Y/n woke up groggily lifting up her aching head from the uncomfortable wooden floor— wait wooden? Where was she? Wasn't she in her room?
Y/n snapped her head up immediately which in turn gave her a headspin, blinking away the dizziness she realised where she was.
The gym?
Right.. earlier Monokuma asked us all to meet here.. but why was I knocked out?
And why is everything so bi—
Y/n's thoughts were cut off by her own scream (or something similar) jumping up from the ground.
Paws.
She had paws?
"Wh-what the.." Y/n muttered in confusion and fear, she began to shake as she glanced over at her new body. Her (f/c) fur instinctively began to bristle.
Another scream ripped through the air making Y/n jump once again her fur bristling even more out of fear. She whipped her head around to find the source of the scream to see a dark brown female cat? The scream sounded feminine for sure but she wasn't sure if the cat she was looking at was a girl or not.
"WHAT HAPPENED!?" She screeched and Y/n immediately recognised the voice of the cat. It was Hina.
That was when Y/n finally realised the whole gym was filled with a bunch of cats, slowly coming to consciousness (from her and Hina's scream or something else.)
She was then suddenly hit by a realisation.
These were her friends.
"Ah— Hahahahaha!"
An all too familiar cackle broke her thoughts as she turned around quickly and saw what she had dreaded to see.
"Are you all done taking your little cat naps?" The bear asked covering his grin with his hands to hide a giggle.
"What did you do!?" Hina yelled at him, her brown fur now bristling in rage at the bear.
"Oh nothing much really, you see things were getting a little boring you know?" Monokuma explained although Y/n thought it wasn't helping at all.
"Living a communal life here at this school gets boring when there's nothing cool going on. Like a killing. Like come on! Where's the drama!? The action!?" Monokuma exclaimed with his bear claws unsheathed menacingly.
"So, you decided that turning us into cats would create an environment more entertaining?"
Y/n basically shit herself at the new familiar voice near her, turning her head to see who it belonged to it didn't surprise her as much seeing it was Kyoko. Just like everyone else in the gym (minus Monokuma) she was a cat too, a strange pale violet cat but a cat nonetheless.
"Puhuhu~ That's right!" Monokuma confirmed before cackling again.
A sudden shadow flew over Y/n making her crouch fearfully before seeing a cat land directly in front of her in front of Monokuma. The cat had brownish reddish fur with a unique texture and a familiar shape on his head.
"STOP FUCKING WITH US AND TURN US BACK ALREADY!" The male cat spat aggressively which quickly confirmed Y/n's suspicion of the cat being Mondo.
"Y-Yeah! You can't just keep us as cats forever!" Makoto's familiar voice rang out as he walked over (awkwardly he was stumbling on his new legs) and Y/n saw he had a similar fur colouring to Hina but lighter, his tail lashed back and forth as he waited for Monokuma's answer.
"My my! What feisty kitties! But no fret! This little trick isn't permanent! You will turn back to your normal human selves in a few days time!"
"F-Few days!? We-We can't b-be like this for a f-few days!" Y/n hadn't bothered to turn to see who was talking anymore, Tokos voice was more than recognisable.
"If you honestly think we are gonna stand for this type of act than you're surely mistaken!" Byakuya's professional voice came next, and to be honest. Y/n wanted to turn around to look at him, the idea of him being a cat is..
"Yeah, yeah, yeah! You can babble all you want it's not gonna change the fact you are a cat!" Monokuma laughed.
"Well, have fun see ya!" Monokuma bidded farewell but before he could disappear Kyoko spoke.
"Wait, that's not all you did. You did something else, did you?"
"Huh? I did?" Monokuma asked with a head tilt sounding genuinely confused.
"You did something to my body." Kyoko stated.
Before Monokuma could answer Toko screamed suddenly. Y/n snapped her head to look at her, concerned but saw that Toko had sat down and turned her body to face away from everyone but her head was turned to viciously glare at Monokuma, her fur bristling.
"Wh-what kind of p-perverted monster a-are you!? H-How dare you do this!" She spat venom in her voice.
But Monokuma stood as he was before. Confused.
"Wha-wha-wha what? No seriously, what are you guys talking about?"
"So you haven't noticed," Kyoko answered.
"WHAT THE FUCK!?" Another voice yelled.
How many times are people gonna scream?
Y/n turned to see a red cat bristling and he sat down on his haunches quickly when he noticed people looking at him.
"W-What's wrong Leon?" Makoto asked as he walked over closer to him, but Leon snapped.
"No! Don't come any closer!"
Makoto obeyed. Mostly out of surprise at the sudden order.
"But what's wrong?" Y/n heard Sakura say and Leon shook his head in what looked like disbelief.
"You guys aren't gonna believe me.."
"Just tell us!" Hina insisted annoyed.
"I AIN'T A DUDE ANYMORE!" Leon yelled, distraught.
Confusion hit Y/n like a truck.
Not a dude... anymore? What does that even mean?
Kyoko once again spoke up, silencing the gasps of shock and the murmuring of confusion.
"This is precisely what I meant. You did something to our bodies and now some of us; including me, are no longer the sex we were prior," she said professionally as usual, despite the situation.
"Well that would definitely explain some things," the familiar accented voice was muttered behind Y/n. It was obvious that she wasn't supposed to hear it.
Wait no longer the same sex? Then that means—
Monokuma's cackling snapped her out of her thoughts.
"STOP FUCKING LAUGHING AND TURN US BACK BEFORE I RIP OUT YOUR STUFFING, YOU PIECE OF SHIT!" Mondo shouted at the bear who only just continued to laugh unbothered by his threat.
After a few moments he quieted down, giggling he said.
"Well wasn't that an unexpected surprise! That certainly wasn't my doing but I'm not complaining! Things are gonna get a little more interesting now!" He began to cackle once more before the monochrome bear finally vanished inside the gym.
It was silent for a few moments before Taka shouted.
"Do not let this effect our moods everyone! Monokuma said it was only temporary and we'll be back in no time!" The black furred male stood tall and proud as he normally would do when he was human.
Kyoko nodded slightly at Taka.
"Taka's right. We can't worry about what's happened to us as it won't change anything. We'll just have to learn to live with it until we turn back," Kyoko added before she slowly and carefully made her way out of the gym.
"WAIT!" Hifumi screeched and Kyoko turned her head to him.
"What are we gonna eat? Can we eat normal people food? Is it bad for us now? How about bathrooms?" Hifumi ranted anxiously, sweat dripping down his brown furred face. His eyes were squinted, probably due to the fact he no longer had glasses anymore.
"W-Wait so this is for real!? We have to be cats for a few days!? Aw man this is really lowering my vibrations.." Hiro whined sadly but everyone ignored his comment Y/n noted his strange fur texture as well.
"And everything is like bigger now so how are we gonna go to bed and stuff?" Hina spoke in confusion, looking worried.
"Isn't it obvious? We're cats. We can simply jump onto our beds, chairs, wherever you wanna sit or lay on," Byakuya answered for Kyoko rolling his sharp gray-blue eyes in annoyance. Like Hifumi, his eyes were also squinted but even less so. Probably trying to prove the fact that it didn't really effect him when it obviously did.
"I'm sure we'll figure something out, I honestly doubt Monokuma would let us starve anyhow." Kyoko finally answered before officially leaving the gym.
"..She didn't answer my bathroom question," Hifumi muttered as he visibly drooped, upset.
"Wait, how are we supposed to open doors?" Hina then said out loud.
These questions made everyone turn to one other and discussing any sort of answer.
"Kyoko was able to walk out," Makoto pointed out slowly.
"Maybe Monokuma left doors open for convenience sakes?"
"If that's true what about our dorms? We need our privacy too, no?" Celestia spoke up.
Makoto sweated laughing nervously.
"Um..well—"
Literally saved by the bell, the announcement Monokuma usually initiated started playing after some bell chimes.
"Ahem, due to your current predicament, all doors are now open and cannot be closed unless done so by me. As for your dorms... I added a little something something." with that, the announcement shut off.
"Something something? What could that mean?" Chihiro asked, even as a cat he was still small and innocent looking and Y/n had to fight of a smile coming to her face at how adorable he looked.
"Well let's go find out!" Taka yelled encouragingly as he everyone began to follow his lead out of the gym.
"Cat flaps?" Celestia uttered disappointingly.
"Really?"
"Really really!"
Everyone jumped and let out a shout as Monokuma suddenly appeared.
"I installed these cat flaps to aid in your privacy issues. It's even got a little doorbell! Isn't that so cute! Just enter through the flap and on the other side there's a neat little slide that locks the flap so nobody can enter!" He exclaimed before he began to sweat.
"So you can do what teenagers do alone in their rooms."
Monokuma then hid a giggle with his hands again.
"Puhuhu~ Have fun!" And like that he was gone again.
Everyone stood still for a few moments once again before Byakuya sighed.
"Well if you'll excuse me, I'll be off," the ultimate affluent progeny informed before walking in the direction to his room.
Some people voiced their agreements and began walking to their respective dorms.
Y/n hadn't realised she and Celeste were the only ones that haven't left yet until they met eyes, her burning red gaze piercing Y/n's e/c ones. Uncomfortable she immediately broke eye contact with her which caused Celeste to cock her head slightly in interest before she spoke.
"Y/n, please come to my room at your earliest convenience, will you?"
Y/n quickly turned back to the goth gir— cat? And blinked in confusion.
"I'll be waiting," Celeste then added before walking to her dorm elegantly as always, leaving no room for an argument.
Damn. Even as a cat she's as elegant as ever.
Y/n stood in shock in the hallway before getting her bearings and going to her room.
Guess I'm hanging with Celeste later...
