Bow, Arrows, & Magic

Summary:

Bow and Glimmer are childhood friends who grow up in the Horde. But everything changes when Bow makes the decision to leave and find somewhere where he fits in. He didn't want leave her but he wasn't happy. This causes Glimmer into downward spiral, where she feels like she has to prove to Bow that she can be happy without him. At the end of the day they are in love and try to fight every fiber in their bodies from admitting it to each other. With each of them on opposite sides of the war can they really be happy?

Basically Catradora, but less toxic and more sexual tension.

Notes:

I'm back! So I was reading a fanfic and I feel like Glimmer and Bow barely have any fanfics just for themselves. Like most of the fanfics are Catradora themed and as much as I love them I thought it was time for them to take a step back. I mean I can't completely avoid mentioning them but it'll mainly be Glimbow

Chapter 1: All Good Things Must Come An End

Glimmer knew he wanted to leave, but never thought he would leave her. They had something so why wasn't it good enough for him to stay?

Chapter Text

All Good Things Must Come To An End

The day Bow left her in the Frightzone was the day she vowed to never put her faith in anyone ever again. She knew it was coming. She knew he wanted to leave. He didn't really have an evil bone in his body. He wanted to help others, not hurt them. He wasn't really into the whole taking over Etheria idea either. He had a pure heart, and that was one thing she admired about him. She always wanted nothing but the world for him. It's what he deserved. She just figure they could've had the world together.

It didn't even have to be Etheria, it could have been a world they created together. But she could see how much he didn't fit in in the Frightzone. He probably stood that long for her. There wasn't really any other reason for him to had stayed as long as he did. He was average when it came to combat. Not too bad but not great either. Except for when he used a bow and arrow. He had such great aim and precision. She was always left in awe when he trained with it.

No one really cared about him. To everyone else he was just another random cadet, but to her, he was the person who made her feel like she was more than just her magic. Like she had a bigger purpose than to become the best sorceress in all of the Frightzone or more importantly Etheria. He made her feel normal.

But now he was gone, and she was left with a hole in her heart. She should've known better than to leave the Frightzone to explore the Whispering Woods. But they had never been anywhere outside of the Frightzone and he was just so cute with his puppy dog eyes he gave her when he wanted to do something. And she could never say no to those eyes.

So, against Shadow Weaver's wishes and her intuition they "borrowed" a skiff and headed towards the Whispering Woods.

From the moment they spotted the woods to the moment she had lost sight of him, she never lost the feeling of excitement, she felt while exploring. The way the trees reached heights she never dreamed of. The animals that had made the Whispering Woods their home, with their little families.

When she lost sight of him, she was too busy taking in her surroundings to realize he had continued walking. She started to panic. Not because of the unfamiliar territory, but because Bow had no means of protection. She was always the one to help keep him safe when things got serious. Except for when he had his bow and arrows.

Thankfully she managed to put a tracking spell on him. She was able to track him down to the middle of the forrest.

"Bow, you can't just run off like that. What if I couldn't track you down, and we don't know what's in these woods. Remember the old ghost stories they would tell us when we were younger? How they used to say this place was haunted?" She said as she approached him.

"Glimmer, do you really think a place as beautiful as this is really haunted?" He said as he slowly approached her.

"Do you think, maybe they told us all of that so we'd act like proper cadets? You know another way Shadow Weaver could control us and make sure we never stepped out of line?" He said as he reached for one of her hands, as he turned back to the direction he came from.

"I mean come on, look at it. What's so scary about this?" He looked at her. And just as he finished his sentence a creature came out of a part of the woods, far in the distance, and started to approach them at high speed.

"Uh Bow, I think it's time to run." She said, as she started to pull him back towards the entrance of the forrest.

"Why do you say that?" He said as he slowly turned to see what she was staring at. He saw the creature that was approaching them followed by what seemed to be a princess and a cat like girl following behind it.

Bow immediately started running, dragging Glimmer along in the process.

They reached the entrance of the woods and hopped onto the skiff, just as the creature was only inches away from them. The two girls that had been trailing behind the creature finally catching up with it. Glimmer watched from the skiff as the taller one of the two approached the creature trying to calm it down, which seemed to work because it was no longer approaching them. She touched her sword to one of its legs causing a glowing light to appear and enhance. The girl was glowing as well. Nearly blinding Glimmer as she looked on.

The creature seemed to had calmed down as the two girls started to approach the skiff.

"You two, horde soldiers. What are you doing here? This forrest is protected by the rebellion, so I advise you to leave before we have to take drastic measures."  The cat like one said as she watched them from a safe distance.

"As much as I'm itching to try out a new spell I've been learning, I wouldn't want to waste it on rebellion scum like you. So we're going to be on our way." Glimmer said as she started up the skiff and headed back towards the Frightzone.

By the time they reached the Frightzone it was lights out. She prayed they didn't run into Shadow Weaver. She couldn't deal with a lecture on how irresponsible she was. Or how she could've been killed. She knew Shadow Weaver didn't care about him. So she wasn't necessarily worried about him being scolded.

They managed to reach the corridor just outside of the Barracks without being caught. Bow had been oddly quiet during the journey back. He hadn't said a word but she knew he was planning something. They said their good nights and fell asleep.

The next morning Glimmer woke up to see that Bow was gone. At first she thought maybe he had woken up early for breakfast. But then she noticed the bed hadn't been slept in. She realized he probably left when she had fallen asleep.

She knew taking him out to see the Whispering Woods was a bad idea. He was hooked from the moment they stepped foot inside. She saw his face when that princess and cat girl fought off that creature. He couldn't keep that sparkle out of his eyes.

She knew he wasn't happy but she figured as long they were together he wasn't truly unhappy. They had each other. She made sure she always made him feel like he was special. But obviously it wasn't good enough to keep him from leaving.

Bow was her only real friend. The other cadets were scared of her, so they hung out with her out of fear. With Shadow Weaver trying to mold her, they also feared what would happen to them if she got word of any type of problems they had with her pupil. But not Bow. He loved spending time with her. And that's why it hurt her so much.

As she stared at his empty bunk, she felt her anger start to surge. Thankfully she was alone. Everyone had already headed off to breakfast. She needed to release the anger someway. She balled up her fist as her body became encased in a dark purple energy. She let out a scream as the purple energy spread throughout the room causing the lights to flicker and then completely shut off.

She fell onto her bunk, in complete darkness. The hole in her heart filled with nothing but anger. Anger for not being good enough for Bow to stay. Anger for her realizing she had more feelings for him than he did her.

She pushed those feelings for him deep down and let the anger take its place. She picked herself up and made her way out of the Barracks. She couldn't show weakness in the Horde. And being Shadow Weaver's pupil, she had to be strong.

She didn't know what was going to happen if she ever saw Bow again but for now she was going to use her new found anger to become the greatest force captain in all of the Horde. She promised to take over all of Etheria. She'd show him that she didn't need him, she'd show everyone that she didn't need anyone.

Notes:

I hope you enjoyed. Um don't forget to tell a friend, and tell that friend to tell another friend, and that friend to tell another one.
