Summary:

Five times Perfuma tries to tell Scorpia her feelings via flowers and one time she succeeds.

Notes:

Thirty day flash fic challenge day three: The language of flowers, pyjamas, a secret passageway. (Ope, this ended up being more than a flash fic as I felt it would make a good five times piece. Also, it just ended up being fun to write the story and I wanted to flesh it out.)

Chapter 1: Bluebells for kindness

Chapter Text

Perfuma's brow furrowed as she considered the arrangement before her. The bouquet still felt a bit off, but she couldn't quite figure it out. The shop bell tinkled merrily and she perked up and greeted her current customer, "Hello! Welcome to Plumeria, how may I--"

She found herself at a loss for words, stunned by the physique of the FedEx driver who currently graced her shop, biceps straining at the sleeves of her black and violet polo. Perfuma licked her cleared her throat, mouth suddenly dry.

The courier beamed and set a stack of packages on the counter. "Hi! I've got a special delivery for..." she glanced at her tablet, scratching her head. "Oh! Oh, gosh, I am so sorry! Ya know, I was just thinking to myself, Scorpria, this doesn't look like a tattoo parlor, but I thought maybe it was just decorated for the holidays or something. But then I saw the delivery is for Hordak, and I know him! And, well, you're much prettier than Hordak!"

"Um...Thank you?"

"Anyways, I am so, so sorry to have interrupted you! Uh...Here!" The woman--Scorpia, her name tag said--dug through her pockets. "Ah-ha! There we go!"

Perfuma, still dazed, blinked as she felt something being pressed into her hand. She forced herself to tear her gaze away from where the thin polyester of Scorpia's uniform clung to her chest. "A...Pen?"

Scorpia nodded, as though this were a perfectly ordinary response to attempting to deliver a package to the wrong location. "Not just any pen! It's one of those nifty pens that has a stylus on one side!" She leaned in towards Perfuma, and she could smell a hint of her cologne. Scorpia whispered, conspiratorially. "I'll just tell them at work that I lost mine."

Perfuma wasn't entirely sure how to appropriately respond to someone committing workplace theft for you, so she impulsively snatched a bouquet from the display shelf behind her and held them out to the woman. "Here! Some bluebells for such a kind soul!"

The massive woman looked at her, wide-eyed, then promptly broke into tears before crushing her in an exuberant hug. "Gosh! Nobody's ever given me flowers, before. You sure know how to make a gal feel special! I'm gonna be sure to refer all my friends to you." With that, she picked up the bouquet and packages, then left as abruptly as she had entered.

Perfuma stood behind the counter, frozen in place. "I...I'm not entirely sure what just happened."
