were someone he wanted to kill. "My brother is too innocent for his own good..." he said quietly.

~Flashback~

"Mommy where is sissy going?" your bro/sis asked. "Don't worry about me (bro/sis name). I will be fine. Just go on with life... I won't be here for it.." you said. "I love you (Y/N)" both your little bro/sis and mom said. "I love you too" you said. A random government agent grabs your arm. "That will be all the talking for now... You will not be able to see her because she is dangerous.." he said. He pulled you into the car. The last thing you saw was your little bro/sis crying for you.

~Present~

"Hey kiddo are you okay?" Sans asked. "Yeah I'm fine and don't call me kiddo.." you said looking away from him. "You lost someone important to you?" He asked. "Why would I tell you that?? Just leave me alone!" You said.

He sighed and walked in front of you. "Come on just follow me" he said. You were suspicious but you still followed him. "Hide behind that lamp" he said. You hid behind it and in the distance you could see a taller skeleton.

When he got up close you could see he was taller than Sans. He had a scarf on which suit his personality really well. "SANS WHAT ARE YOU EVEN DOING??" He asked yelling. "I'm staring at this really cool lamp... wanna look?" Sans asked smiling.

Sans look so happy with his brother. You wonder what he would be without his brother. "NO SANS I DON'T WANT TO LOOK AT A STUPID LAMP!" he yelled again.

"Aww c'mon Papyrus this lamp is lighting the mood..." he said. You giggled quietly at his pun. "AGH! I'M LEAVING SANS! HAVE A NICE DAY! NYEHEHEHEHE!" He yelled. Papyrus as you recalled his name popped up again and did another 'NYEH' then he walked away.

You got out behind of the lamp and looked at Sans. He looked back at you. "If you can't trust him there is something wrong with you.." he said and teleported away. This was going to be a long and pretty chilly day.

As you walked out from the lamp post, sans greets you saying that he’ll meet you up head. You nod and walked ahead to see that sans and papyrus were there. As papyrus tested you on his puzzles, then sans turn comes in.

Chapter Text

It feels like you've been walking forever in this snow and then you saw Sans and Papyrus again. "AS I WAS SAYING!" he started but looked over at you. "OH MY GOD.. SANS! IS THAT... A HUMAN???" He asked yelling. "Uh no I thinks that's a rock" Sans said. "Oh..." Papy said sadly. "Hey what's that in front of the rock?" Sans asked. "IS... IS THAT A HUMAN?" He whispered/yelled to Sans. "Yes" Sans said.

Unknown P.O.V.

So the human has almost made it to Snowdin. They've already met Sans and Papyrus? She is a lot like Sans. She has a hard time trusting anyone, like Sans. She would make a great experiment. A human with magic like that is not here anymore. I need to lure her to me. After that, I will start experimenting on her. Most likely the experiments will kill her or she will barely survive. I need her to keep not trusting Sans. He will be the only one to keep her safe from me. I will meet you soon Y/n.

Your P.O.V.

I suddenly felt a chill down my spine. It felt like someone was watching me. I looked around and saw no one. I continued down the path and ran into monsters along the way. They tried to fight me but I always spared them. I didn't want to hurt them.

Hurting them seems really wrong to me. I did some puzzles for Papyrus so he could have some fun of his own. Sans and Papyrus are nothing alike. Sans probably has a hard time trusting people like I do. He cares about Papyrus so much. Papyrus was such a goofball. "Heh..." I said. To be blankly honest, Papyrus reminds me of someone I once knew.

~Small flash back~

You were sitting around looking outside your bedroom window, when your (brother/sister) came in all giggly. "Sis! Sis! Look what I made! It's amazing isn't it?! Isn't it?!!" Your younger sibling called out to you. You turn to face them. A small grin on your face, you take the paper that is filled with words, pushed into small squares. It was cute, the words were together in a way saying "I love you!" Heh... (name of sibling) is just adorable sometimes. You gave them a hug and smiled. "Thanks..." you told them and took some tape to hang it on your room wall.

~End of flashback~

"Kiddo?" Sans called out. I sighed, "please again with the name callin... please don't call me kiddo, I'm not as young as you think..." I told him. "Sorry, you do look like a kid to me... a tall one." He told me. I rolled my eyes at this.

"Like you're so short? Maybe I could call you kiddo." I said in a small teasing manner. "Right... I'm probably older than you..." he said. The face he made was pretty funny. It was a mix of shock and a "don't say that again" type. Papyrus looked at us both. "HUMAN? SHALL WE CONTINUE THE PUZZLES?" He asked.

Third person P.O.V

You turn to look at Papyrus. "Hmm? Oh, uh sure..." you say. He smiled more in happiness. "MEET ME AT THE NEXT ONE! I ASSURE YOU'lL BE STUMPED! FOR MY BROTHER SANS MADE IT! NYEH-HEH-HEH-HEHHH" Papyrus shouted and walked away. Sans shrugged at this and when you went to look at him, Sans was gone already. 'Strange' you thought.

You continued up on ahead until you saw Sans and Papyrus. "WELCOME HUMAN! FOR I THE GRRREAT PAPYRUS WAIT... SANS! WHAT IS THIS FOOLERY?!" Papyrus shouted. "A puzzle... like you said..." said Sans. Papyrus didn't look so cool headed. "A PUZZLE?! MORE LIKE A PAPER! YOU LAZYBONES!" He shouted.

"I can solve it..." you say. "But I'll need a pencil or pen to do so..." you added. "WHY A PENCIL OR PEN?" Papyrus asked. "Cause its a wordsearch..." you said. "SANS HOW MANY TIMES HAVE I TOLD YOU JUNIOR JUMBLE IS EASILY THE HARDEST" Papyrus said.

"Nah... that's for baby bones, word scramble is the hardest." Sans said. "HUMAN! WHICH PUZZLE IS HARDER! JUNIOR JUMBLE OR WORDSEARCH?" You looked at sans. "Hmmm... I'd say junior jumble is the hardest." You tell Papyrus.

He grins happily. "SEE! I TOLD YOU BROTHER!!" He laughs and runs away. Sans gives you a small smile. "You know... you could have chose wordsearch, though you made my brother happy by saying junior jumble. Thanks kid..." he said. You sighed. "How many times have I told you... I'm not a kid..." you huffed at him.

"Alright... though don't get too cocky, this is just the beginning to this adventure." When you went to look the other way, seeing something, going to ask sans about it, but... he teleported away. You groan at this.

When you continued on the journey, some monster came into battle with you. Weird... this monster is... quite weird... though you wouldn't want to say that in front of them. "Can I get a ride home after this?" The monster spoke. You weren't quite sure how to give this guy a ride if there were no cars or anything.

"What's the WiFi password?" You gave the monster a look that spelt 'really now?' You we're just ready... ready to go. You hit the [Act] button. There was an option to ignore. You hit that option, it had read "*all the monsters and you ignored Jerry and left without him.” Huh... that monsters name is Jerry? Well, he's gone now.

As you were sparing the other monsters, Jerry had found some way to come back. The dialog saying. "*Jerry returns*."

Chapter Text

As you finished the puzzle and ended up sparing the monsters on your way, you made it to Snowden! The town with life! As the sign looks like it’s been decorated with Christmas lights. As you walk through, the town seems cute, small, having friendly monsters around.

Coming up on a house that looks two story, Papyrus was sitting out front. You walked up to him. “OH HUMAN!” He seemed nervous. You asked him if he was okay. Being skeptical of the surroundings. “WILL YOU GO ON A DATE WITH ME?” Papyrus stuttered. Looking at Papyrus, of course it’s one of two things.

One say no and be guilty because of his face and the expression he gives. Two to say yes and also get dragged somewhere. A sigh came out and gave a curt nod. Papyrus’ eyes widened with glee. Seeing the smile, it’s not so bad. “GREAT! FOLLOW ME!” He said beginning to walk.

Feeling some eyes on you. You shiver, making your body turn to see what was looking at you. Sighing once more you shake your head and follow Papyrus. You were surprised as he walked down the down a bit, turning around heading back to his house.

“PLEASE COME IN!” Papyrus opened the door and you thanked him going inside. You snooped the house a bit. Finding the dog that stole the bone from Papyrus. The dog ran out, Papyrus shouted “CATCH THAT MUTT!” You went to catch the dog but failed. Sighing you went to Papyrus. He smiled at you. “READY FOR OUR DATE?” Papyrus said. You nod going to his room.

Sans P.O.V

Watching the kiddo, I lurked around. The kid seems to be playing nice with my bro. Heh... she’s really nice. I’ll see if I can’t get to know her a bit better. After seeing how she is. I couldn’t try to be any calmer. For a second I thought I couldn’t trust her. Seems like I can, but I probably should still keep an eye on her for safe keeping.

After watching them, knowing my bro’s safe, I made my way to Grillbys. As soon as I went in. Everyone welcomed me back. Giving off cheesy finger guns smiling at them. I got to the seat and sat down. Grillby came up to me and has asked what I wanted.

“The usual... but I’m not looking to get too drunk today. I kinda want to look presentable.” I said. Grillby looked at me and smirked. Asking who is this girl is and why I’m trying to look presentable. “Well... if anything... there’s a girl that came down and I want to get to know them. Any suggestions?” I asked.

“Well I do have a suggestion. Is this more of an intamate type of meet? Or casual? Because it looks to me that you have an eye out for this certain female. She must be lucky to have someone like you.” Grillby said.

“Well it’s more of a  “get to know you type of deal.”  you know?” I asked. He only nodded pushing his glasses back up to his face. You know... I’ve always wondered where his lips and nose are. I understand for him being a fire elemental. But in reality. I’m all confused.

After taking about one third of the ketchup bottle I went home. As soon as I walked in, my brother was sitting down and well... (y/n) was on the couch beside him. Walking to my room, I looked through my closet.

Humming as I searched for some clothing. Shrugging I picked out a cleaner shirt and shorts, changing into them. As soon i came out, (y/n) wasn’t there anymore. I asked pap what was up. “OH! WELL (Y/N) WAS TOLD TO CONTUNUE THE JOURNEY.” Papyrus told me.  Nodding I told him I’d be back. Using one of my shortcuts I took my way around Hotland. Knowing she’d be there anytime soon trying to get through Undyne.

Going to my station I laid my arms down and slowly drifting off to sleep. I fell asleep fast into a deep slumber.

Third P.O.V

As (y/n) was finishing the small predicament with Undyne, she went back after seeing sans at his station. Sans looked up at her. “Hey (y/n) what’s shaken?” (Y/n) roller her eyes. “I dunno you ask me.” She said. “You seem to be getting use to seeing what’s going on here...” you said.

“You have no idea what I know kiddo.” Sans said. “So What brings you here?” (Y/n) asks. “Running a hot dog stand want one thirty G is my price.” Sans gave a devious smile. “Sure?” You said handing over thirty gold. A little box had read. *you have revived a hotdog from sans. As you check your inventory hotdog was within question. With further examinations, it had told you it was a water sausage. “It’s not edible sans...” sans shrugged.

“I can give you more. At the same price.” As you handed more over, he handed you a hotdog. Wanting more seeing how the health is, you didn’t have any room. “You ran out of room kiddo, I’ll put it here.” Sans said putting the hotdog on your head. Insisting you had room, sans puts another on your head. Still insisting, he puts another on your head. “Kiddo, I could do this all day heh.” You smirked and challenged him. “How many can you put?” Sans shrugged. “Until I can’t reach no more.” He said.

Chapter Text

Over the few days of hanging out with the Skelebro's, you started to trust Sans more and more. Sans never told anyone about your secrets and kept it to himself, respecting your wishes. You and Sans were very similar, which you didn't see until now. You and Sans had trouble trusting people, and you hate making promises. When Sans rarely told you his secrets, you kept his so he could trust you. One of the secrets you can vaguely remember Sans telling you made it sound like he was scared.

~Flashback~

"Can you keep this secret kid?" Sans asked, looking at you. "Of course I will Sans..." you said. He looked at you somewhat relieved but also afraid. He sighed and then looked at you with a sad look in his eyes. "Resets" he said blankly. You were confused about the word 'resets.' What is so bad about the word reset? "What is a reset, Sans?" you asked, looking at him. Sans looks at you then at the ground. "Resets? It is when the whole world resets back to before the human comes down to the underground, "he said. Sans must have seen everything when the world reset.

"You don't know how many times I've seen Papyrus die over and over again... seeing everyone die by the hands of a human...," he said, looking at the ground. You looked at him, feeling a weird feeling go through you, but you just ignored it. "That's why I'm so protective over him..." he said. He looked at you. He looked like he was about to cry. "Is that also why you have a hard time trusting new people that fall down?" you asked. "Yes, that is why I have a hard time trusting anyone," he said. You felt bad for Sans, and you suddenly hugged him. You felt his whole body stiffen at the hug before returning it. "Heh... thanks kid.." he said quietly.

~Present~

You didn't realize you were staring off until someone gently touched your shoulder. You jumped before realizing that Sans was trying to get your attention. "geez kid didn't mean to scare you," he said. You quietly said that it was alright. "what are you thinking about? you were spaced out quite a bit, " he said quietly before sitting next to you. You watched as he slumped into the couch drinking some ketchup. "Oh, it's nothing..." you said. He didn't necessarily believe you but decided it would be best to leave it be for now. Suddenly, the door swung open to reveal Papyrus bringing in bags containing ingredients for spaghetti. "HELLO SANS AND HUMAN. I HOPE YOUR HUNGRY. FOR I THE GREAT PAPYRUS IS MAKING SPAGHETTI TONIGHT!" He announced. "Sounds great bro" Sans said, smiling at him. "Do you want help, Papyrus?" you asked. Papyrus stopped in his tracks before saying yes. You got up and disappeared into the kitchen with him.

Sans P.O.V

I watched as Papyrus and Y/N walked into the kitchen. He let out a quiet chuckle, thinking about the mess that would be made in the process. Sure, his brothers spaghetti isn't the best right now, but he was sure that with some help in the kitchen, it might be pretty edible. He continued to drink his bottle of ketchup, turning on the TV. He let out a quick grumble, noticing that, of course, Mettaton was on. He didn't necessarily like Mettaton too much because of how he interacted with his bro. He leaned against the armrest of the couch with his skull resting on his phalanges, slowly falling asleep. The last thing he heard was Papyrus's loud voice telling Y/n what to do before falling asleep.

Third P.O.V

Y/n was listening to Papyrus's every instruction about making spaghetti but also helping him improve it to make it the best it could be. Papyrus was currently making the sauce for the spaghetti while Y/n was making the noodles. She quickly turned over to Papyrus, looking up at him. "Hey, Papyrus, can you do me a quick favor and grab the salt out of that tall cupboard?" She asked smiling. Papyrus smiled and nodded. "OF COURSE HUMAN! YOU ARE A BIT TOO SHORT TO REACH I SEE BUT HOWEVER I THE GREAT PAPYRUS SHALL HELP YOU," he said before grabbing the salt handing it to you. She gently took the salt from Papyrus's hand a little bit to the noodles. Papyrus was watching everything she was doing before speaking up. "HUMAN, THE SPAGHETTI IS ALMOST FINISHED. I WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP BUT WHILE IM GETTING THE SPAGHETTI READY ON PLATES I WANT YOU TO LET SANS KNOW IT IS READY," he said letting out a little nyeh heh heh.

"Alright, Papyrus, I will go get Sans and let him know," she said, giggling. She walked out of the kitchen into the living room where Sans was sitting on the couch. Before she could say San's name, she heard a quiet snore come out of him. She walked back into the kitchen quickly, getting Papyrus's attention. "Hey Papy your brother is asleep on the couch. Is it okay if I take him to his room so he can get some rest? As soon as he's awake, he can eat some food, " she said quietly. Papyrus looked out of the kitchen at Sans laying on the couch, then back to Y/n. "YES, BUT I EXPECT AS SOON AS HE WAKES WE ALL GET TO TRY THE GREAT PAPYRUS'S NEW SPAGHETTI.. Also made by Y/n, " he said the last part quietly. She giggled before thanking him, walking back out into the living room. She went to where Sans was asleep at trying to figure out how she's going to get Sans upstairs to his bedroom. He can't be that heavy can he?

She quickly put her arms underneath Sans and picked him up. Wow, he really wasn't heavy. After all, he's all bones. She quietly walked up the stairs to where Sans bedroom was at. She made sure not to accidently wake him up because she's sure he needs this sleep. Walking down the hallway, she first saw Papyrus's room, then finally Sans room. She tried to open Sans bedroom door to find out it was locked letting out a sigh. She put her hands on the doorknob, closing her eyes using her magic before she heard a quick unlock sound. She smiled, opening Sans door and walked into his bedroom, closing the door behind her. Wow, his room was a mess with some clothes on the floor and a miniature tornado?

She shook her head, smiling and put Sans on his bed. Before she could start to leave, she was pulled onto the bed next to Sans. Sans had put his arms around Y/n's torso, snuggling his skull into the small of her back. She knew she would be stuck in this predicament for a while. She let out a quick sigh of contentment, noticing how comfy it actually was to be snuggled by Sans. She shouldn't be taking advantage of this situation, but she couldn't help it. After a little while, she slowly drifted off to sleep with Sans snuggling her.

Chapter Text

Second P.O.V

You finally awoke from movement coming from Sans. He seemed to be adjusting a bit still not noticing he had trapped you against him in his sleep. You felt comfortable for some reason in his arms. Yeah he was a skeleton but you shouldn't feel as comfortable as you do. You decided it was time to get up before San's younger brother Papyrus finds you two sleeping together. You blushed at the thought of Papyrus finding you and Sans sleeping together. Its not like it was purposeful. It was an accident. You decided not to think about that and tried to find your way out of San's arms. It was quite hard because Sans had you in a grip like he didn't want to let you go. You decided there was only one way to get out of San's hold and that was to wake him up. You didn't want to do that as he looked so peaceful in his sleep. After a while of watching him sleep you blushed once again realizing what you were doing.

You decided that you were going to wake him up. "Sans..?" you said quietly attempting to wake him up. You lightly shook him as you tried to wake him up. You heard him let out a groan and move around in the bed. "5 more minutes.." he grunted out half asleep. He still didn't know that he was snuggling you closer to his body. You then gently shook him and that woke him up. When Sans noticed what was happening you noticed a blue blush slowly come onto his cheekbones and he quickly got up and away from you. "uh.. I'm so sorry Y/n.. i swear i didn't mean to do that at all. it was an accident i swear" he said quick rubbing the back of his skull. You got up from the bed. "It's okay Sans. I know you didn't mean to. You kinda wouldn't let me go last night when I brought you to your room to lay you down on your bed" you explained to him. Sans looked around his room letting out a sigh.

"leave my room before paps sees you in here and think we uh.. did something" he said. You looked around his room then looked at Sans. "Oh.. uh Sans by the way.. I'm not sure how long we slept but Papyrus really wanted us all to try the new spaghetti me and him made together. I was going to come and tell you but you were asleep" you told him. Sans let out another sigh. "alright... thanks for telling me. I'll be down in a little bit" Sans said. You nodded and left him room saying a quick goodbye before you left. You then went downstairs to see if Papyrus was awake and left Sans by himself in his room.

Sans P.O.V

Fuck I didn't mean to hold Y/n in my room and sleep with them. I was asleep and didn't realize I was doing it. I sat on the mattress on my floor putting my skull in my phalanges. I let out a big sigh. I had to make sure that it would never happen again. I needed to make sure me and Y/n are getting any closer. What can I do to make sure we don't get any closer than we already are? I can tell that my bro absolutely loves her like a friend. He's happy to finally have someone to call a friend and I'm happy about that. But, humans are the ones who caused us to be underground and there's something weird about Y/n. I told her about the resets. What if she uses that against me? I need to make sure that never happens.

Third P.O.V

As you reached the bottom of the stairs you heard Papyrus's voice. "OH HELLO HUMAN! I NOTICED YOU TOOK SANS UP TO HIS ROOM BECAUSE HE WAS ASLEEP. NOT TO WORRY ITS ONLY BEEN A FEW HOURS. DID SANS DO THE THING WHERE HE DIDN'T WANT TO LET GO WHILE ASLEEP?" Papyrus asked you. You were astonished that Papyrus knew what Sans would exactly do. Yeah the 2 are brothers but how did Papyrus know Sans would do that? "Yeah, he did the Papy. How'd you know?" you asked Papyrus. Papyrus was busy reheating the spaghetti you 2 had made earlier. "OH. THAT'S AN EASY QUESTION. HE DID THE SAME THING TO ME SOMETIMES WHEN I BROUGHT HIM UP TO HIS ROOM..." Papyrus responded. So it was common for Sans to do this? You wondered why Sans would do that until a thought popped up in your head. "Hey Papy? Does Sans have nightmares?" you asked him. Papyrus stopped what he was doing when you asked him that question.

"YES! SANS HAS NIGHTMARES ALMOST EVERY NIGHT. I CAN HEAR HIM ALOT SO I GO AND CHECK ON HIM. I want to make sure he's okay.." Papyrus responded. The last thing he said was said in a softer tone you've never heard out of him. Papyrus is yelling a lot of the time. Before you could ask what kind of nightmares Sans had you heard Sans voice. "hey bro. you made some spaghetti in a new recipe i heard?" sans said. "YES SANS! THE HUMAN HELPED ME COME UP WITH A NEW RECIPE AND I WANTED US TO TRY IT TOGETHER!" Papyrus exclaimed out. Sans had a smile on his face as he sat at the small dinner table him and Papyrus had. "alright paps lets try the new recipe" Sans replied. You sat at the dinner table next to Sans as Papyrus set the plates of spaghetti down. "LETS EAT!" Papyrus exclaimed sitting down. You soon started eating as did Sans and Papyrus. "mm.. this is super good bro.. and i mean it" Sans said smiling. You agreed with Sans and you swear you saw a light orange blush on Papyrus's cheekbones.

"THANK YOU SANS AND HUMAN I REALLY APPRECIATE THE COMPLIMENTS BUT I COULDN'T HAVE MADE SUCH A GREAT DISH WITHOUT YOU HUMAN" Papyrus said. You smiled and responded to Papyrus. "Aw it was nothing Papyrus.. I really like helping others.. by the way do you need help with cleaning dishes after dinner?" you asked him. Papyrus nodded saying "I WOULD APPRECIATE THE HELP! NOW SANS WHY CAN'T YOU BE HELPFUL LIKE THE HUMAN?" You let out a giggle and looked over at Sans. "hey bro i am helpful... i helped you find this human" Sans replied smiling. Hey at least Sans wasn't wrong about that. "OH? LAST TIME I CHECKED THE LAST THING YOU DID WITH THE HUMAN WAS SLEEP IN YOUR ROOM WITH HER" Papyrus said.

You were drinking some water and started coughing not expecting Papyrus to pull that card out. The 2 skeleton brothers looked at you. "ARE YOU ALRIGHT HUMAN?" Papyrus asked. "Yes I'm okay Papyrus just didn't expect you to say that" you respond tears in your eyes as you started laughing. Sans looked shocked that Papyrus knew about that and glared at you. "What? It's not my fault that Papyrus is smart and figured out what you did!" You said. Sans let out a sigh standing up. "i'm going back to my room paps.. i have a lot to do in there.." sans said before leaving going up to his room. What just happened? One moment all three of you were having some fun and the next Sans left the room. You then decided to get up and help Papyrus with the dishes. You were going to figure out what just happened not now but later.

Chapter Text

        The next day had soon come. After what had happened yesterday with Sans you weren't sure what to do. He had seemingly in the day closed you off from him. He avoided you at all costs. It was making you sad and curious as to why he was suddenly acting like this. For the day you decided to hang out with Papyrus. "Hey Papy.." you said smiling at him. Papyrus was cooking what looked to be... waffles? "OH! HELLO HUMAN! I HAVE DECIDED TO MAKE SOMETHING NEW FOR BREAKFAST THIS MORNING," he said. "How do you know what waffles are and how to make them?" you asked. Papyrus was checking on the waffles making sure they didn't get too burned.

"OH, UNDYNE HELPED ME MAKE THEM ONE TIME. BUT THE COOKING SESSION ME AND YOU HAD YESTERDAY WITH THE SPAGHETTI HELPED ME LEARN HOW TO MAKE WAFFLES PROPERLY," he said proudly. You smiled at what Papyrus had said. "Do... you know where Sans is... I haven't seen him since... last night?" you asked Papyrus. Papyrus shook his skull. "UNFORTUNATELY, I DO NOT... PROBABLY AT GRILLBYS," he replied. You let out a sigh. As of right now you were going to eat with Papyrus and not worry about Sans. "I can't wait to eat Papyrus thanks for the food..." you told him. Papyrus smiled and gave you some food. "YOU'RE WELCOME HUMAN!" he said sitting doing with you to eat. All you could think about while you ate the waffles was Sans.

Third P.O.V

Sans was currently at Grillby's drinking his ketchup and talking to Grillby. As he talked to Grillby he thought about what had happened last night. Why did he fall asleep holding Y/n or.. was he already asleep? He wasn't gonna worry about that now. "hey grillbz... can i get a burger?" Sans asked Grillby. Grillby stayed quiet and went to make Sans burger. Sans continued to drink his ketchup as Grillby made his burger. Sans was in deep thought. Why did he care so much about Y/n? She was just another human. Sure, she had magic but... that couldn't be it. He let his guard down around her once and talked to her about resets. He should've just stayed quiet. She didn't need to know what resets were.

Soon Grillby came back giving Sans the burger. "thanks for the burger grillbz... bun appétit... you're bun in a million..." Sans said winking. Other customers in Grillby's laughed at Sans puns. Sans ate his burger while continuing to be deep in thought like he always was. After finishing his burger, he said the same thing he always says to Grillby. "put it on my tab grillbz" Sans said before leaving. Sans teleported back to his room in him and Papyrus's house. He let out a sigh before hearing a knock on the door. "BROTHER ME AND THE HUMAN WERE WONDERING WHERE YOU WERE... ARE YOU ALRIGHT?" his brother asked Sans. Sans came out of his room. "yeah bro im doing ok" Sans said with his normal smile.

Sans followed Papyrus downstairs seeing Y/n down there. He had to talk to them but at the same time didn't feel like it. "Sans... are you alright.. after last night?" Y/n asked Sans. Sans put on his normal smile. "yeah doing perfect" sans hummed out before sitting on the couch. Sans, Papyrus and Y/n would spend the rest of the day hanging out together playing games. Later in the night Sans called it and went to his room to sleep. "HUMAN YOU SHOULD SLEEP TOO... WE ALL NEED SLEEP" Papyrus told Y/n. "I will Papy.. thank you.. you better go to sleep too" Y/n told Papyrus. Papyrus smiled before going to his room to go to bed.

Your P.O.V

Everything was quiet now that Sans and Papyrus went to bed. It felt too quiet for me. Even during the games, I played with Sans and Papyrus. Sans barely spoke to me. I wasn't sure why I felt so upset that he didn't talk a lot to me. I let out a sigh rubbing my face. I decided to lay back on the couch thinking about the day. After laying for what felt like hours, I heard some noises that sounded like whimpers. I went to where the sounds were coming from. I would've thought they were coming from Papyrus's room but no... they were coming from Sans room? Is Sans having a nightmare? Why would Sans be having a nightmare?

I slowly walked into his room finding it unlocked. Odd... it was usually locked. I saw Sans on his bed whimpering and moving a lot in his sleep. He was having a nightmare. I walked over to his bed to tap him on his shoulders. "Sans?" I said quietly tapping him on the shoulders. That... didn't seem to wake him up. I shook him lightly this time. "Sans wake up!" I said louder. Sans opened his eyes his magic flaring because of his nightmare. His left eye socket was lit blue using his magic he pushed me away into the wall. "oh shit... i'm.. i'm so sorry.. i didn't mean to..." Sans said quietly rubbing the back of his skull.

Sans felt really bad that he got up to help me. "Ugh... it's okay. it was an accident. I'm not injured that's all that matters" I said smiling at Sans. Sans helped me stand up. "You were having a nightmare... are those... common?" I asked Sans. Sans put his hands into his jacket pockets. "uh... yeah.. but i don't wanna talk about it" he said quietly. "Are you sure Sans?" i asked him quietly. "yeah... im sure.. i'm not talking about it. Why was Sans being this way? I understand he's a bit stubborn but. I decided to push it away. "Alright well... if you need anything let me know... I'm going to go back downstairs to the couch..." I told Sans. Sans nodded "alright" is all he said when I left. I left going back to the couch downstairs. I then went to sleep getting some much-needed rest.
