Chapter Text

(Start at a pan shot of the CANDY CHATEAU. We zoom into a window which leads into a room where many LIVINGSTONES and ANTITOONS are surrounding a pedestal with a pillow on top of it. Pan to a pair of tall doors that soon swing open. Everyone's heads turn to see a silhouette of MR DARK, a tall, dark and mysterious cloaked man, carrying a pink and yellow translucent orb the size of his chest, alongside his most loyal suboordinate, a strong and floating ANTITOON named DARKTOON, right beside him. The artifact MR DARK is holding is the Great Protoon, which he will be using to gain power. Cut to MR DARK walking to the pedestal with DARKTOON following him from behind. Once MR DARK reaches the pedestal, he raises the Protoon over his head.)

MR DARK
My friends... this time... this time... the Great Protoon's power will be mine!!!

(He places the Protoon on top of the pillow and moved his hands around it but not touching it. The Protoon starts to crackle and glow brighter. MR DARK's hands start to glow bright pink and dark clouds surround the Protoon.)

MR DARK
Yes... witness the power of the Great Protoon!!!

RAYMAN (O.S.)
Hey! MR DARK!!

(Immediately, the effects all cancel out as MR DARK stops what he was doing and looks up. DARKTOON and the rest of the minions follow suit and the camera quickly switches to view RAYMAN, the hero of the Glade, standing at a window with a ukulele in one hand. He looks back down at the thieves and gives a cocky smirk, then jumps down from the window and in front of the group and starts playing his ukulele.)

RAYMAN
(singing)
I bet you know your master

Always lurking 'round the dark

But then he cowers in fear

You look up and-hark!

MR DARK
(rolling his eyes)
Enough of that...

(MR DARK turns to his minions)

MR DARK
(yelling)
Get him!!!!

(DARKTOON, being the most dilligent and the most excited to put up a fight, rushes over to RAYMAN to be the first to attack, followed by the ANTITOONS and the LIVINGSTONES. However, RAYMAN dodges DARKTOON's attacks as he kicks the other cronies and keeps on singing.)

RAYMAN
(singing)
I'm the ray, of sunshine

they, rely on.

I'm not your ordinary hero.

I'll take those nightmares

out your head,

you ain't to worry,

I got you babe,

but don't go around

without me doing zero...

no no, no

(RAYMAN manages to defeat all the underlings without problem. DARKTOON then charges after RAYMAN with his fists literally fired up. As RAYMAN keeps on singing, he dodges more of the attacks and at one point even jumps up high and uses his helicopter hair to break his fall.)

RAYMAN
(singing)
I’ll take those nightmares

out your head,

you ain’t to worry,

I got you babe,

but don’t go around

without me doing zero...

no no, no

(RAYMAN finishes up his song to punch DARKTOON in the face.)

RAYMAN
(yelling)
Hi-yah!!

DARKTOON
Ough!!

(DARKTOON falls to the ground. RAYMAN turns to face MR DARK and the Great Protoon. He grabs the Protoon off the pedestal.)

RAYMAN
(in relief)
Phew!

(RAYMAN proceeds to pocket the Protoon inside his bandanna that he wraps around the top of his body then looks at MR DARK with a smug look on his face.)

RAYMAN
Now that that's been taken care of...

(RAYMAN's face suddenly contorts to panic as he grabs the still standing MR DARK by the collar.)

RAYMAN
(yelling)
 Can you please help me with this date I'm having it's at 6:30 pm sharp!!!

(MR DARK gives off a confused look at RAYMAN.)

MR DARK
A... what now? You just defeated my army and me, and now you're asking... for my help... on a date?

(RAYMAN gives an annoyed look back at MR DARK before dropping him. MR DARK falls to the ground.)

MR DARK
Oof!!

(MR DARK sits up, annoyed back at his own frenemy's behavior.)

MR DARK
Who even is your date anyway?

(Cut to the int. of a classroom in the Fairy Glade, a place where children and teenagers are trained to be fairies, also known as nymphs. We see BETILLA teaching her students about lums.)

BETILLA
Now the silver lums hold great power, but! They have to be made with your own energy, which, if you're not careful, can lead to...

(Pan over to a doorlike opening that RAYMAN and MR DARK stick their heads through. RAYMAN scans the classroom to search for his partner. Cut to RAYMAN's view of the classroom where he scans the area. Soon enough, he points to a tall and slender purple-haired fairy named LY seated at a row close to the door.)

RAYMAN
(whispering)
There she is!

(Cut back to RAYMAN and MR DARK. MR DARK looks at the direction RAYMAN is pointing to see LY. He then looks at RAYMAN, who is gushing over his new girlfriend. MR DARK senses that something's wrong with LY and feels a bit suspicious about it.)

MR DARK
(whispering)
I... don't get any of this... doesn't she seem a bit... off... to you..?

(RAYMAN snaps out of his blushing and looks back up at MR DARK. He, on the other hand, doesn't get why MR DARK is so skeptic.)

RAYMAN
(whispering)
No..?

(A bell rings, signaling that class is over. RAYMAN moves out of the way as LY and the other FAIRIES exit out of the classroom, grabbing MR DARK by the cloak again to pull him out of the way as well. As LY passes by, RAYMAN taps her on the arm to get her attention. She looks at RAYMAN with a blank yet smiling expression. NOTE: this is something LY will be doing for nearly the entirety of this series. Get used to it.)

RAYMAN
(waving at LY and blushing)
Hi..!

(LY gives off no verbal response. Ominous music plays as she stands still for 3 seconds before slowly waving back and turning to walk past RAYMAN and MR DARK.)

RAYMAN
(sighs)
Isn't she beautiful...

MR DARK
("crossing" his "arms")
You're dating... cardboard?

RAYMAN
Don't say that about her! She just... doesn't like talking all that much.

MR DARK
What did you even see in her that attracted you to her?

RAYMAN
(blushing and looking away from MR DARK)
Her hair and... her pretty face and... mysterious... ness...

(MR DARK looks at RAYMAN, giving off an irritated look.)

MR DARK
Really? I mean... I guess I see those attributes in her, but... this situation still doesn't sit well with me. And again, why do you need my help?

RAYMAN
I... well... you see... LY and I...

(Fade in to a flashback of the ext. of the Fairy Glade. We see RAYMAN waiting at a tree branch leaning against the bark, eyes closed and "arms" "crossed". Suddenly, his eyes snap open and he looks down to see LY blankly staring up at him. RAYMAN blushes and jumps down from the branch and lands in front of LY. He pulls out a pink flower and looks away from LY.)

RAYMAN
LY... I-I...

(LY grabs RAYMAN's hand that's still clutching the flower. RAYMAN gasps and blushes as he looks at LY, who seems to be accepting his feelings.)

RAYMAN
So uh... 6:30 pm? Tomorrow..?

(LY says nothing but gives off a thumbs-up with her free hand. RAYMAN looks up with his mouth open, then smiles, then laughs in bliss. Cut to RAYMAN and LY standing together with the two blushing and RAYMAN still laughing. Fade back to current time where RAYMAN continues to laugh for a little while before sighing all while MR DARK looks at him in annoyance. It turns out that the flashback, while it did entail how RAYMAN confessed his feelings to LY, wasn't outright told to MR DARK, leaving him even more confused than before.)

RAYMAN
Yyyyeahhhh...

MR DARK
I didn't catch any of that. What were you even laughing at?

(RAYMAN looks up at MR DARK, realizing that he didn't tell him about the flashback.)

Chapter Text

(Cut to the int. of MR DARK's bedroom. RAYMAN is sitting on MR DARK's bed and DARKTOON floating beside him while MR DARK paces back and forth in front of the two.)

RAYMAN
So what now?

MR DARK
(stopping to turn to face RAYMAN)
... you tell me...

DARKTOON
Look, sir, if it gives you an idea, we're going to have to get RAYMAN discuss some personal things for the sake of us figuring things out.

(DARKTOON turns to look at RAYMAN)

DARKTOON
How much do you know about LY? Were you friends before you started dating? What?

RAYMAN
Well, we are... sort of like friends... we've been seeing each other when we were younger, but... I didn't get that personal with her... all I know is that she can be... shy... sometimes... but she doesn't seem to express herself well, so I have to rely on my senses to know if I'm messing up...

MR DARK
So you just... asked her out just like that? No going in deep or anything??

RAYMAN
(hanging his head low)
I know, I know... I'm... stupid...

(DARKTOON settles on the bed beside RAYMAN and pats him on the back. MR DARK sighs and puts his hand under his chin, deep in thought.)

MR DARK
Hmm... maybe if you let DARKTOON and me stick around for your date in secret, well... we might just be able to help you.

RAYMAN
(glancing his head back up)
Really? How so?

MR DARK
By...

(MR DARK shrugs)

MR DARK
...suggesting what you can do while we're behind bushes?

(Cue silence for a few seconds before RAYMAN speaks up)

RAYMAN
... y'know what, that sounds... pretty cliche... I'm in.

MR DARK
Okay then. Where do you plan for us all to meet?

RAYMAN
The Sunset Coast's beach. There are some hiding spots at the side so I'll see if LY and I can get a spot near some.

MR DARK
Excellent. I'll see you there at... 6:25..?

RAYMAN
Sure!

(RAYMAN gets off the bed and starts to walk to the exit.)

RAYMAN
I'm gonna go get changed-

(MR DARK stops him by tugging him in the bandanna with one of his hands.)

MR DARK
(sinisterly)
I... don't think you need to change clothes. You look fine.

RAYMAN
... oh. Alright then. Whatever you say...

(MR DARK let's go of RAYMAN's bandanna and lets him leave and shut the door behind him offscreen. MR DARK looks at RAYMAN's direction while DARKTOON flies towards and stops beside MR DARK.)

MR DARK
What a buffoon...

DARKTOON
Am I thinking what you're thinking..?

MR DARK
Possibly. RAYMAN's still got the Great Protoon with him. That idiot was too caught up on swooning over his girlfriend that he forgot to put it back to its rightful place.

DARKTOON
But if it's not in its rightful place, wouldn't there be a possibility that the world would fall out of balance later on regardless?

MR DARK
Exactly...

(Cut to RAYMAN running to the Sunset Coast's beach. When he reaches there, he meets up with MR DARK and DARKTOON.)

RAYMAN
Okay. I'm here. Now here's the plan.

(RAYMAN points to a bunch of bushes at the side of the beach.)

RAYMAN
You guys go hide in those bushes over there. I'll stand near you and look to you for any help. Whatever you two do, don't leave me and don't let anyone see you.

MR DARK
I suppose we can do that.

(Cut to RAYMAN, MR DARK and DARKTOON hiding behind bushes.)

RAYMAN
I'll go out there for a second. Just remember to be prepared for when I need help, okay?

MR DARK
Okay...

DARKTOON
Oh and by the way, RAYMAN, you didn't happen to feel a little uncomfortable around your "ne-

(MR DARK flicks DARKTOON by the side.)

DARKTOON
Ow. Sorry...

(RAYMAN nods and goes offscreen. MR DARK looks at DARKTOON with an angry glance.)

MR DARK
(whispering)
Really? You nearly had to say that??

DARKTOON
(whispering back)
What? It was just a taunt. Sheesh...

MR DARK
(whispering)
You could've given the game away!

(Cut to RAYMAN standing by the other side of the bushes. He waits for LY to arrive while yawning and stretching. A couple of seconds later, LY arrives with a picnic basket.)

RAYMAN
LY!

(LY is shown looking down at him saying nothing.)

RAYMAN
(blushing)
It- it... it's nice to see you... again...

(LY gives back a blank stare. The picnic basket then falls down on the ground and soon after forms a fully-made meal with beverages all on a picnic blanket.)

RAYMAN
(astonished)
Wow... you... made all this?

(Once again, LY does absolutely nothing. Pan over to MR DARK and DARKTOON peek out from the bushes with MR DARK using some binoculars he brought with them. Cut to MR DARK's view of the couple. We see them chat for a bit before RAYMAN glanced over to the villains. They then retreat to the bushes in a quick manner. Cut to them hiding behind the bushes.)

DARKTOON
So... the plan?

MR DARK
This plan requires patience, DARKTOON. All we need to do is stall him long enough to let the world crumble, and once things get chaotic enough...

(DARKTOON gasps.)

DARKTOON
(Sneering)
... then we can manipulate him into giving us the Protoon..!

MR DARK
Don't get too cocky this time DARKTOON... there are some... precautions... we have to take...

(MR DARK and then DARKTOON get back up to peek at the couple. Cut to RAYMAN talking to LY on their date. RAYMAN is blushing madly. He looks away from LY and towards MR DARK and DARKTOON, thinking they can help him with what to talk about. DARKTOON pulls out a pencil and some giant paper and scribbles some words on it. When he shows it to RAYMAN, the words read "ASK HER HOW HER DAY'S BEEN". RAYMAN nods and looks back at LY.)

RAYMAN
So... how's your day been..?

(LY looks at RAYMAN blankly. She gives a thumbs-up. A sweat-drop runs down RAYMAN's face, but he smiles at the response regardless. As they take empty plates and fill them with some food, the waves get closer to their feet which causes the sand to break apart into small cracks, signaling that the world is about to fall apart. However, neither RAYMAN nor LY seem to notice, with RAYMAN once again glancing over to the spot where MR DARK and DARKTOON are hiding in. Cut to DARKTOON writing annd holding up another sign with a command for RAYMAN to follow, reading, "SAY NICE THINGS ABOUT HER HAIR". RAYMAN then looked back at LY.)

RAYMAN
Um... your hair... your... hair...

(Cut to LY's face, it remaining blank. The wind blows harshly at the couple's faces.)

RAYMAN
(nervously)
... oh! Uh... hm.

(DARKTOON rolls his eyes and scribbles onto his paper and reveals the words to be "JUST REPEAT AFTER ME AND GET DOWN ON ONE KNEE". RAYMAN nods and stands in a "kneeling" position. RAYMAN starts saying what DARKTOON writes on the paper.)

RAYMAN
(reading)
Your hair... shines best... under the sunset... and I... wouldn't know... what to do with... out you... you are... a beautiful fairy... the most beautiful... fairy I've e... ver seen.

(The wind blows harder and rip off the top half of DARKTOON's paper. Cut to RAYMAN panicking about what else to say about LY, with the waves behind them getting closer to them. LY stares at the bushes where MR DARK and DARKTOON are hiding. Cut to the bushes where MR DARK and DARKTOON aren't visible then cut back to LY. Despite the two villains not showing themselves, LY assumes that they're here for the Protoon as she can sense its energy as well. She then looks down at RAYMAN. Cut to her and RAYMAN, with him still deciding on what to say. LY suddenly hugs RAYMAN, who blushes.)

RAYMAN
L... LY..?

(LY squats while holding RAYMAN, forming cracks on the ground.)

RAYMAN
W... wai..!

(Before RAYMAN could finish his sentence, LY jumps up into the sky before the waves could sweep them away, still tightly hugging RAYMAN, who is tightly hugging her back while screaming. Meanwhile, MR DARK and DARKTOON notice this.)

MR DARK
Dang it..! C'mon!!

(MR DARK shoots himself into the sky. DARKTOON soon follows his master. Cut to the sky. RAYMAN and LY are being chased after MR DARK and DARKTOON, who start throwing fireballs at the other two. LY, still tightly holding onto RAYMAN, dodges all of them.)

MR DARK
Hold still, you brats!!!

RAYMAN
LY! What is going on here?!?!?

(Fireballs continue to be fired by MR DARK and DARKTOON. LY helps RAYMAN continue to dodge the fireballs. Suddenly, they look down and notice that they're near the pedestal where the Great Protoon was supposed to be. RAYMAN gives off a confused look.)

RAYMAN
Wait a minute...

(LY gets hit by a fireball and she and RAYMAN fall to the ground, right next to the pedestal. However, LY shields RAYMAN from the impact, reducing his pain. Then the Great Protoon rolls out of RAYMAN's bandanna but is stopped by a growing crack on the ground. RAYMAN gasps. In a split-screen, MR DARK simultaneously noticed the Great Protoon left seemingly vulnerable enough for him to steal.)

RAYMAN & MR DARK
... the Protoon..!!

(RAYMAN and MR DARK race to grab the Great Protoon. Before MR DARK could dive down low enough, RAYMAN quickly grabs the Great Protoon before it falls into the crack and runs towards the pedestal to put it back before the cracks reached it. He manages to put the Protoon back and everything returns to normal. The waves retract more normally and the cracks on the ground disappear. BETILLA, the MAGICIAN, GLOBOX, UGLETTE, and their KIDS, as well as various TEENSIES, ELECTOONS, and other FAIRIES look out to see peace restored once again. Cheers can be heard throughout the Glade as RAYMAN and LY look up in the sky holding hands. Meanwhile, MR DARK and DARKTOON float above in the sky, visibly enraged that their trickery had failed, but holding themselves back from throwing any more fireballs.)

MR DARK
Hmph. Well. That's it for the day then...

DARKTOON
We'd better get going then. Our little game with him is far from over...

(They fly away. On the ground, RAYMAN and LY are surrounded by various DREAMS. INTERVIEWERS start holding up mics in front of RAYMAN's face asking him questions.)

INTERVIEWER
Congratulations! You've saved the day for the 59th time! What do you have to say about this accomplishment?

RAYMAN
Thank you. I'd say that I'm kinda proud I won at this point. But I couldn't have done it without her.

(He motions to LY, standing there blankly once again. Suddenly, she moves over to RAYMAN and hugs him. RAYMAN gives off a shocked look and hugs her back, smiling. Suddenly, LY starts to speak.)

LY
RAYMAN and I are going to be the best of friends ever!

(RAYMAN looks up at LY and then back to the crowd sheepishly. He was not expecting her to say that.)

INTERVIEWER
And there you have it folks! Give it up for this generation's young hero, Rayman Chibi le Petit!

(The crowd cheers for the pair as they wave to their audience. TEENSIES and ELECTOONS jump up and down in celebration. BETILLA stands beside the MAGICIAN as she applauds while he stands smirking at the heroes. Meanwhile, GLOBOX, UGLETTE, and their kids give off their happy dance, blessing them with gratitude. Cut to everyone in the shot as it pans up to the sky. MR DARK and DARKTOON fly across the screen, reminding everyone that the "game" is not over.)
