Chapter 1: Day 1 - Leviathan (Eclipse/Reader)
Summary:
Day 1 of MalevMay/MerMay. The topic is Leviathan. So I give you Leviathan Eclipse and Human Reader!
The reader gets stuck underwater, with no way out. The only thing surrounding them is the dark open water and three pairs of eyes watching their every movement.
Chapter Text
You were traveling back up to the surface. You were on a research mission to take samples of the creatures that live 900 meters below the surface. Your trusty submarine was reporting heat signatures around the area, but there was a big reading from below, and it seemed to be following you back up to the surface. But eventually, it will fall back due to the pressure building up.
But once you hit 500 meters, the submarine stopped and just floated there. You couldn’t go outside, because, with the pressure build-up and nitrogen, you would be crushed into a ball, instantly dying.
“A.P. what's your 10/20?”
“500 Meters, A.P. stopped and won’t rise anymore. Over.”
“Copy. Send assurance now. Hold on there A.P. Over.”
“10/10.”
You set down the walkie-talkie and just waited there. There's not much you could do once you were stuck underwater with tons of pressure around you. You decided to walk to the deck, the next best thing was to watch the outside. The cool thing about the deep sea is that the sea life was amazing enough to adapt and create bioluminescence.
There were a lot of species that glowed in the 500-meter zone. None of them sparked your interest though. You walked past the deck and into your office. There were pictures from previous missions, there was a huge organism living between the 750 and 2000-meter range. You glanced at a picture from a couple of months ago.
It was a handprint on the ground. 4 visible fingers and a thumb and a slite indent of webs in between. Evident that it was of human trait to have opposable thumbs. But since it had webbed fingers it had to be aquatic. Some say it was an overgrown siren or naga. You think it's a Leviathan for living this far down.
The next picture was a molt, on the ground was measuring tape. This humanoid creature was massive, even if it was the tail molt. Proving your point of being a Leviathan.
The final picture was the creature itself, surrounded by post-it notes saying ‘STAY AWAY’ and some saying “DANGEROUS’. It was a clear picture, the Leviathan was with two other fishes, and those two looked more like sirens than Leviathans. They looked surprised at the sudden flash, the camera that took the picture, was retrieved by one of the seniors. The photographer that took it was in a medium size submarine, the same size, and model as the one you in as well. The sub was in pieces when the senior’s found them.
Back to the creature, the Leviathan in the back had frills around its head, like the pattern of the sun and its eyes were completely black with the iris being barely visible. The two smaller sirens in front of the leviathan seemed to share traits of the leviathan, maybe they shared traits as well. The siren to the left represents the sun more than the leviathan did, their eyes were scrunched up. Maybe not being able to see in the dark and trying to let more light in with the smaller surface of the pupil, their eyes seem to be completely white though. The siren on the right seemed to be more built for the deep. Had an antenna coming from the side, and the end was glowing. And its body seemed to have little speck of white, they were bioluminescence.
You decided to move to the lab. The question roamed around HQ. Why was a siren built for the light to be in the darkest part of the ocean? And be tagging along with a Leviathan, nonetheless. The lab was less interesting than the kitchen. Since only you were in the sub, your specialty wasn't experiments and lab reports. It was more of research and observation.
The lab was the only place in the entire sub that had a tank of fish in it. To pass the time you would go up, pull up a chair and just sit and watch. These fishes were special. This tank was built to create pressure so the deeper fishes would be able to live in this tank. These types were known for swimming around bigger creatures that produce light. So the artificial light didn't bother them at all. The only thing that made you lose interest, was how big the eyes were. You hated how you would make eye contact with them and shivers would go down your spine.
The other thing that sends shivers down your spine would be the sounds of the deep.
The fact that creatures this deep aren't able to make sound due to the pressure, but then occasionally there would be a loud ground rumbling moan. Every time it would go off, you would stay still and wait for it to pass by or go away. Eventually, it would, there hasn’t been a time where it continued or grew in loudness. Hopefully, it would stay that way for a while. Or until you were out of the water and onto sweet land.
Oh sweet land, how you long for it. You won’t probably see land for another day. It took a while to get down here and it’ll take a while to come back up, and the trip from the surface to shore, and then sanitization and paperwork etc, etc.
A bunch of stuff you hated about this job. You sighed and pushed away from the tank on the rolly chair. You rolled around the kitchen and break room, looking for a form of entertainment. Not much to do on this hunch of metal. So you did the one thing you were good at. Luckily your job.
You rolled the chair to the watch deck and hopped off to sit into another chair, this one much more comfortable. You waved your hand over the panel, the lights in the room dimmed and the panel lit up, you hit a couple of buttons and slide some switches. And the lights outside turned on and the ones inside shut off. Giving you a better view into the abyss. Hoping for something cool to pass by.

It's been an hour, nothing but a couple of deep-sea angler fish and jellyfish. But that noise went off, the same spine-crawling, bone-chilling sound that would haunt your dreams. You tried to stay still, the feeling of someone watching you, you looked behind you to see if there was a stowaway, but no one was there. You looked back to the emptiness and saw nothing.
You slumped further into your seat, you touched the panel again to see the tracker on the rescuer. Another 8 hours. Damn, why you’d take a deep sea job, why couldn’t you've been a coral researcher or study the tides. The pay got you.
You went to the kitchen to grab some food, might as well be as comfortable as you can. You waved to the fishes and walked back to the deck, right after you went to the bathroom. Once you finished up, you looked in the mirror to see if your looks were still good. And you were still looking good. Just because you were underwater didn’t mean you could look awful, you had some standards.
As you were exiting the bathroom the sub tilted to the right, you tumbled and hit the other wall, you scrambled to the control panel to see the damage and what was happening. Once you got there you first checked the damage, the sub was fine, but the thing that was causing the disturbance. You run as best you can to the watch deck, by the time you open the door the movement stops, you run to the window, hands pressed against and you look around.
“There’s absolutely nothing!”
You banged your fists against the window, slowly sunk to the ground, and cried.
“I just wanna go home…is that too much to ask for!” You yell into the total abyss, crying into your hands. You wept and cried, letting out all the stress that was gathered throughout your trip.
Then you heard a tap. You froze and looked up, there was a hand on the glass, then another. You scrambled to the panel and turned on the lights to the outside. It was the siren from the picture, the one on the left.
You walked back, being cautious that you would scare it off. You knelt in front of it, putting your hand against the glass, the siren from the picture looked the same, but in color. It was literally the embodiment of the sun, being yellow and hints of orange and white specked around its tail.
The siren tilted its head to the right, you following its movement, then to the other side. It smiled and twirled around, showing off its fins and tail. They were very gorgeous. You just sat there in awe. It froze and smiled again then swam off into the abyss, under the sub. Your mood soured again. You just got to see the most beautiful creature in your entire life, and now it's gone. And you didn’t even take a picture of it.
But then it swam back, they look like it was trying to bring something. They grabbed onto something and brought it into view. It was the other siren. They were just as beautiful as the sun. Their tail glittered in white, like the stars, and the end of the antenna was a start shaped bulb, glowing. Its eyes were black and the iris was red, big, and red. They both had sharp teeth, if we were talking about age, they were around your age.
You met eyes with the dark-themed one, and a connection right away. Just like with the other one. They were both enticing, you just sat there and watched as they communicated with each other, and how they reacted with you watching. Based on what you picked up, the sun-themed one was very joyous and energetic. While the other was shy and grumpy, very hard to read, unlike their counterpart.
You even played along with their little games, which you had no idea what they were playing, just happy to be included. But then on cue, that sound interrupted the peace. You look out into the darkness, it was straight across from you, two orange eyes were looking from a distance. And they came closer. The sub began to move again, the metal creaking with every movement. Once the movement stopped, you looked back into the window, it was the Leviathan, from the picture.
The Leviathan was orange. Like an eclipse. Eclipse. They were gorgeous, even more than the other two.
“You are stunning.”
As if they heard you, they leaned back. They forward again, putting their face closer to the glass. You walked closer to it, putting your hand against it. You're in total awe. They seemed to be interested in you as well. They looked up and pointed to you then up. Were they trying to help you out? You nodded and pointed up. They nodded back and started to swim up. As fast they can go without harming them and you.
In a couple of minutes, you were on the surface, they made sure you were ok with a thumbs up. You nodded. You opened the hatch and walked forward. You raised your hand to the leviathan. They leaned forward and touched their face with your hand. Their face was covered with smooth scales. You leaned forward and leaned your forehead on them. You felt calm, what did this Leviathan do to you? Was this power of the sea?
“A.P. is that you!?”
The rescue ship. The leviathan retreated and sunk into the water, you rushed to follow it and it sunk, it ran the last of its tentacle across your face, then down your hand, you grasping for it as if someone was falling and you were trying to save them. Once they disappeared you sunk to your feet. You felt like you just lost a loved one. What did they do to you?
From the corner of your eye, you spot something shining. It was an orange scale, their scale. A mating tradition amongst sirens and leviathans. They were courting you, this wouldn’t be the last of seeing them.
_______________________
It's been about a year since their first meeting. You moved out of your old and musty apartment and bought a house on the beach, with a boat and everything. You still work with the company that brought you here. And life couldn’t be better.
“Eclipse. How many times do I have to tell you, don’t ruin my dock. Do you know how long it took me to repair the last one?”
Eclipse curled its tentacles back into the body. Sinking further into the water. You sighed and rubbed your forehead. You walked to the dock and sat down. Beckoning to bring them further to you. They followed, wrapping their arms and tentacles around you. Leaning their head in your lap looking up at you with puppy eyes. You sighed and rubbed their rays on their head.
“‘Clispy, please don't break my dock. If you do, then how am I supposed to hold you like this?”
Their eyes brightened up, then their grin curled up in mischief. You know that look, before you could argue with them, they dragged you off the dock and into the cold ocean. You squealed.
“That’s cold!”
You laughed with Eclipse as you two spun around. Living your best life. Even if society didn’t respect your relationship. You did have a choice. As long the burnt orange scale shining in your bedroom shined. You'll continue your love for Eclipse.
Chapter 2: Day 2 - Abyss (Sun/Moon/Reader)
Summary:
Day 2 of MerMay/MalevMay. Today's topic was Abyss. So I give you Mer Sun, Moon, and Reader!
You were snatched by an unknown mer of the abyss, in return you found your mate brother and live happily together.
Chapter Text
The abyss…
The only place your mother told you to stray from.
You wonder why everymer hates it. Maybe it was the aura it gave off. Or how big yellow metal things went down and then back up. Or how it took your father away from you. Or how there isn’t any life within a few feet of it.
The abyss was this huge drop-off or cliff. You could look over the edge and it would straight down. That part wasn’t scary, what made the abyss scary was how there was no coral, no seaweed, and no fish living on the walls.
Your mother told you to not even think about it. She was one of those people who believed if you say it out loud or even think about it then it’ll come true.
You were against it, every time you would go back home from your job, you would pause right at the edge and look. Many Mers went missing when they swam over it. Would you go missing?
“Woah there! You almost got caught!”
You were pulled back, you didn’t even know that you were beginning to swim over it. Until a Mer saved you, you turned around to look how it was. You smiled and giggled
“Sorry, I was lost in thought.”
You swam closer to the Mer, they were your lovely mate. Your lovely Sun. They were oh so careful of the abyss. It took his brother a while ago. They were so sad when it happened. It took them a while to come out of their cave.
You swam behind them and nuzzled under their chin, releasing a purr. They gave you a coo back and started to swim around you. They grabbed your hand and led you further away from the Abyss.
“We should get back home before night falls.”
You looked back to the abyss and then nodded. Prying your eyes from it and swimming with your mate hand in hand, back to the little cave you call home. Your cave was nothing special, it was an inhabited coral home near the neighborhood, and there was a kelp garden in the back. It was spacious inside with a nest full of small and soft things you were given and presented during your courtship with your mate
Speaking of your mate, Sun, when they saw you staring into the abyss they were coming off of his shift at the daycare they ran. They were good with the guppies. They seemed to absolutely love them. Sun loved their job. You came back from your job, you were the hunter in your section of the neighborhood, gathering food for everymer.
Anyways, back to your home. You entered the den and dropped off the fish you caught in the ditch you kept the food in, so later you could prep them for the others. Sun swam past the nest and up to pin up some more pictures they were given today by the guppies. They were their prized possession, beside you.
You looked through the window. You had a view of the abyss, the only reason why Sun hated this den. You just stared into it, like it was calling you, that you didn’t even hear Sun calling for you,
“--Starlight? Are you okay? You’ve been ignoring me.”
“Y-yeah, just lost in thought.”
“I like we should move closer to the sea grass, you’ve been getting distracted by the drop-off and I’ve caught you more than twice swimming out to it.”
“Yeah, I understand.’’
Sun swam up and wrapped its arms around your waist and nuzzled its head in your nape. You leaned back and reached up and scratched their chin, releasing a purr from them. You giggled.
“How did I get so lucky to have you as my mate, Sunny.”
“You bribed me with the fishes.”
“Hey!”
“Just joking!”
You two laughed and nuzzled foreheads together, calming down from the depressing thoughts of the abyss. Sun leaned back and grabbed your shoulders.
“Roxanne is hosting a party tonight in the prairie, I think we should go.”
“Yeah, it’ll keep my mind off of the Abyss.”
Sun beamed and grabbed your hand and started to get ready for the party. You froze and turned around, you felt like something was watching you, from the Abyss. You prided your eyes on them and focused on grooming your scales, sand and skin would get stuck in between your scales, dulling their shine. Once you were finished with that, you would groom your frills and Sun’s rays. They had a hard time grooming them since they couldn’t see them. You enjoyed helping them, they would always give the cutest sounds.
You were deemed clean enough, you swam hand in hand to the prairie to the party. The neighborhood was populated as the city, Sun came from the city stating that the reef was better and less stress-inducing.
You were greeted by the different mers, you weren’t able to go out as often when you started your job hunting. You missed socializing with the others. The party had a stone with different foods on it like clams, crabs, fish, and even shrimp! Shrimp was a delicacy out in the reef, you never miss a chance to have some. When you munching down on the shrimp you heard a groan, deep and sounded distressed. You dropped your shrimp and swam towards the sound, you were met with the edge of the Abyss. At night, it was even darker than it was during the day.
You swam forward, being right above the drop-off. Then there were purple eyes staring at you from below. They grew bigger as they grew closer to you. Until it was directly above you. It was a bunny-octopus hybrid mer.
“Little fish, far from home.”
A tentacle rose and grazed your face, this was the calling from the Abyss. He was calling you to the Abyss. His tentacle slowly wrapped around your tail and waist and then around your neck. He grew closer to you, he was rotting, decomposing, dying.
In the next couple of seconds, it happened in a flash. The sound of Sun and the other mers calling from you, the tentacles wrapping tighter around you, and then the sudden drop into the Abyss, light quickly escaping from your view, the only thing you saw before everything turned black, was Sun’s eyes. How you wished you would have moved closer to the sea grass now.
The bunny slammed you onto the ground, covered in rocks. You couldn’t see what was happening, it was too dark for you, you were trying to escape him, but his tentacles weren’t letting go of you anytime soon.
You tried your best at clawing the tentacle around your tail, the suction cups getting a better grip, unfortunately. He was now dragging you closer to his body, bringing you to his beak. He was going to eat you, you yelled for help, grabbing onto a rock nearby for leverage. You heard something from the front of you, there was something else down here with you.
The grip on your tail was gone, leading you to fly forward and your head hitting the wall. Your vision got fuzzy and you could see white, the sounds of the two mer fighting were worrying you. Eventually, a pair of hands grabbed you by the waist and swam far away for the bunny mer, the said mer letting out a growl and having difficulties now with his missing tentacles.
Now the next thing to worry about was the mer holding you. You tried to get out of their grip, only for them to hiss at you.
“Sssstop it. I’m ssssaving you, idiot.”
You stopped and cried, at this rate, you’ll never be able to rejoin your mate, and you’ll die, alone, and in the dark. The mer swam up and into a cave in the drop-off. Setting you down on a nest and pulling a rock to the entrance of the cave. This was probably where you were going to die. You cried harder now.
“Why are you crying now? I ssssaved you.”
“I'll never get to see my mate ever again!”
You cried, curled into yourself, and wept, you only wanted to be in the arms of your Sunny. The other mer groaned and the same near the wall, touching it left a glowing substance behind it. You looked at it, then touched the wall next to you, it glowed as well.
“Bioluminesssscent algae. Common in the dark zone.”
“Who are you?”
“Ssssomeone losssst to the abysssss. Who’sss your mate?”
“A mer, named Sunny. They told me to be wary of the abyss, and I didn’t listen to them at all. I’m a horrible mate!”
“Sssssssun? You're their mate?”
“Do you know them?”
The mer started to glow, their entire body had white dots on them, and they looked like the night sky. They had what looked like a nightcap, and at the end was a yellow glowing star. They looked very familiar to Sun, is this Moon?
“You. You are Moon.”
“You know me?”
“My Sunny talks about you whenever they get a chance to, how they lost you to the abyss all those years ago, is this where you went?”
They look surprised that their brother still talks about them, and to their mate. They felt relieved.
“If you're alive, does this mean that-”
“I'm the only other mer down here bessssssidesssssss the octopussss. He’ssss killed all the otherssss, I would know.”
“Oh, okay then, thanks.”
You sunk into yourself again, then looked at them.
“Then why are you down here?”
Moon looked at you and then pulled their tail towards you, their fin tail was torn into two. They aren’t able to swim upwards. Then pulled it back into them. Hiding it. You reached over and grabbed their hand, they turned their head over to your way, they leaned forward and nuzzled their head against your jaw, purring. You giggled and cooed at them.
“I can help you, my tail still works, he didn’t get to them.”
“To risssky, he’ll catch you asssss ssssoon you try to ssssscale the wall.”
“Then let's do it now, while he’s injured.”
Moon looked over at you and nodded. They rolled the rock out of the way and waited, sensing where he was. He was in his cave weeping and the injuries he’s gotten. Moon dragged you out and told you to swim while they were holding your hand. So you did what you did best and swam up. You used rocks and cliffs as leverage. Pulling yourself closer to the top. A roar was heard, he heard you, and now was after you both, you swam faster, losing energy fast. Moon was trying their best to help you out by climbing as well. You could see the ledge.
You grabbed the ledge and threw Moon over it, and then pulled yourself up and kept swimming, dragging Moon through the sand until they got the idea. Once you deemed yourself far enough, you slowed down and lay in the sand, right beside Moon, panting.
“We did it.”
You looked at Moon and smiled, they turned to you with wide eyes almost crying.
“Welcome home Moony.”
“SSSSSTARLIGHT!!!!”
You sat up and looked behind you, you smiled and tears formed. You swam towards your mate, crashing into them and falling into the sand crying and laughing. Cuddling them and squeezing them as if they were going to float away.
“I thought you were gone! Forever! Leaving me like Moon!”
Sun cried and pulled away from you, cupping your face. You leaned forward and bumped foreheads with them and nuzzled.
“I could never leave you, never. And speaking of Moon, look who I found.”
You pulled away and pulled them to Moon, Sun’s eyes widened and they slowly swam towards their brother. They slowly reached out and cupped their brother's face, observing the scar they got over the year being stuck in the Abyss.
“Moony…welcome home.”
Moon's eyes widened and finally let the tears spill out and cried, long and hard. You three moved the reunion to the den and talked about what happened when Moon was gone. You three moved into the seagrass, far from the Abyss, and not once, did you look at it.
Chapter 3: Day 3 - Bioluminescent (Moon/Reader)
Summary:
Day 3 of MerMay, today's topic: Bioluminescent. So I give you Mer Moon and Human Reader!
You are deathly afraid of the dark, but there was a new attraction in the dark zone of your favorite aquarium, was it worth the risk? In short words, yes, yes it was.
Notes:
(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
You were scared of the dark. Terrified of it. It grew with you when you moved out of the house. You couldn’t last a light without a night light. You had those little plug-in lights that you had at every plug. The first time you went without a light, you had a full-blown panic attack. Never again.
Today you manage to get out of the house and hang out with a couple of friends at the aquarium. The aquarium was a peaceful place for you to wind down from a stressful day, maybe it was the light and how the water redacted it to create the waves to be visible on the wall.
You visited this aquarium a lot when you were young, it was your favorite place to be, all of your birthdays were held here, and all of your dates and the class field trips. The best place on earth for you.
You meet with your friend at the ticket booth, they wave you down. You rushed over to them and talked about how you were excited.
“But you go here almost every day.”
“No, not every day.”
“You have an annual pass to here.”
You smiled and shrugged your shoulders, you guys walked up to the booth to get the tickets, when a poster caught your attention. It read ‘New Mer Attractions! Come meet them in the Reef next to the Manta Rays and the Dark Zone with the jellyfish!’
The dark zone…the one place you never walked in the entire aquarium. Your friend pointed the poster out to you, and you nodded and said to check them out. You walked through the place, looking through the tanks at the sea creatures, you stopped at the Manta Ray tank, looking for the Mers. a flash of yellow swam by, you tried to follow it, but it was too fast.
When you looked one way it would go the other, then it slammed itself onto the glass, scaring you. The mer backed away but his hands were still on the glass, looking worried. It was the new mer. They had round flat faces, and there were frills around their head, looking like the sun. their tail was a shimmering yellow with white stripes, looking like an overgrown clownfish. The tv from above the screen tore your eyes away from the mer.
The tv showed a video of the mer before they were released to the public, it was an energetic and bright mer, who was very playful to guests and the other fishes. Their name was Sun. you look back at Sun, their tail was wagging, and they had a bright smile on their face. You smiled back and waved. They beamed at the interaction and waved back doing a little flip.
You giggled at the fostered and continued to walk around the area, looking at the different attractions and playing around in the touch pool. Your friend dragged you to the starfish area before you saw the Dark Zone. you just stared at the decorations around it. Little stars and pictures of cartoon jellyfish. Then there was a poster to the right. ‘New Mer In Here! Come See Them!’. You lowered your head.
“Is that where the other mer is?”
You nodded, your friend knew of your fear of the dark. They held your hand and turned on the flashlight on their phone and dragged you inside. Slowly, they led you through the hallway, staying close to the tanks where the light was coming from.
You saw the new tank that was holding the new mer in it. There was kelp around it, with glowing jellyfish around and some sea stars on the glass. Not much fish in here for comfort. Your friend came around and held your hand again looking into the tank.
“The worker here said that the new mer in this tank can glow.”
“That's reassuring, I can at least look for them.”
“You're going to be okay if I can use the bathroom real quick? It's in the touch pool.”
“Huh? Yeah, I think I’ll be okay.”
Your friend gave you a worried smile and patted your shoulder, and you watched them disappear in the dark. You turned your eyes to the ground and took a deep breath. You could feel your heart slowly rising, maybe it was a bad idea not to go with your friend. You grabbed your shirt, and you felt like you were drowning, breathing getting harder and harder with every second passing.
You slowly sat on the floor with one hand on the glass and the other on your chest. You couldn’t swallow at all, your throat getting dry along with your mouth. The tears starting to roll down your cheek now, you opened your eyes and saw something against the glass, you couldn’t get a grasp on what was real or not anymore. You felt cold throughout your body but your head was getting hot, you curled against the glass, trying to be in the light as best as you can.
You slowly opened your eyes, you saw little dots of yellow and white coming into focus. You are still having trouble breathing. It was the new mer. They were glowing, what was the word? Right, bioluminescence. When creatures create their light. This mer was capable of doing it. You could figure out what the mer was doing, they were rising the hands with palms up and then lowering them with palms down. They were telling you to breathe in and out.
You followed them, breathing in and out when they gestured to do so. Once you were able to get a couple of breaths in you started to cry harder. You were still in the dark, alone, and cold. The mer tapped on the glass, getting your attention.
You met their eye for the first time, they were black with red irises, a little nightmare fuel but their appearance made them look non-threatening at the most. They were actually kind of cute. They looked relieved that I managed to come back into reality.
They backed up from the glass and held their hands in front of them, like saying to hold on for one moment. They swam away behind some rock and kelp, you turned away and looked to the hallways, and you felt another pa attack going on. The mer came back and tapped on the glass. They were holding a shell, you looked at them confused. They smiled and rubbed their hand against it and started to glow, the shell might of had some glowing algae on it.
It was kind of nice of them to distract you from the dark, it felt good not being alone. Then the lights turned on, blinding you for a moment and scaring away the mer, you reached out to them, feeling sad that they were gone.
“Miss! Are you okay?”
You turned around and saw an employee and your friend running towards you. Your friend dropped to the ground and hugged you, the employee sitting next to you with an IPad in hand.
“I should’ve waited till we were both out of the Dark Zone! I’m so sorry.”
Your friend pulled away from the hug to look at you, they had a sad and worried look on their face,
“All of the bathrooms were closed in the aquarium so I went to the one in the gift shop and when I exited, one of the employees told me that you were crying, you were having a panic attack.”
“I’m fine now, somebody was there to help me.”
You turned around and caught eyes with the mer, they paused before swimming forward to you, in the light they were dark blue with a white underbelly, looking like a shark.
“Moon did? They aren’t very social, it’s surprising just seeing them this close in person...”
The employee patted your shoulder smiling at you.
“...they must like you a lot.”
You smiled and turned away, looking back at Moon, they perked up when you made eye contact with them.
“So as an apology for sending you into a panic attack, we are deciding to make the Dark Zone more friendly for kids and adding more lights as well. Also, ill give you a pass to 2 free things in the gift shop.”
You looked at the employee and smiled, a little nervous to ask.
“Do you sell Sun and Moon plushies? By any chance?”
Notes:

Chapter 4: Day 4 - Arctic (Sun/Moon/Reader)
Summary:
Day 4, I present to you the Arctic, so I give you Human Sun and Moon and Selkie Reader!
I wanted to be sneaky, so I added two different endings, on with sun and one with moon, they both have different endings obvi. The celestial brother was sent to the Arctic to research a mammal that is very close to being extinct, hopefully, they can help them out, in more ways than one.;)
Chapter Text
Sun and Moon were on an expedition to the Arctic to observe the life around the environment. Recently there was an increase in biodiversity, a new organism of mammals was introduced to the environment and they were tasked to study it. Hopefully, it wasn’t hostile.
When Sun and Moon stepped off of the boat and onto the snow they were greeted by Freddy, he was their senior and acting as their guide while they were in the Arctic. Freddy greeted them and told them about the base and took a tour around it.
“We were so glad to have some researchers on board, most of us are more focused on experiments and repaired some of the ecosystems around.”
“What's happening with the ecosystems?”
“That new mammal, apparently is an endangered species, so we can’t kill it, but we can’t remove it either.”
“What happened to the rest? This was very recent.”
“Afton happened, he found out that their coats were silky smooth like chinchillas and their meat was delectable, like steak.”
“Damn that Afton.”
“Yeah, fortunately, he was banned from doing any environmental projects.”
“That serves him right.”
They continue to talk about the mammal. It was an adult female, they took some pictures as soon they found them, but they keep stealing and eating from the researchers' traps, affecting their data. So they were tasked with what was affecting their behavior.
They started tomorrow, around 7 o’clock when the researchers started their first experiment, hoping to lure them out. They retired to their rooms and looked at the pictures Freddy lent to them.
They were beautiful creatures, the first thing that caught their attention was that they were a selkie. Half-human, half-seal. So they weren’t going to be lost to Afton. Freddy said that they rescued some selkies from Afton that were already mated, the female was expecting soon. They would start rehabilitation for the species once they all got back to the Arctic.
But back to the selkie, they were one of a kind, their coat was light brown with shite stripes circling them, in their selkie form, their eyes were black. But in their human form, their eyes were a sort of color that couldn’t be described, they had long wavy hair that covered their body and fair skin. They looked ethereal.
“They are such a cutie, Moon. such a poor thing swimming around by themselves, alone in the cold dark sea.”
Sun flopped over on their bed, holding onto a picture of the selkie in their human form. What they would've risked to graze their finger across their skin and comb their fingers through their hair.
Moon on the other hand held a picture of the selkie form close to their laptop, typing away, writing down a daily journal. They didn’t care as much as Sun about the selkie. It was just another selkie in Afton's way of public pleasure. But they had to admit, they were pretty cute.
“Tomorrow is when we’ll first see them, hope they’ll live up to your expectation.”
Sun smiled and pinned the picture to their corkboard next to the door, they grazed their finger one more time over the picture and went to bed. Moon followed shortly after, saving their journal and turning off the laptop.
__________
When they first woke up they met up with Freddy and Captain Foxy near the edge of the land. The researcher dropped the bait and waited, eventually an underwater camera confirmed a familiar heat source. Sun and Moon pulled out their binoculars and waited for them to breach.
Eventually, they breached, they were in their selkie form, and they hopped across the ice moving toward the bait. They slowly started to eat, they knew that they were being watched, they were familiar with the crew, and some of the nicer members would leave them extra samples from the lab, and the non, well they would straight up ignore them, didn’t matter to them.
They scanned the area, stopping when they say Sun and Moon, two new additions. They were pretty cute, but just another face to watch them eat.
“The cool thing is that over the last few months, they formed a connection with Roxanne. They are like best buddies now.”
On cue, Roxanne walked over to the selkie and sat down with her legs crossed. They couldn’t hear what they were talking about but sooner or later they shed their fur, revealing their human form. They were just as beautiful in person as in the picture, Sun couldn’t tear their eyes away.
“Ain’t that a beauty.”
Moon smirked, their hand pinching their chin. Sun scowled at them. Then out of a sudden, a gunshot was heard. Scaring everyone, including the selkie. They put back on their fur and swam away, Freddy looked towards the right, where the sound came from.
It was a ship, signaling off a canon, luckily there wasn’t a threat, and were just passing by. The entire crew visibly calmed down, but Sun and Moon were upset, their selkie was gone.
“Don’t worry, they will be back tomorrow.”’
_____________
SUN’S VERSION
Sun couldn’t sleep, they were still on their mind. They had to see them again, and that's what they did. They crawled out of bed and took a flashlight with them, trying their best to not wake up Moon, luckily they were heavy sleepers.
The winds at night could get pretty intense during certain times of the year, luckily they missed the strong wind. They stole a bucket of shrimp to bribe them to come out and walked to the edge where Roxanne was and sat down throwing some shrimp once in a while.
Eventually, the shrimp on the surface would go missing quicker than others, they were here! Sun beamed and leaned over the edge getting a better view, they could see the selkie from a few feet down looking up at them.
The selkie slowly swam up, Sun leaned back to give them room. Once they breached the surface they snuffed out Sun. Once they didn’t smell anything dangerous they relaxed more, but not coming out of the water. Sun scooted closer to the edge, leaning over again.
The selkie got closer to Sun, only a hairs length away, when then suddenly the wind swept in and pushed Sun into the cold water. Falling on top of the selkie, it was like in slow motion, Sun hand’s covering their mouth to keep the air in. When they opened their eyes they were in their human form, butt naked with their covering their chest and their bottom, the water flowing through their hair and their hand coming up to Sun, grabbing onto their cheeks and pulling them in, their lips coming into contact, the selkie’s eyes were closed and Sun’s were wide open. It took a minute for Sun to realize that they were sharing air.
Slowly the selkie pulled away and brought Sun to the surface, pulling them onto the ice, they were coughing up water while the selkie pulled themselves over and slid over to Sun, leaning over them. They rolled them to their side to get a good look at them. Sun finally calmed down and took a deep breath before opening their eyes to look at the human-selkie. Sun sat up.
“Hey…”
The selkie blinked at them and tilted their head.
“I’m Sun and I wanted to meet you personally, and it was worth it.”
They were shaking from the cold, hypothermia already setting in. The selkie knew that they wouldn’t survive without proper warmth, luckily they run hotter than most.
“You…cold…”
Huh? I-Yeah, I am getting cold, but it was worth it for seeing this close.”
“Need to be warm…now…or die…”
The selkie stood up on their feet and pulled Sun up and dragged them to their bed, when they go to their door, Sun opened it up, and the selkie let themself in. The selkie pushed Sun to the bed and crawled in, covering themselves with their fur and the extra blankets. Sun was practically frozen, not from the cold, but because the cute selkie was in their bed, cuddling with them, they were worried about them. Sun got comfy around them, wrapping their arms around them and snuggling in close, Moon was going to get so jealous when they woke up.
________________
MOON’S VERSION
Moon woke up the next morning, they rubbed their eyes and turned to look over at their brother, who was already up and walking around with a cup of coffee. They wanted to see the selkie, the mysterious, pretty, darling selkie.
When Moon was finished dressing up for the day and walking out, they looked out to the edge where the selkie was yesterday, god, what they would give up to see them. They walked around the rocky shores looking for some life to take pictures of and write about. That's when they saw them, the selkie, in their naked glory, looking out to the sea.
Moon froze and gulped, walking loud so they could hear them and slowly so they wouldn’t swim away. When the selkie noticed them, they turned their head to them and then back to the sea. Something was off about them, Moon got closer and sat down next to them, they were getting fidgety with them being so close.
“What’s wrong, you seem distance recently.”
The selkie breathed out and looked down at their coat, and clenched it.
“Sad…miss them…so much…”
“Your pod?”
The selkie nodded and was starting to shake, Moon thought they were cold, so they wrapped their arms around them, the selkie froze and looked at Moon, they weren’t cold, theory were on the verge of crying, and the hug pushed them over. They cried hard a loud, they were clenching onto Moon, practically crawling into their lap, Moon ignored the feelings running through them and just focused on them for a minute.
Moon thought it was a good idea to bring them back to their room, where it was warm and safe, Moon didn’t want them to be pushed into a panic attack so they moved slowly, with Moon carrying them all the way.
Once they were in bed, Moon covered them with the covers and their coat and sat down behind them, they also had snuck in some shrimp snacks. The selkie cuddled in close and nuzzled their head under their chin and stayed there for a good while before they wrapped their arms around them.
“Thank you…”
Moon smiled down at them and held them closer, kissing their forehead.
“Don’t worry about it, I’ll always be here, I’ll help you through everything if I can.”
The selkie looked up at them with doe eyes and tilted their head with a red tint on their face.
“Everything?”
“Yes, little seal.”
“If I needed to breed…you will help me?”
Moon’s face turned red, and started to steam by the ears, the selkie laughed at the reaction they had on them. The selkie nuzzled closer into them.
“If you allow me then I will provide you with my all.”
Now it was the selkie's turn to be red as a tomato, they covered their face with their hands and fell over.

Chapter Text
You were in New York, the city that never sleeps. Like you, you don’t remember the last time you slept. It was probably a while ago before you found out about the next big-time treasure. Something like the lost city of Atlantis. But smaller, it was more like a lost cave, full of civilization, before a flood came by and destroyed their city.
You did some more research on it and found out that a lot of explorers proved that it was real, but it was hard to navigate without a local, and the locals wouldn’t agree to take you. Doesn’t matter how much you give them, they wouldn’t say yes.
So you were meeting up with a family relative of a local to discuss some prices and try to convince them to allow them to help you. You were in a coffee shop buying your second cup of black coffee. You looked around looking for a moon-shaped animatronic.
Once you found them, you waved your hand to get their attention, once they made eye contact with you they turned and walked your way. You met them halfway and shook their hand.
“Good evening! You must be Moon, right?”
“Yes, in all my glory.”
They smiled at you, you turned your head and blushed, then back at them, you suggested going somewhere private for more talking. Once you did you started to trade pictures.
“So, I don’t owe you anything?”
“No, not to me anyways. You owe my relatives, they won’t be as kind and only take your money after the service, they are a sly fox, I would be careful around them.”
They smiled and walked away, you were left in the alleyway with an address and photos, and a map. You looked at the address and started to book the flight to Chile.
__________________
Once they stepped foot into their hotel room, they didn’t care for the looks, once they dropped off their luggage they went to make another cup of coffee, it was a lot richer than the stuff their local coffee shop made. They sat at the desk and called the number with a notepad nearby, pen in hand. The phone picked up.
“Hi, I’m the explorer your relative Moon told you about.”
“Yes, I’m glad you made it to Chile.”
His voice over the phone was deep and musky, it made them stop and process that it was for business, not pleasure.
“I-I- Yes, the flight wasn’t bad. I’m hoping we can meet up by the town square and start working.”
“Today? Why not tomorrow? I bet you're experiencing jet lag.”
“No, I don't get lag. I feel fine.”
“Ok, it would be best to work at dusk, the path to the cave will be revealed when the moon starts to show.”
“Ok, see you there.”
“See you soon, little explorer~”
They froze and were nervous. I said my goodbyes and hung up. This was going to be harder than expected with a man that sounded like an angel working with them for hours. Lord have mercy on them. They chugged down the rest of their coffee and started packing for the trip.
____________________
They arrived at the town square, there weren't a lot of people around for being in the daylight. They took a deep breath and sat by the fountain. They pulled out a notepad and started dribbling certain stuff on their mind, they were pulled from their trance when a warm hand was placed on their shoulder.
“Little explorer?”
They turned around and held the notepad to their chest and stared at the animatronic in front of them, they were screwed. He was so fine! They had a sun theme going on, but instead of yellow and white, it was burnt orange and red with some browns. They looked like an eclipse. They had bagged clothes with a set of keys in his hand and a bag of his own.
“Y-Yes? That's me.”
“Good, now let's go, follow me.”
They both walked away and to the docks, where multiple boats were docked at. Eclipse helped them onto a boat and took their stuff, sitting them down and driving to the spot. The view from the sunset was gorgeous, almost as gorgeous as Eclipse, with hints of orange and yellow and how the clouds had shadows on others. They pulled out their camera and took a picture of it, it was going to be a while before they saw the sky again. They pulled the boat to a stop, they were here.
Eclipse pulled one of the smaller boats from the cabin and helped you on again, and started to row. They were sweating, the way the ocean water splashed on him and how his shirt was opened revealing his chest and the sleeves of his shirt rolled up past his elbows, they had to physically turn their head to stop looking before Eclipse saw them.
“You see something you like?”
FUCK.
“You could’ve just asked and I can take off my entire shirt, little mouse.
“This is for business, not pleasure. I’m so close to what I want, and no offense. But I don't want pleasure to get in the way of it.”
They let out a small laugh and narrowed his eyes at them. Smirking.
“It doesn’t have to be pleasure, it could be love-”
“Look, the cave!”
They quickly changed the subject before they had to throw themselves into the ocean before they overheated. They redirected them to a cave, Eclipse clicked his tongue in frustration at the intrusion.
Eclipse parked the boat onto the shore and helped them out of it, his touch lingering for a little while longer. They took out the map and held it up. There were two caves, one would lead to the lost treasure and the other to a pit with spikes. They carefully directed them through the caves and avoided the dangers that were around.
At the end of the cave was a cavern that had a waterfall falling down and into the bottom pooling around, there weren’t any fishes or live nearby, it was possible that this place was never touched by humans. They walked through the water, the explorer taking pictures, and recording what they were looking into a recorder.
Eclipse was close behind with a sword watching for any dangers. He looked at the explorer and smiled, they were going to mess with them, maybe flirt.
“At my town, a couple would walk this cave.”
“Huh?”
“The town elders say that when two people walk this cave, they are tied together for life.”
“What are you talking about.”
“I would like to see you more.”
The explorer turned and glared at them, a slight blush on their face. They turned around and began to walk fast, not minding their step, they slipped and fell. Eclipse sighed and jogged over. He crouched down and helped them up.
“Are you okay? You took quite a fall little mouse.”
“I think I messed up my ankle, that shit hurts.”
They leaned over and took off their shoe and sock, their ankle was starting to swell over. This couldn’t be happening. Now they're injured, they can’t complete the mission. They started to cry, hiding their face in their hands. Eclipse sighed and embraced them tightly.
“What's wrong, dove.”
“My ankle…I can’t go on anymore…I failed as an explorer.”
“It’ll be okay, you have all week to heal and on the last day you’ll come back and find what you desire.”
Eclipse took a free arm and grabbed their chin, pulling them to look at him, he smiled and leaned down, going in for a kiss. The explorer was caught off guard but slowly relaxed into the kiss, and kissing him back, both arms wrapped around his neck, pulling him in.
Eclipse leaned them down onto the ground and kissed them more, one of eclipses arms held the back of their head and the other was mounted on the ground for stabilization. The explorers kept one arm around his neck and the other on his chest, they pushed him away for air and rested their forehead on his.
They took a moment to collect themselves before opening their eyes, once they did, Eclipse smirked and giggle while the explorer hid in his shirt, embarrassed. He massaged their scalp and picked them up, along with their stuff, and walked back to the boat. The plan was for them to heal and catch up on sleep, once they were ready they went back to the cave and found the treasure, it was just a script in a language lost to time.
When they got back to the boat the explorer confessed their love to Eclipse and proposed to him to move to the States with them and to be partners in business and pleasure.

Chapter Text
“I told you so.”
You were wincing as Moon was pulling sea urchin spines from your behind, you got careless when you saw a guppy, you didn’t think to look where you were going and crashed into a wall and fell into a family of urchins.
And now you were, laid over Moon’s lap while he was pulling spikes out, it was really painful that you grabbed a nearby sea sponge and used it as a stress toy. Once he was done, he flipped you off and looked down at you with a disappointed look. You rubbed your butt and looked at him with a shamed look.
“Now what?”
“Now? You on your own for dinner, I’ll follow you so you won’t get lost.”
You groaned and started to swim off, not knowing where to go, some other shark-mer would be in the kelp forest, and the mers would be in the reef. So the next best place was the drop-off, since you were an apex mer, you had nothing to worry about, for now.
You swam towards the drop-off, Moon had to redirect you a couple of times from hitting something or someone. Once you got to the drop-off, you swam down and scooped out the wall, picking at some holes looking for something. Moon watching behind you from picking at something you shouldn’t.
You were losing hope, you couldn’t find an ounce of life to eat, you didn’t want to search the bottom, it was dark and you would get lost. Once your temper got to its limit, you threw a loose rock from the wall and yelled into the vast ocean, you were hungry and angry.
Moon leaned against the wall and looked unimpressed at you. He pulled out a fish from his back and handed it to you, you rolled your eyes at him and took it, starting to eat it. You felt humiliated, and couldn't even find food for yourself without Moon’s help. Luckily, the elder of the pod didn’t see Moon give you food without the intention of courtship.
“You good?”
You froze and slowly looked at Moon, what did he just say? You narrowed your eyes at him like he just cussed you out.
“No, I’m not, I’m hopeless. This is why I'm mateless. Can’t fend for myself.”
“Again with this mate talk, you're hopeless.”
Moon swam up and cupped your face pulling you to look at him, you pulled yourself from his grasp, swimming a few feet away.
“Why do you even hang out with me, I only cause trouble and I’m a clutz.”
“Yeah, your right.”
You shot your head at him, even though he thinks you're a nuisance. Your eyebrows furrowed and you snarled.
“How dare you-!”
He swam up to you, but before he could touch you, your claws retracted and you swatted at him. You felt resistance and heard a grunt from Moon, you froze and looked at your hand. The tips of your nails were dipped in red, and the water around them was turning red. You turned your head to look at Moon, he was clenching his left eye while the other was clenched closed, and his tail was scrunched into him.
He slowly pulled his hand away and opened his eye, blood rushed around and he closed his eye and immediately covered it, he looked at you. And you froze up and before he could reach out, you swam away.
You swam fast, not turning around when you heard your name being called. You kept a hand over your mouth and the other around your neck. You briefly stopped at the edge of the drop-off before diving in, you didn’t open your eyes, tears threatening to spill if you open them. And like everything else, you bumped into the bottom of the sea floor, precisely, bumped into a rock.
You bounced back and fell into a family of crabs, and like with the rock, they pinched you. Every single one of them. You howled, and jumped off, swimming around and kicking off the once still attached to you. Once you finished, you grabbed one of them and bashed it against a rock. It's gut spilling out. Once you got all of your anger out, you threw the remains into the dark and sat down. Your back to the wall and your tail flat in front of you.
You rested your head on your hands and wept. You hurt your only friend, your partner. A body sat next to you, just sitting there. You uncurled yourself and looked out to the ocean in front of you both. He turned his head to look at you. You looked from your peripheral, and the eye you hurt started to scab over. You released a shaky sigh and turned the opposite way.
He swam up to you and pulled you into an embrace. Was he joking with you? He has to be. You tried to push away but he only held you closer and tighter. It was just overwhelming now, so you started crying. You hid your face in his neck and he petted your head.
“So dumb, so dumb and stupid, just a baby, does not know anything.”
He said as he pulled away and looked at your nose looking for damage. It was bruising over, not broken thankfully. He kissed your nose and squashed your cheeks together. Making fish lips, with his other hand he wiped away your tears, he let go of your face and held out another fish for you to eat, and you took it. He smiled at you.
“And with that mate talk, you can have me. You can stay home with me, I’ll hunt for the both of us, and you can give me comfort.”
You looked at him, with fish in your mouth in shock. You hurt him, and he was accepting you as a mate. What was wrong with him?
“Don’t think about it too hard.”
“Shut up.”
He giggled and embraced you again, purring. You let out a puff and finished the fish.
“Did you hurt anything else?”
“I fell into a pit of crabs and they all pinched me.”
“Idiot.”

Chapter 7: Day 7 - Mythology (Sun/Reader)
Summary:
Day 7 of Malev/MerMay. The topic in Mythology. So I give you Pirate Sun and Siren Reader.
The Starlight crew was sent by the king of the old world to get rid of a particular pest in the gulf. Once Sun manages to shoot them down, he feels bad and goes down to help. This go smoother than expected.
Notes:
(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
Sun and Moon were on board the Starlight, a pirate ship, they were crossing the Atlantic getting away from a petty king who wants them to kill a siren that’s been prohibiting them from importing goods to the Gulf. Now, they usually don’t kill sea animals, nonetheless a siren, capable of killing an entire fleet with one cord. But the price of their killing was heavy and the money could repair the Starlight over 3 times.
Money is money. And pirates love money, so they were on their way to the Gulf to kill the siren.
_____________
Once they got there they anchored the ship in the middle of the Gulf and waited. They had to be very careful because this part of the Gulf was in the middle of the Bermuda Triangle and it was foggy, the fog didn’t seem to go away anytime soon, so they couldn’t trust their sight, they could only trust their hearing and touch. Besides the cargo ships from the King, many other ships were also sunk here. Underneath them was a ship graveyard.
The Starlight’s crew was a mixture of men and animatronics. The humans had to be stored within the ship with the doors locked, animatronics were immune to the siren's song. That was the plus one of being made of metal, but the downside was that if they were dragged into the water they would sink and wouldn’t be able to breach the surface.
Sun took his position at the wheel and Moon was at the crow’s nest, the rest of the crew was scattered around the desk, everyone welding guns or harpoons. They kept silent and waited for a sound. Sun heard a splash from the back of the ship. He slowly turned around, cocking his gun and pointing it over the ledge. Waiting for another movement.
Splash
Bang!
A cry was heard then followed by a loud screech. Sun smiled with all of his teeth showing and yelled in joy.
“I’ve got you, you bloody fish! That's what happens when you mess with us, pirates!”
The siren was still screeching, but it slowly died off to a soft cry, Sun softened his face and he felt bad about the siren. It was in pain, pirates only caused pain. Sun threw his gun back and walked onto the deck, he walked to the edge and dropped one of the smaller boats for boarding land, then jumped into it and started to row.
He rowed to the back where he shot the siren and looked around or waited to hear something. He leaned over and saw a trail of red-tinted water on the surface and a moan. He rowed towards the sound and saw that the red water was getting bolder and eventually, that's where they saw them, the siren.
They were belly up and clearly in pain, their eyes were squeezed shut. Sun took a moment to absorb their features, they had fins coming from the side of their head, and the webbing in between where knick, this wasn’t their first violent encounter with land walkers. They had a faded scar running down from their left eyebrow and running across their face to the right side of their lips. Further down were their gills, then lower down was their scared and tattered chest, then lower was their tail. This part was the most damaged of all of them; scales were missing, scars were evident, not to mention the bullet hole on the side of their tail. Sun could still see the bullet inside of them, he sighed in disappointment and scooted forward, reaching out before he heard a growl.
He jerked back his hand and looked at the siren, their eyes showed pain and maliciousness, Sun hesitated before speaking.
“I can help you, you know.”
The siren turned over with a grunt and the doggy paddled away, Sun rushed over and grabbed the siren's tail, and pulled them back. The siren let out a shriek and looked back at what Sun was doing, they snarled at him and dove down, pulling Sun with them into the ocean. Sun was doomed, he was in the siren's domain and he was a goner. He knew this was a bad idea.
As he started to sink he saw the siren right in front of him, they looked more ethereal in the water when their hair was floating around. Sun was losing air the deeper he sank. The siren followed him down, even when they touched the bottom and watched him lose consciousness. Siren waited a couple of seconds to see if he was going to try anything. The siren went behind him, pulled the gun from him and wrapped their arms underneath his armpits, and swam up to the surface.
Once they breach the surface, the siren threw Sun into the boat and jumped in with him, they winced at their wound, it had scabbed over but the bullet remains, they hoped Sun will help them, and they noticed that Sun wasn’t waking up, they tapped his nose and tossed him around. But nothing, they worried that they might have killed him, so they leaned down and touched lips with him, breathing air into his lungs and watching him.
They repeated this a couple of times before Sun shot up and coughed out the water, the siren helped him get to his side and patted his back, they saw mothers do this to their offspring so it should work the same they hope. Once Sun stopped coughing they slowly sat up, with the siren's help, and looked at them. They still intended to harm him in their eyes, but it was paired with hesitation. Sun reached out and touched them, right below their neck, to get a feeling that they were here and he wasn’t dead.
After a while, the siren slapped his hand away and crossed their arms over the chest. Sun let out a strained laugh and continued to look. Then he asked.
“You pulled me into the water, then you saved me? You must be one weird fish.”
The siren scowled at the name, fish. They weren’t a fish, half-yes. But it was still an offending title to give a siren. They rolled their eyes, pointed at the bullet hole, and then to Sun. It took Sun a while to get the memo, he gave them a thumbs up and dug into the boat for a spare first aid in case of emergencies, like these. He grabbed a pair of tweezers and put a hand right next to the whole and looked up at them, he gestured what he was about to do.
The siren’s eyes widened and they nodded, they grabbed a hold of the edge of the boat and braced themselves. Sun looked at them one last time and dug in, their tail grew tense, and held back a cry. Their grip was crushing the wood underneath their grip. Once Sun pulled the bullet out, he threw it off of the boat and went to wrap it.
The siren opened their eyes and looked down, they slowly brought a hand to their injury and then to Sun, they slowly slid out of the boat and went underneath. They went back to the surface and looked at him, they brought their hand up and motioned him to come closer. Sun leaned over and the siren landed a peck on his lips, they sunk in their eyes just over the surface before they waved goodbye and swam down.
Sun touched his lips and watch the siren swim off and down. What was he going to tell his crew?

Chapter 8: Day 8 - Gods, Deities, & Spirits (Eclipse/Reader)
Summary:
Day 8 of MalevMay/MerMay. The topic is Gods, Deities, & Spirits. So I give you Space God Eclipse and Ocean God Reader.

Chapter Text
You were pissed. You were storming in Olympis, looking for a certain celestial god. He was so dead once you got your hands on him. He thought it was the best idea to send rock into your ocean and kill a lot of fish, he even managed to end an entire species. Your species, your children.
You slammed the door open in the gathering room and spotted him, the stupid god of space, with the god of gods, Freddy. Having a meeting. You were slightly embarrassed barging in, but you grew angry once Eclipse sent you a cheeky grin. That shit-eating grin, like he knew what he did and was proud because of it.
You stormed it and kicked his chair, breaking one of the legs off and sending him to the floor. Once he hit the floor with an ‘oof’ you climbed on top of him grabbed him by his robe and proceeded to hit him against the floor. Freddy stood up and tried to pry you off of him, once he did you kept making a fuss and screamed curse words at Eclipse.
“You know, if you wanted to be the top, you could just ask, but in front of Freddy of all gods?”
Your harsh words grew in volume and variety.
________________
Once you calmed down, you sat across from Eclipse, staring at him with a glare, and he was smiling back at you. And Freddy was at the head of the table. Distraught.
“Eclipse, what did you do to upset them?”
“I didn’t do anything I think.”
“You big fat liar! You know what you did!”
You stood up and slammed your hands on the table, using a finger to point at him. Eclipse slouched in the chair and crossed his arms, letting out a sigh.
“Fine, I did do something. But I had to, if you left them evolve anymore they will be the pinnacle of human destruction.”
“So you think it's a good idea to send a fucking rock into the ocean? To eradicate the entire species and some others as well?”
“Actually, yes.”
“You mother fucker! You're so dead!”
You leaped across the table but were held back by Freddy, he was only growing lines on his forehead and every curse word you spoke. Once you calmed down, you sat back in the chair and waited for someone to speak. Once Freddy explained the consequence of killing a species which it’s realm you didn’t own, Eclipse grew ashamed, you smiled and crossed your arms. Looking smug, Eclipse didn’t like that look on your face.

You sat down at the beach, thinking about earlier today. You looked down at the shore and smiled, you stood up. You kneeled and chuckled at a horse crab, it was one of your latest creations, a collab with the war god, it was your favorite creature so far. The horse show crab was flipped over, you gently flipped it over slow and confident, and once it was flipped over it crawled back into the ocean.
You looked up and saw Eclipse looking out to the ocean. You stood up next to him and felt your temper rise. He only came to you in your domain when he wanted something from you. You sighed and turned to face him, with an unamused look.
He turned to you with a smile, not his classic smirk that reeks of trouble, but a sincere look. He was more handsome when he wasn’t planning anything.
“Look, I’m sorry about the fish.”
“No, it's understandable, I would’ve done it sooner or later.”
You two stood in silence for a while, he looked off the other side of the shore and you kicked some sand. Then he spoke.
“Did you wanna, I don’t know, from a pack, with me.”
You turned to look at Eclipse, he caught your eyes and quickly looked away. You gave him a look.
“Why would you think that?”
“I don’t know, I feel bad. And I know you’re itching to create something.”
He turned to you with a smirk showing off his sharp teeth. You scoffed and turned back to the sea.
“Yeah, I would like that.”
“Great then.”
You two brainstorm about possible collaborations. Eventually, you two found it. You created starfish that would glow like real stars in the ocean, and that wouldn’t be poisonous to the touch. And Eclipse would make the Cancer constellation.
Sometimes you would sleep outside on top of a traveling whale just to sleep under the stars. Especially in the summer when he made it for you. You feel your cheeks burning up whenever you think about it, the pattern of stars Eclipse made for you.
______________
It’s been a few years since you were in contact with any god, not after the God War. The war between gods had left a permanent scar on your physical body and the sea, there was so much hurt that you had to lock yourself away forever. The Gods left a scar on the ocean while Eclipse left one on you. You were fighting him before he raised his claws and scarred your front. Three slash marks covered the bottom of your face and half of your body. You stepped back and cried, pain running through your body. You turned to look at Eclipse, he gave you a guilted look and looked down at his hands, covered with blood then up to you. You attacked him one last time with a tsunami before disappearing.
With that came loneliness.
You cast yourself to the bottom of the Atlantic and stayed there. You cried for years and years. Eventually, your tears turned into Spirits or Ocean Nymphs. You were weeping when a hand touched your cheek, you looked up, and was jaw dropped. It was a spirit, a moon-themed one. You giggled when it tried to cheer you up. You took it into your hand and it cuddled into it.
You named it MoonDrop.
You made other little nymphs like MoonDrop so he would have friends and made a home for them all. And named it Atlantis. After a while you noticed that MoonDrop was lonely, he didn’t fit in with the other nymphs and acted like a castaway, so you decided to give him a brother. You swam to the surface of the water. Looking around for anything and took a piece of the Sun. You swam back down and held it against your chest molding its body. Once you deemed perfect you let a tear out and watched as it squirmed with life.
You named him SunDrop.
_____________
Peace doesn’t last forever.
Freddy found out about your hideout. You were tending to the farms along with Moon and Sun when Freddy let his appearance known. His aura was well known. Warm and fuzzy. You turned around and faced him. Moon and Sun shielded you from him, teeth bared and claws out. A growling was heard. You dismissed the two, they gave Freddy one look before swimming off. You told Freddy to follow you did.
You two sat in the coral reef and caught up. He told you about the aftermath and the stress it gave him and you about Atlantis. You missed talking to an actual being beside your children. He then brought up Eclipse.
You went silent. Oh, Eclipse. You had asked Freddy about him.
“Eclipse has locked himself away to Neptune, he still does his job but hasn't talked to anyone, not even me. I feel like it has something to do with you.”
“Me?!”
You were shocked, he attacked you, tormenting you since day one. Destroying things you made and ruthlessly flirting with you. You missed him a little. Whenever you did you would bring yourself to a family of crabs. That family of crabs in particular. The bigger one was a dark shade of red while the second large was blue and had many crablings follow them.
“Yes, I think he misses you, Maybe you should go up to see him, maybe talk to him.”
You pondered on that thought. You had a chance to see him, willingly.
“Maybe.”
Freddy smiled at you and got up.
“I better head back, your two helpers are drilling holes into the back of my head.”
He laughed out, you quickly turned back to meet Sun and Moon staring, they both ducked and covered. You sighed out and swam over pulling the two up. You grabbed them by their faces and pulled them in.
“Now listen you two, I have to leave and I don’t know when I’ll be back. So I’m leaving the city in your hands. I have to meet an old friend.”

It took a while to reach Neptune but you finally arrived. And quickly, you spotted Eclipse, a shining red in a sea of blue was an eye sore. You giggled before landing behind him. YOu walked up to him before he stood up.
“You know, I thought I’d never see you again.”
Nothing, all four of his arms were clenched in fists. Shaking.
“Gosh, I’ve never heard you speak so little, kind of scaring me.”
Eclipse turned around and scowled at you. A growl from him.
“I haven’t seen you in over a thousand years and this is how you greet me? Wow.”
You sighed and looked at him. You took the risk and walked up to him, almost being nose-to-nose with him, despite the height difference. His eyes were scanning over your features. The scars he left behind. His shaking simmered down before he raised a hand and cupped your face. His thumb traced over the scars. He let out a shaky sigh before touching his forehead with yours.
“I’m sorry.”
“He talks.”
He let out a snort before pulling back to look at your face again. He raised it higher before kissing your nose. You blushed and hugged him.
“God, I Missed You.”

Chapter Text
Moon and Sun had rented out a cabin on the outskirts of the city, right by the lake. They wanted a break from running the daycare and the city. When they saw that the cabin was open, they jumped at the opportunity. They rented out the cabin for a week.
When they arrived at the cabin, they took in the beauty, there was a crystal blue lake, surrounded by green and vibrant trees. The cabin itself was a beauty. Then they opened up the doors to the cabin they felt relaxed, completely. Not like ending a shift on Friday and getting ready to relax for the weekend, but more like the first day of summer.
They dropped their stuff off in the living room and further explored the cabin. Moon went to the kitchen and looked at the appliances they had. While Sun went outside, he took in the beauty of the lake. The sun gleamed off of the surface. And how it was so quiet, like how there was nothing around.
Speaking of quiet, there wasn't a bird chirping, or the wind blowing through the trees. Like this place was void of life. But there was a car coming down from the road. Sun walked towards the cabin calling out to Moon while the car parked in front of them. An automaton walked out of the car with a basket of pastries.
The automation was female with humanoid features, not like them. She gave them a warm smile before stopping at the foot of the steps, in front of Sun.
“Good morning! I hope I didn’t intrude.”
“No! Nothing of the sort just….admiring the outside.”
Sun looked out to the lake once more, the girl looked as well. Then turned back to Sun.
“I’m Brillo, a distant relative of mine who owns the cabin and property.”
“Oh! What a surprise! I’m Sun and my brother inside is Moon, but he’s a bit anti-social.”
“I see. Well, here, these are for you and your brother.”
She held out the basket and Sun took it, it was fresh and warm. He thanked her before walking inside, he stopped by a tug on his shirt, and he turned back to her. She was giving him a worried look.
“Is something wrong? You look a bit pale?”
Brillo wanted to say something but was cut off by another car pulling in, she froze and left with her car. Fleeing the scene. Sun watched the scene unfold and a human walked to him. She looked like a Karen. Sun sighed and placed the basket down.
“Are you renting out the cabin?”
“Ah, yes we are! Is there an issue?”
“Actually, yes. Yes, there is.”
She walked passed Sun and tried to get inside the cabin. Sun blocked the entrance with his arms and smiled weakly at her.
“I do think that's not how you greet guests, right? Friend?”
“Listen, I don’t know what that robot told you, but you better leave. This cabin is haunted.”
“Haunted?!”
On cue, Moon walked in.
“Moon! The cabin is haunted!”
Moon gave him a look before glaring at the human.
“If you don’t believe me, then stay and find out. You’ll regret it.”
______________
Moon was in the kitchen cooking dinner while Sun was looking through the window. There was something about that lake that was enticing and luring him in. But he couldn’t put his finger on it. Moon walked in placed his and Sun’s food down and ate together. Every once in a while Sun would look at the lake every couple of bites.
“What did the automaton tell you.”
“Huh. Oh! She just said how a relative of hers owns the cabin! She was going to say something else but was cut off by that human.”
“Rude much.”
Sun nodded. Sun gathered both of their plates when they were done and washed them. After that, they went to bed. Moon fell asleep rather quickly while Sun couldn’t because of what the human said about the cabin being haunted. He took the opportunity to slip out of bed and exit the cabin walking to the lake.
There was a dock, he walked across it and sat down at the end, brought a blanket, and wrapped himself. He took a breath in and sighed. He looked across the lake and noticed the cliff at the far end. Moon mentioned that it used to be a waterfall and a dam was built further up stopping the flow.
He looked back to the surface and noticed something floating. He leaned forward and tried to get a better look. When he found that useless and found a rock on the deck and decided to throw it. Whatever it was, it was alive. Once the rock hit it, it let out a yelp then a growl, and dived back into the lake. Sun froze when they saw whatever it was swimming to him. It glowed from underneath the surface, gliding smoothly so it wouldn’t break the surface.
Once it reached him, it swam underneath the dock and didn’t appear again. Sun released the breath he didn’t know he was holding and changed his position. He grabbed the edge of the dock before leaning over and looking under the dock. And there staring at him were two big beautiful eyes, almost similar to cat eyes. He pulled himself up and fell backward, hitting the deck.
Something like a horror movie, an arm shot up from the edge and clawed the edge, and then the other arm shot up. Whoever or whatever pulled itself up from the water and flopped onto the deck. Then they started to crawl towards Sun. Rapidly.
Sun managed to turn around and stand on his legs, but he tripped, and his ankle was caught by the thing. They were pulling him to them. Eventually, Sun was underneath the creature, Sun squeezed his eyes shut and started praying. But nothing came, he could hear heavy breaths, almost pants, Sun opened one of his eyes, peaking at them.
The creatures were fairly humanoid, the only difference they had was the fins emerging from the side of their head, the gins pulsating on their neck and the patches of scales littering their complexion. They looked like something straight from mystery cartoons. They didn’t make any moves, just staring.
Eventually, they start to sniff, something like a cat then one big aggressive one. Their pupils instantly dilated. They sat down on Sun with an off and waited. Sun slowly sat up and leaned on his arms, with them behind him. Sun looked nervous, turning his head around to try to break the intense staring they were giving him. Then it happened.
They raised a hand to Sun’s face and traced the swirl above his eye. Sun stopped breathing at this point, they were so close to his face with their claws extended out, breathing heavily, and eyes wide. They leaned in closer, their nose in the nook of his neck, smelling him. Then the cabin door slammed open.
Sun and the creature looked to the door as Moon stepped out with a rifle. He cocked it before running towards them, aiming at the creature. The being growled and rushed back into the lake swimming away without a chance for him to shoot.
When Moon got to Sun, aiming at the lake for any movement. Once he deemed that the creature was gone, he turned to Sun hauling him by his upper arm and into the cabin. He threw him onto the couch and placed the rifle back on the stand mounted to the wall then turned to him.
“What were you thinking!? Getting yourself killed?!”
Moon pointed at Sun, anger visible on his face. He dropped his hand and pinched his eyebrows. Sun adjusted himself on the couch and wiped the sweat from his hands to his shirt. He let out a shaky sigh and looked outside to the lake. He swore that he saw something dive into the lake as soon he looked.
Moon looked to the window and walked over, closing the curtains.
_______________
The next night, Sun took one of the conveniently placed boats on the shore and rowed out. He didn’t know why he did. He got a scolding from Moon from the morning about not going back to the lake. Now, usually, Moon was the rulebreaker but tonight it was him, under better circumstances he wouldn't be doing this, but it was almost like he was being pulled to the lake.
Sun got out to the middle of the lake, the moon directly under him, a full moon tonight it seemed. Sun waited for something to happen, he took off his shoes and socks and dipped his feet in the water. The water below was completely pitch black. You couldn’t see the bottom and he didn’t want to know how deep it was.
Sun waited around for about an hour before something happened. He was looking out to the trees when something grazed his foot, Sunshot out of his seat and fell backward, he corrected his stance, not wanting to get pinned on the boat since Moon wouldn't be there to save him. Sun looked over the edge of the boat.
He saw nothing when he managed to calm down something hit the bottom of the boat, causing Sun to lose balance. He fell on his back and his head over the edge. He covered quickly grabbed an oar from the bottom of the boat and prepared himself, his oar ready.
The eerie silence then a small attack on the boat, but nothing too serious. Almost like the thing was playing with him, eventually, he got tired and was done with the playing. He smacked the oar on the water, then silence.
Nothing happened within a time frame of 15 minutes.
Sun was about to call it a night before what sounded like something scratched the bottom of the boat. Then a slam, followed by 5 more. The aggression from the creature. By this point Sun was scared. He was praying for a chance to survive before the attacks stopped. Sun said his thanks out loud before the boat was tipped over, causing Sun to fall into the water.
One thing to know, Sun wasn’t a very good swimmer.
He was struggling to get a float, the weight of his clothes weighing him down and then getting tired quickly. He soon was taking in water and getting exhausted. Then he started to sink. Fear and panic started to fill in now.
He took in one big breath before being completely submerged. He opened his eyes underwater and looked up, the surface was getting further and further away. Eventually, he hit the bottom and tried his best to swim back up, but he was losing oxygen and everything was going black. Then he saw a shimmer from the moon and then nothing.
___________
Sun shot up and coughed. He was rolled to his side and his back was patted. Sun coughed until he was able to breathe. He lay there for a while and relaxed, then he remembered being next to him. He turned his head to face them, it was them. The creature.
Sun flinched back when they raised their hand, they flinched back when he did. They looked sad and lowered their hand. Since it was sunrise, it was better to see them, they looked like any human being but the scales on their face were a shimmering green and their head fins poked out from their hair. In today's society, they would’ve passed as human.
Sun relaxed and opened his mouth to speak, but was quickly stopped, the creature slapped its hand over his mouth. Their eyes were wide, they raised the other hand to their mouth and made a ‘Be Quiet.’ movement. They pointed to the woods behind them, dogs were barking and men yelling, probably the police.
The creature moved their hand from his mouth before sliding back into the water, Sun quickly grabbed their wrist before they were gone. The creature looked at them with a question, then he spoke.
“Will I see you again?”
The siren raised their eyebrows and then shrugged. Sun let go of their wrist and watched them swim into the water. From the corner of his eyes, he noticed something shining in the sand. It was a shell, unusual because it was a lake. Sun grabbed it and slid it into his pocket before walking off into the forest being found by the police. Moon was with them.
Moon spotted him and threw himself onto him, embracing him with a hug. He pulled back and grabbed his face, looking at his body for injuries, when he found nothing he looked into his eyes.
“What did you do?”
Sun pondered on that question before smiling up at him.
“I made a new friend!”

My plan right now is to finish a decent chuck of this book, then post a few chapters of my Time is s Virtue, and then maybe another Sun and Moon fic or maybe a Simon Petrikov/Reader. You guys should pick for me! Continue TIAV or make a Simon fic. :)
