Dad, Am I Adopted?

Summary:

⚠️TW⚠️ Sleep Paralysis, Bulimia, Vomiting, Self-shaming, Claustrophobia, Suffocating and Gay People /hj

Family, Home.

Nail wasn't exactly sure what the approximate meaning of these two words were. All he knew was that no one wanted him. They didn't say that, (at least not to his face, but he was sure it was said at some point) but the fact that they returned him over a total of 20 times was evident enough. He was unwanted. Unloved.

He didn't need anyone. He could manage fine on his own. Family was a scam. Life was a scam.

All he needed was himself.

He'd keep to himself. That's what he's good at anyway, distancing himself, cutting off any communication between anyone he knew.

TLDR; Nail gets adopted 26 times and doesn't get sent back a 27th time.

Chapter Text

Family, Home.

Nail wasn't exactly sure what the approximate meaning of these two words were. All he knew was that no one wanted him. They didn't say that, (at least not to his face, but he was sure it was said at some point) but the fact that they returned him over a total of 20 times was evident enough. He was unwanted. Unloved.

But you'd think since he was sent back so many times, and that he hated getting his hopes up that he'd change. That wasn't really the case. Nail was tired of being tossed around like a rag-doll, so why be tossed around anymore? He purposely acted out so he wouldn't have to get his hopes up again. Though, he was getting older, and soon enough he would be kicked out of the adoption center to the streets. This was the one thing Nail was truly worried about. He wasn't very fond of the idea of living on the streets, eating scraps and begging for money.

These were the only thoughts that kept Nail from leaving the shelter, deciding he'd rather not endure disgusting environment and eating patterns just to prevent being tossed around. He could handle it for another 4-5 years. Then he could leave this hellhole and fend for himself.

He didn't need anyone. He could manage fine on his own. Family was a scam. Life was a scam.

Besides, who would want to take a problematic boy like him? Right, he wasn't getting his hopes up for a 27th time. Not again- he couldn't take another broken relationship like this. It's too much to handle.

All he needed was himself.

He would worry about others later. No one bothered to check and see if he was ever okay with anything that was ever going on.

He'd keep to himself. That's what he's good at anyway, distancing himself, cutting off any communication between anyone he knew.

'There's only one person I need to be worrying about, and that's me,' Nail thought resentfully. 'Who needs a father figure anyways?'

Nail turned on the TV, which was set with a bunch of older Object Shows. He sat backwards and curled up, staring at the TV screen.

He couldn't wait to get out of here.

Unicorn Horn and Mango were crushed against each other, limbs tangled around each other's bodies as they slept. Mango's eyes fluttered open, only to see his husband's face inches away from his. He smiled and slowly began to untangle himself from his lover's grasp. Not slowly enough though, as Unicorn Horn let out a whine of protest and his eyes opened. He stared groggily at Mango for a moment before pulling him back down into the sheets.

"There is no way i'm letting you leave this early. It's Saturday anyways."

Mango sighed knowing there was no way he was going to get out of this one, so he wrapped his arms around Unicorn Horn and closed his eyes. Unicorn horn kissed his husband all over, provoking a light chuckle out of the calm male. Mango then realized- "Up! Remember, we're supposed to be going to the adoption center!"

Unicorn Horn took a moment to let the new information settle in, then sat up, nearly pushing Mango off the bed. "What are we waiting for?? Mango, why are you so lazy?"

Mango let out a squawk of indignation; yet he wallowed in silence. His husband was always known to be quite the drama king, he did grow up under the title 'Theater Kid' after all. Minutes passed, and soon the couple was ready to head out.

Mango parked, not too far down the street from the orphanage. The summer sun beat down on them as they stepped out of the car. The married couple walked up to the shelter, hand in hand, grinning. They stepped in the door to see Chocolate Bar sitting at a desk typing away at a computer. "Chocolate Bar? What are you doing here?" Mango asked, eyebrows raised in surprise. Chocolate bar's response was unexpected; "Oh, I took this as a day job because it seemed like a good place to restart."

Mango and Unicorn Horn shared identical glances before looking back at Chocolate Bar. The latter notices this and blinks. "Were you two looking to adopt?" Unicorn Horn nodded vigorously and shakes Mango who just gave a weak thumbs up. Chocolate Bar stood up and gestured them towards the back.

"There aren't many kids here, since lately there have been couples coming in and adopting; funny how many people want kids in the summertime, huh?"

"That's fine, Unicorn Horn works better when there aren't many choices to make."

Unicorn Horn nodded, though he halfheartedly glared at his husband and lightly elbowed him in the chest, receiving a small 'ow' from the respective male.

Chocolate Bar lead them into the back where the children were. Chocolate Bar flipped a switch and a hallway light turned on, flickering lightly. They walked down the unsettling hallway, Unicorn Horn gripping Mango's arm tighter by the minute. Eventually they reached the end and opened a door, which lead to a room with a toy box, a TV, which was on, and a couch which was pre-occupied by Nail.

Chocolate Bar knocked on the inside of the door, Nail flinched lightly, yet his eyes didn't move from the TV screen.

"Hey Bud! Whatcha watching?"

"Some old Object Show. The quality back then was pretty bad," Nail replied, squinting eyes never leaving the TV. Chocolate Bar chuckled. He fully opened the door and stepped out of the way to let them enter the room. Nail looked up towards the door.

"Nail, this is Mango and Unicorn Horn," he pointed to them. "How about you spend some time with them?" Nail just shrugged and stood up, walking over to them, brows lightly furrowed.

"Hi, I'm Nail, I'm 11 and-a-half and I don't like nuts." He held out his hand and Mango shook it.

"Hello Nail. As Chocolate Bar just said, I'm Mango and this is my husband Unicorn Horn." Unicorn Horn just waved, smiling.

Chocolate Bar gave them a tour of the place, which wasn't much, just a bathroom, a bedroom full of empty beds- except for one, which was lightly cluttered with a few shirts, toys and different books. The couple assumed it was Nail's- and a kitchen with a lightly stocked refrigerator, a sink, stove, toaster, and microwave. (Nail was apparently banned from using all appliances, due to almost exploding the the microwave.)

Chocolate Bar went back to the front to take a call from someone he called 'dear', leaving the three alone in the room. Nail was pushing a train along the track, making little chugging noises.

"So if you don't like nuts, what do you like?"

Nail looked up at Unicorn Horn, putting the train down. "Err, I like gummies on toast."

"Gummies on the toast, nice option." Unicorn Horn gave a little thumbs up, provoking a playful scoff from Mango. "I used to microwave the gummies and pour it on the toast, but y'know, I'm banned-"

Unicorn Horn snorted. "What do you do now?" Nail shrugged. "I guess I just eat it normally, without microwaving the gummies."

Unicorn Horn clapped once and pointed at Nail; "That's how you're supposed to do it."

Nail looked startled. He looked to Mango and pointed at Unicorn Horn, "He actually eats it raw?"

Mango nodded and rolled his eyes, "He never lets me microwave it; whenever I do he makes me make another one."

"And rightfully so! Listen, he tried putting Pop-tarts in the toaster! Can you believe it?" Nail snickered. Mango smiled and listened as Unicorn Horn droned on. Soon, the hour got late; 6:57 approximately. Mango and Unicorn Horn were pulled out of their little conversation with Nail by Chocolate Bar knocking on the door.

"Guys? The shelter is shutting down for the night."

Nail looked up, and out the window blinking. He didn't realize how late it had gotten. Unicorn Horn and Mango seemed surprised too, at how much time had flown.

Nail walked with them to the door and waved as they departed on their two-city hop journey home. He shivered against the sudden night-time summer heat in contrast to the air conditioned building but kept waving. Only when their car turned the block did Nail stop waving and stick his head inside the building.

Nail had enjoyed the time the two spent there. Maybe this one would work,,?

'Don't get your hopes up.' Nail reminded himself. 'You made that mistake the last 26 times. Don't make that mistake again.'

He watched Chocolate Bar lock up, then turned and went down the hallway to the bedroom. Chocolate Bar sighed, shutting down the computer and shutting the lights in the lobby off. He walked down the hallway to the half-empty bedroom and greeted Nail.

"Hey Nail. How was it?"

Nail played with his fingers, looking down. ",,It was fine," He said hesitantly.

"Tell me something about them," Chocolate Bar said, sitting next to him on the bed.

"Well, Mango hates swimming, says he almost drowned once." Chocolate bar smiled, remembering Episode 6 of Season 1. "Yeah, I was there. So was Unicorn Horn too, actually. Tell me something else."

"Unicorn Horn eats his gummy toast raw, and doesn't like putting Pop-tarts in the toaster, for some reason. And he also won 'Best Actor' award at school and played the lead part for 'Olive'."

(PLEASE RTELL ME YOU GUYS GET THE ACTING REFRENCE PLEADE PLEASE PLEASE)

This went on for awhile, Chocolate Bar asking, Nail answering.

Nail seemed to open up, hope sparked in his chest.

Maybe this time would be different.

This time, there was no small voice in his head telling him not to get his hopes up.

It wasn't there as he took his sleeping pills.

It wasn't there as Chocolate Bar shut off the lights and wished Nail a good night.

It wasn't there in his (surprisingly pleasant for once) dreams.

Nor the following nights.

It wasn't even there as Mango signed the official papers a few days later, Unicorn Horn running around with Nail on his back.

It wasn't there as they drove off into the city.

It was like the voice had vanished.

Nail looked out the window, the bright and colorful city lights blurring as his eyes threatened to shut on him.

The ride back to their city was a 30-40 minute duration, but Nail could take it. Instead, he focused on the condensation forming on the windows. The colors outside seemed to make the droplets shine.

Much too soon, they arrived at Nail's new home.

Nail put his bags and boxes in his new room and flopped on his new bed. He sighed and melted into the sheet's warmth, it was so much softer than the beds at the orphanage. He closed his eyes; he didn't fall asleep in the car, too afraid to mess up his sleep schedule. Sleep hit him like a punch to the face.

Mango came to check on him 10-30 minutes after. "Hey bud, how's the moving goi-" He stopped when he noticed Nail was asleep and smiled. He gently pulled the blankets over the boy and turned off the lights.

"So, how's he getting along?" Unicorn Horn pressed when Mango left the room. Mango pressed a finger to his lips, shushing his husband. "He's asleep right now, i'll help him unpack later." Unicorn Horn nodded and pushed Mango's hand away from his face.

Nail was back at the city park, playing in the front yard. Latte was there too, holding his phone up, recording as Nail hung upside down from the monkey bars. Chocolate Bar had finally allowed Latte to take Nail out for once, probably since there were no more kids to worry about being jealous that he was getting to leave without being adopted.

Or it was because Chocolate Bar felt sorry that no one wanted him for the 15th time.

Or maybe because it was his 10th birthday.

Or maybe it was because Chocolate Bar finally trusted Latte.

"I bet you can't jump from there," Latte dared, putting his phone away. Nail smirked, and with obvious smugness said; "Oh yeah? I bet I could!"

He righted himself and stood up, each foot on a respective pole, far enough so all he did was wobble a bit. Nail wasn't normally scared of heights, but this time he was startled by high up he seemed from the ground.

Squinting his eyes against the sun and balling his fists he called out to Latte. "If I do fall, promise you'll catch me?"

Latte nodded, bracing himself to catch the smaller boy.

Nail took a deep breath, shook himself out, to get rid of any jitters he might have had in that moment. Then, he squatted down as far as his legs old take him and jumped, shouting "YOLO!!"

At first, he was flying.

Nail was flying in the air, propelling higher and higher.

Then he was falling.

He felt his stomach drop at gravity's sudden pull on his body. Latte was there, arms tense at his sides, waiting to catch Nail.

Nail was falling

And then he was nowhere.

Darkness engulfed his vision, making him jolt in surprise. He looked around for light, yet there was nothing but darkness all around.

He shivered, as it was suddenly cold, and slightly curled into himself, rubbing his arms. He couldn't see, but if he could, he would probably be able to see the breath billow in front of his face.

As Nail curled further into himself, he felt something brush his hair. His head snapped upwards, yet nothing was there. He could definitely feel a set of eyes bulging into his back, staring him down.

He shivered again, this time not knowing if the cause was him actually being cold, or the sudden fear that engulfed him.

His surroundings seemed to close in on him, the air getting harder to breathe. The darkness seemed to close in on him, as if it weren't already surrounding him completely.

His breath caught in his throat and a new terror surged within him, causing him to jolt and squirm. His mouth opened in an attempt to scream, yet nothing came. His heart was pounding, lungs feeling as if they would explode. Tears streamed down his cheeks as he attempted at another scream.

Nothing.

The dizziness was causing his eyes to droop, and he didn't resist. His eyes shut into a darkness that seemed so final it was terrifying. Though he was scared, he didn't try to open his eyes, only whimpered. The darkness seemed to play with his feelings and prodded at him, mocking him, it seemed.

Then he woke up.

He blinked open his eyes, a cold sweat plastering his sticky skin to his bedsheets. He sat up, but his morning energy was quickly depleted and he let his body fall back onto the mattress. Nail winced as he hit his head on the bedpost beside him and rolled over onto his side, rubbing his forehead. Nothing about the room he was in seemed familiar. He cast his mind back to the night before, only to remember;

'I've been adopted again.'

He groaned with a sense of foreboding, it was about to happen again. They would keep him for about a month or two, realize he wasn't the kid they wanted and send him back. No one knew about his autism except for Latte, his blood-pact brother. When they found out about it, they would hate him for it and take him right back, like the other 26.

Then there was his sleep paralysis, though ever since he started taking meds for it he's been able to sleep better. Well, last night excepted. He hoped this wouldn't come back to bother him too much, considering he only just arrived here, and didn't want to retort to sleeping in his new parent's room, or even in their bed.

And then there was the other thing. Not even Latte knew about this, and it would most likely be a secret he would bring to the grave.

He exited his new room, taking a moment to take in this new environment. By the time the got home, it was late at night and he barely had time to get to know his new home.

He walked into the bathroom, which he was surprised he knew where it was, and washed his face. He felt more awake now. His eyes stung with a sharp pain, probably his pillow lint and grease finding it's way into his eyes again. Tears quickly rushed to dispose of the bacteria and he squeezed his eyes, pushing the tears out. Then he turned on the water and rinsed out his eyes. He snatched his cloth from his room and dried his face.

Nail wandered around the upstairs area, trying to find the stairs and nearly giving up because of how big the place was. Eventually, he found the stairs which lead to the main area; as soon as his foot hit the bottom step, his scent glands were immediately washed with the wonderful aroma of pancakes.

He stepped into the Dining room, where Unicorn Horn sat at the table, watching Mango work in the kitchen. He looked back at Nail when he heard the chair scrape the floor and grinned. "Hey kiddo! How'd you sleep?"

Nail rubbed his eyes, yawning. "I slept,, well. Thanks Da- Mr. Unicorn Horn," He lied.

Unicorn Horn's little smile wavered at the little correction, but he was fine with it. 'Of course it would take him time to get used to me, and get comfortable enough to call me his Dad.'

Nail sat down in one of the three empty seats. Mango returned from the kitchen holding three plates of freshly made pancakes. He placed one plate in front of the two then sat down to take his own.

The three ate in a comfortable silence, which went by a lot faster than it needed to, Nail scarfing his pancakes down like a wild animal. When he finished, he pushed his chair out and excused himself upstairs. Mango assumed it was to unpack, since he had yet to do so.

",,you think they've been feeding him well at those other homes?" Unicorn Horn asked, a concerned look on his face. "Yeah, why?"

"Well, he just ate like he hasn't seen food in years!"

"That, or my pancakes were just that good." Unicorn Horn elbowed him good-heartedly. "We all know that's not true," He teased.

Mango snorted. "You can't seem to get enough of them any other day." "That's just because I'm not trying to make you feel bad about how terrible they taste."

"Alright, that's it!" Mango stood up and tackled Unicorn Horn to the ground, peppering him with kisses. Unicorn Horn slapped the back of his hand to his forehead dramatically; "Oh, woe is me! I'm being attacked by a monster!" Mango continued to kiss him all over, and when they were all tuckered out, he pulled the latter up and dragged him over to the couch. There they sat, leaning into each other, a comfortable silence filling the room.

♪───O(≧∇≦)O────♪

Nail stood in front of the sink in the small enclosed bathroom, bottle of water in one hand. He stared at his reflection in the mirror and down at the bottle in his hand.

'You didn't have to eat that much, Nail. Why did you do that?'

'Not only are you unwanted, you're fat, too.'

'This is why they keep sending you back.'

Nail quickly chugged the bottle of water, then shoved two fingers down his throat. He gagged, yet nothing happened. He shoved them again, gagging. This repeated until he felt bile rise in his throat. And with one final cram, he spewed.

Even after, despite being so empty, he still felt so full, so he did it two more times.

He turned on the faucet and stared after his breakfast as it made it's way to who knows where. Then he wiped his mouth, turned off the faucet when the sink was clear of his insides, and stepped out of the restroom.

He went into his new room and shoved himself into the corner of his bed, which was plastered against the wall, and curled up. He began to shake, and cry. He collapsed and silently cried for what felt like an eternity. Then he wailed and gripped the sides of his head, clawing at his face.

Downstairs, the couple heard this, exchanged concerned glances, and rushed up the stairs. Mango knocked on the door, "Nail? You okay?"

Nail snapped his mouth shut and wiped his eyes, "y-yeah, it's just uh,, t-there was a,, a spider! I got rid of it though!"

It was silent for a few moments, Nail silently praying that they wouldn't open the door and just go away.

"Alright,, If you say so," Mango replied, Nail heard footsteps receding from the door and the exhaled, letting built up tears stream down his face. He had almost gotten caught.

Nail pulled the blankets over his head, deciding he would tap out for an hour or two, not caring about the consequences of a messed up sleep-schedule. He closed his eyes and let his quiet sniffs and warm tears lull him back to sleep.

Mango came in the room, not too soon after to find Nail curled back up in his bed. His frown curled into a small grin, happy Nail was getting used to his new home. He waved Unicorn Horn into the room, shushing him. "He's asleep again," he whispered, "So stay quiet."

"Asleep again?" Unicorn Horn crept into the room, concerned. "Now I'm certain they haven't been treating him well at those other homes, why else would he be this tired?"

Mango ignored the question, waving his hand dismissively and moving over to a box. "How about we help him unpack? It's already been an entire day and he's still not unpacked," he whispered. Unicorn Horn scoffed. "Alright, fine. But I get to paint the walls."

"Whatever floats your boat."

♪───O(≧∇≦)O────♪

Nail's eyes fluttered open for the second time that day. He sat up slowly and stretched, looking around. His eyes widened as he took in the look of his new room;

His bookshelves were fully stocked with all of his books (he liked to read), his plushies were placed at the foot of his bed, waiting to be hugged, one of his drawers were open, full with folded clothes; he could only assume the rest were full too. There was a newly bought desk on the other side of the room with a chair-on-wheels sticking out from underneath and his bedside table had a little alarm clock, a little dish for small things like pennies, a small lamp, and a frame for a photo waiting to be taken.

Nail's heart melted at the sight of his perfect room. He stood up and his eyes wandered around, drinking in the perfect sight.

His eyes lingered on the perfect room, even as he walked out of it; then he turned and bolted down the stairs. Unicorn Horn was in the living room, holding some sort of book. Nail ran into him and gave him the biggest hug he could, catching the older male off guard. "Hey! W-What's up?"

Nail didn't respond, just let out a high pitched squeak, a result of his happy stims. Unicorn Horn understood and hugged him back.

Mango caught them hugging and faked a pout. "Wow, you guys are leaving me out? I can't believe you."

Mango then proceeded to pick them both up in a hug. Nail squealed as his feet were lifted off the ground. "Babe!" Unicorn Horn shrieked, a smile in his voice. Mango placed them down with a heavy thud. "You two are heavy."

Unicorn Horn playfully smacked his husbands arm. "Oh hush! Besides, even if you're calling me fat-" "I never said-" "-It's because of all those high calorie pancakes you keep making!"

Mango placed a hand over his heart to mock being insulted, mouth agape. "Well I never!" He gasped, obviously playing. "If you didn't like my cooking you could've just said so, I could let you run the kitchen for a day!"

Unicorn Horn smirked, "Well, maybe I want to. I bet Nail would appreciate my cooking so much more! Right, Nail?"

"Well, If we're choosing sides, my side is the winning one. Nail, you want my cooking so much more than his, right?"

Nail seemed to consider, placing his fingers on his chin** and hummed.

(**Again, if this is object form or not is up to you!)

"Hmm.. Maybe let's have Unicorn Horn try cooking?"

Mango mocked a flabbergasted look and held his mouth agape. "Well, if you say so!" Unicorn Horn said cheerily, and he skipped towards the kitchen.

Mango and Nail watched him go.

"He's going to burn the house down," Mango said aloud.

"Oh, definitely," Nail replied.

The summer breeze was drifting away as the family welcomed the new season. The calendar was changed to 'September' and the scent of of Pumpkin Spice was hanging in the air.

Nail was amazed at how much longer he had lasted with his new family. His sleep paralysis had been merciful this summer, and only bothered him a total of 4 times. All still traumatic, but a small amount, nonetheless. He had told Mango and Unicorn Horn about his autism, and they were surprisingly calm about it. Apparently Unicorn Horn had ADHD, so he understood surprisingly well how to handle it. School was in session and Nail was sitting at his assigned seat, gnawing on his pencil eraser.

He watched the clock as the minutes droned on, ticking and ticking. 'Come on,' he thought, 'Just one more minute..'

The minute hand moved and the bell rang. Nail waited patiently with his classmates to be dismissed home.

"You may go, have a wonderful weekend."

Nail stood up and bolted out of the classroom faster than anyone could have and waited in the cafeteria for Unicorn Horn to pick him up. Soon, he was there, pushing through the crowd to his son.

"Hey Nail!" Unicorn Horn huffed once he stood in front of the shorter male. "How was school?" He extended his hand. Nail grabbed it and they began their two block journey home. "It was fine, slow again as usual."

Unicorn Horn scoffed. "I still don't understand why you're not in the gifted program, I mean you're in the special education system, which is already bad as is, but you're really smart. I don't see why you can't be in T.A.G!"

Nail shrugged and swung his hands. The two walked in silence for the rest of the way home. They passed others putting up decorations for the upcoming holiday and shops that wafted with the aroma of pumpkin, vanilla and cinnamon.

Mango greeted them as they stepped in the house. "Hey you two! How was it?"

"The walk home, or school?" Nail asked, hanging his backpack on a hook.

"Both, why not?"

Unicorn Horn sat on the couch in the Living room, sighing. Nail sat next to him, also sighing.

Nail began to drone on about how stupid it was that the Halloween decorations were already going up in September and how at school they were holding a bunch of stupid events.

Mango and Unicorn Horn listened, exchanging glances.

Eventually Nail quieted down, all talked out and breathing heavily. Mango stood up and walked into the kitchen. (Unicorn Horn was now banned from the kitchen for burning down the stove.) "How does tacos sound for dinner?"

Nail sat up, smiling. "Yeah! Tacos!"

♪───O(≧∇≦)O────♪

Latte caught Nail with strong arms and squeezed him tight. "Eek! Latte, I can't breathe!" If it wasn't from fall damage, he would die from suffocation! Latte laughed, smile radiant.

"Sorry Nail! That was great!" Nail crossed his arms, a dazzling light seemed to emit from him as he basked in his praise.

"I know it was! I'm just amazing like that, hehe!"

Latte put Nail down, eyes squinted playfully against the fake light. "Okay, geez your Royale highness, just brag about it why don't you? Come on, let's head back."

Nail grinned and nodded. Latte offered a hand which the other gladly took and they walked back to the shelter.

As they stepped into the shelter, darkness surrounded his vision again. Latte was gone.

Chocolate Bar wasn't there, sitting at the front desk and typing. It was just dark. He looked behind them, the door was no longer there. Only a continuation of the surrounding darkness.

Nail felt like he was suffocating. Not the same suffocation he felt earlier, when Latte squeezed him tight. No, it was a cold embrace, that sucked the hope out of his heart and the light out of his eyes.

He sobbed, quietly. The tears streamed down his face, silent.

Suddenly he was being shaken. He pushed out in attempt to get the shaking to stop. His palms pushed and the shaking stopped; for a second. Then it was back again, yet more intense.

And then he woke up.

Nail gasped as he sat up, nearly bonking his forehead against Mango's. Suddenly, Unicorn Horn was beside Mango and pushed him out of the way.

"Nail! Are you okay?! What happened, you were screaming and crying and you weren't breathing!!"

Nail was curled up into a ball, shaking and whimpering. Tears streamed down his face, silent. His ears were ringing and his vision was blurry.

Mango lightly shoved Unicorn Horn to the side. He grabbed Nail's hands and looked him in the eyes as best as he could.

"Hey. I need you to breathe, okay? Breathe."

He inhaled, shoulders raising, then exhaled. Then he did it again. Nail's rapid shaky breaths slowed into a relatively close pattern to Mango's. He blinked tears out of his eyes and wiped his face. The ringing quieted and his vision cleared.

Mango pulled Nail into a hug. Unicorn Horn came over and joined the hug, the two adults holding the child tight.

For once, Nail could breathe clearly.

For once, nothing felt forced.

For once, everything felt real.

And for the first time since 6 years old, Nail knew home. Nail knew Family.

"Thanks Dad, Papa.." He muttered, closing his eyes.

Fine if you aren’t satisfied with the ending have this;

Nail got care for his Sleep Paralysis and his Bulimia, and he got accepted into the T.A.G program.

Latte visits him like every week because he’s a good big brother
And he doesn’t trust Unicorn Horn or Mango

Snow Cone and Chocolate Bar are now Nail’s god-parents because I liked the ‘Hosting Equals Parenting’ Fic on AO3 and CB is defo Nail’s dad somehow

Unicorn Horn won a Grammy and an Oscar for best actor

Nail went to all of the Broomer Boys concerts and he’s now like their fourth member because he’s always finding ways into their dressing rooms, their trucks, their homes and their hearts
Yeah they’re all friends now

Chalky introduced Nail to TOL and Headset and they have Bi-Monthly gamer duels

And Nail grows up to be an archaeologist because I HC that he likes to dig in the dirt and he was one of those kids who were either looking for dinosaur bones or buried treasure
